Why Copper Bottles Are Eco-Friendly and Sustainable
Copper bottles have become increasingly popular in recent years due to their eco-friendly and sustainable nature. Made from pure copper, these bottles offer a range of benefits that make them a great choice for those looking to reduce their environmental impact. Here, we’ll explore why copper bottles are eco-friendly and sustainable, discussing their production, use, and disposal.
Sustainable Material:
Copper is a highly sustainable material due to its unique properties. It is 100% recyclable, meaning it can be reused indefinitely without losing its quality or properties. This recyclability reduces the need for new copper mining, which can have significant environmental impacts such as habitat destruction and water pollution. Additionally, copper is a long-lasting material, so products made from copper, such as copper bottles, have a long lifespan. This longevity reduces the need for frequent replacements, further contributing to their sustainability. Overall, copper’s recyclability and durability make it a highly sustainable material choice for a wide range of products, including copper bottles.
Longevity:
Copper bottles are renowned for their durability and longevity. Unlike plastic bottles that can degrade over time, copper bottles can last for years with proper care. This durability not only reduces the need for frequent replacements but also minimizes waste generation. By investing in a copper bottle, you can significantly reduce your environmental impact by reducing the amount of waste generated from disposable bottles. This longevity also makes copper bottles a cost-effective and sustainable choice for environmentally conscious consumers.
Antibacterial Properties:
Copper bottles are not only eco-friendly but also offer unique health benefits due to their natural antibacterial properties. Studies have shown that copper surfaces can effectively kill a wide range of harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi. This natural antimicrobial property eliminates the need for chemical disinfectants, reducing environmental pollution. By choosing a copper bottle, you can help prevent the spread of germs and contribute to a healthier environment. Additionally, copper’s antimicrobial properties make it a hygienic choice for storing water, ensuring that your drinking water stays clean and safe.
Reduced Plastic Use:
Reducing plastic use is crucial for a sustainable future. Start by carrying a reusable copper water bottle and shopping bag. Opt for products with minimal or recyclable packaging. Choose glass or metal containers over plastic ones. Use a refillable coffee cup and bring your own cutlery. Avoid single-use plastics like straws and utensils. Every small change helps protect our environment for future generations.
Health Benefits:
Regular physical activity boosts mood, reduces stress, and improves sleep quality. It also strengthens the heart, lungs, and muscles, reducing the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and cancer. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains provides essential nutrients for overall health. Adequate hydration and good hygiene practices further support a healthy lifestyle, promoting longevity and well-being.
Recyclability:
Recyclability refers to the ability of a product to be recycled or reprocessed into new materials. Materials like glass, aluminum, and certain plastics are highly recyclable. They can be melted or processed to create new products, reducing the need for raw materials and minimizing waste. Recycling conserves natural resources, reduces energy consumption, and decreases greenhouse gas emissions. It’s essential to choose products with high recyclability and to recycle items properly to support a circular economy and protect the environment.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, copper bottles are an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative to plastic bottles. Their production, use, and disposal have minimal impact on the environment, making them a great choice for those looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Additionally, they offer health benefits and are durable, making them a practical and environmentally conscious choice. Consider switching to a copper bottle today to reduce your environmental impact and enjoy the many benefits it has to offer.

She'd been struggling with his birthday -- debating on how to celebrate him. If she wanted to celebrate him, at all. After all, he had (not-so-kindly) put a damper on her birthday celebration, and it would take her a while to forget it. It was likely that Kid would have a good birthday, with or without her input --- it made her wonder why she cared, at all. She did, though. And for that, Kid would receive an expensive bottle of whiskey from one of the best distilleries in his homeland. Along with it, a decanter set in the shape of a skull, with matching glasses. Something about it simply screamed Eustass Kidd, and Nami knew he had to have it when she saw it. Attached, was a little note. She didn't make it a long one; simple, precise, cursive writing centered on the page:
Happy birthday, dickhead. - 🍊🧡
【 KID'S BIRTHDAY 2024. 】 @chatcambrioleur
When Kid had first discovered the Straw Hats were in the immediate vicinity, he had been keeping a very mindful eye out for their navigator in particular. If she was going to seek revenge for the events occurring during her last birthday, today would be the best day to do it. For this reason, he told himself he would be even more on guard than usual — but she was crafty, and he didn't trust her to not try something just because she was under additional surveillance.
Several hours have passed since he was first informed of their appearance, but he has still yet to spot her. Admittedly, his attention has since been divided; with his own crew members regularly approaching him to offer him warm words coupled with cold drinks, she has had plenty of opportunities to slip by him unnoticed. His attentiveness further dwindles with every mouthful of hard liquor, and his plan to intercept her arrival on his turf ebbs further and further away from him.
By the time he has found her gift, he has all but forgotten that he was originally intending to watch out for her. The copious amount of celebratory booze has stolen the scheme away from him, and the cat burglar has already successfully slipped away. In her wake, the note attached to the present she left him exposes his blunder. It is innocently placed on a wooden crate on the main deck, somehow teasing him, playfully mocking him with its mere presence. He recognizes her handwriting even without a blatant signature; her elegant script was distinct in its meticulousness.
If she ultimately does still intend to later return and make an attempt at humiliating him today, at least the generosity of the birthday present will soften the blow. There's no doubt over him liking the items she's selected — a pair of copper irises linger over the decorative skull-shaped bottle for a long time, and his expression brightens in a way that is immediately telling. Nami was always full of surprises, but he hadn't expected any of them to be the kind that would genuinely please him.
It is rare for him to willingly share with anyone other than those who sailed under his flag, and yet, he finds himself considering that if she has not yet entirely absconded the area, he might be willing to offer her a few sips. He carries the glass skull neatly tucked under his arm, and one of the corresponding glasses in each hand. It is likely the alcohol already in his system is the culprit for this minor display of geniality, but he will not consider that now.
He looks for her, briefly. He checks in with those on his crew who had been performing guard duty, and then he asks anyone who might have noticed when the whiskey first appeared. Stealth was her profession, and in the midst of birthday merriment, there was barely a sober member of his crew now remaining. She must have found it no major feat to appear, only to then quickly bleed back into the cover of nightfall.
A shame, he thinks. He might have liked to have asked if it was bought, or stolen. He suspects he may know the answer already, but he is starting to come to terms with the fact that he may be less adept at predicting her actions than he first assumed. He will drink his own glass, and then he will have hers as well. The smooth amber liquid reflects the quality of the artistic container it is presented in. She's got good taste, but he'd figured that much out a while ago.
Regardless of how good the whiskey is, he will make sure to save some for her to try the next time they meet. The first taste will be complementary, but on the understanding that additional refills will need to be exchanged for more of her tangerines.

The Antiquarians … aged 10
There used to be an antique shop on Bolton Street, Bury; left hand side as you head towards town centre. You’d pass the ‘Over Sixty Club’ and the Napier pub - it was somewhere around there, just before the snooker rooms. I was once there with my best pal - a Saturday afternoon - both of us ten-years-old - peering through the dirty window at the fascinating objects for sale.
Everything was piled in without any intention of creating a display; the proprietor just heaped the items wherever there was a gap. We jumped up at down, pointing, gasping with excitement at the wonderful things. Ancient weapons sprawled like dead fish, long barrelled rifles, Jacobean flint-lock blunderbusses, aristocratic duelling pistols in wooden boxes, bayonets and pikes, oily looking revolvers, sabres with engraved blades, dented bugles on tasseled ropes, truncheons, a three cornered French hat, threadbare regimental flags, a ladies Derringer single shot pistol with mother-of-pearl grips, a gentleman’s walking stick with a brass slit concealing a spring loaded blade - all in one glorious, mad tangle, with a gloomy background (the lighting was so dim you couldn’t tell if the shop was open or closed) of military uniforms sagging on hangers, top hats, belts and cumberbunds, decanters with cracked glass stoppers, chipped cruets, pocket watches and chains, copper bed warmers, ancient chairs with powdery upholstery spilling out, massive wardrobes with mirrored doors, stone bottles and a terrifying collection of surgical instruments.
On that occasion we cranked up sufficient courage to enter the shop.
Tinkling door bell: proprietor appears.
‘What do you want?’
‘Can we look round?’
‘No’.
‘How much is that .45 pistol in the window?’
‘Hop it’.
‘I’ve got money’.
‘Get out, now.’
And that was it. We stood outside for a while and then mooched up towards the town centre. We went into the tiny temperance bar and bought 3d of peppermint snuff and pushed it up our noses - laughing and sneezing all the way to the Regal cinema.

