He'll honestly think they're really weird at first but eventually warms up to them once he realizes it's genuine and he will find a way to become their friend one way or another (and totally not freak out about it)

Ok, this is the last I’ll say about this:

PLEASE don’t reblog everything unchecked. PLEASE do your own research before you reblog stuff unquestioned. Don’t rely on other people’s often questionable “summaries”. The unsubstantiated crap I’ve seen on here today is honestly starting to get embarrassing, and people reblog it without as much as checking if it’s true. I’ve listened to the thing in its entirety, and I still don’t blog about it and won’t. My guess is that the majority of people who reblog haven’t listened at all and just rely on what other people write. That’s how you create echo chambers that align with your own bias, and that’s also how you spread misinformation. And we have plenty of that by now.

The latest thing I’ve read is that Boris Johnson (former UK PM) owns Tortoise Media. No, he doesn’t (in fact, they’ve dragged him several times. The fact that his sister, who he doesn’t get along with btw, was involved in this particular report doesn’t change that one bit. She used to be Conservative, then changed to the LibDems and is now Independent. Her other views are a different topic). And it’s all very easy to find out and takes barely a minute.

The person who spreads that misinformation also writes that the “Conservative Party is further to the right than the Tories”. Dude, the Tories and the Conservatives are the SAME PARTY! 🤦🏻‍♀️ And people reblog it and vehemently agree. I’m sometimes just despairing on here.

Viole says that he never really thought about it, but that if he were to be an animal, he would like to be some kind of bird, like an eagle, or just something that can fly, like a butterfly. He says he fought some Eagle Owls recently and thought they were cute, so perhaps that’s why he thought of them.

Khun says that he shares a lot of similarities with Sweetfish, as ambush hunters, and I think I would agree for other reasons as well. (Khun would not take kindly to being called a ‘catboy,’ so I didn’t bring it up to him, although Rak agreed that Khun is like a cat. In this case, Khun responded that he would like to be a fox or mountain lion, but Viole and I felt that the fox is the more fitting out of the two. Speaking of Viole, he found the idea of Khun as a ‘catboy’ very funny.)

Rak… says that he only sees himself as a Wraithraiser. This is not surprising.

Shibisu said that he sees himself as a Myan? He described it as a small creature that can transport things it eats to any other Myan in the tower, and said he related to it as they are physically weak but hold great potential as a supportive and protective friend. I thought this was very accurate, even though I haven’t seen these shinheuh.

Hatz answered that he is probably most like a dog. After meeting the Canine people, I have to agree.

Elaine still sees herself as a Grey Wolf, and Fenryl seems to like that answer.

While I have not properly met Anaak Jahad, Shibisu says he will relay Endorsi’s and Anaak’s answers.

Endorsi says that she sees herself as a tiger: a beautiful, elegant, and ferocious beast. Khun seemed to have something to say about this, but decided against it.

Anaak said that she sees herself as a Giant Six-Legged Lizard. Shibisu says that Endorsi found this very funny.

I think I would be a bird. One of my old friends once told me that it was my destiny to fly in a larger space than where we came from, and I want to prove him right.

I feel like Amon hasn't prayed often in a while because of his past, but he may still on occasion (habit), and may get back into it properly after actually resolving his feelings with the past. At some point Kaneki starts to join him. He doesn't really know How to pray, especially since a lot of it is in silence, he probably just kneels there and silently wishes for safety for his friends, for strength and resolve, etc. etc. But when Amon starts saying the actual prayers out loud he just sits there and listens to him quietly saying them.

At some point Kaneki might start mumbling along with them, he vaguely knows some of the prayers and has heard Amon say them enough times to kind of know them. Amon is surprised when Kaneki starts doing that and it just kind of becomes a Thing; maybe Kaneki even asks Amon to tell him how to pray the rosary since he sees him doing that often as well (when the rosary is prayed in a group there's one person leading that says the first half of most of the prayers and the rest say the other half, and I think it would be interesting with them alternating like that)

While Kaneki isn't catholic himself he finds it reassuring, while it's unlikely to him that there's someone out there that'll actually grant his prayers it's a nice thought, y'know? It's also just very relaxing there, even if it was kind of awkward at first

I also think Kaneki would be atheist, while he wouldn't completely deny the possibility of there being a god of some sort he also isn't really a follower of any particular belief system (note: ive actually been informed that there is a better term for this, agnostic, which is essentially being neutral lol). I think Amon would know this, and therefore doesn't really know why Kaneki chooses to pray with him despite this, but he figures that Kaneki does have a lot of things he would want to pray for, things he would want to seek forgiveness for, too, and he appreciates that Kaneki is willing to spend time with him like this anyway.

