In the world of jewelry, certain pieces transcend trends and become timeless symbols of culture and belief. The "Kale Ghode Ki Naal" ring, also known as the "Black Horse Shoe Ring," is one such iconic ornament that has captivated hearts for generations. In this article, we'll delve into the origins, symbolism, and the significance of the original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring.
The Origin of the Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring
The Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring has its roots deeply embedded in Indian folklore and superstition. "Kale" translates to black, "Ghode" signifies horse, and "Naal" refers to a horseshoe. As the name suggests, this ring is adorned with a miniature black horseshoe, usually made of iron or steel. It traces its origins back to centuries and is believed to possess protective properties against negative energies and the evil eye.
Symbolism and Significance
The primary symbolism associated with the Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring is that of protection and warding off malevolent influences. In many cultures, the horseshoe has been regarded as a symbol of good luck and a shield against evil forces. When worn as a ring, it is believed to create a barrier of positivity around the wearer, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Originality and Authenticity
In recent times, the market has witnessed an influx of imitation rings claiming to be "original." However, it's crucial for buyers to be discerning and seek out authentic sources, such as trusted jewelers and specialty stores. An original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring is typically crafted from iron or steel, materials known for their magnetic properties, believed to enhance the ring's protective qualities.
Wearing and Caring for Your Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring
To harness the protective properties of the ring, it is traditionally worn on the middle finger of the right hand. Some individuals also opt to wear it on a chain around their neck. To preserve the originality and authenticity of the ring, it's essential to keep it clean and dry, avoiding exposure to moisture, chemicals, or harsh sunlight.
Modern Interpretations
While the original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring continues to be a symbol of tradition and protection, it has also found its place in contemporary fashion. Many jewelry designers incorporate this unique piece into their collections, offering variations in materials and designs to cater to individual preferences.
Conclusion
The original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring is more than just a piece of jewelry; it is a talisman that carries with it deep cultural roots and symbolism. It serves as a reminder of our connection to age-old traditions and the enduring belief in protection from negative energies. Whether worn for its spiritual significance or as a fashion statement, this ring continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many who value both style and tradition.

A story of Damian coming to terms with the world he grew up in, told in verse
He fights a girl who, in another life, might have been his friend. Their blades sing when they parry in tandem. The runt of the family is still an heir, so they fight for the title. If he were kinder, he would not strike her. Would not look into flinty eyes and smite her fire into the ground harder. Would hold her hand and throw away titles, rather than battle for heir apparent.
As it is, and as it should be, a kind prince Damian was not.
Lazarus waters used to enchant his young gaze. He looked and saw life restored and health dealt in spades. Second chances in pools of jade. He would stand, frozen in awe, forgetting to close his jaw, green reflections playing on the walls. His grandfather would catch his expression and smile, a fond hand mussing his hair. A lucky child who had it all.
There was a day, a moment, that Damian will never forget. Mother found him at dawn, roused him awake, and shushed his protests. She crouched before him in the dark, waited for his eyes to adjust, and held them when she said, "Listen closely, my love, and remember what I'm about to tell you."
He was wide awake. His heart pounded, sweat pooling at his temples with the amount of focus he took to imprint Mother's words to memory.
"There may come a time when you lose hope in the world. There are horrible things and terrible people that will make you believe all the world has to offer is rotten. But for every bad thing in this world, there exists good out there to balance it. Always remember it, my love, yes? Say it with me: for every bad deed in the world..."
"For-for every bad deed in the world..." his little voice repeated in the darkness.
"...there is good too" Mother finished.
"...there is good too."
"Say it again."
"For every bad deed in the world," Damian said, "there is good too."
"Yes, my love."
Mother wrapped him in her arms, his face buried in her shoulder in wild hair that smelled like flowers.
It was that day, that noon, that Damian began to understand why Mother had said what she had said. That was the day his training truly began.
"Fight to the death." Grandfather's voice echoed and filled the dungeon. His green eyes, calm as they were, said this wasn't a matter of discussion.
Damian's opponent was a white man with an overgrown beard and no legs. His arms, thin as blades and with sores like eyes, fell from their chains when Grandfather set him free and handed him a scabbard. His shockingly blue eyes did not look at Damian.
There was a certain glory to battle, no matter how bloody and brutal, that was a balm on taking a soul. Damian had known that glory before. But fighting this man was no fight at all. No battle, no glory. Only the simple
and irreversible act
of killing a man.
Damian vomited beside the man’s corpse. Grandfather, that one time, did not disapprove and clasped Damian’s shoulder with his ringed fingers.
"Well done, my grandson."
Blood had long since left Damian's head. He sat on his bed with numb legs and tingling fingertips. A drop of vomit was on his shoe. He hadn't cried, and yet his nose was clogged. Air weighed tons as it settled in his lungs. Black spots danced and danced, and a steady beat hammered inside his head.
"For every bad deed in the world," he said through a thick throat, "there is good too." He didn't understand it, but he said it anyway.
"For every bad deed in the world, there is good too."
The sun rises and he rides at dawn. Across empires, with a metal spine. His horse runs and never tires. Sparks fly at the beat of her hooves. He delves deep into tunnels and catacombs. Down, down, near the earth's core. Heat presses at his bones. Into the crucible, he goes. Trials are how swords are forged.
He pulls his sword from the sheath at his spine, and takes it to families and hordes. Cuts a path through bodies bigger than his own, until he wears more blood than clothes. His spine is heated, shaped, and hammered. Down, down, through the fire he goes.
The last opponent is the runt of the family. A small creature too young to fight, too soon to know battle at all. He strikes the ground with his torch, sparks fly at them both.
"Fight! Fight for all you're worth!"
The creature is the last of its kind. It makes a mournful sound and kisses blood off his nose.
He sinks to his knees like a heated sword through water.
The trial is done and he rides home. The sun sets on his soul.
The anatomy of him is why he lies down in the dunes at night and watches the stars to remember—to remember and think of the good things in the world.
"For every bad deed in the world," he tells the night sky and curls his fingers in the sand, "there is good too."
There are mothers who protect their children the best they can, and hugs that smell like Taif roses. There are fathers who stretch the limits of their bodies to protect their home cities, and fabrics that stop bullets. There are cousins who have fire in their spirits even when they are unfavored, and blades that sing when they meet. There are animals in caves who kiss the little fingers of a boy who did unspeakable things, and stars that are magnificent. And there is a day that will come when Damian won't have to look to find the good in the world.
"For every bad deed in the world, there is good too," he whispers.
Tears fall from the corners of his eyes, down his ears, into the sand.
"For every bad deed in the world, there is good too."

Fluffbruary 23: Scrap
This is late because oops! a plot happened! It's a lot of fun though :)
Find all of my @fluffbruary ficlets on AO3 here!
Fandom: The Sandman (2022)
Relationship: Dream of the Endless/Hob Gadling
Hob isn’t home, Dream realizes as he appears in the dark flat. Papers are strewn everywhere. Dream looks to the calendar nailed to the wall to orient himself to what Hob’s up to.
The entire week is labelled “MIDTERMS” in thick black marker. That explains the paper. He walks over to the coffee table, piled high with exams and essays. Dream fingers the stapled pages, catching bits of panicked midnight typing and occasionally salient analysis. As he’s flipping through, a scrap of paper flutters onto the floor.
It’s a torn bit of a legal pad, clearly scribbled out while Hob was supposed to be taking notes in a meeting. The writing is messy, but still intelligible once Dream looks closer.
It reads:
To-do
order rose delivery—100 RED!
horse and carriage to inn 7:30
practise speech
pick up ring—lunch
His hands shake as the paper threatens to fly from his hands. He manages to tuck the slip back inside the stack of essays and sits down. Dream is at once elated and anxious. Has he ruined the surprise?
In hindsight, it seems pretty obvious what was to happen tonight. Hob had asked him to be early and to wear something special. He’d even hinted at Dream getting a manicure! Dream puts his head in his hands, still shaking. His lips threaten to break out in a full grin, and he lets them, for once.
Then, he hears the unmistakable combination of humming and jingling keys, someone who is entirely too peppy after a full workday. Hob bursts through the door, flicking on the lights and illuminating a Dream who is bordering on giggling.
“Oh! You’re here already. Good to see you, love.” Hob shucks off his shoes near the door and hangs his messenger bag on the hook. Then, he crosses to the couch to give Dream a peck on the forehead.
“Hello, Hob,” Dream attempts to straighten his face.
“What’s got you all smiley, sweet Dream?”
“I am.” He schools his face, though his excitement still glimmers in his eyes. “Merely excited for our outing tonight."
Hob comes around the couch to grab Dream’s hands and pull him up.
“You are so gorgeous tonight, dove.” He fingers the silk cuff at Dream’s wrist.
Dream’s wearing a black silk shirt, loose and billowy in the sleeves but tight around the waist. The laces at the chest are loose, exposing his pale skin from the base of his sternum up to the hollow at the bottom of his throat. Hob drops Dream’s hands to hold him. His hands slip lower to rest in the back pockets of Dream’s tight leather pants, giving his arse a brief squeeze.
“So beautiful for me. Just hang on a sec and I’ll get changed. Then we can leave.” Hob presses a kiss to Dream’s lips as he drops his arms. He walks into the bedroom and shuts the door. A little suspicious, since Hob never had any shame about getting changed in front of him before. The door was shut before he went in there, too. Dream wonders what Hob is hiding.
When Hob emerges, Dream’s jaw drops. He’s wearing a fantastically tailored tuxedo that accentuates his broad shoulders and narrow waist. A red rose boutonnière completes the ensemble; Hob is glorious in Dream’s preferred colors.
But more shocking than his boyfriend’s appearance is the truly absurd number of roses in his arms. Hob smiles as he approaches, taking pleasure in Dream’s reaction. Although Dream understood what 100 roses meant in concept, seeing them here in the Waking, in Hob’s hands was overwhelming. He steps closer to Hob, reaching out to accept the gift as tears glimmer in his eyes.
“My beloved, whatever is the occasion for a gift such as this?” Dream asks, trying to keep his tears from spilling over.
Hob grins even wider, his excitement starting to show.
“It’s a secret,” he sings, leaning in to kiss Dream again.
“You and your secrets.”
Dream sniffs the roses, taking in their sweet and heady scent, then reaches into the dream of an award-winning florist for a vase wide enough to hold the vast number of stems. He fills it with water and looks around, searching for an empty space to set it down. Every surface is still covered in students’ assignments. Hob wraps his arms around the vase, which Dream releases from his grasp.
“I’ve got a special place for these, love. Be right back.” He pops into the bedroom and quickly returns with a plastic case containing a matching boutonnière.
Setting the case on the table, he grabs the flower and pin. Then he moves into Dream’s space to pin it on the fine silk near the collar. Dream holds very still, enjoying the attention his partner is showering upon him tonight. He’s almost forgotten the secret information he wasn’t supposed to know.
“With that,” Hob steps back, checking his watch, “it’s time for us to be on our way. And we’re going the slow way. I insist.”
He takes Dream’s hand, leading him down the stairs and heading through the door that will take them through the New Inn. He preens at the knowledge that Hob wants to show him off tonight. As they cross the threshold, he hears several patrons gasp.
“What’s the occasion you lot are all dressed up for, Rob?” The bartender, Ted, asks.
Hob leans on the bar top, still holding Dream’s hand.
“That, my friend, is a secret,” he juts a thumb at Dream. “Surprise for that one.”
“Right, then,” Ted grins conspiratorially. “Enjoy your night, Rob, Murph,”
Hob leads him out the door and parked in front of the inn is a horse and carriage. A white horse. Dream feels the tears well up in his eyes, knowing Hob absolutely made sure of the color of the horse on purpose.
The driver opens the door as they close in, and Hob gives him a hand as he climbs inside. Hob follows him in, presses against him from shoulder to knee, and wraps an arm around him.
“Hi,” he says, grinning at him.
“Hello again, my love.”
The carriage starts to move, the clip-clopping of the horse’s hooves a familiar sound, steady and natural unlike the cars, trains, and buses Hob often tried to take him on. They do not talk during the carriage ride, comfortable silence taking over as Dream enjoys the warmth of Hob’s body. He rests his head on his shoulder, which Hob takes as an opportunity to kiss the top of his head an excessive number of times.
After some time, the carriage slows to a stop and the driver comes around to open the door. Hob climbs out first, offering his hand again to help Dream down the stairs though he knows he doesn’t need it.
As he steps out into the night, he realizes they’re in front of the White Horse. Gone are the chain-link fence and graffitied signs, and in their place… The building is restored, lit by candles as it had for most of its life. Dream turns to Hob and finally lets his tears loose. Hob pulls him into his arms as Dream sobs, rocking back and forth and rubbing his back soothingly. As his crying slows, he pulls his head away from the wet spot on Hob’s shoulder to look in his eyes.
“Hob… how?”
Hob smiles, the warmth in his eyes overtaking Dream. If he weren’t already completely lost for this man, he would be.
“Well, got more leverage now with the history department, met a few historical reenactors with more money than sense, some more magical beings owed me a couple favors… et voilà.” Hob briefly lets go of Dream to throw out jazz hands in celebration.
“You have restored it. To its former glory.”
“All for you, duck. For us.” He presses a hand to Dream’s cheek, wiping away the few remaining tears. “Now, my darling, shall we?”
Dream nods, sniffling one last time.
Hob leads them” to the door. When they enter, the inn looks as it always did. Warm candlelight fills the room, rustic wood refinished and rotting planks replaced. At the center of the room is a table with an elegant candelabrum and another bouquet of red roses arranged in a crystal vase. Hob pulls out a chair for Dream, then seats himself opposite him.
“Well?”
“It is most wonderful that you have done this, Hob.”
Hob smiles.
“Well, since I didn’t get to have our last meeting here, I wanted to make up for some lost time.” He fiddles with something in his jacket pocket that Dream pretends not to notice.
“So, I thought I’d tell you about the 21st century so far! It’s been lovely. I’m a history professor, teach medieval history, try to dig up sources for what I know happened then. And I own a pub! Bought it after the White Horse shut down. It’s a nice place to go for a pint.” He shoves his hand in his pocket again.
“They’ve got a word for people like me now, too: bisexual! Somebody who likes all sorts of people, men, and women, and all the people who don’t fit in those boxes. Pretty cool, that. It’s legal now, anybody can marry anybody! Been going to pride parades, mentoring my queer students, making sure everybody knows ol’ Robbie is there for them.” He scratches the back of his neck, the sweat beading there giving away his anxiety.
“Erm, yeah, so I’ve got a boyfriend now. He’s really great. Breathtakingly gorgeous. Endlessly creative. We sure took a long time getting together, several lifetimes it feels like. But he’s my oldest and best friend, he is the most ridiculously romantic person I have ever met, and,” Hob is out of his chair and walking over to Dream’s side of the table. He’s pulled whatever could possibly be in that pocket out and he’s down on one knee beside Dream’s chair.
“And I’d love to spend the rest of eternity with him,” his voice wobbles a bit. “Dream of the Endless, most impossible creature and love of my life, will you marry me?”
Dream doesn’t even realize he’s stood up from his seat as he smiles down at Hob.
“It would be my honor to accept your hand in marriage, Robert Gadling.”
Hob slips the ring onto his finger, which he reshapes to make a perfect fit. No need for resizing when you can resize your own body parts. Dream laces his fingers together with Hob’s and pulls him to stand. As soon as he is up, their mouths lock onto each other, magnetically charged as if that’s where they’re always meant to be. The wet heat of Hob’s mouth is doubly intoxicating when Dream realizes that he’s kissing his fiancé. He delves his tongue into his mouth, tracing over smooth, warm flesh, the ribbed texture of the roof of his mouth, his perfect, beautiful teeth. Hob moans in response, pulling him closer and running his hands down Dream’s sides. He has no clue how long they kiss for until Hob has to pull back to catch his breath. Ugh, human lungs.
“So, did I surprise you?” Hob pants.
“My fiancé,” Dream is going to milk that title for all it is worth, “I must confess something to you.”
“Go on,” he says, furrowing his brow.
“I would be remiss not to tell you I became aware of tonight’s events prior to your arrival in your home. Your list fell out of a stack of essays I had been investigating. My greatest apologies, Hob.”
He studies Hob’s face, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“Oh, is that it?” He grins. “I was expecting you to say something way worse! Most people figure out they’re gonna get engaged before they actually go on the date, silly creature.” Hob brings Dream’s hand up to his mouth and presses a kiss to the ruby set on the black gold band. “I really don’t care that you found the list, love. I know how nosy you are.”
Dream huffs at the comment.
“However, I have greatly enjoyed the night you have planned for us, beloved.”
“I’m so glad, duck. Now, would you like to continue the night? Our carriage awaits to take us back home, where I am going to make love to my fiancé.”
Dream shivers as Hob uses his new title.
“Lead the way.”
Hob takes him back outside where the horse and carriage are parked. He grins at the driver, who has a knowing twinkle in his eye. The pair climb inside and manage to wait until the door is closed to get their hands on each other again. Hob slides close, turning to kiss Dream again but instead finds himself with a lap full of Dream, hunched over in order to not bump his head on the ceiling.
“Hello, fiancé.”
Dream growls.
“Oh, you like that one don’t you,” he smirks, leaning in to whisper in Dream’s ear, hot breath tantalizing against his skin. “Fiancé.”
Dream grab’s Hob’s head, pulling him away from his ear and towards his lips.
“Yes. Now put your mouth to better uses than this merciless teasing.”
Hob doesn’t need to be told twice, pressing his open lips to Dream’s, biting at his lower lip and licking it afterward. His hands move to grip Dream’s arse, steadying him against the rickety motion of the carriage. Dream’s hands grip his hair, tugging as he beckons Hob to kiss him deeper. He makes a tiny whimper as Hob’s tongue flicks against the tip of his own. All of his senses are filled with Hob; the Dreaming and the infinity of all that he is seem lightyears away when they are together like this. They press together, like even one atom’s worth of space apart will kill them. Hob’s chest rises and falls against Dream’s torso, providing a rhythm for their lips to match. Their intensities are equally matched in pressure and frequency, and neither can handle how perfect the moment is.
Until they feel the carriage come to a stop. Dream rolls off of Hob into his own seat, managing to look perfectly composed with a wave of a hand. Hob, on the other hand, looks wrecked. His hair is tangled, sticking every which way, the boutonnière has been completely obliterated, and his bowtie is hanging limply about his neck. He glares at Dream.
“A little help, dearest?”
“But you look so enticing this way.”
Despite his protests, Dream restores Hob’s appearance as well. Though surely the driver knew what was happening during the ride based on his smirk as he opened the door. Dream crawls out first and takes Hob’s hand, eager to get inside his flat. Hob barely has time to shout a thank you before Dream is dragging him towards the front door of the New Inn.
The entire room cheers as they walk through the door. Hob grins, glancing at Dream’s smug face.
“Let’s see the ring!” Marie, a regular, squeals.
Dream twists his left hand loose from its connection to Hob’s hand, holding it out like a king expecting it to be kissed. Marie grabs his hand and brings it up to eye level. Dream bristles at the unexpected touch.
“Hey Marie, I know you don’t mean anything by it, but he really doesn’t like people he doesn’t know very well to touch him.”
She drops her hand immediately, but Dream keeps it at her eye level, shooting Hob a grateful glance.
“So sorry! It sure is beautiful though. Congratulations, you two!”
Hob smiles politely. “Thank you. Now,” he slips his hand back into Dream’s, “this one is tuckered out from all the excitement. We’ve got to get to bed.”
Marie nods, making no comment on the half-truth. Hob weaves through the crowd, pulling Dream behind him and through the private door up to the flat. He pulls the keys out of his pocket one-handed, fumbling to pick the correct one out without letting go of his fiancé. He manages to get the door unlocked and hip-checks it open.
“Shall we, fiancé?” he asks, knowing Dream is on the edge of whisking them into the bedroom with their sand. Such an impatient man-shaped thing sometimes.
“Move, my fiancé, or I will make us move.”
Dream looks at him like he’s about to pounce. About to devour him. And Hob couldn’t be more excited.

