I have character questions if that’s okay!

1) do Aymeric and Hali have pet names for each other?

2) who’s the Scion she’s closest to?

3) does she have any pets?

Ohhh yes!! Ask away!! 🥰

1) Yes, they absolutely do have pet names for each other, with the most notable being Aymeric’s name for Hali, “snowdrop”, which is the flower that reminds him of her and it’s the first major gift he ever gave her. Aymeric also sometimes calls her “princess” and “little lady”, which those are used more in a teasing, playful manner.

Hali’s pet name that she has for Aymeric is “Prince Charming”, or just “my prince” for short. This one is because she has always believed that Aymeric is so kind, noble, courageous, dignified, and strikingly beautiful that he must’ve come out of the pages of a faerie tale. Though she absolutely knows that he is a complex person with plenty of flaws and isn’t perfect, she still sometimes doesn’t believe that Aymeric loves her as much as she loves him, and because her dream has come true, she thinks of him as her prince.

2) This is a hard question, as Hali is one who makes friends easily, and she loves all of her fellow Scions as not only friends but as her found family. Though if I were to narrow it down a bit, there’s a few Scions that she’s known much longer than the rest, notably Krile, G’raha, Alphinaud, and Alisaie. So it would be those four who she is closest to, but to narrow it down more would be very difficult, as the twins are like the younger siblings she’s never had, G’raha is her oldest friend that she met not long after he arrived in Sharlayan as a child, and Krile is who she was classmates with at the Studium and she shared her first kiss with her (it was on a dare). So honestly it’s a toss up between those four.

3) Hali absolutely does! She has her pet aligator named Boudreaux that she rescued from the island sanctuary and she takes him everywhere with her as her mount, and a crab named Beignet who keeps Aymeric’s black cat BonBon company at Borel Manor. Here’s pictures of Boudreaux and Beignet:

And I don’t have an in game picture of BonBon yet, but I headcanon that the black coeurl minion is Aymeric’s cat. 🐈‍⬛

I'd like to know about canon mounts and minions for your FFXIV OCs! If you haven't answered that already

THE MOUNTS AND MINION STUFF IS FUN and it's pretty obvious as to who has the most convoluted answer. and that's all down below - I'll cover as many as I can remember :O

Surkie's first "minion" was the coeurl kit, but it's the black coeurl kit with the normal one's story. She rescued both the coeurl kit and the wolf puppy during that one 15 quest in Aleport, but she couldn't take care of the both of them and only took the kit with her - who she named Henri! She genuinely thought this was a boy, she was wrong, that is her baby girl. Henri has traveled with her since the start and has grown up into that dark knight tank mount coeurl, and she follows Surkie around through most of her adventures. Obviously there's stuff she can't join in on so she ends up as a sort of semi-permanent fixture of the Rising Stones, but she also winds up living at the Borel Manor and is a terror upon Aymeric's cat. She's very gentle with Surkie's allies (and yes, her kids too), and is just this big lovebug despite being a huge fucking coeurl. Her first mount was Prompto, her chocobo. He's a big percheron (as in the massive feral ishgardian breed that can carry 2 people) with natural black feathers, and a really nasty attitude. He's about as stubborn as Surkie is and she's gotten into a fair number of verbal arguments with this bird, it's funny. He doesn't see as much travel as he used to due to transporting issues, but he's very well loved regardless. He's very calm around Henri (especially since he's known her since she was a cub + he could very easily do damage back if she tried anything) and they have a routine where Henri plays dead on his back to sneak her through cities. Surkie canonically has Fenrir, as she found him after the events of Azys Lla still alive and recovering from even more wounds than the ones that should have killed him when they went through Snowcloak. Even in spite of what he did to Seraphin, Surkie can't bring herself to put him down since he's one of the last remnants of Ysayle (in her eyes at this point) and heals him up and they end up fairly close. Hoarhounds can act like familiars with people they grow close to, and this bond often extends to people that the owner was close to - so he's quick to warm up to Surkie, and he winds up a much better "mount" than Prompto since Hoarhounds weird and can just find you wherever; even across the Rift. He's a trans-affirming misandrist, but he puts up with Surkie's male partners and her sons. He's very affectionate with her and Ysayle, he's grown fond of Allie, and is a big murder puppy.

