I played in a local pokémon card competition yesterday and this is what my end of the table looked like
I think I went up against the best player there in the first round then tied for last bc we ran out of time in the second round when we both had 1 win
#they were supposed to be good luck. well I got bodied by marnie twice#looker you are supposed to be a COUNTER TO MARNIE#croagunk punching pachirisu card is really funny to bring to a competition though. get out of here#take your berry and leave#looker#croagunk#raichu

Watching a "How good was [pokemon]" series talking about how pokemon did in competitive and it's always funny how positive this guy is when a terrible pokemon gets kicked to the lowest tier. "Once it went to the doodoo trash tier for shit pokemon, it absolutely kicked ass and destroyed everything in its wake. It was a force to be reckoned with and was a massive success in the tier" hell yeah
#TRULY I hate people who are like 'competitive is bad you're supposed to use your favorites' well you can. Firstly.#And secondly. THERE'S TIERS. Like your little bug probably isn't beating mega garchomp#but you can pit it against things in its own league#or you can fucking get creative and use your favorite pokemon in the highest tier. No one can stop you#berry Pachirisu.

Do you have facts on emolga?
Emolga Facts
-The scientific name for Emolga is "Glaucomys glidus" which roughly translates to "gliding grey rat"
-Emolga are electric rodents with their closest relatives being Pachirisu. They are both squirrels and, unlike Pachirisu, they have developed membranes under their arms, known as Patagia, that allow them to glide
-Emolga are omnivores, and eat nuts, berries, and bugs. They are more likely to hunt for berries, as getting into battles with bug types can waste a lot of energy
-Emolga live in groups of 10-15 other Emolga; all sharing a tree. They tend to segregate themselves by gender, and only come together to mate
-Did you know that Emolga are actually Marsupials? Females have a pouch on their belly, where young baby Emolga who are to young to glide on their own will stay
-Emolga are nocturnal. You can spot an Emolga when you see a (yellow) electric ball gliding over you at night
-In some legends, Emolga are actually described as ghosts! The stories most likely stem from the fact that, in the dark, they look like electric will-ó-the-wisps
-Emolga use their long tails to help steer when flying. If an Emolga loses its tail, it will be unable to fly properly
-Like most other electric rodents, or just any small electric type, the electric type was given to them because their main predators consists of flying-type birds. Having an advantage over them, like thr electric typing, allowed their species to survive
-When gliding, Emolga's large ears will go into "airplane mode", where they become pinned down to the back of their head. Having their ears in airplane mode allows them to glide faster
-While Emolga do mostly glide, being flying types, Emolga are able to manipulate wind currents, which does make them able to "fly" in a sense. It's more just getting support from the wind so, they can glide without getting much momentum before
-Emolga are attracted to thunderstorms because they can store energy from the lightning that strikes. Sometimes, it can cause problems, and the Emolga will end up blocking out the sky
-Emolga have a sweet tooth and will hunt out the sweetest berries and foods they can find
-They're very vocal and scream a lot. It's very cute, but please remember that they are nocturnal, and you will be hearing a lot of screaming at night

