Rosalind Russell - The Miracle Woman
Catherine Rosalind Russell (born in Waterbury, Connecticut on June 4, 1907) was an American actress known for playing sassy, wisecracking women in 1930s and '40s comedies. Despite going through postpartum depression, the deaths of her siblings, breast cancer, and rheumatoid arthritis, she thrived as a charismatic actress on film and the stage, earning the nickname "The Miracle Woman.”
Raised in a strict Irish-American, Catholic family. She attended Rosemont College and Marymount College, before graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City, unbeknownst to her parents who believed she was studying to be a speech teacher.
Against parental objections, she began her career as a fashion model and took acting jobs in upstate New York, Connecticut, and Boston before eventually appearing in Broadway.
In 1933, Russell went to Los Angeles, where she was hired as a contract player for Universal Studios but did not appear in a movie. Unhappy at Universal, she moved to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, where she broke through in the classic screwball comedy His Girl Friday (1940), directed by Howard Hawks.
She took a break after giving birth from her career, but made a comeback with RKO Pictures and then with Columbia Pictures. She continued to appear in critically acclaimed movies and Broadway shows through the mid-1960s, including the title role of the long-running stage comedy Auntie Mame (based on a Patrick Dennis novel) as well as the 1958 film version.
After years of battling breast cancer and even getting a double mastectomy, she died at her home in Beverly Hills, California at 69 years of age. Months after her death, she was honored by her acting colleagues with the “Interlude With Rosalind Russell” at the Shubert Theater in Broadway.
Legacy:
Nominated four times for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performances in My Sister Eileen (1942), Sister Kenny (1946), Mourning Becomes Electra (1947), and Auntie Mame (1958)
Won all five of her Golden Globe Award for Best Actress nominations: Sister Kenny (1946), Mourning Becomes Electra (1947), Auntie Mame (1958), A Majority of One (1961), and Gypsy (1962)

Marc Caputo at The Bulwark:
WHENEVER DONALD TRUMP BRANDISHES a stack of papers or reads a printout of a social media post, he’s relying on the work of Natalie Harp. Harp, 32, occupies a unique role in the history of presidential campaigns: aide who travels with a portable printer (plus paper and rechargeable batteries in a large bag) whose job is to feed Trump a steady stream of information on 8.5x11″ pieces of paper. That way, the 77-year-old doesn’t have to strain his eyes on a smartphone to read all the news that’s fit to print in MAGAville.
Harp’s nickname on the campaign—“the human printer”—underplays her importance. That’s because in Trump’s orbit, proximity to the principal is power. And with her portable printer at the ready, Harp is constantly around Trump—whether she’s sitting close to the defense table in the Manhattan courthouse on weekdays or riding the links with Trump on Sundays in Florida. Perhaps more than anyone else, Harp gatekeeps much of what Trump sees on social media and reads in the news.
“IF YOU WANT THE PRESIDENT TO SEE SOMETHING, the best route is Natalie,” says a knowledgeable source who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the internal workings of Trump’s inner team and who has passed information to the candidate via Harp. “Don’t underestimate her importance.” It’s been an interesting journey for Harp. She comes from a conservative Christian family in California and graduated from Liberty University in 2015.
[...]
After 2020, Harp became a One American News Network anchor, where she promoted the lie that the 2020 election was stolen. She was then hired on to the Trump 2024 campaign last year.
Trump has told others that he appreciates Harp’s dedication and she aligns ideologically with him. She tends to flag items about voter fraud and internal Republican enemies, topics for which Trump has a limitless appetite. Harp also helps manage Trump’s Truth Social media account and has taken over some of the duties from Trump’s former caddy-turned-senior-adviser Dan Scavino. This can be a taxing job. On Monday, while he was on trial in New York, Trump’s Truth Social media account reposted a video, published first on X by a supporter using the handle @ramble_rants, called “What happens after Trump wins?” The video featured mock old-fashioned newspaper headlines. One of the sepia-toned faux-newspaper stock images included the phrase “Unified Reich.” Maybe not the best look for a candidate who has dined with actual neo-Nazi Nick Fuentes and “joked” that he would like to be a dictator for a day.
[...] The campaign’s co-managers, Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, don’t directly oversee Harp and, the source said, and essentially leave her alone. “Natalie fills a role and Chris and Susie know that’s what he wants,” the source said, “so they focus on other things.”
The Bulwark’s Marc A. Caputo reports on Trump aide Natalie Harp, who once was employed by far-right propaganda outlet OANN. Harp serves as the portable printer for Donald Trump to read the news that’s fit to print in MAGAville.

