I’m having Omegaverse One Piece thoughts again
Luffy in a rut has the most insane patrolling instinct he needs to search Every Inch Of This Ship Now Right Now and he’s sprinting around the Sunny one day and practically fucking Teleports into Usopp’s workshop and Tackles him chuffing and nuzzling and grooming him because! Friend!! PackCrewLove!!! And Usopp is like How and Where Did You Come From and I Didn’t Even Hear You Come In Seriously How
But then Usopp is laughing too hard to keep complaining because Luffy is nuzzling him so aggressively they have fully tipped over onto the floor. Through his giggles Usopp (beta) tries to scold Luffy that he’s gonna put Usopp in a rut! Knock it off!! But he’s already nuzzling back so Does He Really Care? Checkmate.
They end up doing that aggressive-scenting-nuzzling-grooming I-can-be-more-affectionate-than-you-can-jackass kind of play fighting and roll across the floor laughing and making happy noises and smooshing their faces against each other and then yes, Usopp Does enter a pseudo-Rut and end up joining Luffy in his deranged insane hyperactive patrolling
Smash cut to Nami standing at the helm staring into the middle distance with the most exhausted look on her face as these two idiots with the zoomies sprint back and forth past her at Mach Fuck

Hi.Is it possible to have Usopp (top) x male reader (bottom).Smut. They have been a couple for a long time. The half-human, half-tiger reader (he has the body of a human but a tail, ears, eyes and stripes of a tiger) and he controls electricity. For the scenario, arriving on an island with the crew, Usopp and the reader decide to go relax and spend a romantic moment in hot springs because it is difficult to spend a romantic moment on the boat (sorry for the spelling mistakes English is not my mother tongue)
All I Need
Usopp x Male!reader, smut, top Usopp, bottom reader, tiger mink reader, I don’t know how hot springs work, not beta read, almost 2k words
Tumblr media
“Y/N! Please save me!” Usopp crys, crocodile tears running down his face as he hides behind your back.
“What?!” You yell back in disbelief, looking ahead, your eyes widening as you see a horde of navy folk come towards you.
Reaching for your hand, carefully you pull a yellow bolt from your hand, large and sparkling with energy. “Christ, I can’t leave alone for even a minute, huh, Usopp?”
“What the hell is that?!” Screams a navy soldier, pointing towards the bright thunderbolt held by your bare hands.
You clench the bolt tighter before launching it at the hoard of Navy, striped tail swishing in irritation behind you. “Fuck off!”
Electricity fizzled from one soldier to another, all of them too close to escape the yellow crackle, whipping at their spine and freezing them in their tracks. Not enough to permanently injure them, but you were sure they weren’t getting up anytime soon.
Grabbing Usopp’s hand you start making a run for it, whiskers on your face blowing in the wind. “Let’s get out of here! The Sunny shouldn’t be too far!”
Usopp practically clings on to you, thanking you continuously as you both run for the ship together.
You were so ready to just get off of this crazy island, all you hoped was that the next would be better, hopefully you could finally relax.
And oh how you were glad when that was the case, rushing over to hot springs as soon as the locals told you where they were.
You were not very keen on getting your fur wet a lot of the time, due to you being a tiger mink, but there were just some things in life that even your animal instinct couldn’t control.
Undressing yourself before getting in the water, you sigh softly as the heat of it relaxes your body, every tense muscle that you hadn’t noticed before now unclenching.
It wasn’t long before you lost track of time, just resting up before your ball of energy of a captain was wrapping you up in his schemes again.
It’s quite ironic though you think to yourself, the literal person who has the devil fruit ability to create charged energy couldn’t even keep up with him, where he pulled all of it from you had no clue.
Quickly you were brought out of your thoughts, the dip of water next to you alerting you of someone else in the hot springs.
Your eyes were narrowed when they opened, only relaxing when you saw that the one next to you was Usopp, the only person who could have made the hot springs feel even better in your opinion.
A smile grows on your face, sharp teeth revealing itself to the other man.
He raises an eyebrow at you, relaxing as well in the water. “You know, you’re kinda scary when you smile that wide.”
Immediately your smile drops, an unamused look on your face at Usopp’s words, slapping your hand in the water to splash him.
“Hey!” He yelps, covering his face with his hands before slapping them on the water too, effectively splashing you as well.
Laughing you make your way over to Usopp, planting a kiss on his cheek. “You know, I would have thought you’d be happier to see me,” You say, lightly teasing him.
“I am happy to see you!” He argued back, giving you a pointed look, “Don’t just assume things like that.” He huffs, dipping down in the water, letting himself sink so that only his mouth and lower was submerged.
A smile forms itself on your lips, watching how Usopp pouts underwater like a child.
Eventually his eyes go from the water back to you, his features softening, heart softly hammering in his chest.
Sometimes he can’t help but wonder how he managed to woo someone like you, you’re so amazing and he was just him, it was confusing when he learned that you actually liked him back, but he definitely wasn’t complaining.
“Is there something on my face?” You question, tilting your head in question at him.
Rising from the water he looks at you questioningly, clearly clueless. “No?”
You smirk at his response, “Well there must be, you’ve been staring at me for like a minute.”
He tenses up at this, blush making its way on his almond skin, cheeks darkening nicely.
“Yeah, but that’s because you’re so… you.” He sputters out, looking away from you not sure if his words even made sense, not knowing how to get his thoughts out too well.
You let out a laugh at this, not really surprised by his response, Usopp was always one to get easily nervous. “Thank you?”
At your laughter his gaze flickers back to you, a small chuckle falling from him as well, your laugh contagious to him.
Once your laughter died down you scooted closer to him, resting your head on his shoulder. Allowing the both of you to relax into the water again, a comfortable silence filling the air.
Though that didn’t last for long, you were getting antsy for Usopp’s entirety, not having been able to express your desires to him merely as much as you would have wanted too.
Island after island, issue after issue, being on a ship and not even being able to have a little alone time with your boyfriend was driving you crazy.
Your hand carefully grasps Usopp’s inner thigh, making him jolt from the sudden touch, his cheeks burning as he looks at you incredulously.
“Really? Here? What if someone comes?” He quickly questions, an obvious nervousness to him.
Burying your face in the crook of his neck you let out a small whine, leaving soft kisses on his wet skin. “Please? We haven’t been able to in a while.”
He lets out a sigh, just deciding to go along with it, after all it had been far too long, and he wasn’t risking potentially getting caught by the crew by waiting to be back on the Sunny.
With a soft voice he finally speaks up, still embarrassed about talking about such subjects even though you’ve done it countless times. “Oh, fine.”
At this you perk up, happy that Usopp was caving in to you. Leaning up you catch his lips in a kiss, closing your eyes as you tilt your head to accommodate for his long nose.
Usopp practically melts into the kiss, a content sigh leaving his nose, deepening the kiss after a few seconds.
Hands grasp at your waist, rubbing into it. Letting go of Usopp's thigh you bring your hands out of the water, wrapping them around his neck to bring him closer.
When you ran out of air you pulled away, softly huffing to regain control of your breath, eventually leaning back in for another one.
It was loving and passionate, a mix of longing in it from being deprived of this sensation for so long, both of you so desperate for one another.
Pulling away again you huff a laugh as you feel Usopp shyly grab your legs, wrapping them around his hips.
Carefully he pushes you up against the outskirts of the hot spring, not wanting to hurt you.
You watch as Usopp works gently on you, his half hooded eyes always flickering towards your face to make sure you weren’t uncomfortable, one of his hands came to rest on your hip, the other going down to your ass.
Your striped tail swishes in interest, rubbing against Usopp’s arm before allowing him to be, trusting him completely with your body.
You let out a hiss as Usopp inserts a finger in you, the sudden intrusion making you tense before you relax yourself once more.
Pumping his finger in and out of you as he listens to your soft moans, eventually adding a second finger when he thinks you are ready.
He kept a nice pace, your gasps and moans growing steadily as he thrust his fingers up into you, prodding so nicely into your sweet spot.
It isn’t long before he pulls them out, his hand settling itself back on your hip, lining himself up with your hole.
Slowly, he pushes into you making sure to watch your face to see if you were showing any signs of discomfort, more attuned to your pleasure than his own.
When he finally bottoms out he waits for you to give him the go ahead to start moving, one of his hands smooth against your spine, the other rubbing the side of your hip.
Only when you start to squirm in his lap does he start to move, even thrusts at an almost lazy pace, not wanting his time to end quickly with you.
His face moves to hide at the crook of your neck, spreading small kisses on it, every thrust making a soft huff leave him, his breath fanning at your tingling skin.
Your tail swishes under the water in pleasure, rising from the water and curling affectionately on Usopp’s hand, making the man’s motions stop, now instead rubbing softly at your wet fur.
The softness of it all makes a soft purr start in your chest, a sound that Usopp loved, it let him know that he was doing well without even having to look at you or hear it verbally. And even when you can’t see Usopp’s face you already have a pretty good guess that he has a happy little grin on his face, always so pleased with himself when he can make you feel good.
Every thrust of his dick so deep in you had your stomach pooling with heat, Christ, sometimes you forget just how good at these things he was simply because he was always so shy about them.
You weren’t exactly complaining though, that just meant whenever you two did have intimate moments like these it's always like seeing heaven again.
Sweat beaded and water at Usopp’s skin, both the water of the hot springs and the burning of his own needy body making sweat roll down his skin. Not that it really bothered him, it only added something else to shiver at including the soft breeze coming two and fro.