Which of your fic titles is your favorite?
generally my fic titles fall into two categories - ones i thought of before i finished the first chapter, and ones i came up with because the first chapter was done and i wanted to post it. as you can imagine, category one is generally better. so any of the ones that i havent posted yet but already have titles - the running iron, until we wake, the infernal children - are ones im proud of. and in what ive already posted, i like tricks of the light, blood in the birdbath, from the back of a blood red mare, heritance of an occultist, smoke and feathers. i dont think i could pick a favourite so instead im just going to say stuff about some of em
the running iron - so a running iron is basically a freehand branding tool. i think at one point they were banned in texas because cattle rustlers used them to alter brands. in the lore of this centaur western thing, its pretty much a tattoo machine. a symbol of self-determination/identification, as well as being something that turns up in the story
tricks of the light - it just encapsulates the conflicts of the fic. 'are nimonas eyes reflective or was it just a trick of the light' is the centre of it, and the implications all unfurl from there.
from the back of a blood red mare - ok i will admit this was inspired by a line in spirit stallion of the cimarron. he says in narration at one point (i think at the start) that the history of the west was written from the saddle of a horse. well this fic comes from the back of a blood red mare. i was kinda hesitant about using 'mare' since its inherrently gendered and that doesnt particularly gel with how i write nimona, but when it comes down to it it just has a better ring to it than blood red horse.
Pick three of your fics and share a song to go with each
im doing More because if theres one thing im good at its finding one or two songs to associate with a fic, thinking 'damn i should make a playlist for this', and then never finding any more songs. lets go through that spotify folder baybe!!
Bugebroph
Tally Hall - Turn the Lights Off
Blood/The Book in the Birdbath
Regina Spektor - One More Time With Feeling
Adventure Time, Olivia Olson - Everything Stays
The Infernal Children
Poor Man's Poison - C'mon Down
Harrison Ash - Ain't No Rest for the Wicked
Billy Idol - Bitter Taste
Poor Man's Poison - Wayfaring Stranger
Netherborne
Hozier - Work Song (specifically about charles and emily)
Poor Man's Poison - Providence
AURORA - Runaway
Steven Universe - Disobedient
Firstborn
Blood Brothers - Shoes Upon The Table
My Chemical Romance - Welcome to the Black Parade (that ones diegetic!)
Oasis - Wonderwall (also diegetic!)
The Paranormal Investigative Society of Dormitory Four
(songs I imagine them playing during band practice)
Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag
My Chemical Romance - Teenagers (popped up while i was looking for teenage dirtbag and i thought yeah, that works too)
Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Goin Down
In Case of Emergency, Break Glass
Poor Man's Poison - Hell's Comin' with Me (i came up with a good chunk of the plot while listening to this song and as a result the lyrics are a loose metaphor for the story)
From the Back of a Blood Red Mare
(all of my cowboy-y song associations go to blood red because running irons plot and dynamics are kinda bare bones. sorry centaur enjoyers.)
Wicked Shallows - Devils Point
The Dead South - In Hell I'll Be in Good Company (if this was more platonic itd be a near perfect fit)
Tejon Street Corner Thieves - Whiskey
Brown Bird - Blood of Angels (this is also just a general nimona song to me)
Rainbow Kitten Surprise - It's Called Freefall (not certain about this one because its a bit too modern but it vibes too well to exclude it entirely)
#posts that make me want to work on infernal children again#i want to find more songs for dorm 4 but for some reason i am very afraid of getting fictional characters music tastes wrong#if anyone wants to suggest what those kids are up to in that music room go for it#ALSO if anyone wants insight into these music choices please ask me. please. pspspsp ask me about the teeny playlists#i would just explain them all here but this post already took so long#bugebroph#infernal children au#netherborne au#firstborn au#haunted school au#ghost jars au#nimona cowboy au

A Helping Hand - Chapter 1
Series Masterlist Summary - As a woman who is pregnant you are doing anything if it means survival. Even so you found yourself in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was it the other way around? Now you are in the community of Jackson and you can’t help but attract a certain pair of hazel eyes.
You are in a small pharmacy hoping to find some form of antibiotic as well as maybe some prenatal vitamins seeing as you are pregnant. While on the run you stepped on a nail that went right through the sole of your shoe and into the bottom of your foot. You had to cut off that shoe in order to get it to the nail and pull it out. You are at the check out area where you would have crawled through if it wasn't for the metal gate blocking your way. You look around the small store in an effort to find something to get it open with. You look to your right next to the counter to see a metal box with a fire extinguisher inside. You walk over standing sideways to it and lift your elbow. You inhale deeply before exhaling as your elbow comes in contact with the glass shattering it. You hiss as some of the glass gets imbedded in your elbow. You yank the fire extinguisher out the weight of it causing you to bend down uncomfortably. You heave it up on your dominant shoulder walking over to the lock again. You slam it down on the lock again and again until it breaks. You let out a cry of victory. You go to open it when you hear people so you dive behind the shelves.
"I heard banging from in here!" You here a feminine voice say as the ring from the top of the door sounds as they walk in. "It look's like someone got in here..." A males voice says as their footsteps approach the counter. You quietly take out your Swiss Army Knife clutching it with the blade facing down. As they begin to lift the gate you jump out "It's Mine!" you cry. You almost hit your target it being the girl when the man pushes you to the ground the both of them aiming their gun at you. You fall on your back and cry out. With the mixture of the weight you are carrying in the front as well as the cans that dig into you from your backpack, you feel sharp pains all over your body. Tears collect and fall from your eyes as you look up at them.
"Jesus Jesse! She's pregnant!" The woman that now you can see has an olive skin tone and black hair that is pulled in a bun. She puts her gun away and kneels beside you. "How was I suppose to know! She could have killed you!" The man known as Jesse says before joining her on the opposite side. "She is surviving for two it is to be expected..." The girl grumbles. "Ma'am? Ma'am can you hear me?" She asks and you nod and answer with a whine before saying. "P-Please all I need are some antibiotics and vitamins and I'll go!" The girl moves her arm toward you and you flinch. "Hey we aren't going to hurt you okay?" She turns to Jesse and says. "Help me sit her up." They each put an arm under your armpit and lift you into a sitting position. "What do you need the antibiotics for?" Jesse questions and the girl snaps at him. "Jesse! Now isn't the time!" But you decide to answer anyway by pointing to your foot and saying. "I stepped on a nail." Jesse looks at you before kneeling down near your feet to see bandages. "Can I take them off?" He asks and you nod. When he does he makes a face of disgust. Your foot injury is definitely infected with puss and blood slowly leaking out of it.
"We need to get her back home." The girl says. "Dina I don't know what if-" "What if nothing! She is pregnant and hurt what could she possibly do?" She says and Jesse grumbles before leaning down and picking you up bridal style. "I'm sorry! Just leave me be and I will leave I promise!" You say fearing the worst as they take out out of the pharmacy. "Put her on my horse." The girl Dina says. Jesse shakes his head. "No not after what she tried to do, speaking of which..." He set you down and you stumble on to one of the horses grabbing it's saddle . He rips open your backpack. " See I knew she had something else!" He says taking out your gun before handing it to Dina. "Hold on to it. You up and at 'em." He says helping you up on his horse before sitting in front of you. As the horse begins to trot out of the small town and into the surrounding forest you find yourself holding on to him until you finally make it to a big gate.
"Dina you go get Maria and Tommy. I'm taking her to the infirmary." He says before trotting in that direction. When he gets there he helps you down and takes you inside. "Hey Kathrine i need some help over here." He says setting you on a bed. The woman comes over "My goodness she looks awful." She says You find yourself in an almost curled position mainly protecting your stomach. "Ma'am?" She asks kneeling in front of you. "Where are you hurt?" You barely make eye contact keeping your head down. "He foot is infected but I think we should check her for bites before we waste our supplies." Jesse grumbles "I'm not bit!" You cry looking at him. "Jesse thank you for bringing her here but I think you should leave." She says and Jesse goes to argue but she closes the curtain that surrounds the bed. "Ma'am I know your scared but he is right. So could you please remove your clothes so I can check?" You look at her like you are a deer in headlights. "We want to help you..." She says calmly and you nod before slowly taking off your clothes.
There are a murmur of voices as you finish putting on your clothes and you hear a new voice. "Kathrine?" It is a female voice. "Come in." Kathrine says and a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes wearing a greenish jacket comes in through the curtain. As she walks in you look behind here and catch a glimpse of another man standing on the other side. This woman looks nice yet has a stern look on her face when she approaches you both. "Have you looked her over?" The woman asks and Kathrine nods. "She has no bites but she is pregnant and has an injury on her foot that is infected and will need to be treated." the woman nods. "I'd like to talk to her." Kathrine nods and exits the room. The blonde woman grabs a chair and sits in front of you. "What is your name?" She asks and you look down at your hands in your lap. "My name is (Y/N)." You say quietly. "I don't appreciate what you tried to do (Y/N)." She says keeping a firm look on her face. "But I can see why you did it." You look up at her. "I assume you have been through a lot?" She asks and you nod. "How far along are you?" She asks her head gesturing to your stomach. "I think I'm maybe four or five months along?" You say sounding unsure. "Do you have anyone who could be looking for you right now?" She asks and you shake your head. "No... They're all dead." You say solemnly. She nods. "How old are you?" She asks "I am thirty-one or thirty-two I think? My watch broke a while back so all the days seem to blend together." She looks you up and down. "I will be right back." She says and walks past the curtain and you can here people on the other side whispering.
The woman comes back into the room and sits back down. "We decided that we are going to let you stay..." The woman begins. "No I-" You get cut off by her. "You are going to stay in the infirmary until your foot is healed. That should give us enough time to find you a place to stay." She says coolly. "I understand that you are scared but we are a great community here. We want to help you." You nod slowly. "Thank you miss..?" "My name is Maria. I am the leader of this town." You nod "It is nice to meet you Maria. Tell the two people who I arrived with 'Thank you' for not blowing my head off." She nods and stands up. "I will be sure to get you some clothes soon. When we get you those you can have a shower okay?" She asks and you nod. "Yes Ma'am. Thank you."

You looked around the road eyes wide ,watching the passers by. The peaky blinders were everywhere... this was always a risk, not to mention you wasn't entirely sure where each of your brothers were. Or aunt Polly you only knew that Ava was off with her lover Fred. And you were doing much of the same... Well not Fred but Henry, your own lover. You'd met him when welcoming Tommy home from the war... He was hard to miss tall- taller then Tommy even! and injured he was searching the crowded dock but... It was clear to see that noone was there to greet him off the boat. He looked distraught and shattered. You were a bleeding heart and had approached him as your family had a small get together, you'd given him a hug pressed a sweet kiss to his cheek and welcomed him home giving him one of the flowers in the bouquet you'd brought for tommy. He had appreciated it, more then you'd ever know.
What you hadn't known was that he was moving into a home a few streets away. A few weeks later you saw him and he thanked you politely, you couldn't help think how very handsome he was, perfect blue eyes but for a speck of brown in his right eye, sharp regal features and pale alabaster skin now free from the bruising of his injury. He hadn't been as broad or muscular back then, but had been tall and lean.
Over the next few months chance meetings became dates, dates became full days basking in one another's presence until finally after a few months you'd fallen for the amazing gentle giant. It had been hard falling so hopelessly in love with Henry and having to hide from brothers and gangsters alike. But somehow you'd both made it with minimal near misses. Three years. Three years you'd been having this secret romance with him. But now you wanted more, as selfish as it was you wanted to be free to love him in public. Without worrying who may have seen you or if Aunt Polly will tell Thomas.
Yes she knew alright. There are no secrets from Aunt Polly. She said you done well and had even spoke with Henry a few times, she liked him. He wasn't in the business but could protect you, his shear size would be enough of a deterrent to others. And honestly she thought Tommy would get along with him, henry was clever and had an imposing frame. If Tommy had the chance, you knew Henry would be pulled into the fold, you were just unsure if that's what you both wanted.
Henry hadn't had much luck with work at first when he was here, so he became a boxer for a time learning to fight and defend himself and bulked up. It was terrifying to watch him be so ferocious in the ring and you thanked god each day Henry had avoided gaining a crooked nose. A few times you'd run into Tommy at the fights, your brother had singled you out and had you brought to him to stand and watch. But you were pleased to find out that your brother always placed his money on your man... So that was a good sign wasn't it?
Henry knew you didn't like his fighting but continued, he wanted to offer you everything. A home with kids and garden a cute little dog and the best clothes and food money could buy. So he saved everything! Kept all his winnings and in just over a year he had a nice sum of money in bets from his winnings and managed to earn enough for a small house. Since then he had a job doing the heavy lifting in a local Steel works.
Everything was set! Henry had a home for you, which you had a hand in help decorate. He promised a long and happy future with you! There was just the small problem of your family. They were... Protective to say the least, not only were you a Shelby sister but younger then Ava.
You quickly left the street today you were meeting Henry by the docks where Tommy kept the horse he'd just got. It was close... but not too close, it was worth the risk to be able to see Henry. Today was the day. You both decided! Henry will talk to them, introduce himself to your brothers this afternoon at the pub before they could drink too much.
You rounded the barn casting one final glance over your shoulder out of habit and slipped into the stalls. You could see him already, his flat cap and dark blue suit. Oh god he had dressed up for it, shit tommy would laugh him out of the bar. You chewed your lip and quivered you were anxious, this could be make or break. If Tommy was against it there was no way you could sneak about and keep your relationship going. They would chase henry out of Birmingham. Or kill him.
You stepped around the horse and giggled watching as henry gave himself a little pep talk twisting his signet ring on his pinkie with shaky hands. He was terrified and so were you. He paused and spun around to face you when he heard the small clicks of your heels on the concrete floor.
"W-what do you think?" he said spinning around holding his hands out letting you get a look at him. You stepped closer to him trying to settle your rapid heart. He was immaculate, stunning and handsome, sculpted by the gods... But looked too pretty. And god knows a Shelby girl wont be allowed to date a pretty boy. You smiled at him stopping inches away from him and walked your fingers over his chest slowly unbuttoning his suit jacket.
"You are magnificent... But a little too refined." you hummed motioning for him to shrug out of the loose suit jacket. He hissed out a shaky breath as you took the jacket from him and tucked it over your arm. That was better, the vest and white shirt showed his frame perfectly, and it also showed the slight strain on the buttons of his shirt. Hinting at the powerful man hidden beneath. You wanted them to see he was a strong man and it wasn't all the cut of the suit. You needed them to see you'd chosen a strong man capable of protecting you.
"There perfect" you said stepping back straightening his tie a little and stood back eyeing him carefully. There really was nothing more you could do. He would have to prove himself in what ever test your brother would conjure on the spot. By god you hope he impressed them.
"Yes you are" he quipped quickly eyes locking on to you making you blush and look away tip toeing around the horse in the stall that hid the two of you. Henry drew in a deep breath watching you closely. This was it. Today was the day, and he hadn't a clue what he was going to say to the great Shelby men. He cursed under his breath turning from you for a second. You understood, this wasn't just your future you were risking today, it was his life. Not many impress Tommy and far less managed to get in his good books when they were trying it on with the baby sister.
"You know that you have to just... Go in there and say 'I'm dating your sister' Right? Be firm and tell them like it is! Stand up to them! They would respect that" You cooed grinning at him from across the barn watching as your love eyed you from the other side of the magnificent white horse Tommy had recently got.
"What and have John blind me with his blades?" He scoffed at you before rounding the horse ducking under the stallions huge head and leant forward trapping you with huge hands resting either side of the horse stall you were leaning on.
"Ugh Johnny boy couldn't even reach your eyes Henry... Its just Tommy and Arthur you need to watch..." you rolled your eyes at him trying to act normal and ignore the black cloud hanging over your head. If this was the last time you were to be alone with him you wanted him to remember you as you are, not the nervous terrified woman you were at this moment. You smirked rising on your tip toes and teased his lips with your breath making him groan silently, the deep contracting of his wide barrelled chest the only give away to the effect you had on him.
You pulled back just as he dipped down to meet your lips and giggled at him as he wound his large arms around you hoisting you up by your waist and sat you on the wooden fence on the box stall bringing you eye level with him. You giggled folding your arms in your lap with his jacket knowing he wouldn't let you fall, he never did.
"Ah just Tommy and Arthur... That is cruel, I'm shaking in my shoes love" he teased wetting his lips with the luxurious pink tongue you knew all too well.
"Aww my poor bear, so frightened of my brothers I know, perhaps this will help you find that courage of yours~" you cooed before pressing forward kissing him on the lips. His lips drew up into a beaming grin and he stepped closer forcing your legs to part and dress to rise up to your knees as he devoured you in a heated yet forbidden kiss.
"Well then lets go shall we?" He grumbled eyes alight with a new want, a deep desire he had never shown before. It was thrilling and awe inspiring. Like he had a new lust, a lust for life and not just what was hidden beneath your skirts.
"Oh love like you said Tommy and Arthur?! I'm going to need all my strength for this meeting" he laughed as your face held a look of shock and disbelief then a petulant pout when you realised there will be no quick romp in the hay this afternoon. With one final wink he spun around heading for the door.
You stood outside the pub. Your brothers were inside, you could feel it. There was a buzz in the air, the destinct feeling that followed 'the boss' hanging around. You had drawn a little attention walking the streets With henry at your side. People watched as the young Shelby woman walked arm in arm with an undisclosed male carrying his jacket no less. It made you cringe hearing the murmurs of 'should we tell the boss' 'does tommy know?' 'should we help her?' but luckily none made any moves towards you as you moved deeper and deeper into the heath. Towards the pub. You slowed as you neared the final destination and henry pulled out his cigarette tin fishing out the small stick deciding to have a quick smoke before entering the proverbial lions den.
"It will be okay... He will... Test you, but remember family is everything and I'm his youngest sister so..." you trailed off, the truth was you didn't know what Tommy would do or say. He was unpredictable and cunning, he liked to test people. You just hoped Henry passed with flying colours... or the only thing flying will be... you closed your eyes trying not to think of what would happen if things went sour. Henry could die, literally die today for loving you. It curdled your stomach you cant loose him. You hoped Tommy would see that.
"I know that... Here twos?" he said offering you the small cigarette he had been dragging on quickly nervously trying to pull some more courage from the small stick. Because once he was inside he couldn't show any weakness. It was daunting unable to show weakness when the love of his life was on the line. Henry was under no illusions Tommy could and would kill him, and there would be little Henry could do.
"Just remember y/n no matter what I love you. I will always love you" henry said as you toom a few drags on the cigarette. You whined and nodded breathing out the smoke trying to exhale all the tension and anxiety with the fumes.
"I love you too Henry, so much more then I thought I could ever love anyone" without a thought Henry pulled you to him and pressed a kiss to your lips. He didn't give a damn he was kissing the forbidden princess right outside her king brothers castle, or that the others around them would see. Be needed this one final pick me up before faceing the firing squad.
You smiled pulling back handing Henry the remainder of the cigarette and nodded to him. You got this. Then entered the pub walking right into the private room where your family sat. Instantly Polly looked at you frowning seeing you were pale, worried. Then her eyes flicked to your hands still folded with Henry's jacket draped over them. She drew a deep breath and sat straighter looking at the three males wearily. Oh god.
"Tommy I need to talk to you" you said seriously. But the blue eyed man rolled his eyes flicking the ash off his cigarette into the crystal ashtray before speaking dismissively trying to wave you off.
"Your not having that cat its final" john and Arthur chuckled at the automatic response Tommy gave but you frowned. You wasn't to sure what to say next, you didn't want to agitate him but you needed him to listen.
"No its not that- I have something to tell you and its important" you said drawing the attention of John and Arthur, but tommy heaved a sigh and moved stubbing out the lit cigarette and flicked his eyes to you letting you know he was listening.
"Mr Shelby could we talk?" You looked up seeing Henry standing there, tall and wide. Firm and unafraid confidently eyeing your brothers in a way oud never seen before. People cowered. Henry wasn't there was no hint of the anxious man outside. Henry was on a mission.
