Hope you don't mind me adding on to this, my friend. Just kinda from the perspective someone who 90% of the content they do online is OC content and has been for most of their lives. Even before online stuff.

Yeah, I've dealt with this since before I was even online. It can be crippling- anyone who's heard me go on about aether and nagete or Hope and the gang knows this really well- but there is ways to make dealing with it easier. Mostly it comes with people you love and trust.

It's why I value my friends and RP partners that I grow to know on a personal level. They're people I can trust and fight this internal battle with; knowing that our ideas are safe with each other and that those characters and ideas we share are cherished. Sure we take inspiration from each other and adopt ideas and headcanons from each other, but there's that security of knowing they won't outright take things.

Enough time doing that, you learn the balances needed to be able to share with the public as well and weave around that situation. Doesn't mean the fear goes away, but it makes coping with it a lot easier.

we always assume its a relationship built on hatred but thats not it. its a relationship of equals. two people who arent afraid to push bc they know the other will push back. an arms race but for self actualisation. we jus interpret it as hatred bc the most immediate example of a spades relationship is erisol and those two bitches fuckin hate each other

but it doesnt have to be hatred. it can be 2 pta moms havin a bakeoff. it can be 2 volleyball players on opposite teams. it can be two gods fightin over the same mortal who becomes an unfortunate casualty in the rivalry

unrequited blackrom is SO interesting actually imagine having this unrelenting disgust for someones qualities but also the deeply rooted respect that comes with pitch feelings.... all that passion, that hatred but they dont feel a thing back!!??

i think depending on pairings or the way the blackroms characters are written this can be very compelling
