cm punk is a narcissist, a disgrace to pro wrestling & i hope his fans are finally getting it.

the situation between him & the elite is his fault. he attacked them. he called them out. he started the beef with colt cabana even if he didn’t directly have him blacklisted in aew. how? by being an asshole and walking out of wwe because they didn’t put him in the main event on wrestlemania instead of daniel bryan.

this after 2 years of building the entire company around punk, letting him beat john cena, be the champ for over a year, drop the title to the rock!!! and work taker at mania. somehow this wasn’t enough for him?

punk was the hottest thing in wwe in 2011 because he was the top heel and his angle/promo about quitting went viral. it was great tv and got some fans back into wwe (many were already coming back for the rock vs john cena) but cm punk didn’t equal ratings or much fan support as a babyface. being a top heel doesn’t = being a top face. punk thought he had this austin 3:16 moment but literally the only crowd who really loved him is chicago.

you can say his babyface push wasn’t strong enough. he didn’t get to play austin like he planned. but they gave him the pg-rated champ push they gave cena and would give bryan and roman. guess what? he failed. people liked him better as a heel. why? because phil brooks is a heel irl. when he plays a nice, friendly, heroic, rule-abiding guy its insincere and fans know it.

he got to be a face throughout 2013 and it sucked even tho he got to work brock lesnar. wwe groomed him to be the #2 babyface, replacing randy orton who was having personal problems and was being the heel for daniel bryan. punk should’ve taken that position. the audacity of him walking out because he didn’t think beating triple h at wm was a good enough prize...

triple h is such a professional wrestler. here’s a guy who never wanted to be the #1 guy like rock or austin or cena. he knew his limitations and settled for the top heel or #2 babyface. he earned that respect and made a fortune by having that position for decades, through good and bad business. thats what punk could’ve had.

instead cm punk went to ufc, looked like a fool getting demolished after years of stalling and training only to look like inept. all of pro wrestling looked bad because of him and ufc got the rub. meanwhile, the idiot cult punk convinced he was “the best in the world” were heckling wwe with “cm punk” chants and crapping on roman reigns for not being a pipebomb-cutting indie darling like dean ambrose or a chickenshit punk rock heel like seth rollins. instead roman came up the same way all the champs did: he earned it by doing tons of jobs, taking abuse from fans, learning how to have 30 minute main events with the toughest, biggest mega stars without disappointing or hurting anyone. all while he recovered from cancer and lost his brother. fuck the cm punk marks who jumped ship when aew started.

aew built itself off the cm punk cult. the bucks brought him even tho they’re the guys who are now most sick of him. but rumor is cody rhodes lost interest in aew because tony khan put so much interest in punk and other ex-wwe guys instead of using them to build aew’s original roster. now cody is a super babyface in a soaring wwe and aew is struggling because they put the company on the back of a 43 year old drama queen who was never a big draw, is unreliable, injury-prone, asks for too much money, can’t be sold as a legit tough guy & who wwe and ufc have zero interest in working with again. tony khan was a moron to make him the focus of aew. and he’s a bigger moron if he sides with punk over the 3 guys who built the company.

i’m sick of punk and i hope he gets fired and never pops up in wrestling again. he and his wife paved the way for today’s wrestlers but they did it for themselves. their egos and burying their companies, bosses and other talents made vince mcmahon afraid to give that same freedom to those who followed them. punk & aj acted like mega stars off of tiny brushes with fame. refusing to do jobs when they weren’t even established draws. yes, they were the best in-ring workers/promos/characters in their division. but for punk, not as a babyface. and aj following his example and trying to be the female cm punk made her unpopular in the locker room. wwe was cool enough to keep her as their women’s champ while her husband was trashing and suing them. and she followed him and left the company, sacrificing her own stardom for him. why? to live off his embarrassing and selfish business decisions? they’re both weak and deserve each other even tho i think she’s probably not as big a narcissist as he is. but she’s enabled him for a decade to be a total ass.

Enjoyed reading your Punk meta today; one thing that struck me was that it's possible Punk *might* replay a "WWE sucks" angle but from a different way -- some people have noticed he's did a few of John Cena's moves in the match with Eddie, and he wrapped up by doubling his finisher. (1/2)

con't: "I feel like Punk is pretty much an opportunist about the stories he tells, and is waiting to feel out how the audience would go with that angle-- but I gotta say, if he chooses to do a bit of a "you have become everything you hated" // "die the hero or live long enough to become the villain" angle in AEW; I'd be here to watch it happen ^_^ and it'd be an interesting way to team up the ex-WWE guys and take advantage of existing audience energy." That is 100% one of the possibilities I had thought of - and I think the most likely! I loved him as an underdog but I can't wait to see what happens and how they play it. I think the challenge for this is just how you make it "WWE sucks" without making that your national tv line. It just feels a fine line.

The phrase "my ring" to me holds the key to this - does he mean that he's going back to the best in the world/general arrogance? All rings are his ring because? And the GROWTH from "i don't know if I can hang with these guys, you know, its been seven years..." pre All-Out? what, you win 5 matches and suddenly you're hot shit again?!!?

Or does it mean he sees himself as the new Cena of AEW? The big name, the boss' best bet, the draw that can sell out on a rumor alone? I'd be super excited to see that honestly. A/N Hey y’all! So I finally decided to take the plunge and actually start writing my own yandere bnha fics after spending months thirst reading what others have written. I wanna give a quick shoutout to @yandere-love-love-love who kind of inspired my obsession love for Hawks with their amazing writing, and subsequently, this fic!

You remembered the first time you laid eyes on Keigo. It seemed like a lifetime ago, but really it was only a few months. Sure, you’d known about him for a long time. He was Hawks, the number 2 Pro-hero, you honestly didn’t think there’d be a single person in Japan who didn’t know who he was. His face was plastered across billboards and TV screens, his merch being repped right across the city. Everyone knew Hawks, but Keigo himself? Not so much.

Still, you’d been thrilled that day that your phone rang offering you the job at Hawks’ hero agency. It was only a secretary position, the pay was just barely above minimum wage, but you’d been so happy, of course you’d accepted! You were never meant to be a hero, but that didn’t mean that you couldn’t still help - by working for Hawks, even as a glorified receptionist, you were doing good things.

At least, that’s what he told you on that first day. You’d been a blushing, stammering mess as he walked you through the office, one hand resting gently on your shoulder and an easy going smile gracing his face. It was his agency, and technically he was going to be your boss, but you couldn’t hold back your surprise when he was the one greeting you on your first day.

Hawks was handsome and charming. You hadn’t been a fangirl of his, but it was hard to ignore the fluttering in your stomach as he walked you through your duties, every so often throwing in a wink or a joke just to see you blush.

“Do you know why I chose you, Y/N?”

Wide eyed you’d shaken your head. Truthfully, you hadn’t actually realised that he’d been the one to make the decision to hire you - he certainly hadn’t been at any of the interviews.

Hawks grinned, meeting your gaze as he leaned in close. “You didn’t apply for this job because you wanted to work for me, I don’t even think you care that I’m the number 2 pro-hero.” You’d hastily opened your mouth to correct him, but he’d just brushed it off with a soft laugh, “It’s fine, sweetheart, don’t sweat it. You don’t care about the rankings or the heroes, you just wanna make a difference, right?” He didn’t need you to confirm it, your naïve idealism all too apparent. “That’s why I hired you.”

Foolishly, you’d taken his words to heart.

Working with Hawks was… unexpected. For one, you hadn’t thought you’d be working quite so closely with him, but Keigo was a busy man and he was insistent. Short of his nightly patrols and the occasional villain attack, you were by his side in case he ever needed anything.

And for the most part, you liked your new job. Keigo kept you busy, but he was a fairly laid back boss, and he did care for his employees in an odd sort of way. On the nights he made you stay back at work with him, he always had food brought in and usually some wine as well. “It’s only fair,” he told you that first night as he uncorked the bottle, pouring you a glass despite your polite refusal. “I know working nights wasn’t part of your contract.”

