Cat report
Today i was walking in the neighbourhood, and saw such a silver cat!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It had amazing white undercoat, a real treat for me. I tried to take photos, but mostly was too busy petting the cat
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonus: i also met a red tabby 😊

Tumblr media Tumblr media
showed this cat to a friend and she said "He's so silly hes think he is Dino :3" so everyone say 'thank you sydney' for her service in providing things for me to put into this post to make it look longer so people actually pause to linger on it and therefor instinctually believe that the post is somehow funnier for it's assumed self awareness, when it actually is attempting to be unfunny and their attempt at introspectiveness, and therefor like or reblog the post. everyone say 'thank you sydney'
on a first glance, black tabby, but then i used my eyes to actually look at the cat, and that's a black silver tabby! specific patterns i'm going between, because it could be broken mackerel OR broken braided. going w/ broken mackerel bc thats a kitten and it takes a bit to be sure.

loving ur blog so much !! I work in cat rescue and im absolutely obsessed w their weird genetics they're such fun critters. here r some of my favorites from work :]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Such darlings!! and ty!!!
The first one seems to be a black classic tabby!
The second one seems to be a black smoke!
The third one stumped me for a while, because it could be a plethora of genes causing that coloration, so there are a few possible options. The first one I thought of was a Ccb pointed silver cat, which would give it the eye colors and tinted brown around the back of the head and legs, but I'm unsure. I'm going to leave this cat as unidentified for me to check back on within a month, and see if my answer had changed.
The fourth cat seems to be a black silver broken mackerel tabby!

Hello Greer!
I’m a long-time foster who recently came into possession of half a litter of nine kittens— at eight weeks old they’re EXTREMELY neonatal (the biggest ones are around 20 ounces) and I suspect there are multiple fathers given the wide array of colors. I was wondering if you could guess what their dads looked like! You don’t have to, of course, it’s just idle curiosity on my part.
Tumblr media
(Kittens from three weeks ago, with their mother.)
Tumblr media
(Kittens from yesterday when we took our half of the litter).
There are two Siamese (one seal point, one tabby point), one black, one spotted tabby, one mackerel tabby, a third grey tabby whose markings I don’t know, and three solid greys.
We think there was at least two fathers, one to explain the coloration of the black kitten and one to explain the Siamese. Is it possible there was only one? Or even three?
Tumblr media
(As a tax, here’s the smallest and most Belephegor-like kitten. At eight weeks old, I swear she felt like less than a pound! All the smallest ones are staying with their mom and the old foster.)
hmm.....there might just be the one father?
let's start with the mother: she's shorthaired, dilute black, agouti but carries the recessive for solid-coloured (since she has solid kittens), mackerel tabby but carries the recessive for classic tabby, non-pointed but carries point.
now if there's just the one father, he could be shorthaired, black but carries dilute, agouti but carries solid (OR just pure solid), ticked tabby but carries the recessive for classic tabby, non-pointed but carries pointing. in other words, a guy that looks like this:
Tumblr media
or this:
Tumblr media
HOWEVER there might also be the silver/inhibitor gene at play, given the unusual look of this kitten in the back.
Tumblr media
though that could also be a fever-coat, which would mean the kitten will eventually grow out of it and look solid-coloured.
if the kitten does have a silver undercoat and ghost striping that doesn't fade with age, then it's a smoke (which is what silver is called in sold-coloured cats), which would mean the father is a silver ticked tabby:
Tumblr media
or a black smoke, with a ticked ghost pattern:
Tumblr media
the litter could all be explained by one father, but that doesn't mean there aren't multiple. in any case, they're a batch of very cute and colourful kittens!

Some lady in the block decided to plant lilies in her front garden. We have community cats— a bunch of strays that jump from one home to the next.
One by one, they began dropping like flies. We lost Toby, Morticia, Little Grey, Big Grey, Black Panther, Yogurt, and Scream. My friend also lost his indoor cat, Oreo.
For those unaware, the entire lily is toxic. It can lead to kidney failure if consumed. My friend watched as his cat went from being okay to crying in pain the last few hours of his life— and there was nowhere to go, we do not have emergency vets in my town, no 24/7 clinics. The closest one was 3 hours away and Oreo did not last 3 hours.
I will say that Oreo did not die fast, it was slow and painful. He began growing lethargic, did not want to eat, would throw up his water— began having bloody diarrhea, and eventually he died. This was over a span of days.
They should really put warnings on plants that are toxic/deadly to animals like it’s pretty insidious that there are plants that could potentially kill your dog being marketed as convenient low effort plants for beginners that have no knowledge I don’t think it would even occur to the average traitor joes shopper that they’d need to even look it up for safety reasons

