some Thoughts about the 02 show (while the days of ltwt show recaps the length of essays are gone, I thought I'd share some stuff)(this of course got kinda long anyways, I am nothing but predictable!)
first of all it's so interesting to go online after a show and "consume" the show through different perspectives... I was in the pit close to the sound booth and could see a tiny Louis like tunnel vision (and not even always - I had to look at the screens a lot more than any previous shows). I had never been to such a big venue and it felt like the arenas I'd be previously - it's so hard to gage. Anyways when I saw Louis' IG post I realized how far I was and seeing pictures and videos of the venue - I truly hadn't realized the sheer number of people. Also the lights project from our POV seemed to have bombed but seeing the videos, it did create the intended effect. Also I was so far that I had to ask the gc for the color of the pants (#purple #slay) and only in the encore, when there was a camera on Louis' entire body, did I notice the shoes (unfortunately my eyes deceived me into thinking they were Nike). I missed all the little quirky faces and interactions that I now see in gifs. HOWEVER I did not miss the several times Louis teared up including during Chicago and during his speeches and I tell you my heart was bursting. I love that he talked a bit more than usual - I think he said something like "I can't put into words... well let me try" and he said everything so perfectly! The reference to his dreams and the "we" - I just listened to him and thought how much I love him. His special thanks to his band was super sweet.
setlist: HOTH safe! If I hadn't known DMD was back on the setlist I wouldn't have recognized it. No 7 :( I tolerate Angels Fly but tbh I don't understand how it's there and not like Headline or Always You or FEARLESS. High in Cali was hilarious because you could tell weed isn't legal in the UK lmao - the vibe was so different than back home. 505 still so good and now I can sing every single lyrics but in a very oh poor me, the show ruined my 5 x 505 streak this year since it's now 6. But 505 Laval you'll always be #1 in my Heart <3. We Made It is still the It Girl and Silver Tongues... I doubt a closer will ever come this close (hehe) to how fucking epic it is. Tbh I could hardly tell when the string section was playing but I'm glad I had a show with strings! Me still in LTWT mode wondering why the pyro didn't go off during Walls only to be told there hasn't been any for this tour ouuuups. The Megamix SLAYS so hard and the special effects were SO cool! I did miss the classic rainbow lights for SIBWAWC cuz the lasers didn't reflect on the crowd as nicely but the clouds and at the beginning of ATT were beautiful.
Talking about lasers I was eyeing this guy in the soundbooth that I'd never see before and was clowning about him being there for the LIVE ALBUM RECORDING. I even took notes to figure out later where he works (spare a thought for tumblr user bbrox who has to put up with my insanity). ONLY to figure out 1 hour later that the guy was the special lasers guy as made so obvious by the fact he packed up his stuff after Saturdays in a box that said "laser fx triangle C" lololol. Sometimes I think it's good to clown for nothing - be humbled!
I saw most of the crew in the soundbooth - the person I was with was trying to spot the Tomlinsons while I was looking for Oli and K and was mentally putting a check on names for the sound and lights guys - priorities! (Blaming Red Rocks for having us go down the rabbit hole of every single member of the crew)
Oh yeah the KMM lights! It was kinda spontaneous? He had a little shy smile like he was telling himself 'look at this lot' and it was soooo adorable. I'm glad I got to be a part of it <3 Which pretty much summarizes this whole show - witnessing a moment in history.
Finally - TANK TOP LOUIS WITH MY OWN 2 EYES!!!!!! And what a tank top!!! #blessed #cantspellslutwithoutlt
Everyone's been saying being a louie is for life and that just keep getting stronger and stronger everytime I get to see him perform! Can't wait for future shows!!!

The response for this ask, I was in a relationship for almost 6 years started from 18, and many of louis song lyrics resonates with that.. I will never say that person is a bad person, he is quite good person, but yet we were quite toxic to each other. I think it may be the age or that we are both different people and were not compatiable, it took a lot out of me to come out of the relationship and be where i am today.
