For our next issue we are focusing on resistance, advocacy, organizing, education, tactical urbanism, bike kitchens, and other forms of DIY bike culture. . When we think of this focus we look to organization like Bikes Not Bombs community who uses the bicycle as a vehicle for social change by reclaiming thousands of bicycles each year while creating local and global programs that provide skill development for jobs and sustainable transportation programs to mobilize youth and adults to be leaders in community transformation. . And bike kitchens as methods of DIY bike culture to educate and empower people to get on bikes and give them skills to fix them. . Or community bike groups who ride together in protest for protected streets and other forms of social protests. . And this zine, that sheds light on folks advocating for safer streets, community development, environmental and social justice. . The list goes on. The goal of this is to provide you with tools, education, stories, and ways to organize DIY Bike Culture in your community. Over the last few days I have spent a lot of time in the Vienna BikeKitchen. The Bike Kitchen is only approximately four blocks from my apartment in Vienna and one of my friends, Kit, is a bike fixing pro. 

The two of have spent five or six hours trying to fix my cursed bike. At first we thought it was just an issue with the tire, which then turned into multiple issues with the brakes, an issue with the chain and a (still unresolved) issue with the gears. But Kit and I will be back at it sometime this week to fix my book for good before spring is in full swing.

I just wanted to give the Vienna BikeKitchen a huge shoutout for allowing such an inclusive and useful space to exist for people to come and fix their bikes without having to spend hundreds of euros. The BikeKitchen is an anticapitalist, feminist and anti-racist DIY space, having special workshops for women and trans individuals to promote an inclusive community.  If you have a bike problem or just want to learn more about bike mechanics, be sure to drop by the Vienna BikeKitchen sometime.