There was a lot of work you did that wasn’t part of your contract - the late hours and early mornings, the coffee runs, prepping him for all of his media appearances, attending the benefits and charity events he went to, and on one odd occasion brushing his wings out after a particularly brutal fight… you could still remember the way he’d shivered under your hesitant touch and the soft, contented chirp he let slip as your fingers ran across his feathers.

And it wasn’t like you particularly enjoyed doing it, but it was hard to say no, especially when Hawks stared at you with those imploring, puppy dog eyes every time he asked.

There was no such thing as a perfect job, and even with the extra work it was still a thousand times better than ringing up groceries. By helping Hawks, you were helping others, right? Besides, it wasn’t like he didn’t look after you in return. The first pay rise came three weeks after you started - your eyes had widened as you saw the figure that had been deposited in your account, but when you’d shyly gone to Keigo about it, he’d just laughed. “You’re doing good work, sweetheart,” he said, squeezing your shoulder with that golden smile of his. “Only fair you get rewarded for it, hm?”

Sweetheart. Honey. He liked to call you pet names, he liked to flirt too. But it was all harmless, that was just how Keigo was, and while you’d never admit it out loud, there was a part of you that liked his flirting. He made you feel… seen. It was a nice little ego boost, if nothing else. You let a lot of things like that slide, telling yourself that it was all in your head, that Hawks was a hero and you were, well, you were a secretary with a fairly useless Quirk. What good was levitating if it was limited to a few inches off the ground?

Looking back, there were so many red flags and you ignored every single one - the innocent touches; a clap on your shoulder, a hand resting on your lower back as he guided you across the office to show you something, an accidental brush against your chest as he scooted past you. You didn’t notice the lingering stares while you worked, or the lazy smirk he wore whenever you bent down in front of him to pick something up. You didn’t even think twice the day that Hawks suggested you moved your desk out of your office and into his. “There’s plenty of space in here, besides, I like having you close,” he’d said with a wink.

Maybe if his agency had been bigger, if there’d been more people, more women around you might have noticed that the way he treated you wasn’t normal.

But you were naïve, and maybe Hawks liked you that way.

You should really have known that something wasn’t right the first time you turned him down when he asked you to stay back. By that stage, him asking was more a formality than anything else. Hawks liked to tease you about your lack of a social life but really he was the one who kept stealing all your free time.

“Dinner tonight?” he asked, barely lifting his eyes from his phone.

Your gut clenched uncomfortably. Truthfully, you’d been hoping he wouldn’t ask today. You’d even worked through your lunch break to try and get as much done as you could so you’d be able to leave on time. Sure, the new stats had just come in after lunch, but Hawks hated going through those things, he usually just left you to it. It wasn’t anything that couldn’t wait until the morning.

“Um, I’m sorry, Hawks-”

“Keigo, sweetheart,” he corrected, slowly putting down his phone as he met your gaze.

You blushed, quickly dropping your eyes to your desk as your fingers twisted in your lap. “Keigo. I-I can’t stay back tonight, I’ve got plans.”

He quirked an eyebrow, “Oh?”

He didn’t sound mad, more curious than anything. You swallowed, licking your lips before you continued. “A date, actually.”

Something shifted in his eyes, flickering past too quickly for you to put a name to it, but either way it made your heart skip a beat, an unfamiliar sense of unease settling into your stomach. “A date?” he repeated quietly.

“I can come in early tomorrow and stay back if you want, or… ” you trailed off, more to fill in the awkward silence than anything else.

And just like a switch flipped, the Hawks you knew returned. He broke out into a laugh, stretching out in his seat. “It’s fine, honey. Go, enjoy your date. I’ll see you bright and early tomorrow, right?”

You nodded quickly, even returning the smile with a hesitant one of your own.

The next day you’d arrived half an hour before you were supposed to start, but Hawks hadn’t breezed through the doors until well after nine, looking a little more tired and ruffled than usual. You’d been worried that after the awkwardness the night before that things would be tense, to say the least. But outside of asking whether you’d had a good time on your date (chuckling when you flushed pink and stammered out a yes), Hawks seemed content to let it go. “Just be careful, yeah? I don’t want you getting yourself hurt.”

You promised him you would, and things returned to normal.

At least, that’s what you thought. You didn’t notice the way that Hawks’ golden eyes followed you as you walked from room to room, you didn’t question it when he handed you a new cell phone to replace the one that mysteriously broke one day. “Consider it a gift,” he’d told you.

And you didn’t question it when almost a week later, he sat himself down on your desk and asked whether you were free to work late.

“Yeah, I can stay back tonight. You want to run through the new media campaign?”

Hawks had just signed a big partnership deal to be the face of a new sports drink and the company had sent over a list of promos and appearances they wanted Keigo to do.

You missed the odd gleam in his eyes when he spoke next, “No hot dates tonight then?” he teased instead.

Ah. Your smile dimmed a little, “Nope. Never even got a call back,” you laughed sheepishly, shrugging it off. Personally, you’d thought it had gone well. Kenta had seemed interested, even kissed you goodnight after walking you home, but he’d ignored the texts you’d sent the next morning and you hadn’t heard from him since. It stung a little bit, you could understand if maybe he wasn’t as into you as you’d thought, but you’d at least expected a polite message to say as much, but no. He’d simply disappeared seemingly off the face of the planet.

Hawks’ grin widened. “Aw, don’t worry sweetheart. We’ll have plenty of fun tonight, just you ‘n me.”

Something felt off as he reached for your hand and squeezed it, but you shook it off. It was just Hawks being Hawks, it never meant anything. He was just your boss, nothing more.

He seemed oddly on edge for the remainder of the afternoon, his wings rustling in agitation as he worked and the very moment you’d bid Fumikage farewell, he was on his feet, offering you a glass of wine and ushering you back into your shared office.

“Are you happy here with me, Y/N?” he asked as you pulled your chair over to his desk.

You felt the weight of his stare as you took a sip of the wine - red and fruity, the faintest hint of a spice you couldn’t quite put your finger on, but it was delicious, far better than the usual wine Hawks poured for nights like these. “Of course I am.” You wouldn’t still be here otherwise.

Hawks smiled, letting out a relieved sigh, “That’s good. I’m glad to hear it. I was a little worried, y’see, when you started blowing off work.”

Your eyes widened, a spike of panic shooting through your veins, “Is this about the date? Hawks, it was one night-”

He raised a hand, cutting you off mid-sentence. “Baby, I’ve told you before, call me Keigo.” You took another sip of wine, desperately trying to calm your racing heart. “But it’s all good. I took care of that little problem for you, sweetheart. I just needed to hear that your heart was still in this. You want to do good, right? You want to be a hero?”

He spoke the words so casually, it took a moment for them to sink in, but when it hit you, it hit you like a ton of bricks, a wave of dread that swelled and crashed over you, making it hard to think, hard to breathe. “H-Hawks, what are you talking about? What do you mean you took care of the problem?!”

He acted as if you hadn’t spoken, leaning in close as his crimson wings stretched out wide, boxing you in. “You know you’re never gonna be a hero, don’t you sweetheart?” He reached out with one gloved hand to touch your cheek, and you tried to lurch away, but your movements were slow, unsteady, and he easily followed you.

Panic, sharp and terrifying, clawed its way up your throat, “Wha- why c-can’t I move?” you gasped as you tried unsuccessfully to will your body to push away from him. Your arms felt heavy like they were tied down with lead weights, your head hurt and your vision was starting to swim. As your eyes desperately swept across the room, looking for anything that could help you, you saw it - Hawks’ wine glass, sitting untouched on the desk.

He’d drugged the wine, that fucking asshole!

Hawks just sighed, shaking his head with a soft, almost sympathetic look on his face. “It’s okay, babe. Don’t fight it. You know I’d never hurt you, right?”

You didn’t, you absolutely did not! Until about five minutes ago, you’d never thought he’d drug you either!

You made a panicked whine as your limbs stopped responding to you. Hawks just tsked, his thumb brushing against the soft skin of your cheek. “Shh. You said you wanted to help, to do good. I’ve done a lot of thinking these past few weeks, Y/N,” he said as he stood, rounding the desk to perch on the armrest of your chair. Tears flooded your eyes as he leant over and pressed a kiss against your cheek, his fingers sweeping a stray lock of hair away from your face.