Gifts For Every Occasion
There are many occasions throughout the year where it is necessary to give gifts. However, choosing the perfect gift can be difficult. In this blog post, we will explore nine different gift ideas that are suitable for all occasions.
The key to finding the best gift is paying attention to your loved ones. Listen to what they say and watch what they do.
Birthdays
Whether you’re looking for a thoughtful gift to give to friends, family or co-workers, birthday Gifts for occasion are always appreciated. For the foodie in your life, consider a delicious fruit arrangement or chocolate covered treats that will make them feel like royalty on their special day.
A subscription box is another thoughtful birthday gift idea. With a variety of subscription boxes like FabFitFun, your recipient can try new products and discover their favorites.
Anniversaries
An anniversary is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your commitment. Gifts are not just for marriages and romantic relationships; they can be used to show how much you care for any employee celebrating an anniversary at your organization.
The traditional and modern anniversary gift lists, which dictate a theme by year, are a great guide to help you pick the perfect present. For example, the 35th anniversary is celebrated with gold, which symbolizes wealth and wisdom.
A more modern gift might be a copper item like this copper mug set and cocktail infusion jar.
Weddings
Traditionally, weddings involved an exchange of gifts between the bride’s and groom’s families. Often, the gift list would include items like kitchen tools and dining sets for the newlyweds to start their married lives together.
For an extra-special wedding present, consider something personalized for the couple. This handmade decanter features a mountain that rises from the inside, making it perfect for a pair who loves outdoor adventures.
Another great option is this customizable doormat that shows off their new last name in style. It’s sure to become a favorite home accessory for years to come.
Housewarmings
A new home requires a few essentials to get it up and running. For those celebrating a friend’s move, a thoughtful gift will make them feel welcome in their new space.
A monogrammed item—like a picture frame, hand towels or a mug—is a cute and functional choice. Other personalized gifts that go the extra mile include a stateshaped wooden cheese board or a cocktail kit that includes a bottle of spirits, fresh limes and ice to create two cocktails on demand.
Strategist editors suggest steering clear of including a link to your painstakingly curated registry on housewarming invitations, says Los Angeles-based etiquette consultant Elaine Swann. It’s a little forward and puts the onus on guests to buy a present, she adds.
Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is a special time to show appreciation for mom and mother figures. It is celebrated around the world with different traditions and customs. In the United States, it is a national holiday observed on the second Sunday in May.
It was initiated by Anna Jarvis in 1908 to honor her own mother. While she later regretted the commercialization of the celebration, millions of people now honor their mothers and celebrate the occasion with gifts, cards, and flowers.
Treating your mom to a relaxing spa treatment is another way of showing her how much you care. You can also make a thoughtful gift basket for her.
Father’s Day
Father’s Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in June and is a holiday for male parent figures. It complements celebrations of other family members, such as Mother’s Day, Siblings Day and Grandparents Day.
Children often handcraft Gifts for occasion Liverpool and write messages in cards for their fathers. As with Mother’s Day, families often have dinner together and it is one of the busiest days for restaurants.
Give your dad an experience he will remember forever. Take him on a weekend road trip or slip him tickets to his favorite event.
Sympathy
Sympathy is a feeling of understanding and caring for someone else’s misfortune. It can also be a feeling of pity for someone. Sympathy is not the same as empathy, however.
Empathy involves vicariously experiencing another person’s emotions and thoughts. It requires creativity to do so and it can be difficult for some people.
For example, if your co-worker confides in you that they are struggling to keep up with their work, you can show them sympathy by saying “I’m sorry to hear that.” You can also demonstrate compassion by offering to help them run errands or drive them to their appointments.

Oh daddy please tell me how you’d breed my boy hole. Tell me how beautiful I look, heavy and pregnant with your baby that you put in my womb~ how pretty I look waddling around the house. I used to be such a powerful mercenary, skilled with a sword, reduced to being a mindless, breeding slut for you
TW: dubcon, drugs, magical coercion
I was a sorcerer, someone that your kind always looked down on as weak and 'squishy'. You were a big, strapping mercenary, one of the best of your guild, and entirely unimpressed by me, my tower, and the mundane duties I assigned you to after you accepted my contract.
But you greedily took my coin over the first few weeks anyway, didn't you? Just as greedily as you gulped down my wine when you thought I wasn't looking?
It wasn't my fault that you were too stupid to realize the difference between a decanter and a potion bottle, that you drank up the elixir I'd painstakingly crafted to help a client breed his reluctant spouse. Sure, it wasn't very prudent of me to place them both on the same table, but I certainly didn't force it down your throat.
I didn't realize what you'd done until I came into the room afterward and found you slumped to the floor, one hand furiously stroking your dick while the other plunged the glass bottle stopper in and out of your greedy hole. You barely even noticed me, so caught up in trying to get off that everything around had you disappeared.
The problem was, the effects of the elixir couldn't be eased by your own hand. But you didn't know that.
So I sat down to watch you dissolve into a whimpering puddle of lust. The minutes passed as you grew more frantic, the heat building within you leaving you growing more and more desperate until you were practically sobbing with the need to come. A big, strong man, becoming a complete slave to his desires.
I probably left you there longer than was prudent, especially since the elixir turned out to be a bit stronger than I'd have intended, but that's what you got for being a thief. My delayed reaction broke something in you that day, for by the time I took pity on you and fucked you like a peasant right in the middle of my drawing room rug, that haughty gleam in your eye had entirely vanished. No more were you the pride of the Fighter's Guild, but a hopeless cockslut.
So yes, I took my recompense from your elixir-drunk body. Yes, I spilled my seed into your well-fucked hole. And when I realized that the effects of the elixir weren't fading and that you'd been reduced to a docile, desire-addled fuckdoll, I didn't bother stopping.
That's why you're still in my tower almost eight months later, your guild contract canceled, your sword and armor stashed in some closet, and your belly massively swollen with my offspring. You waddle after me like a puppy, always eager to spread your legs when the mood strikes, and it strikes often. No longer am I 'that annoying sorcerer'; now you call me 'Daddy' like a two-copper trollop.
You've become such a pretty thing. So much more beautiful and tolerable to be around than the man who'd shown up at my doorstep all those months ago. All of the harsh lines of your form have softened with your pregnancy, your body clad in a few gauzy silks that leave little to the imagination, solely for my own pleasure.
I never expected to want a pet, but the sight of you so heavy with my child has changed something in me, too. I'm going to keep my little mercenary's womb nice and full from here on out, and I know you won't have any complaints.

