MISSY: It’s gettin’ late. Ah sure hope the Magical Pendulum didn’t forget about me this year... 

???: Sorry that it took me a while, the dorm leader wanted to make sure my appearance was in order. 

SONNE: Joyeux anniversaire, Missy!

MISSY: SONNE BESTIE, HI!

MISSY: Ah really lucked out wit havin’ ya as mah presenter this year!

SONNE: ...could you be any louder?

MISSY: Hmm? Didya say somethin’?

SONNE: Nope, nothing at all. Let’s just get this interview underway. 

MISSY: ALRIGHT! Fire away, Sonne!

SONNE: Okay, your first question is “if you could use flight magic to go anywhere, where would you like to go?”

MISSY: Hmm, that’s a good question. Lemme think... 

MISSY: There’s this country off the coast of the Queendom of Roses. Ah’ve always wanted ta go there ever since Ah was little.

SONNE: Country off of the coast... 

SONNE: That’s Albion, right?

MISSY: Yeah! That’s actually where mah mum’s from, well, her ancestors that is. 

MISSY: Ah mean, Ah don’t need flight magic ta get there, so Ah guess it’s just somewhere Ah would like ta go. 

SONNE: Though, since your mum’s family is from Albion, why hasn’t she taken you there herself?

MISSY: Uhm, Ah’ve never really tried ta ask her ‘bout goin’. It’s just somethin’ Ah’ve always thought ‘bout. 

MISSY: Honestly, Ah dunno much about Albion ta begin wit.

MISSY: Ah just know that the family has a HUGE estate there.

SONNE: “What is your best class?”

MISSY: Ha! The all-powerful me has got two answers for that!

MISSY: Ahm pretty good, if Ah say so mahself, with the more “do it” classes like flight in PE and Practical Magic. 

MISSY: Ahm more of a hands-on learner than a “read about it in a book” learner. 

MISSY: When Ah do somethin’, Ah do it flawlessly. 

MISSY: Magic just comes naturally to me!

SONNE: Okay, I get what you mean.

SONNE: How about from those two, which is your favorite?

MISSY: Ah bet yer thinkin’ it’s flight, but ya’ll be surprised to know it’s Practical Magic. 

MISSY: Ah don’t really know why Ah like it more, but Ah just do.

MISSY: Ah just feel such a rush whenever Ah complete a spell perfectly. 

MISSY: Also, competing and beating both Epel and Roche at seeing who can do the spell first is always the highlight of the class for me.

MISSY: So yeah, Ah love Practical Magic.

SONNE: “What would you like to do in the coming year?”

MISSY: Honestly, Ah’ve never really thought ‘bout this much.

MISSY: Ah guess like any first-going-ta-second year on the Magift team, Ah’d like ta be first string but not much else. 

MISSY: Actually, there is another thing Ah’m hopin’ ta get better at. 

SONNE: Oh? What’s that?

MISSY: Ah’ve been workin’ on mah Unique Magic to transform inta a lot more. 

SONNE: Ah, yes, your Unique Magic.

MISSY: Once we say what Ah could potentially do, Ah put in the effort ta get there. 

MISSY: And with the help of Néné, Malleus, and everyone else in Diasomnia, Ah have finally mastered “kitty form!”

SONNE: ...oh, good grief. I’m sensing more pranks in the future.

MISSY: Ehehe, ya know it!

MISSY: But since it is a very drastic transformation, Ah can only sustain it for a few minutes right now. 

MISSY: BUT AH WILL OBTAIN MAXIMUM KITTY POWER! 

MISSY: NOW THAT IS MAH PLAN FOR THE COMING YEAR!

I really appreciate the beauty of Malleus New Year's card. But most importantly, other than its gorgeousness, I also appreciate how it pays so much homage to his status and character, from the flowers, the clothes, and the setting. 🥹

We know that wisterias were prevalent in his Dorm Groovy SSR, this time its another flower which is the red plum blossom here😭❤️

In Chinese philosophy, the Plum tree’s blossom is a symbol of winter ending and a herald of spring. The tree’s pale pink blossoms are cherished because they bloom vibrantly and so bravely amidst the winter chill. They symbolise perseverance and hope, as well as, beauty thriving in adverse circumstances.

