I wanna show you guys something here.
Gotta admit first that I’m Thai to begin with.
And these sketches, at first I had a funny thought about ;What if Ramakien has a proper game like Wukong?; I’m literally got this whole idea when I was in a shower so I rushed outta there and draw these pics none stop for a whole day.
I wanna share you these because I think that it’s quite interesting. For me as a Thai person, I rarely see any game that based on Ramakien which us Thai people adore it so much, so yeah, I was just imagine “What if we got that AAA game about Ramakien?”
My huge inspirations here is Black Myth: Wukong, I love the fact that the main character is a monkey, so iconic, honestly love that. And the user interface theme I was inspired by Witcher 3 and Starfield. Also the bathing scene for the second pic I got an idea from Red Dead Redemption 2.
Please, I expect no drama or hateful behavior here, my brain wasn’t in a right state when I was in the shower. I’m not claiming that Ramakien is a Thai thing, I just draw these characters and plot in Thai version. Thank you🙏
(Sorry for my error grammar, but I tried my best.)

Black Myth Wukong: Journal Entries
Personal use only, not for sale! I don't do commissions either.
I loved this game so but I wished there was a way to read the journal entries while listening to the Music Library, so I've decided to make my own physical book with all the journal entries. Also because because staring at the TV screen reading the tiny fonts was too much on my eyes.
✦ Everything is made by myself, from the book formatting to the text block and case and slipcase. ✦Yaoguai portraits are screenshots I took from my game, the entries text are copied from the fandom wiki page. ✦ Endpapers are foild with red foil and the slipcase pattern are the achievement pictures, which I printed on textile for the slipcase. ✦ I decided to format the book to be read from right-to-left, as this is how text in ancient china were read. ✦ Front page illustration is a screenshot I traced from the game
WIPs: https://szynkaaa.tumblr.com/post/761687159583473664/some-progress-textblock-has-been-sewn-together-i https://szynkaaa.tumblr.com/post/761966032402432000/endpapers-have-been-foiled https://szynkaaa.tumblr.com/post/762358966045016064/some-more-wips-both-copies-are-cased-in-so-the https://szynkaaa.tumblr.com/post/762969024938295296/got-the-achievement-icons-printed-on-textile-to
Link to the PDF of journal entries for those who wants to read it on your device.
Some journal entries are incorrect, typos have not been fixed either, I might go back and fix the mistakes another time! It is read right-to-left, so please scroll to the last page of the PDF to start reading :)
I'm kindly asking you to not use professional book printing services to print your own book, thank you!

