Just was thinking about how our anti posts for Melville are never ever intended to be aimed at making milkvans change their minds! They’re for us analyzing byler!! They’re for people who already agree not for those who disagree!! Nobody is really being just a melvin hater. I think we all can’t stand the homophobic shippers more than the actual ship Itself. The issue isn’t they ship it over byler it’s the fact /they/ have issues with us analyzing contrary to their ship. And rather than just saying they think Melville is endgame they have to be homophobic about it towards those who think byler is endgame despite the fact they were more popular before s4. They try to convince US rather than our anti minivan posts are for us not for them! This person aimed entire analysis against byler endgame TO us to make us feel delusional when all we been doing is just be excited. It’s be different if people were harassing Noah or sth and that the motive. But nobody was doing this so it just come across annoying and rude. That why we think antis are homophobic because you antagonize us just for analyzing byler is endgame. You can think it’s not endgame on your own space and that doesn’t make you homophobic obviously but when you aim it at us it comes off so homophobic and rude. I’m not sure if these posters were Melville but it’s almost same logic at this point like if you’re just antagonizing queer shippers for shipping it and calling them delusional it’s p homophobic to me. It’s different if it’s in response to people acting poorly but we’re just antagonizing for people shipping and hoping for endgame - how can you not see how it comes across??? We don’t care about the ancient queer baiting ships that were huge before any chars were even confirmed queer. Our ship got big coz they confirmed Will is in love with Mike and because and it’s open ended how Mike feels. END OF!!
In the end of the day, exterior positive or negative commentary by cast and crew for byler don’t matter unless it’s them saying explicitly no as a matter of fact - see johnlock and destiel. (I’m johnlock so not anti). However nothing in the show said how Mike feels. Loving another character does NOT say they don’t love also another see Archie with Betty and Veronica (comic or riverdale) this what I love triangle IS! I saw byler in s2 so I’m confident since then coz there’s no reason to show a close shot of Mike’s hand touching Will’s a la:
Tumblr media
Anyway enjoy Mike reciprocating Will’s love:
Tumblr media
At the end of the day even anti Melville meta doesn’t matter or blue meets yellow in the west analysis - what does matter is simple stuff like they’ve set up a love triangle. It’s common sense that it’s reciprocated whether Mike is gay or bi! It doesn’t matter most love triangles have one party who loves more than one person or is dating another. Archie literally said he loved Betty and Veronica in one season of Riverdale and is always in comics can’t decide between them! It’s not unrealistic or delusional to think Mike and Will is requited even if the monologue is genuine! They also set it up like benverly she thought the poem was from Bill so she loved him till she realized the poem was from Ben and you can say his weight is parallel with Will being queer and they both would think there’s 0 chance their love is requited and it was because the poem and painting act a representation of loving a person for who they are not what they look like or gender etc. anyway bylers I love you! Sorry we had to see so much anti takes in one day. ✨💚

I think it's funny that I've seen some defense regarding Mike's queer coding literally being that "he's not interested in any girls except El" bc that's just simply not how that works (in most cases).
Like I know people joke about their sexuality changing for one person, usually a celebrity, or someone else who's unattainable, but it's rarely ever the actual case. And I also know that it's a TV show so it doesn't necessarily have to be realistic but it's still interesting to think about.
I say this because we have literally no evidence to support Mike being into girls, at all. When talking to Dustin abt Suzie, comparing her to Phoebe Cates, he's has a disgusted-esc look on his face. He has no posters of girls (at least none where they are the focus) on his wall, but he does have posters of buff (fantasy) men. I also wanna mention the 'one way' sign pointing into the closet bc it's honestly iconic. They make a point of Robin commenting on Nancy's Tom Cruise poster, so we know that it's not crazy to be paying attention to these things.
All this to say that most characters in the show have moments of being attracted to people even while in a relationship (given sometimes it's just them talking about celebs or characters but still, I'm pretty sure the only time Mike's done that was w/ Cates and I already discussed that). The defense of Mike "only being attracted to El" is so unrealistic and would be really weird writing.

Idc I want either Will, Mike or Robin to say the words:
"I'm gay"
In s5. Enough skirting around it and being vague and sort of hinting at it, someone should actually say it. The fact that Will had to be confirmed to be gay by Noah Schnapp and the Duffers because so many people didn't understand what the van scene/pizza scene with Jonathan was about was kind of annoying.
Although I understand why these characters haven't said it before, it's the 80s and Will of course was lying to Mike in the van scene and was in the pizza parlour with other people, not just Jonathan, and Robin was half high off truth serum whilst talking to a guy from highschool that she used to dislike.
As someone who has struggled with saying their sexuality out loud and has come out many times by just confirming people's already existing ideas, I think it would be a really cool acceptance moment for the character, to actually say it out loud, and canon confirmation that no one could deny.

Maybe I’m biased (possible) but tbh I always thought this was a callback to the one way sign into Mike’s closet:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
—aka, ‘it doesn’t have to be one way, you don’t have to be in the closet? Especially since closet imagery has followed him around like the boogeyman since S1.
It seems like such a pointed comment (like the “I’m not a dog” + “dogs travel in the baggage compartment all the time” one from argyle and then him being forced to eat fruity pizza) to something we already saw happen? Like….a slow decent into accepting he likes boys after holding onto girls so long but…yes, in with your tags, people can take it as they wish!