The way this flower's meaning is so matched with Malleus' character is so precious. We know he's "the herald of spring" because his birth brought forth a hope that the Draconias(or the faes in general) won't die out just yet (the ending of winter) and the fact that this flower blooms even in winter probably symbolizes the fact that when he was an egg, he was still perservering to live. This also applies to his life as he grows up. With the way even if his life is riddled with loneliness and exclusion, he makes an effort to go out and adjust himself with others, he doesn't give up even if his reality consistently places him in situation where his goals can never be achieved (that is, him being accepted socially and him being ignorant of human culture but still makes an effort to understand it), he just continues to be hopeful that someone/ some place will invite him, therefore his ability to thrive in adverse circumstances.

The way he slowly rises in this card makes me feel like it symbolizes how slow paced Malleus is "in going out/getting used to outside of his comfort zone", actually lol. He described his admission to NRC as him being nervous because its an unknown place but still hopeful for the experiences that he might get(acccording to the vignette of his GloMas SSR), just like him here rising from the snow and the way he lifts the veil which makes me think he wants to see the world outside of his country's point of view with his own eyes.

Japanese tradition holds that the Plum (or ‘ume’) is celebrated as a protective charm against evil, so the ume is traditionally planted in the northeast of the garden, the direction from which evil is believed to come.

I also read this symbolism which makes me tear up lmaooo 😭Because we know in Book 7, Briarland was invaded from northeast where the Silver Owls originated from 💀 The fact that the plum blossom is a protection flower and he's surrounded with it in this card makes me think that it symbolizes how protected he was during Briarland's era 😭and another thing to dissect from his slow rise from the snow with the fact the plum blossom signifies protection is probably the fact that he took so long to hatch despite many people caring for him.

Side note that in Malleus Bloom Birthday Groovy, it implied that he was born in daytime during a snowfall, and he was happy experiencing the winter, just like in this New Years card where he's smiling against the heavy snowfall 🥹

In Japan, plum blossoms symbolize good fortune, an auspicious flower, along with pine and bamboo, and the arrival of early spring. They are often used as the design for New Year’s greeting cards and other celebratory occasions. (And maybe this is just the likely reason why this flower is here in Malleus' card and I'm overthinking it above lol

Next thing I want to mention is his clothes, that attire reminds me of the formal outfit of a Japanese Emperor (From what I searched, its called sokutai, but what Malleus wears is much more simpler I guess, its a outfit derived from it which is called ikan.) This post is a great overview about these two outfits.

Ikan is the work clothes of nobles and government officials in the Imperial Court after the Heian period. Sokutai is a formal costume for those from the Emperor to the court nobles in and after Heian period (Heian costume). Ikan is called 'tonoi (nighttime) costume', whereas sokutai is called 'hino (daytime) costume'. (which probably references the fact that he's a night fae)

The point is, what Malleus wears in this card is a very traditional garment that only high ranking Japanese officials can wear. But what he wears isn't the clothes of an emperor yet, but just for a high ranking official, which is accurate to his status that he's still a crown prince not yet the king, because only Maleficia truly rules Briar Valley right now.

I love the decision that they made him wear such a prestigious outfit because the story of the New Years event is the characters working on customer service lol Its like his clothes is a reminder that he is still highly distinguished even if temporarily he's a worker.

Lastly the VEIL !!!!!! That's the thing that catched my eyes the most in this card lol I KNOW they're not referencing a wedding here because the veil don't look the same, but its so good not to mention that the one of the headress of a Japanese bride is called tsunokakushi and its description can be related with Malleus a lot lol.

The term is a compound of 角 (tsuno, "horn") + 隠し (kakushi, "hiding"). This derivation is listed in some sources as a reference to hiding a bride's "horns" of anger, jealousy, or other negative qualities, in order to present a more virtuous image for the wedding. However, this interpretation might be a folk etymology resulting from a shift in the reading and meaning.

The headdress and the veil aren't the same thing but I kinda feel like this is the idea they're going for considering the veil is 1) hiding his horns, 2) he's a character associated with being jealous, and most importantly, 3) only the person he is looking at can see his face (which is the point of most wedding veils/headdress, to hide the bride's face so that only her partner can see it).

But long veils, like the one Malleus is holding is also just a garment for a noble to hide their nobility. Which is this is probably the likely reason, considering he's using that veil to cover up his horns and his clothes, the most obvious features of his status.

Also, it could be just a fun reference to the fact that Maleficent in live action wore a long veil to hide her horns so that she wouldn't scare the humans lol

Hi! I've been noticing other jp twst Guest Room interacting with the object like Alchemy Laboratory, Rook potions explodes leading changing hair color, then Trey pulls out the screaming plant/turnip smth. How can I upgrade to that? and which Card mostly have the icon meaning to interact with object?

Those interactions are for specific pieces of furniture that works with that specific card. The examples you mentioned was what was unlocked when Club Rook and Club Trey's Episode/Vignette were maxed.

