MISSY: It’s gettin’ late. Ah sure hope the Magical Pendulum didn’t forget about me this year... 

???: Sorry that it took me a while, the dorm leader wanted to make sure my appearance was in order. 

SONNE: Joyeux anniversaire, Missy!

MISSY: SONNE BESTIE, HI!

MISSY: Ah really lucked out wit havin’ ya as mah presenter this year!

SONNE: ...could you be any louder?

MISSY: Hmm? Didya say somethin’?

SONNE: Nope, nothing at all. Let’s just get this interview underway. 

MISSY: ALRIGHT! Fire away, Sonne!

SONNE: Okay, your first question is “if you could use flight magic to go anywhere, where would you like to go?”

MISSY: Hmm, that’s a good question. Lemme think... 

MISSY: There’s this country off the coast of the Queendom of Roses. Ah’ve always wanted ta go there ever since Ah was little.

SONNE: Country off of the coast... 

SONNE: That’s Albion, right?

MISSY: Yeah! That’s actually where mah mum’s from, well, her ancestors that is. 

MISSY: Ah mean, Ah don’t need flight magic ta get there, so Ah guess it’s just somewhere Ah would like ta go. 

SONNE: Though, since your mum’s family is from Albion, why hasn’t she taken you there herself?

MISSY: Uhm, Ah’ve never really tried ta ask her ‘bout goin’. It’s just somethin’ Ah’ve always thought ‘bout. 

MISSY: Honestly, Ah dunno much about Albion ta begin wit.

MISSY: Ah just know that the family has a HUGE estate there.

INT. DIASOMNIA DORM - BIRTHDAY PARTY VENUE

SONNE: Alright, time for the second question. 

SONNE: “What is your best class?”

MISSY: Ha! The all-powerful me has got two answers for that!

MISSY: Ahm pretty good, if Ah say so mahself, with the more “do it” classes like flight in PE and Practical Magic. 

MISSY: Ahm more of a hands-on learner than a “read about it in a book” learner. 

MISSY: When Ah do somethin’, Ah do it flawlessly. 

MISSY: Magic just comes naturally to me!

SONNE: Okay, I get what you mean.

SONNE: How about from those two, which is your favorite?

MISSY: Ah bet yer thinkin’ it’s flight, but ya’ll be surprised to know it’s Practical Magic. 

MISSY: Ah don’t really know why Ah like it more, but Ah just do.

MISSY: Ah just feel such a rush whenever Ah complete a spell perfectly. 

MISSY: Also, competing and beating both Epel and Roche at seeing who can do the spell first is always the highlight of the class for me.

MISSY: So yeah, Ah love Practical Magic.

SONNE: Okay, time for the final question. 

SONNE: “What would you like to do in the coming year?”

MISSY: Honestly, Ah’ve never really thought ‘bout this much.

MISSY: Ah guess like any first-going-ta-second year on the Magift team, Ah’d like ta be first string but not much else. 

MISSY: Actually, there is another thing Ah’m hopin’ ta get better at. 

SONNE: Oh? What’s that?

MISSY: Ah’ve been workin’ on mah Unique Magic to transform inta a lot more. 

SONNE: Ah, yes, your Unique Magic.

MISSY: Once we say what Ah could potentially do, Ah put in the effort ta get there. 

MISSY: And with the help of Néné, Malleus, and everyone else in Diasomnia, Ah have finally mastered “kitty form!”

SONNE: ...oh, good grief. I’m sensing more pranks in the future.

MISSY: Ehehe, ya know it!

MISSY: But since it is a very drastic transformation, Ah can only sustain it for a few minutes right now. 

MISSY: BUT AH WILL OBTAIN MAXIMUM KITTY POWER!

Hi! I've been noticing other jp twst Guest Room interacting with the object like Alchemy Laboratory, Rook potions explodes leading changing hair color, then Trey pulls out the screaming plant/turnip smth. How can I upgrade to that? and which Card mostly have the icon meaning to interact with object?

Those interactions are for specific pieces of furniture that works with that specific card. The examples you mentioned was what was unlocked when Club Rook and Club Trey's Episode/Vignette were maxed.

It's not an "upgrade" that you can get for any card, it has to be specifically stated in the in-game news that there would be interactive furniture.

Here's a list of other interactive furniture that you may find so far:

All Club Wear cards have interactive furniture unlocked at Vignette Lv. 3 (Basketball Hoops for Basketball Club, Musical Instruments for Pop Music Club, etc.)