"Not now can't you see I'm speaking with my sister?" He grunted his voice was even. But to others could be seen as irritated. You turned as Henry didn't so much as flinch, you thought he'd run off but Henry let himself into the room standing closely behind you, one hand moving to his head removing his flat cap revealing the neat styled hair. The usually fluffy curls pulled into a slick style that accentuated his angular features. You nodded to him with a smile pleading him to carry on. What you didn't expect was for henrys huge arm to wrap around your waist in front of your sibling's. Fuck. You felt the shift in the room, anger and shock radiating from the men but an overwhelming curiosity. They wanted to watch this, it was rare someone was so god damned stupid as to put hands on you.
"She is the reason I'm here Mr Shelby" Henrys voice carried over the small space in a low determined tone. You tucked yourself into him, pivoting and twisting a hand to his tummy resting there, fingers twisting the button on his vest. You just needed to feel him, you felt like you were shielding him, but it was also self soothing. You needed to reassure yourself he was here for you. No one else. You.
"Oh? And why is that then?" Tommy shifted leaning back eyeing the man who was being so familiar with his baby sister. Tommy was no fool, you hand flinched or pulled away, this male had been around you enough that you were used to him touching you. You gravitated towards him like... like a lover? Tommy's blue eyes bit into the man. As unsettling as it was seeing his sister so close to another man Tommy couldn't help feeling a little relief, a small spark of joy. If this was your beau you'd done well. Tall, muscular wide and imposing. Not many would pick a fight with him, even drunk people would steer clear of him.
"She invited me" Tommy smirked hearing the man speak, he was confident. Unafraid that boded well too. He wasn't a fucking coward... or atleast he was pretending not to be.
"This is what I wanted to talk to you all about...Tommy, Arthur, John... This is Henry... My?" You hesitated and looked between henry and our family. You just froze, clammed up at the calculating look on Tommy's face. It was frightening being scrutinised by him.
"Lover sweetheart we agreed no more secrets" Henry finally broke the silence tipping his face down to yours with a smile. Ignoring your family in favour of snapping you back to reality.
"Oh no you fuckin' aint sonny boy- y/n you get your ass over here now!" Arthur broke the silence with a rough voice shouting, ordering you to round the table and sit next to him. You grit your teeth and shoo, your head at Arthur watching as he turned red in anger. You wasn't like Ava, you never caused trouble or made trouble for your brothers, heel you were a 'goody two shoes' always doing as you were told. But this time you refused to do as you were asked and stayed put.
Tommy ever the eagle eye noticed. He had been ready to rip this man to shreds but, your simple act of defiance caught his attention. You wasn't a girl to play silly games, so to blatantly refuse and tell them no and side with this Henry meant you were serious. This was serious. And Tommy was wracking his brain he recognised this man... But from where? He was sure he wasn't a blinder so who was he?
"Now y/n don't make me come and get ya"
"I said no" you snapped at your eldest brother, but your eyes were on Tommy. Henry squeezed your waist as you stared down your most threatening of brothers. Eyes locking with his blue gaze as you held your ground. The smallest of smirks tugged at his lip. You were unsure if it was good or bad but he wasn't scowling so you'd take that as a win.
"Your the one that was boxing...pulverised the others" Tommy said pointing slowly at Henry whilst pulling a crystal glass of whisky towards him, his thumb skimming the rim of the glass in thought. He was thinking, scheming... but then again when was Thomas Shelby not scheming?
"Yes, not that it was personal I needed to win" henry spoke clearly not letting the severe glares f your other brothers shake him. He was impenetrable a solid rock- a mass of a man all firm and sharp angles determined and poised.
"Oh? And why is that then?" Tommy purred still keeping his cards close to his chest, no one knew what he really thought of you and henry or the relationship at that moment. But he was speaking, not shooting. And that was all that mattered.
"I needed the money to buy a house for your sister" Henry said plainly placing his hat on the table in front of him. It was a strange gesture but one you understood. He was making himself comfortable but also using it as a metaphor throwing his hat in the ring so to speak, showing your family he had no intentions on hightailing it out of there and leaving you in the dust.
"You did, did you?" Here was something, a twinkle in the cool blues. You tried to dig deeper but as soon as it was there it had vanished. For a second you dare say your brother was impressed with your choice in man.
"I wasn't coming to you without being able to offer your sister something... I wanted to prove I'm capable of providing her a future" Henry shrugged feeling Tommy with a stare. You shivered hearing the iron will, the absolute control Henry had over himself. John scoffed and leant over the table glaring at Henry dragging on his cigarette then spoke up trying to mimic Tommy's own indifferent threatening demeanour, but failed. There was only one Terrifying Tommy.
" and some tiny house on a backstreet in Birmingham is a future?" john scoffed laughing outloud trying to dampen Henry's resolve. But your man was ready and grinned smugly showing off the perfect teeth and stunning looks.
"Medium actually... not huge but its bigger then what she is used to, with front and back garden bought and paid for... Last week I even got her a kitten... Russian blue expensive but y/n wanted one and I wont deny her" he replied without missing a beat. Henry was proud of what he had achieved, and so he should be. The house he had managed to buy was a nicely sized three bedroom home, and it was indeed larger then where you lived with your family at the moment. Well decorated and furnished with tasteful furniture most of which you picked out together.
"And what you think I'll give my blessing because you got her a bloody cat?" tommy drew the attention back to him. You swallowed dryly. Tommy sounded mad now. You moved shuffling in front of Henry trying to cover him more, yet your hand wandered behind your back and you clasped your lovers hand tightly hoping things wont go from bad to worse.
"No, you don't need to bless anything, I'm not here to ask. I'm telling you that we are together and serious...We've been a couple for almost three years... And its about time I informed you" your breath hitched as Henry's voice resounded in the room. Oh god that was too far! You paled and snapped your head to him on the brink of tears and pressed back into Henry trying to make him pull back, but no. The man was a brick wall- immovable and stubborn... yet cool and unfazed. But what struck you most was the shock on your brothers faces. No one had spoken to any of them like that for a very long time. And for good reason.
"There is a fine line between courage and stupidity Henry" Tommy said recovering from the shock quicker then the others. He didn't even see you now standing on shaking knees trying to shield henry as much as you could with your frame. But it was no use, Henry was to big, you were but a tiny waif of a woman in front of him. But Tommy bore his curious gaze into the huge man. It would appear your love now had his undivided attention.
"I know, but I'm on the right side of it. I love your sister. And I have loved her for three years, since the day I got off the boat" tommy tilted his head to the side surprized once more by your lover. You drew a slow breath in. You knew tommy respected those who fought for their country.
"You served?" came the question as tommy poured himself another glass and then lit up another cigarette. You saw a quick smile light up his face, but again it was gone before anyone could really notice. Henry heaved a deep breath and nodded, he was no fool. He took a chance and it had paid off, or it seemed to have paid off he wasn't staring down the barrel of a gun or had a peaky cap flung at his face.
"Yes, along side you in fact... I was smaller then... Easy to miss. Your sister showed kindness to me when I had no one and nothing. She gave me hope, hope for the possibility of family and a normal life. She managed to ease my terrors and pull me from the memories of the war. And for that I will give her everything" henry spoke, you noticed your brothers each shrunk. They understood, the war left scars on the mind and it was true even henry had suffered, but you were able to sooth him and bring him back from the worst night terrors. Tommy grunted and flicked his gaze from you to your man then back again. There was a warmer hint to the blues, dare you say an acceptance. But even you knew he was still going to pull something out of the bag and throw a curveball at your love. Tommy still needed to test Henry, but atleast you could say so far so good.
"And taken something I assume?" Polly hissed looking away as your brother spoke. You rolled your eyes, did he seriously want to know if you'd fucked? Tommy held Henry captive in his gaze he knew the answer but for some reason he wanted the hear it out loud. You couldn't help this was Tommy's test, he was daring your lover to lie to him. You prayed Henry wasn't that stupid. To your reliefe he proved he wasn't as he replied sincerely.
"I shared something freely given I assure you there was no pressure" the statement wasn't smug, henry didn't make you sound like an achievement, something to conquer. And he made it clear that he hadn't pressed you into anything. It earned him a nod from all three men, you smiled they were coming around to Henry. Thank fuck!
"And you come here and say that to my face? Tell me you've broken in my sister? You certainly have balls" your smile dropped and you shifted on your feet. What just happened? Things were going great, and now they weren't? Luckily Henry was more prepared for this then you and he answered smoothly not fazed by the way things had turned so quickly.
"Yes I'm not going to stand here and lie about our relationship I love her. And I'll not hide it a second more. I will protect her and cherish her she has my upmost respect"
"So you say you respect her? Yet... She's carrying you jacket around like some maid?" tommy tried twisting things pokeing at Henry trying to get a rise out of him. Probably so he had a reason to chase him off. But you wanst having it.
"Tommy, I'm holding it so he cannot run! Stop being an ass" you growled releasing Henry's hand and moved forward seething at your brother who lounged back regarding you carefully.
"That's enough mouth from you y/n you've done enough becoming a fucking little whore when our back is turned?" you paused takeing half a step back as tommy's furious gaze landed on you. You quivered feeling hurt, flushing in anger and embarrassment. Not once had he spoke to you like that, you were always praised by your brother, protected and loved to hear him growl at you so cruely was heart breaking.
"I'd ask you don't speak to her like that-" Henry spoke up growing angry himself with the way Tommy had spoke to you. But henry was ignored as Tommy began to lay into you hissing venomously belittling you in front of your family and lover.
"Tell me sister is this some last mineut attempt to cover up a bastard? If so is it even his? For all we know you could be bed hopping all over the heath" you whined at the assault mouth hanging open trying to form words but it was hard. Your eyes welled with tears. Call you a cry baby but you loved your brothers and tried to do them proud to have one of them be so nasty cut you deep.
"No!- Tommy of course not-"
"So your just becoming the heaths bike then? To think after everything you'd sink so low to ruin yourself- Ava was one thing she's always ran around behind our backs but you? I really expected better then to become a two bit whore" his words were like razors ice picks hitting your chest, he always knew how to slice deep. It came with being a blinder- but you never thought you'd be on the receiving end. You moved back another step bumping into Henry, you wanted to run and hide. For the first time in your life you were scared, you didn't want to feel your brothers fury.
"Do not speak to her like that in my presence ever again" Henry snarled brushing past you hiding your quivering from behind him. He was livid and for a second you thought he was going to swing for your brother.
"She's my sister-" Tommy started looking back at henry who had taken the bait hook line and sinker. But was cut off by henry stepping forward leaning over crowding Tommy thumping the table with more force then necessary. Everything jumped, the glasses ashtray even the bottle leapt from the table. You jerked gasping as the bang echoed in the room.
"I don't give a fuck. You wont ever talk to her that again. She is mine and brother or not you will treat her with respect or you will pay for it!" everything stopped. No one moved. No one breathed. It wasn't everyday someone threatened A Shelby, least of all Tommy. Henry growled at your blue eyed brother. Tommy tilted his head taking him in.
"H-henry?" you whispered moving forward pressing a hand to the small buckle as the back of his vest tugging him back, making him stand at his full Hight just in time as John shot up from his seat ready to lunge.
"Oi! Don't you talk to him like that I'll have your fucking eyes!" he roared jumping up turning on your lover but Tommy stopped him fisting a hand in his jacket and tugging him to sit back down... He was grinning?
"Tommy?" Arthur asked not following, but then again he always was a few steps behind everyone. You frowned blinking back tears and gasped. That bastard! It was a trick! You slumped and wrapped yourself around henry before anyone could realise what happened. Henry curled himself around you frowning confused and you tucked yourself into him.
"Any man who a the balls to defend her against me...Will protect her from anyone..." Tommy spoke and tipped his head to the seat across from him offering Henry a seat at the table. You both sat quickly beside one another Polly moved pouring you both a drink, you looked like you needed it.
"So? So you mean we can be together?" Henry asked trying to keep up with how he'd just gone from having a target on his back to having a seat with the family. Tommy smiled nodding whilst bringing his own drink to his lips sipping the amber liquid then spoke.
"Mmm But you've broken her... You'll repay me for ruining her by making her an honest woman"
"The rings in my pocket" Henry said rubbing your back as you shook next to him, the adrenaline and worry now rushing through you. All these years of anxiety washing away with sweet tears of reliefe. Henry tucked you under his arm and held you close on the bench seat hushing you as you crumbled. You didn't really register what was said instead pressed your self into him hands tugging his clothes trying to calm down.
"Then do it- but you ever turn your fists on her I'll kill you" Tommy threatened holding out his cigarette tin offering one to henry, he took it thanking him then popped it between his lips and lit the white stick. His hand only quivered slightly, the rush of what just happened hitting him.
"It will never happen, I couldn't live with myself if I ever made her feel less then perfect let alone harm her" he said squeezing you tighter to his side.
"Then we have a deal?" tommy smiled, a genuine smile as he spied the two of you. He had no doubt, if henry was willing to go toe to toe with him in his pub, in front of his family- probably the most dangerous thing you could do in the heath. Then henry will take care of you and protect you with his life. Plus Henry made you happy and that was all Tommy could ask for, your safety and happiness. Contrary to what people thought he had no issues with anyone dating his sisters. He just didn't want his girls to have weak simpering husbands to protect them should the worst ever happen... And Henry knew how to shoot a gun from his time in the forces, so when handed a weapon Tommy wont have to worry about having a newbie protecting his baby sister. And Henry will be given a gun to protect you with.
"That we do" Henry grinned shaking Tommy's hand and quickly snagged your own placing a thin gold band on your left ring finger before you could even muster a single sound. You blinked wiping your eyes pawing at the salty droplets and gasped seeing the band on your finger, a small diamond in the centre or the dainty ring.
"W-what your not e-ven gonna ask me Henry?" You stuttered at him hiccupping and sniffling trying not to have a full blown breakdown and cry from both relief and happiness. Henry laughed pressing a cheeky kiss to your cheek making you flush and tuck your head back into his chest trying to hide from the onlookers.
"Now why would I give you the chance to say no? Hmm? I may be a tad slow sometimes but I'm not a complete idiot" he purred finishing with a small chuckle, that the others echoed everyone had calmed down accepting the news. You whined at him and slapped his chest lightly pouting as henry laughed.
"Besides your brother and I made a deal" he added as you pulled back eyeing your new ring with a weak smile managing to control yourself bar a few sniffling gasps and the odd rogue tear.
"Oh s-o I'm b-business?~" you tried to tease him but the words lost their bite as you were still tearful from your crying. You were weepy you couldn't help it, today had been stressful- hell this past week had been stressful!
"Business? No... Your my world love" he cooed not caring in the slightest at how soppy he sounded. He wasn't here to put on a show for your brothers. He was here for you.
"I love you" you said peeking up at him with a shy smile.
"Good to know~" he hummed winking at you taking another drag of the cigarette, but you pouted sticking out your bottom lip like you did each time he teased you.
"Yes, yes I love you too" he caved pressing a chaste kiss to your lips drawing a growl from your eldest brother, but nothing was thrown so you summarized you were safe.
"Congratulations Henry I told you they weren't that bad" Polly spoke up quickly ending your sweet kiss before anything could go south.
"Yes Ms Polly you were right, we should have listened to you" henry admitted rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly
"Wait pol you knew?" tommy growled snapping to his aunt but the older woman rolled her eyes. Honestly you think he'd learn by now. No one pulled the wool over Polly's eyes.
"Who to you think has helped keep her from having a kid for three years Tommy! At least that's one thing I don't have to worry about anymore thank god!" she huffed pretending to be annoyed but you knew she was happy for you. She had been routing for henry, and trying to get you to tell the boys for a long time. You were just scared.
"Polly! Stop it" you squeaked flushing, no one needed to know just what Polly had been helping you with! Least of all your fucking siblings!
"What its true? Now your free to pop them out without any uncomfortable questions from this lot, and i have no doubt it will be soon" she teased with a smirk enjoying tormenting you, she had bit her tongue for too long it was about time she got to poke fun at you. You were such a shy innocent little thing.
"Oh my god stop" you moaned ducking down as everyone chuckled at your expense. Henry then made it worse by ducking down beside you and whispered in your ear.
"...She does have a point love" then nipped at it quickly before turning back to your brothers as your face flamed.
It hadn't been the easiest of days, but in the end all the worry and anxiety had paid off not only had you managed to reveal your relationship to your family with no casualties. But you also became engaged to the man of your dreams. Tommy seemed relived, he was happy for you in his own over protective brotherly way. The freedom that came with todays outcome was worth it and now you and henry were free to start your lives together. Truly start with a marriage kids the whole nine yards! And you'd never been happier.

Happy Drac-O-Ween
chapter 3/31
The weather outside seemed to be stirring up something horrid, clouds swirling in strange formations, a biting wind blowing through the trees, & the sky as almost as black as if the evening had already arrived despite it only being noon. "--Something wicked this way comes!" a young girl proclaimed, throwing her arm up into the air for added dramata. "Oh, please, Valeria!" the girls Mother chastised "You frighten me." she tilted her chin down disapprovingly. "But Mumma, it is near the end of the story." the girl pouted, resting her copy of the book against her thigh, almost defeated in how her Mother seemed to ignore her wishes of performing the story. Fussing with her embroidery in an agitated fashion, Katharina looked up to her daughter with blue eyes "Telling of murder & haunted by ghosts unsettles me. You know as much. Speaking of something wicked lingering around even more so!" she pulled her final stitch for once part of the pattern through. "Come," she patted at the cushion next to her "that is enough for tonight my dear. We can continue the story another night. Perhaps when the wear outside doesn't feel as though it should play a part in your story telling." The young Valeria did as she was told by her Mumma, carefully placing the string back inside her book and setting it aside on the mantle before taking a seat beside her mother, where she began to teach her how to embroider, or at least more smoothly.
Boom, boom, boom, came a thunderous knock at the door. With the combination of wild weather outside, and the thrilling Shakespearian tale shared between them, the women gave a jump at the sudden fright. The sound of shoes approaching & disappearing down the hall could be heard as the women anticipated their servants findings at the door. Only a moment later did their servant re-appear, hands neatly folded behind his back as he announced “A Count Dracula for you, Lady Katharina.” stepping aside & bowing his head respectfully.
Dracula entered into the drawing room, smoothing back his hair which had also been victim to the wild weather outside, before clicking his heels together & bowed deeply to the women. “I’m afraid, I wasn’t sure of your invitation, Count Dracula.” the older woman had her eyebrows furrowed tightly, she wasn’t one for unannounced guests, let alone strange men turning up in her home during storms at irregular hours. “My sincerest apologies, my Lady, my Lady,” Count Dracula slowly raised himself up from his bow though nodded to each of them “Your home was the first I came across for shelter. My driver & I were set upon by a highwayman, my driver was unfortunately killed in the attack but I managed to steal away on the carriage horse before the storm frightened her entirely forcing me to seek safety by foot.” A story that was completely made up, though the humans would never know that. Until perhaps their last moment. Count Dracula smacked on his lips, no doubt tasting the last meal he’d fed upon but to anyone else unaware, it seemed more so that he was uncomfortable arriving on a whim in a random home. “I understand that I am a strange man standing inside your home, and I do not expect you to trust me however I ask only for a bed for the night to shelter from the rain & gather my nerves. If you so wish, I would even rest in your stables.”
The tightly knitted eyebrows of Katharina softened quickly, knowing all too well the terror bestowed upon you at the attack of a highwayman. “Now, there is no need to sleep among animals. Actual or servants.” she closed her eyes & bowed her head. Though, unbeknownst to her, the servant that stood in the doorway flashed a glance & held back his snarl as best as he could. “We have a great many guest bedrooms, my Man, Egon, will show you to a room. I’m afraid we have already partaken in our supper, but I am sure one of the kitchen staff can find you something.”
Count Dracula gave a great smile that showed off his crooked & shark like teeth “That is very kind of you to offer, though I’m afraid I had already eaten before the incident. Perhaps I should ring for a servant-” his voice held a suggestive tone of questioning, arching his head to look at the man by the door with a smile that held an undertone, whose curious grey eyes in return met the Counts dark ones “-should I find myself completely ravenous in the night.”