DCA Pokémon Teams (Part 1)
Hello everyone! Remember that post I made about the DCA girls having Pokemon teams? Well, I decided to remake them, as well as explain the reason why each Pokémon was chosen. This was also particularly inspired by silvermoon424’s Sailor Trainers post. This post will go over the first 5 dorm leaders: Evonie, Ella, Allison, Briar and Cerule.
Evonie Apfel 🍎
For Evonie, it’s mostly the same as the first one, minus the apple and berry motif Pokémon. I honestly don’t think I need to explain why each Pokémon chosen, all of them are forest animals due to Evonie’s connection to animals, so I’ll just explain them personality wise.
Pachirisus are stated to have hyperactive and playful personalities, so for Evonie it would be like babysitting a mini Allison albeit less annoying because it resembles a squirrel.
Deerlings are stated to be very timid Pokémon but I think Evonie would get along well with it due to her preferring the company of animals since they care about her for her personality and not her appearance.
Tailliow are known for their courageous personalities and their refusal to back down, kinda matches Evonie’s competitive personality.
I merely picked Turtwig, Buneary and Zigzagoon for aesthetic purposes.
Ella Glaciel 👠
For Ella’s team, I wanted to reference her sophisticated upbringing and Pokémon that could be a reference to Cinderella. As well as giving an overall princess-like aesthetic.
Diancie was an easy choice, it straight up looks like a princess, especially in its Mega Evolution form.
Maushold are an obvious reference to mice, both in Disney’s Cinderella and Ella’s animal companions.
Swablu was chosen for three reasons:
Cinderella’s bluebird companions in the original 1950 film.
Ella is strongly associated with bluebirds. From her bluebird brooch in her 3rd edition redesign to a bluebird jewelry set her late mother created as a parting gift to her prior to her passing.
Its cloud wings can be an homage to Dancing on a Cloud, a deleted song from the original 1950 Cinderella film.
Sylveon was picked for a matching color palette and it’s pretty obvious that Ella would want this Eeveeloution. Plus it’s very kind and gentle, much like Ella herself.
Ribombee was chosen for aesthetic purposes.
Gardevoir was chosen for its feminine appearance to reference Ella’s lady-like nature.
Allison Liddel 🐰
Allison’s team consists of Pokémon that match her personality.
Gengar was unsurprisingly chosen for its mischief-making nature, which is a perfect match for Allison.
Polteageist references the sentient tea pots in the Futterwacken Dorm.
Mr Mime is meant to reference Allison being in the theater club.
Bunnelby was chosen for aesthetic purposes.
Munchlax was chosen for its love for food, much like Allison.
Meowth was chosen for aesthetic purposes.
Briar Auroria 🌹
For Briar’s team, I wanted to embody beauty and nature together, so most are grass and fairy types.
Roselia was chosen for its appearance, namely its pink and blue roses, as well as it being described as very serene.
Dartrix references the owl who dressed up as Princess Aurora’s “dream prince”.
Jigglypuff was chosen for its affinity for sleeping as well as singing.
Cottonee was chosen for its resemblance to a fluffy pillow.
Floette was chosen for aesthetic purposes.
Due to possessing powerful fairy magic, I decided to give Briar a legendary: Cresselia, not only for its appearance but the fact that it is said that Cresslia has the ability to dispel nightmares.
Cerule Oceana 🐠
All of Cerule’s Pokemon are water types, that’s it. Okay okay, let me explain:
Gyarados and Milotic were both chosen for their respective personalities and appearances as a way to reference Cerule’s parents.
Dewgong references Bobble, Cerule’s pet seal.
Starmie and Primarina were chosen for aesthetic purposes.
Spheal was chosen since I felt Cerule would want this Pokémon.

Allo! nice to see 'nother electric rodent owner on here. what are parischu like? my dad recently got one 'n they're so cute, but I don't know much about their care needs
Hi!! Patch is a sweetheart. I got him when I was young, so he's well behaved for the most part. Like most electric types, you have to be careful of the electricity they store in their body (Patch keeps it in his cheeks and tail). Plus, pachirisu create electrified balls of fur. When they're wild, the balls of fur are used to protect berries or other food they've collected. With Patch, they're more of little nuisances you find around like hairballs from a skitty.
I will say, I hope your dad has a large enough living space for a pachirisu. They're small but need to climb and run around. I know firsthand how messy things can get if they don't have much to climb around on. The little dorm I'm staying in during my time here certainly isn't big enough and we've had quite a few mishaps.
But they're really the cutest things and usually very friendly with people!! I couldn't ask for a better partner :)

#417. Pachirisu
It makes fur balls that crackle with static electricity. It stores them with berries in tree holes.
Colour and symbol charts can be found here.
A note on colours: in my experience, floss looks different irl than in online pattern makers. If you think a different colour will work better, go with your gut!