Shadows- Chapter One
*not my gif*
Shadows
A modern monster AU Pairings: Din Djarin x fem!reader Rating: T (at the moment- subject to change) Warnings: dark themes, canon typical violence, reference to human trafficking, description of blood (brief), mentions of drugs and alcohol, swearing Summary: Crypto- concealed; secret. You have always lived your life in the shadows; after all, you’re one of the creatures who go bump in the night. He has sworn his life to a creed that aims to protect the world from monsters like you.
[Masterlist] [Chapter One] [Chapter Two] Cross-posted to AO3
A/N: I told ya’ll I have no self control, so here’s ya go, have some enemies to lovers AU with some kinda mixed up timeline (there's some characters that don’t exist in the Mandalorian timeline).
Chapter One
Blood for coin.
One of the oldest transactions known to mankind.
And crypto-kind.
It paid your bills. And your family’s bills. So, you tried to not let it get to you, to not let some of the things you did get under your skin. There’s too much riding on what you do to back out; no matter how much you would rather be curled up under a blanket, couch scattered with snacks, bingeing some new mindless tv show, than here.
The bar is too packed for a Wednesday night. Had you been blessed with a more carefree personality you might have enjoyed the atmosphere, with a bottle or two clouding your system. Completely sober to the world the activities masked behind pounding music and strobe lights did not hold any appeal. Copper and iron tinted the air, pheromones were running rampant and other mind-numbing treats were being less than subtly exchanged.
“What’s your poison tonight, sweet-gills?”
You scoff, regarding the bartender through half-lidded eyes as you draw your dagger from a boot and slide it across the counter. “Zachriel.”
The man raises a bushy eyebrow in response.
“He’ll know who I am when you give him that.”
He shrugs and takes the pearl-handled dagger. You were not the only one who came looking for his boss.
Before he left the bartender flashed you a smile of pointed teeth and poured you a glass of something strong. Halfheartedly you swirl the glass in one hand as you watch the mass of bodies blur together on the dance floor. Neutral ground clubs were truly a different world, one where the shadows of the world melted back into their old ways-the ways labeled sinful or unnatural by humans. Not that some of the old ways weren’t wrong. Many of the too grotesque and unsightly ways took place out of sight of other patrons- Zachriel made sure of that. As long as the living left alive and the dead remained dead then it was fair game. The shadows took advantage of that and chose to live their pleasures out here.
One such woman approached as your gaze wanders aimlessly, hips swaying and eyes glazed over she makes it no secret what she wants. You do not speak a word of acknowledgment as the woman closes the gap between your bodies. A hand slides over your hip, tugging less than subtly at the waistband of your jeans. She smells of juniper berries and cigarette smoke.
“Ma’am.”
The shark-toothed bartender returns, glaring slightly at the woman still hovering at your side.
“You’re welcome to head up now.”
“Thanks.” You leave the untouched drink and disappointed looking woman behind to fight through the crowd towards the stairs tucked away at the back of the establishment. You tap the “employees only” sign above the stairwell as you pass.
You are familiar with the maze upstairs. After all this time you could locate Zachriel’s suite blindfolded. Not bothering to knock, you’re not surprised to find it has been redecorated, again, since he had last called you here. Empty glasses litter the end tables by his settee, their owners presumably the young man and woman snuggled up to Zachriel’s sides. The smell of human permeates the space, seeming to originate with the glassy eyed man, much to your displeasure.
“Ah (Y/N), welcome darling,” Zachriel’s baritone voice cuts through the smoky air. “Have a seat and we can get right down to it.”
Wordlessly you slide into the armchair across from the bar’s owner. Neither or his guests pay you any attention, simply continuing to clutch onto their host, lavishing his exposed neck and shoulders with sloppy kisses. Both were presumably beyond drunk and only awake because of the stimulate Zachriel had burning in the loft.
“You’re looking lovely as ever, darling, but judging by that twinkle in your eye you aren’t just here for my company.”
The way Zachriel could read you no longer comes as a surprise, but that does not mean you have to like it. “Seven months apart and it seems you can still read me like an open book.”
“Oh, don’t sound so sour about that, darling. It makes our business easier, doesn’t it?”
Business it was, and Zachriel’s fares had been on the rise. You were either going to have to find a new informant or start getting the friends and family discount here.
“Then let’s get to it, I don’t have all night,” you kick your combat boots up onto his polished coffee table, both of Zachriel’s playthings jump, turning to you with wide eyes.
“Ha, not quite as dainty as your scaled sisters, you must hate stereotypes, darling,” Zachriel chuckles as he pours himself another drink. “What would you like to know tonight? It must be something big if you’re coming to me all the way out here on.”
“I need a location and names for Samson’s trafficking ring.”
The decanter comes down with such force you’re surprised it does not shatter. The playthings jump again, both putting a miniscule amount of space between them and the demon in human skin.
“(Y/N), have you been partaking in the festivities downstairs, because normally you’d know better than to ask me such a stupid question as that.”
“You know for a fact that I don’t. I am asking you in all seriousness where Samson is running these days,” you cross your arms, staring down your nose at Zachriel as he screws up his face.
“Get out!” He shoves his guests away and they quickly obey. The door slams shut behind them as Zachriel’s eyes begin to shift between his green façade and their natural coal-colored irises.
Feet planted on the floor, you lean forward, elbows on your knees, “no need to get so worked up. It is an easy question. You know the answer, or you don’t.”
Zachriel sneers, “I don’t.”
“Try again.”
“I’m still suffering losses from your last bust! I shouldn’t even let you step foot in here anymore!”
“You mean the bust that saved 25 teenage girls? I think that’s worth more than your profit margins.”
“Says you!” He snarls back, jaw clenched and face going red.
“Oh calm down and just think of the cut I’ll give you from Samson’s bounty once we take him down.”
A glass sails by your head in warning. If he wanted to hit you he would have.
“Get out!”
As the words leave the demons lip the door slams in, the doorframe splintering. You’re on your feet and reaching for your blade before you can even lay eyes on who’s kicked the door in. Fingers grasping the hilt of your sword dispels the enchantment, revealing the weapon strapped to your back. As you evaluate the man in the doorway, you’re not sure how useful it will be- he’s armed with a pistol, holding it in a stance the screams soldier.
Sword drawn, you stare down the man and he does the same, his dark eyes flickering up and down your form. He’s got a few years on you, you’d guess, but he’s well built, and sporting a bullet proof tac-vest under his black long sleeve judging by the shape it gives his torso. He is otherwise well prepared for whatever he came to Zachriel for; there’s an extra gun and ammo strapped to one leg, a blade and a stake strapped to the other. You briefly wonder how he got this far into the bar so armed without getting caught.
Indignant, Zachriel glares down the dark-haired intruder, “who the fuck do you think-”
You kick his settee over as the intruder fires. Zachriel tumbles to the floor as you jump to put yourself between the two men. As much as you and Zachriel had your differences, you were not about to let your informant get murdered in front of you.
“Go.” You don’t turn to look at him but hope the demon decides to cooperate for once.
Best guess, the man was after Zachriel, the way his gaze lingers on the demon as he scrambles to his feet behind you. Did not mean he wouldn’t shoot you to get to Zachriel though.
“I’d ask you not to shoot but I take it you’re not the type to listen to reason.”
The man scoffs, the thin mustache on his lip quirking with the sound. “It’s not like you monsters have reason to begin with.”
A hunter.
You spit a curse under your breath. Everyone in the building was in danger with him around.
“Stand down and I’ll make it quick and painless for you.” His voice is rough and dark even without the threat.
“Oh hell no.”
Your lunge manages to catch him by surprise, striking at his right shoulder. He recovers quick, managing to dodge before your blade can sink too deep. Grunting he aims a shot for your torso but you’re quick too, rolling out if the way and ducking behind the overturned settee. Reaching for your boot you launch your dagger over your cover. The thunk of metal on wood is enough to know you missed your blind shot.
“Fuck!”
With an almost comical puff of smoke Zachriel disappears, leaving only a dusting of soot on the floor where he had stood. Lucky demons and their dark magics, always had a quick escape. Now you just needed a way out.
A bullet flies over the lip of the couch as the hunter’s heavy footfalls approach. Rolling onto your back, you shove your boots against the overturned seat, pushing it right into the path of the hunter. He swears again, clattering to the floor. Jumping up you throw the end tables towards him, glass shattering around you both as the tumblers fly across the room. You dart for the door and thank whoever’s out there for industrial design and exposed pipes. Shoving your sword into the pipe above the doorframe with all your strength manages your desired effect. Water starts to pour from the hole into the already trashed room. Stepping out the busted door you mutter a few old words under your breath and with a flick of your wrist the liquid covers the doorway and freezes solid. A door of ice to keep in the hunter, just in time. He rushes towards you, fist slamming against the ice.
A sigh of relief escapes you as the magic holds. He glares at you through the ice, dark eyes burning with a hate you have not seen in a long while. There’s blood smeared across his face and neck, creating a terrifying image as he snarls at you. His shoulder is bleeding pretty heavily where you nicked him, but it doesn’t look too deep; he would live, and his shoulder would heal fine. Good.
His shirt is torn down to his forearm revealing a myriad of tattoos painted across skin, one in the shape of a horned skull just below his shoulder. Solid and black. So painfully obvious.
Fuck.
“I have no desire to kill you. So just stay here for a bit while I get the hell out of dodge and then we’ll be good to go.”
You wave at him as you dash away, ignoring his shouts trailing behind you. Sliding your sword back into its scabbard, the blade disappears again by the time you reach the bottom of the stairs. The bartender spots you long before you reach the counter. You must look a mess now.
“Hunter. Zachriel’s suite. Gotta go.”
Lips set into a thin line the man nods, swift to wave over the security lingering around the edges of the room.
Then you’re gone, weaving through the crowd to disappear out a fire exit and into the city streets.
At least Zachriel owes you now.
.
“Boba Fett was the last Mandalorian we had in these parts; are sure this hunter was one of them?”
Rolling your eyes, you grimace at the aging man, “well I didn’t think to ask him while he was trying to kill us, Boss. But he had the tattoo, plain as day. Black mythosaur skull, right shoulder.”
“Boba Fett used to hunt around here?” Kanan’s dark-haired apprentice is filled with awe, missing the important point at hand.
“Ezra-” Kanan goes to chide him for interrupting but Boss cuts him off.
“Fett was the only Mandalorian we’d ever dealt with in these parts before he died five years ago,” Boss explains. “We’ve only seen some lone wanderers since. None of which have been much cause for concern.”
He thinks you’re overreacting.
“This one seemed pretty serious.”
“(Y/N) had a point.” At least Kanan agreed with you.
Boss sits for a moment, wrinkled hand stroking his wiry white beard. Murmurs ripple through the small crowd that they’d gathered in the office. Mandalorians were not to be taken lightly. They were better equipped and considerably more organized than any usual human hunter. Many slayers had fallen to their kind as well. Even one Mandalorian hunter running around the city could spell the death of hundreds of cryptos. The issue was they rarely operated alone. They were the communal type. One Mandalorian could mean a whole covert more of them nearby.
“We’ll release a bulletin with a description of the Mandalorian. Any other sightings or run-ins will need to be reported and compared to the initial description to confirm there is only one in the area.”
Well at least he was doing something. Now everyone in the area would be walking around with bated breath until they knew exactly what they were dealing with.
“Dismissed.”
The group disperses, considerably more solemn than when they’d been gathered.
“What was the Mandalorian like?” Ezra looks to you with the same wide-eyed enthusiasm you imagine you once held for the job.
Kanan rolls his eyes but doesn’t stop the teenager. He understands the curiosity in the apprentice slayer.
“Angry?” You offer.
Not quite the answer the boy wanted. “Was he as tough as the rumors say?”
“Ah- it wasn’t much of a fight, Ezra. I was just trying to get out without any issues.”
The boy’s face falls. He was still so new to all this, high off the pride of being strong enough to protect others no matter how strong your foe. You could imagine he wanted to see the Mandalorians as this tough advisory that one day he would be strong enough to beat without breaking a sweat.
“Ezra, you have to remember. Mandalorians are humans so we cannot put ourselves in their paths. And we absolutely cannot harm or kill them without good reason.”
Meaning the only choice was their life or yours.
He sighs at Kanan, “I remember.”
It was the, often fatal, disadvantage you faced. You were sworn to protect humans from your own kind, to the point that you were not allowed to harm the humans out to kill you.
.
Karga looked rather smug when Din returned to see him the following morning. Not a look Din enjoyed being on receiving end of.
“Well looks like you had quite the night.”
Din rolls his eyes and slides into the seat across from the barkeep as he works through his books. Most of Din’s injuries had been minor, cuts from the broken glass around the room, sore back (though that wasn’t news these days), and a bruise blossoming across his jaw from the table the woman had thrown at his face. His shoulder had been the worst of it, and he had managed to get away without proper stiches, just butterflied it up on his own. It still ached a bit under the bandages, but Din had dealt with far worse.
“I can take your sour mood as you didn’t catch what you wanted?”
“Managed to get away,” Din grunts.
“Well, the information did say that the owner is rather crafty. I thought you would have been prepared for that.”
The frown on Din’s face deepens. “It wasn’t the owner. There was a woman with him, managed to keep me busy so he could escape.”
Karga looks surprised, “a woman? Security maybe?”
“No,” Din shakes his head, “it sounded like she was there to do business with him, but she didn’t hesitate to put herself between him and me.”
“Strange. I hadn’t heard of any women he was doing business with. I can poke around, see if I can’t find out who she is.”
“That could be helpful, thanks.”
Karga chuckles, “don’t thank me yet. Questions around here tend to lead to more questions than answers.”