In parting in with each other, the Duchess looked to her Mamma “How strange is it, that any man be out in such horrid weather tonight? Do you not find it so?”
“No, my darling girl.” Lady Katharina tore her eyes from the now closed door, bewitched by the sudden meeting of the dark haired stranger. She calmed herself with a gentle sigh “All kinds of creatures & humans get caught in a storm. It is to us they seek, the honourable. I believe you may have read far too much of your tale of magic & monster that it has clouded your judgement. I suggest you too retire to bed.” her voice was gentle, almost sleepy. She leaned across & pressed a kiss to her daughters forehead & watched as she disappeared down the hall, he single candle making the walls dim darker the further she went.

Trouvaille Short Story
m!Trouvaille
tw: swearing, mild violence
~
This trip started out very simple. Go into the forest, gather spell ingredients, then get out. Getting dragged underwater by a sticky horse was not part of the plan.
While the others were searching for normal herbs like tarragon, nutmeg, or wormwood, you and Antigone waded knee deep in a wide pond. Morning sunlight streamed through the trees, casting an ethereal glow on the water’s surface.
“Remind me again what you need curly pondweed for?” you call out to her.
The witch doesn’t look up from her task when answering, “They promote growth in spells. And encourage perseverance.”
The plant itself was plentiful. Too plentiful, as she told you earlier that it was an invasive species. But every time you thought you found a good stem, Antigone waved you off, stating that your pick was too dark or too old or too tough.
You straighten up and stretch out your aching back. Tedium aside, the forest was beautiful in the morning. Red dragonflies skimmed the surface, creating ripples that jostled the aquatic flora. The natural song of chirping crickets and croaking frogs sounded throughout the clearing. At the water’s edge, a few meters to your right, you can see a dark figure among the cattails. It’s wide, but short, and moving slightly.
When you get closer, you can make out the creature’s long gray mane and thick black body. There are mossy spots and algae strewn across its body. It looks like it lives near the pond, but something about it seemed out of place in the tranquil forest.
“Um, Antigone?” you try to keep your voice down.
“What?”
“Are there supposed to be ponies in the forest?” You take your eyes off the animal to glance at her over your shoulder.
Her head snaps up and she drops the flat woven basket she’d been holding.
“Shit!”
Before either of you can react, the pony whinnies, rears up, and charges you. You’re too slow to dodge and it rams into you. Instead of sending you flying, you find yourself stuck to its flank as it dives deeper into the pond.
The pond is much deeper than expected and every few feet, the water gets colder and darker. Light brown sediment billows up as the probably-not-actually-a-pony settles into the bottom.
The surprise attack, along with your wildly thumping heart means you’re losing air fast and the creature doesn’t seem like it’ll surface any time soon. Your elbow is fastened tight to the creature’s side. If you can just get to your dagger!
You open your eyes and regret it. The sting of the dirty water only hinders you more. You can’t see anything more than two feet in front of you clearly.
Panic sets in and you thrash and kick, desperately trying to separate from the creature. Its skin’s adhesive surface clings onto you. The harder you thrash, the more you pull at your own skin and clothes.
They say to be completely calm if you’re ever being held underwater, but the proverbial “they” are stupid and clearly have never been drowned before.
Black spots dance across your vision. Your lungs burn and your head starts to ache. Great. The artifact wouldn’t kill you. Nor would vampires or werewolves or any other badass way to die. No, you’re a lucky one. You get to die via drowning, stuck to this thing like gum on the bottom of someone’s shoe.
The pony flinches and so do you. It kicks up sediment in its panic. You get tossed around along with it until you feel a small hand on your shoulder. Sharp claws dig into you as it drags you away from the pony.
You can finally make out Antigone’s silhouette as she pulls you close. She presses her lips to yours. Air fills your lungs. Your vision and headache settle, and the burning sensation in your lungs subsides.
A blast of light breaks through your clenched eyelids. Her mouth is on yours again, breathing life into you. For some reason, though, she doesn’t do anything else. Just sits there and keeps breathing into you whenever your lungs start to burn again.
There’s a heavy splash above you. The cold sediment kicks up again and tiny bubbles pepper your face.
Someone hooks their arms under your armpits and the next thing you know, you’re being dragged up the bank of the pond.
Head spinning, you cough up what feels like gallons of water. In your delirium, you think you hear your name.
“There you are!” a familiar voice cries.
You rub your eyes and look up.
T.V. takes a step towards you, then stops. You want to tell him you’re alright, but Jackie grabs you in a bone-crushing hug.
Her clothes are soaking wet.
“We saw the basket floating in the pond! What the hell happened!?”
You hack more water and algae out of your lungs.
“Water pony,” you wheeze out.
“Huh?”
“Kelpie,” Antigone says through violent coughs. Despite her having been the one to save you, she seems much worse for wear. Dakota white-knuckles her hand.
“Kelpies are shapeshifters.” He pants, also soaking wet. T.V. is the only one bone dry. “They take the form of a pony or horse and drown people for fun,” he explains. “What happened?”
You take a deep breath, “It dragged me down underwater. Antigone came to save me.”
Dakota’s eyes widen as he grabs the witch by the shoulders.
“You did what? Are you high?” he demands.
“Wait, hang on!” Jackie interjects. “What’s the problem here? She kept them both alive until we got there!”
Dakota crosses his arms. “The problem here is that Annie can’t--!”
Antigone cuts him off. “What was I supposed to do? Let the kid drown?” she rasps and shrugs off her knit sweater.
“Of course not! I just--” Groaning, he buries his face into her neck. Antigone allows the touch and strokes his hair gently. Her tired gaze flickers over to you. Jackie’s concerned voice steals your attention.
“Let’s get you back to the shop,” she says, holding a hand out to you.
You clasp her hand and the two of you pull in tandem. The moment you put weight on your feet, searing pain shoots up your leg.
The ground rushes up to meet you, then stops when a pair of strong arms wrap around your middle.
As soon as their fingertips make contact, your head erupts in a pain like someone took an axe to it. There’s a ringing in your ears and you cry out.
Whoever’s holding you lets go and you hit the mud, writhing in agony.
“I— I’m so sorry!” T.V. manages through his groans of pain, hands clenched tightly to the sides of his head.
It feels like your skull is full of liquid metal. The cool water of the pond is tempting all of a sudden, kelpie and all.
Antigone presses a cool hand to your forehead and whispers something in a language you can’t understand.
Your head is still heavy, but the white hot pain ebbs.
She crawls over to Trouvaille to give him the same treatment. His agony seems to decrease faster than yours.
Through your delirium, you hear her snap at him, “That was unbelievably stupid!”
“I know,” he replies, rubbing his temples.
“You know? Mistakes like that can be fatal. Do not let your bleeding heart be the reason you both die.”
Carefully avoiding her eyes, he says, “I know. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t talk to him like that!” you protest through the pain.
“Shut up,” she snaps. “I don’t need one idiot defending another idiot.”
Jackie crosses her arms, “Very original with the insults.”
“I’m just calling them as they are. If they feel insulted, that’s on them.”
You clench your teeth, “He said he was sorry!”
“Sorry won’t bring back the dead,” she says directly at Trouvaille. Rounding on you, she says, “Let me take a look at that ankle.”
Your left ankle is inflamed and is taking on an angry red color. It must have happened when the kelpie hit you. The throbbing pain only grows as the adrenaline flushes from your veins.
She pokes an especially puffy part.
“Ow, fuck!” you cry out, hands grabbing onto your injured leg. “Why would you touch it!?”
“Punishment for being too slow to dodge the thing,” she deadpans.
“You think getting nearly drowned wasn’t enough punishment?”
“No.”
Thankfully, the poking ceases. A purple light emits from her clawed hand. She hovers over your ankle.
“Well, that is going to need a splint.” She retracts her hand.
“You can mend ribs but you can’t unsprain an ankle?” Jackie demands.
“For one thing, ‘unsprain’ is not a word. Second, normal treatment would take weeks. I can make it a few days. Any other grievances, hotshot?”
“Maybe if you were paying attention, oh powerful witch, you could have done something before it got this bad!” she shoots back.
The witch’s mercury eyes narrow. “You want to blame me for this?”
“I do. What are you gonna do about it?” Jackie takes a step forward.
“Don’t pick fights you can’t win, you little--” Antigone begins.
Dakota nudges her.
“We should head back.” They share a tense look, but she ultimately backs down. Then he turns to you, “Can I carry you?”
You nod in agreement. He places his hands under your knees and behind your back, careful not to jostle your ankle too much.
As he stands up, he takes on a comically cheerful tone. “Thank you flying Dakota Airlines! Please fasten your seatbelts and keep all electronics stored away until we reach cruising altitude.”
“Does this flight have snacks?” you jokingly ask.
“Check my pocket!”
You reach down into his kangaroo pouch and pull out a waterlogged 4 pak of Nutter Butters.
You raise an eyebrow. “You just carry these around?”
He shrugs. “I’m a growing boy.”
“You’re 25.”
“Okay? And?”
You chuckle. On the trek back to the car, you look over his shoulder to see sunlight glimmering off of caramel hair. Trouvaille strolls several feet behind you. He gives you a weak smile but makes no attempt to get any closer.
Reaching out for him, you beckon him closer. Not to touch, but you don’t like the wide berth he gives you.
He shakes his head. ‘I’m sorry,’ he mouths.
‘Don’t be.’
His smile doesn’t reach his eyes. Instead of coming to you, he speeds up to catch up to Jackie.
The few seconds that he’s near when he passes by makes your hair stand on end. You almost reach out to stop him. You don’t. You can’t. Dakota readjusts you in his arms. After making sure everyone’s out of earshot he finds your gaze.
“Try not to be too mad at Annie. She just wants to keep all of us safe,” he says.
You briefly wondered if he swallowed too much pond water.
“You make it sound like she cares,” you grumble.
“She does. She really does. You know how if you don’t socialize dogs at a young age, they have trouble with other dogs later on? She’s like that.”
Raising an eyebrow, you reply, “Would she be mad at you comparing her to a dog?”
“Not if you don’t tell her.”
You chuckle and look ahead to see the three of them walking side by side. Trouvaille turn his head slightly. For a moment, you lock eyes before he pointedly turns back around. Your heart reaches out for someone who won’t reach back.
“Hey,” Dakota recaptures your attention. “Sometimes the people we care about decide for themselves that we’re better off without them. Those people are amazingly stubborn, but we love them anyway. Probably because we like pain, but whatever.” Up ahead, Jackie jokes around with T.V. while Antigone keeps her distance off to the side. “I just...” you sigh. “I don’t know what I think. I tell him I’m fine and I’m not afraid to get hurt, but he still pushes me away.” “I think that half of it is protecting himself. You may not be afraid of getting hurt, but he might be. Give him space, but let him know he can come to you.” “Easier said than done.”
Dakota shrugs. “Just know that these things take time. And patience. So much patience.” You glance back and forth between him and the group ahead.
“Why do you sound like you speak from experience?”
He grimaces, “If I said I don’t know what you’re taking about, would you believe me?”
“No.”
“Fair enough.”
Your gaze drifts between the trio in front of you.
“You can’t possibly--”
He cuts you off, “Wow, wouldya look at that! We’re at the car! Everyone please place your tray tables in the up position while we begin our descent!”
Trouvaille and Antigone are locked in a tense conversation. They stop to watch your approach until the witch mutters something and relinquishes her claim to the passenger seat. T.V. slides into the car without sparing you a glance.

Requested by: Anon
It was a bleak winter evening the night you met Thomas Shelby. The stars were shining and the moon was illuminating the dark roads of Small Heath, giving you an rare view of the town. You had just finished packing up your small jewelry stand that you had set up near where your families vardo was parked. This was one of your more frequent stops as there were always locals wanting to buy jewelry for their loved ones. In return, this made you a nice familiar face amongst the dreary town.
In the distance, you heard screaming, but it wasn’t one of children playing or couples yelling, it was fearful and full of anguish. Before you knew it you were running towards the sound. Yelling for your mother to keep an eye on your stuff as you dashed off into the unknown. Your heart beat frantically as the shrill screams got closer, causing a shiver down your spine as your eyes adjusted to what lay before you in the dark alley. A woman seemingly around your age was lying there in a pool of blood, a cut running across her arm and a stab wound to her abdomen. You cringed at first, but having seen your fair share of blood due to your family throwing punches and hunting, it made you a bit less squeamish. You carefully crouched down beside her, pulling off your scarf as you gently placed it over her abdomen.
Her eyes were closed and her voice was horse when she spoke.
“Please don’t let me die out here. Please take me back.” She said crying as she finally glanced up at you.
“I-I won’t let you die love you’ll be fine...where do you live? What’s your name?” You asked applying pressure to her wound as she screamed out in pain.
“A-Ada...Ada Shelby...I don’t want to go home. Take me to my brothers.” She said frantically trying to get up.
“Hey hey easy, it’s okay I got you. Where are they aye?” You asked as you draped her arm across your shoulder and helped her walk down the dark glass-like roads.
“The betting shop on the corner. You really don’t know do you?” She asked.
“Know what Ada?” You asked, leading her up the street.
“Usually if I say the last name Shelby people run or they look at me like I killed their whole family. The Shelby’s are part of the Peaky Blinders...does that ring a bell?” She asked wincing, signaling for you to stop for a moment. As you both caught your breath, you shook your head no.
“I don’t know how you couldn’t tell but I’m not like most people. I’m not from here. I travel with my family and I come here often to find work and to sell jewelry, but other than that? I’m on the road.” You said looking at your flat shoes, nothing compared to miss Ada’s fancy heels.
“I see...what’s your name?” She asked smiling slightly.
“Y/N Y/L/N.” You said, grabbing her arm and helping her walk towards the brick building up ahead.
You led her through the doors, the scent of whiskey and cigarettes filling the dimly lit lobby.
“Polly! Tommy! All of you bastards help me please!” She said yelling as the scarf grew more saturated with blood in the short time you walked her in. She was paling and you sat her up in a nearby chair as you heard everyone running over.
“My god what happened! Arthur, John, get the first aid kit now!” She yelled as Tommy came over, a worried look on his usually stoic face. You grabbed your coat, applying pressure as Ada winced until they got back with the supplies.
“I was walking here from my apartment. Tommy, I think one of Changretta’s men got me. They had those awful tattoos on their necks. They fucking cut me and stabbed me. I can’t die not like this.” She said putting a hand on her pale forehead.
Tommy looked at her concerned, his eyes going down to you as you sat by her holding her other hand.
“Who are you?” He asked angrily.
“Y/N Y/L/N...I heard her when I was packing my jewelry stand up. I ran over to help her. I didn’t see where the men went though.” You said looking him in the eyes before helping Polly prep some gauze. You took your glove off and urged her to open her mouth.
“You’ll want to bite down on something. This is going to hurt.” You said before pouring some of the whiskey on her abdomen while Polly poured some on her arm. Ada screamed through the cloth, earning concerned glances from some of the unrelated workers in the shop. You poured more, making sure to flush out the wound before quickly threading a needle.
“I can stitch if you’d rather not go to a hospital.” You said. Polly eyed you and Ada nodded as you began. Tommy watched as you worked, neatly stitching the small puncture wound closed.
Polly gently wrapped her arm with gauze and you helped Ada up to wrap some around her waist. After that, she gave you a hug and you went to grab your coat.
“No dear, here I’ll wash these, it’s the least we can do. Thank you for saving our Ada, Y/N.” Polly said smiling.
“Of course...I couldn’t let something happen knowing I was that close.” You said, messing nervously with the gold necklaces draped around your neck.
“So you’re travelling with the other gypsies up the road aye?” Polly asked.
“Yeah. my family likes stopping here, good business since it’s busy usually.” You said.
“Oh I’m very familiar. I grew up traveling. I think I’ve seen you before...you sell the beautiful necklaces.” She said smiling, putting your nerves at ease.
“Yeah...” You said.
“C’mon we have to find them. John you get the guns, Arthur you get the ammo.” Tommy said lowly walking by you.
“Are you going after them?” You asked him. He stopped in his tracks as his eyes pierced yours. He nodded and lit a cigarette staring at you as he waited for his brothers.
“You going to kill them?” you asked.
He smirked and looked over at Ada and Polly and then back at you.
“No I’m just goin’ to see if they want to have a tea party.” He said dryly joking.
You nodded, knowing the real answer. To be honest you’d do the same if someone came after your family.
They soon left, leaving you with Polly and a groaning Ada.
“You’ve not heard of the blinders?” Polly asked gathering your blood soaked clothing. You shook your head, yet preparing yourself for her explanation of the family business.
Later that night, you were taken back to where you family was parked by one of the Shelby’s drivers. Thanking him as you were helped out of the fancy black car. Your family came out of the two vardos and ran towards you enveloping your frame in a hug and asking where you had run off to. You hesitantly told them, knowing they were more likely to know who your new acquaintances are.
Your father tensed up and so did your mother, but you reassured them and could tell they were still happy you stopped to help someone.
The next few days passed and you spent them selling various necklaces and then deciding to go into town with your parents. You all bought some supplies and various things, and then returned a few hours later. While unpacking your latest haul, you heard an oddly familiar voice outside. Carefully stepping out, you saw Ada and Tommy talking with your parents. They seemed at ease as you heard Tommy speaking with your father. As you walked up you saw Ada smile and go in for a hug. You embraced her gently to avoid ripping her stitches and then stepped back.
“Hello Y/N. We wanted to thank you.” He said smiling slightly, handing you your jacket and scarf from the previous night, no sign of blood on them. They were soft and smelled rather floral.
“Oh thank you. And it was no problem really Mr. Shelby.” You said, catching him looking at you as you glanced up from the coat in your arms.
“Call me Tommy.” He said, another small smile playing at his lips.
Your parents excused themselves knowing this was more your business than theirs, and you hugged Ada once more before waving them off.
A thought crossed your mind though, making you smirk.
“Hey Tommy!” You asked, causing him to stop with Ada, the two of them looking at you.
“How was the tea party?” You asked smirking.
“Great...a little bloody though.” He said smirking back.
You nodded and waved them off, putting on your coat and placing your scarf in one of your pockets. When you tried to pull your hand out, your fingers brushed against a piece of paper. You gently pulled it out, and opened it so you could read what it said.
“Y/N Y/L/N,
I apologize for being so frank last night. Per my aunt Polly’s request...as well as all of my sibling’s, I have written this as a thank you for saving my sister. She has been talking non-stop about the events that transpired and about you. Something about how we should meet more often and that you seem like a good fit for me? I can’t say no to her though, since she practically begged me to write this.
Therefore, since we didn’t meet in normal circumstances and since I can’t help but to agree, I’d love to ask you out. I’ll be at the shop tomorrow evening at 6. If you’re interested, I’d love for you to come by. I look forward to getting to know you and discussing the “tea party.”
~ T. S.”
You smiled at the small letter and laughing at the assumed inside joke between you two. You’d barely met the man, but if his family felt this strongly, you figured it couldn’t hurt. You’d been single for a long while, the constant travel putting a strain on any relationship you attempted to have in the past.
The next day you spent the day rummaging through your various dresses, picking out a lacey white one. You slipped it on and checked your makeup in the small mirror in your vardo before heading out, wrapping your coat around your shoulders. As you made your way through the streets you eventually got to the shop and walked in nervously. It was a drastically different atmosphere compared to the other night, men were roaming about yelling out various numbers and the other women among them were typing and making calls.
You saw Polly in the distance and smiled when she saw you come in. She quickly walked over, giving you a hug.
“What are you doing here dear? Is everything alright?” She asked.
You smirked. “I’m um, here to see Tommy. I got a letter?” You said, holding it in your hand.
“Ah that. I’m glad he got to writing it. I’ll show you to his office.” She said, taking your hand.
She knocked and he answered, letting her in with you following behind.
“I have a visitor Tommy. Be good. She said nodding towards him and leaving.
Tommy smiled and stood up, eyeing you as you walked towards his desk.
“I see you got the letter...would you like a drink? I have whiskey and.....whiskey.” He said, walking over to his stash of the brown liquid and crystal glasses.
