okay tbh i cant confirm if this is true cuz i havent even beaten the game yet HA but people wouldnt lie on the internet right.... but anyways i saw that someone said one of wyll's romance endings is that he becomes a duke and you guys get MARRIED omg... and it has been on my mind all day and now im having very intense aza/wyll thoughts but mostly aza though aha

listen. just. just listen. okay. picturing aza going from a painfully awkward and socially inept crypt keeper living underground among the dwarves and the deceased, to the wife of the charismatic, renowned grand duke of baldur's gate, UGH. learning to socialize properly with nobility, learning how to maintain small talk, adjusting to the sheer size of their estate, free of cold drafts and water leaks. and the SUNLIGHT? the way it shines through the windows every morning, to remind her another day has come? and how much more comfortable the beds are when they're made of fur and feathers, not stone. and the way she's obviously very out of place, especially as a tiefling living among the upper echelon of baldur's gate, i'm sure she sticks out like a sore thumb. i'm sure she's turned lots of heads while incessantly infodumping about the best way to preserve a dead body, not yet understanding that nobility often aren't fixated on such things the same way she is lol. she's still a little weird and unsettling and unsure of how to handle herself in such a new environment, but hey... it's a lot more fun learning the nuance of courtly dance than it is trying to get a wriggly tadpole out of your head! she'll take the fright of social anxiety over that any day.

ok i have a lot of thoughts. erm. buckle in

im sure everyone agrees that the joker vs sumire fight on jan 9 was so nothing..... so i wanted to raise the stakes. UP THE ANTE.

so to make it more intense life-and-death situation, in my head sumire basically tosses her own life away at joker in a "one of us is gonna die here and honestly? i dont care which way the cards fall"

"either i die here -> sumire doesn't have to live anymore. or, i kill you and i get my true reality (and sumire doesn't have to live anymore.)"

joker notices this immediately, by the wild way she fights all of a sudden. however crow doesn't notice bc i think he sees sumire as inexperienced and just assumes joker will win by default (like he does in canon. nothingburger fight.....)

but joker is too damn cautious, knowing one wrong move might result in her demise or his downfall...

i think here he only deflects with his melee, doesn't even try to summon his personas. crow notices smth is off and then sumire manages to get a deep hit on him w cendrillon+her sword

which activates crow bc. at this point he dgaf abt sumire BUT he doesnt want joker to die.

(ironically, crow's selfish goal to Help Joker helps sumire bc she then realizes that she's being irrational/hurting one of her dear friends (akira).. she didnt really think abt how this choice of the ideal reality would affect him (or goro)

also i always thought crow just walking away frm that fight was kinda lame so. just the idea of akira Faltering... about to let himself get killed.. in a way Giving In to the Wrong Choice of the ideal reality.... yeah that'd piss him off BIG time

(though, if i framed it in the way this comic does, crow walking away at first to let joker handle it is so real. bc hes like i cant be wasting time on this, just let akira handle her and then we can go back to figuring out how to conquer this palace and maruki etc. Sumire is small potatoes rn)

also akira being too compassionate/sensitive abt her emotions to fight her directly bc he can see how shes barely hanging on by a thread.. ough ough ough.....

but also sumire being so angry and desperate that she dgaf if she hurts akira rn. OHHHH OUCHHH OWIE

but since when did fake dating involve.. this much intimacy? wonyoung is still whining about how much your action pained her, you panicked okay?!, but the casual way she rests her hand on your hip and her face nuzzles into your neck, placing kisses which seem to be dangerously lowering with every successive brush of her lips on your skin.., just seems a bit too real to be considered a show.

when you’d asked her, wonyoung had an answer ready at the tip of her tongue, “we need to practice; yn c’mon you seriously don’t expect people to believe us if you keep acting all stiff. we need practice.” and voila, she’d invited herself into your house.

you ignored the dull glint of .. something you couldn’t really understand in her usually bright eyes. you ignored how her rigid expression felt like a knife to your heart.

“hey.,” 2 hands press against your face, forcing your lips into a little pout, “pay attention to me.” you think she’s still being playful, but her expression is the most serious you’ve ever seen it.. 

and then, a featherlight touch of her lips on yours.

it leaves you a little dizzy, to be honest. you’ve kissed before, and this was barely even considerable comparing your past ‘practice’ sessions with wonyoung.. so maybe it’s something about this moment in particular. 

you’d long accepted that she’d only remain a hallway crush, an alluring daydream. because you knew there was no way you could get over her unless.. unless maybe if you got the closure you needed. that you and her could never happen. which was why you’d accepted her plea to be her fake girlfriend. 

you’d hope the way she was basically using you would be enough to knock some sense back into your love lost brain. but it didn’t. you realized if it was wonyoung, you’d be okay with her doing whatever, however, whenever she wanted.

and maybe.. maybe your feelings weren’t completely hopeless. maybe you had a chance.