WonderGlo Essential Serum Regardless of any other measures you take to improve your skin, you need to stay hydrated. Water flushes out harmful impurities from within your body. This cleansing process increases the luminosity of your complexion. No matter what type of skin you've got, always cleanse your face daily with a gentle product, two times if necessary. No matter what you do, take off all your makeup before you clean your skin. If you do not remove all the makeup first, your pores can clog, causing breakouts. You can let your lips look larger with an application of shimmery white eyeshadow right above your top lip's center cupid's bow. The illusion of fuller lip is the result of the reflection of the light that this highlighting provides. If you want skin that looks vibrant and fresh, carry moisturizer around at all times. This is necessary, especially in the winter, when the air is dry and skin cracks and breaks; that is not so attractive! If you keep your skin moisturized you will stay away from dry skin and any cracks. Before applying mascara, use an eyelash curler to curl your eyelashes. Curling up your eyelashes will help them appear longer and will make your eyes appear brighter and more vibrant. Just apply the curler to the base of the lashes and squeeze. The next step is to move the curler further away from the base of your lashes and repeat the process. This should result in a pleasing and natural looking curve. Moisturize ahead of makeup application. Moisturizers condition your skin and help protect it, but they are also helpful in getting makeup to spread evenly. It will increase your skin tone. Your makeup will last for much longer, and your face will appear fresher. If you are stepping out for the night, freshen up by using a big brush to powder the greasy areas of your face. Make sure that you take care of your cheeks, as this is where a lot of oil will fester. When you blend a moisturizer with your foundation, it will apply smoother and will last longer too. This will help your skin to glow and add some SPF as well. You can use your hair to thin out the look of your face. A cut that is long and sleek can do the trick. Bangs and highlights can also do wonders. This brings eyes to your best feature, your face! WonderGlo Essential Serum In order to have fresh and flawless skin, always drink lots of water. Allowing your skin to become dehydrated will cause fine lines to appear and will leave your skin looking dull. Drink the recommended amount of water every day to keep this from happening to you. If the bland taste of water does not suit you, consider giving it some flavor with a lemon slice or dab of cranberry juice. Your skin will thank you for it. Instead of purchasing an expensive facial moisturizer, considering using coconut oil. Not only does virgin coconut oil give skin deep, soothing moisturizing, it also works to minimize wrinkles and fine lines. In addition, it works to alleviate the symptoms of acne, eczema and psoriasis because it features many organic medicinal qualities. It is important to keep all of your makeup pencils sharp. By keeping them sharpened, they will be clean and ready to use. Put the liner in the freezer for ten minutes, then sharpen it. Eat healthy food for better hair, skin, and nails. Beautiful skin is most common for those who are healthy throughout. Varied nutrients are a vital part of any healthy diet. Make sure each meal is full of whole grain food and substances that contain the needed amounts of zinc, protein, and iron for your health and appearance. If your eyes are blue or gray, bring these colors out with eye shadows colored gold, copper or apricot. When using eyeliner or mascara, you should look for deep brows with highlights of purple or red. These shades help your blue eyes stand out.
Does the paint on your nails chip shortly after painting them? A top coat can help to prevent this issue, so it is a great short term solution. Although it might seem similar to clear nail polish, it is different, so don't confuse the two products. Get the top coat, not the clear nail polish. Drink an adequate amount of fluid each day for fresh, flawless skin. Skin suffers when dehydrated and looks dry, dull and wrinkly. Drink around eight, eight ounce glasses of H2O every single day. Try putting some lemon or juice in the water for a better taste. Your skin will thank you for it. Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Beauty is everywhere. Perhaps you think the trees that line your street, or the significant person in your life, possesses beauty. Your heart will be happy if you search for beauty. Those who find beauty in many things tend to be most successful. To maintain, fresh, sparkling skin, make sure you always have moisturizer on hand. During the winter, your skin can become dry and brittle and a moisturizer will counter this. Regularly applying moisturizer will keep your skin soft and looking great. If you eyes are red, no amount of eyeshadow or eyeliner can hide that, even if they give you striking eyes full of sexiness. Keep a small bottle of eye drops or saline solution in your handbag. You can apply them for a quick re-wetting and refresh when your eyes get tired and red from spending too much time out in the sun or staring the computer. Drink fruit juice more often. Your skin will thank you for it. The nutrients in fruits and vegetables are great for your skin, along with the rest of your body. Drinking vegetable or fruit juice is an easy way to add them into your regular eating schedule. By eliminating your typical sweet drinks and replacing them with this juice, you'll notice glowing skin almost immediately. If you have a square-shaped face, use a coral or creamy rose blush to soften the angular appearance. Use your fingers to apply the cream to your cheeks. Next, use a gentle, pulling motion to blend the color up towards your temples. Baking soda can actually restore shine and luster to tired and dull hair! Place a tiny quantity of baking soda in your palm and mix it thoroughly with the shampoo you'll be using. Then cleanse your tresses normally. Doing so will help restore your hair's natural shine and luster. Never go to bed without first removing all of your makeup. You can use a make-up remover or a washcloth of warm water. After that, simply cleanse your face as you normally would. Make-up that isn't removed in the right way can clog up your pores and acne may spring up. Always get rid of old makeup before laying down at night. Use a solution that is geared to expel all of the makeup from your face. After that, simply cleanse your face as you normally would. If you don't properly remove your make-up, your pores can get clogged and acne can pop up. Curry leaf chutney is a great product to consume if you want to reduce gray hair. It contains essential nutrients for hair health and will help retain pigmentation in your hair. You can also add to your hair some rosemary essential oil, which can also preserve your hair color and promote healthier scalp and hair. If your face is especially square shaped, you can soften the overall appearance and make it appear less angular by using a creamy rose or coral blush. Use the blush on your cheeks, applying it with your fingers. Then fan it out toward your temples in a soft, tugging motion. Eating healthy will promote the health of your entire body, including your hair, skin and nails. This adds credence to the phrase "beauty comes from within". Make sure your diet contains a variety of nutrients. Make sure each meal is full of whole grain food and substances that contain the needed amounts of zinc, protein, and iron for your health and appearance. Do away with red eyes to let your pretty peepers shine. Keep your purse stocked with eye drops. You can use these drops anytime your eyes feel a little dry and tired, due to environmental factors or lack of sleep. To keep your skin looking its best, keep moisturizer with you at all times. Especially in the winter, skin can crack. That is not considered very attractive. Regularly applying moisturizer will keep your skin soft and looking great. Create an alcohol free, all natural mouthwash by mixing peppermint oil with purified water. Use a drop of oil per each ounce of water. To start, bring the water to a boil. Measure out the peppermint oil into a ceramic or glass container. It is important to add the boiling water next. Using a clean cloth, such as a handkerchief, cover the container, then allow it to cool. Decant into a bottle with a tightly fitting lid. Now you have mouthwash! Use a tiny bit of teabag to fix your torn nails. The first thing you should do is empty the teabag. Then cut off a little piece as big as the tear. Carefully put the piece of teabag over the damage and seal it on firmly with a coat of clear nail polish, or the color of your current manicure.
WonderGlo Essential Serum When you have gray or blue eyes, oranges and browns are your best choice for eyeshadow. Try using mascara that is purple, dark brown, red, or maroon if you want to bring out blue eyes. These shades help your blue eyes stand out. Pimples and other acne can really affect our skin and beauty. If you are an unfortunate victim of this, try putting some toothpaste on the site. After applying the toothpaste, let it sit there for around 10 minutes. You'll find the pimple has both dried out and become less red in appearance. If you have a problem with your hair frizzing, try a boar bristle brush. A surprising number of people have issues with their hair becoming frizzy. A good boar bristle brush will help to reduce frizz as your hair dries. While holding the dryer, be sure to aim in a downward direction and run the brush through your hair.