“That’s a hard one...I’m going to have to go with the whiskey.” You said smirking.
A minute later you were holding a cold glass, sipping on it as you sat in one of Tommy’s leather chairs.
“So about the tea party...I’m assuming my aunt told you about the peaky business right?” He asked.
“Yeah.” You said, fiddling with your necklace.
“Does that make you scared?” He asked. You thought for a moment, but you decided to take another chance.
“Not really. I’m here aren’t I?” You said.
He laughed lightly and took a drink, sitting down beside you.
“You said you agreed to their request of meeting me...is that true?” You asked. Tommy got up after a moment and put his hand out for you to grab.
“If it weren’t, we wouldn’t be leaving.” He said. You took his hand and laughed as he pulled you through the lobby and out the doors of the shop.
“Where the hell are we going?” You asked seeing the sun was setting over the town.
“The Garrison. I figured that it’d be more of a date if I took ya somewhere.” He said ushering you inside the pub. The smell of smoke and various alcohols filled your nostrils as you took your coat off and placed it with Tommy’s.
As you all talked the night away, you grew more drowsy and he walked you back towards your vardo. But in shock, you stood there looking at the sight before you. The wooden planks holding up the intricate structure were torn off, and the inside was destroyed. You ran over to your parents and saw them picking up pieces of clothing and random trinkets the assumed robbers left behind. When you walked back and checked your living space you saw a black cross-like design had been painted on your door.
You looked at Tommy with hot, anger filled tears in your eyes.
“Who did this? Who fucked with my family aye?” You said walking up to him and shoving him in the shoulder. He barely moved as a an angry look overcame his features as well. You stormed off and rummaged for a handgun you had in your purse, never feeling the need to use it until now.
“You know who did this don’t you. Don’t fucking lie to me Tom.” You said cocking the gun and checking the bullets. He watched you as you angrily paced, and walked over, gently placing his hand over the barrel of the gun.
“I do know. It’s the same gang that attacked Ada. We...unfortunately have a vendetta with them. But going out there and shooting random men isn’t going to stop this.” He said looking at you. You were shaking slightly at the sudden rush of emotions as the alcohol still burned through your system.
“They took almost everything from us. Where will we go? Where the hell will we live? I though you took care of them last time!” You yelled, easing the handgun down and shoving it back into your purse.
“I have a spare property down the road, you all can stay there. Don’t worry Y/N I’ll make sure they won’t live to see tomorrow.” He said before you threw him into a hug. You cried knowing your family was safe, but also at the thought of losing all you’ve worked for. Your life was in that small space and it was all gone or severely broken, and your heart was too.
“C’mon, I’ll send some men to come help them. I’ll take you to the shop, and you’ll stay there until I get back ok?” He said. You nodded and followed him to the shop, this time in a much more sullen tone.
He immediately called everyone into the meeting room and he let you sit by Polly as he spoke. You quietly told her what happened and she sighed. The rest of them you had assumed liked you after saving their sisters life and all, and so they all got ready, cocking their guns and putting on their razor caps. Ada came over to you with tears in her eyes, taking your hands in hers.
“Oh Y/N I’m so sorry to have dragged you into this.” She said. You smiled and reassured her she wasn’t at fault. As the night drug on, you discussed your new living situation and were alerted by some of Tommys men that your parents were safe. You cried with relief, sitting in the meeting room shakily. Polly came in a moment later, with some tea, knowing you needed something to calm your nerves.
“Thanks.” You said, feeling the hot steam against your lips.
“No problem. Don’t worry about him, he’ll be back. He always is.” She said staring out at the night sky through the dusty window.
You nodded, sitting there as you let your mind wander. You looked up after a long while, your eyes growing heavy, and decided to concentrate on the clock. It was almost midnight.
Before your mind could race to where your new love interest could be, he thankfully came through the doors with his brothers, as they hollered and sat their weapons down.
You stood up slowly, as you saw Tommy walk towards you. He had a cut on his forehead and a slightly busted lip.
He said nothing as he came to you, the adrenaline from the night coursing through him as he embraced you, catching you by surprise. He then kissed you, his lip burning slightly as he kissed you, but nevertheless he continued. When he stopped, you stood there gazing into his eyes.
“They’re gone. You don’t have to worry now.” He said. You nodded and hugged him again, feeling him planting a kiss on the top of your head.
“Well are you going to invite her over or are you going to fuck in the lobby?” Arthur shouted as John and the others laughed. Tommy turned around slightly and gave him a look and then turned back to you.
“Would you like to go now?” He asked.
Your cheeks heated up at his brothers remarks, but you decided to take him up on the offer. “Yeah, as a matter of fact I do.” You said, and before you knew it you where being led out to his car and driven to his house, nervously awaiting what was to come. As soon as you got to his estate, he led you through on a tour. Your eyes widened at the grandiosity of the place. You had rarely seen a place like this, only imagining them in fairytales. You looked around as he led you through, stopping lastly at the main bedroom which you assumed was his.
You had just enough time to revel at the room before he kissed you again, making you giggle slightly as he snaked his arms around your waist and nipped at your neck. As he worked his way down, he undid your dress, letting it slip down your frame as he went to lie back on the bed. You hesitantly undid his shirt and pants, slipping them off as he watched you.
“Are you sure you want to?” He asked.
“Never been so sure in my life...” You said before straddling his waist. He smirked, and kissed you as you continued your movements making him fall for you more with each second that passed.
After your night together, you decided a couple of days later on another date, more-so like a re-do since you both were more drawn to each other. As time went on, you became closer with his family, while yours acclimated to their new temporary surroundings. And over the upcoming weeks you managed to land a job with them, helping you to earn some money and helping your parents to get a new vardo to get them back on their feet. After a couple of months you had been able to attend more of the family meetings, after deciding to stay at Tommy’s place instead of travelling. And after some odd weeks later, a new gang problem arose, giving you that same fearful feeling that you had some many months ago. Before heading out, tommy cocked his gun and checked the bullets making sure each one was accounted for, and walked past you with his brothers towards the door.
“Hey you forgot something...” You said smirking as he smiled and walked towards you kissing you.
“No more tea parties alright? You be careful okay?” You said. He chuckled and winked at you before heading out the door, going out to deal with death and destruction once again. As much as you hated him being gone, you loved when he came back, and his family did too of course, especially since you’ve made him a bit nicer. As you walked back to your desk and picked up where you left of with your work, you smiled, knowing you made the right choice and took the right chances.

kale ghode ki naal ring original
In the world of jewelry, certain pieces carry not only aesthetic beauty but also a deep sense of tradition and symbolism. The "Kale Ghode Ki Naal" ring, also known as the "Black Horse Shoe Ring," is one such unique and cherished ornament that holds a special place in many cultures. In this article, we will explore the origins, symbolism, and significance of the original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring.
Origin of the Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring
The Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring has its roots deeply embedded in Indian folklore and superstition. "Kale" translates to black, "Ghode" means horse, and "Naal" refers to a horseshoe. As the name suggests, this ring is adorned with a miniature black horseshoe, often made of iron or steel. Its origin dates back centuries, and it is believed to have protective properties against negative energies and evil forces.
Symbolism and Significance
The primary symbolism associated with the Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring is that of protection and warding off malevolent influences. In many cultures, the horseshoe has long been regarded as a symbol of good luck and safeguarding against the evil eye. When worn as a ring, it is believed to create a shield of positivity around the wearer, ensuring their well-being and safety.
Originality and Authenticity
In recent times, the market has seen an influx of imitation rings claiming to be "original." However, it is crucial for buyers to be discerning and seek out authentic sources like trusted jewelers and specialty stores. An original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring is typically made of iron or steel, materials known for their magnetic properties, which are believed to enhance the ring's protective qualities.
Wearing and Caring for Your Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring
To benefit from the protective properties of the ring, it is traditionally worn on the middle finger of the right hand. Some people also choose to wear it on a chain around their neck. To maintain the originality and authenticity of the ring, it's essential to keep it clean and dry, avoiding exposure to moisture, chemicals, or harsh sunlight.
Modern Interpretations
While the original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring remains a symbol of tradition and protection, it has also found a place in contemporary fashion. Many jewelry designers incorporate this unique piece into their collections, offering variations in materials and designs to suit individual preferences.
Conclusion
The original Kale Ghode Ki Naal Ring is not merely a piece of jewelry; it is a talisman with deep cultural roots and symbolism. It serves as a reminder of our connection to traditions and the enduring belief in the power of protection against negative energies. Whether worn for its spiritual significance or as a fashion statement, this ring continues to hold a special place in the hearts of many who value both style and tradition.

dragon in a waterfall | a “bird on a wire” drabble
I don‘t know where this came from but I wrote it very fast at lunch. It is a missing piece to “bird on a wire” aka the Princess and Bodyguard fic. It is vaguely referenced in one of Dany’s thoughts in that fic. This is ANGST. Apologies for boo boos.
There was a ringing in her ears when she flicked her eyelids up, confused, wondering how come an alarm was going off-- shouldn't it be the middle of the night? Was she sleeping this entire time? Perhaps she was dreaming?
She tried to sit up, her chest aching, pressed on concrete, her evening gown torn from her shoulder and the skirt ripped in several layers around her knees and feet; she was really cold. She never was cold; dragonblood, everyone joked, kept her running hot even if the frigid climes of the far North. Except now she shivered, head to toe, her skin pebbled to gooseflesh. The ringing was getting worse, when she tried to sit up, and she blinked again, her cheek scratched, and her side damp, like she'd landed in a puddle of water.
And she realized she was not dreaming.
Oh no, this was a nightmare.
"Jon!" she screamed, her throat vibrating from the exertion, the volume in her scream. It came from her collapsed lungs, expanding them painfully, the horror at what had just happened settling into her memory, returning from the blacked out moment on the concrete.
She tried to stand up, but Barristan was grabbing her around hte middle, liftin gher bodily from the ground; her shoes were missing. Her bare feet scrabbled on the cobblestones, unable to gain traction, her arms flailing, scratching at the bodyguard, refusing to listen to his commands. Viserys was screaming for her, from the backseat of an SUV, before the door slammed on him, and she thought she heard her mother sobbing for her as well, and where was Rhaegar? Did it even matter?
Nothing mattered.
None of her family mattered to her, because she had realized now what had happened, and why there was a damp spot on her side, and her body bruised and battered, and the chaos swarming them. She could only see, tunnelvision, everything black on the edges of her sight, the figure lying in the center of the courtyard, blood pouring underneath him, Ser Arthur hovering over him, staunching bleeding with the shawl that had formerly been around her shoulders, and now was trying to keep blood in someone's body.
All she could see now was a hand, off to the side, fingers unmoving; fingers that had been in her palm only moments before, that had squeezed her hand deftly, when no one was looking, before she entered the Casterly Rock gardens for that evening's outdoor gala, to celebrate Rhaegar's coronation, while on a tour of the Westerlands. It was never meant to be, it seemed someone was unhappy with that idea, and they'd decided to slip in under the guise of a waiter? A driver? Another bodyguard? She did not know, nor did she care.
BEcause whoever it was had called her name and she turned, and then there was a shocking pain in her side and then she went flying on the ground, because Jon had lunged in front, throwing her behind him, and taken the hits instead. At least, that's what she had envisioned in her mind, everything blurry and fuzzy, but it was making sense.
And he was lying there, dying on the stones, and she was somewhere else, ignoring Barristan as he tried to wrap a bandage around her, in the back of an SUV, while she clawed at the glass window, the door handle, screaming and desperate, not feeling anything but the need to get to him.
"Jon, Jon, Jon!" she repeated, delirious, screaming, her throat hoarse. She spun on Barristan, trying to crawl over him, over Ser Gerold, who was barking at the chauffeur to get them to the pre-arranged hospital and ensure there was a full detail there. "Let me out ! I'm fine! Let me out! I need Jon!"
"Princess you're injured!"
"No I'm not!" she howled, evne though her hands were red, staining the inside of the SUV, and her head was swimming, everything staring to get fuzzy again. Gerold was saying she was in shock, she had to stop, but she kicked at him when he moved to wrap her in a blanket, and continued to sob for Jon.
If he dies, I will die too, she thought, the last image before she passed out, of his face, before he'd pushed her, before everything went to the seven hells, when for a brief moment, they were a couple entering a party, to enjoy an evening, to dance, and maybe kiss under the stars. His shy smile, tugging at the corners of his lips, the corners of his eyes crinkling, so very handsome in his black suit, and even with that wiggly little wire that came out of his ear and threaded down his neck and arm to the microphone in his hand. She jokingly called it the Sea Snake. She'd given it a name, after the famous Sea Snake himself, saying "Corlys must be with us today" when he had to wear it around her.
He had been smiling because she whispered to him that they were practicing for a real date, one day, and it had been joyful, but sad too, because they didn't know when or if or how they could ever have such a day. A day where he was Jon and she was Dany, and they were just out having fun. They were strangers in a bar, they met, and they went back to his place or hers, and then coffee the next morning.
It was easy to pretend, because she knew they couldn't have it the other way.
Not yet.
They were working their way there, they were going to try, one day, but not yet, because things were too new with Rhaegar as king and Viserys was sick and too many changes at once were too much for her family to handle.
And now it was all gone.
She was going to lose him, before she could ever really have him how she wanted.
Stolen kisses in alcoves, disappearing in crowded dance floors in illegal clubs, and running into the night from hidden passageways, with sometimes months in between each. She lived in a constant state of missing him, aching for him, even when he was inches away from her, always there, her protective shadow.
He had his hair back that night, like he did on big events, to keep it from his face, and she'd joked in the car over-- it had just been them-- that he looked like an aging hippie. He teased her that he thought he looked like a young intellecutal. "You, an intellectual?" she joked, kissing his knuckles. "The man who has comic books on his nightstand? Hardly."
"I'll have you know those comics are pretty deep, talking about man's fight against nature and his own inner self."
"Jon, it's about a cartoon Night's Watch ranger."
"Exactly, he's fighting against his internal demons because why else would he join the NIght's Watch?"
"You did."
"Aye," he admitted. He turned to her, and stole a quick kiss, only because the partition between them and the driver was up. He whispered, earnest, squeezing her hand hard. "And it brought me to you."
She brushed her hand over his cheek, regretfully sighing when the car came to a stop. "Hold my hand before we go in? Just for a moment? We can be on a first date."
"Save me a dance," he murmured, kissing her again, chaste, breaking away quickly to step out of the car first, to run around and hold open the door, and she blinked back tears, and plastered her smile on, breaking her cheeks and forcing it back, so when she climbed out of the car, waving at the crowds that had gathered outside Casterly Rock to see the royal family and other assorted celebrities enter for the grand event, she would be envied and beloved.
Daenerys, Princess Royal, didn't everyone want to be her? She was so beautiful, so famous, so lucky. She could have anything she wanted-- a horse, cars, planes, a castle even, and she never had to work, never had to give up anything for it, because that's the type of life she could have.
And they never knew that the glow to her cheeks was from sobbing before they left the hotel, the shine in her eyes was unshed tears, and her heart was breaking, each and every single day.
The Dragon Queen, the tabloids called her, even if she was but a princess.
She dreamed now, a world that was not her own, and perhaps she was dead. Was this the afterlife, have I been burned like my ancestors before me, she wondered, drifting through trees, the ground soundless under her bare feet.
And she emerged in a beautiful clearing, with waterfalls in a pool, crashing against stones, jagged and lurching upwards from the ground. It was breathtaking, snowcapped mountains surrounding the valley, hiding it from anyone who dared to enter such a peaceful sanctum. She smiled, her fingers dragging along some flowers bunched around the rocks near the pool-- blue winter roses. They smelled so sweet, i twas like they were emerging from a wall of ice.
She tugged on one, and lifted it to her nose, inhaling the lovely aroma.
"They make me think of you."
Turning at his voice, she was not startled-- of cours ehe was here with her. He approached slowly, not in the all black suit he'd been wearing or the black uniform he favored or even his clubbing attire of black leather and boots. He was relaxed, just like her, barefoot and free, white button down and loose gray pants. She noted she was in a white dress; are we getting married, she briefly wondered.
She let him take the flower from her fingers, reaching to tuck it into her hair, his hand dragging down her jaw and to her throat, his finertips alighting on her pulse. "Jon," she gasped, hands upon his chest. "Is this just a dream?"
"If it is a dream, then it is a good dream," he answered, lifting her lips to his, kissing against the backdrop of the falls. She moaned softly, returning the kiss, and clutched at his shirt, desperate for it, praying it would never end. Except it did, and he broke away, the side of his nose against hers, breaths mingling. "Blue winter roses are strong and survive in the harshest of winters, like you do Dany. My dragon."
She blinked away tears. "Are we dead?"
"No."
"Then where are we?"
He glanced around, smiling and shrugged. "Appears we are in the North...I remember this place. I came here as a boy."
"It's beautiful."
"So are you."
She wanted to stay there forever; she knew it couldn't be. "We could stay a thousand years," she said, watching his face, the happiness there and then the sadness, his gray eyes clouding over. "No one would ever find us."
"We'd be pretty old."
THen we'd be pretty old, we could grow old together, you and I, away from it all. She allowed him to embrace her, kissing her, and swallowing her up, the dream falling away, like water trickling through her fingers.
And she woke up, lying in a bed, harsh hospital lights on her, and a tube in her nose. She was stiff, cold, awkward. The linens were scratchy and they'd placed her in a gown. She had an IV in her arm, which she ignored, turning and struggling, her strength returning. An alarm beeped, like the ringing in her ears from after hte attack, and someone yelled that the Princess was awake. I have a name, she thought, her feet hitting the cold title floor. She whipped off the oxygen tubing around her ears and nose, fighting at the IV line connected to a stand next to her.
A door burst open, her mother rushing in-- still in her deep plum evening gown-- with a doctor and a nurse and Barristan. "Your Highness!" Barristan exclaimed. "Please, the doctor did not want you moving."
"Daenerys, darling, please listen to them," her mother called, grabbing for her hand. "You need to rest, you've been hurt! Oh gods, please just stay put for once in your life, stop trying to run away!"
No!
"Jon!" she exclaimed, pushing at them. "I need to see him! Is he dead?"
Barristan shook his head and Rhaella pushed her towards the bed in the brief moment she paused, focusing on the old guard. "No, he's in surgery, please, do not worry about..."
"I have to worry about him!" She knocked away a nurse who was moving for her IV, after the doctor said something about a sedative. "Don't you drug me! I am Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, Princess of the Seven Kingdoms, and I am the Dragon's Daughter and you will not stop me from seeing him!" All the strength inside of her raged, fire flaring from her eyes and heaving in her chest. She did not care. "He is my Jon, he took a knife for me, and I will not be pushed aside like a simpering little girl!"
They didn't even tell her what had happened ot her; she guessed from the bandages wrapped around her middle, the ache there, that hte knife had swiped her, but not enough to do significant damage, as she could walk and talk. They all stared at her, stunned, but she didn't care, pushing Barristan aside and struggling towards the door.
Rhaella drew her shoulders back, voice cold. "Get her a chair, at least a robe, she will not be stopped." She smirked. "I know my daughter."
"But Your Highness," a doctor began, but silenced upon the glare Rhaella shot him. He nodded meekly and hurried out.
She collapsed into a wheelchair, head in her hands, and allowed htem to wrap her in a red robe that had bene in her hotel room last she remembered. Time meant nothing to her; it could be days later, or hours, and she grabbed at Missandei-- her best friend of course had managed to get in-- when they went down the hall, seeing her urnning towards them from an open set of elevator doors.
Missandei cried, grabbing for her. "Oh gods Dany! I was so scared! You're alright?"
"Jon was stabbed," she said hollowly.
Understanding, Missandei pushed away a nurse and took the chair, pushing her where they led, into an elevator, up a few flors, and down some hallways. They pushed her into a room, dark, only lights from the operating suite it flanked, and she realized it was where the doctors and nurses scrubbed up before surgery. She forced herself to her feet, grabbing the edge of hte window, staring at the activity going on in front of her.