“Pl- ple-” the words simply wouldn’t form, and you choked back a sob as Hawks cooed sweetly, pulling you out of the chair and into his arms as if you weighed no more than a feather.

“This really is the best way you can help me. I’ll protect you, keep you safe from the world, from all the villains and bad men out there who wanna hurt you.” He stroked your cheek again, smiling as you cried, “It’s gonna make me a better hero, baby, knowing that my little cutie’s waiting for me to come home every night.”

All you could manage was a soft whine as he tilted your head up, his lips meeting yours in a mockery of a kiss. His tongue, hot and hungry, plundered your mouth, and he groaned at the taste of you - sweet and heady from the drugged wine. If he was bothered by your lack of a response he didn’t let it show, one hand reaching up to tangle in your hair, pulling you closer. The stubble on his chin scratched against your skin as his lips moved roughly against yours, greedily swallowing every gasp and moan he unwittingly drew from you. He bit down on your plump bottom lip and pulled away, grinning wildly. “Don’t worry, babe, I’m only doing this because I love you. I’m gonna treat you so well,” he whispered, his golden eyes burning with sinful intentions as his hand slipped from your waist, trailing down your side and sliding between your thighs. “Gonna make you feel so good.”

His hand disappeared underneath your skirt, and you shuddered as you felt his gloved fingers brushed against your panty covered sex. You wanted to scream, to shout and fight, but all you could do was squeeze your eyes shut and pretend you didn’t feel a thing when he pushed aside the damp material and stroked your pussy.

Hawks just chuckled at your reaction, pressing another kiss against your cheek as he pulled his hand away, marvelling at the syrupy wetness on his glove. “Fuck, you’re eager, aren’t you sweetheart? But let’s get you home first, yeah? We got all the time in the world, no need to rush.”

Tribes of Europa, season 1 - thoughts

I finished season 1 of German post-apocalyptic Netflix drama Tribes of Europa a couple of days ago, and I have... lots of thoughts and mixed feelings.

It's a standard post-apocalyptic show with all the usual tropes, but mostly well done, and has potential. I ended up liking it better than I expected, mostly because one of the storylines (Kiano’s) turned out to be pretty good/interesting.

The main problem of the show is that most characters, so far, don't have a lot of depth. An exception is a female villain who has proven to be quite complex and interesting. On the other hand, while I loved seeing Oliver Masucci, in a role completely different from Ulrich Nielsen, and he's great and charismatic, I feel like I've seen the exact same lovable rogue-turned-mentor character a dozen times in various shows and movies. The main trio of young protagonists have the potential for interesting character development, but it remains to be seen what saason 2 does with it.

At least there's one thing that makes the show different than most post-apocalyptic shows I'm aware of - I can't think of any others that take place on the European continent? Usually it's North America, Australia, or UK. So, that's interesting... But then, after I finished it, I started thinking a bit more about some of the elements of the worldbuilding, which are a bit... questionable? I'm reserving judgment till these things are explained.

Spoilers under the cut.

In the first episode, the show did the GoT thing of introducing us to a likable family and then having siblings separated by fate and trying to get back together, while having different storylines. But they should've spent a bit more time with them together and explaining their history.

The show also does that thing where the siblings look nothing like each other and are played by actors of different ethnic origins, so I was waiting to hear they were half-siblings or some other explanation, but there was none. Well, OK then.

One thing I wasn't crazy about is that Kiano had a girlfriend we saw for about 20 seconds and then she apparently got killed for no particular reason. I can't say it's even fridging, since he never even mentions her afterwards and he has a lot of other reasons to hate the Crows.

But Kiano's storyline turned out to be the most interesting , and most disturbing, the kind that can make or break the show, depending on how it deals with issues like slavery, rape, trauma. So far, the show has dealt with it well, which made me like the show more than I thought. (It definitely beats The 100 - a show it was the 100 in the Netflix promo campaign - in that respect. I was already scared it would do something similar to The 100, which really dropped the ball when it touched on such issues in a really clumsy way in season 3.)

Lord Varvara has turned out to be the most interesting and compelling character, and excellently played by Melika Foroutan. (I wish I could say the same about the Crows’ big boss, Yvar - but whether it is mostly due to the OTT costume and makeup or the similarly OTT acting, I had a hard time taking this guy seriously.) She is not exactly morally grey - she is definitely a villain, slaver rapist and murderer, but her role as a former slave - a victim of abuse turned abuser, and someone who upholds the ideas of Social Darwinism - makes her role very interesting and ambiguous. I think that (especially based on some hints) that she used to be a sex slave, too, and if she was also made to be a Crow by her former slave master, that would probably mean Yvar used to be her master. That could lead to some interesting tension and conflicts, as she probably hates this guy deep inside, but still has to vie for his approval, even now that she has “made it”. And she sees to see something in Kiano that makes her think they are similar, that he is 'strong' like she thinks she is (on the other hand, she despised her other slave who had a huge Stockholm Syndrome for her).

I'm curious how they deal with Kiano's character development next season, and how far into moral greyness or darkness it will be willing to go with him. Varvara is a blueprint of what he could become. He didn't exactly show much concern for the lives of other slaves, except his father.

Liv's storyline was also pretty interesting. with her navigating the political issues of the Crimsons. I liked that the Crimsons as a whole turned out to be more morally grey than I initially expected - with their strict military discipline to the point of authorianism and lack of tolerance for dissent.

I don't know if the show expected me to side with the general (aka "Father") or think his views were right, as Liv did? I did not.. "Let's make peace and unity with slavers"? No, dude. But I’ll go with the idea that we are not necessarily supposed to side with him rather than David just because Liv did; or that a third option may be found (such as causing a rebellion among the Crows themselves, which would be my preferred direction of that storyline).

(I also rolled my eyes whenever he started going on about "old European dream" or whatever he called it. No, my dude, you need to brush up on your history. Your plan is nothing like the EU, unless your plan is to go and deliver a bunch of demands to the Crows: "Unless you guys: abolish slavery; ensure human rights for everyone; install a viable non-slavery based economy etc.. - we're not letting you into our new unified Europe!" He also may needed to be reminded EU was formed after Axis powers were defeated.)

I've heard that a lot of people didn't like Elja's storyline because they found it the least interesting, and sure, it wasn't very emotional and didn't have much character development, but I'm very curious about the mystery of the Black December, the Atlantians etc. so I liked it. And I liked the fact that Elja wasn't a naive kid and could deceive people and keep secrets when he needed to.

But there are certain problems I have with the show’s world-building... which, at its worse, may end up being just as problematic as The 100′s was.

While I like the idea of a post-apocalyptic show set in continental Europe, and with languages other than English - almost all of the characters are only speaking German or English (the latter, I guess, for the same reason it's widespread today - people speak it as a second language and use it to communicate). We should really see more people who speak other languages. So far, that’s only happened sporadically - but my problem is more with the fact that the most villainous tribe, Crows (murderous, slave-owning Eurotrash-like villains with very Social Darwinist views) - even though they speak German or English 99% of the time - very notably use certain words from Slavic languages - and only for specific terms like "lubovnik" ('lover' - actually sex slave), "boi" (fight/battle), "svobodnik" (free man?). These were very recognizable. I have no idea what "Bozie" means, but I read somewhere it comes from Russian. What's supposed to be the backtory behind that? Sure, I am for more language diversity, but did a German show have to give the kind of barbaric-version-of-fascist villains these questionable Slavic references? That would be uncomfortable in so many ways.... It's not just Slavs, because another notable Crow character, Grieta at some point used Romanian (and the actress is Romanian), but I hope they're not going with the Evil Barbaric Eastern Europeans here. To be fair, many Crows were clearly slaves at the beginning, which complicates things... but Varvara says her real name - slave name - was Sophia, which could be anything - while her Crow names is Varvara - which definitely sounds Russian or Bulgarian (or, I guess, it could be Greek).

