other talent swaps form this au and explanation for each one... idk if im going to do anything serious with it, so consider it just a "what if"
stars of the show:
David Chiem, Ultimate Student;
Min Jeung, Ultimate Motivational Speaker.
David was a curious child, but he lost his spark very fast. He always knew that if he wants to be loved he needs to be the best. In order to be an ideal for everyone and to escape his emotions and feelings, David only studied. In middle school his impressive grades caught attention of XF-ture Tech. They offered him to make a contract and take part in the Ultimate Student exam.
Min was originally one of the Ultimate Student exam participants, but a person form XF-ture Tech who was watching over her noticed that she wants to "save" and help people. They offered her to be a motivational speaker, with them as her manager of course. On the first year of high school Min received the title of the Ultimate Motivational Speaker.
they probably knew each other before the killing game, because they both work with XF-ture.
Teruko Tawaki, Ultimate Zither Player;
Alexander "Xander" Matthews, Ultimate Lucky Student.
After Teruko's brother were adopted, she decided that she will be a musician because music is the only thing left that reminded her of him, along with his handmade zither. She doesn't trust people much because they had always left her. Teruko says it's just her luck.
Xander's family died when he was a child, but he couldn't accept this and ran away from his town, so he never had a proper home since then. He wholeheartedly believes that he should've died instead, but he can't because things will never go as he wants. Xander's wounds are always open, no matter how long ago he got them.
Ace Markey, Ultimate Bowler;
Arei Nageishi, Ultimate Jockey.
All of Ace's siblings already took other sports, and he believes that he will never be as good as them. But bowling was Taylor's favorite sport, which inspired him a lot. After his friend's death, Ace started to take out all of his anger when playing. Who could've knew that it will make him the best?
All in Arei's family were jockeys, so she had to be one too to fit in. This made her life even worse, but she wanted to destroy her sisters lives by becoming the best and ruining their careers. And she did exactly that. But was it really worth it?
Charles Cuevas, Ultimate Plastic Surgeon;
Rose Lacroix, Ultimate Personal Stylist.
Charles saw how his brother died, and even though he doesn't remember anything about him, he still has the same feeling he had when he saw Elliot's face- he couldn't even tell if it was him anymore. Charles neglected everything that he didn't need for being a plastic surgeon just so others would never had that feeling.
Because Rose's family owns a hair salon, she had always been in the fashion world. She remembers all looks that she ever saw. Her ability to read people by the clothes that they wear helps her a lot, since she can't remember anything besides the visual part.
Hu Jing, Ultimate Art Forger;
Eden Tobisa, Ultimate Matchmaker.
Hu has problems with proving herself to others. She was interested in art, but she think of herself as "the worst in the world in a thing that I can do the best". Because of that she decided that people would see her as worthy enough if she copies others. Hu is ashamed of her talent, but it's still the only thing she's good at.
Eden believes that Love is the most important feeling in the world, so she wants to help other people find it. However, she can never find her Love herself. Eden doesn't like to think about it, so she only thinks about others.
Levi Fontana, Ultimate Pet Therapist;
Arturo Giles, Ultimate Rebel.
Levi decided to work with animals because they don't have weird secret social rules that people do. His family hated animals, though. It's good they're not here to spread hate anymore, right?
Arturo's parents were physically (towards him) and emotionally (towards Felicity) abusive. He ran away and never came back, leaving his sister alone with shitty parents and bullies at school, which completely destroyed her. Felicity wrote a letter to her brother and after committed suicide. Blaming himself for this, Arturo decided that he won't let something like this happen again. But in the end of the day he is still just a coward running away from his problems, isn't he?
Veronika Grebenshchikova, Ultimate Chemist;
J Moreno, Ultimate Clockmaker.
Chemistry is fascinating for Veronika. It's not boring- there's so many different reactions, so many things to explore. Her speciality is poisons, because everything about them is just amazing. Veronika seems to have a lot of burns. Wonder why.
J doesn't want to be associated with show business at all. Making and restoring clocks is calming, it has mechanisms that she loves, she can forget about everything when she works and no one sees her.
Whit Young, Ultimate Horror Fanatic;
Nico Hakobyan, Ultimate Effect Artist.
After Whit's mother died, he couldn't accept the reality, so he tried many things to escape it, but the only thing that helped him is Horror, because scenes in them overlay Whit's memories about his mother. But they are still deep inside, aren't they?