Doctors and nurses flurried about the prone body on the table, bloodied materials tossed on the floor around their feet and tray tables at their elbows. There were flashes of metallic objects as they worked, and monitors seemed to be hanging and standing everywhere, she couldn't focus on one or the other. Some had lines going across them, numbers blinking and flashing. Others magnified the activity going on on the table, all red and confusing.
There was something pulsing in the doctor's palm and she realized in shock it was his heart. They were fixing his heart, stitching it together.
But that's my job.
That's my heart too.
"Is he going to be okay?" she croaked.
Someone said that he'd been stabbed seven times, one straight to the heart, and the doctors were doing all they could. Her mother lightly touched her elbow, whispering. "He did his job Dany. I know you were close darling, but he did his job. He protected you."
No we weren't just close. It seemed Barristan had realized that, even if her mother hadn't yet. They would soon, because she wasn't going to stop. She whispered, shaking her head. "He saved me, Mother. he didn't protect me, he saved me." He saved me in all the ways you can be saved. So many, many ways.
"We need to get you back to your bed," Barristan murmured.
She shook her head. "No, no I am staying here. I'm not leaving and when he's ou tof surgery, yo uwill bring me to his bedside."
"Dany," Rhaealla began.
She whirled on her mother, shouting. "No! No Mother, I love him, don't you get it? He's not just my bodyguard, he is the love of my life and he's lying there on a table, bleeding for me!" Her shoulders shook, the wails taking over her, and she released everything she'd been holding in, unable to take it, and fell into the chair, no longer able to speak, because she missed him and she hurt everywhere.
It was out, the secret was out.
Months and years of hiding, gone now, and she didn't care.
Time passed; she knew htey drugged her and she drifted away into a dreamless state, and came in and out, noticing that Rhaegar was there and then her mother, and she caught snippets of them saying Viserys had gone catatonic and was being taken back immediately to Summerhall for treatment. She thought she heard Rhaegar say something about "if he pulls through we need to move him" and her mother saying that "it wasn't time for that."
She wanted to be out somewhere, in a club dancing, partying, and she wondered where Drogo wa shaving one of his latest raves and bashes. It would be fun, she thought, tasting the alcohol on her tongue, her nose burning from smoke. She came to again and this time there was no one in the room except Barristan, who ordinarily was her mother's guard, and for some reason was here with her.
"Barristan," she mumbled, blinking; her eyelids felt like there were weights on the lashes.
Barristan smiled and touched her hand, whispering. "Princess."
Understanding, she tried to sit up, panicked. "Jon, is Jon..."
"He's out of surgery. Come Princess. Before your brother finds out." Barristan helped her from bed, into a wheelchair, and bundled again. He took her from her room, in a fancy private suite, and said something to the other Kingsguard, so many of them flitting about, in their black suits with white shields on the lapels.
In another wing, in a smaller room, with a window looking from the hall into it, he pushed her towards a bed, where Jon was lying, his chest marred with bandages and tubing, arms locked down from wires and monitors. There was a tube for oxygen around his nose, but no ventilator, and monitors beeping erratically around him. Barristan leaned down, whispering. "His heart rate has been...worrying. It keeps dropping. They needed to shock him twice."
Tears did not fall now. She pushed herself forward, towards the bed, her limbs clumsy. He was so still. He was sleeping, but it was scary, because his skin was ashy and his cheeks gaunt-- had he always been so thin? She traced his collarbone, where a few lines went into his skin, and along his pulse. It thrummed under her touch. There were dark bruises under his eyes and his dark curls were lank, pushed under his head and out of hte way. She noted that his muscles were hidden under bandages, but he was strong, in so many ways, and he would recover.
He had to.
She touched his hand, sliding hers into it, and held tight. It was limp against her. "Jon please," she whispered, squeezing. She leaned in, lips against his ear, begging. "Please I need you. I love you. Come back to me."
Careful of everything, she crawled onto the bed next to him, her head beside his on the pillow, and she ignored Barristan trying to say that maynbe it wasn't good for her to be there, they should get her back to her room. No, I'm not leaving. She kissed the corner of his mouth, sighing. "Jon, come back to me, I love you, you can't leave me. You're mine."
A monitor beeped. She darted her eyes towards her, the heartrate increasing, and then steadying. She knew it would. He could hear her; he was in that clearing somewhere, waiting for her, and she closed her eyes, to fall asleep and go visit him there.
"Da....da..."
The raspy sound kept her from falling into that world, her eyes springing open. "Jon?" she breathed, looking down at his face.
His eyelids fluttered, cracked lips trembling. "Da...ny."
"Jon, oh gods Jon," she cried, kissing him, holding his face in her hands. "It's me, I'm here."
His eyes opened, giving her a glimpse of the cool gray, and his lips pulled back, barely. "Da-ny," he slurred. "Love..."
"I love you, I know, don't talk. Don't talk, I'm here."
They would deal with the repercussions later, the fallout from the attack, from everyone knowing. Of course they knew now, because she thought she saw Arthur in the hallway which meant Rhaegar was nearby, and when her brother the King discovered that his sister the Princess, was in love with her bodyguard, it would have to end. It would be too difficult to maintain impartiality, it would look wrong, and it could never happen. He could not be her match, because she was the Princess of hte Seven Kingdoms and he was just Jon.
She didn't care right now.
It would fall out the way it would fall out. They could deal with it then.
Right now, he was alive and in her arms, and that was how it should be.

Requests are open!!
Matsukawa was finishing up his shift at the local bar for the night as you sat at home in your shared apartment. Matsukawa and you have been working different shifts lately and tonight was the first time you had gotten off only an hour earlier than him. You decided to surprise Matsukawa with a little picture. You sat in front of your bedroom mirror naked, legs spread, holding a vibrator against your clit, taking a photo. A quick send of your message off to Matsukawa with the message below that read I couldn't wait for you any longer daddy.
Matsukawa was headed back home with his freshly lit cigarette hanging from his lips. The street lights showing off his toned arms and tattoos. Just as he was almost home, his phone went off. He was quick to respond to the message. I thought you were being good, baby girl?
You opened the message instantly groaning as you made the tip of the vibrator enter your soaking pussy.
Matsukawa opened the front door soon after. He tossed his shoes off and headed up to your room hearing your moans fill the hallway now.
“Baby girl, just what do you think you are doing?”
“Touching myself daddy cause you haven't been.” Matsukawa’s expression changed, his eyes full of lust as he smirked just a little.
“On the bed now. You don’t want to make your punishment worse, right baby girl?” You got off the floor, vibrator still stuffed in your tight hole as you sat on the bed. Matsukawa raised his eyebrows at you,
“So you decided to just act like a bad girl then huh, brat.” Your pussy clenched at just the sound of his words. He sat down on the bed. Before you even got the chance to look at him he tossed you over his knee, removing the vibrator and throwing it across the room. A whine could be heard from your mouth. “You better count these, baby girl. Don’t miss a single one or you wont get to cum tonight.” As soon as he finished speaking a hard slap came down or your right ass cheek.
“One!” You groan out, he slapped down on the opposite cheek, the same strength. “Two!” He continued his fast harsh pace, five slaps per cheek as he pulled his hand away. He lifted you up and placed you on the bed close to the edge. You instantly squeezed your thighs together once again knowing what was next.
“Look at what you did to my jeans, they're just as soaked as your pussy. You really enjoyed your punishment that much, brat?” He gave your clit a light slap as you moaned out.
“Since you were so good for your spankings, let me give you a little reward baby girl.” He pulled your legs all the way over the side of the bed, then spread them apart. He lowered his head and shoulders in between them. He lifted your legs over his shoulders placing his hands tightly on your thighs. Before even making contact with you. Your hips started to buck. “If you want this you have to stay completely still. Can you do that for me?”
“Yes Daddy.” you mustered out just above a whisper. With your agreement to behave, he instantly shoved his tongue deep inside your pussy, the cold metal from his tongue piercing giving you nothing but absolute bliss. His eyebrow piercing pressed tightly into your right thigh giving you a cold feeling adding to the pleasure. He pulled his tongue out only to give your clit a slow lick as if it was the best damn meal he had ever had.
Your hands were balled up in the sheets as you moaned. He moved one hand off your thigh and started sliding his thick middle finger inside you. He moved his tongue up now attacking your clit, licking and sucking it. He was moving at such a slow pace as you whimpered out. He shoved another finger in picking up the pace, and then a third. The cold sensation of rings that lined his newly added finger felt sensational thrusting into you. He picked up the pace to brutal speed once he noticed how much you were struggling to not buck into his face.
“Daddy! Please!
“Please what baby girl?”
“Please let me cum!” Just as he felt your hole clench around his fingers, he pulled his fingers away and bit down on your inner right thigh . You let out a loud whine once again. “Daddy! I was so close!”
“You were also a brat, don’t think I forgot about that picture or vibrator, baby girl.” He leaves a few more kisses along your inner thighs before pulling back. He stands up beside the bed. He pulls his tight black t-shirt over his head now and onto the floor. You stared up at his toned upper body breathing heavily as you lick your lips.
“Like what you see baby girl?”
“I always like what I see Daddy.” He gave you a sly smirk as he pulled his pants off. His large cock was outlined in his boxers as he slowly started taking it out. You reached your hand out sitting up as he pushed you back down.
“Not tonight baby girl. I just want to be inside your tight pussy.” He moved so he was now hovered over you. As he pulled you into a heated kiss, biting your lower lip to allow his tongue entrance. You were moaning so loud in his kisses as his metal tongue piercing circled your mouth, still tasting the sweet taste of your pussy on his tongue. He aligned his tip with your entrance as he slowly pushed inside you. His large hands were placed on both of your hips roughly. Matsukawa’s cock was extremely thick and long. Every time he filled you up you felt an immense amount of pleasure, with a bit of pain due to the massive stretch. He slowly started to move inside you as he had finally bottomed out.
“Fuck Daddy! Faster! Please!” You managed to yell between kisses.
You saw him give you his signature smirk as he said, “Anything for you baby girl.” His pace picked up now, slamming roughly inside. With each thrust he pulls back so far almost to be all the way out, before pounding back into you again, kissing your cervix with his tip with every thrust..
“DA-” You couldn’t get out a single word without coming undone all over his cock. He continued at his current pace, no sign of stopping.
“Wow baby girl, coming just like that? We are nowhere near being finished so I hope you are ready for the next one.” He finishes with a bite down on your neck in your most sensitive spot. A loud moan erupting from your lips as he left more bites. Your hands moved quickly up to his hair giving it the little pulls he always likes.
Hickies and bite marks now all over your neck and collarbone. Matsukawa’s large right hand started to palm at your left breast as his other was still roughly placed on your hip still. Your back was now arched as your left leg moved behind his back. He slowly dragged his other hand up to your other breast, pinching both your nipples roughly between his fingertips. As soon as your other leg wrapped around him, he was hitting a new spot deep inside you.
“Daddy please! Please just-” You were cut off with another loud moan as he moved his right hand away from your breast to rub your clit.
“What was that baby girl? You know I need you to use your words.” He said as he continues thrusting into you.
“CHOKE ME! CHOKE ME PLEASE! LET ME WEAR YOUR HAND LIKE ITS A CHOKER ” You said screaming out as you were close to another orgasm. Matsukawa smirked to himself once again, but this time it was full of pure lust.
“Anything for you baby. I love it when you wear me.” He pulled his hand off your breast and placed his fingers on the side of your throat. “Tap my nose if it's too tight, okay baby girl.” You nodded in agreement as he began to put pressure down on your throat. You instantly cum again on his cock at the newfound feeling. He did not let up though, as his early statement was still in play. Your arms snake down from his hair now to his back as you began to moan louder than you ever have before. You dug your nails into the back of his shoulder blades, slowly moving them down sensually as each thrust began to feel better then the last. Your lack of oxygen was making you feel light headed but you didn't mind as you felt euphoric. Matsukawa pulled your legs off his back now putting them on his shoulders, Pushing himself closer on top of you. You move your hands to his biceps now, giving them a squeeze with each thrust. His cock felt as if it was rearranging your guts now. “Fuck baby girl, I can feel my cock inside your stomach. I’m going to cum inside you.” And with that he released his load.. You began to cum at the feeling of his hot liquid filling you up.
“Daddy” You choked out again, barely above a whisper. Now it was your turn as you squirted all over him, slightly pushing out his huge cock.
“Fuck did you just squirt while I was choking you?” He pulled out fully now as you tried to hide your face. He pulled down your hand. “There's no need to hide your face (y/n), that was fucking hot. If I knew earlier you would have squirted on me from choking I would have tried it a lot sooner. “ The sheets below you two now covered sweat and cum..
Masukawa stood and walked out of the room only to grab a wet towel and wipe you up.
“Issei? “ you spoke up to get his attention. “Can we do that again next time?”
“Fuck yeah baby girl, I want to see you squirt like that everytime now.” She giggled as he climbed into bed beside her. .
“Issei! Your back! I'm so sorry!” You had noticed the scratch marks now covering the back of his shoulder blades. You didn’t even know when you had made those. He just laughed.
“It’s okay baby girl, why don’t you take a nap and in a bit I will wake you up for your next punishment for leaving me these marks, hmm?” You nodded in response. He snaked his hands around your waist making him the big spoon as he rested his head on your shoulder. You began to lightly trace over his tattoos as you found it helped you sleep as it relaxed you and Matsukawa.
“I love you (y/n).” he whispered into your hair.
“I love you too Issei.”

tw: the usual blood and cuts visuals
Chapter 7: Turn Back Time
Reader’s POV
A crescent moon lit up the night sky and the grass remained damp from the recent storm, crickets and frogs sang nearby. The wet, muddy terrain on the hill worked my calves as well as ruined my shoes. My escort finally dropped me off at the stones. Though I know it's odd dropping a strange woman off at a landmark in the middle of the night, he never asked any questions. The atmosphere was dark and cold, part of me felt scared to go back. There is always the chance that the stones could send me to the wrong time period, or even further back. I found love here, and even friends of my own. At least what I thought was love, even if the feelings were not mutual. How could someone so sweet and loving towards me flip within an instant. I questioned if I truly knew Eivor at all in the time I spent here.
Everything changed through the years, but the stones remained the same. Unchanged by any shape or form of mankind. People have come and have gone as they have sat and watched patiently. I wonder whether people have even noticed my absence and how I would explain where I was. It's difficult bearing the truth but having no one to tell it to otherwise I’d be deemed insane. I was back where my journey started, in the same spot engulfed by the tall rocks around me. The standing stone I had touched previously stood directly in front of me. However, I couldn’t bring myself to touch it as if a magnetic force was pulling me away. My name echoed in the distance from a voice I could recognize no matter how far.
Eivor stepped down from her horse with caution and let out a groan. Her knees appeared weak as she stumbled towards me and her voice dry and tired. I still felt anger towards her and wondered why she didn't just apologize earlier.
“Y/n, wait!”
“Why, Eivor?”
“Im sorry, I’m drunk and I can't think right now. Please, forgive my harsh words… You deserve more than what I can offer you. So I…”
She paused and placed her hand on her stomach before dropping to her knees. I quickly moved her hand and lifted her undershirt to reveal she had been wounded. Though I’m not an expert, It was clear to see the wound was deadly. Eivor reached her hand outwards towards me for support. I screamed out her name whilst the anger in my body was now replaced with fear.
“Eivor, get up!”
She could hardly keep her eyes open and her body refused to stand up. For once, I had no time to think of what to do next. Running on pure adrenaline, I reached behind her and grabbed underneath her arms in an attempt to drag her but she was too heavy. My panicking only worsened from that point forward.
“Eivor, I need you to help me please… Just for a moment.”
Her eyes flickered with what little fight she had left in her body. I placed her arms around my neck, holding her wrist. This allowed her to place less of her body weight on me as I led her to the stone. She groaned in pain and could barely support herself. I quickly pulled her free hand onto the stone alone with mine.
This is the only way…
Eivor’s POV
Consciousness started to return to me as a bright light shined in my eye, I could make out the voices of other people around me. Everything was colorless, only white. For a moment, I truly thought I had died. I looked up to strange sounds coming from a machine that had cords hooked up to various parts of my body. Men and women wearing white coats surrounded me and they seemed to somehow know my name. I sat up to get a better view of my surroundings and my jaw dropped, unable to fix the frown on my face. I began to tug and pull out the lines connected to me and a woman advised me to stop.
“Where am I? Who are you people?”
“This is a hospital and we’re trying to help you. I need you to lay back down.”
The lights around me were so bright and everything so foreign, I felt genuine fear forming in my body. They mumbled towards one another, words I could not make any sense of. The woman in front of me started to fidget with a set of tools near my bed until I grabbed onto her wrist and she flinched. She squirmed and tried to pull my hand off before I finally released her.
“Tell me where y/n is… Please.”
“She's waiting for you outside… Doctor, she's moving too much she needs to be put back to sleep.”
What does she mean put back to sleep?
Before any further thoughts could form I felt a pinch in my arm and my eyes started to grow heavy. I could not fight my drowsiness so I succumbed to it.
Readers POV
I waited outside Eivor’s room anxiously. Thankfully, I had been placed in the exact same time period I had left. Nothing changed and I knew no questions would be plastered onto me by anyone I know. The door to Eivor’s room opened and a doctor greeted me, papers in his hands of x-rays and tests. He was a tall freckled man with thick brown hair and his glasses kept falling from the bridge of his nose. I stood up to shake his hand and waited for him to tell me any news of her.
“So, the wound has been disinfected and is ready for proper healing. We’ve done a few tests on her brain activity and everything is functioning normal. However, she has multiple scars all over her body. They look to be battle scars, oddly enough. I understand you tell me she’s a new friend of yours but do you know anything else about her life?”
“All I know is that her life has been a rough one… Now, when can she be released?”
“Soon. She’s very confused right now, unaware of her surroundings. Perhaps, once she's awake you can help jog her memory.”
“Could I at least see her now?”
“I’m assuming you’re not family therefore, I can't allow that. Leave your number and we’ll let you know when she’s ready to be brought home.”
I jotted down my number with the black-ink pen the doctor gave me. He told me she needs to be aware of her surroundings before any further stimulation. Even if the doctor seemed suspicious, they know only so little. I felt bad on the walk to my car, I didn’t wanna leave her all alone there but there was nothing I could do about It. I feared she would be angry with me once I picked her up. I started up my car and pulled out of the driveway, the rain trickled onto the front of my window and I turned on my windshield wipers. The drive back home was somewhat rejuvenating, being back relaxed me, I didn’t have to witness war and blood every second of the day.
I neared the driveway of my parking lot and pulled in. On the passenger seat my keys laid, I grabbed them and shut the car door. When I unlocked the front door to my apartment everything remained just as It was before, like nothing changed. My cat greeted me with a meow and I replied back with a scratch on her neck before making sure her food bowl was filled. I missed my life entirely, though I hadn’t been gone terribly long, a feeling of deja vu still resonated within me. The night would be long as I waited for my phone to go off. I turned the television on in my living room and kicked back, my cat laying next to me.
Just like old times...
Traveling through time seems to tire me, so I laid back and let my mind drift away.
Eivor’s POV
I awoke from my practically forced sleep. I knew my journey to her would bring me here, to her strange world. Some more clothes would have brought me more comfort rather than this sheet they have me in. My wound was healing nicely, the pain of it wearing away though still sore. Some good ale would help me endure this. The nurses treated me well, making me regret how aggressive I had been in the beginning. My knowledge of the world around me made them suspicious but they knew I was fully responsive. We discussed my release, and they gave me news that I should get ready to go home. One of the nurses placed a bag on the chair next to my bed.
“Your friend left some clothes for you to change into when she left.”
A simple shirt and pants, strange material though. Surely, for such an advanced time I would have thought the clothing would be more complex instead, It was rather minimalist. The shirt fit rather snug but the pants were fine and felt comfortable. No one bared any weapons or armor, I felt nude without anything to defend myself with. Everyone seemed content and relaxed, I envied the people around me and the sheltered lives they had always lived. They walked around completely oblivious, and so did I. The concept was foreign but trying to fit in with the people around me was easy, just act like everything is okay. I heard a knock on the door once I finished dressing and the doctor came in to consult with me. He shook my hand and smiled.