Would A Pachirisu Be A Good Pet?
A pachirisu would not make the best pet for most owners. Despite their small size and chipper attitude, pachirisus pose a risk as an electrical hazard in your home. That being said, unlike some electric-types, pachirisus seem to be able to control their electric charge, which means that with training they could make a good pet.
To begin with, you should make sure not to touch your pachirisu’s cheeks or tail. Much like the more famous pikachu, pachirisus store and channel electricity through their tail and pouches in their cheeks (Pearl). In the past, it was speculated that the two species were related (Legends: Arceus), but the data seems inconclusive on if this is really the case or if this is just an example of convergent evolution.
Pachirisus use the electricity in their cheeks to perform a barrage of threatening electric-type moves that they can unleash through their tail. Moves like Nuzzle and Discharge can inflict paralysis on their target, and they can lash out with literal bolts of lightning with Thunder.
Caring for a pachirisu would require creating a specialized environment to allow them to comfortably simulate their natural behavior without causing harm to you or other pets. In the wild, pachirisus live in the trees (Pearl), gathering berries and hoarding them in tree holes so that they always have a secure food source (Diamond). You would need to provide your pet with either a real or simulated tree (something like a cat tree) to climb and store their food in. Be careful though, as pachirisus protect their stocked food with statically charged furballs (Diamond)! Pachirisus often rub their cheeks together in order to share stored electricity (Platinum). To prevent your pet from mistakingly doing this to you, you should provide them with an alternative, like a plushie or substitute, to discharge onto.
Adopting a pachirisu as a pet is certainly not going to be a walk in the park, but those who are willing to invest in a lot of intensive training and creating a safe, engaging environment for them may be able to handle them.

Unlikely Friends
After meeting in a PokéCentre, a Garchomp and a Pachirisu have become the best friends. The pair have become inseparable, with their trainers now meeting as often as possible to let them play together.
“We’re not sure why,” Pachirisu’s trainer explains “but they’re both so happy together.”
Garchomp’s trainer says “they basically burst out of their Pokéballs as soon as they hear each others cries”
This adorable pair continue to meet as often as possible, and are fond of sharing berries and watching other Pokémon play.

Cole's Pokémon - Main team
#417 - Pachirisu ♀ Name: Cheesecake Type: Electric Ability: Volt Absorb
Original Trainer: Nicolas Met on Nabiki Beach at level 5.
Naughty nature. Alert to sounds. Likes spicy food. Dislikes bitter food.
Held item: Sitrus Berry
Preferred moves: Nuzzle - The user attacks by nuzzling its electrified cheeks against the target. This also leaves the target with paralysis. Covet - The user endearingly approaches the target, then steals the target's held item. Dig - The user burrows, then attacks on the next turn. It can also be used to exit dungeons. Rain Dance - The user summons a heavy rain that falls for five turns, powering up Water-type attacks. The rain also lowers the power of Fire-type attacks.
Cole met Cheesecake for the first time back when he was still studying in Almia, having rescued her during a particularly dangerous storm. The two of them quickly bonded over the fact that they’re both gluttons, and while Cole wouldn’t be allowed to take her with him as his partner Pokémon until after he graduated, they remained close in the meantime and since then they’ve basically been inseparable. She’s a very mischievous Pokémon, liking to play pranks on people with her electric powers, but at the same time she has a good head on her shoulders and usually knows the limits she shouldn’t cross.
Her ability to store and generate electricity makes her not only very useful as a light source but also allows her to charge batteries and manipulate electronic devices to a certain extent. She can start fires, which is particularly important during long journeys due to Sinnoh’s cold climate, but for safety reasons she’s been taught how to manipulate the weather and summon localized rain clouds so that she can easily put out flames as well. In battles, she focuses more on supporting her allies rather than doing the heavy lifting herself and specializes in inflicting paralysis to slow down her opponents.
She’s named Cheesecake because Cole had just visited a dairy farm in Vientown right before meeting her and happened to be thinking about cheese. She’s actually not a very big fan of dairy products.
#474 - Porygon-Z Name: Gingerbread Type: Normal Ability: Adaptability
Original Trainer: Saturn Met on Veilstone City at level 20.
Quirky nature. Scatters things often. No food preferences.
Held item: Thunder Stone
Preferred moves: Lock-On - The user takes sure aim at the target. This ensures the user's next move does not miss that target. Hyper Beam - The target is attacked with a powerful beam. The user must rest on the next turn to regain its energy. Conversion - The user changes its type to become the same type as the move at the top of the list of moves it knows. Teleport - The user switches places with a party Pokémon in waiting, if there is any able to battle. If a wild Pokémon uses this move, it flees.
Gingerbread was a Pokémon rescued by Aaron while investigating an abandoned Team Galactic base and given to Cole so that the two of them could research together a way to stabilize this strange specimen’s code, with a decent amount of success. Gingerbread doesn’t really have a voice to communicate with, so Cole taught them to imitate his voice so that they can have conversations (which he does find pretty weird), and when they do communicate they show themselves to be very humorous with a habit of saying non-sequiturs that most people don’t quite understand.
During ranger missions and investigations, Gingerbread tends to be particularly useful as a motion detector, picking up on electromagnetic energy radiating from objects and living beings so that they can quickly be alerted by sudden changes. Since they don’t need to breathe and can phase through solid barriers, they’re particularly useful for rescue missions in hostile environments, and their ability to convert their texture to match nearby objects means that they can also be relied on to identify unknown substances. In battle, they have the very reliable tactic of firing huge laser beams.
Cole named them Gingerbread because he thought that their almost-cartoonish appearance reminded him of gingerbread men, but the truth is that he’s always thinking about food.
#about: cole#pokemon: cheesecake#pokemon: gingerbread#this one's REALLY SHORT compared to all the others#but cole's a ranger not a gym challenger#2 pokemon is all he needs