As Usopp shifts his dick hits practically perfect in you, kissing your sweet spot in a way that has your toes immediately curling, a loud moan escaping you.
One of your hands lifts from his neck and covers your mouth, still wary of being quiet. Usopp is a little sad when he can no longer hear your moans unmuffled, though he would rather have that then someone worrying about the sounds you’re making and catching you guys in act.
Another particular thrust has the coil in your stomach tightening, the need of release pointing itself out to you almost immediately.
Moving your hand from your mouth you go to warn Usopp, fumbling as broken words and moans fall from your lips before you actually get the sentence out, a slight stutter as you talk. “Dear, i-i’m close.”
Usopp merely nods against your neck, his pace quickening, your body shaking as he quickened his thrusts, moans rapidly leaving your lips as you own dick twitches in pleasure.
It doesn’t take long before you’re fully cumming, white ropes getting caught by the water, your legs tightening against Usopp’s waist.
He follows suit after a couple more shallow thrusts, spilling his seed in you due to you legs not letting up, a soft moan of your name coming from him as he comes down from his high.
Both of you stay there for a moment basking in each other’s presences as you try and catch your breaths, eventually Usopp comes up from hiding in the crook of your neck, a crimson blush and pout on his face.
“Now my hands are all pruny.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at that, loud and boisterous, after all that of course that was his first thought.
God, you loved this man.
I am so sorry this took forever, this entire fic was actually such a struggle because I kept over thinking it.
I still hope you enjoyed this mess of a fic though, Pea’s out!

You Called?
Summary: You're sunbathing on the deck as you notice your boyfriend, the sniper of the strawhat pirates, having fun with your crewmates. An idea forms in your mind. He's more than happy to indulge you.
Warnings: Y/N being a tease, also Y/N lowkey domming Usopp, AFAB Y/N, riding, creampie, implied cum-eating at the end lol
Tumblr media
Usopp's hands shakily hold onto your waist as you bounce on his cock. His eyes are squeezed shut, and sweat beads from his forehead from where he's trying not to cum. The two of you had just started!
Earlier, you had watched him mess around with your captain while you were sunbathing on the deck. You laid on your stomach as you watched the boys pelt each other with water balloons, biting your lip at the sight of your boyfriend's abs dripping with water. A spark lit deep in your stomach. You smirked.
"Hey Usopp, could you c'mere a sec!" You whistled him over. He paused and turn to you and Luffy and Chopper took the opportunity to pelt him with as much water as they could. He shouted at theem before grumpily stalking over to you, sopping wet. You giggled.
"Hey, Y/N! You called?" The sniper smiled at you. You sat up a little, untying the top of your bikini. You giggled at his reaction, the way his eyes widened and the way his adam's apple bobbed as he gulped. "W-what are you-"
"I need your help reapplying this sun tan lotion, my love." You purred as you laid yourself back down. Resting your head on your crossed arms, you looked back at him coyly and nodded to the bottle of lotion beside you.
"O-of course! Lemme J-just..." Usopp stammered as he fumbled with the slippery bottle before getting it open and applying some lotion to his hands. He rubbed his hands together before pressing both palms to your back, gasping at how soft you felt.
Usopp's hands glided over your back ass he applied the lotion. He's given you a few massages before, and you really did love the way his skilled hands would work out the tension in your back. The boy fell into a routine of sorts as he kneaded at your shoulders before rubbing his hands back downward. It was sweet, but...
Gentle sighs escaped your mouth as his hands worked lower. When Usopp's hands pressed on a specific spot near your tailbone you let out a moan. You smirked as you felt him freeze, hands twitching from where they were on your back. He lets out a shaky breath but when his hands continue their movements the return is stilted, too forced like he was dragging himself back to attention.
"Hmmh~... Usopp..." You breathily sigh his name. Your boyfriend grips you from your sides. He pulls away and you startle a bit, kind of worried. What if you'd pushed him too far and made him uncomfortable? You sit up a little, turning around "Hey Usopp, are you ok-" Usopp is staring down at you, and one look at his crotch told you what he was thinking about.
"Y/N, Can we..." He trailed off. A playful smile worked its way onto your face.
"Can we what, my love?" You sat up, tying your bikini quickly (so you were covered) and taking his hands into yours. He was forced to look into your eyes. He gulped as you spoke again, "Tell me what you want."
"C-can we... go to y-your room?" His hands trembled in yours, he was being such a good boy. You smiled and hummed as you nodded, placing a chaste kiss to his lips. With a giggle, you drag him to his feet and the two of you run to your room.
Nami, who was sitting nearby, watched this whole thing go down. She rolled her eyes with a fond smile before laying back on the deck.
───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────
When you reached your room, you pushed him against the door as soon as it closed. Usopp grunted into your mouth, hands gripping your waist. It helped that you were in a bikini and he was shirtless. The feeling of his skin against yours made you whine into his mouth, and you pulled him backwards towards the bed.
Usopp let you take the lead, letting out a chuckle when you pushed him onto the bed. He sat up a bit on his elbows and you looked down down at him hungrily, hand on your hip. He laughed nervously.
"Strip." You ordered and he obeyed, rapidly hard cock springing forward. You untied your bikini, letting your tits bounce as you pulled it off of you. Turning around, you put your ass on display as you pull the rest of your swimwear off. You giggle at the way his cock twitches as you climb on top of him
"You ready hon?" You purr as you swipe some fingers through your soaked pussy with a pleased sigh. He nods and you tsk. "Use your words, Usopp."
"Y-yes, Y/N." The sniper shakily whispers. He's so hard it hurts. He loves the feeling of you taking control over him, of you using him like a toy. You're so sexy and soft in his lap.
A shudder travels up his spine as you line yourself up and sink down onto his thick cock. With a hum, you swivel your hips. Usopp sucks in a breath and his hands fly up to grip your waist. You lift yourself up and start to bounce and sway on his cock.
It takes everything in Usopp's power to not cum. To lose himself in the feeling of your velvety walls squeezing his cock like it's trying to milk it for all it's worth. His head tilts back and he moans, fuck you feel so good.
"Y'like me bouncing on your cock baby?" You coo as you bring one of his hands to hold onto one of your bouncing tits. Usopp sucks in a breath, hand squeezing your breast. "Tell me, Usopp."
"F-fuuck, you f- nghh haa- feel so.. gooddngh," Usopp whines and squirms underneath you. He starts to fuck into you, gripping your hips and meeting your thrusts downwards. "'M cl-ah! Close."
Upon hearing this, you clamp down on him, swiveling your hips and reveling in the moan bubbling out of your boyfriend. You whined, cradling Usopp's face in your hands, "C'mon baby... Give it t'me..."
His pace stutters before he stills inside of you, bitten out gasps and whines escaping his mouth. The base of your spine tingles as you feel his cock lurching and pumping inside of you, causing you to moan. Thick, warm cum dripped out of you after Usopp pulls out of ou, slumping against the mattress. The boy gasps for breath as you lay on top of him, giggling. You trace shapes onto his chest as you wait for him to find his voice.
"S...Sorry I came so fast..." The sniper pants after a moment. "You felt really... really good."
You giggle, placing a gentle kiss to his cheek. "It's okay Usopp." You reposition yourself so you're now sitting on his stomach. "You are gonna have to put that mouth to good use, though."
Usopp laughs before gripping your thighs, dragging you forward. You're hovering over him as he licks his lips, eyeing your pussy still dripping with his seed.
"Glad you didn't think I was done with you yet, Y/N. I'm just getting started."

Usopp asks sanji to write out the recipe of a favorite dish of his and let him borrow the kitchen to make it but sanji keeps Observing and Hovering
set vaguely after arlong park I guess??
Despite what anyone on the crew might think, Sanji isn’t actually against having other people in the kitchen. Working in a restaurant means working with a bunch of assholes who know how to sauté shit without setting themselves on fire. But while the bastards on the Baratie could barely be considered chefs, they were still—technically speaking—chefs.
He doesn’t miss the cacophony of steel and iron, of stupid banter, of order after order after order. He doesn’t miss elbowing past Patty on the way to the fridge, or heckling some dipshit’s new recipe until it’s actually worth serving, or cleaning with the geezer at the end of the day.
What he does miss is working with someone who knows how to hold a knife.
“That’s not how you fillet a fish,” Sanji says. Once he’s sure Usopp’s not in danger of accidentally cutting himself, Sanji reaches over to reposition Usopp’s hand, finger off the spine of the blade.
Usopp makes a face, probably torn between deferring to Sanji or spinning some story to brush him off. They’re still feeling each other out—it’s been a weird leap from ‘reluctant waiter and picky customer’ to ‘crewmates bound by the whims of their idiot captain.’ In the end, Usopp nods, carefully cutting into the pike while holding the knife in his new and improved posture (smart choice, less chance of losing his grip and a finger).
“You’re not cutting close enough to the—“
“Do you not want me here?” Usopp blurts out. “In the kitchen, I mean,” he clarifies, and for a second it looks like he’s going to continue, but he. Doesn’t. No backpedaling, no deflection, no convoluted over-explanation, which—isn’t Usopp supposed to lie? That’s his whole thing. Sanji knows that much, at least (but not much else).
“I’m trying to be nice,” Sanji says, eventually. To his own surprise, he means it. “If I didn’t want you here, I would’ve kicked you out.”
“…Oh.”
Usopp continues filleting the pike, and Sanji doesn’t point out the bones that are stuck in the pieces.
