As the original Joe Hills Simp and the weird pet raccoon of Cleo's Partner CamronJK, I might be able to illuminate on the situation of Joe and Cleo and why they mesh so well. I think cleo and joe work well together because English, History, and Geography teachers have a natural symbiosis. To be clear Joe is not an English or History Teacher, he just acts like one a lot.

And he teaches us things about history.

Plus Cleo gets to play the straight man, grounding Joe in don't do that it's too much work just do this much easier thing, and Joe doesn't listen.

There's also their Bully + Nerd dynamic, kinda like Baljeet and Bufard from Phineas and Ferb. In fact their entire relationship is built on the basis of Joe and Cleo acting at odds with each other.

Joe Knows where he wants to go, but doesn't know exactly how to get there. Luckily he's been doing that for so long that he may as well have night vision. And like a lot of creatures with night vision, he doesn't handle daylight very well. And damn is Cleo a deadly laser.

I started writing this while high.

I think I make good points, but also honestly it's just a great dynamic between people who have been friends for a long time. They are dry, Joe is great at being a woobie. They are both nerdy enough to get eachother's references and niche enough in different directions to be able to generate thoughts and synthesize ideas and jokes upon these thigns being brought to light.

Hajun's/Joker's analysis

(This is more like a rant tbh)

I don't see lot of people talking about Hajun, whereas I think he's fascinating character and even though there's a lot we don't know about him, he's written enough for me to rant and analyse about.

Hajun, a.k.a Joker, is a character in Windbreaker webtoon written by Yongseok Jo. He's part of Sabbath crew, which plays antagonistic role in the story. Joker's moral compass can be confusing at first because he's illegally making money, but he's also well-intented person. He has taken the role of caregiver and provider for his brothers and he seems to give everything he has to live up to that role. However, the money he's making is from underground and illegal boxing, where people bet money who's gonna win and who's gonna lose. I believe fight clubs are popular outside of this manhwa so, I'm sure you all understand what I mean. It's been shown that Hajun enjoys fights and he's fascinated by mma & martial arts, but boxing is what he has taken biggest interest in. He tends to get excited whenever he meets strong opponent (like how he immediately started a fight with Owen, who's supposedly cyclist genius) and immediately asks for a fight, whether politely or not. He never misses a chance to get into fight, not for money but because he genuinely likes fighting strong opponents. He has quick reflexes and can easily block random and sudden attacks, he's also a guy who starts throwing punches before others can even blink. Can he act impulsive? Yes. Is he a bad person? No. And I'm going to explain why.

Firstly, his little brother HATES that Hajun is making money by beating people up, hence he, himself, starts working and denies his education. Hajun, as a big brother, of course can't turn blind eye to it and hence approaches his brother about it more than once. Upon hearing what his little brother said in part 3 of Windbreaker, Joker decided to change his ways of making money so his little brother wouldn't have to work so hard especially at construction site, which is very dangerous for a kid.

Mind you, it's not easy for Hajun either because as I said, he truly enjoys fighting and he needs to make money as soon as he can but there's very little he can do without professional career or guardian. It's not only money as well, he's cooking for them, handling their healthcare and etc. He's trying his best to be emotionally available for them as well and makes sure to hear them out and be understanding in his own ways.

Aside from being caregiver to his brothers, he's a person who values fairness. He refused to against Dom Kang when it was two on one because he considered it to be unfair, he doesn't pick on weaker opponents because he knows it'd be unfair - like how he refused to block Shelly because she wasn't good at physical fights and he didn't want to injure her. But he went against his own morals few times in order to gain money, like helping Wooin with drug dealing just because Sangho gave them money.(Or maybe he thinks it's alright as long as he gets money out of it) However, Joker himself never doped and achieved everything by his own strength and skills.

His morals might be little questionable at some point but he's truly well-intented man. He even stopped cycling in the middle of race, despite being close to finish line, to save the injured puppy and go to the vet afterwards. He seems to be very responsible person as well, as he took the puppy under his care, provided for it and always made sure puppy was with him and safe. Once, he also stopped at the red light during the cycling race when he didn't have to.

He's quite hardworker as well, acknowledges his weakness and trains to improve himself. He's quite motivated character and has sportsmanship whatsoever. Author is portraying him as tough on outside, soft on the inside type of guy in the series. But again, there's more to his character that has to be explored but we're lacking information, unfortunately. A really good trait of his is that he's not changing his values and morals for someone, no matter what kind of situation he really is in. He has his priorities set straight and follows it with undying loyalty.

If John and Yoko had lived in London and he had surrounded her with his old mates and people who only answered to him, if he had isolated her from her family and friends and then persuaded her to give him all her money, drugged her and controlled what she ate, would you still say, well, it’s OK, because she said he was her best friend and we should respect that?

I bet you wouldn’t.

I didn't really say anything about "respect" I don't think, I'm talking about understanding. In that sense, yes, it's respecting someone's perspective. If Yoko had that perspective I think it would be worthy of consideration, even if it would ultimately "not be right".

I do think you're using a worst case scenario assessment of John and Yoko in this suggested role reversal, when, as we've discussed, we don't really know the full facts cause a lot of this comes from Goldman, who very obviously had an axe to grind. I don't think it's necessarily wrong to say Yoko was abusive in this scenario, but I also think it's probably not true that John had zero influence on what was going on in that marriage. He had extreme body dysmorphia before he met Yoko; he got into depressive, self-isolating episodes before he met Yoko. Maybe she exacerbated those issues while thinking she was helping (I believe she followed the macrobioting diet as well and by her own indication she helped John lose the weight he himself was determined to lose). Also, I take issue with your "drugged" wording. Did Yoko forcefeed or secretly drug John? If so, that's news to me (and kind of suspect). Otherwise, a lot of people provided drugs to John Lennon.