“Hello, Eivor. Your wound is healing wonderfully. How are you feeling?”
“Better than I was.”
“The severity of your wound was extreme, even I’m surprised you made it… Your scars, how did you get them? If you don't mind me asking.”
I threw my hands up in the air trying to spare some time, my voice became soft.
“Oh, you know. Used to be a troublemaker, got into some bad fights.”
“I assume you're still troublemaking since that wound is fresh.”
“This one was an.... accident.”
Reader’s POV
The familiar sound of my phone started to ring. I knocked out so hard, I’m not even sure what time it is. I wiped the corners of my mouth before clearing my throat, the hospital was calling me. Anxiously, I answered the call and It was the doctor I had spoken to prior. Finally, I can pick her up from the hospital. I never got up quicker, throwing on some clean clothes and grabbing my keys on the way out the door. I whipped out of the driveway and headed towards Eivor, I think I may have even been speeding. Upon arrival I made my way to the desk to check into Eivor’s room. I took the elevator and pressed the floor number I needed to go to. Ugh, I hate the smell of hospitals. Disinfectants and chemicals everywhere, yet the taste of nothingness in the air at the same time. I found myself at her room door, and knocked to make sure she was ready for my entrance. The door handle twisted and opened swiftly, my heart began to beat faster when I saw the way she looked at me. I wrapped my arms around her neck and gave her a warm embrace.
“I’m so sorry It happened this way. We’ll get you back, I promise.”
“There’s no need for apologies, you saved my life. These people saved my life, there would be no going back home if it wasn’t for your quick thinking. I will admit for the first time there is true fear in my body for what lies out there.”
I chuckled, sure enough she had the look of fear in her eyes.
“Eivor, there’s nothing to be scared of. Come on, let me show you my home. Oh, I just picked the shirt and pants out real quick, sorry if the fit is wrong. We’re going shopping as soon as possible...”
Eivor looked overwhelmed, perhaps the bright lighting and a bustling hospital was a lot to handle for her. We stepped in the elevator and made our way down, the buttons and how we dropped seemed to fascinate her. When we got outside to the parking lot she was surprised to see all the cars moving fast, faster than any horse could go. When we got to my car I made a short, “ta-da!” movement with my hands.
“This is my humble stallion, she takes me wherever I like.”
Behold, my silver car. A few years dated but in almost pristine condition, I seemed quite proud of myself somehow. I opened the door for her and had to remind her to tilt her head down when entering.
“More of those…”
She pointed at the numbers in my car.
“They're called buttons, love.”
I turned the volume dial on my car and played some tunes. The surprised expression on her face when she heard what we consider music, we shared a look before smiling and laughing at each other. The moment was short when she ran her fingers over the functions, the radio station changing repeatedly and the heater kicking on and off… Like a child in a candy shop, touching everything in sight. Though I was trying to contain my laughter, her face remained serious and extremely focused. I got on the road to go back home, making sure to play some of my favorite songs for her entertainment.

All outfit descriptions for Annabeth Chase
hi i'm weird so i decided to reread all of the books in which annabeth appears to transcript all the times her clothes and items are described.
i hope this can help someone out there in some way, like drawing her!
Observation: I might have skipped something
Percy Jackson and the Olympians
The Lightning Thief
“From under the collar of her T-shirt she pulled a leather necklace with five clay beads of different colors. It was just like Luke's, except Annabeth's also had a big gold ring strung on it, like a college ring.”
“The air shimmered, and she materialized, holding a Yankees baseball cap as if she'd just taken it off her head.”
“Annabeth became visible, stuffing her Yankees cap into her back pocket.”
“Annabeth was bringing her magic Yankees cap, which she told me had been a twelfth-birthday present from her mom. She carried a book on famous classical architecture, written in Ancient Greek, to read when she got bored, and a long bronze knife, hidden in her shirt sleeve.”
“Her hand crept up to her necklace. She fingered a glazed white bead painted with the image of a pine tree, one of her clay end-of-summer tokens.”
“Annabeth kept worrying at her necklace. She was pinching the gold college ring that hung with the beads.”
“A few minutes later she came out in Waterland flower-print shorts, a big red Waterland T-shirt, and commemorative Waterland surf shoes. A Waterland backpack was slung over her shoulder, obviously stuffed with more goodies.”
“Annabeth rubbed her necklace like she was thinking deep, strategic thoughts.
‘That pine-tree bead’, I said. ‘Is that from your first year?’
She looked. She hadn’t realized what she was doing.
‘Yeah,’ she said. ‘Every August, the counselors pick the most important event of the summer, and they paint it on that year’s bead. I've got Thalia's pine tree, a Greek trireme on fire, a centaur in a prom dress — now that was a weird summer...’
‘And the college ring is your father's?’
‘That's none of your —‘ She stopped herself. ‘Yeah. Yeah, it is.’
‘You don’t have to tell me.’
‘No... it's okay.’ She took a shaky breath. ‘My dad sent it to me folded up in a letter, two summers ago. The ring was, like, his main keepsake from Athena. He wouldn’t have gotten through his doctoral program at Harvard without her...’”
“At the bonfire, the senior counselors awarded the end-of-summer beads (...) The design was pitch black, with a sea-green trident shimmering in the center.”
The Sea of Monsters
“She was wearing jeans and a denim jacket over her orange Camp Half-Blood T-shirt. Her blond hair was pulled back in a bandanna.”
“She had a ragged backpack slung over her shoulder, her baseball cap tucked in her pocket, a bronze knife in her hand, and a wild look in her storm-gray eyes, like she’d just been chased a thousand miles by ghosts.”
“She was wearing a sleeveless silk dress like C.C.'s, only white. Her blond hair was newly washed and combed and braided with gold. Worst of all, she was wearing makeup, which I never thought Annabeth would be caught dead in.”
“She undid the golden braids in her hair.”
“‘S'okay,’ I grunted, though I'd never really wanted to know what Annabeth’s sneaker tasted like.”
“One grabbed Annabeth and Grover by their T-shirt collars.”
The Titan's Curse
“Her blond hair was tucked into a ski cap and her gray eyes were the same color as the ocean.”
“She used to wear no jewelry except for her Camp Half-Blood bead necklace, but now she wore little silver earrings shaped like owls — the symbol of her mother, Athena. She pulled off her ski cap, and her long blond hair tumbled down her shoulders.”
“I thought of some harsh things to say, and I might've said them too, but then I looked down and saw something navy blue lying in the snow at my feet. Annabeth's New York Yankees baseball cap.”
The Battle of the Labyrinth
“She was wearing jeans and an orange camp T-shirt and her clay bead necklace. Her blond hair was pulled back in a ponytail.”
“He slung a leather satchel off his back, unzipped it, and produced a sleek silver laptop computer — one of the ones I'd seen in the workshop. On the lid was the blue symbol ∆.”
The Last Olympian
“It's not that she tried to look good. We'd been doing so many combat missions lately, she hardly brushed her curly blond hair anymore, and she didn't care what clothes she was wearing — usually the same old orange camp T-shirt and jeans, and once in a while her bronze armor.”
“He brought out a bronze shield and passed it to Annabeth. It looked pretty much standard issue — the same kind of round shield we always used in capture the flag. But when Annabeth set it on the ground, the reflection on the polished metal changed from sky and buildings to the Statue of Liberty — which wasn't anywhere near us.
‘Whoa,’ I said. ‘A video shield.’”
“My brain started seizing on little random details, like the fact that she was still wearing those silver owl earrings from her dad, who was this brainiac military history professor in San Francisco.”
“She wore her orange camp T-shirt and jeans. Her hair was tucked up in her Yankees cap, which was strange because that should have made her invisible.”
“She was dressed in black camouflage with her Celestial bronze knife strapped to her arm and her laptop bag slung over her shoulder — ready for stabbing or surfing the Internet, whichever came first.”
“The girl had tangled blond hair and was wearing flannel pajamas.”
“Annabeth was wearing new clothes — jeans and an oversize army jacket.”
“She had pulled her owl helmet low over her face, but I could tell her eyes were red.”
“Kronos whirled to face her and slashed with Backbiter, but somehow Annabeth caught the strike on her dagger hilt.”
The Demigod Files: Percy Jackson and the Bronze Dragon
“She bumped me with her shoulder, which I guess was supposed to be friendly, but she was wearing full greek armor, so it kind of hurt. Her gray eyes sparkled under her helmet. Her blond ponytail curled around one shoulder. It was hard for anyone to look cute in combat armor, but Annabeth pulled it off.”
The Demigod Files
The Heroes of Olympus
The Lost Hero
“Two teenagers stood in the chariot — a tall blond girl maybe a little older than Jason, and a bulky dude with a shaved head and a face like a pile of bricks. They both wore jeans and orange T-shirts, with shields tossed over their backs. The girl leaped off before the chariot had even finished moving. She pulled a knife and ran toward Jason's group while the bulky dude was reining in the horses.”
The Mark of Athena
“She took out her camp necklace, strung with her dad’s college ring and a colorful clay bead for each year at Camp Half-Blood. Now there was something else on the leather cord: a red coral pendant Percy had given her when they had started dating. He'd brought it from his father's palace at the bottom of the sea.”
The House of Hades
“She'd tied her blonde hair back with a strip of denim torn from her jeans, and in the fiery light of the river her grey eyes flickered. Despite being beat-up, sooty and dressed like a homeless person, she looked great to Percy.”
“In his massive hand, the white shard looked like another toothpick, but when he offered it to Annabeth she realized it was a sword – a blade of dragon bone, honed to a deadly edge, with a simple grip of leather.”
The Blood of Olympus
“Piper and Annabeth were disguised as lovely Greek serving maidens. Even in their white sleeveless gowns and laced sandals, they had no trouble navigating the rocky path.”
“She looked uncomfortable in her serving-maiden outfit. She kept hunching her shoulders to keep the dress from slipping. Her pinned-up blonde bun had come undone in the back and her hair dangled like long spider legs.”
“Annabeth slung her own amphora off her shoulder. She, too, had a concealed sword, but even without a visible weapon she looked deadly.”
“Annabeth re-adjusted her golden belt.”
“She ripped through her supply pouch and unwrapped a piece of godly food.”
“She fingered the red coral pendant on her necklace – a gift from Percy when they started dating.”
The Demigod Diaries: The Diary of Luke Castellan

【Your new boyfriend- Day 1】
Word count: 6.2k+
【December 25, 2020】
【2:39 am】 Nearing the end of the seemingly indestructible health bar of this stupid resurgent cryo regisvene, Changbin lets out an audible growl, tapping furiously, almost murderously at his phone screen. “Cmonnnn you persistent piece of shit, just bite the dust already like the normal one...” His voice trails off as every drip of focus is directed back on his game.
“Which one do you think it is this time Seungmin?” Jisung taunts from the kitchen of the shared apartment, watching the coffee drip into his cup from the ancient coffee machine at a snail’s pace (He had been insisting on having Changbin get a new one for the past three, four months but the latter had been persistent to keep it instead of “wasting money on a new one”). Seungmin yells from inside his room, the sound of keyboard clicking along with the occasional growling and mumbling exposing what he was doing- League of Legends. “You think I would know? I don’t even know the game he’s playing.” “He’s been at it for the past three days Seungmin, it’s obviously the same ice thing he won’t shut up about.” Minho deadpans, tenderly lowering the three cats in his arms onto the couch. “Now my babies, don’t touch the madman next to you, or I’m going to have to do the dishes tonight, kay? He’s our main dishwasher, let’s not try anything funny.” The three cats collectively look up at their owner as he cooes softly at the felines. With the last of his party completely obliterated, Changbin throws his phone across the couch, startling the cats as they jump off hastily, earning a piercing glare from Minho. “We’ll talk about this later, Seo Changbin.” “My god, I give up, I’ll just get Chan hyung to do it for me tomorrow.” What even went through Mihoyo headquarters when they created this boss? Did the development department just decide to throw everything into one giant boss fight?
As he wallows in defeat, his ringtone blares where it sadly lies from being thrown across the couch, the annoying “We just got a letter!” song from Blue’s Clues (He had a feeling that the annoying children’s song would aid in motivating him to actually pick the phone up instead of ignoring people then texting them out of sluggishness) playing on loop the longer he chooses not to answer. “Will you just shut up?” Aggressively snatching his phone, he takes a quick glance at the caller, before picking up. “(Y/n), what do you wan-”
A few audible sniffles can be heard from the other side of the line.
“Changbinnie, he cheated on me.”
Changbin deadpans, not sure he’s hearing things right.
“Hello? Binnie?”
The words hitting him like a truck, he bolts up from where he once sat, hand gripping the phone so hard veins were popping.
“That motherfucker did what?”
His voice rings clear throughout the unit, both Jisung and Minho flinching at the sudden burst of noise. “Jesus Christ keep it down Changbin, the whole apartment complex can hear your annoying voice.” Minho complains, picking up one of his dear cats and stroking its ears. “Soonie ah, that idiot’s yell didn’t hurt your ears did it? Aigoo my baby, it’s okay, it was just stupid horse-faced Changbin, it’s okay my baby boo...” Jisung rolls his eyes, taking a sip from his pitch black coffee. Wincing, he sets the mug down, running to the fridge to get creamer. “Changbin hyung, did you get the wrong creamer again? I told you to get the vanilla one, this one’s dairy free!” Changbin lowers his phone, covering the speaker. “Why the fuck are you even drinking coffee at this hour? Go buy your own fucking creamer if you want it so much then!” “I’m broke hyung! Plus the campus convenience store and the supermarket are closed already, use your pea brain!” “Use milk and sugar Jisung! I’m busy!” Returning to the call, he makes his way into his room, not wanting to have to deal with the two parasites outside. “Tell me everything (Y/n), oh he’s bruising for a cruising playing with your feelings like that-”
A sob passes through the speaker.
“I was just trying to check on him-”
“Scratch that, I’ll be there in twenty, don’t do anything stupid by yourself.”
Shoving the door of his room out of his way, he storms towards the three refrigerators in the kitchen, the other three people in the unit following him in sight (Seungmin heard the commotion and decided to come out of his man cave for once to assess the situation). He pushes Jisung to the side, pulling open the doors to the biggest one. “Soju... soju... soju... there it is.” He untangles the biggest plastic bag he can find from the huge bag on top of the fridge (Minho seems to collect plastic bags at this point, it’s getting annoying) and shoves just about all the bottles of soju he can fit into the flimsy piece of plastic. Moving on to the next fridge, he slams the previous one close, startling Jisung. “Hyung, are you okay?” Changbin ignores him, scrambling to grab the two family sized tubs of ice cream. “Hyung, that’s the last of our ice cream-” Yet again ignoring Jisung’s complaint, he makes his way to the pantry, throwing in the most tooth rottingly sweet candies he can find, a few bags of those honey butter chips and all of Jisung’s cup ramens. In the past couple of minutes, Seungmin had picked up on the situation on hand. He whisper yells at Jisung, making weird gestures to catch his attention. Once his eyes meet Jisungs’s, he frantically jerks his head towards the rooms (It’s like some secret bro code the two have). Jisung picks up on the message, shutting up and shuffling to his room along with Seungmin, before locking their bedroom doors. After his expedition in the kitchen, Changbin goes back to his room, just to grab a duffel bag to put everything in. He takes his switch and the dock, his laptop, and throws his phone into the mix (Both Jisung and Minho agree that Changbin needs to stop abusing his phone, Seungmin doesn’t really care). The only one left in the living room watches as he angrily puts his shoes on, and slams the front door just a little too aggressively as he goes. Hearing the front door close, the two younger boys come out of hiding, finally safe from their scarily furious friend. “My cup noodles... Minho hyung my cup noodles....” “Let’s just wait for him to buy them for us again, leave him alone for now.”
【3:00 am】 It’s been exactly 21 minutes since you had called Changbin and he is now furiously knocking at your door because 1) You need moral support, clearly, 2) He didn’t bring all the food and risk getting the life nagged out of him when he goes back for nothing, and 3) Your ex boyfriend’s new chick is about to receive a very explicit call from a very angry person. “Oi (Y/n), it’s Changbin, open up.” From inside, you wrap your Armin futon throw blanket around your tired body, before waddling to the front door to your apartment. Gripping the blanket together with one hand, you twist the doorknob with the other and pull. It’s almost like one of those slot machines you would always see in dramas. You pull the lever with all the might you can muster during this trying time and BAM! You hit the jackpot and an angry Changbin comes into sight. He looks scary, almost. His demeanor could probably kill right now if you didn’t know better. “Come in... yeah come on in....” His hand loosens around the duffel bag, dropping it on the floor while he gets his shoes off. You penguin waddle back to where you were sitting on the couch, picking up the crumpled tissues and throwing them out. “Make yourself at home.” You feel a stare burn into your back as you step off the bin pedal. “I’m here, now tell me everything that happened with this asshole.”
“So what I’m getting from this is that Junwoo fucker said he was going out to get groceries, which was a lie at that time but you didn’t know. He took a suspiciously long time so you, being the paranoid ass person you are, went to check on him, only to see him making out with some hussey that wouldn’t stop making moves on him during that dumb lecture you had in the afternoon, correct?” You nod, tears starting to form again for the fourth- no, was it the fifth? About the fifth time in the past minute or so that you spent explaining the situation. “(Y/n), sweetie, I’m gonna need the name of the hussey.” “No, you’re going to do something stupid.” “I wasn’t asking, give it.” You give Changbin a stink eye, acting like you were completely against whatever he has in mind despite actually being curious to see what he has planned (An angry Changbin is a scary Changbin but a rare one also). “It’s Jimin from the dance team.” His mouth hangs open in disbelief. “No, he did NOT!” You nod solemnly, sniffing. "He cheated on you for that slut?” “Binnie! That’s rude!” “Oh please, I don’t like to disrespect women but you know that it’s true.” That shuts you up instantly. He’s not wrong, so far she’s been caught up in the middle of way too many relationships to count. She’s pretty much notorious for sleeping with people’s boyfriends now. Horrid, really, she knows what she’s doing and she enjoys it. Changbin practically rips the zipper off his duffel bag and snatches his poor, abused phone, before scrolling through his contacts to find Jimin (He would delete her contact from his phone if he could, really. He’s tried, but she hit on him so hard on campus as a threat that he kept it just to be safe. Quite honestly though, he doesn’t really care now). “Binnie, no-” He puts the call on speaker, his feet tapping at the floor impatiently. “Bitch, you better pick up before I find you and pick it up for you-”
“Hello?”
His face lights up when he hears Jimin’s voice from the other side of the line. “Oh yeah hi! Here’s your friendly Changbin reminder that your new boyfriend’s an asshole!” You can almost see the sneer that Jimin has on her face. “Uh, and who are you to say that? Twink.” Your mind doesn’t even let you properly process what she said because Changbin’s already retaliating. “Oh, you know, just from his ex partner he was cheating on, but you can state your arguments if you’d like. Also that wasn’t very nice, calling me a twink, considering you hit on me every day on campus.” Changbin’s aura goes borderline murderous when a chuckle sounds from the speaker. “Oh? Them? He could do better anyways.” “Okay listen here you little slut, I’m gonna be honest with you, because no one ever will. Any guy that says they’re in any way interested in you beyond just using you as a fuck toy, is full of bullshi-”
You slam your finger onto the big red button before he can say anything more.