Nico doesn't like to be in public, so they work behind the scenes. It's better when no one sees them. And even though they still have to talk with performers, Nico knows that they probably won't see each other in person ever again. How long can they hide?
I just realized I made Xanvid Terumin omg it was not intentional I swear 😭😭 anyway I hope you liked it. should I post more about this au? I lied when I said I won't to anything serious with this btw. or not.
that's it yeah byeee

I know this isn't really feasible, since the Luthors have the means to get Lena the best plastic surgeons money can buy in the event Lena had facial scars, but I kind of love the idea of S2 Lena being introduced with a half-mask?
Like. You've got Lena straight up *looking* like an archetypical villain, having to work just that much harder to convince the world she's trying to do--and is-- good. You have her perpetual struggle to be heard past the mask, as demonstrated by the difficulties KMG had being heard through the porcelain mask on the Continental.
We'd also get the inevitable moment Lena chooses to reveal her scars to Kara. Or Supergirl. Or both. The vulnerability, the shame... the tears that come when Kara isn't unsettled the way everyone else is when they see. Even Jack-- for all the good, honest love he had given Lena-- failed that particular test.
I want to explore this.
#supercorp#masked lena au#thoughts#are there any fics with this trope yet?#i wanna live here for a bit

IT’S A CHEESEBURGER THING
For @fandomjumper247 who is craving fics while AO3 is off to war.
It's not very long, my dear, but I also love IronDad and SpiderSon so---
Set shortly after Endgame where Tony does NOT die. Obviously.
******
"Park your spandex wearing butt right there or so help me, Parker----!"
"Spandex butt," Morgan giggled, and Tony whirled on the five year old.
"Nope, hey. We don't repeat what Dad says when he's upset. You know the rules."
"He's upset all the time," Peter muttered and then quailed under the fierce glare from those brown eyes.
"Morgan!" Tony barked. "Get popsicles!"
"How many?" she asked, tilting her head in an exact imitation of her father. She knew how to negotiate, Peter thought.
"However many you want, Doodlebug. Go."
She trotted out happily as Tony advanced like a predator toward his prey and Peter sank reluctantly onto the sofa.
"What did I say? Hm? What did I say about pursuing this?"
The white scars on the right side of his face were like a lightning spread though the ear had been expertly repaired by the best plastic surgeon in the world. It frankly served to make him look cooler but Peter wasn't telling him that.
"Mr. Stark----" he began.
"Oh HELL no, you did not just 'Mr. Stark' me right now!" Tony snarled at him, poking a finger into his chest. Because he'd designed the suit, he knew exactly where to poke and it immediately retracted, leaving Peter wincing. Tony took this in and drew in a long inhale, like a growing tsunami.
"Friday! How many broken ribs?"
"Invasion of privacy," Peter tried and Tony raised both eyebrows in what Peter privately thought of as his 'Cap' look. It was the one he always gave Steve Rogers when he thought Cap was also pushing too hard.
"No privacy here. My house, my rules. Friday?"
"Seven, Boss."
"SEVEN," Tony repeated, but Peter was feeling it now and the adrenaline of his fight was wearing off. "I swear I am going to let Murdock hear about this," his mentor growled, as Dum-E rolled over with the medkit.
But he was gentle as he pushed Peter back against the cushions and got to work on the abrasions. Peter's spider enhanced healing would serve him well, but it still took time. Tony made him take super strong acetaminophen he'd worked on with Dr. Banner for super hero strength.
"Not much to do about the ribs," he said with real regret. "Which means you have to stay down, kid. Friday, let his Aunt May know, yeah?"
"On it, Boss."
Morgan returned with a very orange mouth and a blue popsicle in process.
"How many---?" Tony began and stopped. "Never mind. What I don't know I can't tell Mom."
"Seven," Morgan informed him helpfully, slurping on the blue one. "You can have some, Pete."
She came to lean over the back of the sofa and pat at his hair gently, already knowing that when he was here like this she had to touch carefully.
"That's okay, Morgs," he said, wincing a little as Tony swiped at the bruises on his face with an antibacterial wipe.
"Sorry," he said, but didn't sound it. It was the thing with Tony though, Peter thought drowsily as Ironman went hunting for the soft blanket, he was all bite even as he did everything possible to make sure the other person was safe and cared for.
Why they loved him after all. Peter and Pepper and Morgan. All of the Avengers.