“wah yn- c’mon do you want me to beg?” wonyoung asks, her arms now moving to pull you closer to her, embracing you ever so tenderly, “i’ll do it if you want, you know? pleasee~ tell me why you were late to the party? you said something about an issue?”

you sigh, “it’s..complicated. a really long story. and it’s 2 am..”

“so? we have all the time in the world.” 

it’s really hard to argue with her in your current position, especially when her fingers are tracing soothing, mindless patterns on your back.

wonyoung decides you need further convincing, mumbling a “i want you to speak your mind around me yn.. let that mask of yours drop now.. please?” to do so.

gods, at this point you’d even tell her all your banking information if she wanted you to.

ok Ive been unable to do anything on my commute but listen to Lana del ray and play with fake aliens. This is everyone else's problem now

chauncey nilufer-ieri is a betazoid and one of the youngest SICs in Starfleet. his parents are dad 1. worlds most charming professional storyteller and dad 2. politician scarred by the dominion occupation who now wants Betazoid to secede from the Federation and is dipping his toe into terrorism. dad 2 is also an extremely powerful telepath who's blazing a trail for Thought Insertion and mind control. chauncey gets along well with both, but they both want him to be either 1. more emotionally demonstrative, fun, artistic, friendly, or 2. more sedulous in practicing what may be record-breaking telepathic abilities. He joined starfleet in a vague effort to get away from them and from all the other betazoids who want to get in his head. He thinks it's rude. he's a massive mindprude.

He's not as reserved outside of his head. He has a detached but genuine love for whiskey, plays several instruments, dances, raconteurs, cockfights and gambles (most people won't play cards with a betazoid, sadly). Like many Betazoids he also enjoys casual hookups.

Anyways, he has other things to do with his life then let people poke around in his pretty gourd.

His parents were Soulmates. Their minds Resonated with each other before they even locked eyes. They knew everything about each other instantly, all the dark crevasses and bright ambitions, and accept and love each unconditionally other even though they don't like each other much anymore (see: terrorism). Chauncey grew up on the Romance of Resonant Soulmates thinking that it was something that he'd probably never experience. And then he found his!

On his 2nd year externship his ship was caught in a skirmish with some Romulans and he was briefly in the same room as Captain Stephen Breckinridge, Starfleet Darling, who had rushed to their rescue, and his mind Resonated with his.

He understood the Captain completely. his daring professional successes built on lack of regard for rules. his bad temper and his fierce loyalty. personal regrets and weird quirks. and Chauncey's life instantly switched track from idk retire early and open a whiskey distillery on tellatran-1 to serve captain breckinridge in every conceivable way, including twisting the universe to suit his needs. and even though he's never actually met the man (!) and he probably doesn't even know chauncey exists (he's not even a telepath!) he's going to become the greatest captain in starfleet history if chauncey has anything to do with it.

Chauncey might have assisted the Federation in some very illegal telepathic war criminal interrogations in return for them reinstating Breckinridge after a particularly grievous Starfleet regulations violation. He also made them get Breckinridge a ship (it's a BUSTED ass ship) and a mission (that nobody else wanted). and Chauncey's his totally unrelatedly chosen chosen SIC. and NOBODY on the crew knows that this was all engineered.

Would he love it if Breckinridge fell in love with his incredibly competent and handsome but somewhat remote, mysterious SIC? of course. but ultimately he's just happy to be near him. share private jokes. reparteè. some fun alien adventures. To know he's happy is enough. And to subtly nudge events to position things so that His Captain will be wildly successful and happy (with varying levels of success.)

Iskra, his cardassian friend, finding out that the entire crew's lives and the potentially quadrant-changing ramifications of their mission have been engineered by one teenager's single-minded erotomaniac fixation: OH HOLD THE FUCK ON. LET ME CALL MY YADEK. LET ME CALL MY YADEK. OH MY GOD.

Her name is Cynthia and shes mad ALL THE TIME. A simmering fury, always bubbling below her calm exterior.

Her reasons were mysterious to me for the longest time. I always thought she was just a bastard who likes to lord her power over everyone. To an extent she does enjoy doing so, but theres more beyond that.