TBH, I personally doubt she was a net positive influence on him – I see how I may have come off unwarrantedly defensive of her, but you also have to understand that less than a week ago I was getting anons seriously suggesting Yoko had John killed, plus it is just relatively obvious that some people in this space will do everything to discredit how much this relationship mattered to John. Something can matter to him and be ultimately bad for him! Drugs for instance – but an analysis of John that did not accept that drugs played a big role in his life that he did not on the whole perceive as a bad thing at the time (or at least not with the same understanding we have nowadays) would be a bad analysis of him. (I'm not saying Yoko necessarily = drugs, I'm somewhat adopting the worst faith perspective)

Here's a question for you: do you approach John and Cyn's relationship with this same attitude? John arguably put Cyn through hell and treated her horribly when they divorced. I'm not gonna ennumerate his shortcomings, I'm sure you know them well enough, but are they really not even in the ballpark of what Yoko did? And especially if you apply the same skepticism you seem to have for Yoko to John, as in, assuming the worst allegations are true? (it's even crazier to me, when, a lot of tinhats on this site [and I'm not saying you're one of them anon] seem to basically assume John did not care about Cyn)

Also, to be clear, it's fine if you like John more than Yoko – I get these things are subjective. But if we're talking about accusations that are verging on criminal… idk I want to approach it with tact personally.

hmm recently i have been really enjoying like thriller novels people just slowly becoming overwhelmed and destroyed by the web of lies they try to maintain is always really fun love some classic sci fi and tbh also love an extremely long in depth nonfiction book about something i either already find interesting or stuff i know nothing about..

well since i dropped out of high school pretty early and havent gone to college my choices are much more limited lol but probably the giver by lois lowry i loved reading that in middle school it was one of the few books i actually enjoyed i think we were allowed to just sit down and read the whole thing rather than reading in the weird stilted chapter by chapter with worksheets and note taking we were often required that turned even the best books into mind numbing torture (i mean id usually read the whole book on its own but going back to do all that random busy work still kind of ruined the experience lol) tbh my best english class i ever took we didnt do any assigned novels we just read short stories and essays and such in class for discussion and analysis and could do longer projects on books of our own choosing tho my favorite book of choice for that class was the biography of alan turing for our biographies project ... anyways the giver was a really great book i have a really soft spot in my heart for like that interesting type of sci fi fantasy type stuff that uses the unique language of the made up world to articulate something very real and specific about being a child and the world thru the eyes of a child that i think have always really stuck with me and were really wonderful important books when i was a kid..

Ocean's 8 ANALYSIS [1/?] : MET GALA DRESS RANKING

I have watched Ocean's 8 and I have THOUGHTS so letss gooooo This is going to be in a number of parts becuse ahhhh this is gonna be long probably

Let's start with my ranking of the Met Gala looks because AHHHHH i need to get this out of my braiiinnnn (and it's also proabbaly the lightest topic, so!)

The important thing to remember about our O8 ladies is that a. they slay b. they are pulling a heist, so why they need to be glamerous enough to fit in, they also need to avoid standing out. My ranking will be based upon the very subjective scale of "how pretty i think it is" with notes about how this relates to the heist etc

Going from best to worst, first up ---

9Ball aka Rihanna wearing TF out of this simple yet elegetn dress. It's very no nonsense, luxurious but simple.

When I tell you I GASPED when she got out of the van wearing this... Bro. Unmatched. The silluate and fit are perfect and this red was MADE for her, I swear.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

You can be a party pooper and say that despite its simplicity it's still to fancy and tight for a character like 9Ball who, tbh, didn't need to go to the gala anyway (being the hacker and off site by design). To that I say that we deserve to see Rihanna kill it going down the stairs like she owns the place which, if we're honest, she proabbaly does.

I love this dress so fucking much it's so simple yet such a perfect freaking fit. Love it.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss hell yes.

Lou kills it with a suit that perfectly encapsulate her 'muscline' and edgy look throughout the film, just all glammed up. The color, the sparkle, that cheeky cleavage showing the jewl, omg. I want the entire wardrobe of Kate Blanche in this movie and her look was no dissapointment.

The thing that trips me a little bit, though, is that she wasn't filmed in the gala like the rest of the squad, and we only get to see her wearing this on the street, walking to Debbie, and I stg I thoguht she litterally wore this on the street and was like ???? But that was O K. and you know why? Cause she did it for the vibs and the WLWs and that's ok by meee.

The woman of the hour, Daphn Klueger aka Anne Hathaway.

It's lovely - I'm actually a little bit obssssed because I love a good cape and this is a GREAT cape, and whil striking it's not overbaring and works weell with th straplss dress to showcase th neckless.

This one is interesting bcausee it was designed, in univrse, to stand out and follow the gala theme (european royalty) and I actually feel that in universe she was proabably one of the 'adaquate, but not wow' persons of the night and the interenet probabaly chewed her off for not going all the way with the theme butttt

This is a movie, not real life, and the purpose of this outfit was to highlight the Necklace aka the target aka the focus point for the movie, which it did (as I say, it frames it perfectly) and it is a decent enough nod to the theme for me to belive this is a legit met gala outfit someone would wear.