Alright, so, the thing is. Spending nine whole years surrounded by thugs will apparently have an impact on someone’s social skills. Which doesn’t matter with Luffy—he doesn’t really care about what Sanji says (unless it’s about food). It doesn’t matter with Zoro—Sanji doesn’t give a shit about that mosshead. And with Nami-chan, Sanji doesn’t have to think—a single glimpse of her radiant beauty is so soul-stirring that Sanji’s simply helpless against the flood of praise that springs forth ❤️
So how the hell is he supposed to talk to someone like Usopp?
Thankfully, it’s not a question Sanji has to consider for too long—Usopp clears his throat, taking the lead.
“I actually did this a lot before joining the crew,” he says, which—knife technique aside—sounds plausible.
“Yeah?”
“I must’ve grilled a thousand—no, ten thousand fish,” he continues, which sounds like bullshit. “By the time I was eight, the whole island was lining up for a taste of the great Captain Usopp’s legendary fire-grilled fish! Using spices foraged from the forest and fish caught by spear, not even the most refined palate could resist the food I poured my heart and soul into! But you see—” and here, he smiles, bright but somehow bittersweet, “I’d only cook it for my loyal crew and the princess we’d all sworn to protect.
“Now, as astounding as my own recipe was, I’m man enough to admit when I’m beat. And yours beats mine, no contest. So someday, I’d… like to cook it. For my old crew.”
It’s impressive, the way Usopp manages to be blindingly honest while lying his ass off. Sanji’s not quite sure what to make of it. If anyone else was feeding him this crap, he would’ve told them to eat shit, but…
“Hey,” Sanji says. “Tell me about your old crew.”
And, with a wide grin, Usopp does.
(The fish comes out fine. A little over-seasoned, but edible. They’ll work on it.)

I can't decide what to do about a/b/o luzosan. When they get the Marry.
Sanji & zoro have a house boat that was a wedding gift from everyone. Zeff, the rest of the chefs, Johnny, Yosaku, and Koushirou. What do I do with the boat and where r they sleeping. The three of them r together so shuldnt they have thire own room? But then, usopp will be alone, and wouldn't he feel isolated? Or should I just rework the Marry so they eatch have thire rooms? Shuld they leave thire wedding gift behind?

what if the strawhats had different roles on the ship⁉️ i swapped everyone’s roles except for luffy because i can’t imagine him being anything but the captain
these are loose redesigns since their canon designs don’t really read as their roles all that much to begin with. some extra doodles and ideas for this in the cut !!
nami, vice captain: i took a lot of inspiration from her beta design!! canon nami already bosses everyone around so she fits right into the role. she wields an extendable staff (usopp still makes it for her); she lost her arm over the time-skip like how zoro lost his eye. i LOVE drawing cargo pants and boots, so she ended up with a sorta bottom-heavy design. frankly it’s probably not her style but i like how she looks
Tumblr media
zoro, the cook: my foolproof logic is zoro uses swords = good with knives. he does not use katanas to cut produce however, just normal knives. i was trying to go for “sweaty ramen guy” with the towel around his neck. the majority of the shit he cooks would probably be drowned in alcohol. he also wears his bandana the majority of the time now!! it completes the ramen guy look
sanji, the sniper: i also took inspiration from his beta design for this!!! he has guns!! and perfect aim of course. i was going for more of a mafioso look so germa 66 would be like, a mafia organization on top of all the other villain shit they already do. he has two guns but i didn’t draw a holster bc that’s annoying🤞 he lights his cigarettes with his guns. how would that even work? don’t ask me
Tumblr media
usopp, the navigator: his artistic talent lends itself to creating perfect maps! he also still tinkers, making nami’s staff as well as having a specialty for compasses. he uses a slingshot still (no perfect aim we gotta nerf him) and shoots weather-related projectiles. his goggles serve as binoculars, they can zoom to several different distances. i drew him in his zou outfit purely bc it’s my favorite one
chopper, the helmsman: he would predominately use heavy point while maneuvering the wheel. i changed his hat up to look more like a sailor’s cap, with an anchor symbol instead of an X. to be honest i don’t have much else bc helmsman doesn’t bring much to my mind :(
franky, the musician: ROCK N ROLL BABY YEEAHHH come on his stage presence is unmatched. he’s still a cyborg, he has instruments all over his body like apoo does but they were installed manually. his personality changes depending on what genre he’s playing but rock n roll is his default B) (ex. classical calls for a refined gentleman)
robin, the shipwright: her devil fruit gives her as many helpful hands as she needs! she developed nami’s arm (definitely installed some random shit she did Not ask for). she has a robot mecha that she’s able to pilot all by herself using clones. i changed her orange sunglasses to goggle eyewear
brook, the doctor: the irony of being nursed back to health by a literal skeleton 💀the irony of being the doctor of the rumbar pirates yet being the only survivor, saving no one from the poison 💀 i went for a plague doctor look! IM VERY HAPPY WITH HOW HE TURNED OUT i was really tempted to give him the plague mask too, but i feel that would’ve changed his appearance too much compared to the others
jinbei, the archaeologist: the shape of this man demands a little pair of round glasses on his face. he’s an intellectual i tell you!!! plus still a fishman karate master. the history of joyboy and fishman island being so intertwined is how he developed an interest in history

Bachata (Dance Series)
Masterlist here.
Word Count: 3,105
Warnings: Fluff. Pure fluff, dancing, sensual dance descriptors, mention of alcohol (if you squint).
It was beta-read by the ever wonderful @sordidmusings (thank you bby grl, you are a blessing)
Song Suggestion: Stand By Me, Wake Me Up, la Isla Bonita
Tumblr media
Your lips remained parted, eyes glossy and hyper-fixated on the movement of swaying hips, bent knees, and the biceps and forearms of your captain who effortlessly led one of the locals in a sultry dance. All his movements were in time to the beat of the drum, the fingerpicking of nylon guitar strings and the push and pull of airy piano accordion accompanying the lilt of vocals.
The atmosphere surrounding the beach-front festival on the coastal shore was loud, the crash of waves in the distance resonated within the chasms of the wooden dock where the Going Merry was harbored. Several vendors had set up temporary huts with canvas roofs atop wooden poles, selling their wares, local cuisine and fountains of exotic drinks of flavors you had never heard of before.
Although the musicians sang out their romantic souls into the air, prompting many a traveler to engage with them in dance and singing along to the tune: your eyes remained fixed on the way Luffy effortlessly spun the local girl within his arms, steadying her hips with his hands. His nose was scrunched with laughter, his grin drawn wide against his cheeks to bare his teeth in unbridled joy.
“Quartermaster?” the green-haired swordsman addressed you, “your thoughts?”
“Hmm?” you hummed in question, snapped from your entranced gaze held against your captain’s swaying body.
“You’ve been staring at him long enough,” Nami giggled at you, leaning back to recline against the wooden log behind her, “surely you have a bit of a hypothesis.”
You furrowed your brow, looking between the remaining companions you’d found yourself serving with on the Going Merry. Nami had a playful shimmer falling in her eyes, Zoro quenched his thirst by draining the remainder of his brown-stained beer bottle, while Sanji was making his way back from collecting the evening meal for the crew by bartering with the vendors.
Usopp and Luffy opted to join in the festival celebrations by swaying with the locals to the beat of the drum. Both men began surprising the crew with how effortlessly they danced to the tunes produced by the band, but Luffy was exceptionally surprising everyone by the way he almost had an air of sultry seduction in his movements. As soon as you witnessed the first effortless and tasteful gyration of his hips, your breath caught in your throat and a warm flush weaseled its way from your chest to tint your cheeks with its presence.
“On the dancing?” you asked again, Zoro chuckling at your thoughts.
“Alright, let’s backtrack then,” the swordsman rolled his eyes with a chuckled scoff, “look at him.”
“Oh she’s been looking at him enough, Zoro,” Nami scrunched up her nose, her tone light and teasing. You scrunched up your own nose in light mockery at her jest, prompting her to release a laugh into the night air.
“Looking at who?” the blonde chef asked as he placed the food down on the stretched canvas mat on the sandy floor in front of you all.
“Alright Sanji, non-biased opinion,” Nami said, leaning forward to sit herself closer to the food in front of her, “our captain. Where do you think he learnt how to dance like that? Look – no, really Sanji – look.”
The chef rolled his eyes and lulled his head over to look at the captain of the Going Merry. Luffy spun his dance partner to face her torso away from him, her back pressed flush against his bare chest as he ghosted his fingertips over her vertical forearms held upwards. His lips traced the back of her neck, his eyes fluttered closed as he swayed his hips against the beat, with his brows furrowed in passionate concentration.
“O-oh,” Sanji stuttered, his eyes widening with a downturned smile rising within his fluster.
“I know, right?” Nami loudly whispered in her hushed enthusiasm.
“I can honestly say: I have no idea,” the blonde nodded his head in confirming his words more-so to himself than to the group, “he doesn’t give off that kind of energy at all.”
The music concluded, the captain breaking away from his dance partner, and giving her a clap on the shoulder as a gesture of encouragement and joy at the time they spent together.
“Oi, Luffy, Usopp!” Zoro called to the two crewmen, “grub’s up, come and get it!”
Your captain’s face snapped over towards the crew; his eyes first meeting with yours. A large grin drew itself against his cheeks once more as he found Usopp and they stampeded together towards the canvas mat.
“You guys, the sand- the sand,” Nami aggressively shooed the two rapidly approaching men, their feet kicking up the coarse grains of sand dangerously close to the food placed on the floor. You giggled at them, looking to your captain and patting the unoccupied space beside you in a gesture for him to sit down.