Greetings! I hope you're having an at least decent weekend. Is it just me or is Stephen Chow involved in a lot of jttw/swk centered media? & do you have anything to say about any of Stephen Chow's jttw/swk centered work?
Stephen Chow WAS Sun Wukong in what could be considered the most iconic Sun Wukong that changed the game. I'm not kidding that there could be a butterfly effect on how Stephen Chow's Wukong in the Chinese Odyssey became such a classic we see how it has affected games, shows, and movies even years later. Dare I say it but I think Stephen Chow could have been just as influential to Wukong's development in modern media as much as even Liu Xiao Ling Tong with how IMPACTFUL his Wukong was.
I have to say that Stephen Chow does have a certain scene of humor that you see in all his movies, not just Journey to the West. He can be raunchy, violent, and nonsensical so I would say that his style of movies might not land with everyone but Stephen Chow undoubtedly always puts a lot of heart into his characters which is what really makes people connect with his movies. He is a master of incorporating meaningful connections through the most ridiculous and insane situations that humans could find themselves in and that is part of his charm seeing both the humor and the tragedy in life as they often go hand and hand. I would suggest reading more about his style here since I think it puts into words how his art form is expressed.
But there can be a fascinating conversation to say just HOW much his Sun Wukong has influenced even modern Journey to the West media. Chinse Odessey was nearly 30 years ago and yet its impact is still being seen today in movies that are directly related to his films, versus movies and shows that he is directly or indirectly involved in today.
Journey to the West Conquering the Demons (2030) (tv remake on Chow’s Wukong)
Black Myth Wukong (2024)
The Monkey King (2023)
A Chinese Odyssey 1 (2022)
A Chinese Odyssey - Origin (2022)
Journey to the West - ARPG (2019)
Bio of Wukong (2017)
The Legend of Sun Wukong (2017)
A Chinese Odyssey TV series (2017)
Journey to the West Demon Strikes Back (2017)
A Chinese Odyssey Part Three (2016)
Honor of Kings (2015)
Taste of Love (2015)
Journey to the West Conquering the Demon (2013)
Asura Online (2010)
Even in movies that he is NOT involved in like Monkey King: The One and Only (2021) 大圣无双 where the Wukong actor is basing his performance clearly on Demon Strikes Back (2017) Wukong. Not to mention nearly EVERY SINGLE Wukong x SO plot line where the SO dies in the end could be traced back to Chinese Odyssey. If you hate how much Wukong's love interests are killed off in media, you can somewhat blame Stephen Chow, not for doing it first, but for doing it WELL and then dozens of directors for years to come trying to recapture that magic but falling short of what made people love that tragic romance in the first place.
Chinese Odessey was made in 1995 and led to the light novel Bio of Wukong which was made in 2000 and at least 4 more movies and its own TV show. The Bio of Wukong was so popular that it led to the inspiration of Asura Online game based is the story and its own movie Immortal Demon Slayer. Stephen Chow continued to make his own movies Conquering the Demon and Demon Strikes Back. He also goes on to help produce Monkey King 2023 and even makes plans to help produce an entire TV series based on his own universe. Asura Online was worked on by Game Science who continued to work on the creation of Black Myth Wukong. This isn't even to mention the spin-offs, sequels, and prequels to Chow's movies and still how they are influencing directors today.
I can't express how much Chow has impacted the very image of Sun Wukong from being a fighter to a tragic hero. I even took from an ENTIRE CHPATER from Transforming Monkey: Adaptation and Representation by Hongmei Sun bout the CULTURAL impact that fans had with Chinese Odessey and how it became such a cult classic. He was the one to really reshape what Wukong could mean to people, not just a hero in an action movie, but a tragic figure that is forced to give up his individualism for the sake of saving the world because no one else can. That the burden of being 'Sun Wukong' can be relatable to anyone and anyone can see their own struggles with how Wukong tries not just to fight demons, but also fight himself.
I have so many feelings on the intricacies of how Wukong's character changes throughout each generation and each audience across countries and what he means to each new audience but never loses what makes him so beloved and keeps him still going strong after 400 years. And I think that Stephen Chow plays a huge and critical part in how Wukong has changed yet again in the public eye. Wukong going from a pure heroic figure to now a tragic hero who has all the power in the world but still finds himself falling short of what he desires in life. I think that this was a vital step in show the complexity and having more directors and the audience toy with the notion of Wukong's internal battle with his identity versus him always just fighting physical battles.
I will say that Chow's influence did lead to the popularity of the Journey to the West Conspiracy Theory which I am not personally a fan of. It is not that it can't be fun or interesting but moreso I believe that this theory has been drawn out far too long in the past 20 years and that it is time for a new nuance perspective to take its place. Genres have waves of new tropes and cliches and I do believe the 'heaven bad, yaoguai misunderstood' has been played out a tad too long to be charming anymore. I think this was a vital step in Wukong’s and Journey to the West adaptions but I also believe that now more can be built upon this premise to allow for more creative ideas that reflect a more modern audience.
I think that the audience that has grown up with Chow's work (Chinese Odessey at least) is now at the age where they can produce and create their own material and we are still seeing how this audience is echoing the same statements of Chow's Tragic Hero standpoint. I don't know what else I can say that I haven't said before but the sheer magnitude of changing a character's image is shocking and I hope that we see what new form Sun Wukong shall take!

I have a Sun Wukong tea pet. He keeps me company as I slowly read through Journey to the West (I’m on volume 2, and it’s all Overly Sarcastic Productions’ fault for getting me hooked), and he sits in front of the tv the rest of the time. Well, I started playing Black Myth: Wukong this week, and this wasn’t planned but-
That loading icon couldn’t have been more perfectly placed if I’d tried.