Cerberus Ortho's KB-RS 01 and 02 (can only get through Cerberus Ortho's card)

Silk Vil's fireworks stage (can only get through Silk Vil's card)

All Bloom Birthday cards have interactive brooms, but this can only be activated on their birthday.

Groovy Card Art Portraits (unlocked when an SSR has been LB'd once and groovied)

✨Stuff For This Week✨

Hello everyone!

First off, the winners of the union birthday card polls were Yuulan and Danica! But I still have a lot of fun ideas in mind for my other babies this year, starting with Sidonie. 

My blooming sorceress will be celebrating her birthday this Thursday! In celebration, I’ll be sharing some new content for her including her dorm uniform SSR! It will also include a new vignette called “It’s Not Easy Being Queen” which will chronicle Sidonie’s time during the events of twst Book 6. I’ll post the first part Thursday and the second and third parts after Book 6 ends in EN since the vignette ending includes spoilers for the ending. 

I’ll also be debuting a new OC on Wednesday who will have a significant role in her dorm uniform vignette. 

Also, I will be deleting Shining Hearts chapter 16 and reposting it this Friday. I came to the realization that I once again rushed a few passages and the story kinda suffered because of it. In particular a few very crucial points ended up being lost in translation and it will take more than a few quick edits to fix them. I was really trying to just get it done before the bad feelings took me over again, I swear I will get better about this eventually but I will be taking the week to fix up chapter 16 to be more satisfying to me. 

Finally, Taima’s VDC dress vignette. “Mmm Whatcha Say” will be out this Friday as well!

I GOT HIS SSR BIRTHDAY CARD I’M SO HAPPY OH MY GOSH

I’ve been saving for a bit, though I must admit I spent a sum of money (irl money). I ended up getting the 800 paid gems package cus it would give me 7 pulls instead of 6.

His birthday outfits are all so pretty, but the bloom one is probably my favorite. I mean come on they gave him POINTY SHOES (I love pointy shoes) Witch aesthetics are so pretty and so are flower aesthetics.

Anyway, I got his SSR on my fifth pull and I was so upset with myself cus it was the ONE PULL I clicked skip on only because I didn’t see grim appear. I have a square brain fr but at least I have Jamil :D

I also got his gym uniform (which for the record REFUSED to come home before now), and I got to read his gym vignette! I’m on part 2 of his birthday vignette, and I was FURIOUS when they changed the answer to ‘What is the first word you’ll teach your parrot’ from ‘Master’ (classic Jamil response) to fucking ‘Hello’ WTF DISNEY?!

At least I know his true answer because I’m a simp and I’ve read his wiki page too many times to count. Yay for me!

Riddle, Vil: A Family Affair

Riddle’s vignettes are so… interesting?? We can see how he’s trying to take small steps to have more agency. I like to think that, very slowly, he’s coming into his own as a young man, an entity separate from his mother.

It’s nice that Riddle’s Groovy shows him in a fun pose. You’d think that someone as strict as him wouldn’t want to fly abnormally, but you can tell it's a manner that's unique to him. Riddle may be upside down like Floyd is in his own Broomquet Groovy, but you can tell that there is a marked difference between the two. Riddle’s holding bis broom in a much more secure way, which is reflective of his personality, whereas Floyd is much more precarious in his pose. It reflects their personalities well!

And now we wait for Jamil’s Birthday Platinum Jacket SSR… 👀

A Boy in Bloom, and his Flowering Future.

“What do you want to do in the coming year?”

Riddle cleared his throat and stood straight as he provided his reply. He was the model student, interviewee... and, of course, birthday boy. "I would like to expand my culinary knowledge."

Vil arched a perfectly sculpted brow. "Judging by your prompt response, I take it that you studied the interview questions and prepared suitable answers for them in advance. How like you--but what a surprise that you have a goal that isn't related to school. You're infamous for your tenacity in that regard."

"I-I am capable outside of the realm of academics too!" Riddle hastily said with a frown. “… Though I admit I may be lacking in some departments. That is precisely why I would like to dedicate time and energy to strengthening my areas of weakness.”

"Oh, please. You can't possibly be as nightmarish at cooking as..." Vil paused, shuddering, "Lilia is."

The birthday boy paled at the mention of his senior. Lilia, who left kitchens looking like a natural disaster had torn through an active warzone. Lilia, who tossed in everything under the sink and then some. Lilia, who was known across campus for all manner of food borne illnesses and poisonings.