Usopp claimed the vacant space next to Nami, taking a portion of the local cuisine for himself as he did so. Luffy, smiling at your gesture, immediately plopped himself down ungracefully. He playfully nudged your shoulder with the top of his head, giving you a small smile, his curls feeling soft against your exposed skin as his hat remained fastened to his back via the drawstring. You laughed, reaching your palm and fingertips to brush some of the strands away from his forehead to reveal his hazelnut-coloured eyes to you. You shook your head, scrunching your nose and playfully nudged him away from you.
Your role aboard the Going Merry was the Quartermaster: an aid in the navigation and smooth sailing amongst the waves, while being the secondary loyal soldier behind the first-mate. Luffy, upon finding you in a tavern off the shore of Shells-Town, immediately was taken with your skills and ease in breaking up a tavern brawl. Two rival pirate crews had stumbled into the family-run tavern and began immediately meddling in the affairs of one another’s business. The boiling point flashing like water to scorching oil within the halls of your favorite tavern: foreheads touching, guns withdrawn, fists flying and the breaking of brown, glass bottles. You threw yourself into the crowd, opting to disarm and do no harm, dancing effortlessly within the heat of the battle and incapacitating those who opted to remain fighting. It took little to no time to stop the fight, your skills drilled into you at the hands of many a brawling instructor and mentor throughout your childhood.
After the fight had finished, a brown-haired captain adorning a straw hat with a red ribbon approached you, telling you straight out, “Pack your bags, I need you on my ship,” to which you shrugged with a simple “aye, Sir”.
In your travels with the young captain, you were immediately taken with his innocence and fearlessness to be anything other than what he is: a simple man with the charm and charisma he needs to lead a crew, but also with the mischievousness and playfulness that comes with his inexperience. His heart is intensely displayed on his wrists, his desire to serve and protect those in need was admirable. You would follow him to the ends of the earth, with nothing to add than a simple: “aye, Sir.”
Friendship, proximity, and sleepless nights by each other’s side had a small whisper of emotion beginning to form within the very central point of your heart. The longer you remained with him, the more this feeling began to burn within you. You put it all down to the need to serve your captain well or perhaps a small crush if anything else. Choosing not to engage with such childish emotions, you smothered the feelings as soon as they began.
But there was something about the way his hips were swaying tonight. Something about the way his eyes sparkled, his nose scrunched and his lips drew out to reveal his playful grin under the glittering stars around the festivities that held you hostage to your unquenchable emotions.
“Nice meat!” Luffy’s voice cut through your inner monologue, prompting you to shake your head and blink slowly away your enchantment, “you had any yet-? -You haven’t had any yet! Here, have some!”
Your captain thrust an empty paper plate into your hands before piling a mountain of food atop the plate; it bending beneath the weight of the variety of items.
“Captain, slow down!” you giggled, shooing his hand holding tongs with the dangle of cooked meat waving from the end, “I’m not going to be able to get through all this, but thank you for thinking of me.”
“Anything for my Quartermaster,” he shot you a small wink, “gotta make sure you’re taken care of, you know?”
Your eyes fluttered rapidly in a flustered blink. You shook your head once more and furrowed your brows at his comments. He looked down at your plate, gesturing with his hands for you to begin eating.
“Whatever you don’t eat, I will,” he shrugged, leaning back in his place beside you and looking up at you with eyes full of adoration and appreciation.
“Thanks Luffy, I trust that you will,” you giggled, placing the plate down on the ground and tucking your hair behind your ears and away from your mouth. He smiled up with his broadening grin as the rest of the crew continued to eat the delicacies this area graced you with.
You felt his gaze continue to hold to you as you continued to dine with the other straw-hats, then pouring drinks from the large jug for one another and laughing to a tale Usopp was recollecting. He sat up briefly, noticing some strands of your hair began to fall back in front of your face and immediately reached up to tuck the locks behind your ear with his thumb and index finger. A warmth drew itself upwards to your cheeks at this unrestrained gesture, but you did not shy away from his affection.
Sitting in silence, Zoro continued to hold his intense gaze in unwavering focus against your interaction and dynamic with the captain. His left brow arched at the subtle touches, lingering on your flushed face before looking to the mischievous expression your captain currently was adorning.
“Hey Cap’n,” Zoro smirked up, collecting a beer bottle from beside him, “why don’t you and the Quartermaster have a little dance after dinner? She hasn’t had one all night.”
Your eyes widened at Zoro, a scowl falling to your lips in wordless reprimand. Zoro’s smirk broadened with his left brow arching upwards to taunt you further. Before you managed to get a word out to chastise him further, Luffy spoke up to interrupt your thoughts.
“Sounds good to me!” he exclaimed with joy, “how about it, Quartermaster? Dance with your captain?”
Words fell halted in your throat, the breath you were going to use to speak them caught behind your parted lips. You snapped your gaze back to your captain, snickers from your crew began to whisper in hisses behind their clenched teeth.
“I-I don’t think I could-,” you began, watching your captain as he eagerly rose to his feet and extended his hand out towards you.
“-You’ll be fine,” he smiled, collecting your hand from beside you, “let’s go, music’s starting again.”
“Aye, Sir,” you nodded, allowing him to pull you to rise to your own feet.
You turned your head back to your crew as Luffy began leading you towards the open fire, closer to the vicinity of the music. Zoro’s smirk-like grin was plastered openly on his lips, shooting a small wink towards you at your unsettlement. Nami gave you a small wave, wordlessly uttering to you: “learn why he dances like that.”
You inhaled sharply through your nose with eyes scolding your crew before being twirled within the arms of your captain to meet his hazelnut orbs.
“Just relax, okay?” he scrunched his nose up while pressing his forehead against yours, eyes twinkling with mischief, “I know what I’m doing, let me lead you.”
A small squeak found its way to your throat, eyes wide and cheeks flushed. He chuckled, taking both of your hands within his and began to effortlessly sway with you.
Crossing your arms upwards, he spun you to face away from him; rocking you within his arms briefly before experimentally intertwining his limbs with your own. He twirled you once again to face him, collecting your right hand within his left and placing his right hand wrapped completely around your shoulders beneath your left arm. He held you close in a tight and flush embrace, exaggerating his hips outwards and leading your feet to the beat and rhythm of the music.
Your eyes were wide and frantically looking everywhere else, breath hitching as he led you in the movements with such poise and ease. Meeting your eyes with the taunting and teasing gaze of the green-haired swordsman, you began to fall out of time to Luffy’s movements and stumble a little. You watched the swordsman’s chest tremble as a laugh fell from his lips at your stumble.
“Hey, hey, hey,” Luffy’s voice called to you, drawing your face up with his left hand weaving itself away from your right, “what’s the matter, are you okay?”
Your breath caught in your throat as he reached his hand up to touch your cheek tenderly. He continued swaying the both of you to the music while his eyes searched yours for the source of your unease.
“I-I just,” you began, your own eyes fluttering its concentration between his, “I’m a bit self-conscious dancing like this. It’s a bit-, uh-…”
He nodded with his brows furrowed, leading you with his verbal tone; “-a bit…?”
You clenched your teeth with a small grimace, “-a bit out of the ordinary? A bit unusual to be dancing like this?”
“Oh!” he nodded, returning his broad smile to his lips. He released your cheek from his left hand and again sought out your right to claim, “you don’t have to be self-conscious. As I said, I know what I’m doing. And if the attention bothers you so much, keep your eyes on me!”
The flush returned to your cheeks, the warmth threatening to tint its way to cover the entirety of your face as he confidently wove your right knee between his legs and swung his hips to the beat. You released a shaken breath from your lips, closing your eyes to bring your focus away from the Straw-Hat crew and their teasing gaze. Reopening your eyes, you met with the warm smile of your captain.
“There you go!” he complimented you while tracing small and indistinct lines on your spine, “‘atta girl!”
Internally, you were screaming. Your captain’s praise was nothing foreign to you, especially when in the heat of combat. Within the proximity he currently held with you, dancing you provocatively within the romantic atmosphere, this praise felt especially outlandish. Shaking your head to rid your mind of the fog his verbal praise rose within you, you kept your eyes fixed on him. His eyes softened as he began to hum along to the melody, twirling you away from him. Although his twirls moved your body far from his, he would always bring you back to hold you securely within his arms with his hips almost flush against your own.
As the dance continued on, you began to get more confident in your movements and trust for him to always support and lead you through it. He would sweep you into long-arched dips, circling around his body before having you snap back up to fall within his grip. All laughs and smiles drew upwards against your cheeks, a laugh or two flinging from your chests in glee to the music.
“How do you know how to dance like this?” you breathily asked him while he again twirled you to face away from him.
He released your hands from his grasp as he slowly ghosted them over your ribs, dragging them to rest on your hips. With closed eyes, he brought his lips up to your exposed neck and whispered against your skin: “Shanks taught me.”
Your glazed eyes opened widely, a small “oh” parting from you in surprise. You had heard many tales about Red-Haired Shanks and his crew of seasoned pirates from your captain. It should come as no surprise to you that he had shared more knowledge than the influence of a life of piracy onto your captain, but apparently the charm that comes with sensual dancing.
“When you were a child?” you asked him, lulling your head over as he continued to hold his lips a hair’s length away from your skin. He hummed in confirmation, the vibration prompting your pores to spring upwards over your neck and forearms.
“And the knowledge wasn’t lost to you over the years?” you quizzed him. His hands shifted you within his arms, turning you to face him again.