Surkie has other hoarhounds which include a puppy (has grown beyond the size of the minion now) named Hati that she rescued, and Hrodvitnir from the Zadnor skirmishes who is another rescue. He's smaller and skinnier than Fenrir and also doesn't have that issue with men, so Estinien's able to help with this one without being constantly glared and growled at (at least he's not Gaius, tho, because Fenrir nearly killed him upon seeing him). She also has a LYKAON PUPPY that she smuggled out of Elpis per Hermes' request. He saw how well she handled Fenrir (even in spite of him nearly mauling Emet-Selch) and asked her for a favor. While all the adults had been put down, he didn't tell the other researchers about the den of pups. She can't take all of them, but she does take one and that's Skoll. She keeps her tucked into her armor until they can leave (she was so fkn tiny) and she's very good with the hoarhounds thankfully. Yes, there's a theme here with the names. Surkie picked Hati and Skoll because of stuff she read up on the Old Gods when Ysayle introduced her to their existence. She also has a Hellhound (that varies in size) named Sétanta, who she summons whenever she so feels like. I'm thinking about making the faepup canon to her too, but she has the Hellpup which is also a big Hellhound. Turns out, this was a voidsent that used to be under the Morrigna but responded better to Surkie. I need to decide on which one, but she does have a canon motorcycle she got from Cid back in post ARR, and she's fucking obsessed with it. I just don't know if I wanna go with what I actually use (the SDS Fenrir), or the Garlond one from the Island Sanctuary. There's also a mod I have that turns the SDS Fenrir into an Omega themed bike, and that's a strong consideration... Recently canonized the Hydaelyn lynx as something that was a gift from Venat, as that's a familiar based on her own powers. Sassy fucker, but Surkie keeps her close. If we wanna get technical, the Starbird counts here, too; except that's not the Starbird that is Actually Meteion and chills with Surkie a lot because that's....kind of her aunt in a really weird way? It's complicated, but Surkie's not complaining because she'd rather Meteion do that than....y'know. Endwalker's plot. Last thing that I'll mention is that she does have a canon mammet, but that's not her fault. During post HVW, Altan sat down and worked on a Wind-Up Iceheart mammet for Surkie and gave it to her. She figured that since Eorzeans use them as ways to immortalize loved ones and remember notable people, she thought it'd be a good thing to do for her since she was really struggling with the fact she wasn't allowed space to grieve while Katsuro (wrt Haurchefant) was. Katsuro - naturally - had less than welcomed opinions about if she should have something like that because "not good coping" but she kept it with her regardless. This does, however, make Ysayle's return in 5.3 kind of fucking funny because now there's a fkn toy version of her that Surkie just has. And yes, Altan threatened to make one for her other partners when she learned of them, and she nearly got her ass beat (they do not exist, but the threat is there).

Katsuro is the one who adopted the wolf pup after Surkie left that one behind, and that boy's name is Kerberos - which was the name of a familiar that Charon had. He has other dogs and some kamuy that I still need to figure out the names of, but he's just got so many fucking dogs and Kerberos is just. Not the wolf/direwolf model we see in game, but just this big fucking more realistic wolf that won't leave him alone he's such a needy brat. Kamuy could count as a canon mount, but I don't really think about that with him very often.

Gwendoline collects those creepy voidsent dolls that were made by that one goldsmith. She knows they're haunted, she knows the Wood Wailers wanted them destroyed, but she doesn't care and has managed to get all of them. Why. Why does she bring them along, the group finds them weird. Someone get her to stop. SHE EVEN HAS CALCA AND BRINA. For mounts, Gwendoline does have a Chocobo but I need to design them...whoops. But she did rescue that Unicorn from the cnj30 quest, and her name is Hemlock. However, the unicorn came paired with a Voidsent that wouldn't leave the unicorn's side. So two for one deal since Hemlock likes Gwen, thus she also has the Nightmare, Rosemary. They're both girls. They seem to like each other. The lesbian has lesbian horses.

Seraphin has Camilla, who he raised since she hatched. Camilla is a true griffin that he found when she was an egg, given to him by Hamujj Gah when he accidentally stumbled upon a recovery effort by the Amalj'aa after some of their drake eggs and their own eggs were stolen by an Ul'dahn black market type. Hamujj Gah found the griffin egg amongst the others and knew he was from Little Ala Mhigo, so he gave the egg as a sort of way of peace gesture that even the adults would get to deter any potential retaliation from perceiving this child as in danger, and this wound up fostering positive sentiments towards the Amalj'aa in Seraphin. Camilla was raised in Little Ala Mhigo alongside him, and his parents did what they could to get him barding for her so he could have her as a regular steed, and she basically goes wherever with him (except across the rift).