On the other side, opposed to the Crows, we have the more “civilized” tribe/army of former Eurocorps, whose members have so far only been heard speaking English, German and, at one point, Dutch - curiously called Red Crimson Army (!), I have so many questions...

Another questionable thing, pointed by the host of the Culture Cave YouTube podcast, who did an overall favorable review of the show, howeverpointed out that the Crows - the villains - are the only ones who don't conform to gender roles? And the males who are the most 'effeminate' looking are baddies. I didn’t even think of that initially, but thinking about it... yes, it has been like that so far, hasn’t it?

I’m reserving judgment till next season, but I only used to give The 100 the benefit of doubt with its questionable world-building, and we know how that turned out.

Damn. I love this show.

As usual, my time stamped SPOILER FULL thoughts are below.

As always, I reference Malcolm’s mental health. A lot. So if talk about depression/mania/suicidal ideation is going to be a trigger for you, don’t keep reading.

0:14 - Hector’s back!! hahaha :)

0:40 - So Martin is worried about Malcolm.....he could stop manipulating Malcolm if he’s so worried. That would make Malcolm feel slightly better at least.

0:50 - What. A. Boss. That ambush was gorgeously executed *chef’s kiss*. haha how many times do you think Jessica has orchestrated this type of ambush on one of her children?

0:52 - I love this outfit on Malcolm. Seriously - why is it sooo attractive when he’s not wearing a tie?

0:55 -........he’s not seeing Gabrielle....but but he had a lollipop last episode. Am I supposed to believe he buys his own lollipops? Maybe he bought some to throw the team off the scent? UGH. MALCOLM, SWEETHEART, GO BACK TO THERAPY. YOU’RE IN CRISIS. ....wait. I bet you he’s not seeing Gabrielle because she knows when he’s lying. He’s probably scared that he’ll end up telling her about Endicott. And I’m pretty sure that legally Gabrielle can’t keep a crime a secret regardless of doctor-patient confidentiality.

1:02 - .....Malcolm didn’t know that he wasn’t paying his own therapy bills? WHO DID HE THINK WAS PAYING THEM?!?! Damn. Rich people, am I right?

1:10 - You ever wonder how many therapists Malcolm saw as a kid before they found Gabrielle? Just me? Cool.

1:15 - OMG. “Sexual in nature”?!?! Calm down Jess. He’s a grown ass man and even if it was sexual Malcolm sure as hell wouldn’t want to talk to his mother about his sex life.

1:19 - Oh so now both of your kids are in a “good place”? Martin, less than a minute ago you were ‘worried’ about Malcolm. Further proof that Martin is a liar and we can’t believe anything he says. Ever.

1:43 - Tom Payne’s physical acting during this interaction with Jessica is incredible. Ugh. Honestly, can I give him an Emmy myself? Look. Look at his face when he says, “You wouldn’t understand.” This is a teenage boy trying to hide something from his mom and is terrified that she’ll see the lie if he makes eye-contact. <3

1:45 - You know, Jessica really isn’t a perfect mother (especially to Ainsley) but she does care about her kids. I love her for it. She actually shows more concern for her adult children than most parents with adult children that I’ve been exposed to.

2:08 - I can’t decide if I love the music that was playing through that scene or if it’s just super cheesy and cringey. I mean “I did a bad bad thing” right as the title page rolls out? Kind of amazing but also super dorky.

2:13 - So Mr. David hears this whole conversation. Malcolm talking about his guilt, Martin calling Malcolm a hero, and Malcolm saying that the only person he can talk to about his problems is Martin. Sooooo either

Mr. David is being paid very well to keep quiet on Whitly family drama,

Mr. David stopped listening years ago.

Mr. David is a moron who can’t connect the dots. OR

Mr. David is going to blow this whistle on this fiasco to Jessica soon. I mean, he called her in the first season when Malcolm started visiting Martin. Mr. David has Jessica’s number...and I have a hunch that Mr. David cares about Malcolm. He’s watched Malcolm grow up into a troubled, bizarre, but very sweet man.

2:14 - “Why are you calling me?” Malcolm sounds upset that Martin is calling him; so why pick up the phone? I mean, I guess Martin will call him back incessantly but still.

2:19 - Malcolm’s completely honest version of how he’s doing mentally is heartbreaking. He “doesn’t recognize himself anymore”? Ugh. Baby. My heart is shattering. Someone hug him. OR TAKE HIM TO GABRIELLE.

2:30 - There is a moment when Malcolm says, “narcissistic psychopath” where is genuinely sounds like he’s about to have a complete breakdown. This boy is on the verge. My whump heart loves it and it makes me evil.

2:56 - aaannnnnnd there’s Malcolm on the verge of tears. This boy. Ugh. <3

3:00 - “It’s not going away Malcolm. The guilt. Take it from me.” Sooooo Mr. David isn’t a moron right? He’s going to connect the dots. He has to. ISTG Jessica keeps saying “No more lies” in the promos because Mr. David told her what he overheard.

3:06 - And that is the face of a boy who is dead on the inside. Seriously, he’s spent his whole life trying to convince himself (and others) that he is nothing like his father. But here we are - all his fears confirmed and it’s killed him.

3:20 - “Is this what you used?” Ainsley is talking about how Malcolm disposed of the body right? Because last episode she thanked Malcolm for covering for her. Sooooo she clearly knows that she killed Endicott even if she doesn’t remember it. I mean, she was covered in blood - Malcolm wasn’t.

3:23.- OMG. Endicott was killed with the Milton family silver. hahahaha why is that so funny to me?

3:43 - Just how big is that gap in her memory? I’d truly like to know. When did she check out, when did she check in, and are those times different than what she’s letting Malcolm believe?

3:55 - Yeah - I still want to know why she moved in. COVID? Is she afraid she’s going to do something else murdery? Because surely, living in the house where you know you killed someone can’t be pleasant. Or easy. Unless of course Ainsley is more like Martin than we’d like to believe.

4:09 - hahahahaha I am living for Malcolm’s facial response to Jessica saying, “I am in charge of boxes.”

4:22 - hahahaha Malcolm and Ainsley teasing Jessica about Gil is so precious. I love it. I wish they were always that happy.

4:40 - Look at Malcolm’s face when he says, “You and a certain Lieutenant”. He’s practically giddy. Whether that’s because he’s thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to tease his mother OR because he’s always wanted Jessica and Gil to be together in that way that many children who grow up in single parent homes hope for a fairytale parental ending. My guess - a mixture of both.

4:45 - Ainsley looks delighted at the idea of Gil/Jessica too. I assume it’s because she loves the gossip and the opportunity to tease Jessica. BUT I also wonder what Ainsley’s relationship with Gil is like? Do they have one?

4:58 - “Does he let you wear his turtlenecks?” OMG. bahahahaha comedic GOLD.

5:10 - THIS. The evolution of JT and Malcolm’s friendship is everything. 10/10 would recommend. So sweet. LOOK AT HOW CONCERNED MALCOLM IS. <3 <3 Malcolm’s been calling JT?!?! UGH. This warms my cold dead heart.

5:20 - JT is a bad liar. This dude is not okay.

5:27 - “When I say I’m fine, I’m always lying.” .....we already knew this but it hurts to hear Malcolm say is so nonchalantly.

5:32 - JT does the sign of the cross....so he’s definitely religious.

5:56 - “Holy...” “Watch it Bright.” hahaha how much do you want to bet that Gil took Malcolm to church once (1) time as a kid. It went so poorly that Gil never brought him again. Malcolm was probably questioning the priest and generally just asking a lot of “why” questions.

6:15 - Gil is so done with the Edrisa+Bright banter. Look at his face - he’s just sooo tired. .....is Gil particularly cranky this episode because Jessica is dodging his phone calls?

6:23 - Malcolm looks pensive as soon as Gil mentions that the Father had been with the church for 30 years. Why?