"Surely not!!" Riddle insisted. "I know how to read and follow a recipe! The issue lies in flexibility. Trey is able to make an entire meal just from leftovers, but I wouldn't be able to do the same."

"My, if you're concerned about food waste, couldn't you simply ask Trey to teach you? I'm certain he wouldn't refuse you. That man is too nice for his own good."

"Perhaps that's true. But even so... this is a skill I'd like to learn for myself. I don't want to become overly reliant on others' strength. What I must cultivate first and foremost is my own. To that end, I plan on enrolling in more Master Chef courses during my time at NRC. There are many styles of cooking I've yet to master. For example, Trey prepares meals that are very different from that of my mother."

"How so?"

"Well..." Riddle hesitated. The way he gnawed at his lower lip reminded Vil of an anxious rabbit--a far cry from the self-assured dorm leader he knew Riddle as.

"Mother cooks with nutrition as her priority. She is very health conscious and goes out of her way to ensure that I am eating what I need. When I am studying at home, she brews tea to drink. It's rare that my entire family comes together for a meal, given that we're all busy.

"Meanwhile, Trey's food is... I can't quite put a finger on it, but it's flavorful and fun, yet balanced. The experiences are unique from my time at home. Sometimes it's something warm, hearty, and comforting like hamburger steak. Sometimes it's something hopelessly indulgent and loaded with sugar, like tarts decorated with jewel-like fruits."

"Your eyes are shining." Vil smirked. "You enjoy his cooking that much?"

"I don't understand it myself," Riddle replied, scrunching his brows. "When Trey cooks, people are lured by the smell and gather around the table, wanting to join for the meal. It happened the other day when I was to eat with him and Cater. Ace and Deuce barged in on us, and... well, I suppose it wasn't all bad. We had a delightful conversation over lunch. There's something magical about that."

"There is a different feeling to eating with others than alone," Vil agreed with a slight nod. "My father and I can hardly align our schedules, so it's rare that we can sit down and eat together. Then again, maybe it's that rarity that makes us appreciate those moments all the more."

"That's right. It's a special spell that I realized I can't reproduce. Just memorizing the recipes and recreating them... that alone isn't enough."

"Fufufu, so you want to master that kind of 'magic'. That's surprisingly cute of you."

"N-No, you're mistaken! While it's true that cooking would come in handy for entertaining guests, it'd primarily be for self-sufficiency. After all, it's not as though I can always ask Trey or my mother to cook for me." Riddle shifted from one foot to another. "Someday, I'll have to move out of my dorm as well as my house, and live independently as a fine adult."

"Yes, cooking is an essential skill for that distant future. Have you already started on making those arrangements?"

"Er, not yet. I've been looking into it, but to actually take those first physical steps is... that is, I don't know how my mother would react."

"She sounds very stern from what you've told me of her. However, every mother must let her child go eventually."

"Maybe so, but I have never known my mother to back down from her beliefs. She's... not a woman you want to challenge." Riddle's voice strained at the final word. It was the lightest way he could put it, too afraid to acknowledge the whole truth. "I've tried to get her to hear me out, but..."

"If you can't draw that line in the sand now, then when? It will only make things more difficult for you when you start live alone."

"I'm fully aware of that." He couldn't bring himself to say more.

Vil sighed, bringing a hand to his temple. "... Listen, Riddle. Think of life as a stage, and you as the actor upon it. Worried about how the audience will react to your performance, working tirelessly to hone your craft.

“When the lights dim and the cameras turn off, the staff and the audience leave the theatre. You’ll be left only with your own thoughts. The onlookers may have one impression of you—but when the curtains fall, so long as you are proud of who you are away from the public eye, that, I think, is a sign of true maturity.

“If it’s courage and confidence that you seek, then you must work toward it. Never let your eyes stray from it. Even should the world deprive you of a happy ending, you must claw for it, believing that, someday, it will be yours.”

“Vil-senpai… Is this your way of encouraging me to see my goals through to the very end?”

His upperclassman scoffed. Thin, soft—like a rose petal, almost imperceptible as it passed upon a breeze.

“Think of it what your will. I merely speak from my own experience,” Vil replied. “We are both prideful NRC students at our very cores. Standing strong on our own two feet is something we all desire. That we can one day recognize that dream… It goes for us all.”

“Recognizing a dream, hm?”

How curious. I wondered not too long ago if it was really possible. Now, here I am, taking those first, small baby steps. A world where I can think for myself, live by my own rules… It sounds like a wonderland within my reach.