Lillith has a griffin that I need to work on because there's an obvious tie in there with his mom, but he does have a big destrier chocobo by the name of Agni. Agni is named for his fiery plumage, and is just as energetic as his owner. He's also got that Hayate puppy that needs to be named, and honest to god I'm leaning towards Dogmeat because hey do i need to remind people that he was originally a Lone Wanderer agaiiinnn or is it still obvious. Dogmeat isn't the name he picked, his dad picked it as a sort of morbid joke based on the conditions Sulivaughn found him in.

Altan mooches off of her siblings minions and mounts, but she has a lot of stuff that she tinkers with. Most notably, she made herself a Cruise Chaser that she uses in combat and as a mount. She likely also made the Rubellite Weapon minion because she thought it'd be interesting to recreate it and Allie wound up stealing it for herself (Altan...cant complain too much). She also may have helped Allie build the big Landerwaffe.

Zirnghota has Spriggan familiars that double as minions and mounts! They chill out as earrings for her, and brings them out as she needs them.

Glyndwr rescued an Alkonost that's very attached to him. He wanted to release it because ethics, but he's now stuck because it's very dependent on him now (gee i wonder why he has a bird thing).

I need to decide on if the others have anything, but for the most part these are the big notable ones. I've cycled through stuff for Surkie like the fox kit, the grani, kamuy of the nine tails, ehll tou, etc. but they got cycled out for varying reasons (eg the Grani, who WAS MY MAIN MOUNT THROUGH HVW BEFORE FUCKING ENW CAME OUT AND RUINED THAT. that lore used to be a voidsent that got attached to her, but now i can't use it without people going "emet mount". so thats Fucking Fun.). Either way, Fenrir is baby and she loves him.

Day 11: Once Bitten, Twice Shy

Cuteness beats caution.

“Rhalgr’s arse, this mythril sand isn’t cheap. Do I have to become a miner on top of everything else?”

Joceline knows the answer even as she asks the question. She became a weaver to earn extra gil, and then she became a botanist in order to track down the flax she needs for her linen. Now she’s an alchemist, too, because felt, which fetches a better price than wool, is made with natron. Rock salt is loads cheaper than natron, but whenever it’s time to craft another bottle of ink, she’s at the mercy of the marketboard again. Even so, her Scion job is her first priority. And she’s promised to help work on the Dezul Qualan, and to help the 789th Dig not die, and to help explore the Syrcus Trench…

Maybe if there were two or three of her, she could become a miner. But not now.

“Mew!”

There’s a gentle pressure on her leg. When Joceline looks down, she sees a coeurl kitten trying to get her attention. The frustrated pout instantly leaves her face.

“The markets are busy today, aren’t they? Did you lose your owner?” She crouches and-

Wait a tick. Hasn’t she been here before?

Well, she’s been in the Ebony Stalls loads of times, but the Highlander remembers visiting the Gold Saucer, saving a chocobo chick, and then heading for Minion Square, where she saw an adorable black coeurl kitten. When she started to pet it, it bit her.

But that was a different minion, part of her says. It’s the same part of her that thought it would be a good idea to try making anole steak with mushrooms (it wasn’t), and that because she’d become a dragoon, she’d be just fine jumping to the bottom of Camp Drybone (she wasn’t).

The kitten mews again. It’s started to play with a loose string on the apron Joceline wears when she’s crafting.

   Final Fantasy update! Bc I’m still burning through this game w/ Cam at a brisk pace.

MGP on my mind... I’m somewhat decent at Gold Saucer things and I got pretty items to showcase that. (So far, Black Coeurl kitten minion, Claws of the Beast, and Oasis set... Next up is...a “few” other things. 👀💦 Really hoping I get lucky and win the cactpot at some point...!)

IN THE AZIM STEPPE and it feels so good?! The music is a blast, but I also just. Love being surrounded by Au Ra, KSDJFHGFHDJSK--

(Magnai makes me laugh. He really is a prick, but in a funny way and also he’s-? Weirdly layered? Most characters of his type would be pretty dumb (honestly speaking) and I expected him- for a moment- to not notice Hien ribbing him... Except he did. I cannot WAIT to have Ajisai in the same room as this fool.)