What was your inspo for the jttw/fsyy oufit designs? They look sick as hell! /pos
Finally I can answer this —
My main inspirations come from movie designs and even fanart of certain designs for Erlang and SWK!
Erlang
in order: New Gods: Yang Jian, Monkey King Hero is Back, the 99 cartoon, Black Myth: Wukong and I don’t remember the OG source for the last image but it helped with the design idea
The main thing I wanted was for him to have some elements of being a former Heavenly soldier (helm, feather, armor) but also look semi-retired? He’s no longer a soldier for Heaven and doesn’t want to partake in their affairs lest offered something worth his time. His character/personality spurs mostly from New Gods but it does have some Black Myth elements as well! I wanted his eyes to no longer be visible (‘justice must be blind’) apart from his third eye and I might tweak it a little but, we’ll see
Sun Wukong
in order: Hero is Back, Monkey King Reborn, Legends of the Monkey King, Black Myth: Wukong and Nezha Reborn Concepts
I wanted him to have a mane and have those iconic reds and blues without the need of a mask—his eyes are scarred and charcoal which give a more intimidating vibe to them me thinks! He’s big because I need him to be bigger than the average man (human) while remaining smaller than a dragon or bull yao! His personality is mostly derived from Hero is Back and Reborn but there’s some New Gods in there too
Most of my inspiration also comes from fanart, especially those in the jttw/fsyy community because they KILL it constantly. I try not to overexert myself with too many details because it makes it easier to repeatedly draw these designs esp for future animatics
Most iconic thing though: Erlang’s skin is jade, SWK’s fur is brown, Nezha’s skin is scarred in the shape of lotuses and Chenxiang has smaller scars on his hands from wielding his axe!
I have fun with these :3

Help the sims community play other games: what are your favorite games apart from TS4?
(whatDoYouMeanIAskBecauseOfSimblrBingo)
Are you sure you should be asking me 😭😭😭
First and foremost,
Warframe
you can play dress up with your frames
Mass Effect (Trilogy and Andromeda)
Trilogy
Andromeda
(Yeah i'm including this because YOU CAN ROMANCE ALIENS)
God Eater Series
God Eater Resurrection (Or Burst, or just the first GE)
GE 2: Rage Burst
GE 3
The way GE Resurrection and GE2 was just me showcasing Soma LMAOOOO (that's my husband yall)
Special mention: Black Myth: Wukong
Unfortunately, I don't have screenies because I haven't bought it yet and my laptop clearly wouldn't be able to run it. However, I've watched the whole gameplay and it was amazing. I can't wait to get adult money and spend it for the game.
Conclusion:
Do not ask me what games to play besides TS4 (or all sims games honestly) because this is what I'll be suggesting you. Definitely not cozy anymore 😭 anyways, if you're up for hack and slash, customization, and deep confusing and ???? lore, play Warframe. (This game is grindy though, you gotta have a lot of freetime for this one; I played a lot when I was in 3rd year and I can't even play this game much this year)
If you want to romance aliens, listen to Jennifer Hale's iconic voice as the female Commander Shepard, play the Mass Effect Trilogy.
You want more of Mass Effect? Come to Andromeda. It has semi open worlds, lovely Jaal, and your suit got a jetpack.
Both Mass Effect titles follows the same "choices matter" system you'll find in another BioWare game (Dragon Age).
If you want more hack and slash but like story progressive, play God Eater. People say it's like Monster Hunter, so if you have experience from that game, I'm sure you can play GE.
Those are the games for me when I'm tired of the sims. TS4 making you insane and hella mad? Play these games. It'll worsen your mood. 😂😂😂

balatro should have won game of the year. im sorry, but i OBJECTIVELY think that. who the fuck played astro bot other than families and nobody cozy streamers? sure black myth wukong, metaphor, and final fantasy were critically acclaimed, but those studios are just going to lay those workers off after their big sales in a few months time. and why the FUCK is a DLC in that category?
the sheer fact of an indie game, made by ONE PERSON, and being poker hands with roguelike mechanics, winning it big against titans of the industry and culture itself would have been the literal saving grace of gaming. but no, we'll just go back to shitting out products with microtransactions and clout being their only selling point.
i will stand by these hot takes, because yes, i AM shitting on those iconic cultural games. we are in the era where major games are riddled with bugs, horrible deadlines, awful optimization, shitty player communication, and the same gimmicks we had last decade. sure you can say "but they were good!" and yes, they WERE. but the industry standard is shit something out and lap up the cash before the players notice.
balatro should have won game of the year. see you next year, geoff. your judges blew it.