“I practiced with my brothers,” he chuckled, placing his forehead against your own, “my biggest brother would play guitar sometimes. I’d make my other one dance with me to the music.”
Before you could ask Luffy any further questions on the matter, the music concluded and your captain released you from his arms and cheered loudly to praise the musicians for their song. You trailed your gaze from the raven curls atop your captain’s head down over his sun-kissed skin to hold your lashes half-lidded as they sought out his eyes once more. He was so handsome, you knew that much was certain. All the time you spent together aboard the Merry had you drawing yourself closer to him, but now; you were completely smitten.
His joyful and lilted praise drew itself to a close, him turning to meet your eyes once more with his warm eyes. He reached his left hand down to collect yours within his comforting grip.
“Did you want another dance?” he asked hopefully, before he tore away his gaze to seek out a vendor’s stand behind him, “or we could get a drink? I could go for another one of those juice-things, I think.”
You giggled, reaching up your left hand to caress his smooth cheek. His skin ignited beneath your touch, glowing alongside the smoldering embers of the beach-front fire.
“As long as I'm with you, I’ll follow you anywhere,” you answered whimsically, prompting him to reach his forehead down to touch against your own. His nose scrunched up once more, his lips drawing out to a large smile as he answered you.
“Okay, great! Juice first,” he confirmed, nodding against your head, “then more dancing.”
“Aye, Sir.”

In the middle of the ocean, on a small island lost in thick fog, lay the crews of the Straw Hat and Heart Pirates. Once again their paths crossed, much to Trafalgar Law's misfortune and Monkey D. Luffy's delight. Despite having seen each other a few weeks ago, Luffy insisted that this umpteenth encounter should be celebrated with a big feast, a bonfire, and music. The Hearts, equally fond of a good night's drinking, gladly accepted the offer without consulting their captain, who had expressed reservations about the idea. Although Law was hesitant, his crewmates knew he didn't harbor animosity towards the Straw Hats and that he would be unable to resist an evening with them. Why? Well, let's just say they were well aware of their captain's weak spot... a weak spot concealed within the opposing crew.
A cheerful melody of violin fills the night air. Between the beach and the tropical forest, a towering fire illuminates the faces gathered around it. Luffy, Penguin, Shachi, Usopp, Bepo, and Hakugan dance enthusiastically around the flames, waving their arms and reveling in the moment. Even after a hearty meal the guys find the energy to twirl and celebrate. Chopper, his belly full, peacefully dozes in Robin's embrace while she talks with Jean Bart and Jinbe. Brook plays the violin while Franky joins in with an old tune. Nami, Zoro, Uni and Clione are competing to see who can best hold their liquor, with the redhead taking the lead of course. After completing his cooking duties, Sanji approached Ikkaku, expressing that he doesn't have the opportunity to see her often and desires to cherish every moment in her delightful company throughout the evening. Although unimpressed by the blond's flattery, the young woman allowed him to continue to be around her. Leaning against a tree, Law observes the pirates with a bored expression, yet a faint smile betrays his true feelings.  And you? You sit slightly apart from the others, quietly observing the festivities.
The others made efforts to include you in their activities, and you almost succumbed to Usopp's invitation; however, you opted to take it easy instead. Despite your desire to join the dance, you feel too drained to participate. While you find the drinking competition entertaining to watch, your distaste for alcohol prevents you from taking part. Although you enjoy listening to Robin's stories, there's a risk of nodding off while she speaks. Right now, despite your body craving it, sleep is the last thing on your mind.
You're glad to see your friends unwinding and enjoying themselves; everyone needs it. It's a relief that the Sunny has stopped at a deserted island. Since leaving Wano, you've encountered one unpleasant situation after another with pirates who believed they can defeat Luffy. Additionally, you've had to hastily depart from the last three islands as the Navy was covertly lying in wait for you. It feels like the crew's every move is being meticulously tracked. Nami insisted on searching the Sunny in case a camera had been planted on board. Thankfully, nothing was found, but it's clear that every member of the crew is exhausted. Meeting the Hearts provides the much needed distraction to unwind.
You can sense that Law isn't pleased with this coincidence. At least he's smiling. You noticed it when your gaze landed on him. The fire casts such a beautiful glow on his skin. He's dressed in a white tank top that showcases his black tattoos. You're secretly admiring the artwork - well, you think you're being subtle, but you soon realize that Law is watching you. Caught red-handed, you quickly avert your gaze. Despite this, you can still sense his eyes on you, and it's embarrassing.
“Chronicler-san!”
You are surprised when you hear your nickname cheerfully shouted by the Heart navigator. The guys halt their dancing while Brook takes a break to stretch his bones. Bepo, exhausted and needing to catch his breath, settles down next to you. You greet him with a warm smile. The polar bear is someone you appreciate, even though you've never had time to chat for more than a few minutes. It's not as if you've had the opportunity in the past. You're constantly in dangerous situations or caught up in Law and Luffy's plans. Come to think of it, this is probably the first time you've all been together outside of a mission.
"It's a beautiful night!" he says, wiping his forehead with the back of his hand. He's breathing hard, which is not surprising given his size, but he still takes the trouble to ask if you're okay between breaths.
"I'm fine, and you? Life with your crew isn't too hard?" you reply in a playful tone.
"I could ask you the same question about yours," he replies, laughing. "I'm fine, a little out of breath."
"A little?" you say, raising your eyebrows and smiling, gently teasing him. You've just witnessed him dancing for a solid thirty minutes. It was quite entertaining. It's a good thing everyone was dressed casually; otherwise, you're sure Bepo would have fainted. He might have even ended up in the fire. There's always something wild happening at parties.
Bepo usually chooses to be by his captain's side, so you get the impression that he hasn't come to see you by chance. You're curious about why he's here, but based on what little you know of him, you can tell he's likely searching for the right words. You choose to keep the conversation going.
"How's your journey been since Wano? I hope you haven't run into too much trouble with the new bounties, unlike us."
"We came across a few annoying cases, but Captain is so strong, he wiped them out in a heartbeat!" Bepo gestures animatedly as he speaks with such admirationI. It's cute. "To avoid drawing any attention, we stayed underwater most of the time. Otherwise, the Marines would have chased us too."
"Oh Bepo!" you gasp, and it's his turn to jump. "Would you trade places with me? I'd do anything to live underwater for a while and vanish from the Marines' radar!"
"I don't think the captain would be happy about losing his navigator!" He chuckles, glancing at Law, who once again looks your way, though you remain unaware.
"Don't worry, I've got a plan," you wink at Bepo and motion for him to lean in. As his ear draws near, you whisper, "I'm going to dress up as a polar bear, and you're going to wear a wig. No one will suspect a thing!"
Bepo straightens up with a laugh. "Do you even have any navigation skills?"
"No, but that's a detail!"
You both laugh at this outlandish idea. Pulling off such a plan would be next to impossible, but the thought of wearing a polar bear suit and casually strolling around the Polar Tang brings a smile to your face. You can imagine the amused reactions of the Heart Pirates, except for Law. As for Luffy, you know he'd be thrilled to have Bepo join your crew simply because he's a mink.
"What brought you out of hiding?" You ask.
“Hm?”
"Why did you surface and come to this island?"
"Oh! Um... Well... It's kind of my fault. I enjoy being on the Polar Tang, but after a while, I start craving some sun and fresh air. My body can't handle the heat of the submarine. Maybe I complained a bit too much to the captain, and he agreed to stop at the next island, which happened to be this one." The navigator scratches the back of his head, embarrassed.
"I'm sure the others wanted some fresh air too. Just look at them!"
The two of you take a moment to observe the Heart Pirates. All you see are smiling faces, including Hakugan's mask. To you, this scene appears ordinary, but for Bepo, it holds significant meaning. They spent months without their captain, wondering if he would come back alive. And when he did, they had to face two emperors, which could have ended badly. Bepo smiles proudly. Their captain is healthy, and everyone is safe. They emerged victorious.
"I was so relieved when I saw the Polar Tang in the distance." you murmur as you continue to look at the others.
"Really?" asks Bepo, curious to know the reason.
"Yeah... I'm tired of all the fighting. We haven't had a break in ages. When I saw the submarine, my body just relaxed. I know you won't harm us. I feel safe with you guys." You glance at Bepo with a wide smile and flushed cheeks. Suddenly, you realize the magnitude of your words. "B-But I know we're not... I mean, we're enemies."
“Right, enemies…”
As if you shared the same brain, your attention shift to Law and then Luffy. Finally, you meet each other's eyes and hold back a laugh. Yeah, enemies. Luffy can't consider Law a real enemy, not after all they've been through. And honestly, you'd like the alliance to be renewed, someday. It may never reach the same level as when Law lived aboard the Thousand Sunny, but having him as an ally is comforting.
"I'm glad you feel this way with us. I feel safe with you too!"
You're taken aback by his declaration, and even more so by the wide grin Bepo offers in return. You don't doubt his sincerity. Your heart races, and your cheeks ache from smiling so much. Then, you hear a small voice in the back of your head saying, "He shouldn't."
You look at the fire, and gradually your smile loses its brightness. Returning to the boat would be a wise choice. The conversation is enjoyable, but you shouldn't continue. You're enemies, despite everyone getting along well. It's only a matter of time before Law betrays Luffy again.
Bepo noticed the sudden shift. “Alright, now would be a good time to intervene,” he thought. But how? It's not for nothing that he decided to approach you. While he was dancing, he noticed that his captain was watching you intently. The subtle frown of his eyebrows meant he saw something wrong with you. And it must have been very important, given the tension in his shoulders and his clenched jaw. As his second mate, it was his duty to find out what was wrong with you, for the sake of his captain's sanity!