Five Easy Pieces (1970)
By: Christian Lavarello
The film “Five Easy Pieces” by director Bob Rafelson tells the story of Robert Eroica Dupea, “Bobby” played by Jack Nicholson, a thirtysomething oil rigger working in Kern County, California. Bobby moved away from his upper middle-class upbringing and classical musical talent as a pianist, intending to run away from his problems and his character demonstrates a lack of responsibility, ambition and insecurity. Bobby’s lack of ambition and insecurity led him into a period of emotional emptiness and dissatisfaction for twenty something years as a blue-collar worker alongside his girlfriend Rayette whom he treats unfairly and shows a lack of respect and love.
Jack Nicholson learning to play the piano for his lead role in "Five Easy Pieces".
When Bobby learns from his sister that his father has had two strokes and his health was declining, he decides to travel back to his family home in Washington State. It is during this trip that we get to know Bobby on a much deeper level as he shows embarrassment towards Rayette, cheats on her and ends up abandoning her at the end of the film. One of the most touching scenes that lets the viewer see Bobby in a vulnerable state is when he tells his father, “I don't know if you'd be particularly interested in hearing anything about me. My life, I mean... Most of it doesn't add up to much that I could relate as a way of life that you'd approve of... I'd like to be able to tell you why, but I don't really... I mean, I move around a lot because things tend to get bad when I stay. And I'm looking... for auspicious beginnings, I guess... I'm trying to, you know, imagine your half of this conversation... My feeling is, that if you could talk, we probably wouldn't be talking. That's pretty much how it got to be before... I left... Are you all right? I don't know what to say... Tita suggested that we try to... I don't know. I think that she... seems to feel we've got... some understanding to reach... She totally denies the fact that we were never that comfortable with each other to begin with... The best that I can do, is apologize. We both know that I was never really that good at it, anyway... I'm sorry it didn't work out”.
Five Easy Pieces director, Bob Rafelson left home at an early age to experience the world on his own terms, performing for a time in rodeos and playing jazz combo in Mexico. Bob Rafelson was the son of a hat manufacturer and studied philosophy at Dartmouth College and at the University of Benares in India before serving in the U.S. Army in Japan. He was an American film director, writer and producer who is known as one of the founding leaders in the “American New Wave” movement of the 70s.
Five Easy Pieces was widely acknowledged as Bob Rafelson’s masterpiece given how artistic and influential this film was for its’ time. The film, Nicholson, and Black all received multiple Oscar and other Academy Award nominations. The majority of reviews of this film were extremely positive and some touch on the themes of masculinity, upper- and lower-class America, alienation and family dynamics. Robert Ebert wrote a few reviews for this film and in one he states the following, “It is difficult to explain today how much Bobby Dupea meant to the film's first audiences. I was at the New York Film Festival for the premiere of "Five Easy Pieces," and I remember the explosive laughter, the deep silences, the stunned attention as the final shot seemed to continue forever, and then the ovation”.
By the late 1960s prior to the release of “Five Easy Pieces”, the United States political situation was very unstable with President Richard Nixon's secret bombings of Cambodia and the uncertainty of the Vietnam War. This was followed by President Nixon’s resignation given his Watergate scandal and Wall Street’s hard-hat riots. On a more positive note, the Apollo 13 mission launched on April 11, 1970.
While “Five Easy Pieces” is considered a conventional film due to its story and style being for the most part easy to understand and was produced and distributed by a large corporation, some have referred to it as the “first Sundance film”. The film was a success with a $1.6 million budget and a gross profit of around $18 million in the U.S. I enjoyed watching this film and learning about its influential value in modern day American films as well as the psychological dilemma the main character faced and how these various issues were presented to the viewer during a time where the U.S. was undergoing various major changes in history.

Final poll
Meet Raven!
(@lisluvzyx, if your character isn't chosen to be Pragers S/O, I can still give her a roll in the KWaH, just pop a message in my inbox if you want to add/change some things about her)
She is Prager’s friend, (and love interest) She goes by Raven, but her birth name is Caroline May Nolan. She is twenty-seven, Raven’s nickname is probably Ven or Ray, just an easy three letter word that’s better than a legit birds name.
She’s a thin, 5’7” woman, and has a bit of muscle. She’s very flexible, and is a doctor. She’s soft hearted, but once someone makes a joke she shoots it right back at them. She’s approachable, and friendly, but is concerned about others getting hurt.
I have an idea of how you meet her, maybe just a character needing someone to talk to, or they get hurt! Otherwise I have no idea, and don’t care what happens! Why you should be meeting her, that should be obvious, lol. She’s a caregiver!