As a gay Mike truther, this is my favorite bi-Mike evidence

"Shit," Mike hissed through his teeth, hastily pulling out the very well-done turkey from the oven and placing it aside on the counter as a bloom of gray smoke erupted and filled the kitchen air.
A muffled "swear" is heard from the living room, a faint pout forming on the young girl's lips. Her bouncy brunette curls are tossed from side to side as she peels her eyes away from the Thanksgiving parade on TV to peer over her shoulder and chastise her older brother for his "transgressions".
"Sorry," he grumbles, pulling out a dollar and sliding it into the lid of the makeshift swear jar Abby had made. The money will end up back in his wallet at the end of the week anyway, so he offers no pushback against the girl.
More smoking from the oven ensues, flooding the kitchen and living room in an ashen veil. It's only a few seconds later that the grating beep beep beep of the fire alarm begins to go off, the noise ringing all throughout their home.
"Too loud!" Abby yells, covering her ears with both hands as she bounds toward her bedroom to try and escape the noise.
When you roll up to Mike's house, pushing through his front door with both hands occupied by the plastic bags of processed carbs and fat you bought for the night, you're greeted to him bouncing up and down on a dining room chair, one of his ears tucked into his shoulder as an attempt to spare his eardrums from the blaring sound as he wildly reaches for the smoke alarm stuck to the ceiling.
You're quick to place the bags down on the kitchen table, doing your best to avoid inhaling too much of the smoke. With the oven already turned off, you rush over to the windows, opening them up, and grabbing a discarded shirt that was left on the couch to air out the two rooms as best as you can.
You smile up at him, and after a few more attempts, he successfully snatches the alarm from its place on the ceiling, unceremoniously pulling out the batteries as he hops down from his elevated position, then tosses both the alarm and its components onto the counter, alongside his multiple failed side dishes.
"Hey," he finally greets and exhales, letting go of the breath he was holding while he wipes his brow, small droplets of perspiration accumulating on his forehead from the impromptu workout session.
It was clear that he was having quite the day. With Abby having the better part of the week off from school and Mike wanting to prepare all of Thanksgiving dinner himself, to say he was a little stressed would be an understatement.
"Hey," you respond back,  grinning as he runs his fingers through the dark curls that sit atop his head, similar to those of his younger sister.
You peer over his shoulder at the mess of dishes and other burned food before making eye contact with him once again, nudging your head toward the bags still on the table.
"Got the Chinese food."
A look of relief washes through his face as he makes his way over toward you, cupping both cheeks in his palms and pressing a chaste kiss to your forehead.
"You're a lifesaver," he mumbles into your hairline.
A giggle worms its way from between your lips when you state, "Always am."
It's not like Mike was a bad cook, per se. You've witnessed him cooking for Abby on multiple occasions, even sometimes for yourself as an apology on nights he came home later than expected, but to say he was a good cook was also a bit of a stretch, at least when it comes to meals made solely from scratch.
His specialties were breakfast foods and simple meals, ones that don't require more than five steps, like tomato soup, mac n cheese, frozen pizza, grilled cheese, and so on and so forth, with his best dish being spaghetti and meatballs. Though you were determined to sit him down and go through the step-by-step recipe for your homemade meat sauce so that he wouldn't have to keep buying the store-bought crap.
Regardless, when discussions of Thanksgiving plans arose, Mike suggested getting Chinese as an absolute last resort. So you were prepared when you eventually received the phone call from him earlier on that day "to resort to Plan B" as his "cooking endeavors kept going from bad to worse."
You could tell he was anxious about the whole thing. It was your first Thanksgiving together as a couple after having been Abby's sitter for a few years. He wanted it to be perfect. He and his sister never had much time or drive to celebrate the holiday as "families should", (his words), due to his work and money situation. It just didn't make sense for him to prepare a huge feast for the two of them and put more than a minimal amount of effort into cooking when most of the food would end up in the fridge for weeks on end. Uneaten due to texture changes after the food had been cooled, refrigerated, and then eventually warmed up again.
Ever since, their tradition has been Chinese food, something they both enjoyed and could get delivered if need be.
You reassured Mike over the phone earlier that morning, while twirling the spiral cord of your landline around your finger, that it didn't matter what type of food you ate, whether it was roasted turkey and mashed potatoes or crab rangoons and fried rice, it was about being together.
Abby peeked out of her room a few minutes later as you and Mike set the table, laying out three paper plates and setting the various dishes in the middle of them. The young girl is quick to crash into you, pulling you into a bruising hug—a bruising hug that a ten-year-old girl can manage.
"Hey Rugrat," you chuckle, ruffling her hair. "Got your favorite."
"Really?" she beams, bouncing on her heels slightly as she peers up at you with big eyes.
You kneel down til she's at eye level with you and whisper in her ear. "Don't tell your brother, but I got an extra order of crab rangoons just for you." She tries to stifle a giggle at the shared secret between you two, barely able to contain her excitement as you rise to your full height once more, sending her off with a wink and a tap on the back to wash up before dinner, taking note of the extravagance of her cute little outfit as she bounces down the hall to the bathroom. She was always the little fashionista, as you frequently compliment her on her choice of color blocking, but it's only when setting up the table for dinner that you notice that both Abby and Mike are dressed up as well.
He's sporting one of his "nicer" sweaters. It's a deep maroon color, one that's most likely been stashed away and hidden in the back of his closet for occasions such as this. The sweater is coupled with a pair of his least faded jeans.