My only issue is this color. I DON'T like it, not for this. A rich (royal) blue would have looked much better imo (and might have been a node to princess Diana famous ring if we go all big brain about it). I think the color was chosen to make Daphne stick out over the viewers and grab our focus (which was her role in the plot, tbh), so I get it - even if I don't like it.

Ok, love this. Amita - aka Mindy Kaling - suntring down the stairs in a look that is, literally, pure gold.

Love. Love. LOVE the sleeves, the ornament heavy on top, and the way the fabric drapes. She looks fantastic and this is definetally her kind of gold. The golden dress also gets extra points because I think that its good for hiest reasons - if you see her in passing and don't know who she is, you will rememebr the dress more than the person becasue it's so sparkly. I also like her hair in this, It feels nicely done but reasonable, considering she had to move from her kitchen worker costum to this in very short time.

A stong yet not overwheleming look from our woman on the inside, Tammy aka Sarah Pualson. She is the event orgnizers and therefore went with the (releteively) modest black on black look which fits in with the servers outfits and I personally really like.

I think it also works for Tammy as a person - it's not revealing, the puff sleeves make gives her broad sholders (cause she's a strong woman, lol) and It does look practicle for a woman who will probabaly be up on her feet all night, making sure things run smoothly - both in the heist and the actual gala.

My only issue? It looks CRUNCHY. It's one of those fabric that would either crumble or cut my hands if I try to squeeze it. Pretty spooky.

Debbi Ocean aka Sandra Bullock in this look that I'd call sufficiant - mfancy enough for the gala but underwhelming overall --- which is exactly the point of a heist disguise. She doesn't stand out and most people will probabaly forget she was even there.

The reason it's so low on the list is because I just.... don't like it very much. I think it's the gold-on-black color scheme, which I'm not a huge fan of, personally.

I WILL SAY that it works well with her wig which is practically the color of the embelishments and thus kinda mix the entire look togther in a fitting yet unimpressiv blob, a perfect costume for the heist.

Also I get a kick out of her being the only one wearing a wig, an extra con for our head conwoman.

It's not that I don't like this dress - I HATE it. I get that Rose is a once-legendary-now-flop in universe but comon, Helena Boham Carter deserved better than this.

It's doing so much, gives so little, and is just MESSY. The tacky print. THe flower embelishment. The unclear folds (?) around the chest UNDER the tacky print. WHY.

Though the biggest offendrs are the accessories. What in the mid 2010's is those stupid sunglasses - which, now that I look at them, might have been decent if not for that stupid giant hairpeice of mounted crap.

Rose Wile consisently gets the worst costumes in this movie and I just. Don't. Get it. This is the worse one though, by far.

Ok, but why do this to my girl Constanse (aka Awkwafina).

I have a personal hatred to those hotdog looking dresses with the nude mesh and those applique looking embelishment. Why not give her a suit, as well? She was wearing shirt+pants street style the entire movie, why torture hr lik this?

I hate it, but I do love the way she's wearing it, with he heels (who gave her HEELS?) in her hands and the IM DONE look on her face.

I do wonder how they glammed up her hair so fast, though. Weren't they on a tight heist schedual? Is this some secret thief trick? If so, where I can I learn it???

hi there! so i think others have done this extensively, i usually find such jokes / mini "thought pieces" on reddit (you can try r/naruto or r/dankruto and search relevant keywords) or youtube comment sections, and especially the YT vid from Death Battle, although other (smaller) creators have also posted (more serious) video essays about Obito, where Anakin / Darth Vader has been mentioned as a parallel to Obito's character :)

unfortunately i can't remember the exact video & all the information is a bit scattered, even in my brain lol, so the best i can do is point u to some sources 🥲

(of course as with all sources, there are some things i disagree with, for instance DB lists Obito as having "less combat experience" than Vader, but we actually don't know what Obito does during all those nigh 20 years that he was living as "Nobody" / "The Masked Man" / Tobi, i mean he could've been training and participating in duels, espionage, skirmishes, battles, etc., i mean he was the secret leader of the Akatsuki, the real Fourth Mizukage of Mist/Kiri, also basically the real leader of Land of Rain too ("Amekage" if you will?) since he is the reason Pain & Konan were able to overthrow Hanzō and the two take orders from him even if they are not loyal to him, so there could've been countless of combat / military and political missions he was involved in that happened "offscreen", and add to all that the fact he was a child soldier starting from around age 9 (when he became a genin and began taking on missions) and that, of course, he was a main player (war criminal! lol) as both fighter and strategist and military commander in Narutoverse's Fourth World War—but hey, the whole point of fandom & media is that there will also be multiple interpretations, so i see no point in "nitpicking" a fictional fight analysis lol)

maybe something new i can add is the meta parallel of how, in real life, vader's identity reveal was a plot twist that shook the whole of star wars fandom and beyond, shocking audiences & remaining iconic to this day

similarly, though i wasn't there (in the fandom or following the anime), at the time, when obito was revealed to be The Masked Man ("Tobi") in the anime, apparently sooo many streaming sites straight up broke down due to the sheer number of people immediately going to see the episode (guess there aren't that many manga readers compared to anime haha)

so yeah, vader broke cinema (insert martin scorsese meme), and obito broke the internet, quite literally 🤣

The briefer, the better.

