Oh my goodness a real post? Anyways beholdeth I had so many issues with getting the layers to merge and still look the way i wanted and i eventually gave up
#uwu galaxy#art#Double-eded snow#Blaze it down#Blaze's design will change between this post and whatever i draw next#Fair warning cause I want to make her a false tabby like all orange cats are(cream is dilute so still orange)#I take so many liberties with cat genetics#cause i say snow is a ticked tabby but based on how she looks she should be a spotted tabby but like...#My design philosophy is 40% genetics 70% what I think looks cool#I will stretch what a ticked tabby is for Snow#warriorcatsoc#warriors oc

Sorry for sending another ask immediately i just found this photo of a stray cat that i always see around the same area. Shes gorgeous and im really curious about her fur :3
hi i’m answering this immediately because holy shit? this cat has some stuff that shouldn’t be possible. y’all know how much i don’t like people to jump the gun on saying something is a chimera but, uh
there could be a few things going on here? my immediate thought was a silver black spotted tortoiseshell tabby (torbie) and a non-silver red, but although the cream parts match with the color of silver reds, the tabby pattern doesn’t continue there? this could potentially be a black spotted tortoiseshell tabby (torbie) with VERY low rufousing that makes it look silver and a dilute red (cream) ticked or pseudo tabby ? (both variations with low white) also the distribution of the colors is pretty dang unusual. maybe some kind of mosaicism? dude i’m stumped
@felinefractious @amber-tortoiseshell pls

WC x Rain World Art Month
Little intermission before I make and post my Hunter design for Warriors x Rain World, a little family tree including Goldenheart (Monk), Yarrowleap (Survivor), as well as their parents and third sibling!
You can consider these relatives to be background characters, none of them are part of the clans, or at least not yet. I'll try to go in order (ramble under read more)!
also if anyone has questions about my AU. Feel free to ask <3
Hemlock - The father! Lock is a ginger shorthair cameo Mackerel (I know he doesn't look like it very much, I find "gray base with orange stripes" a bit hard to pull off). He was the loving mate of Carob, before he went missing and presumed dead. Taken away by Twolegs, never to be seen by his little family again... In reality, Hemlock was TNR'd. He is trying to find his mate and kits, but I feel like he's the sort of guy to get pulled into side quests along the way. Maybe run-ins with the Scavengers, helping some random cat, whatever.
Carob - The mother! Carob is a longhair fawn-and-cream calico, though she's mostly white. I'm gonna be honest, the poor she-cat is going through it. Raised in an underfunded, understaffed shelter, she has learned to cut her losses, no matter how much it hurts, especially when she's not the most well-versed in survival. First, Hemlock was captured by Twolegs, then, she lost two of her kits, (whom she had named after flowers in his honor, fun fact). No matter how devastating this loss was, she didn't think she had any chance of successfully going after Marigold and Waterlily (/Golden and Yarrow). She had to keep Yucca safe, who very much seemed like the runt at the time. Carob is still wandering around, now much older, with Yucca in toe.
(You know about Goldenheart and Yarrowleap already so I won't go into more detail now, this is already quite long. For what it's worth, though: Goldenheart is a longhair cream ticked tabby, Yarrowleap is a blue smoke shorthair with high white.)
Yucca - The fabled third sibling, Yucca is a silver ticked tabby. They are sort of a more adventurous and cheerful counterpart to their mother, though less blindly optimistic then one might consider Goldenheart. They were born the smallest and seemingly weakest of the lot, as such being quite coddled. Whether it be from not growing up alone or simple genetics, Yucca grew up to actually be quite a large and strong cat, moreso than Yarrow. Yucca, similar to their mom, doesn't have much hope in finding their siblings, though unlike her, they believe that they survived. In the midst of keeping themselves and Carob alive, they try to suss out any information they can. It hasn't been working out too well though, as the pair linger closer to the Twolegplace than the Clans.