It's not an "upgrade" that you can get for any card, it has to be specifically stated in the in-game news that there would be interactive furniture.

Here's a list of other interactive furniture that you may find so far:

All Club Wear cards have interactive furniture unlocked at Vignette Lv. 3 (Basketball Hoops for Basketball Club, Musical Instruments for Pop Music Club, etc.)

Cerberus Ortho's KB-RS 01 and 02 (can only get through Cerberus Ortho's card)

Silk Vil's fireworks stage (can only get through Silk Vil's card)

All Bloom Birthday cards have interactive brooms, but this can only be activated on their birthday.

✨Stuff For This Week✨

Hello everyone!

First off, the winners of the union birthday card polls were Yuulan and Danica! But I still have a lot of fun ideas in mind for my other babies this year, starting with Sidonie. 

My blooming sorceress will be celebrating her birthday this Thursday! In celebration, I’ll be sharing some new content for her including her dorm uniform SSR! It will also include a new vignette called “It’s Not Easy Being Queen” which will chronicle Sidonie’s time during the events of twst Book 6. I’ll post the first part Thursday and the second and third parts after Book 6 ends in EN since the vignette ending includes spoilers for the ending. 

I’ll also be debuting a new OC on Wednesday who will have a significant role in her dorm uniform vignette. 

Also, I will be deleting Shining Hearts chapter 16 and reposting it this Friday. I came to the realization that I once again rushed a few passages and the story kinda suffered because of it. In particular a few very crucial points ended up being lost in translation and it will take more than a few quick edits to fix them. I was really trying to just get it done before the bad feelings took me over again, I swear I will get better about this eventually but I will be taking the week to fix up chapter 16 to be more satisfying to me. 

Finally, Taima’s VDC dress vignette. “Mmm Whatcha Say” will be out this Friday as well!

I technically started at the beginning of the year but I uninstalled it after like 2 months of playing. Then I came back at the end of the summer and here I am! I'm doing way better than the first time playing hehe

Had a whole adventure with this. Malleus was my first favorite for a very long time, but after a while I left him for Idia and Silver. Idia AND Silver, I can't choose between them :')

5) Caught up with the main story?

In the game no, but I watch some translations on YouTube whenever a new chapter is out

6) How many unread vignettes?

None! Every time I unlock a vignette I read it

Uhm, none so far. If you consider the Birthday Bash events, then yes I have one

This is connected to the previous question. My first birthday SSR is Idia's birthday boy, I wanted the card ever since I started playing hehe

I was impulsive but I'm slowly learning to be a saver. I learned from my mistakes way too many times 💀

Diasomnia, I love how it looks, the aesthetic of it

Sebek! I love him so much. A lot of people hate him because he's loud, but that's exactly what I like him for. I love his personality a lot

Silver of course. Another Diasomnia member in the pack, but I love Silver's calm personality a lot, and his character

Probably some of you predicted this but it's Idia of course. I love him the most. His personality is what I love the most and his passions are similar to mine

History of Magic for sure! I mean I'm not a sucker for history in real life, sure. But the thought of being able to learn about the evolution of magic is great

Ace 😭😭 I swear I would challenge him 24/7 we have similar personalities so it would be even funnier

Book 6! It had the most impact on me, personally

Fellow's Playful Dress card! I love the colors SO MUCH! It's a card I must have. One more I really like is Sebek's Evernight Armor, I'm in awe with it

I don't want to say it but probably Scarabia. Even tho I absolutely hate everything about that dorm

What Jamil did to Yuu has to be one, if not the worst thing that happened to them. People seem to forget the fact that Jamil held Yuu and Grim AGAINST their will and KIDNAPPED them and manipulated them, then threw them at the end of the dorm's dimension. Yes, I agree that the housewardens all did fucked up shit, but what Jamil did is the most overlooked in my opinion, and Vil too. People seem to forget about what he did because he has pretty looks. Therefore, Jamil is the only character I purely hate. If you're gonna hate on me, you can. It's just my opinion here

I GOT HIS SSR BIRTHDAY CARD I’M SO HAPPY OH MY GOSH

I’ve been saving for a bit, though I must admit I spent a sum of money (irl money). I ended up getting the 800 paid gems package cus it would give me 7 pulls instead of 6.

His birthday outfits are all so pretty, but the bloom one is probably my favorite. I mean come on they gave him POINTY SHOES (I love pointy shoes) Witch aesthetics are so pretty and so are flower aesthetics.

