Scott has said that when he hears that song it reminds him of skating and Tessa because they chose that song. I really don’t think there’s any more to it than that. Just recently he kind of mocked their song choices by saying that they haven’t done themselves any favors because of the music hey have chosen so they know what people think and they know what draws people in, they’ve always said they’re telling a story on ice. I don’t think they ever said a song was “their” story

I said earlier today that my blog was 50% facts (didn’t have to call me out petty anon hahaha but I’ll do the gifset), so here are the facts: 

tessa explained what their new exhibition means. “two broken people. two people who love each other, but just can’t get their timing coordinated so they keep missing each other for whatever reason, for whatever circumstances. they’re just two very vulnerable, emotionally disturbed people. it’s kind of dark in that sense and there’s a bit of angst. but the underlining theme is definitely that longing to be together.” scott adds, “our story relates directly to the lyrics and we’re kind of playing off that.” (x)

I mean… I really don’t see how you can’t interpret this as “Stay is our story”

Latch is obviously up for interpretation, so you do you. But I happen to enjoy reading over @thatonekimgirl‘s gifset when I’m feeling romantic.

Now that I know what my anon was talking about (thank @bivirtuealone) I’m going to do something for the first time ever and urge people NOT TO READ the new fic by Mector. Please do not be tempted to read it out of curiosity, it’s not worth it. The fic is not tagged correctly and can cause anxiety and trigger people in what is already a difficult time for everyone.

VM get to know me

I stole this from twitter (credit to ohvirtuemoir again), but I don’t really use twitter, and I’ve been wanting to do a VM one of these and instead of making it up I’ll use this one!

What does your @ mean?

It’s a reference to the show Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip by Aaron Sorkin. I’ve had the same blog name since 2009 and I will never change it.

Any nicknames you go by?

Sometimes Ash but rarely.

Favorite VM program?

Farrucas. Carmen. Great Gig. Mahler. (Did anyone really expect me to pick only one?)

Least favorite VM program?

I have an irrational hatred for Funny Face. Honorable mention to Won’t You Charleston.

Which VM program has made you cry the most?

I’m not a crier. The only program I have actually cried during was the first time I saw Fix You, at the first show in Abbotsford so no one had any idea what was coming.

Favorite VM costumes?

Oooooh so many. The Sway dress!, Farrucas dress, Great Gig world’s costumes, Valse Triste!, Seasons green dress and Olympic IE dress, that dress she wore for compulsories in 2007 with the space buns where it spun out so pretty, the compulsory golden waltz dress, I’m quite sure I’m missing a ton.

Least favorite VM costumes?

Ooooh interesting. Charleston dress, I don’t love the team event SD dress from 2018, really any of the ones she wore in ~2006 I don’t love.

Favorite off ice moment?

Obviously there’s too many to count. I love watching them practice off ice. And I will always have a place in my heart for the Newlyweds video. Also the scene in their show where he’s ordering their dinner on the phone.

A song that you wish VM had skated to?

From the moment I saw them I wanted them to skate to Rewrite the Stars from The Greatest Showman. We got Never Enough.

Which program would you most like to see VM skate to again?

I would give pretty much anything to see them do Great Gig or Jack and Diane or I Want to Hold Your Hand.

What is your favorite picture of them?

It’s been a year.

One year ago, Work boy and I went to Acadia National Park up on Bar Harbor, Maine. Two days before, we drove up to Boston so we could hang out with my beautiful adventure girlfriend, @bivirtuealone, and then the next day we drove up to Maine. We had dinner that night in town, and made a plan for the next day.

I love sunrises, so every time we go to a national park, we wake up to catch the sunrise. This day we planned on watching it on the beach, because that’s what Acadia is all about. So we woke up at 5:30, and headed out to the park. We parked the car and did a walk along an ocean path. We stopped along some rocks and hung out to see the sun rise over the water, which was absolutely beautiful. Such a killer sunrise. We were pretty much alone, and hung out there for a little, and then walked to the path we had planned on.

We decided to hike up Gorhan Mountain, which is, admittedly, a very small mountain (like just over 500 feet), and started hiking up it around 8 AM. It didn’t take us too long to hike up it, but it was a lot of slick rocks since it rained the night before. Once we got up to the top, we took some pictures, and I found a rock to sit on for a little bit.

I was honestly pretty bummed, because I had kind of been expecting a proposal for... a year at that point? haha (not really. I was incredibly bitter. You all know this). The year before in the Smoky Mountains, he had taken care of all of the hikes and planning, so I kind of expected it then. Then he had been insistent on going to Shenandoah the weekend before we left for Maine and going super early to catch the sunrise, so I expected it then (and then like... the day before he changed his mind), and then I thought the morning on the rocks it would’ve happened, and then it didn’t. So I felt like I needed a moment to settle and tell myself that this trip was still going to be great, even if it didn’t happen (and to not be upset about it) He ended up joining me on the rock I was sitting on and we sat there for probably 10 minutes not really talking, and then he suggested that we start walking back down before the park got too crowded because we had plans to go to some of the busier parts of the park, like Cadillac Mountain. So we walked back over to our bags to get a drink, he took my hand, and he asked me if he could ask me something. And then I started crying. For like 10 minutes straight.

The ring he proposed with was actually a loaner ring, because he ordered my ring (which he had intended to have by our trip to Shenandoah) but he had gotten a call that it was delayed, so we went down together to pick it up the next week.

It’s been a crazy year. We adopted two dogs, bought a house, lost someone close to us, I started grad school, and in 54 days we get married with just our family and closest friends around us, which is wild and exciting and pretty much exactly what we wanted.

I don’t know how to end this post because I don’t really do tumblr anymore unless I’m bored but I wanted to share it.
