Papers Please…
If enacted, this legislation would place Florida among the most oppressive regimes against transgender individuals worldwide.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – In one of the most extreme bills of the last decade targeting transgender individuals, a new bill introduced on Thursday afternoon in Florida seeks to end all legal recognition of transgender people and mandates mass biological sex affidavits for both transgender and cisgender Floridians.
These affidavits would be necessary at the DMV for license renewals, enabling the state to gather records of the biological sex of all individuals in Florida who apply for driver’s licenses. The affidavits could allow the state to compile lists of transgender people with Florida driver’s licenses.
They could then be used to enforce other anti-trans laws in the state. Additionally, the bill would impact every law in Florida that references sex, effectively removing all legal recognition of transgender people in the state.

I saw somewhere that Dean wouldn’t date a black girl. Which is crazy because his ex was black and they had sex in season 1. Dean for sure definitely likes him a black woman. Hell he likes any type of woman
Hey anon!
Ugh, the way you know racism is still alive and well, even in fandom. 🙄 The idea that he "wouldn't date a black girl" is just plain ridiculous, and it upsets me for many reasons, being a Latina POC myself.
To start, they introduced Cassie Robinson as the one person Dean tried to entrust the "family secret" to --
AKA: the first girl he genuinely loved. A smart, fearless, badass woman not afraid to call out indiscretions and fight for the truth about her father's murder.
As a matter of fact, that entire episode (1x13) was about interracial couples, systematic racism, and breaking the cycle of social segregation, as symbolized through the Cassie x Dean relationship.
As for Dean and Cassie themselves, they had incredible chemistry. ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 To the point where I still think about the song playing during their steamy scene together ("Paradise" by Sharif), and I still use some of the Dean x Cassie gifs for my reader stories:
(And more about your "Dean likes any type of woman" comment below, because I definitely agree.)
They had a beautiful and tragic "weren't meant to be" story, but it doesn't take away from the love they had for each other and being one of the few meaningful, genuine romantic connections Dean had on the show.
"Dean likes any type of woman":
Very much agree! Dean doesn't discriminate, not with race, ethnicity, or body type. We've seen him hit on just about any lovely lady loll, from his love of Busty Asian Beauties, or when he tried to hit on Kali in season 5. 😂
When Donna tells Sam and Dean her husband said she loved chocolate chip cookie dough milkshakes more than him, I believe Dean immediately called him a douchebag, no hesitation. He supported her like this more than once.
And let's not forget this exchange in 9.13, when talking to a victim's loved one who had an affair with a heftier man:
Mala: “What can I say? Sometimes it’s nice to feel a little give.”
Dean *has an epiphany*: “Oh. Yeah, I get that. A little extra cushion for the, uh…” *fist pounding motion* (lmfao)
Hell, I've written an entire series about why Dean would be attracted to, and fall for, a POC plus-sized Latina. It's called the Midnight Espresso series.
All that being said, anyone who says Dean doesn't like or wouldn't date black women, other women of color, or certain body types is projecting their own narrow-minded, prejudiced, and/or potentially bigoted ideals. 🙅🏽♀️

Dean Obeidallah for CNN:
“America may soon be subjected to the country’s first DEI president: Kamala Harris,” screamed the headline of an op-ed in The New York Post on Saturday penned by Fox Business senior correspondent Charles Gasparino. The longtime media figure began his article by slamming Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programs as “literally destroying businesses.” Gasparino then took aim at the vice president, writing that “the American public may soon be subjected to DEI writ large in the next president of the United States, if Kamala Harris finds her way to the top of the Democratic ticket.” Gasparino’s suggestion that Harris only got to where she is because of diversity programs — not because she earned it — is despicable. It reeks of the white supremacist myth that people of color are inherently inferior to white people and, therefore, we achieve success and positions of influence not on the merits, but only with the help of a diversity program. (I once was called a “quota hire” years ago on social media by a Fox News frequent guest because at the time I was the first Muslim hired to host a national radio show.)
Gasparino’s use of “DEI hire” apparently to demean the achievements of a person of color is far from the first time we’ve seen this. In fact, just last week, GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado took a page from this same vile playbook in a social media post attacking White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre. Boebert — who in the past suggested that Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who is Muslim, was a terrorist — was apparently upset with Jean-Pierre’s comments about Biden’s workday being many hours longer than she believed to be true, so she smeared her as a “discredited DEI hire.” Earlier this year, the same DEI-as-insult line was used to attack the Black mayor of Baltimore, Brandon Scott, after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. Scott responded to the smears by stating, “We know what these folks really want to say when they say ‘DEI mayor.” He added bluntly, “They really want to say the N-word.” The mayor later gloriously trolled the bigots, telling MSNBC that the acronym “DEI” actually stands for “duly-elected incumbent.”