Anyway, I got his SSR on my fifth pull and I was so upset with myself cus it was the ONE PULL I clicked skip on only because I didn’t see grim appear. I have a square brain fr but at least I have Jamil :D

I also got his gym uniform (which for the record REFUSED to come home before now), and I got to read his gym vignette! I’m on part 2 of his birthday vignette, and I was FURIOUS when they changed the answer to ‘What is the first word you’ll teach your parrot’ from ‘Master’ (classic Jamil response) to fucking ‘Hello’ WTF DISNEY?!

At least I know his true answer because I’m a simp and I’ve read his wiki page too many times to count. Yay for me!

Riddle, Vil: A Family Affair

Riddle’s vignettes are so… interesting?? We can see how he’s trying to take small steps to have more agency. I like to think that, very slowly, he’s coming into his own as a young man, an entity separate from his mother.

It’s nice that Riddle’s Groovy shows him in a fun pose. You’d think that someone as strict as him wouldn’t want to fly abnormally, but you can tell it's a manner that's unique to him. Riddle may be upside down like Floyd is in his own Broomquet Groovy, but you can tell that there is a marked difference between the two. Riddle’s holding bis broom in a much more secure way, which is reflective of his personality, whereas Floyd is much more precarious in his pose. It reflects their personalities well!

And now we wait for Jamil’s Birthday Platinum Jacket SSR… 👀

A Boy in Bloom, and his Flowering Future.

“What do you want to do in the coming year?”

Riddle cleared his throat and stood straight as he provided his reply. He was the model student, interviewee... and, of course, birthday boy. "I would like to expand my culinary knowledge."

Vil arched a perfectly sculpted brow. "Judging by your prompt response, I take it that you studied the interview questions and prepared suitable answers for them in advance. How like you--but what a surprise that you have a goal that isn't related to school. You're infamous for your tenacity in that regard."

"I-I am capable outside of the realm of academics too!" Riddle hastily said with a frown. “… Though I admit I may be lacking in some departments. That is precisely why I would like to dedicate time and energy to strengthening my areas of weakness.”

"Oh, please. You can't possibly be as nightmarish at cooking as..." Vil paused, shuddering, "Lilia is."

The birthday boy paled at the mention of his senior. Lilia, who left kitchens looking like a natural disaster had torn through an active warzone. Lilia, who tossed in everything under the sink and then some. Lilia, who was known across campus for all manner of food borne illnesses and poisonings.

"Surely not!!" Riddle insisted. "I know how to read and follow a recipe! The issue lies in flexibility. Trey is able to make an entire meal just from leftovers, but I wouldn't be able to do the same."

"My, if you're concerned about food waste, couldn't you simply ask Trey to teach you? I'm certain he wouldn't refuse you. That man is too nice for his own good."

"Perhaps that's true. But even so... this is a skill I'd like to learn for myself. I don't want to become overly reliant on others' strength. What I must cultivate first and foremost is my own. To that end, I plan on enrolling in more Master Chef courses during my time at NRC. There are many styles of cooking I've yet to master. For example, Trey prepares meals that are very different from that of my mother."

"How so?"

"Well..." Riddle hesitated. The way he gnawed at his lower lip reminded Vil of an anxious rabbit--a far cry from the self-assured dorm leader he knew Riddle as.

"Mother cooks with nutrition as her priority. She is very health conscious and goes out of her way to ensure that I am eating what I need. When I am studying at home, she brews tea to drink. It's rare that my entire family comes together for a meal, given that we're all busy.

"Meanwhile, Trey's food is... I can't quite put a finger on it, but it's flavorful and fun, yet balanced. The experiences are unique from my time at home. Sometimes it's something warm, hearty, and comforting like hamburger steak. Sometimes it's something hopelessly indulgent and loaded with sugar, like tarts decorated with jewel-like fruits."

"Your eyes are shining." Vil smirked. "You enjoy his cooking that much?"

"I don't understand it myself," Riddle replied, scrunching his brows. "When Trey cooks, people are lured by the smell and gather around the table, wanting to join for the meal. It happened the other day when I was to eat with him and Cater. Ace and Deuce barged in on us, and... well, I suppose it wasn't all bad. We had a delightful conversation over lunch. There's something magical about that."

"There is a different feeling to eating with others than alone," Vil agreed with a slight nod. "My father and I can hardly align our schedules, so it's rare that we can sit down and eat together. Then again, maybe it's that rarity that makes us appreciate those moments all the more."

"That's right. It's a special spell that I realized I can't reproduce. Just memorizing the recipes and recreating them... that alone isn't enough."

"Fufufu, so you want to master that kind of 'magic'. That's surprisingly cute of you."

