anyway "doomed by the narrative" as a concept has become more & more diluted with time so i hesitate 2 say it, but there's something really like. indescribably bitter about the overlap & presence of real-history and fiction-history in black sails-- we know new providence did eventually become subjugated under british colonial rule again. we know that flint's ghost haunts treasure island. we know that the 1715 treasure fleet was real & did wreck & we know that silver is going 2 survive & stay til the fucking end & he's going to lose a leg just like randall. like, so many of these dice being thrown-- we know the outcomes already! doesn't make it less painful though!