[...] There’s no hiding what’s intended with these types of attacks. In fact, Gasparino was not shy on this point, writing Harris was only picked by Biden as his running mate in 2020 because as a Black woman she “checked all the boxes.” Never mind the fact that Harris had been a public servant for more than 16 years at the time: first as an elected district attorney of San Francisco, and later as the elected attorney general for the state of California, where she oversaw the largest state justice department in the country. In that office, she successfully secured billions of dollars in damages from unscrupulous businesses that had preyed on Californians. Nor does it matter to her detractors that Harris was then elected to the US Senate in 2016, where she made a name for herself with her service on the Judiciary and Intelligence committees. Nope, Gasparino apparently attributes her many achievements to her being given preferential treatment because of her race and gender. He predicted that if President Joe Biden ends up remaining on the 2024 ticket and wins, it’s unlikely he would physically be able to serve four years. The result, he says, is that “Harris becomes the nation’s first DEI president by default.” Of course, none of what Gasparino said was written in a vacuum. It’s in keeping with efforts by Republicans to try to discredit both the achievements by people of color as well as efforts to address our nation’s past acts of racism and racial discrimination. That’s been evident for months, as GOP-led legislatures rush to enact laws restricting and even outlawing DEI programs in education, state government, contracting, pension investments and other aspects of civic life.
Dean Obeidallah wrote on CNN’s website calling out the racist attack of labeling Vice President Kamala Harris a “DEI hire” by Fox Business reporter and New York Post contributor Charles Gasparino. The “DEI hire” line said by right-wingers like Gasparino is nothing more than vile racism.

Oh my gods, you know what would be the perfect "Who's the most bigoted?" fight?
Man, I would kill for this. They would either fight endlessly, or end up becoming frenemies who make every ist and phobic jokes under the sun together.
If you're here from one tag and don't know who the other is:
Pierce Hawthorn, the guy on the left, is from a show called Community, about a group of people who become a sort of Found Family in a community college. It's wild, has canon AU episodes, some bigger names appear like Jack Black and Betty White (She shoots a guy with an old weapon, if I recall correctly), Keith David and Jonathan Banks become more permanent members, Donald Glover is a main member (and a fan favorite) for most of it. The Dean is a gay guy who dresses in drag but he's an enjoyable character, It's wild.
Yul, the guy on the right, is from a popular 3-seasons-in Total Drama fan project called Disventure Camp. It was originally a fan-made sequel, but legally they had to cut back on the TDI stuff and the most they could do was make the 2nd season's host the daughter of Chris McLean without explicitly stating his name. It is a little more mature than Total Drama, and has more LGBTQ+ rep.
Both are, as I've mentioned, are every ist and phobic under the sun. But they're also both enjoyable because they can be funny. And do have other characters who had their back at some point.

₊✩‧₊˚౨ ℋℯ𝓁𝓁ℴ, 𝓂𝓎 𝓁ℴ𝓋ℯ𝓈! ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
My name is Charlie, and this page is going to be very miscellaneous.
As a basic overview of me, I'm 19 years old, trans (he/him) and I really like plants! I have ADHD and a number of other blogs, so this one might be very erratically updated, which I apologize for in advance. I call pretty much everyone love, doll, and/or dear, so if that makes you uncomfortable, please please please let me know so I don't upset or harm you in any way. I also (attempt to) flirt quite a lot, so, again, tell me if that makes you uncomfortable.
If you couldn't tell, I really love Coraline. That and Across the Spider-Verse are my favorite films. I love psychological films and psychology in general, so if you have any recommendations of movies that will fuck up my head, please let me know!
Some things that might be featured on this blog~
。°✩ Music I Like~ this can range from hard rock to K-pop to 2020 music from POVs to David Bowie (I adore Bowie). My favorite groups are Måneskin, Black Veil Brides, and Sleep Token. My favorite solo artists are Dean Lewis, Vana, Chappell Roan, Ashnikko, Hozier, and others. I'm sorry ToT I'm bad at picking favorites!! ✧°
。°✩ Poetry~ while I won't say I stand up against the greats, I'm not a horrid poet and am interested in sharing it. I'll also be reblogging other poetry, because the poets of tumblr are wonderful and deserve the recognition. ✧˖°
。°✩ Art~ again, I'm no Monet, but I'm not the worst artist on this site. I'll likely be sharing here, as I can't share on any other platform and if my art can make someone smile or feel something, I've accomplished my goal. Of course, I'll reblog other people's art, too, especially fanart of my favorite things. ✧˖°
。°✩ Religion~ you might even find the occasional religious or spiritual post from me, as I'm pagan and have a lot of (apparently strange) spiritual beliefs. I'm primarily Hellenic, however I do follow Loki and, while I don't follow every god, I do believe in every god, even the Christian one (I don't like him, though. Jesus is cool.) I'd like a bit more into astrology and the like, so if anyone knows any resources for that, please let me know! The tags will be #wybiespaganismreblogs and #wybiespaganism. ✧˖°
。°✩ Mental Health~ I have undiagnosed (but I fit damn near every parameter for) ADHD, autism, and anxiety, and I also have an eating disorder. Every post about food will have a "tw food" tag, and every ED post will have a "tw ed" tag as well because I know they can be harmful. I struggle a lot with executive dysfunction, mental spirals, social anxiety, and intrusive thoughts, and I figure that if I share my own experiences, I can help others and they can help me! ✧˖°
。°✩ Fandom Nonsense~ I'm a bit of a dork, so I'll be posting a lot of little nerd things. This primarily will include Harry Potter (and Marauders), MCU, Criminal Minds, Percy Jackson Universe, ACOTAR, Miraculous Ladybug, and others. I've recently decided I want to start getting into anime and have watched a bit of Spy X Family, so if anyone has any recommendations, I only really have Netflix, Hulu, and I definitely don't use pirating sites because those aren't safe and they're harmful to the economy. The tags will be #wybiesfandomnonsense. ✧˖°
Basic DNI! Zionists, antisemitics, Islamophobes, radical conservatives, homophobes, transphobes, zoophiles, anti therian or furry, racists, misogynistic, science or Holocaust deniers, religious bigots, racial bigots, classists, generally cruel or bigoted individuals, people who will attempt to convert me or send me nudes, or overall dickfaces.