Shes angry, shes frustrated, and she vents it on her foes in turf. Kids included. Especially the kids. Shithead.

Shes known as the Wicked Witch of Turf, the Iron Maiden, And EEEVERYONE wants her down.

She only has one person shes close to. Odessa.

Shes here bc she wants to tag along someone whos actually making waves in turf instead of messing with low-ranks that very much dont impress her... (among...other reasons)

Odessa only cared for her bc she thought she was pretty, but it slowly evolves into something deeper over time.

And...it makes Cynthia melt, I guess.

Cynthia's...from somewhere far, far away. She doesnt like talking about where she came from. Shes reviled there. Despised.

Reviled so much she became what everyone feared...She doesnt look bothered but she is.

Oh yeah and she has parent issues of course.

...she had ONE good friend from that place. Part of her anger is bc of him. She failed to protect him, or something. Or maybe hates the fact that she can never see him again. Never go home. Hates that she cant protect him anymore..? I just know that shes filled with such tragedy that she snapped.

Shes....less harsh. But she doesnt hold back.

"If you cant handle me, you wont survive out there.

Odessa is shaking her head and rolling her eyes at her.

So Cynthia sighs.

"But youll win. Eventually. After much hard work. And youll lose less and less.

You have to be ready to lose before you start winning.

Be used to the sting of defeat before tasting victory. It makes it all the more sweet."

In a roundabout way, shes inspiring those kids -- to BEAT HER ASS!

Hah, shes become a figure one must defeat. A common enemy, just like the titular wicked witch.

When the kids eventually catch up to her, and defeat her, she nods her head in respect.

Odessa claps, "Youve defeated the wicked witch! Congratulations!"

"Go far, squirts."

If 3 inspires people to believe in themselves, Cynthia inspires kids to win through SPITE. They dont approve and dislike her bc of it. (One of the few people 3 holds an active dislike for...)

BTW. I NAMED HER CYNTHIA BC THE DPP OST WAS PLAYING IN THE BG WHILE I DESIGNED HER. Its a WILD coincidence that Elphaba is played by someone named Cynthia as well. Jesus christ

the white on imps sometimes being scars and sometimes not throws me off because i can never tell what's meant to be subtle indications of a characters history (especially fun for bg designs imo) and whats like. a spot

i honestly think the main 3 in helluva have pretty good design synergy with each other and it makes me hate loona's design because she throws off every group shot

niffty being designed so similarly to the morningstars (stark white skin with red cheek spots) bugs me more than it should

it wasn't so bad in his first appearance iirc but ever since then asmodeus consistently gets drawn with a really tiny head and i can't not notice it

i struggle to really articulate why and this is probably dumb and snobbish of me but the form everyone gets where they get bigger and scarier being called 'full demon' just feels oddly juvenile to me. what does that even mean. full demon. are they like, half demon at their basic self? make up a cool word instead. it sounds like something i'd have written into my cool death reaper umbreon oc at age 9. i hate it. i dont even know why. it just sounds so dumb to me. like peak 'a child wrote this lore'. watch out guys im going full human (permanently injuring a muscle in my body because i stretched slightly funny while over the age of 25)

this feels mean to say but cherri's voice actor doesn't do a very good australian accent at all and it's incredibly distracting if you're even remotely familiar with how it should sound. similarly maybe it's just auditory processing issues on my end but i can't even tell what accent valentino is meant to have

his design is otherwise fine comparatively but i hate the eyes on pentious' tail. breaking up his shape and like. you slither on those. floor in your eye. at least 10 floor hairs in your eyes. i dont care if theyre just markings i hate them

remember when viv said vaggie's name wasn't vagina and then canonised her name as vagina (the only lesbian main character across both shows btw) and also instead of changing her name for real after she restarted her life from scratch she just changed the pronunciation instead of just the whole fucking name, so like clearly it bothered her just not enough to change it fully like she for some reason wanted to keep in part the name 'vagina' given to her by a misogynist man she hates-

Please say more about the awful Asian designs in Danny Phantom. I'm not Asian but I'd love to have a rundown on the elements that make them offensive so I can avoid and critique those elements in other works. And also you deserve to speak your mind about it

im gonna mostly talk about southeast asian designs since thats what i am and the most familiar with and also what i feel are the show's worst transgression with their casual depictions. tw for racist imagery im gonna link pictures.