This can be the same situation. no one is bad in this situation and ppl are allowed to be selfish and think of their future without hurting or harming another person. The moment i heard these songs I felt that i understood these situations so much and i could relate to it so so much. Esp the back to you and the written all over your face. Its exactly what I felt. I never want someone else to go through that toxic phase and yet to think he did or may have felt it, it is an horrible feeling.
I guess this is true. We never know any of the details, and at any rate, Louis really doesn’t cast any blame (except obliquely, via Walls the song, and the KMM-WMI-DLIBYH music video trilogy).
You know what’s very funny about the music video trilogy? At the end, Louis “the mastermind,” a mere driver (a babydriver— he even said that the movie inspired the video), walks away with the boss’ money. He helps the couple escape the crime boss’ clutches, but the video always implies that the lovers aren’t really in it for the money— they want freedom and love. Louis walks away with the money bag after tricking the boss.
This “upbeat” ending is also implied in the Walls music video. Louis basically tells a desert mirage-induced, psychedelic, hallucinatory story of One Direction’s rise and fall. The video starts with Louis high and dry, sitting on a wall with no way to escape, and basically ends with him still there. The in-between is the story of glorious rise and heartbreaking breakup, demons everywhere, ending with Louis and his solo band on an illuminated stage inspired by 2001: A Space Odyssey. It is an inspiring and romantic story but fraught with heavy emotions.
The “how” and “why” are ambiguous in these songs. Louis is always aspiring to rise above and not cast blame. He’s always praising the other guys. I think it’s all sincere, but feelings are feelings. He is human, too.

Good morning,
So, so happy for you and all of those who attended. Watching online was also breathtaking. The band was so good. Louis was wonderful and in his feels. The crowd looked so joyful. Dancing, singing, smiling, crying - so totally in the moment. Beautiful to watch Louis loving Mexico and Mexico loving Louis.
Weather wise it seemed like a nice evening. Yes? How were the openers? What are some of your top moments? What lyric got to you? Gave you chills? Made you think/say "Oh my"? Could you see the screens? What tattoo made you think "Oh this is real"?
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday, Funday, glad it is not Monday as you dance in the memories. Take care. W
Hi W!!Thanks for sharing your perspective 😭🤧🤧🤧😭. I love this quote you said "Beautiful to watch Louis loving Mexico and Mexico loving Louis." So true. I think is more easy for me to answer your questions right now that doing a recap so thank you for this:
Weather wise it seemed like a nice evening. Yes? Ok so it was nice until like 7-8 that the started to look a lot of clouds on top of us and they started to souns like a warning. I was worried but suddenly (Louis the Sun doing his magic) there was no cloud and the sky look clear again. It wasn't cold it was fresh I didn't wear a sweater, probably why Louis choose that perfect outfit.
How were the openers? Omg Giant Rooks were so freaking good. Is a shame that not a lot of people were there when they open (they were the first and play it at 7) and not a lot of people know them, but I hope they gained some fans, they said they will be back. For DMA'S I think they were amazing, I'm still not that familiar with his music, I listened to them before the show and really like them, but I do think the crowd need it more energy sadly they were yelling and clapping at some point but not enough, I hope they still felt some love.
What are some of your top moments? Gosh I think first was the Greatest intro, the screens, the band saying the ohohoh and then the Faith In the Future writing of Louis in the screen I almost lose it right there, I was going to cry I really couldn't believe I was there.
KMM was iconic, and it just felt that Louis was waiting for the traditional iconic fan project created by the fans in Chile. When he says here we go and we all started to doing the lights was magical. And I saw a video for feqw we were so many and look incredible, I can't believe I was part of that.
I mean all the songs had something special, we were so loud in btm, hoth, chicago, night changes, 505, all of them. I love every aecond of each song.