Despite the earlier frazzles, Mike looks good, all things considered. He appears significantly less tired; his umber eyes are bright and attentive, the dark circles are subdued. Even his hair was styled, his curls set in a distinct pattern rather than ruffled and combed through with his fingers five minutes before walking out the door to go to work. It was cute how much effort he was putting in to make this holiday special for the three of you. Something that you wouldn't let go unnoticed.
While Abby is taking her time washing her hands, you round the table to where Mike stands, cup his cheeks, and pull him in for a sickly sweet kiss. His lips are chapped, but only slightly, due to your insistent scolding of him for never using enough lip balm.
His eyes are slightly glazed over when you pull away.
"You look handsome," you tease, giving a light pinch to his cheek as he continues to gaze upon you with a lovesick look.
"Don't you start," he smirks, removing your hand from his face and placing it back by your side.
"What?" You feign innocence, shrugging your shoulders while raising your palms in defense.
"I can't compliment my own boyfriend now?"
"You know what you're doing," he chuckles, shaking his head from side to side as he pulls down three cups from the kitchen cabinet, filling each with the soda you bought alongside the food.
You're about to retort when Abby makes an appearance in the dining area once more, eagerly sitting down at the table in anticipation while Mike finishes with the drinks.
You sit down beside her and admire the cute Thanksgiving decorations that are plastered all over the fridge. Various multi-colored feathered turkeys, along with a multitude of autumn plants and vegetables, are hung amongst her other drawings with random letter magnets.
You had become a big feature in her regular artwork alongside her brother. The pictures often depict the three of you together, with her in the middle and you n Mike on either side of her. You always took the chance to marvel at her artwork whenever you could, always commenting to Mike that he's got a talented little artist on his hands whenever she was within earshot.
You're amazed at how quickly the three of you became a little family, a welcomed addition to the two of them despite your worries early on about how Abby would react to you having a different role in her and her brother's lives outside of being her sitter.
Although it wasn't verbalized as articulately as she would've liked, she was glad that her brother had someone to look out for and care about him as he did for her. It also helped that you were way more fun than he was.
You're pulled out of your thoughts when Mike plops down in his seat across from the two of you.
"Still can't believe you don't like egg rolls," he mutters, motioning in the direction of his sister before taking a huge bite of the eggroll in his hand, leaving a satisfying crunch in his wake as his teeth sink into the fried food.
"And I can't believe you have such bad taste," she sticks her tongue out at him playfully as he scoffs and rolls his eyes.
"She's still young, Mikey. Her palette still has time to develop."
"Mikey?" Abby quips, quirking a brow toward her brother.
"Eat your food or you get no dessert." His skin turns a slight tinge of pink as the blush crawls up his neck and blooms over his face, clearly embarrassed at the discovery of his petname.
Abby gives you a knowing look, and the rest of dinner is spent trying to muffle your giggles and snickers. Despite the laughter being at his expense, Mike wouldn't have it any other way. The mess in the kitchen would be cleaned up later; right now, he just wants to cherish the moment.

When I See You Smile
Also on Ao3
He can't pretend it doesn't hurt a little.
Dustin and Mike Wheeler chatter about it on Max's little radio, how Eddie and Steve are spending so much time together, and how Steve had come out to them very seriously as bi, and Eddie was gay so they were hoping...
And Billy's hopes, the tiny thread of hope that he'd been nourishing without realizing it, withered and died right there.
Because Munson is a dealer, and kinda loud and annoying. But Billy is a murderer. He still has nightmares about it, waking Max and Susan some nights. What kind of monster kills their own father, inter-dimensional parasite or not? And it wasn't like Billy had been some kind of catch before that.
Steve smiles when Billy comes by the store anyway. Like he's not a murderer, a puppet for an inter-dimensional being, but a person. They had the same taste in movies, and sometimes they would sit there just talking for hours. Steve had been nice after starcourt, and it had made the crush that Billy had secretly harbored in high school bloom into a full on infatuation.
One sided infatuation, apparently.
So it was real cute, actually. Munson and Ste-Harrington. He decided that it would be cute, and it wouldn't hurt any more. Hell, if Munson and Harrington started dating, maybe then...
He didn't know what maybe was, but he was trying to be positive about the whole thing.
And when he sees the van parked by the video store, he just turns right around.
"Racking up those late fees, huh," Steve says with a grin when he finally does bring them back.
"Got a lot on my mind," Billy mumbles in response, hurrying because he thought he saw the van pull into the lot. And he's fine with Steve dating whoever he wants, of course Steve can date whoever he wants.
Billy just doesn't have to be there while it happens.
"Wait, uh..." Steve ducks his head down, and his hair falls over his eyes in that adorable way that makes Billy want to brush it back behind his ear. "How'd you like Ladyhawke?"
Billy glances back over his shoulder, his heart racing when he sees Munson waltzing up, "Good. Gotta go, Steve."
"Wait-"
"You are never going to believe the news I have for you, big boy," Munson smacks the door open and Billy winces.
"See ya," Billy waves his tapes in the air and ducks out the door that's still swinging closed from Munson's dramatic entrance.
He can't see Steve's expression, and he doesn't want to see how Steve smiles for Munson. Billy bets it's real special, all dreamy and doe eyed. So he just ducks into the camero and speeds away over Max's protests.
"You forgot milk duds, dick," She hisses.
"I had to get out of the way," He hisses right back.