I've been procrastinating on this for too long. I'm gonna do a brave thing now and watch [S] Collide and regardless of whether it'll emotionally destroy me, leave me completely ambivalent or cause any of the other infinite possible reactions I'll boot up Steam and play something and take my mind off. terfs when a study shows literally anything positive about trans people/transitioning: 'hm i think this requires some fact-checking. Were those researchers REALLY unbiased? Because if they were biased this doesn't count and if they weren't knowingly biased they probably were unconsciously biased, woke media affects so much these days. Have there been any other studies on this? Because if there haven't been this could be an outlier and if there have been and they all agree that's a bit odd, why aren't there any outliers, and if there have been and any disagree we really won't know the truth until we very thoroughly analyze them all, will we? Were there enough subjects for a good sample size? Did every single subject involved stay involved through the whole study because if they didn't we should be sure nothing shady was going on resulting in people dropping out. Are we 110% sure all the subjects were fully honest and at no point were embarrassed or afraid to admit they didn't love transitioning to the people in charge of their transition? Are we 110% sure none of the subjects were manipulated into thinking they were happy with their transition? In fact we should double-check what they think with their parents, because if the subjects and their parents disagree it's probably because they've been manipulated but their cis parents have not and are very unbiased. How many autistic subjects were there because if there weren't enough then this doesn't really study the overlap between autistic and trans and if there were too many then we just don't know enough about what causes that overlap to be sure this study really explains being trans and isn't just about being autistic. How many AFAB subjects were there because if there weren't enough this is just another example of prioritizing AMAB people and ignoring the different struggles of girls and women and if there were too many how do we know sexism didn't affect the results. Was the study double-blinded? We all know double-blinded is the most reliable so if this one wasn't that's a point against it even if the thesis literally physically could not be double-blinded. Look i'm not being transphobic, i want what's best for trans people! Really! But as a person who is not trans and therefore objective in a way they cannot possibly be, i just think we should only take into account Good Science here. You want to be following science and not being manipulated or experimented upon by something unscientific, right?'

SCIENCE. Just good ol' unbiased thorough analysis. I see absolutely no reason to dig any deeper on this and if you think it's wrong you're the one being unscientific. It's really a shame you've been so thoroughly brainwashed by the trans agenda and can't even accept science when you see it. Maybe now that someone has finally uncovered this long-lost study from 1985, we can make some actual progress on the whole trans problem.'

(Note: I am going to apply real-world ethics to a fictional story! I am doing this on purpose because I'm curious about how to solve the ethical dilemma. I am aware it doesn't have to be this deep.)

I keep trying to figure out what I would do, hypothetically, if I was the Doctor, to keep from being unethical to my companions or at least to avoid the things people commonly call the Doctor out for when it comes to companions.

Suggestions welcome!

The rules I am considering are the following:

1. You have to assume that there will be danger, no matter how careful you are in selecting your trips. Something will inevitably happen sooner or later to turn it into a Doctor Who episode. Even if you try to settle down and stop travelling, the plot will find you

2. You can't isolate yourself forever. Think of every time you've had an anxiety- induced urge to never talk to other people again, and now imagine you can live for thousands of years. It's not happening

3. Anything that causes the Doctor to stop existing is off the table, so no eternal chameleon circuit allowed

4. Let's also assume travelling with other time lords is also not an option - whether because Gallifrey is gone or because you find each other insufferable is unknown

With that in mind, I'm curious to see people's potential solutions to the following problems:

1. How to travel with people, which inherently puts them in danger, without it being unethical to them or to their families

2. How to stop travelling with people without it leading to resentment and anger on their part when they run into you years later

3. Optional bonus problem: how to make up for treatment of past companions as depicted in what passes for canon