I think being part of the fans projects was something special for me. I always love seeing the fan projects and going from seeing them on livestreams or videos to being part of them in person was so special and the fact that Louis love them make me so happy. There were 3 fan projects the SIBWAWC that for a clip I saw it work 😭🤧 and Louis love it, also the Walls project with the lights of the mexican flag and fan signs that says Mexico Loves You (I don't know if this work out haven't see videoa with the lights). Same for Saturdays it was with white and red lights look really beautiful for the clip I saw.
What lyric got to you? The one of Angels fly "You'll be okay, we can talk tomorrow I'm on my way with some time to borrow" and Saturdays "My heart might be broken But I won't be broken down"
Gave you chills? Made you think/say "Oh my"? Probably Out Of My System Louis and the band were so freaking incredible.
Could you see the screens? The screns is the only thing I could saw ☹️. Before Louis the people in front of me were in an angle where I can saw the stage but then they move and it was only the screens for me sadly. Only saw once Louis silouette.
What tattoo made you think "Oh this is real"? You meam like a moment that make me realize thia ia real? Or a tattoo from Louis? I don't get that question but. If ia the first one besides the greatest intro probably when Louis started speaking. If is the second one uhm I couldn't see a tattoo of him in the screens.
Thank you for your questions W. I hope you have a lovely day.

2022 Louie wrapped
Favourite song on Walls: Kill My Mind (probably still my all time favourite)
Favourite song on FitF: Silver Tongues (this was a much harder choice)
Favourite FitF single: Silver Tongues
Favourite music video: Walls (OOMS from FitF era)
Most played song on Spotify by Louis: I don’t Spotify (and nor should anyone who cares about artists) but I guess Just Hold On probably has the most all time streams because it was the only one for so long.
Favourite Louis lyric: This has to be the hardest category. Do I go for:
Metaphorical - It’s an old curse, dreamers divin’ head first / Broken beaks and dead birds / Can’t get through the glass
Ones that drop you right in the moment - I can still hear your silence / I can still hear a clock that's tickin'
OR
I ain't even woken up yet / Not nearly vertical
Ones that comfort - And time can always heal you / If you let it make its way into your bones
Ones where I love the flow - You said grass was a dirty drug / You like to preach with a vodka in your mug
Ones with a double meaning - And it's been ages, different stages
Louis life lesson: the importance of sharing the highs and lows of life with other people.
Favorite Louis outfit: So many good looks from tour alone. Thanks Helen (and I assume Louis).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Favorite live performance: Copy on the Live from London stream. Louis knocked that right out of the park.
Favorite tour show: All of LATAM with a special nod to Santiago night one for the KMM light show that surprised even Louis.
Tagging anyone who didn’t get tagged.

Sea, I am not sure you will agree with me but when I listen to the 1D guys solo music for the first time, I always feel that I may like the production of their songs, I may love some of their vocals but I really do not love the songs. I always feel let down by their creative vision. I feel like they wasted the potential on a mediocre song which I know will become a hit because the quality of the song doesn’t have much relevance.
When I listen to Louis’ songs on the other hand, I don’t always love the production, I sometimes don’t like the vocals but in most cases I like the song. I always feel like it was a song worth making.
I don’t know if anyone else has had that feeling. The songs always being interesting, pulling you in, making you feel something. The funny thing is that the songs I associate with the least are either his favourites or fan favourites like KMM or Written all over your face.
Interesting points!
I can only answer from my own experience. For Louis’ songs, I almost always love his voice, even if it isn’t technically amazing (sometimes the engineers/ producers overdo the auto tuning and the vocals sound muddy). I love that Louis sings with emotion, the way theater singers do, almost as if he’s telling a story, acting it out. I love the conversational, plaintive, “dialogue” aspect of the singing. It’s a little bit like old time folk songs or epics, each line telling new nuance or information.
I love that Louis’ songs show psychological intelligence. There’s seldom a cheap and lazy hook; the choruses and bridges always mean something. Even in his most “pop” songs like Back To You, the choruses mean something, and they often mean something deeper and more revealing at the end than at the beginning.