There is not an MDNI, but minors, please don't try to DM me without prior consent; I have no filter and don't feel like doin' time. Ageless blogs as well, unless specifically marked as adult.

Lovecraft: millions of years ago, the Old Ones flourished upon the continent Lovecraft: they built a society dedicated to pure scientific achievement Lovecraft: yet, in the cruelest irony Lovecraft: they were overwhelmed by sheer brute strength Barker: lol Barker: get owned nerds
Lovecraft: i-it was a most grand civilization Lovecraft: accomplished universities. safe to slither the streets at night Lovecraft: and then a certain kind of creature Lovecraft: i shall not say whom Lovecraft: took over Lovecraft: and the property values... they plummeted
Derleth: okay look i'm getting a little sick of all of you calling Howard a bigot Derleth: i keep telling you he's simply a man of his time Lovecraft: the shoggoths were faceless slaves of the deepest black hue Lovecraft: possessing a fiendish malevolence to compensate for their lack of a brain Derleth: Derleth: oh and i suppose you're just going to take THAT out of context
Lovecraft: most chilling of all the shoggoths' attributes was their infernal piping Lovecraft: it imitated the structure of the Old Ones' music Lovecraft: but it was as if they spoke rather than harmonized it Lovecraft: and inserted coarse references to anatomy
Lovecraft: there were indeed some horrors in this house Lovecraft: and they were wet and gushy Lovecraft: no bucket or mop would suffice
Lovecraft: they escaped with their lives, yet Danford was tormented by visions of the shoggoth unto madness Lovecraft: for knowledge of the unknown has a terrible price, and death and ignorance are our only mercies Lovecraft: the end Derleth: Barker: Poe: Koontz: King: King: so, Dean, I have this DVD of Norm of the North
John W. Campbell: say, that's a pretty good yarn, but couldn't more happen with the shapeshifting Campbell: what if the shoggoth was able to fully mimic its human prey Lovecraft: fully ASSIMILATED among men? Lovecraft: there is cosmic horror, sir, and then there is simply bad taste

so recently, for some reason, there have been a lot of people and accounts on my dash who are arguing against race-swapping - making white characters poc specifically - in the hp/marauders fandom and usually i stick to the mindset of "ship and let ship, headcanon and let headcanon" but oh my GOD, guys
there are some main arguments i've seen for why making white hp characters poc is "bad", and i will try my best to debunk all of them in a way that makes sense considering how done i am with this whole problem
i would also like to preface this by saying I AM WHITE. i am a white person who thinks race-swapping is a good thing in the hp fandom because it adds representation. anyways, onto the arguments:
1: what if a canon poc character was made white in fanfic/art? how would you feel then?
i'm sorry but when have you seen anybody doing that? there's a reason this argument starts with "what if" and not "remember when". if people are race-swapping, it's because they're looking to ADD representation.
2: but we already have so many amazing canon poc characters!
yeah, there are canon poc characters. remind me how many of them directly effect harry's life in a significant way? sure, there's cho, who he likes and goes on a date or two with. there's pavarti, who he went to the yule ball with. there's kingsley shacklebolt (just for the record, naming one of few canon black characters shacklebolt is a choice, but that's not what this post is about), who is a member of the order and the eventual minister for magic. there's lee, who runs potterwatch. there's angelina, who plays quidditch with harry, and there's dean, his roommate.
yes, there are canon poc characters who have speaking lines and help harry and make him feel things. but who are the main characters in the story? harry, ron, and hermione. who are harry's mentors? sirius and dumbledore. who does harry marry? ginny. who teaches him the patronus charm? remus. who's the mother of his godson? tonks. who's he fighting? voldemort.
see the problem here? none of those people, not ONE OF THEM, is a person of color. the point of race-swapping is not to undermine preexisting characters of color, it's to make the main cast - aka the people getting the most attention - more diverse. if you make even a few of those people poc - harry, hermione, remus - you're making a story that a lot more people can relate to, which is potentially a story a lot more people want to read. how many characters did i suggest changing? THREE. three. i am not going to go through and make sure there are no white people bc white people are evil. i am saying that it's not fair to argue for the already-existing poc characters when they're often going to be left on the sideline, as people making this argument well know.