"N-No, you're mistaken! While it's true that cooking would come in handy for entertaining guests, it'd primarily be for self-sufficiency. After all, it's not as though I can always ask Trey or my mother to cook for me." Riddle shifted from one foot to another. "Someday, I'll have to move out of my dorm as well as my house, and live independently as a fine adult."

"Yes, cooking is an essential skill for that distant future. Have you already started on making those arrangements?"

"Er, not yet. I've been looking into it, but to actually take those first physical steps is... that is, I don't know how my mother would react."

"She sounds very stern from what you've told me of her. However, every mother must let her child go eventually."

"Maybe so, but I have never known my mother to back down from her beliefs. She's... not a woman you want to challenge." Riddle's voice strained at the final word. It was the lightest way he could put it, too afraid to acknowledge the whole truth. "I've tried to get her to hear me out, but..."

"If you can't draw that line in the sand now, then when? It will only make things more difficult for you when you start live alone."

"I'm fully aware of that." He couldn't bring himself to say more.

Vil sighed, bringing a hand to his temple. "... Listen, Riddle. Think of life as a stage, and you as the actor upon it. Worried about how the audience will react to your performance, working tirelessly to hone your craft.

“When the lights dim and the cameras turn off, the staff and the audience leave the theatre. You’ll be left only with your own thoughts. The onlookers may have one impression of you—but when the curtains fall, so long as you are proud of who you are away from the public eye, that, I think, is a sign of true maturity.

“If it’s courage and confidence that you seek, then you must work toward it. Never let your eyes stray from it. Even should the world deprive you of a happy ending, you must claw for it, believing that, someday, it will be yours.”

“Vil-senpai… Is this your way of encouraging me to see my goals through to the very end?”

His upperclassman scoffed. Thin, soft—like a rose petal, almost imperceptible as it passed upon a breeze.

“Think of it what your will. I merely speak from my own experience,” Vil replied. “We are both prideful NRC students at our very cores. Standing strong on our own two feet is something we all desire. That we can one day recognize that dream… It goes for us all.”

“Recognizing a dream, hm?”

How curious. I wondered not too long ago if it was really possible. Now, here I am, taking those first, small baby steps. A world where I can think for myself, live by my own rules… It sounds like a wonderland within my reach.

Soon, but not yet.

“… One day,” Riddle whispered to himself. “One day, I’ll be the person I want to be.”

Not the person I’m told to be.

A palm came against his back—a pat from Vil. “Really, I thought the dorm leader of Heartslabyul would know better than to mumble. You’re usually so good at barking at your card soldiers. Do remember to speak up—now, and forevermore.”

“I don’t recall asking for your advice.” Riddle brushed off his touch, stepping forward with his broom at the ready. Still, he chuckled. “… But yes, I will work on gathering my courage so that I may be comfortable leaving the nest. Thank you for your concern, senpai.”

“Ara, what cheek.” Vil tossed his golden locks. “If I’m to share the stage with you, then of course your skills must be on par with mine. Don’t you dare disappoint me, understood?”

“Hmph, when have I ever been the type to fall short of meeting expectations? Observe.”

Riddle confidently mounted his broom, assuming the position he had practiced many times over. There was a diagram of this exact pose in the mountain of textbooks he had in his dorm room. Straddling the handle between the legs, arms straight and steady, one hand gripped over the other, elbows locked.

He could have been the textbook diagram himself.

When Riddle looked up, he saw the vast sky, sunlight spilling across the sea that surrounded the island. Sunset on its way to soon paint the day with darkness.

The sky… It connects many different places and people. The future is stretching out before me, chalk full of possibilities.

Then… I can try, can I? To soar, to break free. Just this once…!!

Riddle’s hold on his broom tightened.

He called forth his magic, letting it pool around him in a shower of scarlet sparkles. The power collected, coalescing as a tingling warmth dancing across his skin, until he at last unleashed it in one burst. Like a cap popped off on a bottle.

Riddle buckled off, propelling into the air in a corkscrew motion. Rose petals fell free from his bouquet, perfuming the summer sky with them.

“Whew…!”

He stopped spinning, flying forward upside down. The world shifted, shapes and colors rearranging into a new perspective. His head and vision spun, seemingly colliding all of his senses against one another.

A moment or two later, and they had rattled neatly into place.

Riddle looked again, taking it all in. Rich gold dappling the grand spires of Night Raven College, the honeyed aroma of roses, the wind from on high tickling his lashes. The delicious freedom of flying freely.

“… Hah.”

Who knew it could taste so sweet?