She is american, was born in Virginia, so she has a bit of a ‘country’ accent when she gets a bit riled up. Other than that, ‘Blue Diamond’ from Steven Universe is her voice claim.
Chapters I don’t mind, but atleast two to three.
I’ll keep my original idea that she has a black and white cat named, ‘Mary.’ Raven is very religious, and was born into the religion of Christianity.
Raven grew up on a small farm in rural Virginia with her mother and older sister. Her father had left before she was born, and although Raven had always felt a sense of emptiness from not knowing him, her mother had done her best to provide for the family on her own. Growing up, Raven had always been a bit of a wild child. She was always exploring the woods and fields around the farm, and had a deep love for animals. She was especially fond of the ravens that would visit the farm, and she began to see them as her own personal guardians, watching over her and keeping her safe. As Raven grew older, she began to feel restless. She yearned for something more than the quiet life on the farm, and dreamed of adventure and excitement. But her mother was always cautious, warning her of the dangers of the outside world and urging her to stay close to home. But everything changed when Raven's mother suddenly fell ill and passed away. Raven's sister, who had been living in California with her boyfriend, returned home for the funeral, but then announced that she was going to stay in California with him. Raven was devastated. She felt abandoned and alone, with no one to turn to. In her grief and desperation, Raven began to feel a pull towards the thing her mother told her not to do most. She left home, and sought out big-city-living. She visited them everyday, and got into college. After she had became a doctor, and had gotten an invite for some training in the military as a combat medic.
This was thrilling for her, and she accepted immediately.
This is her:

You don’t have to read this, but I had to write it.
I really can’t believe the current reality I’m living through. Today especially did not feel real. The rain helped, maybe even the fact that my mom forgot the gallon of milk she bought yesterday in the car until today.
Housing my mom and youngest sister for the week till we recover from being ill is going to be weird. If you told me three weeks ago this would be happening I wouldn’t have believed it. Mostly because we weren’t on talking terms with each other since early March.
Moving back to the Antelope Valley will be weirder, but we’ll get there when we get there.
I can’t wait till Saturday. I can’t wait to see my grandma. I think today was the first day from all of this that it really occurred to me how scared she must be - through confusion and dizziness that I can only compare to being extremely drunk and high. She must be so scared.
They said I can stay over night with her at the hospital on Saturday which is great. I haven’t seen her once since she made it back to America. I miss her and I miss our conversations. But … they’re saying she can’t really talk. Two words is a lot for her.
I keep fantasizing that when I get to her hospital room she’ll remember every single word and that she’ll tell me about the months she just spent back home, she’ll tell me old stories about El Salvador - the kind you forget till you get brought back to the scene of the crime and then she’ll ask me the dreaded question; whether or not I have a boyfriend currently.
But I know it probably won’t play out like that, though I have a little hope that it might still.
One time when I was a little girl I asked the universe to show me how powerful I was - that if I was powerful the next day it would rain. It didn’t. The next day it snowed.
I’m from Southern California and it hardly ever snows in the high desert. Less than that it hardly ever sticks, but this time it did. It snowed for one perfect day and to this day the locals still talk about that one time it snowed so hard that it stuck. I would always smile thinking it was me.
The next time it began to snow like that I sat by the window of my grandmother’s house and watched snowflakes come down. I focused really hard and the snow became thicker, in certain areas it began to stick. But my grandma was getting really sick. I decided that I would let go of the snow and I would focus on her instead. I asked her if she trusted me and she said okay. I closed my eyes and put my twelve year old hands over her and focused. She was better the next day.
I didn’t get any credit from her and that was okay. I didn’t expect to. Heck even to this day I know I’m a little nuts, but I did rejoice thinking I helped in some way.
At 27 I keep thinking maybe I can do it again. Hold my hands over her and focus. Make whatever this is go away, because if I can’t and she doesn’t get better - I don’t think I’m ready for worse case scenario. I want the old stories, the ice down my back as a prank, me crying to her and feeling safe about it, sitting at her feet while she lectures me about finances and Christianity, talking about boyfriends and mothers, helping her get dressed, and pupusas. This doesn’t feel fair. Even if she recovers she may not be the same and how was I supposed to know the last time we did all our favorite things was the last time we’d be doing it as the Gemini twins?
I was born the day before her birthday. She told me that she was very excited that the clock would reach midnight before my cranium reached outside my mother. That we’d share a birthday. It didn’t happen by three hours, but many times we still shared a cake or a celebration. I have loved her. She has been one of my best companions growing up.