Tony returned with the velvety soft grey blanket from Peter's room and tucked it around him. It was so warm and delicious.
"Mm, like a happy burrito," Peter slurred sleepily.
He could almost feel Tony's eyeroll.
"Cheeseburger," Morgan corrected. "They're better."
"And that's why your my favorite," Tony said immediately, removing the popsicle stick from her mouth. "All done. Crap, you're going to have such a sugar high."
He lifted his daughter into his arms and seated himself on the fat ottoman beside Peter's head.
"Can we get cheeseburgers?" Morgan asked.
Peter smiled at her.
"It's TWELVE---Nope. ONE FIFTEEN AM," Tony said with force. "And---" he paused.
"I could really put down some cheeseburgers, Mr. Stark," Peter said, the thought of them now making his stomach hurt even more.
There was a long silence.
"Cheeseburgers," Morgan whispered, touching her father's face gently.
Tony closed his eyes briefly and then ducked his head in defeat.
"Yeah okay, you two are awful. Friday, get us some cheeseburgers. Whatever's close and open." He glanced at Peter and pursed his lips in calculation. "Probably twenty."
Peter's mouth curled a little as Friday made the order. If Pepper had been here, no doubt he would be in the Stark's special medical wing of the penthouse they occupied when in the city. And well meaning as she was, Peter preferred Tony's way---the sofa, the blanket and the engineer's hand stroking Peter's curls as they waited for cheeseburgers and Morgan leaned on her father's shoulder, soothing herself by running her finger along one of the scars on his neck from the glove.
"Thanks, Mr. Stark," Peter murmured.
"Yeah, kid," Tony answered. "Still gonna pound Murdock for letting you get involved."
"I woulda anyway," Peter told him. "What we do."
Tony's hand stopped for a moment but then started to run through Peter's hair again.
"Yeah," he agreed quietly as Dum-E trundled in with a large Burger King bag, "it is."

Thinking about Surgeon!Eli meeting a kid who has a cleft lip and isn't scared of getting the corrective surgery. He's a brave little guy, about 4 years old, who does well every visit. He talks to Hawk about everything, all his interests, even the small things like his favorite food his mommy makes him.
Speaking of his mommy, Reader is the one super nervous and scared for her baby to go into surgery. She's the one talking fast and needing assurance about the procedure. Her mind is racing and so is her heart at the thought of her baby being in any pain at all. However, she knows his quality of life will be better with the surgery. This isn't for appearances. This is for his life and health.
Eli assures her every appointment that it will be okay. He won't say it but the nurses will tell her that he's the best peds plastics surgeon around. She won't find someone who cares as much as Eli Moskowitz and how will take care of her baby as if he's his own. Her heart and mind are put at ease. So when surgery day comes, she gives her brave baby boy a kiss on the head before he's taken back and she's left waiting.
When Eli comes out and tells her it went well and that they'll have him in a room soon, she wants to hug him. She thanks him over and over again instead, telling hi thanks for taking such good care of her baby. That little boy is her whole life. She doesn't know what she'd do without him and she'll do anything to make his life better, easier, happier. It means so much to her and she says she doesn't know how to repay him. He assures he that there's no need for repayment. This is his job, what he's spent his whole life working towards, and helping kids and their families is reward enough.
A few months later, Eli runs into the pair at the grocery. Reader's son sees him and runs up to him, screaming across the store for him. Eli crouches down to him for a greeting and asks him how he's doing. The little boy is so happy to see him and show him his healed lip. Eli already knew what the healed scar looks like from their last check up appointment months ago but indulges the boy with a smile.
"Now we match!" the little boy giggles.
Reader catches up and begs her son to stop running off like that. He's so rambunctious and independent that he can't help it. When they're on the pasta aisle, he volunteers to go get their favorite cereal and that he'll be "super duper fast." Only to get distracted by toy cars.
This time he's happened to get distracted by his favorite doctor in the whole wide world.
Eli smiles and stands as Reader picks up her son and puts him in the cart so he won't run off again. "How are you two?"
"Well," she tells him, smiling back. "How are you?"
"Great," he says and nods. "It's nice to see you. How're the pre schoolers liking that cool scar?"
Reader son grins. "I'm so cool! We play doctor all the time and I get to be the doctor like you! And fix everyone's lips like you do! And their arms and their legs and I listen to their hearts too."
"Really?" He asks. Her son nods and Eli sighs. "Wow! Sounds like you and I should be partners. We'd make a really great team at the rate your going."