can you tell me what the f*ck is going on with Hope?
he's mostly cream, not white, i know he looks a little pale in this image 😔
my first instinct was a chocolate self tortoiseshell and white. HOWEVER. as he is a cream colour this is not so.
Cream cats, as a dilute of red, are always tabbies even if they're genetically solid. He could be a ticked tabby cream, but we'd still see some tabby markings, especially on his face.
so I'm considering maybe a chocolate self tortoiseshell and white (with the white hidden by the chimera) and a fawn self chimera. This would allow Hope to have solid patches that appear cream, along with blue eyes, and his red and chocolate colouration.
maybe a fawn caramel? this could make him appear more cream...
On the other hand, he could also be a highly rufoused chocolate classic tabby (with white) chimera with fawn self, which would account for the brightness of his tabby patches. interesting design! i got to go off the rails with this one
final assessment: some kind of chimera, maybe with fawn?
Hi, Jay asked me to help assess this one! My first thought was "Oh, this could be labeled fawn!"
The white (cream-ish base that the other markings seem to be drawn over) clocks me as high white. This is partly due to the fact that the eyes are a pale blue, and that it doesn't match any pointing genes. Simple.
Other than that, my thoughts lead to a chocolate tortoiseshell self with high white!
I'll be tagging both of them in the post, because both options are valid interpretations!

my cat, momo, has been the center of several 'controversies' amongst my friends because sometimes she looks beige (is that also called buff? for real? like "in the buff" as in nude? i find that so funny) or "fawn"? but she also looks super orange?
he seems to be a dilute red (cream) ticked tabby with low white spotting! his look does seem to vary pretty widely with lighting but i think he’s just a pretty saturated cream

Hiii I’m the girl from YouTube ! Here’s my kitty, as you can see the cream color is visible only with a certain lighting, I don’t know, it might be just some highlights
Oh VERY cute!!
I'm glad you sent me some pics! I have very interesting things to say about your lovely kitty :3
So tabbies aren't actually "a cat who is [color] with stripes on top," rather, a tabby's "true" color IS their stripes, and then Tabby Genes add lighter parts in-between.
Basically, what happens is the Tabby Gene adds what's called "agouti" to some hairs. Agouti is banding of a lighter color (usually red) which makes the hair appear lighter from a distance.
This causes the "brown" look of brown tabbies, who are genetically black.
Some tabbies have bands that are not very red. Some tabbies have bands that are pretty decently red. And finally, some tabbies have bands that are VERY VERY red. This causes cats of seemingly different colors.
^ Both of these cats are "brown tabbies," AKA black tabbies, despite one looking gray.
Additionally, on a single cat, rufousing tends to be higher in certain areas: the belly, face, neck, and generally underside of the cat tend to be redder than the rest.
Look at the cats in the image above: the one on the right has a VERY red muzzle compared to the rest of their brown body. The light, paler color around the neck, inside the ears, and the lower jaw are also due to rufousing. You can see on the cat on the left, slightly more yellow-y on the chest (facing us) than on the shoulders & rest of the body, and a redder spot on the nose.
Thus, the way we tell a cat's color is by their stripes, not by the colors between their stripes :3
Your cat is SUPER cool because it's not very common for blue cats to have such high rufousing!
Your cat's "ginger" is in the places where rufousing goes, and is a lot "softer" & more even than tortie markings tend to look. But the biggest piece of evidence is this:
Here's a reddish patch on the neck.......with blue stripes! Thus, patch is genetically BLUE, not red - meaning it's rufousing, not tortie!
Up close, your cat's hairs probably look something like this:
Here's some more blue cats with super high rufousing:
(They don't have stripes bc their tabby gene is being modified by additional genes that tell the cat's fur to ONLY have agouti hairs. it's called "ticked" :3 these breeds are Abyssinian and Somali, who have SUPER high rufousing as a breed standard)
Anyway, it seems I was wrong in the YouTube comments - she's NOT a torbie, she's just a REALLY cool blue tabby!
I'm really glad you sent me pics so I could clear up :3 thanks again!!