6:56 - I’m not going to lie. I’m really getting tired of the crap Dani (and even Gil in this episode - is he mad at Malcolm for avoiding him when he was hospital-bound? Or just cranky because Jessica isn’t calling him back?) are giving Malcolm. He’s asking a question relevant to the case. Sure - it’s not an easy question to ask but last season they wouldn’t have glared at him for asking it. I understand that Dani is upset with Malcolm for lying to her and she probably thinks he knows something about how Endicott died. I get it - Malcolm screwed up. BUT Dani’s reaction is so over the top. I understand where she’s coming from - she has trust issues. That doesn’t give her the right to treat him like garbage for the rest of his life. It’s been literally MONTHS.

7:11 - “That’s not a no.”....Damn, he looks cute when he says that.

7:30 - I LOVE that Malcolm knows so much about the Bible and Catholicism even though he’s not a believer. It makes me think he investigated a ton of religions as a kid - looking for relief from his trauma. I respect that he did the research and I respect that he doesn’t (openly at least) think other people are moronic/short-sighted for believing in God(s).

7:56 - I’ll be honest, my first reaction to Jonah was: “Why does he look and sound like he’s dying?”

8:03 - “Catholic.” haha I love some good religious comedy. BUT AGAIN GIL, THAT GLARE IS SO NOT NECESSARY. That wasn’t a ‘warning - you’re being insensitive’ glare. That was a ‘I’m your father and you’re in sooo much trouble’ glare. I love Gil with my whole heart but everyone is being a dick to Malcolm today (minus JT and Edrisa) and I’m done with it. Malcolm’s fragile mental state can’t handle it. Be nice to my boy.

8:35 - Is this Gil’s church?!? Why does he know all the church staff by name? He either attends this church or someone gave him an amazing briefing before he got to the church.

9:34 - At least Gil knows something is wrong with Malcolm.

9:41 - What? That’s it? No. Gil - press on. Don’t accept Malcolm’s “I’m fine”.

10:18 - I wish this scene didn’t end with Gil’s look of disbelief and concern. I wish we got to see Gil tell Malcolm not to go see Martin. I wish we got a more concrete papa!Gil moment.

10:42 - Something about the fact that Martin is tethered to a pole like a tether-ball is hilarious to me. Also - why are some prisoners not tied up? The inmate talking to Friar Pete has no rope.

10:52 - Ugh. When exactly did Martin give Malcolm “The Talk”? Like how old was Malcolm? How traumatic was it? Ugh. It’s very upsetting to remember that Martin acted like a good father to Malcolm for a good portion of the first 10 years of Malcolm’s life. It really doesn’t help Malcolm’s PTSD.

11:00 - That’s right Malcolm. Don’t let Martin ramble. Stand your ground. <3 So proud of Malcolm <3

11:15 - Listen to the way Malcolm says, “Who is that?”. He’s some combination of resigned and scared. I love it.

11:33 - Friar Pete is so creepy. The way he just walks up to Malcolm until his rope goes taught?! UGH. Poor Malcolm looks so done with this whole situation. He’s rolling his eyes and grimacing at various points throughout this scene. He has some major sass right now and I’m here for it.

11:41 - “You two should talk!” ....Is this Martin’s really eff-ed up way of trying to help Malcolm with his guilt about Endicott? I don’t like it.....and Malcolm’s face tells me he doesn’t either.

12:48 - Is that true? Can churches really not exorcise people without medical permission in the current day? I thought exorcisms were just banned? IDK - I’m a Christian, my branch of faith doesn’t do exorcisms.

13:33 - YES! A JT AND MALCOLM SCENE. <3 <3 I’m unreasonably happy about this.

13:45 - sooooooo is this Norman’s real home and his real mother? The first time I watched it I thought it was some sort of weird catholic-inpatient facility but now I’m not sure.

15:10 - Ok. I can’t hold back anymore. Malcolm’s shoes. They. Are. Awful. I understand - Tom Payne is a short guy. He probably needs heels to fit in the shot. I’m not mad about the heels. I’m made that they gave him very very ugly heels. Is it just me? These shoes are hideous.

15:14 - “Hi Norman.” .....Malcolm is so soft here and I’m in love with it. My cold dead heart is melting. Also JT’s freaked-out look in this scene is everything.

15:25 - There’s something about the way Malcolm says “Good.” that just hits me really hard. It’s beautiful. He sounds and looks a little scared but he’s also really calm and professional and it’s just...*chef’s kiss*.

16:44 - “He’s clearly mentally-ill.” I love this. I love that Malcolm is defending the person with a severe mental illness because he doesn’t have any proof that Norman committed a crime. It also breaks my heart. Makes me think of how many people dismissed or judged Malcolm poorly throughout his life because Malcolm’s mental illnesses. Even though they weren’t quite as extreme as Norman’s.

16:54 - I love this. JT is telling Malcolm to stay behind the line partially out of fear (because this whole Norman situation is clearly freaking JT out big time) but also partially because he just cares about Malcolm. I love their friendship and it’s evolution. SO. MUCH.

17:21 - Is there a mirror of something? How the hell did Norman know that Malcolm crossed the salt? Was it the slight creaking in the floorboards?

17:54 - Dude. Is every suspect this season going to accuse Malcolm of being a killer? First Boyd, now Norman. This is not helping Malcolm’s mental state or his ability to hide his guilt from the team.

18:30 - “Malcolm Bright. Always crossing the line.” lol. I love JT here. He’s half-teasing Malcolm. Makes me think that he subtly trying to tell Malcolm that he isn’t the killer Norman says that he is.

18:44 - I DO NOT LIKE THIS. LOOK AT HOW SCARED MALCOLM IS WHEN HE WALKS INTO THE ROOM. A ROOM WITH GIL AND DANI IN IT. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. HE’S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SCARED OF THEM.

19:00 - “What the hell do you have?”. Wow. Okay. No. I love Gil. I understand that he loves Malcolm like a son and he’s scared for Malcolm and Malcolm’s mental state. But this question is so over the line. Gil knows damn well what Malcolm’s mental diagnoses are. It feels like he’s accusing Malcolm of being crazy. I don’t like it.

19:17 - “Are you serious?” Ok. Dani really needs to start being nicer to Malcolm. She doesn’t have to trust him but some professional civility would be great. I really don’t like how hard the writers are pushing this tension between Dani and Malcolm. It makes Dani look so immature. An adult would be pissed but get over the anger after literal months. The relationship wouldn’t necessarily be the same but it sure as hell wouldn’t be this hostile.

19:40 - Something about Malcolm being the calmest person in the room is both comforting and upsetting.

19:55 - “My father gave it to me.”.....that’s so not going to help Gil’s concern about Malcolm.

20:50 - This is cute. We don’t get to see enough of Jessica and Ainsley acting like a semi-normal mother-daughter duo. I love it.

21:00 - “We are WASPs. It’s. What. We. Do.” OMG. Hahahaha

21:05 - I love how invested Ainsley is in the Gil/Jessica relationship. It’s so clear that she wants her Mom to be happy and I love it. It also makes me wonder if she ever wanted Gil to be her real dad as a kid.

21:30 - Damn. This episode is creepy.

21:45 - First clue that this is a dream - Malcolm says “we” but he’s alone.

21:57 - ...are Nuns allowed to paint their nails? #GenuineQuestion

22:14 - Not going to lie. This made me cry. I relate to Malcolm so damn much here. I’ve had a severe anxiety disorder for as long as I can remember (seriously I saw my first therapist - against my will - at the age of 4). I’ve also had chronic depression for almost as long. AND I’m a christian. I can’t tell you how many times other christians have told me to “cast my worries on the Lord” and “be free” of my pain. Or that I don’t really believe in God because I’m still suffering so visibly. The problem is - I don’t know if I want to be free. I’ve had these issues so long that I’m genuinely not sure who I’d be without them. It’s how I define myself. It affects every aspect of my personality. I feel like Malcolm might feel the same way - he doesn’t want to suffer anymore but he’s afraid of finding out who he is without the pain.

22:17 - Okay. So there’s Gil’s voice. So Gil+ Malcolm = “we”. As though I’m supposed to believe that Gil would split up with Malcolm when they’re looking for a nun, who isn’t even a suspect, at a church. Nah. I don’t buy it. This is clearly a dream.