The boy laughs and kicks his feet from the cart's seat, the idea exciting him. "That sounds like so much fun! I'll start soon!"
Reader can't help but giggle and smile. Seeing her little boy thrive after the surgery is great. Not that he wasn't thriving before but she was worried that the surgery Ishtar change things. He had friends before and he still has friends, but there was that motherly fear that things wouldn't stay the same. That somehow he'd be treated differently because of this. But he wasn't and he was happy. And it was thanks to Eli, their fantastic doctor who made it less scary for her and that much more amazing for her son.
The doctor standing in front of her that she can't seem to take her eyes off of. The guy who was making her son laugh and engaging with him in conversation that he was so happy about. The guy who looked good standing in a tight compression shirt and shorts, a little sweaty from what appears to be an afternoon run. Her heart thrums and flutters as he high fives her son with a big smile. And she thinks Oh shit, not again.

"I did it for me," reads the plaque held by the woman in a Botox ad. There's a sense that she's presenting the plaque to us, the audience, and it's kind of unnerving. The makers of the ad are conversant in the basic language of both body acceptance and choice feminism, and this ad is an attempt to make an end-run around any existing skepticism about cosmetic surgery, by appealing to free, market-savvy choice and its result, empowerment. This woman who paid a tidy sum of money for a smooth forehead and nonexistent nasolabial folds is not a dupe of the patriarchy, dammit! She's not doing it for a man; she's not doing it for a woman; she's doing it for herself, and those are the magic words. Variations on “I did it for me” appear and reappear in ads for Botox and breast implants; they're present when Vogue suggests—you know, just puts it out there—that you could shorten your toes in order to better fit them into Jimmy Choos; they exist whenever morning talk-radio hosts give away free breast implants to the woman with the best small-boobs sob story. "I did it for me," "I did it to feel better about myself," and, "I'm not doing it for anyone else" are defensive reflexes that acknowledge an imagined feminist disapproval and impatiently brush it away.
It's been twenty-five years since Naomi Wolf wrote, in her bestselling book The Beauty Myth, that "The ideology of beauty is the last one remaining of the old feminine ideologies that still has the power to control those women whom second-wave feminism would have otherwise made relatively uncontrollable." For all the gains that various women's movements have made possible, rigidly prescribed, predominantly white beauty standards are one site where time has not revolutionized our thinking. Concurrently, it's also where the expansion of consumer choice has made it possible to bow to such standards in countless new ways.
Choice has become the primary way to talk about looks, a phenomenon that journalist Alex Kuczynski called "an activism of aesthetics" in her 2006 book Beauty Junkies. In the book, the cosmetic surgery industry in particular is portrayed as a kind of Thunderdome where the waiting lists for a new injectable climb into the double digits, impeccably spray-tanned celebrity doctors jostle for prime soundbite space in women's magazines, and speakers at surgeons' conventions end their speeches with a call to "Push plastic surgery." With a rise in options—more doctors, more competing pharmaceutical brands, the rise of cosmetic-surgery tourism that promises cheap procedures in tropical locations—the landscape of sculpted noses and liposuctioned abs has been defined by choice. The "activism," too, is one of individual choice—it refers to being proactive about one's own appearance, vigilant enough to be able to head off wrinkles, droops, and sags at the pass. Framed within our neoliberal discourse, an activism of aesthetics doesn't dismantle the beauty standards that telegraph worth and status, but advocates for everyone's right to purchase whatever interventions are necessary to achieve those standards. The individual world shrinks to the size of a doctor's office; other people exist only as points of physical comparison.
Though we often think of beauty and body imperatives in their prefeminist form—the hobbling footbinding, the lead whitening powders, the tapeworm diet—the ostensibly consciousness-raised decades since the 1970s have brought a mind-boggling array of dictates, standards, and trends to all genders, but most forcefully to women. When capri pants were the move of the moment in the 1990s, Vogue was there to suggest quick surgical fixes for knobby knees and undefined calves. Less than ten years later, the clavicle was the body part du jour, balancing the trend of voluminous clothing with reassuring proof that, under all that material, the wearer was appropriately thin. (One clavicle-boasting woman stated to The New York Times that the clavicle was the "easiest and least controversial expression of a kind of sex appeal"—not as obviously sexy as breasts, but evidence of a physical discipline coveted among the fashion set.) A handful of years after that, the focus moved south again, to the "thigh gap" coveted by a largely young audience, some of whom blogged about their pursuit of the gap with diet journals and process photos.