Hi!! i was looking through the masterpost and couldn't find anything for it, so i wanted to ask- is there any guide to how cats would be described in the allegiances page in-game? ex. a rosette cat being described as "oddly-spotted" etc. i wanna use similar descriptors for cats, but the page only accounts for alive cats inside the clan, so i was wondering if theres any list of what pelt traits indicate what description is used?
Well, there was no resource for this, but let's make one now! I peeked into the files to grab the descriptors for you :]
Below the readmore, this is very long as I included everything that goes into it! Hopefully it helps <3
☆ Fable ☆
Colour Descriptors
"pale"— White
Only called "pale" if the cat is not singlecolour, twocolour, tortoiseshell, or calico. In these cases, it is called "white"
"pale gray"— Palegrey
"gray"— Grey
"dark gray"— Darkgrey
"pale ginger"— Paleginger
"dark ginger"— Darkginger, Sienna
"light brown"— Lightbrown, Lilac
"golden brown"— Golden-brown
"dark brown"— Darkbrown, Chocolate
"black"— Ghost
Colours that are listed the same as they are coded— Silver, Golden, Ginger, Brown, Black
Pattern Descriptors
"[colour] tabby"— Tabby, Marbled, Mackerel, Classic, Agouti, Sokoke
"speckled [colour]"— Speckled
"unusually dappled [colour]"— Bengal
"unusually spotted [colour]"— Rosette
"[colour] ticked"— Ticked
"[colour] smoke"— Smoke
"dorsal-striped [colour]"— Singlestripe
"masked [colour] tabby"— Masked
Tortoiseshell Descriptors
"[colour]"— [Base colour]/[Patch colour]
Base colour refers to the main colour, while patch colour refers to the colour of the cats patches. They are always written with the slash between them Examples: brown/ginger, pale gray/black
"[colour] tortie"— A tortoiseshell with either no white patch, or a white patch that is either classed as little white or mid white.
"[colour] calico"— A tortoiseshell with a white patch that is either classed as high white or mostly white.
"[colour] mottled"— A tortoiseshell whose base colour and patch colours are both in the brown, black, or white category
They do not need to both be in the same category, just one of those three; a lilac and ghost tortoiseshell will be listed as mottled, for example, but a lilac and ginger tortoiseshell will not
"[descriptor] tabby"— If a tortoiseshell has the pelt type Tabby, Ticked, Mackerel, Classic, Sokoke, Agouti, Bengal, Rosette, or Speckled, "tabby" is added after the descriptor.
Example: A Lilac and Ginger tortoiseshell tabby with the Rosette pattern and no white patches would be listed as a "light brown/ginger tortie tabby"
White Patch Descriptors
"[colour] and white"— A non-tortoiseshell with a white patch that is either classed as little white, mid white, or high white.
Can also be a tortoiseshell with a white patch that is either classed as little white or mid white
"white and [colour]"— A non-tortoiseshell with a white patch that is classed as mostly white.
"white"— A cat with the Fullwhite patch, regardless of what colour they are underneath. Overwrites their main colour
This is different to a singlecolour white cat as they have a different pelt type underneath the patch. Fullwhite cats that are tortoiseshell underneath are listed as calico on their profile page, but not the allegiances
"[colour] point"— A cat with one of the point markings
If a cat is a point under the ginger category, they are listed as a flame point
Gender Descriptors
"she-cat"— Female, Trans Female
"tom"— Male, Trans Male
"cat"— All other identities
Extra Descriptors
"vitiligo"— A cat with vitiligo
Missing body parts have special listings, as follows;
"no tail"— NoTail "half a tail"— HalfTail "three legs"— NoPaw "a missing ear"— NoLeftEar, NoRightEar "no ears"— NoEar
Vitiligo and missing body parts are joined together as "vitiligo, [scar], [scar] and [scar]"
"scarred [colour]"— A cat with three or more scars
"long-furred [colour]"— A cat with long fur
Putting it Together
For a non-tortoiseshell with no white patches:
a [extra] [colour] [pattern/tortoiseshell] [white] [gender] with [extra]
You would remove any non-used sections. Examples below;
a long-furred dorsal-striped pale gray tom with vitiligo and three legs
a dark ginger/light brown tortie tabby she-cat
a scarred white and unusually spotted black cat
a long-furred scarred light brown/black mottled point she-cat with no tail, three legs and a missing ear

Some cute cats
[ID: a drawing of several disabled Warrior Cats characters. Leafstar is a brown and cream tabby with cataracts, sitting down. Crookedstar is a big brown mackerel tabby with his jaw twisted to one side, with some teeth and his tongue sticking out. His nose is also twisted upwards and his eye is squinted. Cinderpelt is a gray cat with a few white spots, with a twisted hind leg she is keeping off the ground. Brightheart is an orange-and-white cat with significant scarring on one side of her face, without an eye, ear, or lip on that side, and scarring over the rest of her body, in a sitting position. Deadfoot is a black cat with a twisted front foot, which he keeps off the ground as he runs. Briarlight is a dark brown colorpoint cat with paralyzed back legs. Her front legs are fairly buff and she appears to be talking to Jayfeather, who is a silver cat with markings like a blue jay on his face and blue eyes, blind from birth. He is sitting and his large ear is pointed towards Briarlight. Longtail is also a silver tabby with scratched blind eyes, which are slightly open with the third eyelid showing. He is relaxed and smiling. end ID]