"Of what?"
"Budding romance," He says, half sarcastically, throwing his hand in the air dramatically.
Max doesn't say anything back, but she must know. After all how many times has she dragged him practically kicking and screaming when he and Steve got to talking about movies and then tv and then sports...
Billy's certainly not about to come out to a bunch of snot nosed brats. But Max knows. She's heard what his dad called him enough to know what he is.
And it's fine. If there was only three gay guys in town someone was bound to be the odd one out.
That night she totally sides with him for movie night and they watch This is Spinal Tap instead of Against All Odds. She and Susan do watch along obligingly, Susan even chuckling at the 1960s jokes.
That night he can't sleep, tossing and turning in his bed when he thinks about Harrington's smile and that lock of hair.
---
Munson must be able to tell something is up because after that he starts acting really squirrely when Billy's trying to meet up. Which sucks because he could really use the weed right now.
Heartbreak being a bitch and all.
He's waiting in his car for Max to check out the videos she wants when Steve comes barrelling out of the Family Video, headed straight for Billy.
Billy blows a plume of smoke out the window.
"Alright, Harrington?"
"No," Steve isn't smiling. He looks downright pissed. "I'm not alright. You got some kind of problem with me and Eddie, Billy?"
Billy sucks in a drag and squints at the back of the van parked right up front of the store.
"Problem with what?"
"You know what."
Billy shrugs, "Enlighten me."
Steve huffs, and then deflates, "Look, I know you're working on being better. I heard about you working on basketball with Lucas, and I think that's really... great. But... I..."
Billy waits. And waits.
"You what?"
"You really don't know?" Steve blinks at him, and a shot with those big brown eyes sinks another of cupid's arrows deep into Billy's heart. He pushes his aviators up his nose to hide his face.
"Know what?"
"I thought," Harrington's blushing, and it looks so cute with the green of his vest. "That you heard that I like... that I'm... bisexual. And that Eddie's... um... And you had a problem with it."
Billy snorts, though he doesn't mean to. And Harrington cocks his head to the side.
He doesn't have a problem with it. He has an ache, a pain deep in his chest that he knows there's no cure for. It hurts so bad it makes him a little angry, a little reckless.
"That would be pretty hypocritical of me," Billy says with a sharp little laugh, "Not that I'm you know... dating material. For any gender. In any sense of the word."
Harrington just looks down, "I don't know about that."
Billy huffs, "You don't need to flatter me. I'm no threat to your boyfriend. Though you can tell him I'm gonna actually need to score soon or I'm going to go mental. My stepmother's into wreath making. You know what a wreath can do to a guy's reputation?"
He wants Steve to laugh. He wants Steve to smile. Even if it's just for a corny joke. Even if it's just as friends. He'd officiate their wedding if Steve would just throw Billy a smile once in a while.
"Boyfriend?"
"Oh. I mean," Billy waves his hand in the air, "Pre-boyfriends. Fucking. Whatever it is you all are doing."
Steve's cheeks are really pink now, "We're not... I mean... I like someone else."
"Oh," Billy pushes his aviator's up, trying to school his expression into something calmer, less manically happy. "I'm sorry, I just assumed-"
"No, I... we just gotta stick together, right. L and G and B and T... all... together," Steve makes a weird sort of half sigh sound.
"Yeah," Billy doesn't know where Steve is going with this, "That's you and me. Two B's. Sticking together."
He's never said it out loud before. He always imagined it would be terrifying, but Steve's smile smooths over some of the panic in the pit of his stomach.
"So you're not... sticking together with anyone, exclusively?" Steve rocks on his heels.
Billy snorts, "No. Plenty of girls to be not so exclusive with, but... no."
"Do you... want to do that with me?"
Billy's heart stops still in his chest. He doesn't know what expression he's making but he knows that Steve is smiling. At him. His eyes are crinkled up at the corners, and he...
"I like you, Billy," Steve's hair flops down and it's so easy to brush it back behind his ear. "Thought you were finally gonna break my teeth in about it, so I thought I'd do it first."
And Billy can, so he does. And for the first time in what feels like weeks, Billy smiles back.
"I would never," Billy sucks in some courage with his next drag, so he can say in a dry whisper, "Your smile is the best part of my day."

