#52 | SPOTIFY WRAPPED STARTERS , @kxllerblond.
“ there's many different ways that you can kill the one you love... the slowest way is never loving them enough. ” blair takes a sip of her drink as she assess the situation. she really didn’t want to talk about that though. that’s how most of her relationships went anyway. familial, romantic, friendships, you name it.
but the image of her brother strikes her hard & fast. she takes another swig out of her flask. it disappears as soon she does. & they said the drinking didn’t help.
“ rather grey topic though... gotta be something better to talk about? --- ‘specially since you seem so... bored. ”

A proposed class-action lawsuit has been launched over Toronto police's historic use of “carding,” alleging the practiceof randomly stopping people and collecting their information continues to harm marginalized communities.
The statement of claim filed yesterday is on behalf of all Black and Indigenous people who have been stopped by Toronto police or had their information collected without reason since 2011.
It names the Toronto Police Services Board, current police chief Myron Demkiw and former chiefs James Ramer, Mark Saunders and Bill Blair as defendants.
It alleges that the carding practice, officially abandoned years ago, violated Charter rights protecting against unreasonable search and seizure, arbitrary detention as well as discrimination and rights of liberty and security.
Toronto police and the Toronto Police Services Board say they will not be commenting on the case as the matter is before the courts. [...]

A ROCK BAND hailing from Caerphilly has teamed up with a Hollywood star, to fund the education for aspiring actors in an arts funding project.
Rockers Manic Street Preachers have teamed up with Hollywood star Michael Sheen to fund aspiring actors.
Mr Sheen said: "We’re in the midst of an arts emergency in Wales.
"Cuts are taking away tongues at the very moment our stories need to be shouted loudest."
The Manics and the Good Omens actor handed thousands of pounds to 11 aspiring actors over the past three years to fund their educations.
Sheen, 55, has pumped more than £250,000 of his own money into the arts funding project, which is also backed by the "Design for Life" rock band.
Sheen revealed that the funding - given as part of his Mab Gwalia organisation - will be renewed for a further three years after he hit out against government cuts to the arts.
The Damned United actor, said: "Mab Gwalia has emerged to provide support to give tomorrow’s talent a platform and pathway to develop their craft and tell our truth to the world. But the door is open to others with shared values who can contribute financially to the fund."
The Mab Gwalia Welsh drama student scholarship has so far handed up to £15,000 per academic year to aspiring actors and announced it will continue for a further three years.
One of those students, Hollie Saunders, said the funding helped her attend Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Maesteg-based Holly, said: "The scholarship really made me feel so confident and just kind of hopeful, and without that scholarship, I wouldn't have been able to have that propeller to be like, I could do this too."
Sheen - who is known for his roles as former Prime Minister Tony Blair and soccer boss Brian Clough - has also helped fund a writing project and given bursaries to 11 writers from working-class and under-represented backgrounds.
One of those to benefit from the A Writing Chance scheme, Grace Quantock, of Newport, Gwent, praised Sheen for funding the initiative.
Ms Quantock, said: "Michael Sheen’s belief in Welsh working class voices changes lives. He knows art makes change, revolutionises lives, opens horizons and he is willing to step up to make that happen in his art and in his actions.
"His support changed my life through the A Writing Chance programme."
Outside the arts, Mab Gwalia has supported causes as vital as autism support, army veterans, mothers suffering post-natal depression, community skills hubs, foodbanks and more.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Desi Arnaz, Benedict of Nursia, Moe Berg, Ed Bournemann, Dale Bozzio, Larry Carlton, Karen Carpenter, John Cowsill, Daniel Craig, John Cullum, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis, Maxwell Street, Jimmy Davis, Becky G, Rory Gallagher, John Gardner, Mikhail Gorbachev, Laird Hamilton, Sam Houston, Bryce Dallas Howard, John Irving, Jennifer Jones, Léon Jongen, Jon Bon Jovi, Orrin Keepnews, the 1933 film KING KONG, Papa Lightfoot, BarBara Luna, Madonna’s 1989 single “Like a Prayer,” Chris Martin, Gates McFadden, drummer-producer Tony Meehan (The Shadows), Method Man, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Lauraine Newman, Jay Osmond, Ethan Peck, Elvis Presley’s 1956 single “Lawdy Miss Clawdy,” Luke Pritchard (The Kooks), Dottie Rambo, Red Saunders, Dennis Seaton (Musical Youth), Shostakovich’s 14th Symphony (1969), Bedřich Smetana, the 1995 musical SMOKY JOE’S CAFÉ, Ludovico Spontoni, the 1965 film SOUND OF MUSIC, composer-trumpeter Derek Watkins (James Bond films), Kurt Weill, Tom Wolfe, "Théo" Ysaÿe, and the creative provocateur, poet, and singer-songwriter Lou Reed. He was the principal songwriter for The Velvet Underground and his solo career spanned 5 decades.
Velvet Underground were not commercially successful but are now regarded as one of the most influential bands in the history of rock. Brian Eno said that everyone who heard the first VU album wanted to start a band. Reed had a deadpan voice that, for me, required forgiveness as singers go (though he did step up on occasion, particularly when he sung with The Blind Boys on THE RAVEN album). Eventually I connected with his noir fiction, transgressive “eyewitness reporting” lyrics and songcraft. He neither approved or disapproved of the subjects he sang about and, in the end, he just wanted to write catchy rock’n’roll. Over the years I’ve performed at least 6 Reed/VU songs—recording 2: “What Goes On” and “Sunday Morning,” on which I was joined by members of The Badlees (who did a splendid job in one afternoon). Reed himself commended our cover and promoted it on his website in the mid-90s. HB and RIP Lou.