22:30 - “You have to tell them what you did.”...and then we see the knife. Does this mean Malcolm is slowly convincing himself that he killed Endicott. Not Ainsley? Either way - I agree with nightmare-Ainsley. The team loves Malcolm but they’re also detectives. They’ll figure out what happened. And when they do - yikes.

22:46 - I hate this. All season suspects have been calling Malcolm evil. Martin has been calling Malcolm a “hero”. Malcolm’s guilt is eating him alive. Simultaneously, the people who are supposed to trust and care about him (Dani, Gil, the precinct, Jessica) have all shown signs of doubting him. Dani alone has pointed a gun at Malcolm’s head. Now she’s wearing body armour? AND LOOK AT THE OTHER COPS. THEY ALL HAVE THEIR HANDS ON THEIR GUNS AS THOUGH MALCOLM IS A CRIMINAL. A THREAT. DANGEROUS. This is very bad for Malcolm’s mental health......God, the whump-whore in me hopes he has a major panic attack or something this season.

23:23 - I love this scene. This is the papa!Gil content I’m here for.

23:51 - JT expressing fear and concern for his unborn child makes my heart grow several sizes. Look at his puppy dog eyes here? Ugh. So precious. This whole JT arc is heartbreaking and beautiful. I love it.

24:15 - Sooooo JT knows about Jessica right? He’s a detective and a husband. He so knows. hahaha this is so cute.

24:19 - Gil. You. Are. A. Liar......and you’ve been really grumpy this episode but I’m going to forgive you because I love you.

24:28 - GIL. You’ve waited 20 years. How much longer can you wait for Jessica?!?!

24:35 - Maybe JT didn’t know? At least - not until Gil rambled on about waiting? JT looks like he just connected all the dots and he’s super uncomfortable.

24:43 -...... so she verbally attacks him all episode then drives him home and acts like she did toward Malcolm by mid-season 1? I’m getting whiplash.

25:18 - This scene is so cute. They actually made the real life version of heart-eyes at each other. And Malcolm pours her a glass of water. Because 1) she’s driving and 2) she’s a recovering addict. He’s so casually respectful and I love it.

25:28 - “Are you any different?” Ouch. Look at how hurt Malcolm is. :( Although, props to Dani for confronting him about it. Someone needed to and she’s being really calm and caring about it.

26:10 - Dani’s little speech about being a black woman feels a little forced? Like the writers put it in so she doesn’t feel left out compared to JT? Idk, the whole thing just seemed not quite believable. Probably because when JT was racially profiled Dani - a black woman - pulled out her badge and all the white cops listened to her. It just doesn’t track. They wouldn’t have listened to her if they were racist and bold enough to attack JT in the first place.

26:47 - Anyone else think that all those lit candles are a fire hazard? Just me? Cool cool cool.

27:21 - Yo. This is stupid. I understand why this happened - because the plot needed it to happen. BUT WHY DID ALL THREE ARMED COPS LEAVE THREE UNARMED PEOPLE ALONE?!? And when does a team of 4 split into a group of 3 and 1??! It makes no logical sense (except for plot purposes).

28:03 - Creepy.

28:30 - Oh. HELL no. This is absolute bs. My entire heart is breaking for JT.

29:05 - I really like how chill this Priest is. Like - he respects that Malcolm’s a disbeliever and he’s willing to talk to him without trying to convert him.

29:55 - Listen to how upset JT sounds here!! :( :( :( My heart. :(

30:08 - Ok so how did she end up tied in the closet and not murdered?

30:40 - ....so did Jonah ruin that painting while Sister Agnes was in the closet or is the Sister just a moron who didn’t say anything about the guy ruining the painting?!?

30:50 - Sooooo Jonah is an “expert”. He taught Sister Agnes how to safely handle the lead-based paint. Yet - he didn’t use the protection? We saw him with a gas mask at the beginning of the episode? Did the sister not notice that he wasn’t using the protection? So much of this doesn’t track. Thankfully, I don’t watch this show for the “murder of the week” plot line.

31:30 - Malcolm is a good dude. Even now. He’s trying to help Jonah. <3 Heart of gold.

32:25 - Martin - shut. up.

32:45 - Friar Pete is a creepy treasure. I love him.

33:24 - “Oh you’ve gotta be kidding.” hahaha I feel you Malcolm. I feel you.

33:34 - Not gonna lie - when I watched this the first time all I could think is “How the eff does Malcolm remember everything Pete just said?” Maybe it’s just me but I would need Pete to go 1-2 words at a time. And slowly. ....maybe Malcolm took Latin in school?

24:06 - Oh so all the killers this season are also going to accuse Malcolm of being a killer and/or evil.

34:40 - Damn. I wish the team walked in right as Malcolm was screaming “the power of Christ compels you!!!”.

35:15 - I. Love. This. Gil screaming on the phone is everything. Him going to bat for JT is everything. Malcolm saying “This is bad”?!? *chef’s kiss*. ISTG Malcolm’s been scolded by Gil when Gil is that mad at some point during his teen years.

35:53 - “I’ll take care of it.” JT. Is. My. Hero. What an absolute king. He’s going to take care of it, even though he’s terrified, because he needs to protect his family. Not just Tally and the baby. But little sister Dani too. <3 My heart is full.

36:11 - ....okay so not to ruin a totally beautiful and profound scene but every time I’ve watched this scene JT doing that lean into the wall is very weird to me. Because he turns to face the camera. If he just slid down the wall or just leaned his head against the wall - it wouldn’t have felt so strange. It honestly distracts me from the scene. Every. Time.

36:18 - This is hot garbage. I don’t even want to rewatch this scene because it makes me so upset.

37:51 - I understand where Jessica is coming from but I also think she’s being a moron. I will say though, I respect the hell out of Gil for walking away when asked. A lot of men wouldn’t but he respects Jessica even if he doesn’t like what he’s hearing. So he left because she asked him to.

39:00 - If this isn’t a red flag for Jessica about Ainsley’s mental health idk what is.

39:25 - Poor Malcolm looks like he’s on the verge of tears here. :( I’m genuinely scared that Malcolm is becoming suicidal. He’s reaching the level of depressed and guilt where I think it’s a possibility. I genuinely think he’d rather kill himself to stop his guilt and suffering than to admit it to Gil, Jessica, JT, or Dani. ...for legal reasons he definitely can’t tell Gabrielle.

40:00 - Sooooo Martin is finally suggesting that it was his idea to dispose of the body. I hope it’s the truth.

40:05 - Martin is a piece of trash. He really needs to stop playing with Malcolm’s head. It’s literally killing Malcolm.

40:50 - Oh. SHIT. Malcolm just clapped back hard. I am so so proud of him. ...also concerned about this deep anger in him though.

41:46 - I swear - if we don’t get a Gil and Martin face-off when Martin breaks out, I will lose my mind. It’s one of the top things I want from this show. A Martin+Gil showdown.

Ok. So I kind of loved this episode? Even though there were...many plot holes and things that annoyed me about it. Is it just me or has this season felt much darker than last season so far? It makes sense given last season’s finale but it’s still thrown me a bit.

BUT I CAN NOT WAIT FOR 2x3. That promo. Ugh. <3 <3 We’re going to get traumatized teen!Malcolm content and I’m a sick bastard who is living for it.

"Back to work," said Liam and I'm just gonna assume he meant me cause man, they are making a lot of work for me right now so thank you for noticing Lima so thoughtful!

Louis is of course the man of this week (though the rest are right behind him so next week is anyone's guess), KMM release is closer every minute and we're not to forget it- today we got a lyric tease and a glimpse of some visuals. "The devil in my brain, whispering my name…," Louis tweeted, and a picture of a pen drawing (road, hills) with lyrics (and release info) on it pinned to a board was posted to his instagram. Definitely looks like it could be from another lyric video in the stop motion style of the excellent TOU lyric video (and the JLY video)... And then, a minor German site posted a pre KMM article about Louis, mostly totally standard, except for at the end when it says, "A second song release is already scheduled. As Sony Music announced, the second single We Made It will be released on October 3rd." Some question the source's validity and for sure! This isn't official and could be drawn from (speculative) twitter gossip! But them just carelessly using info that was supposed to be embargoed until a later date is plausible as well. Louis did tell us to expect two singles in close succession, he teased a song called "** **** it" and said that song might be a single, Oct 3 is a Thurs about exactly one month after the KMM release date... I buy it. If it is real and is that song: one, VERY EXCITING, two, we've heard a clip of it! It's the song he posted a clip of in Feb of last year ("a new mix of something for the album.") (Oh my indeed.) And finally, three, it can be about whatever it's about but if he didn't want us to draw a link to Harry singing You're Still The One he could have changed the name and if he didn't know damn well we would he wouldn't have starred it out to save it up.