Soon, but not yet.

“… One day,” Riddle whispered to himself. “One day, I’ll be the person I want to be.”

Not the person I’m told to be.

A palm came against his back—a pat from Vil. “Really, I thought the dorm leader of Heartslabyul would know better than to mumble. You’re usually so good at barking at your card soldiers. Do remember to speak up—now, and forevermore.”

“I don’t recall asking for your advice.” Riddle brushed off his touch, stepping forward with his broom at the ready. Still, he chuckled. “… But yes, I will work on gathering my courage so that I may be comfortable leaving the nest. Thank you for your concern, senpai.”

“Ara, what cheek.” Vil tossed his golden locks. “If I’m to share the stage with you, then of course your skills must be on par with mine. Don’t you dare disappoint me, understood?”

“Hmph, when have I ever been the type to fall short of meeting expectations? Observe.”

Riddle confidently mounted his broom, assuming the position he had practiced many times over. There was a diagram of this exact pose in the mountain of textbooks he had in his dorm room. Straddling the handle between the legs, arms straight and steady, one hand gripped over the other, elbows locked.

He could have been the textbook diagram himself.

When Riddle looked up, he saw the vast sky, sunlight spilling across the sea that surrounded the island. Sunset on its way to soon paint the day with darkness.

The sky… It connects many different places and people. The future is stretching out before me, chalk full of possibilities.

Then… I can try, can I? To soar, to break free. Just this once…!!

Riddle’s hold on his broom tightened.

He called forth his magic, letting it pool around him in a shower of scarlet sparkles. The power collected, coalescing as a tingling warmth dancing across his skin, until he at last unleashed it in one burst. Like a cap popped off on a bottle.

Riddle buckled off, propelling into the air in a corkscrew motion. Rose petals fell free from his bouquet, perfuming the summer sky with them.

“Whew…!”

He stopped spinning, flying forward upside down. The world shifted, shapes and colors rearranging into a new perspective. His head and vision spun, seemingly colliding all of his senses against one another.

A moment or two later, and they had rattled neatly into place.

Riddle looked again, taking it all in. Rich gold dappling the grand spires of Night Raven College, the honeyed aroma of roses, the wind from on high tickling his lashes. The delicious freedom of flying freely.

“… Hah.”

Riddle: It's time for the customary interview. I must prepare myself to provide proper responses so as to be a role model to the other students.

Riddle: There is five minutes remaining until it is slated to begin. I wonder if we will be able to start on time…

???: For celebrities like me, it is crucial to be punctual. Although, I cannot say I blame you for your concern.

Riddle: Ah, so you're my presenter, Vil-senpai. It seems this interview should run smoothly.

Vil: Well, aren't you lucky, Riddle? Don't you think having me as your presenter is the best birthday gift one could receive?

Riddle: Fufu, you're right. Thank you, and please be gentle with me.

Vil: Alright, let me start from the beginning… Riddle, Happy Birthday. I'll start the interview now.

Vil: “If you could use flight magic to go anywhere, where would you like to go?”

Riddle: Anywhere while using flight magic, you say…? Given that condition, I believe I would be able to fly back and forth between the Queendom of Roses and Sage's Island.

Vil: If I recall, you're from the Queendom of Roses, yes? Are you looking to take quick day trips back home?

Riddle: Oh, I wouldn't go home, but instead, I'd like to go out to this one ranch.

Vil: A ranch? That's… actually not too surprising, I suppose. You are in the Equestrian club, after all.

Riddle: Come to think of it, I believe they also offered horseback riding lessons… My recollection is from some time ago, so I'm not sure if they still offer it, however.

Vil: Oh, so you've gone before?

Riddle: Yes, during one of my elementary school extra curriculars.

Riddle: It wasn't very far from my hometown, so many of my classmates would visit there on weekends.

Riddle: It seems it was common for them to buy some ice cream from the ice cream vans they had stationed around the ranch…

Riddle: Even when we visited for our extracurricular course, I recall many of my classmates eating that ice cream.

Vil: Well now, it must have been very popular. So, essentially, you wish to once more taste that ice cream from time long past, yes?

Riddle: I've never eaten it. At the time, my mother had forbidden me from having snacks of that sort.

Riddle: I saw an advert for it in a magazine that one of my dormmates were reading, so I researched it on the internet…

Riddle: They're really well known for their white and fluffy whipped cream topped sweets, so much so that apparently some customers come from overseas just to try it.

