Summary: He’s seen people like him before. He’s watched them all: lost souls still tethered to the world, searching for something that had been denied them in life and they now seek in death. They wander the earth day after day, year after year, century upon century, until they can no longer remember the reason they linger. And then they come here, to this little shop of his stuck between life and death, and he ushers them back into the cycle of reincarnation. (or: Wei Wuxian works at a tea shop in the afterlife.) Kay's comments: Just found this story again after reading it years ago and absolutely loving it and even more delighted to see that it absolutely holds up. It's just perfect. Wei Wuxian is stuck in the afterlife serving people Mengpo's soup. One day, he's serving Lan Wangji too. They don't remember each other. (Can you hear the sound of my heart breaking?) Don't worry though, there's a happy ending! Excerpt: He's not sure what finally tips him over the edge. The next time the man comes into his shop and walks up to the counter, he's waiting for him with a bowl already on the counter and a smile plastered on his face. The man frowns. "I did not order this," he says. "Rules of the house," he lies. "You've been here for centuries. It's time." The man shakes his head. "No, I am still looking for someone." The determination in his voice stirs something akin to admiration—or perhaps pity—in his chest. "I know they will come, sooner or later. I will wait." "What if they've already gone ahead without you?" he asks. "Then the last few centuries would have been for nothing." Doubt creeps into that perfectly sculpted face and he feels a sharp pain in his own heart at the sight. "Then I will wait here until his next life is over," he says. "However long it takes. I will wait."

Ayyy I've been meaning to get around to this for days but hey, a whole week has passed and it's Sunday again so here goes! 😁

I haven't written in uhhh... a while... but I do have a fic that is in progress (and that I AM going to finish at some point) and yeah... it's a smutty one... 😂

B: Like it. Not one of my bigger cravings, but it can scratch a certain itch if I’m in the right mood.

This is very polarizing for me honestly. On the one hand, I love a good friends-to-lovers, which is... essentially what this is? But with all the added intimacies you pick up by living with someone. And I do really enjoy that kind of a story! But more and more lately, the part of me that's aro/ace... let's just say that it doesn't always sit right. That of COURSE the friend or the roommate or whoever is going to become a lover in the end, because that's the only valid and acceptable happy ending a lot of media accepts. That being friends isn't ENOUGH. Of course, they have to be lovers. So, yeah. I'll give it a 'B' because historically I've liked the trope and still kind of do... but more and more lately it sits like a lead weight in my stomach, so I'm not sure what to do about that. :P

(I know you're not into Dao Mu Bi Ji, @besanii, but for those of my followers who are, this is a LARGE part of the reason why I'm never really comfortable interpreting Pangzi and Wu Xie as lovers. Like... they are SUCH GOOD FRIENDS. They are LITERALLY EVERYTHING TO EACH OTHER... except lovers. But somehow that's not enough? And it kicks me in my soft, vulnerable places in ways I can't protect against to think that being a friend will never ever ever be enough and that relationship will never be valid unless they're also romantically and sexually involved.)

A little happier with this one, because it's kind of the opposite? It's "I thought we were just fucking, but OOPS, I CAUGHT FEELS, WHAT DOOOOOO???" But it's kind of treading all over the same line, just in a differnet way, so it gets the same rating. I also just mostly find this one harder to connect to? Like... I would never look at a friend or anyone, for that matter, and think "Hot Damn, being friend is Not Enough, we should fuck." Like... I'm mostly sitting here confused thinking "why are you wasting your time fucking when you could be doing literally anything else with your friend that is not that?" So while I enjoy it as a thought exercise, I never quite get into it. O_o;;;

It definitely takes getting used to! But I find present tense is fun to write in and tends to make the tone of the fic livelier and faster-paced?

Yeah, I mean that’s the idea, that it’s more immersive and immediate.  That’s why I chose it for this series, but ugh, it’s a struggle.