3: it's just not necessary.
isn't a big part of fanfiction - and writing as a whole - to make characters you and others can relate to? if someone can relate more to hermione if she's black and this doesn't change the story drastically, all it does is attract more people, how is that a problem?
newsflash, people, jk rowling did a lot of things wrong. i'm not just talking about her own transphobia and sexism and etc etc, i'm talking about in her writing. if someone holds bigoted views, those will translate into their stories.
all poc characters exist to move the main white trio's story forward - cho is harry's first girlfriend and she barely gets a mention when they break up, pavarti goes to the yule ball with him and is rarely seen after that, lee is always in the background until he's doing something (running potterwatch) that benefits people. even characters like mary macdonald and dorcas meadowes are only mentioned in passing in relation to death eaters or voldemort.
harry potter is not a story about a white guy and all the poc people who stand by his side and are actively part of him saving the world, it is about a white guy and his white friends, family, and mentors who occasionally have character development because of an interaction with a poc. changing this isn't necessarily a bad thing.
4: but REALISTICALLY, this number of poc people makes sense because...
THIS IS A STORY ABOUT MAGIC PEOPLE. PEOPLE CAN TURN INTO ANIMALS AND FLY AROUND ON CARPETS AND BROOMS. why do you only care what's "realistic" when it's about non-white people?
5: every race deserves respect!
this is true. idk if you've noticed, but white people have been very respected throughout... idk, most of human history? this gives off the vibe of people who say "all lives matter"... that's true, but let's focus on the lives being threatened, right? that is to say, yes, all races deserve respect, but let's focus on the ones that aren't already respected (aka non-white races)
6: you have to COMMIT to it! if you're just changing their skin tone and/or saying "they're x race", that's lazy representation and they might as well be white.
so i've seen this one a lot, and i do agree that if there's going to be poc representation, it should be good! and yknow what? i've seen a LOT of good poc rep. sure, sometimes it's just a passing mention of harry or james's skin tone, but i've also seen stories with mentions of culture and food and even different names that are from their culture. i've seen people who focus on improving the minimal representation of canon poc characters while ALSO adding good rep for non-canon poc characters.
another thing about this argument: let's take a look at canon, shall we? when, in any time other than what the patil twins wear to the ball, is there a mention of a poc's culture? pretty much nowhere. if this is your argument, you have to realize that this "lazy representation" is EXACTLY what happened with canon poc.
-
you don't have to agree with everything i said, and i know some of this was probably incorrect or not quite right since i haven't read the books in a while. that doesn't change my argument, though, which is that race-swapping when it means adding more representation is not a bad thing.
if anybody has anything to add on or anything to say about my comments on canon, feel free to comment/reblog with that :)

Pro-Palestinian groups at Harvard University, including one comprising faculty and staff, reignited the controversy over campus antisemitism over the long weekend when they posted an antisemitic cartoon on their social media accounts.
The cartoon, which dates to the 1960s and was condemned when it was first published, showed a hand inscribed with a Star of David and a dollar sign holding ropes around the necks of a Black man and an Arab man.
Interim Harvard president Alan Garber condemned it as “flagrantly antisemitic” in a message to the Harvard community Tuesday evening.
The cartoon was included in a social media post Sunday by two Harvard student activist groups — the Palestine Solidarity Committee and the African and African American Resistance Organization — as part of a graphic about historical ties between the Black civil rights movement and pro-Palestinian advocacy.
Additional student groups and a pro-Palestinian faculty and staff group later posted the graphic on their own accounts.
“The cartoon is despicably, inarguably antisemitic,” Rabbi David Wolpe, a visiting scholar at Harvard Divinity School, wrote on social media Monday after a group called Harvard Faculty and Staff for Justice in Palestine posted the image online. “Is there no limit?”
The cartoon appears to have originated from a 1967 newsletter published by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee, a major player in the 1960s civil rights movement.According to a New York Times article at the time, the two men depicted with ropes around their necks are boxer Muhammad Ali and then-president of Egypt Gamal Abdel Nasser.
According to the Times article, the SNCC newsletter condemned what it described as atrocities committed by Zionists against Arabs. The Times quoted a then-director of the Anti-Defamation League saying the newsletter, which included the cartoon, “smacks very heavily of antisemitism.”
The graphic posted by the Harvard groups noted the “historical roots of solidarity” between the “Black liberation movements and Palestinian liberation.” It included the words, “The Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee likened Zionism to an imperial project. . .” beside an image of the cartoon.