Vil: From overseas, even? That's impressive, especially for a ranch café.

Riddle: I agree. There was even a showcase of their delicious looking sweets on their website as well.

Riddle: Among them, I found the cream tart to look the most appealing… So I have been wanting to eat it someday.

Vil: So, put simply, you wish to go to this ranch and come back without your mom ever finding out? Ahaha! I like it!

Vil: For you of all people to want to secretly snack like this, I guess you've truly embraced the spirit of Night Raven College.

Riddle: That's not…! Ah, no, it probably is just as you've surmised, Vil-senpai.

Vil: "What is your best class?"

Riddle: As I always receive a perfect score on my tests, when it comes to grades, I have no obvious strengths or weaknesses.

Riddle: If I must choose one, I suppose I'd choose Practical Magic.

Vil: True, practical application of magic is a very useful skill.

Vil: Although, back when my magic first presented itself, I do remember thinking, that I could do it much faster if I didn't use magic, however.

Riddle: That's understandable. In Heartslabyul, we use our magic for practical application when painting the roses, or transporting our tableware, but…

Riddle: For those who are unsteady when it comes to their magical output and control, they often just do it with their own hands, instead of magic. This is especially true with our inexperienced first years.

Vil: You say that as if you were not like them.

Riddle: That's exactly correct. Before I even enrolled in Night Raven College, I already was capable of casting practical magic our classwork requires us to use.

Riddle: It wouldn't even take me 10 minutes to paint all the roses in our garden red.

Vil: I expect that would be true, especially coming from you. Were you receiving special training before coming here?

Riddle: Yes… My parents are both mages, so I acquired my knowledge through the assignments my mother tasked me.

Vil: I wouldn't know anything about how living as a family of mages would be. I'm curious to know what kind of assignments she gave you.

Riddle: The simpler tasks would be those such as putting away the books I had finished reading or changing my outfit.

Riddle: Let me see, I think it might have been when I was five years old when I once fell asleep from exhaustion in the middle of finishing what had been tasked to me...

Riddle: My mother had come in to check on my progress, and she scolded me fervently. After that, I was given another task to complete.

Vil: I assume your mother simply very earnest when it comes to your education… But she sure does not take it easy on her child, I see.

Riddle: …As I endeavored to complete all my assignments, I could tell that my own abilities were growing bit by bit.

Riddle: I could feel my own motivation surging after I had set a goal for myself, to complete all my assigned tasks before my mother would come to check in on me.

Riddle: I can still clearly remember that proud feeling that coursed through me the first time I was able to achieve that goal.

Vil: Essentially, you were challenging yourself to a speedrun, is that it? I can't help but be impressed by your diligence.

Vil: Alright then, this is your last question.

Vil: “What would you like to do in the coming year?”

Riddle: I would like to improve my cooking skills.

Vil: YOU, COOK!? Rather, I should ask, why did you decide to try to improve that?

Riddle: I have several reasons, but… I suppose the biggest one is that I realized that there is still much I don't know about cooking.

Vil: Well, that is a laudable thing for you to say, a far cry different from your comments earlier. Perhaps you'd elaborate further for me.

Riddle: The other day, I was invited to have lunch with Trey and Cater. They said that Trey was planning on making the food…

Riddle: So I asked them what he was making, and he responded, "I'll just look in the fridge and decide after I see what's available."

Vil: And what did you eat that day, then?

Riddle: The main dish was a cheese omelette. It seems he used the leftover ingredients from when we baked some cheese tarts the day before.

Riddle: We had leftover carrots and raisins from making a carrot cake, and those were tossed into a salad side dish.

Riddle: In addition, he also made soup and dessert for us. All with ingredients that we had in the kitchen.

Vil: For a lunch that was made with whatever was leftover, that sounds as if it was rather splendid.

Riddle: IT ABSOLUTELY WAS.

Riddle: As the food was almost finished, Ace and Deuce showed up, having followed the aroma to see where it was coming from…

Riddle: In the end, it was the five of us eating lunch together that day. Cater, Ace, and Deuce had nothing but praise for the food.

Riddle: I was truly astounded… I never expected such a delicious meal from leftovers like that, let alone multiple courses.

Riddle: I always believed that cooking required one to plan the menu ahead of time and carefully prepare each step and ingredient properly.

Vil: You're not wrong, either. It's actually rather difficult to create dishes on the fly like that without any experience.

