this is my cat, taiyaki! i'm always unsure what color he is, since he's far more "blonde" than orange. he has stripes and white markings on his nose, stomach, underside of the tail, and paws (except for one toe, which i call the hole in his sock). he also has freckles on his nose and toes :) thank you!!!
this lovely boy looks like a cream mackerel tabby with low white! cream is the dilute of red, so he is paler than a cat who does not display dilute, like your average red tabby :3

What would you call this calico? I’m curious about why there’s tabby stripes in her orange areas but not the black area - is that common?
What a gorgeous girl! this cat looks like a black self tortoiseshell with medium white !
your cat is genetically solid, hence why her black patches are solid. However, red cats always display tabby, even if they're genetically solid. This is why she's black self with red tabby :3

This little shit’s fur has been a mystery to me for all 11 years of her existence. I don’t have any full body shots of her though, hopefully these are good enough. ^^
miss girl! to me she looks like a black classic tortoiseshell tabby ... I Think. she seems to have a lighter spot above her eyes but that does fluctuate depending on lighting.

do you perchance know if there are any blogs like yours but for dogs?
not off the top of my head, no :(
but honestly that would be hell. i know so little about dog genetics but even the terminology is hell to navigate because there are so many terms for the same genes, and even different genes for each term (looking at sable. there's like 3? genes named sable that have to do with fur??) props to them if someone does do one, but oh my god. torture.

This is goose!
I tried to include a couple different lightings. I go back and forth on his base color. I think cream (dilute red), but I'm curious if there's a word for how light his chest/underside is
Happy to hear your input tho!
ohh!! such a pretty boy! Goose looks like a cream spotted tabby :)