She gave the doctors her name incorrectly. Her maiden name that hasn’t been her name for five decades now. I’m scared she won’t remember me or worse - I’m scared she’ll think I’m my mom, but younger when they didn’t get along.
More than that though I hope she’s not in a lot of pain, I hope my aunts that have been able to stay with her have made her feel safe and loved. Listening to my mom and her siblings make decisions about what they need to do next is exhausting and I dread the day when it becomes mine and my sisters’ turn. If you read this all the way through I do welcome good energy and prayers. Thanks.

Lana Del Rey’s First Summer
Elisa Carini & Vincenzo Grasso
As in a Orthodox Christian service, Lana Del Rey turns her back to the audience. Having consumed the first half of the concert, she pauses for a few minutes in the feverish atmosphere at the Bussoladomani Park, in Lido di Camaiore. It’s July 2nd, 2023, and we are on the last day of “La Prima Estate” Festival. The monologue that accompanies the music video of one of her best-known singles, Ride, starts on the screen, projected at the back of the stage. Her recorded voice recites:
I was in the winter of my life, and the men I met along the road were my only summer…
One after the other, in snapshots, Lana’s thousand summers come to life: the Lana-before-fame, when she was Lizzy Grant and had platinum blonde hair; Lana in Video Games, the 2011 YouTube phenomenon that changed everything with a homemade video clip and a chorus backed by her smoky timbre impossible to replicate. As she told the Daily Mail in 2011: ‹‹If I’d known so many people were going to watch it, I would have made very different choices››. And yet, it may have been precisely these choices – the low-resolution webcam pointed at her face; the lips stretched out like a canthus – that marked the trajectory of an artist destined to become a cult figure in the contemporary music scene. And then again, in a coast-to-coast journey through her catalogue of records, she shows all of her transformations. While we’re at it, we wonder why such an artist would choose Lido di Camaiore as the venue for her only Italian date, announced just six days before.
Perhaps, this exemplifies an aesthetic of subtraction, one that Lana has pursued throughout her career. Her stage-fright, the terror of the spotlight, perhaps even an awareness of the inability to live up to the expectations placed on female artists in pop music. So, she also deletes her social media. The music can “speak for itself”, no promotional strategy other than the vicarious marketing of her own fanbase.
The location is certainly not easy to get to, but today we’re 17,000.
When the monologue ends and Lana returns to our gaze, we wonder what her next move will be. When will the Lana we see now become part of this celebratory carousel?
Handmade nostalgia
Red heart-shaped sunglasses, white flowers in dark hair, mullets and mustaches, cherry coke and peyote T-shirts, cowboy boots, denim shorts, ethereal dresses. Cameras capture an excited, eager crowd. After a sunny afternoon it starts to wind up. Reflected on the large screens, a boy holds up a sign that says "MOMMY?", he smiles.
Through a vast repertoire curated over the course of a decade, Lana has created a complex, distinctive and, for the early 2000s, innovative narrative universe. Her references include some of the cornerstones of American literature and music: Walt Whitman, Allen Ginsberg, Tennessee Williams, Sylvia Plath, T.S. Eliot, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Joni Mitchell, not to mention covers of songs such as Blue Velvet, Summer Wine, Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood and Chelsea Hotel No°2. Lana has taken a bygone aesthetic - that of 1950s’ USA - and made it her own, enacting it with the grace of poetry.
Think of Lolita – Nabokov’s novel – which, like herself, has often been misunderstood, accused of romanticizing abusive relationships. It is almost impossible to think of Lana Del Rey without certain literary references coming to mind, or other iconic images such as Marilyn singing Happy Birthday to JFK, Jackie O’ and her pink Chanel suit. And these images live together with the California of the early 1970s, with “jazz singers” and “cult leaders” (Charles Manson and the family), with life “on the road”, being on a Harley Davidsons with your cheeks resting on the leather vest of much older man, with half-empty motels in the middle of the desert and abandoned gasoline stations.
It’s impossible not to think of her religious references too: Tropico, the 2016 short movie, the blue veil over her long dark hair and her hands clasped in prayer. Lana’s world is made up of her passions, of aesthetics that speak to her, of "handmade nostalgia". Quotes and references are never an end in themselves, but serve to create atmospheres, to evoke feelings. Lana tells stories, sometimes even her own, with extreme sincerity and vulnerability, a perhaps unconscious courage that we could call authentic: she cannot and does not want to do otherwise.