what kind of wallet the until dawn characters would carry
ashley
would totally have a cute little coin purse, either leather or a nice floral design, always struggles with fitting in her ID, debit and/or credit card, has way too much loose change
beth
solid colour accordion- style wallet, probably velour and red or black, tons of stamp and loyalty cards because she always takes them, even if she doesn't like the place
chris
basic black leather men's trifold wallet and he definitely keeps an old ass pokemon card in there for the times he wants to wistfully stare at it and tell people about how much he misses his wife, zigzagoon
emily
black leather women's trifold, she has all the rewards and loyalty cards and she pretends to look through her wallet whenever she's shopping somewhere because she likes to put on a bit of a show, also has all the corresponding apps on her phone and strategically plans how and when to use the discounts
hannah
has a leather women's bifold with her initials and a floral-type pattern. she keeps receipts for at least a month, so that wallet is thicc. has all kind of loose change floating around in there and sometimes just dumps it when she comes across a busker who plays a song she likes
jess
def an accordion-style or cluth wallet girl. she has cards for days. debit, credit, loyalty, whatever, she has all the cards. there's more than one expired gift card in there. she don't care
josh
probably basic black or brown leather men's bifold or trifold. definitely carries it in his back pocket and keeps a uno reverse and +4 card in there for chris reasons. doesn't even need to look, he knows where they are
matt
matt feels like a metal wallet/cash clip kinda guy. he just wants some a no nonsense kind of wallet and "cleans" it weekly. one compartment for bills, where he also stashes receipts until the next cleaning and one for his neatly organised cards. he also keeps a lucky coin taped to that wallet
mike
either metal wallet or men's bifold. probably bifold, though. stashes receipts in there until it almost bursts and/or he feels the noticeable shift in position when he sits down and then throws out everything, no mercy, no returns or refunds, even if the receipt is about 30 minutes old
sam
a two different wallets girl. probably a fanny pack/belt bag that holds basic stuff like her ID, phone, debit card, maybe even a power bank for whenever she's doing outdoor sports, definitely a velcro phone holder for indoor sports, and i can see her with a hyper-organised, either men's or women's, bi-/trifold for any occasion that's not athletic in nature

Agreed @will80sbyers. In the end, I don’t think it really matters what his sexuality is and I have doubts he’ll be labeled anyway. But I really believe Mike was interested in El romantically in season 1 and 2. Even if there was some subtle hints at heteronormativity playing a part in their relationship there is no denying he had a crush on her. The return scene in season 2 comes to mind, as well as the dance, and lots of season one too. It’s season three where things start to get muddled imo. Due to a pesky little best friend who very obviously “doesn’t like girls.” Everything is just beneath the surface in this season and I don’t think that Mike had his realization he wasn’t actually in love with El until the last few scenes.
For me, the comphet actually appears in season four the most. He’s trying to force this straight relationship with someone he’s already been aware he isn’t feeling how everyone tells him he should feel. I think he is so afraid to lose El completely that he is going along with it out of fear of abandonment and losing someone who has become his best friend as well as someone, let’s face it, he is severely trauma bonded to. That idea is so terrifying that he will do anything to make it work including shoving down feelings he has for someone else (i am in the camp that he is very, very confused over how he feels about Will.) He knows it’s there… but he is refusing to let himself go there, and I think that’s exasperated by the fact that said best friend is basically doing everything in his power to convince Mike that he is the love of El’s life and plotting to put them back together. I mean, who wouldn’t be confused by that? But I digress.
Imo I think the most comphet/using El to hide his true feelings doesn’t happen until season four and a lot of times that can be super confusing for bi people.
Additional thought: I think Mike being bisexual is the perfect way to narratively explain Mike’s flip flopping behavior too. It makes so much more sense that way WHY he can’t emotionally balance Will and El.
In the end its not about who he’s attracted to. It’s about who he’s truly in love with.
in all this gay mike/bi mike discourse that's happening, im curious
do we all agree that mileven was mike's comphet? like yeah he might be bi and interested in SOME women, and the exact hex code of mike's queerness doesn't really matter at this point (be civil ab me saying this pls) but i think at no point he was actually romantically interested in el.

Okay so because this post about Harry being a bottom I'm going to give a genuine dissertation on the thematic relevance of sub Harry and maybe a little bit about dom Kim.
First I wanna establish the "Harry is definitely a subby little bottom boy" and is also definitely Bi and probably has some sorta fucking complex about it.
Evidence A. Contact Mike, Guillaume Le Million, Measurehead (when fascist).
Harry tends to idolize and gravitate towards extremely masculine figures.
This is probably due to a reflexive need to feel masculine and have masculine role models in the face of elements of identity that are seen as unmasculine by society and have become exacerbated by the breakup which had to be pretty emasculating for Harry.
Also :
Tumblr media
Imma start a Harry's Kink counter here +1 light bondage.
Tumblr media
+1 auto-erotic asphyxiation.
Tumblr media
Uhm +1 uhh,Spanking? Additional +1 for being what I think is most possibly the horniest thought you have in the game also:
Tumblr media
+1 Kim is a Dom.
I think Harry has kept his attraction to men or his desires about men fairly low key for his entire life. The way he conceptualizes Homosexuality in general as an "underground" society filled with whispering rooms and forbidden secrets is likely more of a reflection of how Harry views his own sexuality than how Queer culture is manifest in Revachol. (In reference to the way both Kim and The Smoker kinda laugh Harry about it)
The organizational element of the idea being likely reflective of the way internalization is akin to paranoia.
Harry is also extremely intimacy starved and I think part of that is due to an unmet need for affection and the desire to be taken care of. That masculinity and status as both a survivor and an oppressor was sorta thrust onto Harry, he was born the last year of the war on a hospital floor, given a name associated with war time and survival, grew up probably in a little street urchin gang, got into *Disco* (man I'm sure Harry brushed elbows with the underground then.) Was a gym teacher a good balance between masculinity and caretaker and guardian something that harry clearly excels at and enjoys. Then Dora encouraged him to be a cop for unknown reasons perhaps prestige, money, because Harry has a bleeding heart.
Engage Heterosexual Cop hell for 12 years then an additional 6 single Cop hell years.
And now you're like :
Tumblr media
Another element is Harry's tendency to worship and diefy his partners which like man that's gotta be the subbiest fucking thing you can do. I honestly can't articulate all of the reasons why that's just extreme bottom behavior.
Harry is an empathic jelly creature who is forced to handle a job with dead people in it all day and has created this reflexive hyper masculine obsession to compensate for his perceived inadequacy in not living up to the patriarchal capitalist ideal of what's supposed to be his birthright as a well off, able bodied, 'straight', occidental, man.
