Hope you don't mind me adding on to this, my friend. Just kinda from the perspective someone who 90% of the content they do online is OC content and has been for most of their lives. Even before online stuff.

Yeah, I've dealt with this since before I was even online. It can be crippling- anyone who's heard me go on about aether and nagete or Hope and the gang knows this really well- but there is ways to make dealing with it easier. Mostly it comes with people you love and trust.

It's why I value my friends and RP partners that I grow to know on a personal level. They're people I can trust and fight this internal battle with; knowing that our ideas are safe with each other and that those characters and ideas we share are cherished. Sure we take inspiration from each other and adopt ideas and headcanons from each other, but there's that security of knowing they won't outright take things.

Enough time doing that, you learn the balances needed to be able to share with the public as well and weave around that situation. Doesn't mean the fear goes away, but it makes coping with it a lot easier.

does anyone else grapple with the urge to share about their oc vs the fear of oc theft

im reevaluatin my understandin of kismesissitude

we always assume its a relationship built on hatred but thats not it. its a relationship of equals. two people who arent afraid to push bc they know the other will push back. an arms race but for self actualisation. we jus interpret it as hatred bc the most immediate example of a spades relationship is erisol and those two bitches fuckin hate each other

solstice storms or snakes are reoccuring

my ex-father-in-law had two heart attacks over the weekend and a double bypass last night. none of his kids and none of his grandkids have spoken to him for years. i haven't talked to him in more than a dozen years myself. that last five minutes are burned into my memory forever

still, he was a big part of my life when i was a young man. i learned a lot from him. he accepted me for who i was in a way that made it easier for me to do the same. he got me out of bad trouble that was on its way to worse trouble more than once

anyway, i had such a good weekend with my kids, unaware that any of this was happening. over the years, finn and i have had conversations about how we would feel when he was gone. we had agreed that it was impossible to predict. it's not over yet, but i think we are starting to find out now, and it's worse than either of us expected