A number of the Harvardorganizations that posted the graphic, including PSC, AFRO, and the faculty group, later took itdown. The faculty group apologized for posting it.
On a campus that has been riven by reports of resurgent antisemitism since Oct. 7 of last year, the posts provoked an uproar over the weekend.
University spokesperson Jason Newton called the social media posts “despicable.” Jeffrey Flier, a Harvard professor and former dean of Harvard Medical School, said in a social media post that there was “[n]o debate about this [cartoon] being antisemitic.” Harvard Chabad, a Jewish group, called it “Reprehensible. Bigoted. Hateful.”
“At a time when antisemitic incidents are at an all-time high and Holocaust denial is spreading both in the U.S. and abroad, Harvard faculty and students must understand and be held to account for the tremendous consequences of proliferating insidious tropes,” the Harvard Jewish Law Students Association said in a statement.
Newton said the matter is being referred to the Harvard College Administrative Board, which handles disciplinary proceedings for students and sanctioned student groups, such as the Palestine Solidarity Committee.
On Tuesday, Garber, who is Jewish, condemned the posts. “Perpetuating vile and hateful antisemitic tropes, or otherwise engaging in inflammatory rhetoric or sharing images that demean people on the basis of their identity, is precisely the opposite of what this moment demands of us,” he said in the message emailed to the Harvard community.
“The University will review the situation to better understand who was responsible for the posting and to determine what further steps are warranted,” he added.
ThePalestine Solidarity Committeeisthe same group that published a statement on Oct. 7 last year — the day of the Hamas-led attack on Israel — that plunged the university into turmoil after critics denounced it as justifying terrorism. “Today’s events did not occur in a vacuum,” the statement said. The group later said the statement was not a justification for violence against civilians, but rather sought to place the Hamas attack in the context of the long, violent Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
On Monday afternoon, as the backlash mounted, the two student groups took down the original graphic and replaced it with a new one that did not include the offensive cartoon. In a caption accompanying the new post, the groups said they had “inadvertently includ[ed] an image that played upon antisemitic tropes” and that the cartoon “was not reflective of our values as organizations.”
“Antisemitism has no place in the movement of Palestinian liberation, and we wholeheartedly disavow it in all its forms,” the groups said.
The faculty group removed the post from its Instagram account and issued a statement. “It has came to our attention that a post featuring antiquated cartoons which used offensive antisemitic tropes was linked to our account,” the group said. “We apologize for the hurt that these images have caused and do not condone them in any way.”
As of Monday morning, the faculty group listed more than 100 signatories on its website under a statement describing the group’s goals. They included faculty and staff from Harvard’s law school, medical school, college, and school of public health.
One of the group’s leaders was Walter Johnson, a professor of history and African and African American Studies, who was, as of last week, also the faculty adviser to PSC. He has since resigned from both groups, according to messages seen by the Globe.
In a statement Tuesday, Johnson said,“I was surprised and saddened by the posting of the images, as I know many others were, but I am no longer in a position to speak on behalf of any organization.”
At some time on Sunday or Monday, the faculty group removed the names of all signatories from its website, according to archived versions of the site. A spokesperson for the group did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
The social media posts were widely condemned over the weekend, including by critics from beyond Harvard’s walls. Bill Ackman, the billionaire hedge fund manager and Harvard alumnus who has led an activist campaign against Harvard over what he describes as runaway campus antisemitism, described the groups’ sharing of the cartoon as “grim” in a post on X, the social media platform.
The House Committee on Education and the Workforce, a congressional committee investigating Harvard over antisemitism allegations, wrote on its X account: “This repugnant antisemitism should have no place in our society, much less on Harvard’s faculty.”
That congressional investigation entered a new phase on Friday when chairwoman Virginia Foxx, a North Carolina Republican, said she was subpoenaing Harvard leaders, including interim president Garber. The subpoenas, reviewed by the Globe, would force Harvard to turn over a wide range of documents including disciplinary records, minutes of board meetings, and internal communications.
Foxx has contended Harvard has failed to create an environment for Jewish students free from discrimination and harassment. Separately, several Jewish Harvard students are suing the school over similar allegations.
Garber, who took over the presidency after former president Claudine Gay’s resignation last month, has convened two task forces to combat antisemitism and Islamophobia, which students say have gotten worse since the Oct. 7 attack on Israel and Israel’s retaliatory war in the Gaza Strip.

competition info:
current bracket (will be updated as we go):
complete list of character names and their respective fandom under the readmore below.
submissions:
submit here: [google forms link]
submission rules: [tumblr post link]
SUBMISSIONS CLOSED!
poll info:
this poll is literally to cause tumblr drama because I’m bored. feel free to start discourse in tags or replies. I’m not a mod of my posts and I’m not monitoring my posts. do your thing.
reiterating this poll is for fun, and while I’ll try to keep it organized, I am not going out of my way to make a tumblr poll bracket I’m doing in my free time 100% bias-free or 100% optimized.