Liam posted a car selfie this morning titled, as mentioned, "back to work" and then sure enough, got right to it. He showed up at Capitol Records signing a wall, posted a handsome walking-down-the-street pic captioned "I hope you’ve all had a good start to the week," members of his team reposted that pic with the back to work caption, everyone's got a part to do to get the Liam promo machine rolling, he posted a fanart of this mornings selfie (the fast turnover!) and he followed Maya Henry (who then liked his post). We're told by "sources" that he and Maya have "been seeing each other for a while" but were waiting until Liam was promoting a new single to go public. Scott and Chris on BBC Radio 1 mentioned today that they wanted Liam fans to get in touch as 'something cool could go down'; one fan who texted in got a call back and was asked if she was free at 4pm tomorrow (um YES obviously) but given no other details. That show ends at 4 so whatever fan interaction happens is unlikely to be live tomorrow but we'll be hearing from him all week I think: another radio station says that he'll be popping by tomorrow... Tomorrow is also the GQ Men of the Year Awards, co-hosted by Hugo Boss: let's just say I wouldn't bet against him making an appearance but if you want to I'll put big money down in favor

Niall, also gearing up towards release, sat down and wrote an essay on twitter, wow. He writes about how he loves Flicker and how happy he was/is with it, and how appreciative of the response, and how touring it let him see what people responded to and work that into his process, and how excited he is to get the new stuff out. "What's the hold up then," he's asked, and he is like yeah yeah there's a lot that goes into this, and talks about all the different teams working on different parts of things. A good reminder of the iceberg that is a label release: months of work that have to be completed with us seeing only glimpses before the much smaller visible result pokes up out of the water for us to catch sight of at the last minute before we crash and die.

Harry liked a post about a fan's journey to feeling more confident with being gender non-conforming set to a HS1 vs HS2 timeline and a couple pictures from Harris Reed's new (gender fluidity themed) collection and took a fan pic back in London: don't ask cause I don't know, his hair was tucked in a hat.

As a side note: every single person in this fandom is horrible at tagging their spoilers, you guys really need to do a better job at that because I’ve got a bunch of blockers on and I was STILL almost spoiled multiple times. Come on you guys...it literally came out today, be better about this.

Alright going to try and keep expectations low because I feel like the target audience for this is G1 dudebros who take a series about transforming cars way too seriously, but I’m still cautiously optimistic because a friend vetted for the dudes working on this show so WE”LL SEE

Aw man there’s only 6 episodes??? Bummer, I wonder if they’re already working on Season 2 or if they’re going to see how this does and let it die in the water if it’s not popular enough.

Things I know going in: Skyfire / Jetfire is in this, Megatron has big lips, and Elita is in it. That’s literally it, I’ve managed to avoid spoilers thusfar (though a few of the promo images implied Skyfire’s a Decepticon, so you KNOW that’s gonna break bad eventually)

man I’m only like a few minutes in and I’m already bored. I’m going to watch the whole thing, but I feel like this is really lacking soul or personality so far. It very much feels like the script was written by people who aren’t familiar with these characters, so they’re writing them how they EXPECT them to sound, not writing them as they actually are. It’s more than a little disappointing, but this is only the first episode, so I’ll keep going and see if this is consistent throughout the series.

I know they’re on a time-crunch because they only have 6 episodes, but they have to do more to make me care about the characters. I’m inclined to care about them already because I’m familiar with the series and because as a stand-alone, even I’m like “Ok. So?” whenever new problems come up for them. I’m not invested!

Not to compare the two, because I feel like this entire liveblog will turn into a comparative essay, but Cyberverse got me invested in characters within the first episode! They were on an even TIGHTER time-crunch because their episodes were only 10 minutes, and yet they did a great job weaving a tight narrative and making good use of their time to tell a story and have characters charm the audience.

You know, there’s a lot of talking in the show but the dialogue doesn’t actually say a lot. It doesn’t reveal much about the characters or tell me who they are.

It really annoys me that characters always pause after saying “I”. It’s always “I.........[long pause] rest of their sentence.”

ughHHHHHH I HATE THAT MY BIGGEST PET PEEVE IS “what have you done?” SAID UTTERLY MONOTONE WHEN IT’S NOT EVEN A BIG DEAL!!! YOU CAN”T FLIP THAT LINE OUT WITHOUT ACTUALLY PUTTING IN THE FOOTWORK TO EARN IT!!! AGH!!!

Again, it feels very much like the writers read the wikipedia page for Transformers and maybe the first sentence of each character’s bio page and then wrote the entire script from there. It’s frustrating. I hate being so severe in my reviews because I hate dunking on my fellow writers because they don’t always have final say in what happens, but this is astonishingly poor writing.

Like, I can see what they’re TRYING to accomplish, but it feels like they whiff so badly.

Ugh ANOTHER WRITING PET PEEVE: Constantly having characters start to say something but then then their dialogue gets cut off. It’s fine if it’s once in a while but over and over it’s annoying

I also feel like a lot of the VAs lack...emotion. They don’t emphasize the lines. Like, “Get him into the repair bay” is one example. Depending on how you emphasize certain words in that sentence, you can infer a lot! Emotion, the state of mind of the character, etc. But when it’s delivered in such a bland way, it’s a bit like “ok whatever”, which is how I’m starting to feel about this whole show. This doesn’t go for all the VAs or all lines, but it’s consistent enough that my mind’s wandering.

I think they marketing for Zorii is really weird (aka non existing) in two points:

1. If Poe will end up with Zorii:

When Rose was announced for The last jedi, she was everywhere, had a group picture with the other actors, it was allready announced that she would go a mission with Finn. It was allready really clear from the promo that she would play a major role in TLJ and that she probably have romantic feelings for Finn.

Poe was actually supposed to be killed by the TIE fighter crash, but Oscar Isaacs performance was so good, as well as his chemistry with the other actors, that JJ kept his character in the movie. And now Poe is part of the main trio and a well devloped character with his own comic line etc. If such a character gets a love interest wouldn’t that be someone who gets promoted a lot and gets a big character development? But Zoriis character is actually nowhere in the promo. She had one entertainment weekly photo months ago, is not on the recent EW cover with all the other charcaters (even Jannah was there) and her character poster was the second last one to be posted on twitter today, even after the droids?

2. If she is a single character like Holdo:

Holdo got a really memorable stunning EW photo. A single photo like Zorii but a lot better in quality if you ask me. We knew Holdo would be Poes new boss and would cause some trouble. Wasn’t she also in the pre-TLJ book? Just looking at the promo I didn’t expected her to have such a major role in TLJ to be fair. So i could be wrong about Zorii. But TROS is the last movie that has to conclude all and give all “old” characters a satisfying ending. Hence there is not much space for intrdocuing new characters with a lot of screentime

So i really wonder how big Zoriis role will be in TROS

PLL The Perfectionists - 1x01 Pilot LIVE REACTION

WE ARE BACK!!!!

Ok I’m gonna do what I was doing for PLL where I react as I watch. But before I copy and paste the live reaction, I want to give my quick overview. That was by far a 10/10. That achieved everything a pilot should achieve. It introduced us to the characters, each of their stories, and the relationships each character has with one another. It set the overall tone, that this is a murder mystery with twists and turns to come. It established what the show is about. And it had occasional small shocks (I say small because there’s only so much that can be shocking in a pilot when everything is brand new). This was exponentially darker than the PLL pilot and for that I’m so grateful. We are cutting the high school airy-fairy (is that word used outside of Australia?) drama and going straight to scandals and a murder. I’m scared to see the ratings tomorrow because I want it to do well but hey it was trending worldwide on Twitter so that’s a good sign!? The show looks SO promising. I think I’m already in love with the cast. I just want to know more about everything and everyone and omg we are back!