Now, you know someone said the court case is next month, right? So, that means you don't really wnat OLD reports on it, you want a more recent source marking the date. Refine your search, under the search bar, to the right there is "tools"

Click it, "any time" "all results" will pop up

Change it to "past month" (week, 24 hours, fuck around til it starts working) and... viola... MULTIPLE articles to choose from, relatively up to date on info, you even get some reddit threads if you want to see arm chair analysis that is wholly off base but said very confidently.

I recommend going through multiple articles to find one that comes off as the most credible, sometimes non-credible sites report credible news but you look like an ass when you link it, so scroll for the best one.

Again, I am glad you want sources, I'm glad you tried on your own, but this court case has made me INCREDIBLY alarmed at the lack of basic research/fact checking skills and asks like this only make me more nervous becaues it was LITERALLY the second link on google without even refining my search terms. Maybe you use a better search engine (good on you, tbh) but... well... use the better search engine... better than this.

My experience of larries based on the platforms they use

Twitter: highly enthusiastic. Think 21 is an old fan. Young and Beautiful is everyone's favourite fic, even those who've never read it. Think H & L have been together since 2010 but also will block anyone who questions babygate (this is apparently bluegreening and is not to be borne). Will say they're unlarrying for the cred/hit tweet. Very excited for Liam's wedding where Freddie and Bear will meet and H & L will be each others dates. Just as likely to be a zarry depending on the day tbh. Always looking for larrie "moots".

TiK Tok: The funny corner of the larry fandom. Almost all post hiatus larries who are constantly "uncovering" shit that people have known about since 2010. Excellent dancers. Seriously lacking critical thinking skills but what do you expect from larries willing to download an app that has such severe security issues it makes facebook look responsible and safe.

Instagram: Extremely spanish? Lots of reposting of aesthetic manips. Cute cartoons of mermaid harry, and lots of rainbows. Will post the same 6 photos of H & L over and over. Super chill, just like looking at photos of their faves, and the comments are always blue green hearts and lovely compliments. Almost no facts or discourse, which is actually kind of lovely for a break but gets repetitive after a while.

Reddit: The absolute opposite of what you would expect from reddit. Tiny. The chillest. Mostly just upvoting tik tok videos and making cute larry spongebob memes. Lots of fanfic recs, but they all seem to be imagines from Wattpad. Always posting about how confused they are by everything (especially the stunts) because they believe in larry but also think every stunt is real.

Youtube: Lost since freddieismyqueen shut their account tbh. Monthly larry proof videos. Always talking about uncovering the dark side of one direction in 40 minute videos but it's mostly just zoomed in pics of H & L looking sad while the youtuber makes disclaimers of not really knowing anything. The best part are the youtubers who just make videos with titles like '8 minutes where one direction are just absolute disasters' or '20 minutes straight of harry and Louis looking at each other'. I miss Evan.

Tumblr: Old, tired, and done with your shit, but somehow still here. Welcoming of new larries but fucked if they're gonna hold your hand. 10 years of either intricately archived and tagged masterposts or have tagged random posts over the years with whatever joke was going around at the time so sometimes the most interesting information is tagged 'harry is the breadsticks and Louis is the handbag'. Know everything straight away and have a page long analysis about it circulating within 5 mins, despite the fact that no one ever seems to actually be online. Everyone claims that they don't talk stunts or discourse. Still plenty of stunt discussion and discourse. Intricate knowledge of every time H & L did anything, mostly because no one knows when any post on this site was made so constantly placing things in context.

A Refugee's Guide

I've only completed this once so far. It basically entails taking photos of locations and characters and harvesting certain plants, as directed. I believe there's a different version for each of the biome areas? I did the Mire edition, and it just so happened that two of my photo targets were ten steps apart lol. Overall pretty easy, and I like that it has some variety.

Big Game Hunter

I've activated this one a few times, but never been able to complete it properly. The aim is to kill given creatures within a set period of time,and I'm not great at combat and have little patience for respawning constantly to get one useless hit on a Yao Guai before it murders me for the sixteenth time, so... yep. This one wasn't for me. Seems like it could yield good XP for the more combat-inclined.

Buried with Honor

One of my staple daily quests. It's a glorified fetch quest (object: part of a skeleton that you then have to go and bury in the battlefield cemetery), with a hidden bonus stage of 'only remember when you reach the cemetery that you now have to go to your CAMP and get a shovel out of your stash'.

Code Blue

This is one of the newer Refuge dailies, and I've already had enough of it XD. It's pure fetch and return (object: medical information). Usually fairly easy XP, just lacks any wow factor.

Cop a Squatter

I've never completed this one proper because it's literally just 'clear out X area of Y enemy', but for some reason it tends to auto-complete for me a lot, with a radio announcement and giving rewards and XP and all? This has even happened when I was in the Pitt mid-dialogue with Danilo, for maximum comedic value. I'm fairly sure the quest simply tracks whether all of the targets die or not, regardless of what kills them, and the location of this quest is usually deep in Scorchbeast land, so they tend not to be especially long-lived.

Dross Toss

This is a nice easy one (as are all of the Camden Park dailies, tbh). You just throw rocks at tyres, and get your sweet, sweet XP reward regardless of whether you hit the targets or otherwise.

Ecological Balance

I do this one a lot for roleplaying purposes. It involves taking a soil, water and air sample from variable given locations around the Forest region, and then taking them to a separate location for analysis. I learned pretty early on that (unlike a few other dailies with similarly variable locations) you actually do have to go to the three exact sample sites indicated on the map, not whichever sample site of that type is most convenient to get to. On the whole, not the best or worst. Can take a while, and you're almost guaranteed to get attacked by multiple Liberators at the final stage (could be a pro or con depending on your play style and combat skill, I guess!).