Lana has created a world for herself and has nurtured the worlds of others. Think of a novel like The Girls, by Emma Cline, and a song like Freak; think of the many artists inspired by her, who are already collecting her legacy. Laila Al Habash and Maria Antoinetta themselves - who opened the concert and were wonderful, telling stories and building worlds - reaffirmed the importance of an artist like her for the contemporary scene. It’s also impossible to think of Lana without thinking about the era of Tumblr, when it was still popular among the younger generation and full of photos of her: Lana in front of the American flag with honey-brown hair winking at the camera, Lana in her red Ferrari jacket. It’s impossible not to think of the hours spent sharing her photos and videos, trying to recreate her aesthetic. It is impossible not to think back to the time when you first discovered her, Lana.
There’s still light, but not for long. We look at the big screens. A sign reads: “YOU DID MORE FOR ME THAN MY THERAPIST”. The girl we befriended smiles. We ask her if she remembers the first time she heard Lana. She recounts that it was the summer of 2012, that she was on holiday at her grandmother’s country house. ‹‹There was nothing to do,›› she says, ‹‹Me and my cousin used to spend the days sitting on the lawn talking, drawing, and listening to Born To Die. He made me discover it.›› She smiles: ‹‹We were sixteen. I listened to Summertime Sadness crying every night because my boyfriend had moved out. We were living on Tumblr››. She takes a sip of her beer: ‹‹It's been ten years and we still write to each other sometimes heaven is a place on earth with you.››
A Motel Room of One’s Own
Throughout the concert, Lana is accompanied by the band, a corps of dancers, and her three backup singers. As she performs her most famous songs - Young and Beautiful, Ride, Born to Die, Blue Jeans, Summertime Sadness and Video Games - the crowd overwhelms her voice.
On the songs that are less well known to the general public, such as the newer ones from her latest Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard, the crowd calms down and Lana’s vocal performance comes out strong and mature. Long gone are the days when she was harshly criticized for her musical inaccuracies resulting from a seemingly uncontrollable anxiety.
In Lana’s early days, the American and European media portrayed her as the result of a Frankensteinian operation between the stereotype of a movie diva and a 1940s torch singer. In a 2014 interview with The Guardian, the singer, often accused of a kind of ingratitude towards life because of the recognisable sadness that still characterizes her music, confessed: ‹‹I was hoping I was already dead››. That same year, upon the publication of her most controversial work, Ultraviolence, she was torn to shreds by critics for “glorifying” domestic violence.
Reality or fiction? In this case, the search for an answer is less interesting than the question itself. In fact, Lana has often hovered on the liminal specter of autofiction, and it is only recently that she has begun to indulge to the practice of ruthless autobiography.
In the first half of the concert, Lana sings The Grants, a single from her latest album in which talks about the fear of losing family members. It is a eulogy to emotional memory: she mentions the birth of her niece, her grandmother’s last words - in short, what she intends to take away with her when her time comes.
When she sings an intimate version of the title track from Ocean Blvd, the question is reversed and becomes an invitation to her audience: ‹‹Don’t forget me.›› Thousands of arms raise their mobile phones, their flashes on. But the truth is, it is hard to forget an artist who has irrevocably changed the course of pop music by narcotising it; before her arrival, pop music was dominated by the obsessive and sweetened rhythms of the early 2000s.To paraphrase a passage from her own song, even today, here on stage in front of thousands of people, there is a girl locked in a motel room, humming. If you have found the entrance to this hidden world, don’t leave it.

I notice that after I meditate I get headaches, body aches, and chest discomfort. I guess every time I meditate I peel back layers of trauma that I’ve suppressed over the years.
One good thing is that since I started meditating I’ve become much more comfortable with parts of my identity, like my sexuality for example. I’ve come to terms with being a dominant butch lesbian who’s attracted to femmes.
And I also know what I want to do in life. I want to travel to different places across the country—I’ve always wanted to go to Southern California, especially Los Angeles; I want to date beautiful women—maybe even fall in love; and I want to hang out and build community with other queer people—the queer community is where I feel the most at home.
And since I started meditating and coming back to myself, I’ve found that leaving organized religion behind was the best decision I’ve made in my life so far. I was raised Christian by my mother, but as I started meditating I’ve deconstructed my spirituality—a lot—and I still am. It is liberating. I’m never going back.
And I experience a lot more epiphanies and revelations that have been so helpful in my healing journey. It’s all a process, and I shouldn’t rush it.
May the Universe guide me throughout this journey of healing and wholeness.

The 2023 Hater's Guide to the West Region
This blog is not in any way affiliated with the NCAA, its entities, subsidiaries, or member institutions. This is a humor site and should be treated as such. We’re all on our way out – act accordingly.