I talked about how High In California isn’t just a feel-good drug song, and it’s not just about nihilism or Dionysian freedom, but really about identity— the courage to be true to oneself despite the world judging, despite hardship and “blue” times of sadness— that safety and liberation can be just around the corner.
Similarly, Paradise, despite the title, isn’t really about escape or fantasy, but about grounding oneself, finding one’s way— righting the horizon so that the path you set for yourself is filled with purpose, no matter the detours. Purpose is paradise. The means of reaching one’s goals are as relevant as the goals themselves; don’t get discouraged because things seem easier for other people.
(Louis is a Homeric songwriter, always writing about his own difficult journey home.)
Louis once made a lyric video for Just Like You that showed that our troubles are all similar; people of all ages feel the same kinds of emotions. This is why young children and old people all love his songs. This is why seeing him perform can be such an intensely emotional experience— because he is, in a way, telling our stories too.
At times, it is fun to slide into Louis’ mind and enjoy the adrenaline-fueled chaos. He is such a fun person, the life of the party, and has songs that show it. These tend to be the less introspective songs, but that’s ok too.

Sun 8 Sept
A terrific interview with Louis in Forbes magazine of all places, weird flex but okay: his team is definitely looking to reach some new audience, I'm into it! "I think it’s very important to push the boundaries and it makes me feel a lot better," says Louis (about music not promo but hey whichever), and he talks about his influences playlist and how great it is to get the fans into the music he loves that might be new to them; he later liked a tweet from a fan talking about getting into those bands because of him. But reader, here is where we really get into it: Louis, when asked "what would be the coolest thing you could hear someone say about these songs you turned them on to?" does not say anything about getting people into a particular sound or genre: he replies, "I’m big on lyrics... if there’s a song or a lyric or something that I resonate with and then I get feedback from the fans that they also like that, it makes us feel even more connected and even more on the same page... the amazing thing for me is it gives me a chance to have a real, genuine, direct relationship with my fans." Yes. Yes we have connected with you around your lyric tweet choices Louis. Sometimes in ways that I need to go lie down thinking about. (*my brain playing a swirling montage of Louis' song posts as I lie with a cool cloth on my fevered brow*)
He also says, "I’m always looking for clever and different ways to involve (the fans) and feel like they’re included in the whole creative," and in discussion of songs he'll play live soon, "I think there are a couple.. on the album... that are written with fans in mind. So a little bit more sentimental songs and those are always special moments where... I can make eye contact with people in the first few rows and I can watch their brains thinking about the lyrics and how it relates to them." Watch us fucking cry you mean! There's a lot coming down the pike friends. A lot.
Niall hung out with Sam Smith ("we always have a laugh, Sam and I! Road trip with McDonald's and singing in the car"), presumably going to Ed Sheeran's wedding party which took place last night, and we got video of them eating burgers in the car and then we got Niall back at home chatting and posting about the trip (q: I thought you were too OCD to eat in the car? a: I got it cleaned it as soon as I dropped Sam off) and about getting back to it with music. "I’m so pumped. Ready to goooooo. Bored of being at home doing mixes" he said, "get me back on stage asap," and, on a pic of his band, "getting the crew back together." On playing arenas this time he said, "if I can sell them out, I’ll play them;" high bar but okay.
Who else went to Ed's party? Did the rest of OT4? Someone said Harry was there; they were seemingly talking out of their ass but I mean yeah, probably, I imagine they all were pretty likely.
Liam posted a pic of himself showered in confetti; Capitol radio and one of their DJs posted the full version, which is him being interviewed! We're really about to be hit with promo from all sides friends, are you ready?
Meanwhile on instagram two separate things happened (clarity edit lol): Harry followed an (American) football player. Separately, David Kitson, the animator of the TOU and KMM lyric videos, liked a comment naming him as the maker of the JLY video.

I am interested in reading a honest 'positive' and 'negative' take on louis' career right now. Like what is working and what is not. Only if you have time lol.