Riddle: Trey explained that there many times that he would cook instead of his parents, so he just naturally learned how.

Riddle: When he said that, I came to a realization. It wasn't enough for me to only memorize recipes, but I needed to gain more experience as well.

Riddle: Eventually, once I leave the dormitory and my parent's home, I'll be on my own and I may need to cook for myself.

Riddle: If I am able to use up all my ingredients and seasonings without being wasteful, then it should also reduce the time I would need for shopping.

Riddle: That's why I intend on taking continual Master Chef courses in order to gain that practical know-how.

Vil: I have this feeling that you may find that there will be many challenges when you live alone, much more than just cooking.

Riddle: …What does that mean?

Vil: Well, there's a plethora of things I can think of… But for now, I suppose I'm just extremely curious what kind of interior design you'll end up choosing.

Riddle: My interior design choice, hm. You're right, I would need to assemble a complete set of furniture once I start living alone.

Riddle: If I ever come to purchase any furniture, it would be an honor to receive advice from you, Vil-senpai.

Vil: This concludes the interview. I was able to learn many fascinating things about you.

Vil: Here, take this. This broom has copious amounts of bright red flowers and suits a leading man like yourself well.

Cater: Today, I'm planning on asking you every little thing to learn everything about you, Leona-kun, so be prepared～

Leona: Well, aren't you real chipper. Alright, I'm fully expecting you to make this the best birthday ever, then.

Cater: U-Uh, you might be putting a little too much pressure on me there? But okay, let me just restart, and… Let's dive into the first question!

Cater: And, it doesn't look like you have to worry about the amount of magic you'd have to use.

Leona: Yeah, I'm not planning on going to any of the noisy places you're probably thinking of.

Leona: Since I'm going to be using flight magic to get there anyway, I'd rather find a remote place that normal people wouldn't really be able to get to.

Cater: But if it's a remote location… Then You can't really enjoy any sightseeing or recreational activities.

Leona: I told you, I wanted to just lounge about. If I were to run around like that, it completely defeats the purpose.

Cater: So, basically…. You're wanting to "do nothing," right?

Leona: Yeah, that's the best way to live in luxury, don't you think?

Leona: Food is prepared when I'm hungry, and the bath is ready for whenever I feel like taking one.

Leona: And there, in that quiet and comfortable environment, I can sleep peacefully without being bothered by anyone else

Cater: Not being bothered and in a quiet place, huh. Yeah, I guess that's not a bad way to go about it.

Leona: Right? As Dorm Leader and as Captain of the Magift team, there's a ton of things I have to constantly worry about, you know.

Leona: Basically, that just means that I also need some time off to rest my mind and body once in a while.

Cater: Ahaha. I bet I know a few people who'd be cross hearing you say that… But hey, I guess I get how you feel, Leona-kun.

Cater: Alllright, now that I got to hear a lot about that, I'll move on to the next question ♪

Cater: 'Kay, second question!

Cater: "What is your best class?"

Cater: Now here's a super interesting question!

Leona: Huh? How.

Cater: Yeah, because you're real smart. So I def wanna know what class you like best～

Leona: So, you think I'm smart, huh. I guess I'll go ahead and take that as a compliment.

Cater: Well, obviously it's a compliment! I have a hard time getting most of my classes, so I'm a bit jelly. Is there some trick to it?

Leona: I've had private tutors ever since I was a child. Obviously, the curriculum also contained classes that wouldn't be found in this school, too.

Cater: Uh… which means?

Leona: All the stuff that they teach here at this school, I learned way before enrolling.

Leona: Basically, everything I know isn't from just sitting behind a desk and studying like crazy, like your little Dorm Leader.

Cater: I see～ So you're saying that the stuff we learn in class are basically second nature to you, huh.

Cater: Okay, then, let me change the wording up a little bit… What's your favorite class?

Leona: My favorite class, hm… If I had to choose one, that'd be Ancient Incantations. That one is at least not as boring as the other classes.

Cater: Woah, Ancient Incantations, huh～ That's the one where you try to decipher old languages that aren't even used anymore, right?

Cater: And there's still a ton of languages that haven't been deciphered yet, either, right?

Leona: Yeah. And many of those languages were made to conceal magic spells in the first place. So they were already created to be complex.

Leona: That's why even subject matter experts also have a hard time combing through them.

Leona: Even just trying to read the individual letters is a chore. And even if you can figure those out, there's no point unless you can actually understand the words and sentences.