Changbin’s seething with anger, even though he isn’t showing it. You know that because 1) He’s oddly calm in this situation and 2) He just openly called one of the most known people in the college a slut. “Seo Changbin, calm yourself down. Please.” Those were some harsh words he said to Jimin, it was completely out of his usually good natured, well spoken character. He closes his eyes, taking a few deep breaths, before grabbing a flimsy white plastic bag out from the duffel bag. He shoots his hand to the bottom, grabbing one of the 15 bottles of soju he brought over. He wrenches open the bottle cap, before chugging half the bottle in one sitting. “How much stuff did you bring?” Changbin really is oddly stable considering he had just gotten called a twink and went off at someone through the phone. “About 15 bottles of soju, two tubs of ice cream, a few bags of those honey butter chips, all the cup ramens in the pantry, and a bunch of those Hi-Chews that I know you love because you keep taking them from me and eating them in class.” He grabs another bottle of soju from the plastic bag, as well as a pack of Hi-Chews. “Drink?” You sulk, taking the green bottle from him while he rips open a pack of candies, popping one in his mouth. “Damn, on Christmas day too, what an ass, Junwoo.” You roll your eyes, taking in a mouthful of alcohol from the bottle. “You’re so stupid Binnie, she’s going to ruin your life because of that stupid call.” “Me? Stupid? The only stupid thing here is you managing to stay with Junwoo for an entire year. I knew he was toxic from the start. Besides, what’s Jimin going to do? She’s got nothing on me. I might as well be the only person that hasn’t sent her nudes or something.”
It sounds harsh, almost mean, but you know that he’s not lying. Your ex boyfriend was the most toxic, manipulative person you’ve ever been with yet you stayed with him for over a year, it’s unbelievable, really.
“Can I take a cup ramen?” Changbin doesn’t even spare a glance at you, he’s typing away on his phone (Looks like the nagging has started, one could never expect no complaints after taking all the comfort food from the kitchen). “No, you can’t. I brought all this food because it’s three in the morning and I suddenly want to eat at your house. Of course you can, this is about you, do whatever you want.” You grab one of the cups from the bag, before sluggishly making your way to the kitchen to boil water. Seeing that you left your seat, Changbin empties out the plastic bag, before discarding all the rubbish that you left behind prior to his arrival. Tissues, boxes, chocolate wrappers, everything, he throws them all into the white bag. “That should do.” Ripping open a pack of honey butter chips (Minho needs to chill out about him taking a few packs considering he bulk bought these in boxes. One pack won’t hurt), he takes one, before setting it down and waiting for you to return.
Meanwhile, the remaining three in Changbin’s apartment have just received a reply. “Hey... hey hEY HEY WE GOT A TEXT BACK EVERYONE!” Both Seungmin and Minho gather around Jisung and his phone. “Changbin hyung says he’s not coming back tonight and that he’ll restock the food he took when he’s back, what do we do?” The two young ones look expectantly at Minho, as if he would have any good advice. “I don’t know, should I give him a call-” “Are you mad? He’s going to tear you to shreds hyung, don’t waste your life like that!” Minho sighs in exasperation. “Then we’ll just have to wait for him to be back.” Seungmin and Jisung look to the floor almost guiltily. “He won’t even tell us what happened... how are we supposed to do anything about it?” “You don’t, that’s what you do, you don’t do anything about it until he calms down and tells us about it. Now Seungmin, stop playing your games and Jisung, stop doing solo karaoke and go to sleep.”
【5:58 am】 “This is going to be the first and last night you get to be this unhealthy, we’re using healthy coping mechanisms instead of… whatever the fuck this is.” You look at him, a mouthful of ramen hanging from your food vacuum as you slurp it up loudly (For context, you’ve managed to go through four cup ramens, two bags of chips, a pack of Hi-Chews, and an additional three bottles of soju to wash it all down. The two tubs of ice cream remain untouched in the freezer. In other words, you were binge eating, all while being shit faced drunk). The TV blares from in the front of the living room, the Mario Kart theme playing on loop. Your controller sits on the coffee table, completely unattended as you get busy with eating. “Haaaaah? I need the junk food Binnie, it’s all a part of recovery!” Changbin clicks his tongue, before flicking your forehead. “That’s just a shitty excuse to be unhealthy, we don’t stan that.” Frowning, you snatch a few chips with your chopsticks and shove them in your mouth grumpily. “Now, where were we... ah! Yeah! Prepare for another devastating loss Binnie! You shall not come out victorious!” (Cmon, you really think you could beat Changbin in Mario Kart drunk? Hunny, he was losing on purpose.) He lets out a breathy chuckle, before picking you up bridal style, walking to your room, and throwing you onto your bed. “That’s about enough for now, go to sleep. I already know your hangover tomorrow’s going to be absolutely horrible.” You whine, tossing and turning. “But I don’t wanna go to sleeeeeeep... I wanna win again... I wanna playyyyy... gamess....” And with that your voice trails off. “Idiot, you would just pass out halfway.” He closes the door behind him as he leaves your room, but not before gently releasing the console from your warm, clammy hands. Coming to terms with what he has to do next, Changbin massages his neck when he sees the absolute mess of a living room. “Now, where do we start?” All the homework and study cramming is about to come in handy as he starts to clean up all the rubbish left sitting around. He sets his eyes on your pink blanket. It’s 2°C out, his nose is prickly and red as he sneezes, and he still quickly notices an alcoholic smell wafting out from the pink throw blanket. Reaching over to feel it, the fabric is slightly damp under his touch. “Jesus Christ, you for sure spilled soju over this thing. Tag... tag... tag....” his hand roams around the thick blanket, feeling for a laundry tag. He whips his phone out, searching for a laundry care symbol guide (It’s been a while since he’s done laundry properly. Seungmin is in charge of doing everyone’s laundry since he contributes the least). “40°C water at the highest, tumble dry on low.... alright.” He bunches up the blanket, the fabric hanging to the floor from his arms. Trying to get to the laundry room hurriedly, he almost trips over the soft material, stomping on the floor obnoxiously loud to regain his balance (The neighbours are going to seriously hate him for this). He throws it into the washing machine and slams the compartment door shut. Scanning the room for detergent, he deadpans when he sees where it’s located. “Why would you put it that high up in the shelf? You’re not even that tall-” He tries everything, from standing on his tiptoes, to jumping in order to reach it. All those attempts end in vain, and he resorts to his final trick- climbing on top of the washing machine. “Cmon, just a feeeew more millimeters-” The dust from the top of the cabinet along with the temperature causes him to sneeze profusely, almost losing his balance. But with a hook of his fingers, he manages to push the bottle out, before grabbing it and using the bottle to push another bottle of dettol out. He wrenches open the lids, before clumsily pouring out the needed amounts, but not without spilling it on the floor. Cursing, he quickly sets the washing machine for a one hour cycle. He then grabs a random towel from on top of the machine and wipes the floor now. “I guess it’s squeaky clean now, you did good Changbin, you did good. Go me.” With one job done, he makes his way back to the living room. The main area is so messy that Changbin has to form a proper plan on how to clean everything up with the highest efficiency. He grabs the ramen cups, draining out the soup and throwing them out. The chopsticks clank together when they hit the kitchen sink as he turns the tap on. He grabs a sponge, soaking it in water and squeezing detergent onto it, before scrubbing the chopsticks clean. With the dishwashing done, he staggers his way towards the coffee table. He’s tired. He’s so fucking tired that his eyes are about to betray his mind. His arms are numb and the floor is wobbling from beneath his feet. He sneezes a few more times, sniffling. He sighs, wiping his nose and warming it up with the sleeve of his hoodie. If anyone pushes him with a bit of effort, he’ll probably fall over and pass out, but he absolutely refuses to let you wake up to a messy living room. He makes use of the vibrant Mario Kart podium segment still blaring on the TV to keep himself awake while he works on cleaning everything up. Seeing that the sky has progressed from pitch black to a beautiful, yet dreadful shade of aegean blue, he’s pretty sure he won’t be getting any sleep any time soon.
【7:47 am】 You cough yourself awake to the burning stench of smoke. The world really said “Lol your life is burning and crumbling down” and took it a little too seriously. Fire, fire, fire, what’s the worst that could happen? Fire needs to give itself a vibe check, can’t it see that you don’t have the energy to deal with it right now? You squeeze your brows together and pull your sheets back over your body. If not for the panicked yelling from outside you would’ve stayed in bed and just waited for whatever fire was burning to reach your room. Hearing Changbin’s chain of swears and curses, you shoot up, more worried for him than for yourself. “CHANGBIN!” You get no reply. You’re horrified, probably both from the hangover working its magic at making you more paranoid and sensitive than you already are, and the possibility that the apartment’s going to burn down. You scramble to the kitchen, choking when you reach the hallway. The amount of smokiness in the living room makes it impossible to see anything clearly. One thing is for sure- there is no fire. What there is though, is a very startled Changbin squatting next to a tray of what looks like charcoal.
“Binnie, what the fuck did you do?”
Poor boy, he looks like a lost puppy, a small pout evident on his face. “I was trying to make you breakfast, but I think I set the oven to the wrong temperature, turns out it doesn’t take that much heat to toast bread.” Pinching your nose, you take a glance at the oven. “Changbin I- why is it set to 250 degrees?” “I just told you, I don’t think toast needs that much heat!” It’s almost funny how bad he fucked up. You would laugh wholeheartedly if not for the borderline deadly amount of smoke wafting around your apartment. “Changbin, I have a toaster.” “I don’t know how to use it though, it’s too digital and it makes weird noises.” You let out an exasperated sigh (You knew getting a digital toaster was eventually going to lead to some problems), taking the tray out from the oven and discarding the two pieces of what used to be toast. “Binnie, do me a favour and go open up the windows.” Hearing his cue to leave the crime scene, he rushes to the other side of the living room, opening everything up. “It’s been 84 years... fresh air, hello....” You let out a sarcastic chuckle, before throwing out the piece of foil on the tray. You scan your surroundings, everything is in place, the apartment is squeaky clean, your futon is on a drying rack outside on the balcony, and that’s when it hits you. “Changbin, if you tell me you didn’t get any sleep cleaning my place up for me, I will knock you out here and now.” You speed walk towards him faster than Karen walks to the manager, before taking in his features. His eyebags are heavier and darker than usual, his face is pale, his hair is a mess, his eyes focus on nothing in silence. “Seo Changbin!” You snap in front of his face, startling him out of his trancelike state. “Huh? I swear I’m okay, don’t even worry.” His voice is hoarse and nasally, and he sneezes a few times after his statement, sniffling and wiping his nose with his sleeve for the second time this day. You don’t even give him time to move away or protest. Your fingers pinch his ear at the speed of light, before pulling him to your room and practically shoving him onto your bed. “Sleep.” Changbin pouts, curling into a ball. “But I don’t need to sleep! I’m perfectly fine-” “No, you’re not, you almost burned my apartment down messing with the oven tired, sleep.” You don’t wait for a response as you slam the lights off and shut the bedroom door.
【2:23 pm】It’s been about seven hours since you practically forced Changbin to sleep, the ending of the final episode of Death Parade reminding you of the time that has passed. “He’s still not up?” Mumbling to yourself, you creak the door to your room open, being as silent as possible. “Changbin?” No reply. The covers don’t even budge the slightest bit. You are so taking a photo of his sleeping face for future uses. The second you pull your phone out, it starts ringing, the recording of Jisung’s impression of Changbin’s iconic “Yoooooh” blaring through the speakers like a concert (The two of you snuck into one of his music project recording sessions without him knowing, music major things am I right). You throw yourself out of the room, picking the phone up. “Hello-” “(Y/n)!” Dear God it’s Jisung, loud as ever. “Where’s Changbin hyung?” Of course he didn’t tell them anything. “He’s here, asleep, I forced him to sleep.” “Okay, when he wakes up tell him that he owes us everything he took from the pantry, and that he should come home, thanks!” “Wait-” And that little shit hangs up on you just like that. You place your phone onto the coffee table, before going back to check on Changbin. Scratch the idea of a photo, you’ll just do it next time. You kneel down next to your bed, placing your palm on his forehead. “You idiot, thank God you didn’t cook and get me sick along with you.” Being a medical science major, you never overlook anybody’s wellbeing, especially not your best friend’s. When you feel his burning forehead, you almost slap him in his sleep. He’s in for it when he eventually wakes up. Trying your best, you pull the blanket out from underneath him (He fell asleep pretty much straight after you shoved him onto the bed). He stirs, mumbling softly. “Where... where am I...? Who... am... I...? Who are... you?” You scrunch your face up, finally ripping the blanket from underneath him. Working quickly, you throw it over him, before turning on the heat setting for the aircon in your room. Doesn’t look like he’s going to wake up anytime soon, he looks like a sleeping baby. Motionless and oddly talkative and soft. In the meantime, you might as well go read over the old messages with Junwoo and cry a little more.
【4:58 pm】 It’s been another two hours, your eyes are puffy and red from the crying, Changbin still hasn’t woken up yet. You pick up the ramen cup and drag yourself forcefully from the couch to the kitchen, throwing the soup out along with the cup, and reaching up to find the paracetamol and fever relief patches (Which you bought five packs of at a time for a great buy three get two free deal) from the box of first aid and medical essentials. Taking it out of the box, you keep it in your pocket, just in case. You make your way to your room, opening up your cabinet and grabbing your car keys. You shove those into your pocket as well, before peeling off the wrapper of a fever relief patch and sticking that flat on Changbin’s forehead. You throw on a trenchcoat to cover up the fact that you’re wearing a pyjama shirt with tights, get your boots on, and head over to Jisung’s place.
【5:17 pm】“Jisung! Let me in!” You rap at their door until your knuckles hurt and a slightly concerned Minho pulls it open, his three cats following their owner and rubbing their cute little cheeks on your leg. “Oh, it’s you. Come on in, Jisung’s not here, what do you need?” “I just need to grab clothes for Changbin, he won’t stop wiping his nose on his sleeve, it’s gross, and he needs a shower.” “Go ahead.” Shooting Minho a quick thanks, you run into Changbin’s room, rummaging through his drawers and cabinets. For someone with a major obsession with hoodies, he sure doesn’t have many. You randomly grab a pair of sweats, along with a tshirt and the thickest hoodie you can find, before you drop the clothes, letting out a funny sound of embarrassment. “Fuck, Minho!”
【5:39 pm】It’s warm. It’s really warm, in contrast to how Changbin remembers feeling the last time he was awake. What time even is it? He doesn’t have his phone, and he notices that it’s starting to go dark out, looks about 6pm for the typical Korean winter... and the sound of running water? He kicks the blanket off of him (which he doesn’t remember covering himself with), and is welcomed by an oddly warm room for 2°C weather. Did you manage to throw the blanket over him and turn the heater on at some point when he was asleep? A lump forms at his throat at the thought, a tiny smile threatening to show. The light from the bathroom blinds him temporarily when he opens the bedroom door, and as his eyes adjust to the light, he can see you filling up a bathtub with water. “Oh, you’re awake, just in time.” He’s still dazed from the drowsiness as he staggers a little bit into the bathroom. “I got you a change of clothes, underwear and all, and paracetamol there for your fever.” You’re in your trench coat, the one you wouldn’t shut up about after buying, or so he remembers. “Did you go over to mine to get the clothes?” You let out a breathy chuckle, cupping your cheeks sarcastically. “Oh no! I secretly hide a stash of your clothes and underwear in my house! Get in the bath Binnie, I’ll make dinner outside.” He’s hesitant, but as you close the door behind him he can’t help but be welcomed by the bubbly hot bath in front of him.
【6:00 pm】“Did you take the paracetamol I left in there?” You chuckle a little at the towel hanging around his neck. “You look like one of those hardcore grandpas in animes.” You stir the tiny stone pot in front of you, making sure not to splash the red soup onto your shirt. “Yeah, I took the pill, thanks.” From the corner of your eye, you can see Changbin heading towards the kitchen. “Uh uh uh, stop right there buddy. You are not going anywhere near the kitchen, nope. I know you want to help, but I’m almost done, so just sit your ass down at the coffee table.” He does as you say like an obedient little puppy, sitting down at the wooden table. Putting on a pair of oven mitts, you carefully carry the scorching hot pot and a plastic mat to the table, setting it down while the liquid continues bubbling. “Now you can go in and help me grab the rice and bowls.”
Changbin once told you that he would never set his eyes on one of your “stupid japanese cartoons” because apparently they're too immature for a 5′6 college student to watch. That’s complete bullshit. He doesn’t even see the kimchi stew drip onto your coffee table because his eyes are glued to Hunter x Hunter which you coaxed him into watching with you. You scoff, mixing the stew into your rice. “Move your spoon Changbin, it’s dripping all over my table.” He snaps out of his trance, hovering his spoon on top of his rice instead. “Poor Ikalgo, all he wanted was to be a squid and have friends....” “Are you going to eat up or not?” You watch as his hand slowly tilts to let the liquid drip into his rice, his eyes not once leaving the tv screen as he mixes it and shoves a spoonful into his mouth. “Ikalgo... you deserve everything. Absolutely everything.” This is a sight, you take your phone out and snap a pic before he notices. “What happened to anime being too immature for you huh?” “Shut up (Y/n).” He retorts, shoving another heaping spoonful of rice into his mouth. “Are you... about to cry?” Changbin continues to stuff his mouth with food, his cheeks puffing up. “Oh my god you’re crying! You’re crying over an anime!” “No I’m not.” He forces himself to mumble out a disagreement with all that food in his mouth, however his watery eyes completely betray him and say otherwise. You stay silent, smirking at him knowingly. “It’s just Ikalgo deserves so much better, if Killua doesn’t become his friend I’m going to stop watching.” He looks so reluctant to admit it that you start laughing, a snort sounding from your nose. “Called it, you’re getting sentimental over a childish fucking anime!” “I’ll kill you if you tell anyone, Seungmin will never let me live this down.” “Thanks for the idea, idiot.”
【10:42 pm】Sentimental hours are open starting from 10:30pm till whenever your body decides to fall asleep. Poor Changbin has been trying to comfort you since then, yet all has been in vain. “Changbinnie, am I really good enough for anyone then? Am I good enough for someone to just stay with me?” No one likes seeing a pretty girl cry, let alone their best friend being said pretty girl. Seeing you cry pulls on his heartstrings. It angers him to the point where all he wants to do is break Junwoo’s face, yet knowing how you wouldn’t like a fight is the only thing stopping him from going along with his desires. “(Y/n), for the last time, you are more than good enough. Please just listen, he was a douchebag all along, you knew that. He didn’t do this because you weren’t good enough for him, he did this because he was selfish and toxic, at least he’s out of your life for good now.” You slump into the mattress further, Changbin staring at you hopelessly. “You can’t keep this up you know, it’s self destructive.” You try your best to move your eyes towards him, but the angle you’re lying in doesn’t allow for that as you feel the strain in the corner of your eye. “For the record I am very much aware of that, thank you.” You feel a hand on the top of your head, stroking your hair softly. “It’s gonna be okay, you’re better off without him and there’s plenty of fish in the sea anyways.” You turn and toss a little bit, shoving your face into and wrapping your arms around his torso while you sulk (If people didn’t know better, they would mistake the two of you for a couple). Your fingers grazing his body sent warm pinpricks up his spine and feathers in his stomach. Changbin’s hand never leaves your head even as you stop sniffling and the room slowly shifts into a comfortable silence. “How is it that you treat me better than how my ex did so for me?” His eyes leave the phone in his other hand to glance at you empathetically. For a moment, he isn’t the witty, sharp tongued Changbin everyone came to know. He hopes you can’t see the almost devastating look on his face as he smiles pitifully, such vulnerability that he will only ever show towards you. “Anyone could treat you better than that guy.” He doesn’t get a verbal reply, but instead receives a string of soft snores slightly muffled by the fabric of his sweater. Satisfied, he has to pry your arms off of him to reach the lights, turning them off. “Binnie, come backkkkkk...” Freezing in his tracks at your words, he sighs, rolling his eyes in slight amusement. He slips himself in bed next to you, getting comfortable with your arms back around his torso. You mumble a few incoherent words, before dosing back to sleep.
Meanwhile in Changbin’s apartment, Jisung feels a sneeze coming. He braces for the impact, before sneezing once, then twice, then the third time. “Oh my god, it’s happening.” Seungmin side eyes him, giving Jisung a weird look. “Not you with your stupid mind bonds or whatever you call it.” “No I swear, it’s real, three sneezes that’s what I told Changbin hyung would happen if he ever did it.”
Now, the two of you have long since passed out amidst the comfort of your bed. However, let me share you a little secret, You, who were the most reluctant to share your sanctuary with someone else, you’re going to wake up from the best sleep you’ve had in months tomorrow morning.
