Possibly the BEST Chocolate Chip Cookies like...EVER!

Ingredients:
My edits
1 1/4 cups (165g) all purpose flour, spooned and leveled
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp salt (if using salted butter, 1/4 tsp)
pinch of cinnamon
1/2 cup (110g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled (salted)
1/2 cup (100g) light brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup (75g) granulated sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups (240g) good quality semisweet chocolate chips + more for topping (I just follow my heart and did a mixture of semi sweet and milk chocolate...a dash of white chocolate chips)
6 Oreo cookies (optional)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium sized bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add the melted and cooled butter (melted in the microwave until almost completely melted), brown sugar, and sugar. It’s important that the butter is not hot, but it can be slightly warm. Whisk vigorously for 1-2 minutes until it turns into a paste-like consistency.
Whisk in the egg and vanilla until smooth.
Pour in the dry ingredients and use a rubber spatula to fold to combine. Leave a few streaks of flour and pour in the chocolate chips. Continue to fold the dough until the chocolate chips are dispersed and the flour is completely blended in. Do not over mix.
Scoop cookies onto the baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes (12 for a more gooey cookie, 15 more a more well done cookie). Use a large cookie scoop, to scoop dough. Form into a ball, and press down in center then insert half of Oreo cookie. Wrap dough around cookie. Refrigerate dough for 20-30 minutes before baking.
The cookies are ready when they have a golden ring around the edge but are pale and puffed in the center. The cookies will continue to bake outside oven and will slowly flatten and settle as they cool.
When they’re fresh from the oven, top with a few extra chocolate chips and sprinkle with sea salt. (I did not do this step)
When I made this I did a double batch, so I doubled everything on the recipe. The only thing different is that I add 1/4 cup less of flour than the doubled measurement. If the dough is oily add more flour.

i need to learn to bake something new as everyone at work already knows i'm bringing them some carrot cake on friday....
#as some of u may have heard several times this month or any time the number 22 is mentioned its my bday on friday#so im baking something to bring to work#and i can bake more than just carrot cake#i think ive brought brownies to work more often than carrot cake. and ive also dabbled in chocolate chip oat cookies#and mokkapalat.#and yet#i saw my boss today and she jokingly was like ''haha i guess we'll be getting some carrot cake on our big planning meeting on friday''#which. hold on just to preface this i actually like my boss and she has my best interests in mind and shes v nice.#anyways i didnt even tell her id be baking smh. i mean i always bake something for work when theres a special occassion but still#and howd she guess it was carrot cake. ok probably bc thats my fave but still#i know i have a complaining tone in here but i think its funny and silly#i know i'm a predictable person but sometimes it manifests in weird ways#i did not know my carrot cake baking was THAT predictable#oh. i was thinking of going to the liquor store on fri bc its a tradition of mine and they have a new#cant remember if it was white or red but anyways some type of new seasonal flavor of wine glögg#i think regular glögg is superior but man can you imagine a red wine glögg with carrot cake#cozy spices...#especially since my carrot cake recipe is very winter-y as it has cinnamon and clove in it#i usually love lighting candles and getting cozy on the sofa as soon as the days get short#but i havent done that yet this year#can u imagine. little lights and candles on. red wine glögg and carrot cake. sitting on the sofa under a blanket.#watching something on the tv.#would love to read but its not ideal in candlelight#i usually like having a big light on bc i like to see but it's nice being in a dimly lit room when its dark anyways#leevi talks

My cookies never turn out like Tumblr pictures 😂
#they are definitely underdone in the middle but thankfully i dont care#and i only did 2.25 instead of 2.5 cups of choc chips and there were still too many chips#as i the dough wont form because it's all chocolate chipa#and no milk chips because i don't keep that shit in my pantry#alex does food#as i typed this the ones left in the oven burnt 😆#my dark cookie sheet got them done in about 10 min#but the light was still struggling at 13#and for the record i have yet to use a recipe that uses brown butter and be worth it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#and i think the toll house recipe is best#last thing i will do the lost art of mixing cookies by hand as long as i can

i’m such a messy baker it’s unbelievable how the fuck is there bread dough on my shorts . how did that get there . the other day i found this huge smear of red velvet batter on my arm and i’m pretty sure powdered sugar is boiled into my bloodstream they should invent a baking that doesn’t get everywhere

It turns out the cookies are real — sort of.
They are baked at the home of Lara MacLean, who has been a “puppet wrangler” for the Jim Henson Company for almost three decades. MacLean started as an intern for Sesame Workshop in 1992 and has been working for the team ever since.
The recipe, roughly: Pancake mix, puffed rice, Grape-Nuts and instant coffee, with water in the mixture. The chocolate chips are made using hot glue sticks — essentially colored gobs of glue.
The cookies do not have oils, fats or sugars. Those would stain Cookie Monster. They’re edible, but barely. “Kind of like a dog treat,” MacLean says.
Before she reinvented the recipe in the 2000s, the creative team behind “Sesame Street” used versions of rice crackers and foams to make the cookies. The challenge was that the rice crackers would make more of a mess and get stuck in Cookie’s fur. And the foams didn’t look like cookies once they broke apart.
Cookie has been portrayed since 2001 by David Rudman, who took over the role from Frank Oz. Rudman’s right hand moves the mouth, which is eating, and his left hand holds the cookies. Both work in concert to break the cookies, which means they have to be soft enough to fall apart.
Rudman said soft cookies are best, adding, “The more crumbs, the funnier it is. If he eats the cookie, and it only breaks into two pieces if it’s too hard, it’s just not funny,” he said. “It looks almost painful. But if he eats a cookie and it explodes into a hundred crumbs, that’s where the comedy comes from.”
MacLean has perfected a recipe that is “thin enough that it’ll explode into a hundred crumbs,” Rudman said. “But it’s not too thin that it’ll break in my hand when I’m holding it.”
Not every (human) guest realizes that the cookies aren’t meant to be eaten. Adam Sandler appeared on an episode and decided to share in the muppet's delight by spontaneously eating a cookie with him on set.
“As soon as the cameras cut, he was like, ‘Blech!' ” MacLean said.
