I'm trying to draw more often, so this month I'll draw a pride flag as a flower every day (ideally). I won't be able to do all flags, of course, but I have 20 I'll try my best to draw.

Forgive the bleeding bits, the paper said it was good for marker and mixed media, but it was exaggerating its ability. Either that or I'm bad with my brand new markers, which, likely.

A new study—published in Nursing Research—has found that the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted patient safety indicators in U.S. hospitals. The study, from Penn Nursing's Center for Health Outcomes and Policy Research (CHOPR), examined data from the National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators to assess trends in nursing-sensitive quality indicators from 2019 to 2022. The prevention of these very distressing, uncomfortable conditions is considered to be under the nurse's purview and directly influenced by nursing care.

The investigation found that rates of falls, bloodstream infections from central line catheters, urinary tract infections from urinary catheters, pressure injuries from devices or immobility, and pneumonia associated with ventilator use, all increased significantly during the pandemic. While some of these rates have begun to decline, they have not yet returned to pre-pandemic levels. When a patient falls, develops a pressure injury, or suffers a hospital-acquired infection, these adverse events delay the patient's ability to go home, to be comfortable, and to heal.

"The pandemic placed an immense strain on health care systems and frontline workers, and the impact on patient safety is evident in these data," said Eileen T. Lake, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, the Edith Clemmer Steinbright Professor in Gerontology; Professor of Nursing in the Department of Biobehavioral Health Sciences; and Associate Director of CHOPR. "It's crucial that we address the ongoing challenges faced by nurses and invest in this professional workforce."

The study highlights the importance of supporting nurses and ensuring they have the resources and support they need to provide high-quality care. It also underscores the need for continued efforts to improve patient safety indicators even as the pandemic subsides.

Just to show you a few Bats, these photos have been borrowed from Richard Lawrence (under licence) on flickr.

Here we have Common Pipistrelle, Brown Long Eared and Natterer's.

Out of 18 species, 12 are found here in the Birmingham and Black Country area. All three are found here. When you think about Bats locally you think about Sutton Park NNR or Dudley Castle both sites are home to 9 species each but our key site is Smestow and Wightwick in Wolverhampton with 11 species!

Leisler's, Brandt's, Nathusius's Pipistrelle and Lesser Horseshoe Bats are amongst those noted at the latter site.

@Brumbats do an awful lot of work to conserve our Bats aswell as all the important surveys and rehabilitation necessary for thier survival. They are still on the look out for Barbastelle and Bechstien's Bats which lie just outside of our grasp as a county record.

If you ever get the chance seeing Daubenton's Bats hunting over water, take it, it's a sight like no other. They are agile hunters who skim the waters surface after insects. If youre very still and quiet they'll get very close too, teamed up with a Bat detector youll recognise the almost machine gun like call.

I saw your post that people are turning away from Alicent because their ship/headcanon or whatever doesn't happen, I agree with you. It's sad actually, like people only cared about their ship, but not Alicent as a character. I've seen some people change their icons from Alicent to other characters only because alicole happens. Or some people start calling her “straight bitch” and reject her. It's sad because Alicent has so many haters and it looks like she got even more :/ Don't these people want their character to be a little happier with no matter who? Although she was probably never a favorite character for these people

Yeah it is really sad, and it’s only gotten worse now that the episode has already premiered :( tbh I feel like those fans didn’t really care about Alicent *or* Rhaenyra, as they constantly said horrible things about Rhaenyra and never seemed to actually like or enjoy her as a character, which always confused me, because I don’t understand how you have an OTP where you absolutely can’t stand one of the characters. So I honestly don’t even know what those people were watching the show for. It sucks because I like the ship but it’s going the way of F*nnr*y because of how hostile the shippers are to any other ship/multishippers.

DAY 24 - 9/5/2024

Hi everybody. Welcome back. Today I woke up around 10 today because I was meeting with a friend to go to target and we bought some snacks for a little social that we had later on today. We got like a sample of Ramen on the way down and got free microwavable bowls. At target we bought chips cookies Capri Sun and chocolate for each other. We headed back up the hill and we got decaf with another friend and I got a very raspberry smoothie. After that I went to rendezvous to meet with another friend and I got lunch. I ate the California burrito special today however I was not that hungry so I did not finish it. After that I went to my room and watched my lecture in my bed and felt really relaxing. After that I spoke to my boyfriend for a bit but I got really sleepy so I took a nap. But I have been feeling so sick since that nap and I have no idea why I’m just trying to live. I woke up and headed down to Sunset and we played spike ball and football and had pizza it was a lot of fun. After that I had a meeting with my alumni and it was very cool meeting him. And then I had a meet up with another friend and we got Chick-fil-A. Then headed to meet with some friends club and we ended up at NNR but I did not get anything. I slept around six hours last night. I rate my day a 5/10. (1:39am)