Leona: It has to be carefully analyzed by comparing the new content to old words that have already been translated, or rules that have already been pre-established.

Cater: I already have trouble with just what's in our textbooks, so I can't even imagine trying to figure out even more difficult things like those languages…

Cater: What can someone do to get better at ancient incantations?

Leona: It's just that I already was interested in that type of thing. I guess the thing that dragged me into it was this inscription I found in the Sunset Savanna.

Leona: There was this very long engraving in some old language…

Leona: The first time I looked at it, I had no idea what it was supposed to say, but then I started to translate it in my spare time, and…

Cater: AND? WH-WHAT DID IT SAY? SOME KIND OF ROYAL SECRET THAT NO ONE KNOWS!?

Leona: It was just the country's history. On top of that, basically it was stuff already in the textbooks.

Cater: Ehhh, you got my hopes up, and that was it? That was kinda anticlimactic.

Leona: Yeah, it's basically a boring story once you get into it… But it wasn't too terrible learning how to decipher it.

Cater: Last question! Here we go.

Cater: “What would you like to do in the coming year?”

Leona: Not to repeat a year, that's all.

Ortho: It's like a dream come true to get interviewed for my birthday as a student here at Night Raven College.

Ortho: And on top of that, thanks to my big brother, I was able to retrofit my gear to look just like everyone else's outfits… I'm super happy.

Ortho: Oh yeah, I should make sure to capture all this on film. I wanna show this to my brother… Oh, and my dad and mom.

???: Film? …I suppose I'll have to ask later. Pardon me.

Sebek: Happy Birthday, Ortho. It seems I have been tasked with being your presenter today.

Ortho: Woah, hey! Sebek Zigvolt-san! Thank you. I look forward to it.

Sebek: Right… You mentioned just a moment ago that you would be capturing this on film. Essentially, does that mean you intend on recording my words and actions?

Ortho: Yep. And if you make any mistakes, maybe Malleus-san will end up seeing alll your embarrassing moments. You better do good.

Sebek: Humph, as if I would disgrace myself before someone like you. I shall read out the first question now.

Sebek: “Are you good or bad at flying?”

Ortho: Hmmm, that's a toughie. I mean, especially since I'm a humanoid…

Ortho: I can't just cast magic on a broom and fly like you or the other mages here.

Sebek: Hm? You mean to tell me that you do not usually use magic to float in the air?

Ortho: Yeah. It's more like technomantic energy… Maybe it'd be easier to say it's a hybrid of electricity and magic.

Ortho: By swapping out my gear or any attachments, I can increase my speed, or even fly for longer periods of time.

Ortho: For me, as long as I have technomantic energy, I can fly wherever I want…

Ortho: I can even fly no problem through difficult obstacle courses, or fly at a constant speed.

Ortho: That's why for a little while after I became a student at Night Raven College, I made sure to observe the flight and P.E. classes.

Ortho: Unlike you guys, it's not like I would gain any stamina or strength through training, after all.

Sebek: You were observing us? I suppose I do recall seeing you flying with some of the students last week or so.

Ortho: Oh, so you saw me. Actually, I recently started helping out by supporting Vargas-sensei during his classes.

Sebek: You're supporting…? As in, as his assistant?

Ortho: Yep. During flight classes, I fly along my classmate's brooms and capture data on their form and time.

Ortho: Using that data, I'm able to identify everyone's habits and weaknesses and provide suggestions for improvement.

Sebek: Hm… That would indeed be helpful to be able to get an objective analysis of my flying posture.

Ortho: Right? And Vargas-sensei praised me too, saying, "When you're around, the students' muscles gleam even brighter"!

Sebek: Next question is…

Sebek: “What is something that made you glad you could use magic?”

Ortho: Eehh, that's another tough one.

Ortho: I might have been able to develop a soul that can use imagination like you guys, but it's not like I can actually use magic…

Ortho: Because all of my functions are based on technomantic energy…

Ortho: But if I were to answer as a student of a mage institute should… IT'D HAVE TO BE THAT I'VE MADE FRIENDS HERE!!

Sebek: You're a student of the most prestigious Night Raven College, and your answer is to speak of the friendships you've developed?

Ortho: Yep. Because I came here originally as one of my brother's "gadgets," I was able to meet a ton of living people…

Ortho: And now that I've started taking classes as a student, I've had the opportunity to come in contact with so many more people.

Ortho: I had a ton of fun with the groupwork we had the other day. You know, the one where we had to study up on some of the legends of the Great Seven.

