my twin sons chicken nugget (pink chairs) and large fry (shoe and tongue). are they the same phenotype? chicken nugget is a bit more warm toned and large fry has greener eyes.

blue mackerel tabbies! so cutiesssss!! slight differences in rufousing can affect how warm the colouring is!

This is The Creature, as as yet unnamed (though currently they’re considering Gizmo) kitten my best friend just got.
I honestly just wanted to show him off cause he’s real cute! He’s from a shelter, and he’s a beautiful dark gray all around except for that one tiny white locket on his chest. He’s also not a long hair but not a short hair either, his tail is super fluffy.
What a beautiful little creature! he looks like a blue self with low white!

These are my little guys! First image (left to right) is Namir and other one is Zazam. They're brothers!

Namir looks to be a black spotted tabby, while Zazam looks to be a blue broken mackerel tabby! A duo for the ages, how lovely!

hi im kind of at a loss for where to go for answers so im reaching out here :) this is prince and i dont think hes grey but he looks too grey to be fawn and too brown to be lilac. idk what his damage is. hes my friends cat and they insist hes just grey but i know what a grey cat looks like and it probably isnt this. but i can be proved wrong

what a creature!!! that last photo... it speaks to me in a way i cannot describe using text alone.
(+asker's ID and bonus photo)
I think you've got it spot-on! im sure youve taken rufousing into account, as you can see the cat much better than I ever could through a mechanical facsimile for organic sight, and you've got it from what I can tell!
#“oh man i sure do wonder what the mods get up to when they're not IDing cats” idk about jay but saying weird shit online is what i do#and that includes being weird about machines... i think everytime i think about the concept of a camera i black out ... literally--#--because its literally so awesome. mechanical facsimile for the human sight? to carry meaning from experience into concrete object?#to capture a moment never seen again.. to make it seen again? thats kinda beautiful#. anyways right im on the cat blog. yeah. whoops#ahem. sorry about that .#mod robin#identifiCATion#blue caramel tabby#blue tabby#tabbies#ask

This is mooface. Never knew her bc family gave her away a little before i was born but I think she has vitiligo? Am i insane? Its hard to tell if its just white spotting. I don’t know how vitty kitty’s fur works, or how it’s distributed so 💖
I can see why you thought vitiligo, but the way the fur is patterned on the face and paws points me towards believing they're a black self tortoiseshell. What a lovely little creature! Perfect loaf formation!

Hello! I recently adopted this lil kitty. She's got some white on her belly, and her tail is obviously very striped but her body pattern is pretty solid. Am I right in thinking the tail points to smoke? If you squint you can kinda see some tabby idk
Thank you!
That looks to me to be cream (dilute red) which means she is always a tabby! Red cats almost always have tabby striping, but given the fact you mentioned not being able to see her body stripes, one could argue for ticked tabby patterns!
Smoke on cream / red tabbies is rather clear sometimes, and sometimes just isn't. The best way to check is to look at the base of the hairs. If they're white, then there's a large chance you have a smoke cat on your hands!
final verdict: cream ticked tabby, low white!
#mod robin#once the bottom image loaded on my end i burst out laughing... thats a lovely reaction image photo#ask#identifiCATion#cream ticked tabby#cream tabby#tabbies#low white

My girl Babylon! Currently in a waiting room because she ate some Tylenol :( shes a good girl though. Her arms have this pretty light brown, same around her eyes!
It's been a while since this ask was sent in, I hope she's doing alright now! Babylon looks like a blue classic tabby with medium white! That brown looks, to me, to just be effects of rufousing (which basically determines a tabby's "saturation")

I met this cutie on vacation and I'm wondering what's making him switch fur colour\type halfway this way? Whenever I see cats that are half-and-half, they usually have their right and left side different, not front and back.
To me, it looks like just some really extreme UV damage to the fur. This darling creature probably just has a well-loved sunning spot, given that they're a black self (although, I can't tell if the white on the neck of the second image is white fur or skin)
