Lol I'm so excited to see the folks here on tumblr doing the collective 180 about Blake after their valentine special
lololol same, the speed in which Blake went from bottom of the list to the top off that special alone is truly amazing pfft I am included in that because I love Blake so much now lmahdshs
They have gone above main ROs to sit comfortably at the top with the likes of Seven, O and most recently, August. It's actually kind of wild lolol

You make many compelling points, but "So surely that means a faunus with human traits could be born to different types of faunus, and not appear to be a faunus at all." makes me think of Ilia.
Tumblr media
Technically, Ilia has a chameleon's camouflage abilities, so it probably doesn't count. But in Blake's V5 character short, Ilia mentions that she was able to attend a human-only school because she had no apparent Faunus trait.
But still.
The World of Remnant short about faunus mentions a few things about what determines the type of faunus born (type = what sort of animal traits a faunus has):
(Human parents: human baby, not really relevant here)
Faunus parent and human parent: faunus baby, the same type of faunus as the faunus parent. That's why a biological Bumbleby baby would be a cat faunus, unless Yang is secretly a different sort of faunus.
Faunus parents: faunus baby. I'll get into what type of faunus below, as it depends on the parents.
If the parents are the same type of faunus the baby is also that type. This is presumably how Kali and Ghira Belladonna had Blake, although Ghira is apparently a panther faunus while Kali is a cat faunus, as is Blake. Maybe the type of faunus that matters is being from the same overall animal family. It's not entirely clear.
If the parents are different types of faunus, then the baby is a random sort of faunus.
What I wondered is this: humans are a type of mammal. Mammals are a type of animal. So surely that means a faunus with human traits could be born to different types of faunus, and not appear to be a faunus at all.
At least there'd be no accusations of cheating with how faunus genetics work, but I can't imagine it'd be an easy life, either on Menagerie surrounded by faunus with mostly obvious traits, or elsewhere with anti faunus racism that could have some pretty terrible consequences that I'd rather not get into.
With human parents having a human baby I said that wasn't really relevant here. But that's not quite the case because if two faunus with human traits got together and either didn't know they were faunus or never told anyone, a seemingly human couple could end up having faunus babies with obviously animal traits.

Gareth Thomas returns - still running a car hire service, now inexplicably called Tom Lewis - in Public Eye: The Bankrupt (6.1, Thames, 1972)
#fave spotting#gareth thomas#roj blake#blakes 7#blake's 7#public eye#the bankrupt#classic tv#1972#thames#gratified to find that I'm not losing my mind and GT does return playing (surely) the same character even if it took longer to get there#than I'd recalled. i mean i suppose there could be two car hire services in Eton‚ run by identical twins with different surnames.. but i#think it's safe to assume this is intended to be the same character Gareth played back in 5.9‚ with the production team presumably having#forgotten what they named the character (or that they named him at all‚ i don't think the name is used onscreen)#his relationship with Marker is much friendlier here than it seemed in 5.9 but i think that could be easily explained simply by the two#having got to know each other a little better; Frank was already established as a recurring customer in the previous appearance so#a certain amount of familiarity between them after another year is only natural (and it has presumably been a year; i always get the#feeling with PE that it's intended to have unfolded in 'real time'‚ ie. the series don't pick up immediately after one another but with a#gap roughly the same as the amount of time the show was off air between series)#this is a solid series opener‚ a fairly small story of financial skullduggery that Frank has to untangle‚ naturally without any reward for#himself. even his work on behalf of GT is pro bono‚ fairly unusual and suggesting that perhaps there is some genuine friendship between the#two and not just the surface level cordiality of two men whose work often throws them together. still‚ Frank's on spiky form#particularly once the case starts to frustrate him; this is a spiky series‚ actually‚ and the character has arguably begun a shift into#something approaching short tempered grouchiness... he's still Frank tho‚ bless him

not gonna talk about this in depth rn but i need to softly scream into the void bc this has been bothering me for almost a week now and no matter how much i try i cannot make it make sense, so:
in the black trailer, blake asks adam "what about the crew members" as they're about to set the charges, to which adam bluntly replies "lol, what about them?" (okay, the "lol" isn't there, but ya know what. it pretty much is.) this, followed by blake leaving at the end of the trailer, implies that while blake was fine with hijacking the train and setting the charges, harming the crew—even if 'indirectly'—is where she drew the line, and ultimately being her reason for leaving the white fang.
but then, in 'black and white', when blake tells sun about the history of the white fang, she very clearly states her reason for leaving; that being the violent methods introduced by sienna with no mention made towards bystanders getting hurt:
"suddenly, our peaceful protests were being replaced with organized attacks. we were setting fire to shops that refused to serve us, hijacking cargo from companies that used faunus labor. and the worst part was, it was working. we were being treated like equals. but not out of respect… out of fear.
so, i left. i decided i no longer wanted to use my skills to aid in their violence, and instead, i would dedicate my life to becoming a huntress. so here i am: a criminal hiding in plain view, all with the help of a little black bow."
and like there's more inconsistencies to this that keep my brain up at night trying to make it all make sense, but this alone has me going which one is it??? was it the violence in general—that she then stayed for five years anyway bc.... reasons???—or was it the innocent getting hurt while at it???