~Of Maintenance~
Written and submitted by @ask-flip-frost. (Publisher’s notes can be found at the end of the work.) Words: 3,900
Edit: now with Part 2: Physical Therapy
—
“Dean,” The whisper paired itself with a soft swat to the elder Winchester’s left shoulder. “C’mon, just go lay in your bed or you’ll be stiff all day tomorrow. We’ve got to be out the door in four hours if we’re gonna make it to Jody’s on time for the barbecue. You know how she gets if we’re late.”
With a non-committal grunt, Dean blindly reached out for the last swallow of beer and backwash occupying a bottle next to his armchair. Sam was right, of course, but there was no reason to be quick about trudging from one sleeping spot to the next. Over the last few weeks, the hunters had definitely earned a half decent rest.
One grimacing chug later, Dean finally managed to coerce his body into curling up into a proper sit. Off-brand beer was even more of a sin when it was warm. Pitiful stuff. He pressed his calloused palms to his eyes and rubbed vigorously with a loud inhale through the nose.
“Okay. I’m grabbin’ a nightcap, then I’ll go. Satisfied mom?” he groused.
“Just don’t overdo it.” Sam returned.
“Yeah, yeah…” Dean mumbled, lifting one of the bunker’s antique decanters to the lip of a possibly clean glass. “No, hold on. Wait. Sam, c’mere a second. You seein’ this?”
At first, it wasn’t obvious. A trick of the light, or sleep addled eyes could have easily allowed the Winchesters to dismiss the peculiar shadow, but living on high alert such as they did made them question everything. One by one, they removed items from the side table: the crystal whiskey container, the glass, the empty beer bottle, two dusty lore books… As far as they could tell, there was nothing left to block the yellowed light and cast a small, malformed shadow like that. Sam patted a hand flat on the table top, but felt nothing. The action seemed to stir the object, however. It puffed itself to one side, then drifted to lay mostly flat once more. To confirm his suspicions, he blew softly on the surface and watched as the shadow shivered in place until it fluttered up enough to show the easily identifiable shape of a feather.
“Whoa…” he breathed.
“What do you think? One of Cas’? It’s gotta be, right?” Dean squinted, slowly moving from light source to light source in hopes of seeing more. “Sam, they’re everywhere. Do angels shed?”
“I think it would be molting, but I dunno. Maybe? I’ve never seen it before. I mean, they’d be good for spells, so I don’t want to waste them, but we really ought to ask just in case there’s something wrong with them. Since he’s just gotten back to angel status, they might be… tainted?” Sam frowned.
Honestly, neither of them wanted to have that conversation. Both brothers were acutely aware of how difficult of a time Cas was having at the moment. For months, he’d been barely clinging to life on the stolen grace powering his body. Even now with his own essence back, he still seemed like he was dragging on empty in search of the next Gas N Sip. Truthfully, this could have been the effects of his self-loathing. There was really no way to tell. Shed feathers? This was stupid. It could wait.
“Burned,” Castiel announced quietly from behind Sam.
“Dammit, Cas!” Dean pressed a hand to his heart. “Little warning?!”
“We uh, didn’t know you were here. Sorry.” Sam winced.
“I gathered that.” Cas droned, staring steadfastly at the litter of his own making. “They won’t be of much use to you in this state. I apologize for the mess. I didn’t realize how many I was losing.”
Dean pulled an exaggerated shrug and swiped a dismissive hand as if to say that it wasn’t a big deal. They were bachelors. Manly men with disorganized… manly… manly… uh. Maybe playing it off was a poor decision. Castiel wasn’t looking up from the floor, so Dean chose to squat down squarely into his field of vision.
“Look… Cas… we know you haven’t exactly been running on all cylinders lately. I know you probably don’t wanna talk about it, but you’ve gotta level with us: how bad are you hurting right now?”
For a long moment, it seemed that Castiel was intent wholeheartedly on avoiding an answer. Melancholy blue eyes met earnest green.
“I can handle it.” Cas replied finally.
“That’s not what I asked.” Dean asserted. “We know you can handle it. Doesn’t make you a baby to admit something hurts. If there’s something we can do to help, let us try. We owe you that much.”
Hypocrisy ran as thickly as blood through the veins of Dean Winchester, but he’d be damned if he wasn’t going to push when it was needed for other people to reassess their self-care practices.
“We can’t see them. Anything you tell us, we’re going to have to believe, Cas.” Sam added, hoping that a gentle request of trust would be accepted rather than abused.
Per usual, the rolodex of Castiel’s mind began to flicker back and forth as he searched for the proper way to convey exactly what was going on in his head, leaving his face on the organic equivalent of a loading screen. On the one hand, these humans had suffered more worries than any person should have to endure. On the other, if it alleviated their consciences even a little, perhaps the battered soldier would be willing to meet them halfway. Just this once. He felt that he deserved this pain; this atonement. But for them, he would be willing to put on the guise of allowing relief, if only for a little while.
“I’ll… look for something in the library to lay out what they currently look like. For the time being, sleep. If you can promise to rest, I will promise to let you assist me.” Castiel relented, feeling his shoulders slacken in defeat.
“Deal!” Dean slapped a hand to his knee. “We’ll see you in the morning.”
Jody threw a barbecue every month. It wouldn’t kill them to miss one. She might threaten to kill them, sure, but Dean was certain that if they all worked their puppy dog eyes at once, at least one of them might be spared. Probably. He’d delegate coming up with an excuse off to Sam in the morning. Maybe she’d buy that he sprained his hair. Seemed feasible.
When the quiet snap of closed doors indicated the brothers retiring to their rooms, Castiel dolefully began to move through the musty bookcases of the bunker’s library. The Men of Letters kept extensive research on all manner of creatures, but the tomes held precious little on angelic lore. All Castiel was looking for was something close to being anatomically correct. While it pained him to look at the stack of avian biology books he’d collected by the end of the night, he had to admit that it was as close to reality as he was going to get with these particular resources.
–
“MORNIN’, SUNSHINE!” Dean crowed when Cas finally trudged into the kitchen.
Sam gave a sleepy wave from the coffee machine by way of a more subdued greeting. As far as beginnings went, at least they didn’t seem to be pitying the trench-coated fellow, and that was enough to set his nerves at least fractionally at ease.
The next hour or so was spent flipping through books and explaining the makeup of angelic wings. They discussed feather growth issues, various skin traumas, and the limited maintenance Cas had been able to do without further injuring himself.
“The damage runs deep. All of my oil glands ware cauterized shut, so I’m not able to express natural lubricants to preen. This means that my skin has remained charred and chapped. New feathers have been budding in sparse patches, but I haven’t been able to expend the energy to help them along. The muscles are strained. It takes more effort than I would like to admit just to keep them from dragging on the ground.” Cas confessed. “In Heaven, if my battalion happened to be convalescing after demonic battles, there were thermae available to us with great basins of holy oil where we could soak off the injuries from hellfire or other various maladies.”
“Thermae? Like a bath house?” Sam paused in his note taking to see the angel’s affirmative nod.
“Wait, so you’re telling me that what Big Bird needs is a giant bird bath?” Dean grinned. “That’s hilarious.”
Cas glowered, hunching his shoulders defiantly.
“Ahem. Well. Cas. Holy oil is kinda tough to come by, but you know what? We’ll make it work.” Sam promised, doing his best to soothe his friend’s ego. “Might have to improvise a little, but we’ve got big tubs in the recovery room here in the bunker, and if you need a soak to help things along, we’ll handle it.”
At this, Castiel allowed the smallest of meek smiles to tug at one corner of his lips.
–
Dean would argue to his dying breath that he’d helped with gathering ingredients, but every moment he’d spent in the holistic spa supply shop felt like a steady drain on his testosterone levels. Castiel held no issue in picking through the various bath additives, be they floral or woody in nature, while Sam was mostly consumed in reading ingredients. If Dean didn’t know better, he could have sworn that his little brother had asked the clerk how to make a bath bomb at home. All the same, he did his best not to vocalize his grumblings on the ride home. Even if Baby smelled like Bath & Body Works threw up in the backseat. Repeatedly.
No matter how apprehensive he’d been to begin with, Castiel was actually beginning to look forward to a good soak. In much the same way that stargazing allowed him the illusion of feeling closer to home, he was fully intent on basking in the almost-memory that the tub was bound to stir within him.
“Okay. I’m estimating that these-“ Sam gestured to one of the deep copper tubs in the recovery room. “Ought to hold about a hundred and ten gallons of fluid. So. Y-well, it’s a lot. Normally you don’t mix oil and water, but we’re going to have to. I’ll get it started if you want to, uh… get ready.”
Cas furrowed his brow, squinting his confusion through a trademarked tilt of his head.
“I was just going to get in like this.” he rumbled, wondering what needed to be gotten ready.
“It’ll be hell getting oil stains out of all that, and I’m not adding a run to JC Penny’s for a new suit onto our already girly day.” Dean argued. “You can borrow some trunks.”
“DEAN’S trunks.” Sam added, holding out a hand to shush Dean’s fussing. “I didn’t get mine at yard sale.”
Welp. Dean couldn’t argue with that. And apparently neither could Cas. Every protest he made seemed to irk his human charges more, and there was no sense in making this more uncomfortable than it already was. After changing into the offered set of shark print swimming trunks, Castiel stood awkwardly against the washroom wall. He tentatively took in the relaxing scent of eucalyptus bath salts, various essential oils (mixed with the small amount of pure holy oil that could be spared), and something with notes of cedar billowing on the furls of fresh steam. It was pleasant.
“Would it work a little better if they were out in the open?” Dean asked plainly.
The angel shrank his shoulders back, and a very soft rustling noise could be heard over the running water. It sounded like someone crushing handfuls of dead leaves. Clearly, Cas did not want anyone looking at the mangled ignominy attached to his body.