Though certain types of bodies have historically come in and out of fashion—the flapper dresses of the 1920s required a boyish, hipless figure, while the tight angora sweaters of the '50s demanded breasts, or at least the padded semblance of them—the pace with which bodies are presented as the "right" ones to have has quickened. The beachy girls-next-door of the 1970s were elbowed out by the Amazonion supermodels of the 1980s, who gave way to the heroin-chic waifs of the '90s, who were knocked off the editorial pages of the early 2000s by the Brazilian bombshells, who were then edged out by the doll-eyed British blondes. Meanwhile, the fashion industry selectively co-opts whatever "ethnic" attributes can be appropriated in the service of a trend. Black and Latina women with junk in the trunk who have been erased by mainstream glossies, overlooked as runway models, and ill-served by pants designed for comparatively fat rears were rightly annoyed to hear from Vogue, in 2014, that "We're Officially in the Era of the Big Booty" thanks to stars like Iggy Azalea, Miley Cyrus, and Kim Kardashian. There is no wrong way to have a body" wrote author and size-positive sage Hanne Blank, but that sentiment will always be contradicted by a market, and a media, that depends on people not believing it.

sweet tooth fanfic idea
Okay so people, I just finished watching the last season of Sweet Tooth on Netflix, and holy moly is it so good. I had a few fanfic ideas that I hoped were already written, but if you're in the community, you've realized by now that we're kinda small.
So I decided to write my own (yay!!). I don't wanna give any spoilers but it's going to be about a bird hybrid oc (Mack) that's found and semi-raised by the Animal Army.
I want to focus on a few specific (all platonic so far) relationships Mack has and how his character grows as the seasons progress. I literally just wrote chapter one of the fic and decided to come talk about it on tumblr lol.
Anyway, here's the first chapter. It's more like a prologue that features Mack's dad who is going to be very relevant to the story later on.
Chapter 1 / prologue
It was just a regular Tuesday for Benjamin Crane when the end of the world hit. Well, at least when shit started to get actually real. Perhaps dumbing down the Great Crumble to a specific day wasn’t the most accurate way of looking at history, but it helped keep him sane.
It was the end of a long shift for Benjamin and he just wanted to go home to his wife, but he had one more argument to get through.
“Sam, I already told you. We had Room 3 booked from the very start of the week. Everything’s already prepped up for the surgery tomorrow. I can’t just bail out of it. The patient -hell the kid's family is counting on me.”
“So?”, dared to ask his collogue “I still don’t get how you can’t just rope Sthe new guy teve in. He has no major operations on for tomorrow as far as I know. And he’s more than capable of getting the job done. Not to burst your ego bubble, Benji but you’re as replaceable as the rest of us mate”
Benjamin made an incredulous expression. “Well if I’m ‘perfectly replaceable’, why don’t you go find another guy to help you co-op your operation?” he scowled.
“Come on, you know I need a plastic surgeon for this. There’s no way I can reconstruct that hand on my own. And last I checked, there wasn’t another one of you guys in the market. So you’re my best shot. You in or out?”, pleaded the surgeon.
Normally, Sam wouldn’t have needed another pair of hands to help him out, however, this one was a special case. The patient was a 20-year-old guy, who got his hand caught in a machine of sorts. According to the X-ray results, the hand was broken from multiple different places, and several tendons were snapped. As a general surgeon, hands weren’t Sam’s specialty. And no matter how much pride he had in his abilities, he knew when to ask for help. Even when it killed him inside. Even when it was from his best friend/arch-enemy (who was way too arrogant for his own good).
The argument was interrupted by the blaring alarm of an incoming ambulance. That was nothing out of the ordinary, seeing that the two colleagues were in the break area just outside the ER. Just as Benji opened his mouth the reply, the doors of the ambulance flew open and a team of medical personnel (who were decked out in hazmat suits for some reason) rushed a stretcher into the ER.
The two barely had the chance to take a look at the patient before she was out of sight. The woman looked deathly pale and her face had a sickly yellow hue to it along with beads of sweat that had drenched her hair and clothes. The skin around her nose and eyes were red and if Benji looked close enough, he was sure that he could see a few exposed arteries. The one thing that had unsettled both men was the rapidly twitching pinkie finger, which seemed to be the only sign of life from the patient.