Now that he's close to you, he sees what his captain noticed.
"Are you sure everything's alright? Your dark circles are starting to look like the Captain's, and that's never a good sign," Bepo jokes, trying to lighten the mood with his question.
"It's a bit unsettling, isn't it?" you ask, with a dry laugh. "I don't sleep very well."
"B-because of the attacks?"
You hesitate for a moment. "Partly."
Bepo senses there's something more, but he's uncertain how to encourage you to open up without crossing any lines. Yes, he's eager to assist his captain, but... Bepo genuinely wants to help you. He's always held a fondness for you. He recalls your initial interaction: you were kind and appreciative. His mink instincts don't fool him; he's adept at sensing energies that humans might overlook.
"Captain could prescribe you some sleeping pills," he suggested in a hushed tone.
"I don't want to sleep," you confessed darkly.
Instantly, Bepo understands.
"Nightmares."
You nod in agreement. Bepo has known Law since childhood, and living with someone who suffers from chronic nightmares alters one's perception of sleep. For Law, sleep isn't refreshing. Bepo has seen him push himself to stay awake to the brink, and it's not a pleasant sight. So when you mention that you're reluctant to sleep because of nightmares, the navigator believes he can understand the root of the issue. However, he doesn't plan to pry further with any probing questions.
"As a doctor's assistant, I feel obliged to list all the reasons why sleep is important, but I suppose you already know them all."
You tilt your head slightly and regard him with curiosity. "You help Law during surgery? I had no clue! How long have you been studying medicine?"
"Oh, well, everyone in the crew knows how to assist the captain during surgery! It's crucial knowledge that enables us to handle situations both on and off the submarine. I've been learning for - You've changed the subject."
You look down, embarrassed.
“I did. Sorry…”
"N-no! I'm the one who's sorry!" Bepo attempts to reassure you, his tone gentle. He doesn't want you to think he's mad at you.
"Please, don't be. I'm the one who tried to fool you."
Bepo sighs, concern etched across his features as he observes you. He notices your trembling hands, the dark circles under your eyes... You don't resemble the vibrant young woman he met at Sabaody. Reflecting on it, even during your time in Wano, you seemed burdened by stress, much like everyone else.
"How many hours have you been awake...?"
"About... 60 hours, I think. Actually no, that's not true. I sleep 5 to 15 minutes every few hours, it's never a deep sleep. I wake up as soon as I hear a noise. The adrenaline rush from the fights keeps me going, pushing myself beyond my limits. But I feel strange. My heart feels like it's pounding everywhere, I can't focus on writing, food's lost its appeal, Sanji has saved my ass a few times during fights because I'm not paying full attention, sometimes my vision gets blurry and I see things in the corner of my vision. But otherwise I feel fine."
In one breath, you spill out your words, leaving Bepo staring at you with wide eyes, clearly shocked by your extreme lifestyle. He shouldn't be so surprised; enduring 60 hours without sleep is far from healthy, but for you, it seems, this is just another day in the life.
"Have you discussed it with the others...?"
"They're aware of my nightmares; that's nothing new. But I haven't brought up my current issue. It'd be foolish for Monkey D. Luffy to have a crewmate who can't sleep due to stupid nightmares... I don't want to embarrass him."
"Nightmares are not something to be taken lightly, especially the ones that are-" Bepo stops abruptly, his expression twisting into a grimace. "Uh.. Don't feel ashamed. Capt-," he halts once more, grunting in frustration. His lips clamp shut as he bites down on them, then he resumes, "I know someone incredibly strong and respected who dealt with nightmares. They'll never be seen as weak or a disgrace in my eyes. They're truly remarkable, destined to become the king of—" Bepo abruptly cuts himself off, covering his mouth with his hand. He's let slip more than intended.
The navigator's reaction is cute. It's clear he's referring to Law. You appreciate what he's trying to say. You understand why the Heart Pirates hold the polar bear in such high regard; he truly has a talent for making people feel at ease with his attentive listening and open-mindedness. You can't help but wonder if he also serves as a psychologist on board the submarine; it wouldn't be surprising.
Slowly, you lower your head, resting your elbows on your knees and concealing your face behind your hands, assuming a vulnerable posture. With your back bent and your shoulders trembling, it's a sight that catches Bepo off guard. Panic grips him, and he quickly scans the surroundings, ensuring that no Straw Hat crew member is watching. You're... You're crying. And he's the one to blame! He feels a pang of guilt wash over him. He's replaying what he said to you, he doesn't know what could have provoked such a reaction! He wouldn't dare hurt you on purpose!
Bepo's hands fidget nervously as he mutters a string of "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" His entire focus is on you, but he can sense his captain's frustration looming in the background, only adding to his anxiety. If you were part of his crew, he'd instinctively reach out to hug you, offering comfort and reassurance. But you're not part of his team, and he hesitates, unsure if such a gesture would be appropriate. After all, he doesn't know you well enough to gauge your comfort level with physical contact.
“Can I... hold her? Give her a hug?” Bepo's thoughts race frantically as he considers the consequences. “I've seen her snap a man's neck with one kick—I don't want to die!” But the fear of the Straw Hat discovering her tears fills him with dread. “If they see her crying, they'll know I'm the cause... they'll kill me!” He shudders at the thought of facing the wrath of the redhead. “I don't want to provoke her wrath, she's terrifying!” Panic grips him as he wrestles with his dilemma. “Oh no, what am I doing? WHAT AM I DOING??? I'M SO SORRY!”
Behind your hands, a sound that doesn't resemble crying catches Bepo's attention, halting his panic. He tilts his head, intrigued, and whispers your name. Swiftly, you unveil your face to reveal a broad smile, tears glistening in the corners of your eyes. You don't look sad, on the contrary, you're laughing! Relief floods through the navigator as he releases a breath he didn't realize he was holding. For a moment, Bepo had feared the worst—walking the plank and sparking a conflict between Law and Luffy. But now, seeing your smile, he knows everything's alright.
You wipe away your tears of laughter and jest, "What kind of spell have you cast on me, Bepo? I never allow myself to broach this subject with my friends, yet here I am, spilling my heart out to you without a second thought!"
From the look on his face, you realize you've startled him. You let out a soft giggle and gently pat his back. Predictably, Bepo hangs his head and apologizes. Wanting to reassure him, you decide to do what comes naturally to you: offer a hug. You're not sure if he enjoys being cuddled, but he seems like the type who appreciates a good hug. After all, you've witnessed him embrace several members of his crew before.
Since the navigator towers over you by several heads, you have to stand up to reach his neck. Bepo quickly catches on to what you're trying to do and bends over slightly to make it easier for you, allowing you to control the strength of the embrace. As your arms encircle his neck and your face brushes against his fur, you freeze.
"B-Bepo..." you whisper.
The mink senses the tension in your body and quickly pulls away, fearing he's made you uncomfortable. But as he looks at you, he sees anything but discomfort in your expression. You stare at him as if he were your soulmate, as if he were an oasis in the desert, as if he were the most delicious treat in the world!
"Bepo!" you shout, disregarding the volume of your voice entirely. "You're... you're... so..."
"Y-yes?"
"You're so... FLUFFY!!!"
Once again, Bepo relaxes. "Thank you! We polar bear minks are known for having very soft fur," he responds, his tone tinged with pride as he puffs out his chest.
His pride comes to an abrupt halt when he hears you say, "Give me your fur!"
"Huh?! No way!"
You burst out laughing at his reaction.
"You can touch me, if you like. But you can't have my fur!"
"Really?" you say, hopeful.
Bepo nods eagerly, a wide smile spreading across his face, showcasing his beautiful, sharp teeth. Seeing his joy, you can't help but smile too. Driven by a sudden warmth in your chest, you decide to climb onto the polar bear and settle in his lap. It's impossible to wrap your legs around his waist, his stature is impressive, but that doesn't stop you from trying. You can't stop giggling like a child. Your fingers trace down Bepo's arms to his shoulders, and you even muster the courage to touch his round cheeks. It strikes you as surprising that this is the first time you've thought of cuddling him, and you find yourself wishing you'd done it sooner!
Struggling to remain composed, you fight the urge to cling to the navigator and squeeze him like a cuddly stuffed toy. It's not the first time you've had such an impulse. In the past, you nearly suffocated Chopper in your embrace when he donned a cow costume; and poor Karoo fell victim to your accidental feather-plucking. You've always been wary of approaching small animals (and even larger ones) for fear of inadvertently harming them with your overwhelming cute aggression.
You don't want to hurt Bepo, but you want him to know how much his fluffiness messes with your brain.
"You're so cute and soft! I want to bite you!"
Bepo flinches and lets out a little cry of fear. "Please don't!"
You squeeze him with all your strength and rub your face on his furry chest, releasing a high-pitched squeal of delight. Your statement catches him off guard; while he's accustomed to receiving compliments on his fur, being told that someone wants to bite him for it is a first. Unsure of how to respond verbally, Bepo reacts instinctively, wrapping his arms around you and rubbing his head against yours. The two of you share smiles and giggles, caught up in the moment. He couldn't be more adorable!
You let out another cry of joy, causing heads to turn in your direction. The music abruptly stops, and you feel a pang of regret for disturbing everyone. You hadn't realized you were being so noisy.
Suddenly, rubbery arms wrap around you and Bepo, pulling you both into an even tighter embrace. Luffy's body collides with yours, almost knocking the breath out of you. Like a true monkey, the young man clings to you, laughing gleefully in your ear.