Except the actual issue is that Harry is mostly perceived or perceiving himself as that, when in reality he's in clear conflict with his actual identity as a Poor, mentally Ill, bisexual, occidental, man.
And it's those last two that end up kind of making this smoke screen to Harrys deficiency in privilege. He can mask or hide behind being an Occidental Man.
Can buddy buddy with patriarchy and take up the idea of a Big Strong Manly Cop.
Something that Kim also seems to be doing by seeking out positions of authority he can compensate for the disrespect he gets as a Poor, blind, gay, seolite, man.
Last of which probably won't get him far because of how "juvenile" his body type is.
Kim can't really coast on patriarchy much the way Harry can. He has to work twice as hard cuz there's not a lot he can hide behind.
Pursuit for control in the face of denial
Vs
Shielding ones self behind control as a means of denial.
Dom/Sub dichotomy.

Stranger Things thoughts:
For someone who dislike Steve Harrington a lot. Mike Wheeler and Steve are a lot a like. They both want to be needed, and are both super protective of others. Both their parents are horrible. Plus they are both bi as hell but thats from my point of view, but moving on. Like they are a lot a like, but their position in life are like on the opposite sides of the spectrum. Steve was popular and now hes not. Mike is unpopular but he has a lot of friends and a growing family now. But than again Steve has a growing family too. And friends. But yeah my point. Steve and Mike have a lot in common. And I find it funny as hell because Mike would hate it.

Note
Are you concerned that Henry doesn’t seem to be gay after all, even though he was so heavily queercoded in the show? I mean he could be bi, but that’s not expressed in the show, right? I’m worried about what that means for mike. If the same writers accidentally queercoded Henry, couldn’t they have accidentally queercoded Mike? A lot of the ones most confident about gay Mike were also the ones most confident about gay Henry. What are your thoughts?
Potential spoilers ahead:
I mean, I have to admit, I did originally theorise that Henry could be gay. However, the show clearly makes this not apparent. It’s not expressed in the play that he’s bi, but that doesn’t mean that he isn’t in the show. I don’t see that happening though as they have other things to wrap up.
As for Mike and Byler, I really don’t think we need to worry. Yes they could’ve accidentally queer-coded Henry, which makes that possible for Mike, but it’s also possible that we misread the Henry situation. Mike has way more queer-coding than Henry did. I did think Henry could be gay or bi from how they paralleled him to Will so much. But the comparing of Henry and Will seemed to be just in the case of them being vulnerable and sensitive children.
Before the play, I thought they were compared because Will chose to be good in bad situations and Henry chose to be bad. But now the play demonstrates that the mindflayer was causing him to be bad without much of a choice. Henry’s story is very unfortunate. Will on the other hand has his friends and family to support him, something Henry didn’t have. I think the story is telling us how having support is vital in being loved and loving yourself. Because at the end of the day, nothing is stronger than platonic and unconditional love. Also though, that you can change and rise up against things that are bad and to rewrite your mistakes.
I did kind of go off on a tangent but what I’m trying to say is, I believe that Mike is a different situation. Henry’s story was just misunderstood because we didn’t know enough about it. We have had more seasons and content to analyse the queer coding of Mike. Whereas we haven’t had enough to properly gauge at the same for Henry.
Therefore, and to answer your question, I don’t believe that this has any weighting on Byler apart from being positive. The story seems to be lining up to show you how being loved and having that love can create good. It can not only fight evil and negative emotions, it can make someone complete. Whole. Will having his love returned could have massive implications on the supernatural storyline. Especially if Will had powers. Remember, both the show and the play constantly keep reminding us of the reoccurring theme of love beating evil, in relation to activating and making powers stronger.

A Valentine’s Day to Remember Eddie’s POV Part 1
This technically part 2. It will help to read this first. There are three parts like with the first story and will be put up once a day. I will tag for future parts if you want to be tagged, let me know. Preferably in the comments (I might miss them if you hide them in the tags ;) )
And the last part WILL be spicy. I will put the +18 under the cut so you know when it starts.
*
The Corroded Coffin boys were getting tired of Eddie mooning over Steve fucking Harrington. They didn’t have a problem with the guy himself. He had been a little douche-y in high school but they were so beyond the realm of King Steve that they weren’t even on the fucking map.
Nope.
The problem was how Eddie kept talking him up.
“Dude,” Brian sighed. “Just ask him out. You know he’s bi. You know he hasn’t dated in months. Just...something. Please, you’re killing us.”
Eddie growled. “It’s fine for you lot. You’ve all got girlfriends. You know, people you can actually take out in public and be all over without people throwing bricks at you.”
Jeff raised a single eyebrow at him.
Eddie deflated. “I know it’s hard for you and Kelsey, too. But of the two of us, I am more likely to get beaten to death for loving a boy then you are for dating a white girl.”
Jeff cocked his head to the side and then nodded. “Fair enough.”
“So go out of Hawkins for your date,” Gareth suggested. “Take him somewhere that even if people saw two dudes, they wouldn’t immediately clock you as couple.”
Eddie sighed. “This is King Steve with all the Harrington moves and shit. In what world would I be able to take him out on a date that he hasn’t been on a dozen times before.”
The other boys shared glances and grimaces. Eddie had a point.
Brian clapped Eddie’s shoulder. “You’ll come up with something. You always do.”