.....I gained another crush on an NPC... Esugen, I will do anything for you. I will speedrun culinarian for you, if that’s what you’d wish. 🥺💕 (I hear he becomes close w/ another Auri and. Let’s OT3 this? Let’s go???)

I almost gave up my crush on Daidukul. And then my brain kicked into Inspiro-Mode so now I know how I can go about...things. (It’s gonna be a ramble-worthy thing, so I’ll try to post about it later.)

...I also had a terrible experience at Bardam’s Mettle, fjghfjdks. Tank + other DPS were on edge; Tank pulled big twice and I couldn’t keep up. Cam tried to ask to keep the pull small, but they brushed him off. And then I was told to stop doing DPS and focus solely on heals (I was attempting to balance at the time), and... Well. Stressed and anxious, I just. Stopped attacking altogether for the rest of the fight. Nearly burst into tears near the end, because I somehow lost my target on the Tank and nearly didn’t heal them in time. They both ended up leaving as Cam and I watched the cutscene...

   So it’s. Been a ride...and now I walk away from yesterday with a more pronounced, dreadful fear of dungeons.

He wonders if a specter of her remains...

[Aymeric]: Black coeurl. Black, a symbol of bad luck? Preposterous. Do they not see how cute it is? Its full eyes, its cute cries and the purrs. Sweet Halone, the purrs. Please, friend, if you ever need a place to leave this little one for a short while, he implores you to consider him as a sitter. (Lucia nods in the background. “It will offer him the chance to rest, I beg of you,” she mouths.)

[Haurchefant]: Black chocobo chick. Well then! Fancy that! The dear Warrior of Light raising a black chocobo just as he did! Considering he raised the gallant steed he bequeathed you, he would be more than happy to share some tips and tricks to raising the cute little thing- Oh! It bumped into his leg! [G’raha Tia]: Accompaniment Node. By the gods, where did you find that? Such a marveled piece of Allagan technology and it simply follows you around? Does it not retain any information of historical relevance? Do you think he would be able to find one in the Crystal Tower? Please let him borrow it. He just wants to study it. Pretty please?

[Emet-Selch]: Ancient One. ...Where did you obtain that? How did you manage to recreate it? ...No matter. Nary a point in discussing the complicated matters. Indeed, hero, this is a recreation in the likeness of a fallen brethren, not that you would have any memory of it. Its mannerisms are precisely what they experienced at the hands of the beasts. Do let it follow you so it may scowl at your fractured state. So you may always remember...

[Zenos]: Cerberpup. Fascinating. He has heard that the appearance of voidsents are a common occurrence in your savage lands, but he never imagined something like this to be within your possession. Will it grow, Warrior? It would make for an excellent guard dog.

Headcanon - Random Notes (some lewd)

Started out writing down notes to myself on what Cam thinks of the fact *so many arcanic/ghost/whatever entities* can just show up and watch him sleep whenever they feel like it; segued inevitably onto notes on Cam’s sex life.

And Cid’s and Nero’s. Honestly, half of this will end up in Nero’s entry when I finally write it up. Cid/WoL/Nero OT3. 

Spoilers for ShB, also just lewd silliness, including BDSM. Nothing explicit or graphic, though! I’m generally a PG-13 kind of writer; R at the very most.

Cam has absolutely woken up to find Emet-Selch watching him sleep--and looking as bored as he always does. Cam’s so used to having people watch him sleep--Ardbert, Feo Ul, Midgardsomr, Shanoa, etc., etc.--that he’d just throw a pillow at him or throw him the Eorzean equivalent of the bird and go back to sleep and/or get up and attempt to shove the Ascian out of the room/window/off any nearby cliffs or into any nearby thorny underbrush before going about getting ready for the day.

Cam never sleeps naked. Way too many people have the ability to just show up wherever he happens to be and watch him sleep. (Cid finds this tendency of arcanic entities to just suddenly *be there* in the bedroom/kitchen/bathroom/whatever a lot more disturbing than Cam does. Cam’s just like, “Tell them to fuck off and/or ignore them, I don’t know why they don’t all have better things to do.”)

Feo Ul has *absolutely* shown up while Cam and Cid were having sex. So has Midgardsomr. The commentary they offered was very different. Shanoa and Mochi (I headcanon the black coeurl kitten minion as Shanoa, and have lore for Cam’s Fat/Fatter Cat being an arcanic entity) both have to be forcibly shut out of the room, and will still occasionally and inconveniently just appear suddenly in the middle of the bed.