Yaoqi David Guo: Innovation Over Imitation
The recent release of the AAA game Black Myth: Wukong has captured the attention of gamers worldwide and has trended on numerous social media platforms. This game, developed by the Chinese company Game Science, has generated significant anticipation among players due to its outstanding graphics and meticulous attention to detail. In the gaming industry, more and more developers are focusing on excellence and striving for perfection. In the mobile gaming sector, strategy games generated $355 million in revenue in 2023, with independent game development companies performing exceptionally well. The developers behind this success, Top Games Inc., prioritize the development of high-quality games. The team members adopt a data-driven approach combined with OKR (Objectives and Key Results) and MVP (Minimum Viable Product) methodologies, achieving excellence quietly and effectively.
Yaoqi Guo, also known as David Guo, is the CEO and co-founder of Top Games Inc. He is recognized for his forward-thinking and innovative approach in the gaming industry. Anticipating the rise of mobile gaming from browser games in 2012, Guo formed a team of professionals to focus on developing mobile games. In 2017, “Evony: The King’s Return” aired during the Super Bowl, significantly boosting its recognition. The game’s high quality and immersive strategy experience earned it a steady rating of over 4 stars on major platforms. In the first quarter, it won the prestigious NYX Silver Award in the NYX Game Awards Season 1. By September, “Evony” ranked 5th among mid-core games in the United States, according to Data.ai. It concluded the year by winning the Samsung Galaxy Store 2022 Best MMO Award.
Technological Advancements and Market Growth
In 2023, the global mobile gaming market revenue reached $76.7 billion, a 22% increase from pre-pandemic levels, indicating steady recovery. Projections suggest further growth, potentially surpassing $100 billion by 2028. The U.S. remains the highest revenue market, maintaining $41.7 billion in 2023. While mid-core game revenue has dipped, it still constitutes 59% of total market revenue. Casual games have shown robust performance, with hybrid casual game revenue growing by 30% to $2.1 billion. The mobile gaming market demonstrates strong growth potential, driven by technological advancements and increasing consumer spending.
Embracing Emerging Technologies
Guo advocates for integrating AR, VR, and MR technologies into mobile gaming to enhance immersion and interaction. These technologies can create interactive environments, boosting the realism and appeal of gaming experiences. The combination of wearables and games has attracted players seeking immersive experiences, prompting large companies to invest in developing headsets and other wearable devices.
Innovation Over Imitation
Guo emphasizes the importance of innovation in game development. He criticizes developers who focus solely on fast development and copying successful games, arguing that such practices disrupt fair market competition and erode player trust. “Why do major game companies like Blizzard consistently release iconic games loved worldwide? Because great game designers understand that only novel ideas can lead the online gaming market,” Guo stated in a 2011 interview. “Evony,” with its unique game mechanics, has enjoyed lasting popularity, accumulating over $200 million in downloads. The game's appeal lies in its rich learning and strategy elements, allowing players to summon historical figures from different civilizations, enhancing both entertainment and educational value. Additionally, its robust social system fosters strong connections among players.
The Evony team regularly introduces engaging events to keep players interested, such as the recent “Season 10 Battle of Chalons Event” and “Constantinople Ultimate War Season,” which spans six continents. The top 256 alliances from each continent will compete in the Battle of Chalons, beginning at the end of the Constantinople Ultimate War Season.
Leadership and Global Success
“Evony: The King’s Return” showcases Guo’s expertise and leadership. His forward-looking approach and embrace of new technologies have positioned Top Games Inc. as a leader in innovation. Under Guo’s guidance, Top Games Inc. has released a diverse portfolio of popular titles, including “Plague of Z,” “Mafia Origin,” “Alliance of Glory,” “Kings Legion,” “Infinity Clan,” and “Dream Journey Makeover.” Benjamin Gifford, Vice Development Director of Evony and Vice President of Top Games Inc., spearheads development efforts. The company’s games reach a global audience, available in over 150 countries and 26 languages.

I don’t know about the music but the costume is something you’d commonly recognize if you’re in or from China, because it’s one of China’s most iconic, long-standing myths: Sun Wukong the Monkey King, who also happens to be the inspiration for Goku from DBZ.
If you’re unfamiliar with it, Overly Sarcastic Productions has a great video series on the sheer chaos that is Sun Wukong and the novel he comes from, called Journey to the West! Most people view it as the first DnD campaign or the first anime because of the tropes it uses so early on, and Sun Wukong sort of rivals Goku and Superman in crazy superpowers.
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDb22nlVXGgdg_NR_-GtTrMnbMVmtSSXa
https://youtu.be/61nuXrvqNgI
youtube
My personal favourite version of Sun Wukong will always be the 1999 animated cartoon with its killer theme song:
https://youtu.be/8CtY3x0J83o
youtube
But Sun Wukong is just as famous in live-action as he is animated, so the costume is a pretty accurate representation of how he usually looks in live-action lol.

youtube
He’s actually getting his own video game! Idk if you ever heard of Black Myth: Wukong, but it looks super cool!:
https://youtu.be/nOMIwsupy9k
youtube
You can also find him in the classical 1961-4 animated film Uproar in Heaven or in forms of Chinese opera and in numerous other adaptations. Basically, he’s really, really famous. 😆