I reserve the right to add or remove ships to the initial bracket at my discretion, or to not answer all asks, or whatever else makes it more fun, short of actually changing results (I will let the people decide.) basically, if you have a problem with something about the way this competition is run, I don’t care.
I feel like this should go without saying but I do ascribe to the idea that some ships are inherently morally bad and deserve to be hated. I won’t post about all my opinions on the ships, but if a ship is predatory/offensive/has bigoted shippers I will join in calling it really bad, and I will not be accepting or starting anti/pro-shipper discourse here. it’s 2023, grow up and stop shipping incest.
polls will be posted in batches from their respective level on the bracket and will last a week before moving on to the next set. i.e. all of the first vs. polls will be posted at the same time until a week passes and they’re done, and then the winning ships will be noted and we’ll move on to the second level of the bracket and all of those polls will be up for a week, etc.
posts will be tagged via batches (”batch 1“, “batch 2″, etc), ships, and fandom.
I will be trying to seed it properly based on ship prestige, number of submissions, and common sense. if you have an issue with it after all of that, send a text form complaint to 1-800-YOUR-MOM to file necessary feedback.

Ok, so this is Claudine Gay, the president of Harvard University. She’s the first Black woman to be head of Harvard in its history. And yet for all that, she’s basically your run of the mill bigot that has ruled Harvard for most of its existence.
When the Supreme Court came down with the decision striking down affirmative action as practiced by Harvard (where they discriminated against disfavored minorities to favor other minorities), she didn’t welcome the ruling. Dr. Gay said it was not going to change Harvard’s values.
Harvard gets to be one of the top countries in the US because it’s been around since before th country was founded. With that longevity, comes money and an old boy network that kept Harvard regarded, unfairly, as something special. Its a name. But the part about its brand that has never really changed is that at its core, Harvard loves bigotry. It did have quotas for Jews, deliberately trying to keep them out for decades. It kept the numbers of African Americans to a minimum. There were 3 Black students admitted, on average, to each class between 1890 and 1940. By the 1969, the student body had seen a slight change. Enrollment of African American students in the student body reached 7 percent.
So with this history of being a place that hated to admit Jews and Blacks, you would think they would be doing something to change the culture. All that has really happened is that the culture has changed to being actually worse, thanks to to a healthy dose of progressive intersectionalism. Now, the school is tolerating harassment of its Jewish students by supporters of Hamas (and yes, I take the position that if you are calling for “Free Palestine” and a ceasefire, you are offering your support to Hamas. Own up to it.)
Dr. Gay repeatedly takes the position that the use of phrases like “intifada” and “From the River to the Sea” are personally abhorrent to her but that Harvard seeks to foster free speech. Is an interesting way to phrase it. It’s also, based on her history I believe, absolutely a lie.
Why? Because when Dr. Gay finds something personally abhorrent, she does something about it. She tried to penalize people to the extent she has the power to do so.
For example, let’s take the Winthrop House Dean controversy. In 2019, when Harvey Weinstein started to have criminal legal troubles, one of his defense team was a Harvard faculty member and Dean of Winthrop House, Ronald Sullivan. Gay lead the charge to have Sullivan penalized for defending Weinstein, eventually succeeding in having Sullivan removed as Dean of Winthrop House. Gay didn’t anyone representing Weinstein because she, rightly, found what Weinstein did abhorrent. She then ensured that Harvard penalized Sullivan for Weinstein’s sins and for the unforgivable sin of acting as legal counsel for the man.
So Dr. Gay found it personally abhorrent. When she finds something personally abhorrent, she takes action. And she made sure that a man was penalized by losing his position.
And lets not kid ourselves about Harvard. It’s a name. It is not a place that is welcoming to controversial ideas that deviate from its far left theological position. Conservative voices are barely tolerated when they are allowed to speak at Harvard.
But as of yet, I cannot find an instance when the SJP and/or Muslim Students Association have ever been penalized for what they are saying when it comes to the harassment of Jewish students. I can find videos of pro-Hamas supporters harassing Jewish students who showed support for Israel.
This is not to say I’m abandoning my stance on the 1st Amendment and free speech in general. I hate university speech codes. I think they foster the antisemitism and violent progressive ideas because they are not allowed to be countered. They are being protected by Dr. Gay and her administrators… while using money, tax money, given to them by the government in a variety of ways.
So when Dr. Gay wont come out and condemn the calls for “intifada” or “From the River to the Sea” - because the most she will say is the language is abhorrent, not that it violates Harvard’s speech code, not that it shouldn’t be used, and certainly not that it is being used to bully Jewish students - she may as well be setting off a laser show display that indicates that she approves of the message. She is not a woman who has ever been shy about going after people trying to exercise their free speech that she does not approve of. Even if it means hurting their livelihood.
Dr. Gay performance leads to one conclusion: she is just as much an antisemitic bigot as Lowell was back at the beginning of the last century when he set up the policy to excludes Jews. Dr. Gay seems to want to drive them from the school through antisemitism.