After losing about five percent of the population of Earth, the Sick had seemed to be taken under control. The hospitals around the world had had about a month of Sick-less break until now. It seemed that another wave of the Sick was incoming.
Benji grimaced and bit his lip.
“That was…”
“Unsettling as fuck.”
“That’s one word for it.”
“You think it’s back?”, Sam tried to steady his voice.
He had lost his wife and kids to the first wave. Benji’s heart ached for him but he pushed the bitter feelings down. Getting sentimental never helped anyone. It hadn’t helped the woman he saw as a sister nor had it helped the two little innocent children he loved as his nieces.
“I don’t think it was ever gone in the first place” Benji answered honestly and took a few deep breaths to calm himself.
The lingering hazmat team outside the ER didn’t help settle any of their nerves, but they had more pressing matters to get back to. Sam patted Benji’s shoulder a few times before opening his mouth to speak.
“Think about it yeah? You still have the rest of the afternoon to think about it, but be quick. Promise, I’ll organize everything and I’ll talk to Steve. See if he’s up for covering your little case of local anesthesia.”
Benji snorted at that and shook his head in disbelief. What part of a ‘3-hour very important surgery’ did his friend not understand?
The patient up next was a nine year old kid that had fallen on his face. His parents had said that he slipped from some monkey bars. A broken nose and . It was nothing that major compared to what Benji usually dealt with, but these were the relatives of a friend he was talking about. Benji pinched the bridge of his nose in frustration, damn had he missed the old days where all he had to do was get in and out of a surgery. Managing the scheduling of the patients without any secretarial help in a collapsing world wasn’t the easiest thing in the world.
The hospital was short of staff at the moment, as it constantly was after the new ‘Sick Pandemic’ had broken out. Almost all of the nurses and other staff were either dead or transferred to ER or to the patient care areas that were heavily quarrantiened.
Finally, he let out a sigh of defeat and grunted. Hand operations were his favorite anyways.
“Fine, but I’m not organizing shit -and the beers on Friday are on you. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a very grumpy and pregnant wife to go back to.”
Sam forgot about the topic at hand at the mention of Pemma, a school friend of his. He let out an excited chuckle. He clapped Mikey’s shoulder.
“Oh yeah, how could I forget? Congratulations dude! I’m so happy for you two. Finally, becoming parents eh? Say hi to Pemma and Sam Jr for me yeah?”
“Sam for the last time, we’re not naming my child Sam Jr!”
“Pleaaseee? And it’s a unisex name. It can be short for Samantha if it’s a girl, or for Samuel or whatever that starts with Sam. Or it can be just Sam if it decides to be non binary or something one day! See? Win-win.”
The younger man gave him an unimpressed look and raised an eyebrow.
“Sam, my kid is not going to be nonbinary. See you tomorrow for the surgery, idiot.”
Benji pushed past Sam and walked toward his car. Now he had a very unpleasant phone call to make to the family of the kid he was supposed to operate the next day.
Benjamin Crane drove straight home, completely unsuspecting of what the future had in store for him, his wife, and his soon-to-be-born child.
Okay so that was that. Some feedback would be very welcome because I feel lost on which platform to post it on or if it would get any traction at all. I'd probably keep working on it tbh just to scratch that writing itch inside me but oh well. We'll see. Go watch sweet tooth if you haven't yet btw, it's amazing.

Can I have top surgery and be overweight? The Truth.
I am here to clear things about being overweight and top surgery (aka double mastectomy).
Can I have chest surgery if I am overweight? Blanket answer, yes you can.
HOWEVER, let's talk about some things first.
As soon as we peek under my blanket statement, most doctors will not want to touch you if you are too far outside their BMI index. Sounds like a preference, right? I mean, true, but they are a business and, like any other business, can refuse service for any reason. Especially when your life is in their hands.
The BMI index is followed to a degree by most plastic surgerons. This index is not to body shame you in this case. It is strictly for medical reasons. There are many medical reasons to refuse the surgery.
As you lay flat on your back, your own weight presses on your lungs and heart. This can actually cause damage your heart and lungs and also restrict your breathing even further.
Anesthesia issues are a lot deeper than most people realize. It is not just a harmless gas to keep you asleep. Anesthesia is poisonous to us, and it does more harm to your body the longer you are under its direct effect. Also, the more you weigh, the more they have to use. The best anesthesiologists in the world probably would have a hard time with this, especially depending on how long you can potentially be under. The more you weigh means more tissue they need to work with and extra time can mean complications not only while under the drug but can cause many complications after the procedure is done, and even when you wake up. Issues include headaches/migranes, intense nausea, vertigo like symptoms, having a hard time passing urine, lack of gross and fine motor functions, brain functions, paralysis, coma, and death.