LIVE THOUGHTS:

Love this intro! It sets the scene very well about the whole theme of perfectionism.

WAIT IS DYLAN PLAYING POKERFACE BY LADY GAGA HAHAHAHAHA

Okay sorry but that song ain’t it (“two can keep a secret if one of them is dead”). Why does it sound like an auto tuned choir? I’m happy for change. I actually don’t want the exact same version as the original series. But this one ain’t it. Is it too late to change it???

Wait, why is Alison walking around her new apartment like she’s walking around Jenna’s school for the blind in 710? If she lived 2 years of happiness and freedom of A, there’s no need to be so sceptical of danger every time you walk into a room. Anyway, doesn’t really matter.

Just the backing music throughout the scene is very PLL-esque! Yes, there is such thing as PLL backing music. And this is it.

Mona making a grand entrance!

I feel like Ali’s reaction to seeing Mona was a bit... underwhelming? If they haven’t seen each other in 2 years I expected a bit more of an “OMG”, and a “how did you get in my apartment”, etc. But they go straight to the point and cut the fluff so I don’t mind overall.

Mona recruited Ali. I knew it. And she works at BHU, we already knew that.

Emison is having trust issues. But she wants to do this for the kids. Ok I expected more detail there to satisfy the Emison shippers but whatever, I won’t cry at night.

Ok so Mary and Alex escaped Mona’s “dungeon”. That’s fine by me. Maybe that’ll be the storyline for a PLL movie later, who knows. It’s quite a vague answer but what did we expect... Mona to ADMIT to Ali that she captured her aunt? No. Mona could never explicitly say to Ali what she did. Hence the subtle pause before “... escaped me”. Only us the audience know the true meaning of that and I love how subtle yet meaningful it is.

Why do I feel like this security system is gonna play a massive toll throughout the entire series?

Loved the little Easter egg of seeing Mona, and Mona in the mirror (2 Mona’s). A subtle symbol/reference to her split personality in PLL.

I LOVED the scene of Ali teaching in the classroom! I got How To Get Away With Murder vibes...

Remember when we all thought Taylor’s death would be the main death of the show because of that memorial with her name on it... lol. Okay I’m calling it now... come back to this in the apparently mind blowing season 1 finale... Taylor isn’t really dead WE HAVENT TECHNICALLY SEEN A BODY

Love the complicated friendships going on between Dylan, Nolan, Ava, Caitlin! There’s a lot going on about faking being friends and faking tasks to uphold the image of being perfect. I love this theme and I feel like it’s super relevant to today’s world. Like especially social media. Everyone’s instagrams are always filled of their highs. And they’re mostly edited. No one ever posts/shares their low moments.

So no one knows of Ali’s past. Hmmm. We’ve had this discussion before, I don’t think it’s realistic that no one knows the name Alison DiLaurentis - surely that was on national news when “dead girl isn’t dead anymore” made headlines. But anyway. If they wanna pretend no one watches the news, it wouldn’t be the most unrealistic thing PLL has done.

Is Dylan the gay male character Marlene said she was going to introduce in PLL season 5B? Lmao about time.

WOW that flashback of Caitlin and Nolan just gave me PLL season 1 Alison flashback vibes! Nolan plays the bad manipulative guy so well just like Ali played the bully so well in flashbacks!

Sofia looks FLAWLESS in the pool scene OH MY GODDD. AND her voice is so soothing what the hell

Love how the first scene of Nolan’s mother shows her standing on top of the staircase and the camera panning up. Great directing there. Showing she’ll be like a supreme leader. And then the camera being over her shoulders looking down on Nolan. Again great camera work which conveys the message that she is the boss of this town. I think she’ll be our new Jessica DiLaurentis lol

“I’d like some time for myself” ... “to do what?” OUCH why is that so iconic

Eli is... doing great. He comes across very confident. A star in the making?

Love the cinematography period. And Portland is beautiful!! Better than the Warner Bros lot.

Omg Nolan’s mother gathering “attractive” people for her photo op. Lol, they really are big on presenting a perfect image.

“You saw somebody else” NO CAITLIN, ALISON SAW YOU wow these kids will adamantly lie to uphold perfectionism. I keep saying that but I just love this theme!!!

Omg Ali is so good at learning their lies. Of course she is, she’s had years of practice

The woods, Nolan? Nothing good ever happens in the woods.

Lol when Nolan tells Dylan to “kiss me” and Dylan actually contemplates it (and does it). That’s the type of power Nolan has over people.

I love how Ali is trying to help them! I can see a bond eventually forming here.

This scene where Nolan cheats on Ava isn’t shocking since they unfortunately shared it in the promos but hey a douche is a douche.

WHAT THE FUCKITY FUCKING FUCK IT’S TAYLOR WHAT DID I JUST SAY ABOVE

OK I KNOW I GUESSED ALEX DRAKE BUT THIS IS A NEW RECORD FOR FASTEST THEORY TO COME TRUE

Well it wasn’t really a theory I was just joking that she’s not really dead because we didn’t see a body but still do I get a point? Lmao

Nonetheless that shocked me! I love that they’re trying to take down their own family, that’s so dark and it’s only episode 1!

Sorry I put my phone down during that scene in the woods. I just knew it would be juicy and I wanted to immerse in it properly. I frickin adore this scene. It’s creepy in tone, set in the woods like classic PLL, they’re referring to Ali like a friend and my PLL heart is content, and this is the first time they’re all bonding over one thing: wanting Nolan dead. This is probably my favourite scene in the whole episode.

So I’m guessing the vibes are that they were being recorded in the woods about how they want Nolan to be killed? But didn’t Nolan turn off the security?

Mona gets in her car and chucks a big bag in the back seat. Where was she and what was in the baggggg

Ok that was a bit dramatic Ali (“why am I really here”)

Lol I had to rewatch that for a sec. I thought Ali said “and his dead sister who I just saw pick him up” and I was like wait what Ali knows Taylor’s alive??? No, “dead sister who I just saw a picture of”.

OH MY GOD WHAT A MISSED OPPORTUNITY!!!! THAT SCENE WHERE THE 3 OF THEM ARE WALKING AWAY FROM EACH OTHER... NOLAN’S BODY SHOULD’VE FALLEN TO THE GROUND IN THE MIDDLE OF THEM RIGHT THERE! That would’ve been iconic. Like “oh well we were just kidding about all that, good night xx” then nope bam dead body. But I guess he had to die with poles through his chest as Caitlin said.

Oh Marlene. That’s a LOT of dialogue for a death scene. I hope you can back up and explain what Nolan is talking about before he died. Don’t you dare tell me that was an interpretative dream. Again that’s a lot of dialogue for a death scene. You better know who that killer is Marlene! Don’t make it up the day you write the finale!

I don’t like how we didn’t see Nolan ACTUALLY be killed. They play it safe because they don’t want to show us the killer in action. they basically copied the format of Mona’s “death”. Just change the scene to a flashing ambulance with a lame transition lol.

Another missed opportunity. Mona should’ve said to Ali “they found a body”! That would’ve been iconic in every way possible. First it was Ali’s body now Ali is finding a body and hearing the news and ugh oh well

My god that’s a violent death. And pretty early in the series for a Noel-Khan-level death. Too bad the photos leaked online and we knew that Nolan would not only die, but die like THAT. Those extras/fillers on set really should get charged for having their phones on them and leaking shit. Isn’t there copyright laws or something???? idk

Ummmmmm what? What kind of sci-fi, dollhouse level bullshit is that? That’s kinda over the top. Ehhhh. We’ll see where that goes.

My brain right now instantly got to thinking if Nolan’s murderer will be the “A” of the series or if the killer will just be the main mystery for season 1? Is “who killed Nolan” going to be the overarching story of the entire show or will they answer that sooner rather than later and then start a new mystery? I wonder what the format of this show will be. That’s where my mind is right now as the credits play.