am i the only one who feels weird abt kurtis connors recent video abt h/p? idk i feel like its just giving even more publicity to the author and almost feels like its giving people a pass on interacting with it in a "woke" way, despite him not even being part of the groups hurt by that series. Theres also the fact that he seems to still be chill with a guy who did blackface (his friend dean) which makes it all feel. wrong-er
okay so i don’t know about the issue with Dean (because i don’t know who Dean is), so THAT i will look into and get back to you on that if that’s okay because condoning / excusing black face? are you fucking kidding me?
i know someone named Kuncan (something, forgot his last name) on YouTube does a bit of a deep dive into this so im gonna look through that as well, because that’s irresponsible and downright abhorrent of Kurtis to not at least SAY something
as for the HP video, i didn’t get too far into it but i did see him talk about JK Rowling’s bigotry and openly condemn her words and support of bigoted people
that being said, you did bring up a very good point about it bringing attention to HP and he’s not impacted by the horrible vitriol that she spreads so i very much do get your concern
so as someone that’s not aware of this situation with Dean and not finished with the video, i don’t think it’s fully bad that he’s covering HP adults since he’s done this with Disney adults BUT i think that’s something that needs to be taken more into consideration
TL;DR Anon your feelings on this matter are completely justified and i’m not at all gonna tell you you’re thinking too much about it — i think you brought up very good points

Dean Obeidallah at The Dean's Report:
Donald Trump doesn’t care that his lie accusing Haitian immigrants in Springfield, Ohio of eating people’s pets is causing a spike in anti-immigrant hate incidents in the area or was the reason for a bomb threats Thursday morning targeting the local government and local schools on Friday. It also doesn’t matter if you fact check Trump on this BS claim. This is not about the truth. Nobody—I mean nobody—understands what animates, radicalizes and incites his base to vote, make threats and commit violence more than Trump. That is why he is targeting both Black people and immigrants with his lies. This is racism for a purpose. He gets that with one lie, he is targeting two communities that MAGA hates: Blacks and immigrants.
As we all recall, Trump--as President--slammed the idea of accepting more immigrants from Haiti and Africa calling them “shithole countries.” Instead, Trump stated he wanted more people coming in from places like Norway aka white people. Trump’s base loved that. That is why during the debate Tuesday, Trump repeatedly fear-mongered about non-white people coming over the border, declaring, “What they have done to our country by allowing these millions and millions of people to come into our country.” He then added the now infamous line, “In Springfield, they're eating the dogs…they're eating the cats. They're eating the pets of the people that live there.”
ABC News co-moderator David Muir instantly fact checked Trump saying “ABC News did reach out to the city manager there. He told us there have been no credible reports” of any animals being treated that way by immigrants. But Trump remained defiant, saying, “But the people on television say their dog was eaten by the people that went there.” When Muir factchecked Trump again, he then offered this ominous line, “We'll find out.” Trump’s lie at the debate about Haitian immigrants was something his base has been worked up about for days—as Trump knows. The first prominent right winger to amplify the lie was Trump’s close ally Charlie Kirk—who has a history of making racist comments about Blacks--posting just days before the debate on Twitter that “residents of Springfield, OH are reporting that Haitians are eating their family pets.” His post was viewed more than 4 million times.
Trump’s son, Donald Jr. then amplified the lie on social media that Black migrants were kidnapping and eating people’s cats and dogs. Next Elon Musk -the owner of Twitter and vocal Trump backer--did the same. That got the attention of the Trump campaign. If the MAGA base believes/loves the claim Black immigrants are such savages that they are eating people’s pets, they were going to join. That is why on Monday, Trump’s running mate JD Vance claimed in his post viewed more than 10 million times that “reports now show people have had their pets abducted and eaten by people who shouldn’t be in this country.” A short time later on Monday, as the NY Times reported, the Trump campaign did a massive email blast to their supporters quoting the lie about the Black immigrants.
[...] In reality, Springfield residents have overall been welcoming to the Haitian immigrants to their community over the past four years. Jamie McGregor the head of McGregor Metal, a family-owned business in Springfield, told The New York Times how it was lacking workers after it had invested to increase production before "the Haitians were there to fill those positions." Joe Ruck, a co-owner of Champion City Cuts Barber Shop, told USA Today that Haitian immigrants are working the jobs no one else wanted. But Trump’s lies have embolden the haters in Springfield. As Newsweek documented, there has now been a surge in vile comments directed online and in person against Springfield’s Haitian community. A 19-year-old, who graduated from Springfield High School and now works at an Amazon warehouse said he has been called a "dirty Haitian" and an "illegal."
[...] Despite many officials warning that Trump’s lie will lead to violence against the Haitian community or Blacks in general, he refuses to stop. On Thursday night in the midst of this backlash and after the bomb threats, Trump again repeated the lie to his supporters at a rally in Arizona, telling them “20,000 illegal Haitian immigrants have descended on a town of 58,000 people, destroying their way of life.” (The Haitians in Springfield are in the US legally.) The convicted felon added the lie that these migrants are “walking off with their pets.” And earlier on Thursday, Trump posted five digitally doctored photos on social media of himself saving pets from migrants—including the racist image at the top of this article where Trump is saving a white cat from angry Black people.