"Oi bear, you are fluffy shishishi!"
As you catch your breath, Penguin, Shachi, Hakugan, Franky, and Brook all join the hug. You're completely crushed under the weight of all the men—and the skeleton—but you don't mind. It's a shower of love that you happily accept!
"Yohoho, your fur is so soft! Oh, but I can't feel it, I have no skin yohohoho!" exclaims Brook.
You roll your eyes, a gesture Brook can't mimic, at his classic skeleton joke.
"Bepo is the fluffiest!" declares Penguin.
"Yeah, he's the best mink!" adds Shachi.
The boys return to dancing and singing, leaving you alone with Bepo. His face is flushed with embarrassment, but there's also a hint of happiness in his expression knowing he caused this adorable moment. You're the last one to remain in his arms, cherishing the warmth of the embrace.
You release a long, contented sigh and allow your eyes to drift shut. Gradually, your body begins to relax. You immerse yourself in the sounds around you—the crackling of the fire, Bepo's steady heartbeat, Brook's music, the chatter of voices—and find the atmosphere to be perfect. Feeling a protective hand resting on your back, you take it as confirmation that Bepo doesn't mind your presence on his lap. Whatever worries you had earlier, they slip away from your mind. Normally, you'd muster the strength to snap yourself out of such a relaxed state, perhaps with a sharp slap to the cheeks, but right now, you find yourself unable to resist the pull of fatigue.
Before long, you fall asleep. It feels like being cradled by a giant teddy bear, shielded from the demons of the night. Bepo becomes your protector, kicking away any bad memories and nightmares, ensuring you're safe and sound in his arms. Almost unable to believe it, Bepo watches you sleep, feeling a sense of happiness wash over him. 60 hours awake... If you had continued, you could have slipped into psychosis.
A little further away from the duo, Law sits with his arms crossed and jaw clenched. He attempts to focus on the fire, seeking distraction, but his gaze inevitably returns to you. Your face is nestled against Bepo's chest, mouth slightly parted, hands grasping the bear's fur. A stray lock of your hair appears to tickle your nose; he has the urge to step forward and gently tuck it behind your ear, but refrains. Instead, the captain remains seated against a tree, determined not to retreat back to the submarine.
Of course, Bepo would notice your fatigue; it was obvious. It was the first thing Law noticed when you walked onto the beach.
You stepped off the Thousand Sunny with a radiant smile. You were looking at your feet, a habit he noticed, to avoid falling or running into someone else. Ikkaku took you in her arms, the lucky girl. That's when he saw it. Right there. Your hands, resting on the young woman's back, trembled ever so slightly. Were you that eager to see his crew? No, it couldn't be; when you're excited you tend to hop to your feet, and would have thrown yourself at Ikkaku to cuddle her. His suspicions were confirmed as you stepped back to chat with the brunette—your eyes were heavily bagged. So you were tired. When you're working on the logbook or writing a story, sometimes you get so immersed in your work, you end up pulling an all-nighter. Maybe you've been working a lot the last few days? While plausible, he couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to it.
Law recalls something peculiar about your behavior earlier in the day. You frequently glanced behind you in a manner that appeared paranoid. Moreover, you seemed more on edge, visibly flinching when Clione tapped you on the shoulder and even when Sanji placed a glass down in front of you at dinner. Nami's earlier conversation with Shachi may shed some light on this.
"People are insane for wanting to test Luffy's power! Ever since his new, stupid poster came out, wannabe pirates have been constantly coming at us! One group even had the audacity to attack us during the night! Zoro was pissed. We thought we could rest on the next island, but nope! The Marine was waiting for us. Sanji didn't even have time to buy food; the boys had to fish every day! I'm sick of eating fish! The Marines pulled the same stunt two other times, but at least on the last island we had enough time to roam around for a few hours and stock up. I decided to change course completely, and that's how we ended up here. So if you attack us, I swear, I'll electrocute you all."
Your nervousness could be attributed to the constant presence of enemies. Yeah, that's likely it. Tonight no one's going to attack you—Law's going to ensure that.
In the ongoing competition, Nami and Zoro are the final contenders. The swordsman eyes the opportunity to pocket some money, and he's adamant about seizing it. Though he's never emerged victorious before, tonight might just be his chance. Meanwhile, Nami has no plans of letting him walk away with the prize without a challenge, but she enjoys seeing him give it his all until he eventually succumbs to sleep.
But, Nami suddenly stops drinking, leaving a glass half-full.
"What? Now you're going to give up? I knew you were going to lose," says Clione, clearly intoxicated.
The redhead doesn't seem to hear; she's bewildered by what she sees across the fire. Has she indulged in too much alcohol, leading to hallucinations, or is it actually you sleeping? Doubtful of her own condition to discern reality, she slaps Zoro's shoulder and gestures towards you. Gradually, the swordsman follows her gesture and frowns in confusion.
"Am I crazy or...?"
"You are crazy, but it's real," replies Zoro. He waves his arm to get his captain's attention. "Oi, Luffy."
The young man tilts his head to the side and stops playing with the guys. He follows the navigator's finger and a huge grin spreads across his face when he sees you sleeping in Bepo's arms. Finally!
"The party's over."
Brook and Franky immediately stop playing music, leaving only the sounds of the fire and nature. The Hearts are visibly intrigued by this drastic change of mood. When Luffy says the party's over, something's wrong.
"What's going on?" Ikkaku asks, a worried look on her face.
Robin stands up while keeping the little reindeer in her arms, gently stroking his head.
"The recent events have affected the sleep of the whole crew, but (y/n) is the one suffering the most. We've tried to help her by giving her chamomile tea and exhausting her with training, but it's not working. Bepo, would you be willing to spend the night with her?"
All eyes are on Bepo, who must deliver an answer quickly. He's feeling the pressure of the Straw Hats. Disappointing them is the least of his concerns; the navigator considers that he owes them nothing. The alliance has dissolved in Wano, and there's nothing compelling him to comply with Nico Robin's request, but... The thing, or rather the person, that makes him hesitate is just a few meters away. Bepo doesn't dare turn to his captain, as it might raise doubts, but he can sense a negative energy emanating from his direction.
"Are you sure this is a good idea? Uh... S-she might wake up if I move."
"No problem; you just have to stay in this exact spot and not move a muscle," Nami replies, her arms crossed and a tone of finality in her voice, indicating she's not open to negotiation.
"Okay... B-but she might get sick if we stay outside!"
"Don't worry bro, I'll go get some blankets, no one will get sick." adds Franky with a thumbs-up.
Bepo lowers his gaze to your sleeping face. You look really comfortable... And with everything you've told him, it would be a shame to wake you up.
"Bepo, you have the right to refuse," Robin finally says, sounding sincere.
Did he truly have a choice? Because right now, he feels like murder will be committed if he refuses. Bepo doesn't mind sharing a sleeping space with you; you're not heavy, you smell good and he trusts you. Law is the problem. Bepo isn't the only one harboring this thought; Penguin and Shachi are visibly nervous as well.
"Bepo will stay with her," Law declares before anyone else can continue the conversation, thus putting an end to the negotiation.
"C-captain?" asks Bepo, uncertain and surprised.
"But only for tonight. My navigator is not at your beck and call," Law adds firmly.
"Of course, Torao." agrees Robin with a mysterious smile. "Franky."
"Yes! I'll be right back with the blankets, I'll be suuuuuuuuper quick!"
"SHH! You'll wake her up if you scream!" Sanji warns.
"Sorry! I'll be suuuuper fast!" murmurs Franky without losing his excitement.
"You're the one who's loud, shitty cook."
"What did you say mosshead!?"
"SHUT UP, BOTH OF YOU!"
"Sorry Nami-san!"
The pirates walk away, their voices ranging from hushed murmurs to boisterous chatter. The Straw Hats aren't good at going unnoticed - they never have been. In contrast, the Heart Pirates are accustomed to lurking in the shadows, making silence second nature to them. Most of them bid Bepo a good night, but Shachi and Penguin restrain themselves from voicing the myriad thoughts swirling in their minds. They know that uttering those thoughts could provoke their captain's wrath. They certainly don't want to risk being swapped for the night or, worse, dismembered. So, they remain silent, merely waving their hands in farewell.
And Law? He uses his power to return to the Polar Tang, without uttering a word.

Headcanon abo au/omegaverse
Alphas roar like big cats, alphas chuff and can't purr. Their growls are deep and loud, made to intimidate and to a degree force submission from the person they may direct it to if they chose to lace it with alpha timbre. Only alphas can do this.
Zoro uses intimidation and timbre a lot when younger and is one of the reasons he gets the nickname demon of the east so quickly. The selected few who gain emperor's haki (if alphas) normally have unnaturally strong timbre. He has a terrifying roar.
Luffy has it too of course, but doesn't really use it at all. I think ASL never really used this when together, not even when fighting. Ace may have tried it when really angry, but the face Sabo made caused him to never want to use it again. Luffy's roar is so deep feral sounding (and does not match that scrawny body pre TS) it literally makes people that hear it turn in the other direction. He doesn't really like to use it as he doesn't like to scare people. But when fighting it simply is natural for him to growl, roar and snarl like the feral monkey beast he is.
Betas can purr, but it may not come naturally for them. They can sort of make a chuffing sound, but just like omegas their vocal range is limited. Their roar and growls are more alpha-like but not in the same vocal range.
Usopp's natural purr is very omega-like. He is skilled in intimidating alpha roars too. This is a little unique for a betas but he perfected his impressions of both aloha and omega in syrup village as he grew up. In fights he uses this to his advantage and to intimidate and throw off his opponents.