“Look, Cas… buddy… you’ve seen me at my absolute worst. Sam, too. I know I’ve been taking shots at you all day, but you know I don’t mean it. Just trying to lighten the mood. You’ve been, uh… well, you’ve been really damn sad, Cas. I know it’s a big deal, but it’s not a big deal.” He held up a finger. “Don’t correct me. We’re not gonna make fun, alright? Scout’s honor.”
“You’re not a scout, Dean.” Cas protested.
“I was! I was a cub scout for like two weeks, and it counts!”
That seemed plausible. Not comforting, but plausible. Cas ducked his head in shame. He didn’t want to be seen. Not like this. Not broken and so thoroughly pitiful. Slowly, though, the near skeletal structure of his wings began to bloom out in hesitant jerks rising from his shoulder blades. Ashy grey skin stretched painfully over the muscles. Blisters, cracks, and flakes of peeling flesh took up most of the expanse of space. Some charred feathers were still clinging hard to their designated areas, while others were snapped and dangling freely. It was anyone’s guess why he actually revealed himself this way. Call it a gesture of faith, or a test of their bond, perhaps.
“See? Wasn’t so hard.” Dean nodded, clapping Cas on the shoulder, giving a sympathy wince when the angel pulled back a fraction at the contact. “Sorry. Uh. Yeah, so hop in!”
Sam quickly looked down and pretended to re-read the bath salt label until the smaller fellow had tentatively slipped into the medicinal tub. It wasn’t until Cas was properly occupied with shifting the extra limbs around him that the brothers mouthed a collective WOW at each other. The span of these things was impressive to say the least. They could only imagine how massive the wings would be at full fluff.
Even folded close to his body, Cas had a difficult time squeezing the wings all the way into the large tub. With a little rearranging it was manageable, though. With a final hissing sigh, he closed his eyes and laid back enough to tilt his head in a soft recline on the tub lip.
“Temperature okay?” Sam asked, trying to break any tension left in the room.
“It’s good.” Cas confirmed.
“Good. Good. So, uh. Wings, right? That’s a thing. How do we, ah… how do we help? I mean, you can’t reach em, right? Like trying to wash your own back?” Dean offered awkwardly.
“Just soaking will be sufficient to aid in the healing process.” Cas rolled his head from side to side on the back of the tub to decline.
“Well, maybe, but exfoliating a little couldn’t hurt. The eucalyptus has antibacterial properties, so that’ll help the smaller cuts, but we have ointments and everything. Couldn’t hurt, since your grace is still getting resettled.” Sam pressed. “You’ve fixed us up enough times.”
Though there was a grumbling noise bubbling deep in his throat, the angel did not directly say no. That was good enough. In Dean’s experience, not-no means yes. For now, his friend’s skin needed ample time to absorb the moisture. It didn’t look very pliable in the current state it was in. Seemed like a good time to go fix some lunch and figure out exactly what the hell they were going to use to exfoliate wings with.
Once the brothers had departed, Castiel took the opportunity to sink down to his neck, knees making little slicked islands on the water’s surface. He rolled the quill of a loose inky feather between his fingers. It was a shame that he’d never allowed extra Sight abilities to the Winchesters while his wings were at their mightiest. It wasn’t so much that he’d slipped them out from between planes as the brothers might have believed, but more that Castiel had reached out to touch their eyes with his grace to sharpen their senses enough to perceive them. If a little uncomfortable on his behalf, neither Sam nor Dean reacted in a way that would indicate repulsion. This wasn’t terrible. Between the oils and truly having a moment to think about proper healing, the skin was fast losing the stinging edge of being burned and wind-chapped.
“Look what I found.” Dean called in, poorly juggling three loofah sponges. “No wonder Sammy’s skin stays baby smooth!”
“Wouldn’t kill you to have a skin care routine by now, Dean.” Sam replied airily. “You’re not twenty anymore.”
Reluctantly, Castiel locked the elbow joints of his wings onto either side of the tub and pushed himself up into a sitting position. The left wrist nub scratched idly at his knee while he watched the loofahs being tipped into the tub to soften up. He tried not to notice the surprise on Sam and Dean’s faces. Humans tended to think of wings as fixtures rather than actual limbs.
“So, I was thinking,” Sam broke in. “I’ll get the back of the right wing, Dean takes the back of the left, and you can handle the fore-arm areas. Sound good?”
“Yes. If you would, though, be careful of the blood feathers.” Cas advised, lifting the right wing up to indicate some of the little new budding stalks. “They’re painful to touch at this stage. I’m not going to break if you hit them, obviously, but it would be unpleasant.”
It wouldn’t be too hard to spot them. Rather than blood, the little barbs were actually filled with an amount of low glowing grace.
“We’ll watch out for em.” Dean promised as he shed his flannel overshirt to keep from soaking it.
Oh, this should have been done ages ago. Gentle glides with rough sponges over Castiel’s skin sloughed away layers of irritating barb membranes and dead flesh. It was glorious, like having an itch scratched that you’ve been ignoring for far too long. He didn’t want it to stop. The angel didn’t even realize that he’d essentially been purring until he managed to catch a glimpse of Dean’s face in his peripherals. Apparently it was highly amusing. Fantastic. He cleared his throat and fought to reign in the temperature change of his face.
“That didn’t take too long. Just about got everything, I think. There’s a little in the joint here, but-“ Dean lightly scratched with a blunt forefinger nail at the shoulder crook of the wing he’d been working on, only to have it forcefully yanked away. “The hell, Cas? That hurt?”
Castiel swiveled to look over his shoulder in confusion, as if the wing had betrayed him in some way by moving against his will.
“No. That was strangely involuntary.” he shook his head, slowly arching the wing back into Dean’s hands.
Dean cocked an eyebrow and gave a dismissive head tilt. He’d have to be careful. If the limb had twitched a bit harder in a different direction he might have ended up feeling like a mule had clocked him in the face. That definitely would have soured his mood. But the offending patch of dead skin was still there, and the professional buff-and-shine detailer in him just couldn’t just let it go. That’d be like leaving scuff marks on a bumper. He figured that he simply needed to approach differently. Slowly now, he dragged two fingers past the spot again. This time the entire tub sloshed as Castiel jolted his body to the opposite side.
“DEAN.” he stated firmly. “That’s alarming. Please don’t do it.”
Eyes were alight with confusion, but Castiel’s scrunching nose and trailing smile suggested that at least the vessel itself knew what was going on. Along with everyone else in the room, it would seem. He looked from one Winchester to the other in want of an explanation.
“What?” he finally asked.
“Ticklish wing-pits, that’s what.” Dean beamed.
“Oh,” Cas frowned, connecting dots.
He knew what it was, though there had never been a sensation connected with the term it in his mind. It was certainly peculiar.
“It’s not a big deal. Most people are at least a little ticklish.” Sam assured him.
“Yeah, it’s nothing to get all jumpy about. Come on. Bring it back in so we can finish up.” Dean gestured insistently. “We’re almost done. You can take it. You’re a soldier, right?”
Cas tilted his face forward as if looking over the rims of invisible spectacles. Over the years he’d gotten at least minutely better at reading a room, so he could tell that plenty of subtext was writhing underneath the façade of aid, no matter how good of a poker face Dean was pulling. Subtle baiting with the soldier comment hadn’t gone unnoticed. Perhaps he could count on Sam to keep Dean’s big-brother instinct in check.
“Why do I get the feeling that you are advocating for something unpleasant?” he sighed, once more extending out his wings and facing away.
“Oh, don’t complain.” Dean scoffed theatrically.
The hunched shoulders and brooding huff he got in response was particularly funny.
Once again, fingers slipped under the wings. There was an immediate shudder. The muscles were clearly straining to cooperate and keep from snapping down against Castiel’s back. Only a few seconds went by before the angel’s whole torso was trembling in bottled laughter.
“Hey, Sammy, tighten up your side. There’s a ton of that shed membrane under there, too.” Dean chided, failing to keep the amusement out of his voice.
“Right, sorry.” Sam half-smiled, deciding that it wouldn’t hurt to play along for a minute or two. “I’ll get on that.”
Both sides being assaulted at once broke the dam of Castiel’s resolve. The muscles of his back twitched hard as either wing moved up and down, left and right in near desperate squirms to escape the torment without hurting anyone.
“You’re making this a little tough to do. Can you try holding still?” Sam asked innocently.
“I-I am incaPABLE!” Cas laughed, low melodic sounds rising in pitch when strong arms, one from each brother, looped out to better keep him in place.
“He’s a slippery son of a bitch,” Dean snorted.
It probably didn’t help that the grasping hands were definitely-not-on-purpose plucking at his ribs like harp strings, all under the guise that he was just too oil slicked to properly lock into a spot. All of the grace-filled feather buds were flickering wildly to the cadence of the angel’s laughter, much like Christmas tree lights.
“Wait, wa-hait, wait! Mer-“ Cas shook his head though persistent man giggles. “Mer-cy?!”
“Allllllmost done, tough guy.” Dean grinned, wishing that he spoke Enochian fluently enough to understand the pleas tumbling out. “Sorry, what was that?”
“I can’t!” Cas cackled, frothing the water with his struggles.
“You can’t translate?” Sam prompted.
Quite suddenly, the room went dark as an almighty angelic tone seared through the lightbulbs. Sam and Dean clamped down their hands over their ears and ducked for cover. Meanwhile Castiel sank back down weightlessly into the tub with his wings hanging limp over the sides.
“Am I sufficiently clean yet?” he croaked out.
Dean was the first to shake out a nervous chuckle and offer a hand out of the tub. Sam draped a beach length towel over the exhausted fellow’s shoulders when he’d managed to take a few unsteady steps out onto the floor.
“Yeah. Yeah, Cas. Looks way better now.” Dean assured him. “I mean, skin care at your age is a daily battle, though, so-“
“I’ll throw you right back into the pit, Dean.” Cas interrupted.
Honestly, he hadn’t hated it. That didn’t mean that these transgressions would soon be forgotten. Not remotely.

