favourite gale mods

an updated list of my favourite mods for gale specifically, containing general mods, as well as friendship & romance specific mods.

general mods

1 - gale beard fix (obtainable by installing it with the in-game mod manager)

this mod fixes a bug with gale's beard that causes extensive clipping issues, especially when he speaks.

2 - gale earring physics (obtainable by installing it with the in-game mod manager)

adds physics to gale's earrings. it's a small qol mod, but it really makes a difference in cutscenes.

3 - tara joins the camp (obtainable by installing it with the in-game mod manager)

this mod doesn't only allow tara to actually join camp early on, but she also has dialogue with the protag. the mod adds greetings to her, and uses gale's and tara's act 3 dialogue for a more immersive experience.

4 - gale's wizardly updo (obtainable by installing it with the in-game mod manager)

slightly alters gale's existing hairstyle and makes it (imo) make more sense. a longer version is also available from the same author.

5 - re-designed tent for gale (available on nexus)

Gale's attempt to reorganize his tent in a way that reminded him of his comfortable room in Waterdeep.

this mod adds warm lights, potted plants and much more to gale's tent to make it more reminiscent of his home in waterdeep.

another bonus of this mod is that many of gale's scene aren't too dark anymore with the added light sources, especially in act 1 this makes a huge difference. i highly recommend it.

6 - delfinition's armors (available on nexus)

adds a really nice armour variant to gale.

friendship & romance mods

1 - hug your companions - in-dialogue hug interactions (available on nexus)

this mod allows you to hug gale (as well as all other companions). it's available for all body types and is triggered by in-game dialogue. gale has a voiceline after you request a hug and after the hug itself.

2 - kisses mod (available on nexus)

allows you to use various kiss animations for gale.

bg3 moots I really recommend the mod encounter overhaul on nexus! def use on a fresh save and not on a first run (unless ur just like that)

it makes the game feel so new and fresh, and difficult lmaoo me and Chevy are on our like 8th play thru and it’s almost like the first time all over again

Oh, please tell me more about this! That feels like it would be so juicy. I've been eyeing that mod, negl. But I've had a vendetta against Shar even since her gauntlet.

If i recall correctly although unfinished, since they took it out from the release, you still get lots of content in act 1, 2 and some in act 3 as well. If I recall correctly cleric of selune had 32 lines of dialogue back in 2022 and cleric of shar had 74,which is quite the difference. The dead three cleric, bane and bhaal had like 10 or 11 lines before the devs got rid of them in the diety list, but there's also mods that restores myrkul, bane and bhaal as deities for the dialogue. The bhaal deity dialogue choices are so unhinged though lol. I also did a good playthrough with shadowheart and cleric of selune and it was really good as well, but I am also throughly enjoying my dark urge cleric of shar, 'let's make each other worse' and dark justiciar shadowheart romance route. You get quite a few unique interactions with shadowheart, as well as the gauntlet of shar and yugir, balthazar and I think the rats and some special interactions with the selunite clerics. I do reccomend it if you ever want to do an evil playthrough, idk how it plays out if you don't make shadowheart a DJ though. 👀

modders really are wizards. finding things that are removed, making things there better, adding [mostly] new shit. but i keep wondering why they deleted a cleric of shar; could they Only Be One? bc 74 is a whopping LOT, because everyone always said that selunite clerics had the most interactions so to have had DOUBLE that. whew. and ugh it would have been so great bc act to gives you so much! and imagine if your sharic was romancing HALSIN instead or too. LIKE DANG, like okay sure you could just play as shadowheart and romance halsin but still.

negl a cleric of bhaal seems like it would be fun to do in a multiplayer PT, against a resist durge :-D

well, i suppose it would be very angsty. choose between your love and your goddess.

#that's why people are starting new games! if I don't use mods it's fine then? 😗

okay that makes a little bit more sense lol. anyways the errors i was having were the being unable to save (which i believe was a vendor issue) and then not being able to use the magic mirror ones. i don't have those issues anymore. i don't follow when larian releases hotfixes/patches so idk if that fixed either of them but i went and updated every single mod i could, which included the script extender and improved UI. after those updates, i no longer had those issues.

modding is always going to come with risks, of course, but if you follow the "how to install" guides they all have + download any mods the one you want requires, it should work fine. but with a new release like bg3 you really need to be checking for mod updates like once a week for ones like script extender or improved ui bc of the patches/hotfixes. they're easy to update if you've already downloaded them once to mod the game in the first place, and there's plenty of videos on how to start modding the game, too.

watching people say they have to restart the game bc patch + mod = issues is so. oh my god. if the game broke bc of outdated mods a restart isn’t even gonna fix the issue firstly. 😭 secondly part of modding is that when your game breaks you look for updates for mods bc that’s how the process works. if you’re not willing to update your mods you shouldn’t be using them in the first place 😭