Idle Explosives

Fetch quest once again (object: inert bombs, almost always from the Valley Galleria in my experience). There's a slight dialogue glitch with Boomer (the quest initiator) in which dialogue will close prematurely without the objective 'talk to Boomer' completing. Very easily fixable by talking to him a second time, just throwin' it out there that it happens a lot. Also, I have about 30 inert bombs in my inventory that I can't drop thanks to this quest.

Lucky Mucker

This is another Camden Park quest, and it's incredibly easy. You're supposed to deposit coal from a bucket into mine carts scattered around the park, but I just... trigger the quest and leave. Then, when the timer runs out, viola- XP and rewards! Sorry not sorry.

Mutual Aid

Fetch quest, fetch quest (object: 50 of a random crafting material). Not particularly hard, but can take a while for me. I don't focus on crafting or scrapping a whole lot these days, and so I don't have 50 of anything just lying around, but I'd imagine plenty of players do and so would find this one very easy!

Operation Tidy

This one's only triggered for me once. It involves picking up heaps of glowing toxic waste and storing it securely. I'm pretty sure there were enemies around, but I can't recall exactly what. Overall, wasn't too bad.

Pass the Buck

Agh. I've only ever had this one activate once, and I gave it a good faith attempt. You're supposed to pick up toxic waste barrels and dump them somewhere more private. Supposed to. What actually happens is that the quest glitches and spawns a freaking sea of mirelurks to repeatedly kill you. According to the wiki, this quest has currently been disabled because of such happenings.

Photo Opportunity

Another pretty easy quest. This one just involves taking photos of locations and characters affiliated with either Foundation or Crater (you get to choose which of the two each time you do the quest). I do recall that once you take said pictures, there's a choice to hand them over to a representative of the opposing faction for a reputation boost, but I can't say for sure what impact that has as I've never gone that route.

Play Time

I love Play Time. I hate Play Time. I love to hate Play Time. It's multiple daily quests in a trenchcoat, really. You encounter a Miss Nanny who mistakes you for 'Leslie', the child in her care, and sends you off into some dangerous situation. One variation involves picking flowers (which, despite indicating a designated flower-picking area, will still usually count flowers picked from anywhere or previously in your inventory, in my experience), another finding lost toys, another going on a playdate with feral ghouls, and my least favourite variation is collecting the body parts of enemies such as Mirelurks and Anglers for a 'science project'. Theoretically, I'm very much a fan of the variety here, but what tends to happen is as follows: I trigger Play Time, realise it's the killing creatures version, and then let it sit incomplete in my quest log forever, preventing me from being able to try the other Play Times until I finally get my act together, put on my big boy pants and kill an Angler or two.

Queen of the Hunt

Not for me. 100% not for me. The entire quest is checking multiple sites for a cryptid, then killing it once you find it. As you might have guessed by now, that sort of quest is very much not my style. Probably has good XP for the patient and feisty, though.

Recipe for Success

This feels a bit like a fetch quest, but it jazzes things up a little. You make a stew. That's it. A bit of running around to gather and prepare ingredients, trying not to forget to stir the bloody stew so you don't burn it yet again... and when all's said and done, you choose whether to donate it to a Raider or Settler representative for a rep boost with their faction.

Retirement Plan

I quite like this one. Would like it more if it didn't glitch out regularly lol. Rocksy at Crater will ask you to 'deal with' a former Raider in any way you see fit. You can kill them, recommend that they join the Settlers, or just tell them to get out of the area entirely. Easy stuff- unless the former Raider just so happens to be inside a hilllll-

Someone to Talk To

In this quest, you use special syringer darts to (temporarily) produce talking aminals. Conceptually, I love it! In practice, I'm not always the best at staying alive and in range of the darted creatures for the designated time period, especially when the creatures attack! Still, where else do you get to hear what a Deathclaw has to say about you?

Stings and Things

This took me forever. I think I left it on the books incomplete for around 20-30 levels, genuinely. It's very similar to one of the possible iterations of Play Time. Which one? You guessed it- the only one I don't like! In Stings and Things, you're gathering insect body parts instead, for a reward of insect repellent (and sweet, sweet XP).

Strange Brew

Now, this is definitely my most completed daily quest of all time. It's a fetch quest (object: honey), but the sheer convenience and effort-to-XP ratio make constantly repeating it worth it to me. The beehives always have way more honey than you need, the honey never expires in your inventory, and the quest itself gives yet more honey as a reward, making it very easy to end up with a surplus and be able to complete this quest automatically a few times before needing to actually acquire honey again. Add in that this is one of the most frequently triggered dailies, and you have yourself a practically free source of XP. There is often a dialogue glitch similar to that in Idle Explosives again, but just initiating dialogue a second time rectifies it.

Target Rich Environment

Yet another easy one- occasionally marred by a glitch though it may be. It's fetch and return (object: paper targets), and I gather that a few feral ghouls are supposed to spawn to spice things up at the end of the quest. However, when 'a few' glitches into an army that almost fills the target range Pass the Buck-style... things become a little less easy, let's say.

The Chow Line

This is the final daily quest in Camden Park, and it's as straightforward as the rest. Eat moldy hot dogs whilst getting attacked by Scorchies. If you don't manage to eat them all in the time limit, you still get your XP, so no harm done (except to your poor character's stomach from eating a ton of moldy hot dogs).