Hi, anon. Thank you for the ask!
What is working:
Louis himself, who remains driven and passionate, genuine and warm, and approachable—although it feels like some fans need to remember he is a famous singer, not our friend. On that note: stalkers do nothing for him, are rooted in a culture of entitlement and invasiveness, and create resentment within the fandom.
Obviously his music, which is outstanding—including music videos, concerts, etc.
Merch and assorted design stuff like the Walls mural or the AFHF website.
But his talent and hard work are constantly undermined and their potential wasted.
What is not working is as simple and complex as his team, who is not working for him. With the exception of tour management.
It is all too clear his press is not working. A blogger pal of Simon Jones got the exclusive of him having the third biggest livestream of 2020. Unbelievable. And there was nothing for AFHF—not before and not after. [They also launched the website two days before and abandoned the Twitter account at the start of the concert.] His most extensive press in 2020 was about Freddie, and in 2021 about a future hypothetical management company—soon after Project Defenceless... Now there’s his name linked to Lottie’s tabloid press or Liam dragging it into 1D reunion talk.
This ties back to promo, which has been minimal and with issues at the core. Just thinking of WMI—a questionable choice of single—Louis has some beautiful lyrics, yet it was ‘meet you at your uni […]’ that was highlighted in order to talk about his non famous girlfriend? No one can think that a selling point.
And since he started his solo career years ago—through several stops and starts—there’s been no change in how he is presented to the public—look at the feature interviews for KMM and Walls, for instance: focus on fatherhood, his personal tragedies, One Direction. Also his smoking addiction. And working behind the scenes, or even—insanely—retirement. He has been erased as an artist and his personal life twisted into the [substandard] promotion of his music in a way that does not benefit him. Same with the focus on the band. It’s almost 2022... how does he still have that same bio from 1D days?
His team have done nothing for his artistic visibility or credibility.
While there is power in a massive fanbase, it certainly does not translate into artistic credibility. More so when Louis was specifically targeted as a singer as far back as XF—and only recently recognised for his songwriting in 1D, which does not help all that much, because unfair though it may be 1D still means little more than silly boyband with ridiculous, teenaged fans. [And note the tone of BMG's article, which called Louis One Directioner, and Simon Rugg using #LouisArmy...] When that band he donated to got an interview at a local BBC station, the interviewer mocked the fact they—an indie band—were now connected to 1D. Or look at how Sam Fender talked about Louis as well, going on about his keysmashing fans.
Having no kind of peer interaction outside Liam and Niall, if that—zero presence in the music industry except as support for others is both unfair to him, and a problem, in my opinion.
Then, what is done for his music to reach people? Interviewers in the US were not even aware he had had a single before WMI. Notable how his sound defining songs: Miss You back in the day, KMM, and Walls, were never sent to radio. There hasn't been decent playlisting on Spotify in years? Why not release a Spotify single, for example?
He is first and foremost an artist, and his platforms—even more so considering his situation—should be used to showcase him as an artist. Twitter and Instagram and You Tube are where people will go outside of Spotify to find his music.
It's strange it can be controversial to say that weeks and months of zero music content do not work. We shouldn’t know he has been in the studio through stalkers—why has there been only one pic in the studio all year?
And it matters too in that a lack of relevant content from him, and seeing him only in supposedly private settings or on other people’s accounts leads to fans stalking everyone around him—so much for privacy concerns regarding his private life—and to people getting bored and fighting, because the fanbase is irremediably fractured. This can lead to fans leaving. And while he might have gained fans during the pandemic—and the demographics of these must be taken into account—there’s also been no concerted efforts to retain these fans either.
In summary: everything that isn’t working is because it’s been made to work against him. Because he has been made to tread water, with no forward movement. Because he isn’t allowed to be known as an artist, and the focus is continually shifted away from him and his music. There is much that could and should be done for him—outside a single release, in preparation for future music—but what’s changed even from the release of Walls almost two years ago already?