He can copy almost any sound, be it animals, human, mechanical or other. On the crew hd sometimes messes with Franky who searches Sunny for that creaky squeaky sound until he realises it is just Usopp messing with him. He also makes games for Luffy and chopper where they get to guess the sound he makes, when they guess right he lies and comes up with an outrageous alternative and weaves a story that distracts them from calling him out on his bs.
Omegas can't chuff, only purr. And they may not be able to roar in the volume like Alphas, but they roar/scream like pumas/mountain lions when agitated (and sometimes in heat.) You ever heard that sound? Chilling.
Sanji scares the living shit out of opponents when he lets out his roar. It's quite unusual for omegas to be fighters, but among pirates it's a little more common as they overall challenge the status quo. Sanji doesn't like to use his roar all that much as it always causes a reaction of "Black leg, you're an OMEGA?!?" He uses salves and scent muting band aids on his scent glands to hide his scent so not to give his position as an omega away.

More omegaverse silliness: what if we take “Betas are a calming and stabilizing influence” and “Betas have less scent than Alphas or Omegas” to its absolute extreme and say that the reason for both of those things is that Beta scent works like a literal sedative, so they produce far less scent than the other genders do to avoid knocking people out. In small amounts, Beta scent will calm and soothe and clear the mind. In more concentrated amounts, Beta scent will send your ass straight to snorkmimimi land. When stressed or in danger, Betas will instinctively produce much stronger scent in an effort to basically knock out their attacker so they can get to safety.
Which is all to say that Beta Usopp absolutely one hundred percent has accidentally knocked out the crew like More Than Once from panicking in the early arcs. My mans gets too anxious and starts putting off the Go The Fuck To Sleep scent and we hear several meaty thunks from off-camera as everybody just passes out.

Prologue: Darek Red
Prrr. Prrr. Prrr. Cu-lick.
“It’s been quite a while since you’ve called, are you sure about this?”
“Quite. They made it clear it would be utterly careless not to. Expected arrival time is at sunrise. No messes, you hear?”
“Clear as day, sir. Considering the walk in the park you just gave me, should I leave the ‘Thank You’ note with them, or should I save that for when you decide to ring again?”
“Focus. Stick to the plan. And it wouldn’t hurt to remember our deal.”
Cu-lick.
“Great.”

Zoro stirred from his slumber as soon as he heard the laugh of his captain. Was it already time for Brook to take his shift? Did he sleep through breakfast? He didn’t feel the sun on him just yet. He shrugged it off. If there was danger, he’d know, no doubt. He allowed his shoulders to relax as sleep absorbed him once more.
Until suddenly, “Now, Usopp, Chopper!”
The floor shifted, he shot back, the air in his lungs suddenly slammed out of him as his head struck the glass of the crow’s nest. His eye shot open, but his vision swam, followed by a thrumming on the base of his skull. He quickly grabbed his swords that slid under the bench from the change of position, scoping his surroundings.
Of course, when his guard was down, something would happen to the ship. He ignored the way his vision blurred to turn around and scan the ship through the glass beneath him. He saw a familiar straw hat from a distance and loosened the tight grip of his blades. At least someone was out there.
What he still was trying to figure out was why in the hell was Luffy at the helm? Zoro ran to the hatch. He angled himself down the ladder and tightened his grip as he quickly realized they were soaring through the sky.
“What the fuck is happening?!” He shouted over the whipping wind, watching Luffy let go of the wheel to stand on the now horizontal mast.
He just laughed and held onto his hat, his standard goofy grin shined in the moonlight.  “We’re going to the city of meat, duh!”
“You idiot!” Zoro yelled. “We were going to be there in the morning!” His warning fell on deaf ears. Luffy, who was singing and dancing about meat, was too busy to care. He hoped everyone else was safe.
He already had a bad feeling about the poster they’d found on the ghost ship yesterday. The rest of the crew, however, seemed unfazed. Nami had determined from her Log Pose that they’d reach the island by sunrise, and everyone was eager for a break after the war they’d just endured. But, of course, Luffy’s hunger had to ruin that plan.
He glanced around while his thoughts wandered for a brief and unwelcomed moment.
Where was the damn cook? His face soured, trying to force the thought down as soon as it came. He’s probably clinging onto his bed in the men’s quarters like an idiot, he thought again, but the idea of Sanji flying overboard refused to leave his mind.
“He’ll survive just in spite of me thinking that,” He humored, muttering under his breath to himself, the usual bite in his tone gone. Still, he scanned the doors for a mop of blonde hair that he wouldn’t admit he waited to appear. If he had half the brain Zoro thought he had, he’s probably helping the others.
Now, Zoro was stuck there, gripping the rope ladder as he tried to make sense of the chaos. Over Luffy’s shoulder, he caught glimpses of the dark horizon. The Sunny pitched forward sharply, teetering above the sea before nose diving toward land. Zoro was relaxed as ever—if relaxed meant cursing under his breath and bracing for impact.
“Hold o-” Zoro’s warnings were cut off as the ship slammed into hard dirt, skidding like a rock skipping across a pond. Zoro jostled against the rope ladder with each impact, gritting his teeth. The hull screeched. Luffy was laughing, because of course this was absolutely hilarious to him, as he swung on a stretched arm. A chorus of startled yelling joined the ship’s groaning protests, the crew must have been rudely woken up just like him.
Finally, they stopped. The wood wheezed underneath them, the pitch black enveloping them on all sides.
“That was awesome!” Luffy’s cackle echoed off into the dark night as he dropped from the mast back onto the grassy deck. “Did you see that Zoro?!”
He did more than see it, he thought. He drops from the rope onto the deck. He went to reply, but heard doors slamming open and shut, followed by multiple yells for the same person.
“LUFFY!”
Everyone clambered in, one after another. Jinbei carried Brook’s head, while Franky angrily dragged the other two culprits with him. Behind them, Zoro sees a shock of blonde, and he lets go of a breath he didn’t realise he had been holding. He scratched the back of his head and rolled his shoulders, as if his previous worries would fall off of them. Adrenaline is still pumped through his veins under hot skin, cooled off by the night’s air.
“Morning everyone!” Luffy said excitedly, smile stretched so wide Zoro wouldn’t be surprised if his face stayed like that. “We’re here! Good work, Usopp and Chopper!”
“I can’t believe I let him talk me into this..” Usopp groaned and whimpered under the tight grip Franky held his waist in, and Chopper gasped for air.
“Too tight, too tight!” He clawed at the large hand with his hooves to no avail.
Nami was already tearing Luffy a new one, and Franky was following suit. Even Jinbei had a look of dismay, while Brook was steadily complaining in his palm.
“You can’t believe it,” Franky says through his teeth, dropping the two to the floor. “I can’t believe all the work I’m going to have to do on the Sunny because of you 3, this is not super, bros.”
“I’m thinking we should’ve kept him in the cage,” Sanji muttered as he let go of Nami and set down robin on the deck.
“I agree with you Sanji,” Nami bellowed as she charged past Zoro, and pinched hard on Luffy’s cheek. “I don’t think he learned his lesson from the waterfall, after all,”
Luffy whined halfheartedly like a child. “Ow- I’m really sorry, Nami.. I was just hungry, ya know!”
“When you’re hungry, you wake up Sanji. You don’t crash the ship into land in the middle of the night!” She screamed, and it ringed in Zoro's ears, the sharp pain in his head roared to life. He winced and rubbed the back of his head again. It didn't surprise him when he removed his hand that he saw smudges of red on his finger tips.
“Why didn’t you stop him?” He felt a gentle kick at his shin, turning to see Sanji staring at him. He had dark circles underneath his wide, tired eyes that bore straight through Zoro. The blond hair that covered his face illuminated with the light of his lighter. The flame flickered to life as he scanned around, taking in their surroundings. “What happened to keeping watch?"
Zoro rolled his eyes, “I keep watch against threats, not our own crew. Besides, how was I supposed to know what he was going to do, curly?” He really wasn’t in the mood to fight with the bastard, especially not this early in the morning. He watches Sanjis eyes look at him, squinting like he could see through him, his eyes lingering on the hand Zoro had rubbed his head with. Zoro wipes his hand on the back of his pants, shrugging it off like he already knew what Sanji would say next. They remain silent, but everything in Sanji’s eyes looks like they’re begging a question. Zoro chest tightens as he bit back the pain in his head and heart.
“I’m fine, Cook. Nothing happened,” Is all he gives, turning away to look at the rest of the crew. "Drop it."
“I didn’t say a thing, Moss,” Is all he says in response, lighting a new cigarette as he listened to the crew begin to brainstorm a plan of action.
After a moment of arguing and tired deliberation, All adventures to the mysterious Buffalo Bay were cut off for the night. Even with Luffy’s master plan, they had no choice but to wait until sunrise with how dark it was. Even with Franky’s freak ass lights, they could only see dirt and grass for what seemed to stretch on for forever. Robin questioned if there was any land of meat at all, and the fact they were stranded settled amongst the group in a grim veil.
So much for a tourist destination, he thought. He had heard enough of the plan. He walked away from the group, settling on the edge of the grass to rest his aching head. As sleep began to overtake him as he droned out the sounds of his friends talking, he couldn’t help but to feel a pit in the bottom of his stomach. It was small, but large enough to annoy him and eat away at his steeled nerves. Something was really off about this island. As sleep washed over him, he could only think that that was just something he’d have to worry about later.