1. Kansas (28-6). When Texas beat Kansas to end the Big 12 (8?) regular season, the intrepid videographer shooting the game happened to catch a KU coed wearing a t-shirt which read “I (heart) Dick.” A-fucking-mazing. Look, I don’t have to tell you KU fans need this one seed, need the wins, need a title more than anything to justify their continued existence. They live in Kansas for fuck’s sake – Interstate 70 ends in Lawrence and you are stuck wandering the plains like Denzel Washington in Book of Eli until you reach Colorado, and the interstate magically appears again. There is NOTHING to do here other than watch basketball, and that says a lot, because I live in Iowa!
2. UCLA (29-5). This is a Bruin, right? With that face, I am 100% sure his name is “Crick Monin.”
3. Gonzaga (28-5). There is a new Constitutional amendment which clearly states you are no longer allowed to refer to Gonzaga as a Cinderella school. It’s been twenty five years - I think the slipper finally broke. They’ve now been in every final AP poll since the 2008-09 season, and have appeared in every weekly AP poll since 2016-17, a streak of 115 consecutive weeks. I will never stop laughing when eighth year senior Drew Timme appears on my TV screen. All I see is TIMMY from South Park. Fuck John Stockton.
4. UConn (25-8). Go back to the AAC! Biggest group of crybabies in the country and it isn’t even close. When their women’s team had an injury plagued season (lost five games including back-to-back games for the first time in 30 years), Geno Auriemma vented to the media and to his team, telling them they had three days before the conference tournament to fix things. Then he got in his car and drove home to Manchester, wishing he could continue westward. “The way I felt was I want to wake up in California in three days,” he said. “I just want to keep driving, I don’t want to do anything, I don’t want to come to practice.” Jesus man, just fucking quit already and move away from that awful place. Twitter account CrimsonCast put it best: UConn continues to fail to shake the perception that they are simply an analytics darling. Like an east coast version of the Mountain West.
5. Saint Mary’s (26-7). Every bracket, no matter the site, always lists this school as “Saint Mary’s (CA).” Why? No one is confusing this school for the archaeological dig site posing as a university in Maryland, or the all-women’s college in north-central Indiana where many of the enrolled students play for nearby Leprechaun U, also known as Notre Dame. No, this is the school – in California – that gets exclusive coverage on ESPN Australia/New Zealand. Sixty percent of the student body is involved in organized athletics here, so it’s a good chance you’ll be handed a scholarship and some sort of ball upon move-in. It’s either that or forced labor washing jockstraps.
6. TCU (21-12). Their coach gives out a pair of “charge socks” when a Horned Frog player takes a charge. There’s a big bucket of these colorful dress socks in the TCU locker room. Charge socks? You have to be kidding me. You are in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, you can’t find a bag of blow or an extra couple of c-notes for your athletes? (Producer cuts in…garbled static…). Pardon me, I’ve just been informed that the “C” in TCU stands for “Christian.” There is no cocaine on campus. But NIL is legal now, surely you can find something other than a pair of sweaty dress socks to reward your unpaid employees. Perhaps a sad handjob from a coed who has already put on the freshman 15+15+15?
7. Northwestern (21-11). Congratulations, you finished top three in the Big Ten for the first time since 1960. You won your last conference championship 90 (!) years ago. You have made one (1) NCAA tournament and had to be retroactively selected as something called the Helms National Champion. Your most successful head coach played for Phog Allen at Kansas – in 1917! Northwestern basketball is the definition of futility. They are the Chicago Cubs of the NCAA; fitting for a program that markets itself as “Chicago’s Big Ten team” (insert jerking off hand motion here). Even if Northwestern won 25 games a season for the next 25 years, they would still have a losing record.
8. Arkansas (20-13). It is against state law to mispronounce “Arkansas'' while in the state, yet their residents pronounce jalapeno “Holla-PEE-no.” Gun to my head, I wouldn’t be able to look at Sarah Huckabee Sanders naked, playing with a hula hoop, for more than a second.
9. Illinois (20-12). Brad Underwood is a bargain-bin Gene Keady who is very upset about “booty ball.” Every press conference he attends ends with him making a wet fart sound into the microphone.
10. Boise State (24-9). No one gives a shit about this team unless tater tots rise to $6 a bag – then it’s time to storm the blue court. I know exactly one person from Idaho and their personality matches that of the official state produce. This person is incapable of being corrected. They are always right. You are always wrong. If you say the sky is blue, their response will no doubt begin with “well, actually…” Boise is also not a state, you arrogant fuckhead.
