Black Winged Dragon was mishandled too. I wish we got more of an explanation as to why he was not around. There is a story to be had there.

Black-Winged Dragon just kind of pops in and the show just goes with it. Even with his late inclusion there could have been a chance to explain why he was not around during the Dark Signer arc. Even the 2 episodes dedicated to his introduction would have been enough to explain it away.

There were a lot routes that could have been taken. My personal fave idea would be to just have Black-Winged Dragon die, his card burns in the fire with Pearson. Hear me out. Crow’s whole theme is about legacy so just make it so the reason he is chosen is because he is connected to Pearson. Make Pearson the original Signer and have him die before the events of the story as usual. That way Pearson gets mentioned earlier and Crow gets his theme of legacy by having him take over for Pearson as a Signer. That way it doesn’t come out of left field. There is a reason he was picked at the last minute.

This gives Crow more to do (I think). He was stuck in the refrigerator for 3 days at the least. Have BWD use his powers to keep Crow alive and have BWD communicate with Crow during this time. Crow can probably piece together that Pearson and BWD were supposed to be Signers. With Pearson being dead, this explains why they are down one Signer.

It keeps up with Crow being the odd one out and he gets a reason to not have a dragon. From here Crow could get storylines that focus on him wanting to find a way to continue on Pearson’s legacy. This will show how much of an impact Pearson had on Crow. We could get more of the backstory in later episodes since the Dark Signer arc only focused on the bare minimum.

Danny squawked in utter betrayal as his sister picked him up by the scruff, running before he could attack the ghost hunter. Though it changed to a yelp when a blast nearly hit him, which wouldn’t be an issue if it didn’t almost hit Jazz as well. 

He hiked his legs up, tail curling up as Jazz ran, not exactly able to fly. Her own wings were more designed for gliding through water, and his own were way too small, which wasn’t usually a problem, but using ecto at the moment wasn’t an option. 

They were stuck fleeing like animals, his sister doing the best she could with how their bag of supplies had gotten left behind three states ago. But he was hungry and tired, and honestly wanted to bite the next person to attack them, ghost hunter or no. He bet it would make him feel better.