The Importance of Communication

This is another Crater quest, and I do it whenever it's available for roleplay reasons. This time, you go on a fetch and return journey (object: radio vacuum tubes) for Wren. Often- if not always- requires you to repair one of the tubes at a tinker's workbench also. How difficult the quest is depends very much on the location of the vacuum tubes, which from what I've seen rotates between locations all across the map. Wavy Willard's? Not too bad But Watoga? Bad.

Thrill of the Grill

Seems to combine two elements I don't like- fetch quests and killing multiple enemies- into one, and yet I enjoy this a lot. The premise is that you obtain Radstag meat for a cookout, and then after that also have to get some tatos for the side dishes. There are options to supply additional meat and vegetable types for bonus rewards too. When this quest begins, a huge Radstag herd will conveniently spawn somewhere nearby. The only issue I find is that going to any of the Toxic Valley farms marked as tato locations often triggers an event, causing a ton of enemies to spawn there and adding lots of new markers to confuse you. Also lots of fun when a Yao Guai slaughters the entire Radstag herd before you get there and is stood waiting for you...

Trick or Treat?

Fetch quest once again (object: pumpkins). It just so happens that the pumpkin patch is right next to an active fissure site of all places, so have fun grabbing your pumpkins and booking it back to the Pumpkin House! Random tip: before you initiate this quest by speaking to Jack O' Lantern, a few pumpkins can spawn behind the shed/garage to the left of the Pumpkin House door. Pick 'em up first if they're there, because after you've spoken to Jack, they seem to vanish?

Vital Equipment

The only strictly Settler daily quest. I've completed this quest three or four times so far, and it seems to follow the exact same progression each time. Ward will ask you to recover a piece of equipment that has been stolen by Raiders, and you have to track it down with the help of a radio signal. Upon locating the thief, they will try to persuade you to let them keep the equipment, and the decision you make will of course affect your faction reputation.

Waste Not

I originally thought this one was newly implemented with a recent update, but apparently nope, I somehow just never had it trigger until fairly recently. It entails killing three Protectrons in the northern Mire region and returning their Red Rocket cores to the nearby station. Not my first choice of daily quest, but I don't mind it.

im certainly not as well versed in utena meta as eva but I have some sources. happy to hear you liked it! its one of my fav shows ever and I think its genuinely such a fucking masterpiece. 

first off I will say one of the best ways to improve your understanding of utena is to rewatch it lol. rewatching after knowing about the world and anthy and the lore is incredibly rewarding and really helps add another layer and perspective to the show--its kind of like watching it with entirely new eyes tbh. last week i finished my third rewatch and was still making new observations/connections. at the very least rewatch at leaaaast once at some point its so worth it I promise <33

if you havent already i would say take a look at the dvd commentary from ikuhara for each episode. It doesnt always clarify anything but sometimes theyre insightful or give a bit of background and sometimes theyre just kind of fun. hes like a big weirdo but yknow it is interesting to read his thoughts

as far as I know ohtori.nu is like the best resource for most utena related things? they have tons of essays on there as well as a good archive of official images/interviews/transcripts. probably this is the best place to start regarding meta and analysis. some caveats: a) the site is pretty old and can be a little janky/hard to navigate b) the essays are fan written and idk what the curation process was or if there even was any, so explore w a grain of salt. 

this blog (allegory-allegorier-allegoriest) rbs/archives a lot of meta posts so might be worth scrolling through. And I would def recommend checking out kurapikawithagun ‘s  rgu posts bc they are so so smart and insightful and really fucking get utena. they’re doing analysis posts for each episode, the first of which i’ll link here!

Lastly, I have three essays on Utena saved in my anime essay drive and i’ve separated them into their own folder. They’re mostly about rgu/magical girls and gender so ymmv there. if you do check them out and have any issues with access pls pls lmk and ill try to fix it!

Also, this particular religion is part of our heritage so I believe we can speak on it a little bit. It’s understandable to see a part of your heritage being used by foreigners in ways you don’t recognize. And it’s a strange feeling indeed because the religion originated and sculpted by the Greeks (with influences of course!). 

I suppose that you, as I, agree that anyone can have any religion. Nothing stops me from becoming a Buddhist and nothing stops a person from the US to become a Hellenic Polytheist. However, I cannot just declare I am a Buddhist and have a prayers and a statue and be done with it. It goes deeper than that. It’s a new philosophy and a way of life I must accept, a way of recognizing the divine differently than before. I have to study and I have to study how Buddhism came to be and what cultures shaped it and follow on their footsteps. Maybe I should also learn a little bit of their language to understand the deeper meaning of hymns and worship. 

I see of the worshipers studying a lot to immitate that sense of Greek culture but also keep their own culture (which is good!). Many of the modern worshipers call themselves reconstructionists because they don’t practise the ancient religion (because we don’t have enough info and because it’s the 21st century) but they try to get close to it by studying. 

I can say it’s a personal pet peeve of mine as a Greek that they focus only on the ancient Greece and therefore they “miss” the last 1.500-2.000 years of our cultural development. I understand they cannot study everything about Greece. A person cannot know everything. However, personally, I am a little bothered that there are Hellenic Polytheists who can recite classic texts and analyze them for hours but if you ask them ANYTHING about Greek culture after 100 AD they won’t know a single thing about it. There are worshipers who know every single minor Greek deity yet they have never seen a picture of Greek people and they have no idea about our cultural identity, how we view life and how we have evolved the language and the customs of our ancestors. 