"They tell the hundred to avoid the pink hornet mosquitos. Bellamy drills that it’s a near death experience so he’s not asked too many questions about it, and Clarke parrots how critical it is to remove the stinger as soon as possible after being stung."
My Prof said: Write a piece of fan fiction in response to one of your favourite science fiction narratives (literary or otherwise). For example, you can create • an alternative ending, • a new narrative perspective to retell a section of the original text, • a new segment that you think would enhance the original narrative, • some other creative variation.
So I happily delivered and wrote some fanfic after being out of the groove since 2017! Also, so happy to write Bellarke like this fandom needs the most therapy after all of that man... no words.
love y'all and hope you enjoy!

Behind the scene moments; if our characters were in a cast
Tumblr media
“Relax, K.” Blake tried to reassure, clicking the button on her walkie-talkie and holding it in place. “None of them have anyway of actually figuring out where our spot is, even if they did, it’s not like they’ll ever find—”
“We’ll never find what?”
Blake snapped her head to peer over her shoulder before reflexively jerking back, surprised at just how close Ford was. But he reacted faster than she did. Ford grabbed her upper arms and yanked her forward, hugging her close to his chest, readjusting his hold around her so that her arms were restricted to her side.
The girl, who should’ve been struggling against the man, instead had her shoulders shaking so violently, Ford felt a little concern peak through his annoyance.
“I said; ‘never find what?’.” His tone was firm and his hold tightened on her significantly, but not enough to make her uncomfortable or hurt her. Never enough to hurt her.
“…I forgot my lines.”
Blake lost it when she heard Ford take in a long breath and leaned onto Ford, an uncontrollable laugh shook her smaller frame.
There was a click as the stage lights turned on, illuminating the rest of the expansive room. Hiccup let out an amused scoff and rolled his eyes, sitting a few yards away from the director who seemed like he wanted nothing more than to go home.
“Blake.” Ford pulled the giggling mess of a girl away from him before he rubbed his temple. “This is the third take.”
The girl in question shouted indignantly. “It’s not my fault!”
Blake defended as soon as she could catch her breath, she stepped away from Ford and pointed an accusatory finger at the woman behind Hiccup. “Kiara keeps distracting me!”
“You–” The director snapped his head to the woman but by the time he took a breath to tell her off, she was gone. Her laugh echoed down the hall she ran into.
Kiara was created by @tabbznotya-blog
Blake and Ford was created by @affirmativelyvii

hey chat i wrote a super short story :)
trigger/content warnings: hints at suicidal thoughts, hints at suicide attempts, mentions of self harm
Annabelle Epling is fourteen when she meets a boy with blonde hair and scar-covered arms, and she doesn’t have to ask to put a name to the face. Steven Blake is different than she expects. He’s smiling.
The first time they interact one-on-one, Annabelle is heading up to the main office to pick up new whiteboard markers when she spots Steven sitting outside the counselors’ office. She stops. She sits down. There’s a bandage wrapped around his wrist.
“I was doing so well,” he says numbly. Later that day, Annabelle’s dad is too busy working to punish her for skipping class. It’s the first time she’s done it. She made the right choice — that’s what she plans to say, but he never asks.
When Tony calls in tears and says that Justin’s in the hospital, Steven grabs Annabelle’s hand. “He’ll be okay,” he says. “I was.”
Were you? Annabelle wonders when she gets the call about him a year later.
Annabelle Epling is seventeen and sitting in her best friend’s bedroom, entirely unsure how to be of help. It’s sort of like when her mom left, she thinks, only she’s never gotten sad about that. Not really.
Steven and Kaz swoop in to save the day. While Kaz makes Kia boxed mac and cheese, Steven finds Annabelle sitting on the floor of Kia’s bedroom and says, “She loves you, you know.”
Two years later, those words make her cry for an entirely different reason, but that’s a story for another time.
Annabelle is eighteen and thinking about how her whole life is ahead of her. She’s sitting on a couch between Zhan Chen and Peter Skowalski. She’s watching Steven, asleep on Kaz’s shoulder in the middle of a party, and she’s wondering if he’s going to die before his twenty-fifth birthday like her brother almost did.
He opens his eyes and smiles at her. Zhan and Peter take her outside.
“Your parents are going to kill you,” Annabelle says, staring at the tattoo on Steven’s neck. He shrugs, turning away from the mirror to face her. He reaches out his arm, and she loops hers through it.
“They’ll get over it,” he says, grinning. “You did,” he says, and she knows what he means.
I got over her, she thinks. She is twenty-seven, and she is proud of herself.