Dean Obeidallah’s column on the Springfield Cat-Eating Hoax is spot-on. Donald Trump, JD Vance, and the right-wing media’s racist and xenophobic scapegoating of Haitian migrants has led to bomb threats and a rise in anti-immigrant hatred in Springfield, Ohio.

Supernatural Season 1 Ep. 13 "Route 666"
Dean is contacted by Cassie, an African-American girl, who asks him to come to Missouri to investigate racially motivated murders. Each murder is linked to a mysterious truck with no driver or tracks. Sam is surprised to see Dean's new side as Dean tries to deal with his feelings for Cassie.
If you want to watch the series for yourself, stop reading! This post contains spoilers to the storyline.
Cape Girardeau, Missouri
A man is driving alone at night when his radio breaks up. A big black pickup truck suddenly hits the car from behind and chases it for a bit, then disappears as the radio clears up. The truck suddenly reappears, heading straight for him. The driver turns around and the truck chases him, hitting him and wrecking the car. The truck stops by the wreck, then leaves.
The brothers are heading for Pennsylvania when Dean gets a call from an old friend. Her father died the previous night. Cassie was an old friend of Dean's. Sam is surprised and upset that Dean told her what they do. Cassie and her father's friend Jimmy work for the paper and are meeting the mayor about her father's death and another black man's death. The mayor is unhelpful. Cassie says there was only one set of tracks at each site and no signs of a collision. Cassie's mother arrives and is upset. That night, the same black truck kills Jimmy.
The Winchesters look into the accident the next day and Mayor Todd is still unhelpful. He says Cassie's mother can explain why he isn't racist. Later, the brothers meet a friend of Jimmy's. They say they're insurance investigators and ask about the black truck. One of the workers knows about a truck involved in the death of a black men in the 60s and says the townsfolk are bigoted. Dean thinks the truck is a ghost connected t the Robinsons. Sam says Dean and Cassie should sort out their unfinished business. Sam thinks Cassie dumped Dean after he told her their secret.
That night, Dean and Cassie argue and have sex.
The next morning, Mayor Todd is in a field checking plans when a black truck pulls up. He runs and it runs him over. Cassie and Dean talk about how Dean's history scared her and she pushed him away. Dean makes excuses, but she stops him. Then they hear about Todd's murder. He was killed on the Dorian family property, who owned the newspaper. One Dorian, Cyrus, disappeared 40 years ago. Todd had the house bulldozed and the first murder took place the next day.
That night, Cassie is at home when the lights flicker and a black truck appears outside. She closes the shutters, but the truck keeps coming. She calls Dean, but the truck has gone by the time the boys arrive.
Dean thinks the driver wants to scare them. They confront Mrs. Robinson. She says her husband Martin knew who the truck belonged to - Cyrus Dorian. She says he died, and Dean notices. She dated Cyrus and was seeing Martin secretly because of their interracial relationship. She broke up with Cyrus and he was angry. Black men started going missing. The night before she and Martin were to be married, someone set fire to the town's church, killing a children's choir that had been practising inside. Cyrus kidnapped Martin and beat him with a bat. Martin escaped and killed Cyrus. He and two friends buried Cyrus and his truck in a swamp. She says Todd was a deputy then and covered it up.
That night, Sam and Dean are outside the Robinson home. They think Cyrus's spirit was asleep in the swamp until Todd's renovation plan woke him up. They must find the body in the swamp. They pull up the truck and burn the corpse. But then the black truck appears across the field. Their plan has failed.
Dean thinks the fire didn't destroy Cyrus's spirit in the truck. He drives off to lure the truck away and tells Sam to burn the original truck. Sam figures out something and calls Cassie while they chase the truck. Dean is close to the black truck. Sam calls him to tell him where he is. He tells Dean to go to a specific spot on a road and stop. Dean stops and turns the car around. The truck appears at the end of the road. The truck speeds towards Dean, but shatters and vanishes. Dean is at the church that Cyrus burned down. Sam figured the ghost whould destroy itself if it crossed hallowed ground.
Later, Cassie and Dean say goodbye. Cassie isn't sure they'll meet again, but Dean is sure they'll be together. Back on the road, Sam asks if Dean has ever thought about giving up. Dean just smiles.

Dog Hounding an O’Neill
Only a reptile zoologist by gene, can dog charm an O’Neill, as opposed to a Jew (medical tradition with a dietary practice) with the name.
We had Mary Magdelene’s gene, kill the phalanges necessary to breed one, through a Gaelic Queen’s family, Judas Didymus Thoms, Doubting Thomas, the purpose of the Uprising in Judea.
Witch hunters through snake charming churches did all the work for us.