Ortho: You did that in your class too, right?

Sebek: Indeed. I found writing a report in a group of 4 to be a rather impractical assignment.

Ortho: Oooh, so you don't find group work to be practical, huh. Interesting.

Sebek: From the way you speak, it seems to me like you look upon that sort of assignment favorably.

Ortho: Yep. Whenever I listen to other people's opinions, even if we're reading the same story, everyone has a different interpretation, so I find that super fascinating.

Sebek: Interpretation?

Ortho: I guess I could also say that everyone values different things.

Ortho: And then I realized that the thought that everyone puts the most value in is strongly connected to their past experiences… their "memories," so to speak.

Ortho: For example, if you were born and raised in Briar Valley, you would've probably heard so many anecdotes of the Thorn Fairy from a young age.

Ortho: That's why there would be more passion, more zeal in the discussion about her.

Ortho: And some may believe that their idealized versions are more correct than a proper database.

Sebek: Idealized, you say? The Thorn Fairy is absolutely a great being. No amount of praise would ever be considered to be too much.

Ortho: If you're that adamant, then we should have a discussion about it sometime.

Ortho: During class the other day, I sourced documents from my database and soundly destroyed all the inconsistencies in their arguments…

Ortho: So I wonder just how far you'll be able to keep up with me, Sebek-san.

Sebek: Don't you put me in the same category as your classmates. I have read an abundance of books on the Thorn Fairy.

Sebek: “How do you spend your days off?”

Ortho: Hmm, there's a lot I do, but… I guess I often find myself watching movies or stage plays online.

Ortho: Recently, though, I've been spending lunch or tea time with my dorm and classmates.

Sebek: Lunch and tea time? You don't eat, though.

Ortho: Yep. But my goal there is to just chat with everyone. I also listen to their grumbles about their studies or relationships with others.

Sebek: Humph, how absurd. What good will come of listening to other people complain? Why don't you try spending your time doing something more worthwhile?

Ortho: Ehh, but it's pretty interesting. Just by watching how people react over every little thing helps me learn, too.

Sebek: What do you mean, learn?

Ortho: I've found that all the stories I hear from people are really good references for me to look back to whenever I need to act a part.

Sebek: Act a part…? Ah, right, you joined the Film Research Club. So essentially, you're saying you're feeding off of human interactions.

Ortho: Ah. This past weekend, we didn't have a club meeting, so I went into town with my brother.

Sebek: Your br… YOU MEAN TO TELL ME IDIA-SENPAI ACTUALLY WENT OUTSIDE!?

Ortho: Yep!

Ortho: We play this one game that uses our phones' GPS function, so sometimes we head out there together.

Ortho: We'll go to a restaurant that's an in-game spot where we'd be able to gather items and pick up some food that we'd already ordered online…

Ortho: And once we get to Whistle Park, we'd eat at one of the benches there. After that, we'd plan out the rest of our day there.

Ortho: And then, when he's done eating, we'll walk around the park looking for items, or have some encounter battles.

Ortho: Kinda sounds fun, like a real picnic, right?

Sebek: I can't say I know what game you speak of, but… It definitely does seem like you have a good time.

Sebek: Back home, my parents, older brother and older sister would always take me to the park to spend time.

Ortho: Heh, sounds like you and your family are pretty close, too. That's just like us!

Ortho: Me and my brother, as well as our dad and mom, used to go play at the nearby park, or even at a forest or river back in the day, too.

Ortho: …Although ever since my brother started to shut himself inside his room, we haven't been able to go anywhere as a family anymore.

Sebek: Well, it seems Idia-senpai has gotten to the point where he can actually go outside again. Perhaps there will come the time that you will be able to travel somewhere as a family again?

Sebek: That person needs to leave the house more. You should do what you can to take him out camping, traveling, or what have you.

Ortho: Yep, you're right. Sebek-san, thanks for your advice!

Sebek: I'm your presenter, after all! It's only natural that I should be able to present this sort of advice.

Sebek: You may come ask me anything you wish when you plan to take your family on a trip outdoors.

Ortho: Woah, this is my first ever personal broom! I didn't actually think I'd get one.

Ortho: There's so many different kinds of flowers here. I'll have to fly carefully so as to not blow them away with my jets.

Sebek: Don't you dare show us a shameful sight on your birthday, Ortho.

Ortho: Of course! Make sure you keep your eyes on me while I fly, Sebek Zigvolt-san!