*
Eddie walked into Family Video to return a tape and chat with his two favorite employees.
They weren’t at the front so he wandered around trying to find them when he heard Steve whining to Robin: “I’m just going to work and then hide in my room until the fifteenth and hope to hell not too many couples come in looking for a romantic movie to ignore after fifteen minutes while they make out.”
Holy shit. This was perfect.
So Eddie did the smart thing and offered to take Steve out. Create the perfect date. Because from what it sounded like, everyone wanted the Harrington ExperienceTM but not actually Steve. And that was positively heartbreaking.
But now he had to plan. And one week to do it in. Eddie wasn’t worried, though. He had put together a four hour one-shot in thirty minutes. He just needed to do a little research first.
First stop: Nancy Wheeler
*
When Nancy came by after Hellfire Club to pick up Mike and Will Eddie pulled her aside for a moment.
“Hey, soo...” he hummed. “Not be all awkward or anything, but I’m taking Steve out for Valentine’s day and I kinda wondered...”
Nancy folded her arms and huffed. “You want to know what our dates were like?”
Eddie nodded shoving his hair in front of his face.
“Just normal date things,” she said. “Dinner and movies and stuff like that.”
Eddie frowned. “You didn’t do anything fun?”
“It was fun,” she insisted. He raised a questioning eyebrow. “It was! Though, I think a couple of previous girlfriends broke him of doing spontaneous stuff like picnics and bowling.”
“That’s really depressing, Wheeler,” Eddie said softly.
Nancy sighed. “Yeah, it kinda was. He liked that sort of thing, but I think the girls were expecting to be wined and dined because his parents were rich.”
“Noted,” he said. “Thanks.” He patted her on the shoulder and smiled.
She cocked her head to the side as he walked away. ‘You don’t want to know things like his favorite color or favorite dish or anything like that?”
Eddie turned around and grinned. “Where’s the fun in that?”
She threw her arms in the air in frustration as he just skipped away.
*
His first stop after talk with Nancy and finding out Steve’s favorite flower, was the florist.
The little bell chimed over head as he walked in.
A very harried looking woman at the counter looked up at him in dread. “If you want roses you’re shit out luck. There is no place in the surrounding area that has them. Please don’t ask.”
Eddie grinned. “Then you, fair lady are in luck. Because I’m not looking for roses.”
She eyed him skeptically. “Yeah? What are you looking for then?”
He pulled out the piece of paper Steve had given him. “All-strow-mary-ahs?”
Her face cleared of fatigue and she blinked. “Alstroemarias?”
Eddie beamed. “That’s the one. I’m looking for six pink and six red.”
“Come with me,” the florist said waving him to follow her to the back room. Eddie bounced up to her and let her lead him to the cooler that held all her remaining flowers. The biggest section held these small lilies of every color. Orange, purple, blue, white, pink, red, even some with multiple colors.
“Are you sure you just want pink and red?” she asked, waving her arm at her selection.
“All these are al-alstr-” he stammered.
“I just call them alstroes,” she said taking pity on him. “It’s easier.”
Eddie sighed in relief. “So all these are alstroes?”
She nodded. “Pretty flower.”
He could only agree. The red ones were bright and not dark the way roses tended to be and the pink ones were the color of the blush on Steve’s cheeks when Eddie told him it was a unique choice. He loved them.
Eddie hummed. “Yup, just the two colors, please.”
The florist smiled. “When do you want them delivered?”
He blinked. “Um...would it…I mean, I would like to pick them up myself, if that’s okay.”
She shrugged. “Sure. People just prefer to get them delivered because the store could be pretty hectic that day.”
Eddie sighed in relief. “No, no. I want to hand them to them directly.”
If she noticed the absence of any gendered pronoun she wisely said nothing. “You can also write a card to go with if you’d like. Or you can choose a standard greeting.”
Eddie pursed his lips together and licked them nervously. “I’d like to write it myself.”
She handed him the card and a pen. He carefully wrote out the note, blushing darker than flowers he was about to buy.
He handed her the card back, shoving hair into his face.
The florist looked at the card and smiled. “The language of flowers. So that’s why you wanted the specific colors.”
Eddie nodded. “I got a book out from the library. Wanted to make Valentine’s day extra special.”
She filled out the order form and using a paper clip added the card to the front of it.
“When would you like to pick up the flowers?” she asked.
“4pm.”
She wrote it down. “All right that will be $3.95.”
Eddie pulled out his wallet and paid the amount. This was the hardest part. Spending the money to make Steve happy. Not that he thought he had to spend a lot on Steve. No, the problem was that Eddie wanted to. But he also knew he had to keep to a budget as to not completely blow this out of proportion.
*
Whenever Eddie needed to know something over the course of the week, he would just ask Steve. Because just because his favorite color was green two years ago didn’t mean that it was still his favorite color. Which coincidentally it wasn’t.
Steve had called it baby blue but it was more cerulean. It was a pretty color blue if Eddie was pressed. It certainly brought out the hazel in his brown eyes.
Which was not a thing Eddie noticed. No. Nope. Nope. Not at all.
He called the florist to update the order to new color of tissue paper to wrap the flowers in. The florist nearly sobbed in relief when he said he didn’t want pink, red, or white.
Eddie had agreed to take his sheep to the arcade because he was going to be busy on Saturday. He knew that realistically that most of them had dates anyway, and wouldn’t want play that day either, but it was still something he could do for them instead of DMing that week.