there's not much to say about the designs aside from, you know, everything but things to note are the unnatural yellow tone for the skin and closed slanted eyes. veggie burger (fan name for the bg character in the middle) also suffers from the huge nose that sometimes shows up in racist depictions. the straight edge/cut hair as well is somewhat stereotypical. this one isn't as bad but in conjunction with everything else its not ideal. i will give the smallest molecule of credit that at the very least dp never gave any of these bg characters buck teeth.

some depictions are better than others, but theres still missteps happening in one aspect or another. kwan's eyes in a lot of shots/episodes can be too skinny and even too slanted, the girl in the middle is almost perfect but her skin is too yellow (she looks kinda okay on my computer screen but i remember when watching dp on my tv she looked real brightly yellow), and principle ishiyama (who was weirdly forgotten about pretty early on in the show and was replaced by lancer doing most of the school stuff despite not being principle?? which is a whole other issue with how dp treats its poc characters) the same usual notes about the slanted eyes but also the upturned nose is pretty reminiscent of racist japanese art during ww2. again it is not the worst way to draw a nose but combined with everything else in this show's depiction of asian characters its not great, they are on thin ice man.

not to mention, principle ishiyama is the only character here with brown eyes. this is a problem that extends to all poc characters in dp and to my knowledge i think ishiyama might be the only one with them tbh. this is, again, a whole other issue though.

i think the thing that bothers me most about these designs though is that dp is very clearly aware that these depictions are bad. the only difference between the first set of characters and the second is one singular thing: they have a clear speaking role.

suddenly when theyre not stock background characters, dp knows how to act when drawing them. i cannot for the life of me find the image of it, but the last jock guy in the first set gets a speaking role in reign storm (he's cosplaying phantom) and he is drawn with proper open eyes! (theyre also blue but whatever) it just makes me sad that this was a clear choice they made.

the show also went in a different direction in the final product, but early development stuff was really drawing from a lot of japanese/asian influences like danny was originally gonna have a motorcycle (pulling from ghost in the shell) and was even referenced in the show via the akira motorcycle reference (which i once again, for the life of me, cannot find. danny took johnny 13's motorcycle and did the classic akira slide i think it was in million dollar ghost?? idk whichever one where the giw are trying to blow up the ghost zone). danny's name was originally gonna be jackie, named after jackie chan, this i assume was given to jack fenton afterwards. and i think the show having a more martial arts direction with the action was also gonna be a thing? that one could be wrong dont quote me on that, there was an episode where danny and vlad have like a weird ninja fight though im pretty sure.

either way my point here is that they wanted to pull from all these influences and it was prominent enough during development that they sprinkle references to it throughout the show and yet their portrayal and treatment of asian characters in the show is so abysmal it just feels Bad™, you know? i cant really put it more eloquently than that, like its very take and no give with it.

it overall just puts a bad taste in my mouth, and its sad that it still affects people years later. like i mentioned in the tags of the post that started this discussion with that whole old trend of putting yourself into the bg of dp screenshots, i felt alienated by that. and its not the people who participated's fault obviously but most of the people i saw participating were white fans (going off of how they drew themselves) and it made me a bit mad that they were able to enjoy the style of the show in a more carefree manner than i ever could. i didnt want to ruin anyone's fun obviously, but a small part of me wanted to bring to light how i wasnt on equal ground with them in that situation.

Ivy: (smirking) Come on, Mom, give him some credit. Cherry wouldn’t stay with him if he hadn’t changed. Bowser’s not as scary as he looks; he’s just a big softie under all that armor.

Emmanuelle: (allowing herself a faint smile at Ivy's comment before focusing back on Bowser) Perhaps. Cherry has always had an extraordinary ability to reach out to those in need of redemption. (turning to Cherry) I respect her heart, but it’s my duty to ensure her happiness and safety come first. (her gaze shifting back to Bowser, her voice hardening) Bowser, if you ever harm her, even in the smallest way… you’ll answer to me.

Well. For starters last I checked we don’t know FOR SURE where they are going but yes. Clearly they are painting this story that they are going to the USA for that big family trip they’ve talked about.

As for how I don’t feel anxious? Simple. They’re telling us it’s happening. And in this fandom if we’re being told something private life about Harry or Louis is happening it means…. It’s not their private life. It’s FOR US.

Like. Louis has shown a lot of the last couple of years he can go and do stuff and not advertise it and no one knows he’s there. Just think back to all of the adventures we saw his band/crew go on with him over tour. We didn’t know those things were happening when they did. We found out eventually but no one was posting “hey what’s a good thing to do in Iceland?” Or “where can we go ride ATVs?”