11. Arizona State (20-12) or Nevada (23-9). Over 60% of the student body at ASU has some form of herpes. Unless you are a model, they throw you in an engineering building for four years. If you hate Duke just like the rest of America, you generally hate Christian Laettner and Grant Hill. But there’s one player from those early-90s teams everyone forgot: Bobby Hurley. As I’ve aged, my hatred for Hurley has waned, but I’ll always wish maximum pain for whatever team he coaches.
With the growth of legalized sports gambling across the United States, the University of Nevada has introduced several new classes for the 2023-24 school year: Kneecap Relocation, Intermediate Hammer Smashing Techniques, and Advanced Vig Calculation. Another new course addition as of Thursday morning: Getting Your Shit Pushed In By A Sun Devil Pitchfork. Too soon? Probably.
12. VCU (27-7). VCU stands for Very Completely Underwhelming. This isn’t a college, it’s an industrial laundry that has tricked 28,000 students into paying the institution to “work.” If you want a perfect example of the bloat in higher education administration, consider there are over 11,000 non-academic staff at VCU. Never trust a doctor from this school; they only practiced on centaurs.
13. Iona (27-7). Someone is going to give Rick Pitino the best 14 seconds of his life to coach for them.
14. Grand Canyon (24-11). By employing buzzer-beating Valpo alum Bryce Drew, this pretend university has already accomplished more in the NCAA Tournament than Mount Rushmore State, Hoover Dam U, Smokey Mountains College and SUNY-Niagara Falls.
15. UNC Asheville (27-7). Let’s have a quick check-in on how this college is doing. Student enrollment and retention are plunging at UNC-Asheville and top leadership is departing at the highest rate in the entire UNC system. While overall student enrollment in the UNC system has increased 7% since 2015, UNC-Asheville fell by a stunning 25%, the largest drop among the 16 public universities in the system. Of the incoming students UNC-A is able to attract, a high number of them leave before graduation. Retention of students, measured as those returning for a second year of school, is now just 68.6%, the lowest in ten years. Jesus, even Trump University would laugh at these numbers.
16. Howard (22-12). Howard students recently had to protest living conditions in on-campus dorms – mold, mildew, and rats are apparently very commonplace in multiple residences. It is 2023; the only sensible reason these alarming conditions should be issues on your campus is when you have outsourced every part of the student life experience to a call center in the middle of the Himalayas.

"Oh but Biden sucks on foreign policy-"
Because we all know that Donald "Muslim Ban" "Build The Wall And Make Mexico Pay For It" "Foreign Rapist Caravans" Trump is famously SO good about it, right? And I would love for people to stop giving him credit for covid preventing him from being WORSE in his last year.
Meanwhile, the Democratic party is...lukewarm at best about the environment, but Trump outright wants to destroy the world like a cartoon villain. California had a tropical storm last year, and a hurricane this year. The past 7 months have been the warmest on record. This is due, in part, to not yet being able to finish fixing the damage Trump ALREADY did. That's going to affect - and already IS affecting - the entire world, starting with the poorest and most vulnerable parts. But sure, let him get in because that'll totally save people! Anyone who wants to prevent that just refuses to think beyond America, absolutely! [/sarcasm]
The Democratic party is also lukewarm at best about queer rights, but Trump and his fanatics are all on board with trying to fucking kill us all.
The Democratic party is lukewarm at best about labor issues, welfare programs, universal healthcare, and all the other economic factors that will really help our most vulnerable, but Trump wants to dismantle the ENTIRETY of what we have.
The Republican party is trying very very hard to institute a Christian fundamentalist theocracy. They are saying, out loud, in no uncertain terms, that their end goal is to get everyone to be Christian or die. We don't hear that from the Democratic party.
Sure, they're probably not going to achieve their loftiest goals - but they can dismantle the EPA. They can pull back out of the Paris Agreement. They can ramp up military funding. They can continue approving and promoting weapons sales to whoever and bombing whoever. They can ban refugees. They MAY very well succeed at federal bans on queer healthcare - whether that's transition care, AIDS treatment, or even just allowing bigoted EMTs to let you bleed out in the streets because you were wearing a rainbow bracelet. They can pardon murderer cops. They can stuff the Supreme Court again, and set other legal "time bombs" to do even more damage only AFTER they leave office and blame their opponents for the carnage.
The difference is fucking obvious. There IS a lesser evil.
anyway. i think most people left of mainstream US liberal are uh. insufficiently scared of Trump. this has become a cringe take over the years but i think electing him again has a really terrifying set of tail outcomes that are unlikely but possible

Of Spics
I was just psychostalked through a stripmall by a goddamn stupid motherfucking wetback rude as shit fucking spic.