“Look, man,” Eddie was complaining to Dustin, “I have a budget for this shit, I can’t just go to the fanciest restaurant in town and drop $20 on dinner. Not to mention this late in the game, there is no way I’m even going to get a foot in the door let alone get a reservation.”
They were waiting in the Wheeler’s front room on Mike, who was taking forever.
Nancy’s eyes narrowed.
“I’m coming with you to drop the kids off,” she announced just as Mike walked out.
“What? Why?” Mike asked.
“Because I need to go to the store, and Eddie can take me,” she said in the tone that booked no argument.
Eddie shrugged. “There’s plenty of room, I don’t see why not.”
She smiled, wrinkling her nose and Eddie gulped.
Eddie picked up the rest of the gremlins and dropped them off at the arcade. He turned to Nancy and said, “So what’s this really about?”
She smiled sweetly. “I’m going to teach how to make Steve’s favorite dishes and then you can decide candlelit dinner at your place or a picnic. I don’t really care which.”
Eddie blinked and then eyed her suspiciously. “Why are you helping me?”
Nancy sighed. “The one Valentine’s day Steve and I had together, I spent looking into Barb Holland’s death.” She looked down at her hands. “She was my best friend and I hated not knowing what happened to her. Steve was supportive. Because of course he was. But I threatened him that if he bought me so much as flowers or chocolates, I was going to shoot him.”
Eddie winced. “And then the last two Valentine’s days were just shit for the guy...”
She nodded. “I don’t think Steve’s had a good Valentine’s day since elementary.”
Eddie chewed his lip. “All right let’s do this. What all do we need?”
Nancy’s smile was sweeter as she patted his cheek.

Do u have any trans masc Max Mayfield headcanons?
I haven’t thought much about it but now I have so MANY thoughts!
-Max hasn’t had a lot of positive relationships with the men in his life, so it takes a long while for the “hm I don’t feel quite right” to click. He doesn’t feel super comfortable as a girl, but he looks at his step-dad and Billy and is like “well I don’t want to be anything like that, so this has to be okay.”
-He definitely knows more about gender/sexuality stuff than the others because of growing up in California. So he’s thought a lot about it over the years, but just kept coming to the conclusion that he’s a tomboy (again, no positive relationships with men.)
-It’s actually because of Lucas (and the rest of the Party, by extension) that he really starts to get more comfortable with the idea. Because Lucas is sweet, and he’s gentle, and so unlike any of the other men he’s been around. Lucas is the first person that kind of cracks his view on gender roles and what exactly defines a man.
-He butts heads with Mike a lot at first just because of how insistent Mike is about him being a girl, how he’s different and unwelcome because of it, but (if this is also transmasc Mike) they realize they’re actually really similar and grow closer because of it, or (if this isn’t transmasc Mike) Max realizes that it isn’t the “girl” thing that bothers him, it’s the fear of replacing El.
-If it’s both transmasc Max and transmasc Mike, Mike comes out WAY earlier than he would’ve on his own.
-The boys are all really supportive when he comes out (which would probably be around the season 3 era). They don’t really get it at first, but he’s their friend, and they’ve always been very vocal about how they’d kill for a friend if needed. And really, seeing Max as a boy isn’t all that different from what they were doing already, so it’s an easy adjustment.
-In a similar fashion to Max teaching El about being a girl in the show, the guys take him out on a “boys only” night. It isn’t really any different than their usual hangouts- they go to the movies, play video games, eat way too much junk food, but the boys only title makes Max feel all fuzzy and warm inside.
-He comes out to Billy while he’s dying. He didn’t ever really plan on doing it at all, but his step-brother is dying in his arms and he needs to get it off his chest before it’s too late. Billy is a lot of the reason it took so long for him to feel comfortable as himself, and he thinks Billy knows that once it’s out in the air. Unfortunately, Billy’s dead before he can really give much of a reaction, just a weak little “I’m sorry.” And that’s nowhere near enough to make up for everything.
-He comes out to his family that night in a screaming match with his step-dad. Neil is an asshole about it, but it doesn’t really matter because the whole argument starts because he’s gonna leave them. Susan is incredibly supportive, and she turns around and kicks Neil out even though she’d been begging him to stay moments before. Gives Max one of those big, therapeutic hugs where Max just sobs into her shirt.
-Max cuts his hair off after Billy’s death. He’s never had a problem with his hair, he actually likes it long, but he’s messed up over everything that happened. He leans a lot more into the stereotypes he hated as a kid, acts rougher and more stand-offish. He breaks up with Lucas, stops hanging out with the rest of his friends. He feels awful, because this is the first time in his life that he’s only surrounded by people that support and love him, but he feels like he doesn’t deserve it.
-(Vecna has a field day with all that)
-Post canon, he does grow his hair back out again. Lucas dramatically informs him that men with long hair are hot (bi king), to which Max shoots back that that would mean Mike was hot. Lucas gives Mike a quick once over and is like I mean, yeah.
-Lucas likes to greet people and go hi, yes, this is my boyfriend Max. He’s so cool. He pretty much single-handedly saved Hawkins that one time. And Max stands there with his face bright red in his hands like oh my god shut up
-Lumax and Byler double dates with an obnoxious amount of homo, striking fear into the hearts of conservative smalltown Indiana
YES I love this sorry for making it angst near the end but yes yes transmasc Max I love him💞