It's sort of my unofficial mission while at uni to reference sitcoms, comedians, and general comedy shenanigans in assignments wherever possible. So far, so good.
Back in late 2020, when I was on a different course at a different uni, those of you who've been here a while might remember me excitedly posting about doing a presentation featuring the B'Stard. My group wanted to do Blatcherism as a subject (the idea that Blair just carried on what Thatcher was doing) and we needed a cultural source, so I suggested The New Statesman. OG TNS was obviously satirising the Thatcher governments, but the revival play in the 2000s was very much satirising the Blair governments - suggesting Blatcherism was very much real and a thing that was happening. This was super surreal because I got to show a clip from TNS (below) to my class, as well as go on about Rik Mayall.
Also in late 2020, I got the chance to write a 2,000 word essay on a historical period of my choice, using one primary source to back me up. I decided to write about the early 1980s and used The Young Ones as my source. Retrospectively (it has been over two years now), it's not the greatest essay I've ever written... although part of that is because the word count was too restrictive, dammit! However, the module leader said it was the best essay from the class, so I'll take that. 😂 It was fun, anyway, using TYO to address the Cold War and Thatcher.
Then I made a very good decision and switched unis and courses.
Since then, I've referenced Jennifer Saunders' biography in a memoir assignment reflection and Drop Dead Fred in a playwrighting assignment reflection. Last year, we got to write a 1,500 word article about a show/film/book of our choice, examining it through a literary lens, so I did Ghosts and trauma theory. Last semester, I took a comedy module (equal parts absolutely fucking terrifying and nourishing). For the reflective essay - oh boy - I was dropping names like you would not believe. Laurel & Hardy, Steve Coogan and Alan Partridge, Rik Mayall and Richard Richard, Red Dwarf, Ghosts again, French and Saunders, Ben Elton, Alexei Sayle. I was a leaking tap of mostly-retro comedy. 😂 Thankfully, the marker liked that!
And now, with the current semester just starting, I'm doing a module on television genres and will get to do a group presentation and 2,000 word essay. My group have already decided we're doing the sitcom for the presentation (and I'm sure I'll end up doing that for the essay too) and we're using The Young Ones as one of our examples. Fingers crossed this all goes well!
So, that's what I've been up to/am up to, amongst other things. Not sure if anyone will have read all of this, I wouldn't blame anyone for turning away with an eye roll. 😂 But this is my blog for self-indulgent comedy bollocks so on here it goes!

blair has not had a decent holiday — ever. so she is quite pessimistic of them. her parents ruined them … they outed santa ( ‘don’t be stupid, blair. you know demons exist but you don’t know santa’s fake?’ )
so catch her getting drunk off her as on a water-tower…yes it’s dangerous, yes she knows she can fall, & yes she doesn’t care.

Dean, explain why Blair Saunders ISNT a flight risk. She’ll get you killed
Ask my OCs chatacters personal questions!
He's a bit taken aback by the boldness of the question. His brows raise in disbelief. ❛ The hell are you talking about? ❜ Dean doesn't know what right this person feels they have to be talking about Blair in this way, but he isn't having any of it. ❛ You done talkin' outta' your ass? ❜ He's not entertaining this. To him, Blair is not a flight risk. No, he knows her well. She's loyal and dedicated –– and Dean also knows better than anyone else that the only person at risk of getting him killed... is himself.