Publisher’s Notes: I am REALLY impressed with this and I ADORE it! I’m a sucker for wingfics that treat wings “as limbs rather than fixtures,” and ticklish wing-pits are THE BEST. Some of the turns of phrase here are absolutely delightful. The bits about grace-filled blood feathers (genius), Cas reading the subtext (hearteyes), banter and verbal jabs (on point) – I love it all. Kudos!

‘No’
‘How much is that .45 pistol in the window?’

An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away From Home
Apple has been one of the most controversial fruits in history. Today it is one of the most appreciated fruits, but also a very valuable food for all ages and an effective medicine in a wide range of ailments.
Apple fruits have a very complex content through high amounts of sugars (7-16%), organic acids, pectic substances (reduce cholesterol), polyvitamins (C, A, B1, B2, PP, pantothenic acid) and many mineral salts ( calcium, iron, potassium, phosphorus, silicon, magnesium, zinc, copper).
The amount of vitamins is double in the peel of the fruit compared to that in the pulp of the fruit. The energy value is 128 horsepower / 100 g of fruit. The fibers in the fruit are well tolerated and have a calming effect on intestinal transit, and the acidity of the sourer fruits stimulates the functions of the brain, liver, kidneys and intestines.
Therapeutic Properties :
- hepatic, digestive, stomachic, laxative, gastric and intestinal stimulants and decongestants;
- tonic on the nervous and muscular system;
- blood purifiers;
- hypocholesterolemic, diuretic, urolytic;
- antirheumatic, vitaminizing, refreshing.
Specific Actions
Apple is considered an exceptional natural medicine. Constant consumption of apples, through short or long-term cures, drastically reduces the risks of many diseases, with varying degrees of severity, including the risks of cancer.
A saying preserved in the popular conception says: "an apple a day keeps the doctor away from home".
Eating an apple in the morning purifies the breath, strengthens the gums and cleans the teeth, by removing the dental tartar.
An apple eaten after main meals has digestive and laxative effects and absorbs toxins and microorganisms from the intestines.
Also, an apple eaten in the evening has a relaxing effect on the nervous system, being a good sleeping pill.
Two apples a day helps strengthen the heart muscles, prevents myocardial infarction and removes excess water from the tissues through diuresis.
A systematization of multiple therapeutic actions reveals the great diversity of effects, direct and indirect, in preventing and combating various diseases.