Blood flow issues for people who are overweight are a real risk. The skin has stretched over time , and more skin, along with viable tissue, is thinner, with less of a blood supply being delivered to the skin and tissues itself.
Being overweight also means your skin is stretched and no longer has the same elasticity as if you were not overweight. This thin skin is easy to pull apart/tear.
Time in the operating room, more is not better. The longer you are being operated on, the more complications can occur during the procedure and during the healing process. (This is also a general risk)
Upping complications means more likely needing revisions. Plastic surgerons take this into consideration for your health. Insurance probably won't shell out for the same operation twice because of the views on transitioning lead to a lot of "this is just cosmetic."
Diabetes exponentially increases risk of infection and potential necrosis and gangrene (death of tissue).
You are a living canvas for the plastic surgeron(s), your results reflect highly on them. They want the best results for you, but they also have a reputation to upkeep.
If the surgeon gives a condition they consider reasonable and the patient does not produce results near their actual target BMI, which tends to be more liberal than the numbers that are thrown around, the surgeon can question the patients ability to be able to take care of themselves and adhere to the strict rules given for post operative care. A surgeon can also think "does this person want it bad enough if they can't do this request?". They may not say that out loud, but they may think it.
The heavier you are, the harder it is on your body to heal because the extra work your body needs to do to do daily tasks, let alone extra tasks yet also rest.
You do not realize how much and how often you use your chest muscles. Getting out of bed without being able to lift yourself up is really a thing. Using those muscles in some cases can cause rips and tears of stitches, tissues, and muscles.
Surgeons will give you realistic, cis-like results with your chest, this may mean you will not have a flat chest, they may perform more of a reduction than a double mastectomy. Surgeons will make your chest look proportional to your body, hence another surgery if you do lose weight.
Do they want you to have bad results? This is a physical correction to make a positive mental impact if you have bad results post-op. This may not really fulfill the function of procedures purpose to help you like your body.
Doctors want to know you want this surgery, so if they give you a time frame and you don't meet their goals, that's fair. You may have seen your day to day but the surgeron didn't and doesn't care. To them, you didn't meet their goals/ requirements. No surgeon wants to lose their job, role, or status.
Surgeons only want what's best for your health. It's not a shaming conspiracy, it's literally just biology.
Waiting sucks, we know. But what sucks more is that having bad results, you will have forever and potentially risking your life.

Baby Kal AU Headcanon
Kal gets his heat vision during a tantrum around 10yrs old. This time it happens to be Lena telling him no, and when his feelings get too big the lasers fire off-- except that its still Lena that he's glaring at.
It catches her on the side of the face. She cries out in sudden agony, spinning and clapping her hand over her face. It shocks Kal out of his tantrum, only for his anger to be replaced by fear and horror.
Kara's there the moment Lena cries out, standing between them and eclipsing Lena from Kal's view. Kal's eyes fill with tears as he recoils in apprehension, uncertain of what Kara will do next.
"I-I didn't mean to--!" His voice cracks as he hiccups a sob, before he whooshes out of the room-- out of the house entirely.
Kara hesitates before flying after him, turning to check on her wife first. Lena also recoils when Kara reaches for her shoulder, trying to turn her around to see the damage.
"I'm fine," Lena lies between muted moans of pain. "Go."
Kara obeys, and has a long talk with Kal, after she lets him cry his eyes out against her chest.
Later, she and Lena will have the argument brewing behind Lena's words in the kitchen-- a mundane parenthood argument of Kara dodging the responsibility of saying no, forcing Lena to be the bad guy, a choice Kara had no way of knowing that it would ultimately result in permanent scars.
Lena never holds it against Kal. They have their own long talk, as they discuss ways to reduce the risk of it happening again. Lena's always good about that-- treating Kal like an equal, despite being his mom.
She could afford the world's best plastic surgeons if she wanted to, but Lena chooses to let the burn heal naturally. She never once tries to hide it, doesn't feel an ounce of shame in it, but for Kal and Kara the brand across her cheek serves as a reminder of how easy it can be to hurt someone, even unintentionally.
And as a reminder that Lena chooses to love them anyway.