So far, Nero has *not* shown up while Cam and Cid were having sex, though he’ll certainly stop to watch and make snide comments and offer suggestions if they ever kiss or flirt anywhere he happens to be. And he *has* walked in when they were clearly about to start something and been very “hey, don’t mind me, I’ve seen at least half of all of this before” and then showed no signs of leaving.

Cid is ace-adjacent/demisexual. He’s prone to forgetting sex is even a thing, though he’ll respond when Cam reminds him. Cam and Cid don’t exactly have a wild sex life, but that’s fine by both of them. When you’ve already got the whole world(s) following your performance and pressuring you to give more than 100% all of the time in all other areas of your life, *not* having that in the bedroom (at least not with your primary partner) is actually a relief to Cam.

Cam has had sex with Nero, and they continue to occasionally get together even after Cam and Cid are married. Cid’s aware of this and has no problem with it. It helps get Nero off his back (literally, if Nero had his way), and, contrary to what you might expect, it actually seems to be good for all of them. Nero just wants *someone* to dom him, ffs. And it looks like it’s never going to be Cid, so the Warrior of Light will do as the next best thing. Cam’s actually quite competent--though obviously very *quiet*--as a dom. And, hey, he grew up in Limsa Lominsa around a lot of fishermen/women; he’s pretty good with knots. Unsurprisingly, Nero is a very mouthy sub, though he’s also remarkably creative and quite a bit of fun. 

Nero is also 100% the kind of sub who *will* try to get out of any ropes/gags/anything else and then try to get them on Cam--and if he succeeds, immediately go “wait, now what, this isn’t half as much fun.” Despite being very loudly interested in performing scientific tests (on his aether density, his memories/brain functions since Ardbert Rejoined with him, the sin eater mutation in his throat, trying to figure out whether he’s Tempered, etc.) on Cam when he’s around Cam in public, he’s not pulled anything like that in the bedroom. He would never admit it, but Nero absolutely knows where the boundaries are--and that if he crosses them, he’s not just out of Cid and Cam’s lives, he’s likely out of Eorzea altogether.

Nero *has,* though, left Cam handcuffed to pipes/machinery/desks/whatever in the Ironworks. But only in places/times where he’s absolutely certain the only person who’ll find Cam is Cid. This just makes Cam roll his eyes. And Cid go “You kill gods regularly, don’t tell me you couldn’t get out of that if you wanted to.” (Cam could.)

Nero has also never pressed for a threesome--in large part because he’s afraid Cid would turn out to not be very good in bed (by Nero’s standards) and that the experience would confirm that Cid is not attracted to Nero at all. Nero would rather not have these suspicions confirmed.

12. Favorite beast tribe?

I’m still working my way through all of them, and haven’t started some, but from what I have done, I really like the Pixies and the Moogles.

15. Favorite mount?

My coeurl mount. They are my favorite beasties so I am glad I have one. I been trying to work on my DRK duties to get the other two coeurl mounts but man... it hard since I prefer the old DRK over the new one. Would be cool if they added that Elder coeurl as a mount. You know, the the one with the white skin/fur (pictured below) instead of the yellow or the black. But still, I love any coeurl. So my default mount for any of my characters is the yellow coeurl until I find a mount that suites that character.

17. Favorite minion?

This one is a bit harder to say. There are so many to choose from! Hmm, I think I will just name off a few of my favorites. Great serpent of Ronka, Pudgy Puk, Baby Gremlin, and White Whittret. Of course there are plenty more I love but can’t name off the top of my head.

Ahh it’s actually the other way around for Leigh! Since he grew up in Ul’dah, I actually headcanon that Ul’dah has some middle eastern foods and cultural practices? So lots and lots of coffee :D He is surprised when he goes to Ishgard and they’re drinking like all this black tea. Though I’d imagine the first time he has something like say, espresso con panna, he absolutely loses his mind (in a good way ahaha). I’d like to think drinks like that would be common in La Noscea-- easy to import the coffee beans, and lots of sheep and cows to get the cream from. 😊 It’s funny you mention the cats with Glassi, because while I hadn’t specifically made her a cat person, the coeurl kitten was one of my favorite minions to use with her back in the day!!! And she has a cat gf now so that’s like the ultimate cat person goals ahaha. I tbh hadn’t thought of her with pets since her story mostly was like.. scheming to get a ship and a crew together. Though come to think of it, her best friend is a male miqo’te too, so maybe it does all fit and I just never put the pieces together myself ahaha.