No wonder you feel the modern practices foreign, even when you are a Greek. It’s because even the most well-read Hellenic Polytheists base their religion solely on a veeeery distant part of our culture. And, in the meantime, the Greek spirit of the ancient faith is kinda lost.

Even Greek Hellenic Polytheists will never fully worship the way their ancestors did. It’s because we are in a different point in history and our society raises us with certain values, which differ from those of our ancients.

But I can get behind Hellenic Polytheists who put in the work to actually study a foreign religion and try to bring it back to life as accuratelly as possible. I may have pet peeves but  that doesn’t mean I condemn the way they worship. Plus even in the Hellenic Polytheism community different worshipers have different opinions on the matter of worship. I understand that those people do the best for their faith.

On the other hand, on Tumblr many people are not in a good cultural level yet. They take the religion very superficially. I have seen some Hellenic Polytheist blogs where the owners call some gods EVIL and bash Zeus, the FATHER of the gods!! There is probably lots of reading that needs to be done on their part to understand the basic concepts. Some even try to shape the religion (!!!) after 1.500 years after its “death” (aka its super dramatic decline) by making posts about “secret” myths that predate the Greek ones and try to pass them as canon. Can we forget the time Tumblr created a Greek goddess (Mesperyan)?? Of course you won’t find the smallest mention of Greek customs in these blogs. 

Thankfully, I have seen a few blogs that at least talk about the customs of our antiquity and help Hellenic Polytheists learn new customs. I hope the community on this site takes examples from them and continues to mature.

It’s a huge answer because I felt the subject needed analysis. Let me repeat, we don’t gatekeep anyone from the faith and we don’t accuse the Hellenic Polytheist community of anything! We just discuss how an important part of our ancient culture is revived and what it means to us. How we feel connected and not connected to it. I am sorry if that was hurtful to anyone but, as Greeks, we need to talk about these issues. If we don’t discuss them who will?

kuroo - scorpio

tsukki's #1 reason for needing to have feelings are these scorpios right here

while yamaguchi is soft baby boy scorpio kuroo is basically daddy scorpio

if you constantly wonder why seeing him makes your mouth water its because of his intense energy

he is SUPER persuasive. very few people would say no to him 

calm, cool, and collected most of the time but get’s ticked off by people who know how to get under his skin

but this guy will hold grudges for years to the point that he vividly remembers how people wronged him

can probably read people like the palm of his hand 

the kinds of people he's attracted to are the ones who are super direct and honest 

also ones that kind of give him a challenge? if u know what i mean ;)

no one is clingier than he is. will literally whine and crawl into people's laps for attention 

he doesn’t look like he cries a lot but he cries on the inside while ‘liability’ by lorde is playing

someone tell him to stop wearing black because it’s Too Much

in conclusion: i think at this point its pretty clear that i ship with tsukishima for legal reasons

kenma - libra 

ohhh boy another libra

just thinking about libras makes me tired

but i find that in terms of personality he's pretty similar with tsukishima which is why i think they'd also be really great friends

kenma likes having things to fixate on and his mind is very active which is why he loves playing games so much

he prefers it when things have a formula or a pattern for him to follow so it would be easier for him to make decisions

he prefers not to rock the boat and let things be 

at the same time he's a very sharp thinker and like our other libras, whatever he says he truly believes in

and since he's very logical and observant, others would believe in what he says

he's motivational in his own way

the kind of person who thinks off good comebacks after an argument is over

blows on game cartridges even though he knows he’s Not Supposed To

although he's more introverted, he's very talkative around people he likes

in conclusion: tsukishima and kenma have a groupchat where they roast tf out of kuroo

yakulev - (leo × scorpio)

angeri boi duo 

both of them bicker constantly and since they have very strong personalities the bickering jus never ends

except for when either lev accidentally compliments yaku or when yaku gets lowkey attracted by how intense lev looks

lev is super fucking clingy and yaku will be a complete tsundere about how much he likes the attention

both of them are hella blunt and honest so no need to beat around the bush 

yaku is hella competitive and will pick fights for the sake of picking fights

at the same time he's extremely tenacious and will stop at nothing to win

he's also very self-conscious of how others see him except for his height since lev mentions it constantly that at this point yaku doesnt give a fuck about it anymore

lev on the other hand is also very competitive but its more of the 'i wanna score a shit ton of points all by myself'

like he doesn't compete against a person directly but he likes achieving a lot of things on his own

unlike yaku, he could care less about what people think of him 

both of them are pillow huggers and neither of them like to talk about That One Time they ended up cuddling each other in their sleep during a training camp

but kuroo has pictures of it on his phone

in conclusion: tbh fire and water sign couples are really intense and i want more yakulev hc's

bokuto - virgo 

okay so my theory is that his moon sign or rising is sagittarius so his virgo-ness isn't as apparent

but some of those virgo traits do shine through

for example his moodines when he's not able to get his spikes through are because he's very conscious of how he performs

he loves being recognized for his achievements 

at the same time he's either really proud of himself or questioning it 

• thanks to some fire or water sign placements he's not an eMOtIonAlLy rEpReSsed virgo

he's very stubborn but also very clear-headed when it comes to his goals

because of that he's such a hard worker but he never forgets to have fun with it

its very hard for him to let go of things, whether they're promises or grudges

he tends to focus more on the positive things though

he has such a great memory and he'll bring up the smallest, most minor details which would surprise everyone but also make them feel touched