From the Strategist: The Best Gifts for Beer Lovers, According to Brewers and Beer Writers
Photo: Tom Kelley Archive/Getty Images
Beer glasses, bottle openers, coolers, and more for your favorite beer drinker, from the Strategist
Finding the best gift for the beer lover in your life can be tricky, especially if you’re not a beer person. And though it might be tempting to give them one of those “funny” beer gifts, like a helmet with the two straws, you can do better than that. There are plenty of clever gift ideas for beer lovers that they’ll use and appreciate, and to make it easy for you to pick a beer gift they might actually want, we consulted a group of experts that included brewers and brewmasters, certified ciceroni, and beer writers to find the best gifts for beer lovers that have more staying power than a six-pack.
Gifts for beer drinkers
Yeti Hopper M30
Yeti coolers, which we’ve deemed the best coolers on the market, are beloved by pretty much anyone who uses them for their virtual indestructibility and the fact that they keep food and drinks (and ice!) cold for literal hours on end. Which is why we were not surprised when Jesse Ferguson, the founder and brewmaster at Interboro Spirits and Ales, told us this Yeti cooler would make an impressive gift for a beer lover who needs to keep their brews ice cold. “This is great for the traveling beer geek,” he says. “Fill it with cans and bottles and check it on your way home from your trip visiting new breweries.” The rugged soft-side cooler has a wide-mouth opening with ultrastrong magnets to keep it closed, as well as top handles, a shoulder strap, leak-proof liner, and a shell that’s resistant to mildew, punctures, and UV rays. It can hold up to 20 cans of beer or 28 pounds of ice.
BrüMate Hopsulator BOTT’L Stainless Steel Insulated Bottle Cooler
Strategist writer Dominique Pariso first turned us on to Brümate’s stainless-steel coozies when she wrote that they kept her slender White Claw ice cold, even on a hot summer day. Luckily for the beer drinker in your life, BrüMate’s Hopsulator coozie comes in a standard size that’ll keep their favorite 12-ounce bottles of IPA ice cold, too.
Yeti Rambler 16 Oz. Colster Tall Can Insulator
Since glass isn’t allowed on many beaches or in some state parks, your favorite beer lover is probably hauling cans all summer long. Mary Izett, co-owner of Fifth Hammer Brewing Company in Queens, New York, loves the Yeti Colster — a can insulator — for summertime imbibing. “They’re lightweight, durable, and keep your beer at the appropriate temperature on the hottest of days,” Izett says.
Spiegelau IPA Glass
“If you want to get some fancy glasses, Spiegelau has some really nice stuff specifically designed for specific styles,” David Zuskov, the brewer and lab manager at Almanac Beer Co. in Alameda, California, explains. “The IPA glass really makes a difference. I drank the same beer out of their glass and a pint glass, and you can taste so much more flavor from theirs.”
Spiegelau 4-Piece Craft Beer Tasting Kit
If you’re not sure what style of beer they enjoy the most, but still want to upgrade their glassware from novelty pint glasses, give them a Spiegelau four-piece tasting set, which comes with the IPA glass, a glass for stouts, and one for American wheat beer.
Proper Pour Beer Bottle Cap Holder Shadow Box
Bruntmor CAPMAGS Magnetic Beer Opener & Magnetic Cap Catcher
“One year for Christmas, my mom gave me one of those ‘Save Water, Drink Beer’ shadow boxes that you fill with your used bottle caps. She also gave me a wall-mounted bottle opener built from a melted Toasted Lager bottle. It was the perfect combo,” says Dan Jansen, director of supply at Anheuser-Busch’s Brewers Collective. “The challenge became filling the shadowbox by the next Christmas, and I definitely rose to it.” While these aren’t the same shadow box and bottle opener Jansen has, they’re just as compelling to get your beer-loving buddy to get busy (responsibly) filling up that box.
FS Objects Hand 2 Bottle Opener
Speaking of bottle openers, according to Julia Herz, the publisher of CraftBeer.com and craft-beer program director at the Brewers Association, you can’t go wrong with giving a beer lover a solid bottle opener. “A kick-ass bottle opener needs to feel sturdy and work well. It’s a catalyst for each glee-filled moment you open a beer. It needs to be special enough for it to gain more and more meaning and purpose with each use.” We think this one from FS Objects, which is handmade from solid brass, definitely has that “special enough” quality she’s talking about.
Hay Bottle Opener
For a still stylish but less expensive option, try this durable, zinc-alloy bottle opener from Hay (one of the Strategist’s go-to home-goods brands).
iggy Camouflage-Jacquard Webbing Belt
Or, for the beer drinker who prefers to wear his gear, this belt with a built-in bottle opener behind its buckle is sure to delight. It came recommended by our Resident Cool Guy Chris Black, who says the belt has that “I played a side stage at Lollapalooza in 1993” energy.
Pint-Sized Brewing Kit
You’ve heard of the one-gallon brewing kit, but if you’re pressed for space, Brooklyn-based beer supply shop Bitter & Esters sells a pint-size home-brewing kit. It includes a quart Mason jar, green fermentation lid, 16-ounce swing-top bottle, and everything else you need to make a literal pint of beer. “This is a clever, compact, and fun way to get a taste of home brewing before committing to a larger setup,” says Izett, plus it would also make a great gag gift for any amateur home-brewing expert you know.
A di Alessi Anna G. Corkscrew
The lambic beer drinker in your life, though, will need a corkscrew to get to the good stuff. (Bottles of lambic are corked, not capped, and we talk more about this unique type of Belgian beer below.) Kaufmann Mercantile Handmade Ceramic Growler With Loop

Hydro Flask 64oz Growler
We also love this vacuum-insulated growler from Hydro Flask. It would make a perfect companion to the Yeti cooler on your beer-loving friend’s next camping trip.
GrowlerWerks Copper uKeg Carbonated Growler, 64 oz
If you really want to wow your cold-one swigging loved one, try this snazzy stainless-steel growler that doubles as a tap and also features a pressure gauge and a carbonation cap that “automatically regulates pressure to optimally carbonate beer,” according to the product description.
CraftHouse101 750mL Lambic Basket
The best gift that Jim Raras Jr., the executive vice-president of Mikkeller NYC, ever received is a lambic basket. Lambic is a specific style of beer from Belgium, considered special because it’s fermented with native yeast in the bottle. (That’s also known as bottle-conditioned beer.) But the yeast means that it’s a finicky type of beer to serve, and you want pour it and store it at a tilt so that you don’t get sediment in your glass while drinking. That’s where the lambic basket comes in, and it’s a great gift for Belgian-beer nerds. “The one I received was from a wonderful friend, for my birthday; he got it from brasserie Cantillon — that was very special to me. A properly clear pour of a bottle-conditioned beer is such a delight and really showcases the beer; this helps a ton if you’re not pouring the entire bottle at once.” This handmade one is made from dyed seagrass and rattan.
Kouboo Wine Bottle Basket and Decanter in Rattan-Nito, Brown
This all-rattan lambic basket is also handsome, though slightly less expensive. It can also be used for wine, which is great for a split household.

Gifts for beer makers
Maestro Homebrew Beer Equipment Kit with Auto Siphon
“If the person is a novice home brewer, you can get them a basic setup kit,” says Zuskov, the brewer and lab manager at Almanac. He likes the home-brew starter kit from MoreBeer, an East Bay-based company, but this one from Amazon has all of the same equipment.
Glass Carboy (3 Gallon)
“If the person is more advanced, maybe upgrade one of their pieces of equipment,” advises Zuskov. “If they’re using a plastic bucket to ferment, maybe buy them a glass carboy.” And whether you’re buying home-brew equipment for a new or experienced brewer, consider also getting them grain, malt, and hops. “You could always buy the ingredients for the brew and then that way you could go and brew the beer with them.”
Kegco 24” Wide Triple Tap Stainless Steel Kegerator
For the serious beer lover or home brewer, Mulligan recommends a Kegerator — that is, a fridge for a keg. While definitely pricey, “a Kegerator is a great way to spruce up a home-bar setup for your beer collector,” she says. She likes this 24-inch model from Kegco that can accommodate a full-size keg (even commercial ones from the likes of Coors and Miller); a half or quarter-size barrel; or three narrower home-brew kegs. It also comes with three taps and caster wheels for easy mobility, and can be converted into a regular refrigerator by adding the two included shelves. “If your beer lover is also a home-brewing geek, choose hookups for a Corny (Cornelius) keg,” adds Mulligan. Andrew McNally, the founder and brewmaster at Common Bond Brewers — Montgomery, Alabama’s only production brewery — agrees that “a kegerator makes a great gift,” adding, “You get to serve draft like the pros in the comfort of your very own (wo)man cave.”
Gifts for beer geeks
The Oxford Companion to Beer
“In terms of giving a beer-related gift, I would have to say that the Oxford Companion to Beer is a great option,” says Zach Mack, beer writer and owner of Alphabet City Beer Co. and Governors Island Beer Co. “It’s perfect for someone who already knows a little bit about beer and wants to learn more, but doesn’t want to dive into the insanely overcrowded realm of beer books. It’s a very concise and tightly written encyclopedic record for beer that’s remarkably approachable given its depth. And even if they don’t end up using it every time they crack a beer, it looks nice on a bookshelf or coffee table.”
The Brewmaster’s Table: Discovering the Pleasures of Real Beer With Real Food
The author of the Oxford Companion, Garrett Oliver, is the brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery and the 2014 winner of the James Beard Award for Excellent Wine, Beer or Spirits Professional. His first book, The Brewmaster’s Table: Discovering the Pleasures of Real Beer With Real Food, is also a good read for someone who knows they like drinking beer, but doesn’t know much about the history or even different styles of brewing.
Tasting Beer, 2nd Edition: An Insider’s Guide to the World’s Greatest Drink

The Complete Beer Course: Boot Camp for Beer Geeks: From Novice to Expert in Twelve Tasting Classes
“It’s impossible for me to overlook how instrumental Josh Bernstein’s The Complete Beer Course was in motivating me to dig deeper into the infinite world of beer,” says Blake Tomnitz, co-founder and CEO of Five Boroughs Brewing Co. “Not to mention, it helped solidify my desire to work in the beer industry. For someone who loves beer, it hits all the right notes.”
“The New World Guide to Beer” by Michael Jackson
“Michael Jackson’s Beer Companion: The World’s Great Beer Styles, Gastronomy, and Traditions” by Michael Jackson
These books by the late English beer critic and author Michael Jackson (a.k.a. the Beer Hunter) — who is credited for kickstarting the North American microbrewery movement in the 1970s — are deep cuts for those who know. Mulligan told us they are some of her favorite beer gifts to give. “Both books are approachable for first-timers and don’t talk down to the amateur consumer,” she says. If your recipient prefers to crack open a beer instead of a book, Mulligan adds that these are just as good for displaying on a coffee table as they are for reading. While they’re out of print, you can still buy used copies Amazon at relatively low prices.

(Bottles of lambic are corked, not capped, and we talk more about this unique type of Belgian beer below.) For them, consider this cheerful one from iconic Italian design company Alessi that Black also recommends. Her name is Anna G. and she was designed by Alessandro Mendini in 1994.