He opened his fucking mouth and yelled at me from a distance of over 10 feet. He demanded to know if I was carrying a bible or what my book was (a journal), and told me that Jesus loved me.
Said spic: fallowed me to the workforce center, and attempted to pass out fliers about keeping people off drugs, namely Fentenol.
Could someone please drop more funding into boarder patrol in California and Texas and remind the spic populations that they might want to return to Mexico, prior to everyone white just opening fire when and where they are found anywhere north of the Rio Grande. We want all outfits equipped and paid to kill everyone with black hair, and replace them with blondes, as part of an Equal Opportunity Grant. Never do you see a blonde, muslim, buddhist, or a satanist working for Boarder Control. At best, you will find anti-semetic butffucking q-balls who masturbate and call that "satanism".
this is becoming FAR TOO FUCKING EXCESSIVE that Christians as irritating and horrible and cuntish that they are feel they have a single fucking right to continue to pester, harrass, psychostalk, or demand JACK SHIT of me, even if it's my time or energy. They need to be reminded, that when someone wears as much black as I do: they might find their faith and their methods of control, abuse, and systems of governance to be perfectly unlikable, in ways that results in an open fire.
Im still in Kansas. Im still kidnapped.
Kate Brown... is officially a dingle berry hanging from the asshole of a Delano bum. This makes her the personification of a turd: moreso than Hankey the Christmas Poo.
have a nice day...
J.C. Lambert # Anurean
Ms. Gwen...
is the Dean of the University, she may not say the word "nigger" and must adhear to anti-american business policies.
So we aint related at all at this time.
But she should hold the escrowed family gold, moreso than Karen.
Gwen...
Gimme yo pistol woman, and whatever money in yo purse. That or go feed your babies something at Freddy's Custard or wherever it is you farm folk go for fast food (and it better not be Chickfilet, they have decided to join the GMO boycott and enforce through subliminal messaging and control to chant "Hell No GMO")
We have wetback spics that need killed, moreso than them there wild injuns who just succeeded the whole state of Colorado and bitchslapped a few folk at Elway Motors until everyone's stolen mini coopers are returned home to mamma in Kansas.

Playing around with IQ math
IQ is a funny metric because it's quite vague. It basically tells you how many people score higher & lower than you on IQ tests, & that's all. It doesn't tell you how much smarter you are than the next-best scorer, because we don't understand the brain well enough to measure that. It's just another way of writing percentile, & you can map percentile to fun metrics like 'best in group of size X' & 'top Y of the world'.
(However, fictional universes that have superpowers/firebending/etc could have very fun numerical mappings between the size of a city & the power level of its most formidable hero.)
Here are some fun little translations of specific IQs into English, from my spreadsheet:
200 IQ = Best in 9.4 Earths (200 IQ cannot* exist in the present, because a person simply cannot score higher than 76 billion people) 199 IQ = Best in 6.0 Earths 198 IQ = Best in 3.8 Earths 197 IQ = Best in 2.5 Earths 196 IQ = Best in 1.6 Earths 195 IQ = Best in Earth (Highest possible IQ today) 194 IQ = Best in Eurasia 193 IQ = Best in Asia 192 IQ = Best in Christianity 191 IQ = Best in all English speakers 190 IQ = Best in Africa 189 IQ = Best in Europe 188 IQ = Best in South America 187 IQ = Best in USA 186 IQ = Best in Brazil 184 IQ = Best in Vietnam 182 IQ = Best in California 181 IQ = Best in Jakarta 180 IQ = Best in New York State 179 IQ = Best in Ontario 178 IQ = Best in Seoul 177 IQ = Best in Massachusetts 176 IQ = Best in Ireland (country) 175 IQ = Best in Baja California 174 IQ = Best in Queens 173 IQ = Best in Manhattan 172 IQ = Best in Dublin 171 IQ = Best in San Francisco proper 170 IQ = Best in Oklahoma City 168 IQ = Best in Harlem 164 IQ = Best in a large stadium 161 IQ = Best in a stadium 159 IQ = Best in a university 157 IQ = Best in Fairfax, LA 149 IQ = Best in a large high school 143 IQ = Best in a high school year 141 IQ = Best in a large lecture hall 139 IQ = Best in a church 131 IQ = Best in a bus 127 IQ = Best in a classroom 120 IQ = Best in a soccer team 116 IQ = Best in a minivan 113 IQ = Best in a family of 5 110 IQ = Best in a family of 4 107 IQ = Best in an Apex team 101 IQ = Best in a couple 100 IQ = Normal test result
*There are multiple scoring techniques for IQ; what i'm saying is true for the technique i'm familiar with.