he loves going all out during his friends' birthdays 

everyone wants to he his friend because they want a birthday surprise from bokuto

like yachi, he also has a lot of highlighters but that’s because he always borrows one but forgets to give it back so it kinda accumulated

most of his energy is spent taking care of bokuto and being the Best Setter He Can Be

he doesn't hate it though because seeing bokuto happy about his spikes is one more point for their team

he doesn't really express but he's super competitive but in a very sneaky way 

this boy is secretly very chaotic. like his braincell count goes down to one when he's alone

the kind of person who thinks pouring an energy drink into 6 shots of espresso is a good idea

its like groupthink but opposite because the bad decisions just come from him

once in a blue moon he'd agree with his friends' impulsive decisions for the sake of making memories

he really, really loves traveling, especially going to historical sites

takes the best selfies without even trying 

pretty much good at everything. at one point kuroo said that akaashi couldn’t possibly be good at singing on top of everything else and akaashi straight up mariah carey-ed him

only has one highlighter and it barely works

probably the scariest person next to takeda-sensei when he gets angry 

once snapped a pencil in two with his bare hand

Here is a rambly SW5 post I do not expect anyone to read

- So I don’t really need to say much about Ran being gone because I’ve known for over a month that none of the silhouettes could possibly be him (+ he wouldn’t fit in anywhere on the official site, my numbering analysis from way back was correct :/!). I think his only hope for being readded to the series is SW5:XL, because if SW6 goes into Sekigahara territory I imagine they’ll be more concerned with adding characters from that era. Anyway that said, at least give me UNPC Ran Koei. I will take it. I’m desperate :(

(i actually don’t know if I’ll be able to play this game at all bc Ran not existing sends me into a very Bad Emotional State so it will literally depend on how good my mental health happens to be when the release date rolls around. lmao. why am I writing an essay on a game I may or may not play? well,, I don’t know)

- Moving on! Yasuke is actually in!? I’m still a little concerned Koei will mishandle him but also kind of hopeful and I’m probably just worried over nothing. His profile doesn’t seem to be covering up the basics of what is known about his relationship with Nobunaga from history; it at the very least mentions that Nobunaga was “intrigued by his appearance” :’)

- I didn’t expect Koei to change up Magoichi as much as they seem to have done, and to be honest, I’m not a fan of his redesign. Actually his may be the only redesign I don’t like? Mago was never one of my favorites but his old version definitely struck me as having more personality. Anyhow, he kept his voice actor, so maybe he’s not as changed personality-wise...

- I think one of the earlier trailers showed what appeared to younger Nobunaga and Mitsuhide at Honnoji, so the latest revealing that both of them actually age was quite the surprise? Their aged versions look much more like their pre-SW5 incarnations... I’m happy with the designs if nothing else, much less happy how they seem to be handling Honnoji in this game

(why are Nobunaga and Mitsuhide just. meeting up and greeting each other before the battle. it’s supposed to be a surprise attack!? hello?? I am not going to like the Nobunaga/Mitsuhide relationship in this game am I)

- Honestly I am not feeling Mitsuhide’s side of SW5′s story at all, presumably because all of his relationships I enjoy (with Motochika, with Gracia, even with Ran) no longer exist :(

- Speaking of which my main concern with this game is really just that I will have no relationships to latch onto because I obsess over relationships much more than I do over individual characters. Like, Nobunaga is my favorite historical Sengoku person by a long shot, and I think his portrayal in SW5 seems really really good (and to the people who have been saying this: no he is not remotely a goody two shoes shonen hero, that much is already evident in the story bits they’ve shown) -- as much as I love older SW Nobu he was always a very intentionally inhuman character and, while fascinating, I think a more human Nobunaga is a much needed change, but. I don’t have his relationship with Ran to latch onto anymore. I’m so sad?? I am heartbroken

- People are talking at great length about stuff they don’t like so I’m going to talk about the stuff I do like. First of all!! I love Toshiie and I like that maybe SW5 will actually explore Toshiie+Nobu friendship a bit; Toshiie’s redesign is not overly drastic imo but still his best design out of any other SW game so far, and also I’m delighted he keeps his VA because honestly his VA gives me life. (Koei if you readd Ran please give me Toshiie+Ran content)

- I like Hanbei’s new design a lot, even if (or maybe because) it’s quite in line with his old versions, and am also glad he seems basically untouched as a character bc Hanbei did not need changing. I’m also glad for Kanbei’s redesign, and since I frankly never cared much for Kanbei as a character I’m sort of hoping they change him at least a little bit (but it’s also fine if they don’t bc the classic SW Ryoubei relationship is very cute regardless). Also I sincerely hope Hanbei+Nouhime friendship is still a thing, even with this very different new Nou...

- While I’m not very interested in what little we’ve seen so far of the story bits for new Ieyasu (cute design, I guess, but that’s all?), new Hideyoshi is actually kind of endearing and I like that they’re kind of leaning more on a country bumpkin depiction for him ahaha. It’s cute :’) oira

- Also! Still really love Sena, her determined personality feels refreshing and I really like her design; I don’t personally expect to care much for her core relationship with Ieyasu but hopefully there’ll be something else for her? Hopefully? Could we get like... Cute Sena+Oichi friendship content. That’s what I want out of this game at this point tbh

- Mitsuki actually seems cute and her supposedly father-daughter-like relationship with Nobunaga has potential to be sweet, so I am tentatively hopeful for her too (also she is a punchgirl which is of course always a bonus)