My partners are pachirisu, snover, and sneasel! They're a strange group but I love them. Pachi is team leader, Snover is a shy bean that clings to his big bro (and the instigator) Sneasel
Snover is a pokemon I don't get to speak about as much which is such a shame.
Snover is actually very helpful for snow traveling trainers and explorer's.
They can help so much with survival due to the berries they can grow on their backs. They don't freeze, and while they might be cold in the summer, berries that grow in their underbrush on their head are slightly warmer.
Their eyesight is really good in the snow, and they are use to rooting and moving through heavy snowfall and blizzards, along with Abomasnow, and you could ride on one through a blizzard.
They can do very well in the heat too, as their roots and create permafrost in Shaded areas, so they amazingly can spark growth in droughts.
They are a pretty underrated pokemon, and I wish more people knew of them.

I'm considering catching a Houdour, any tips?
General notes:
The houndour is a decent pokemon for those who can control it, but its evolved form requires a LOT of care and attention.
General care:
This line is a fairly simple canine type pokemon, and as such its care reflects that, with a good quality kibble providing perfectly fine nourishment. Treats such as organ meat and bones are also excellent, and though houndoom is much more carnivorous, houndour have been known to enjoy small amounts of foods such as squash, pumpkin and watmel berries. Take care not to provide too many treats, especially not human foods which are often full of fat and salt, and this can cause pancreatitis.
As a fire type, some kind of fire proofing is essential, especially when its young. Young houndour often struggle to control their fire, especially around the 2-5 month range. A fire extinguisher is very useful to have, ideally one in each room.
This entire line is very intelligent, and requires a lot of enrichment and play. Toys and puzzle boxes are excellent choices. A bored houndour is dangerous.
Houndoom horns can sometimes catch on things, especially inside, and many trainers use horn caps. The ridges on their body are made of exposed solid bone, and as such houndoom require more calcium. Their horns grow continuously over their lifetime, and an elderly houndoom may require surgical shortening as they start to weigh them down. In the wild, they don't live long enough for this to become an issue.
Overall, the houndour line isn't too difficult to care for.
Care rating: Green
Training:
HOUNDOOM ARE AGGRESSIVE. This cannot be stated loudly enough. They are an aggressive pokemon with a HIGH prey drive. If you intend to keep it as a house pet, you will have to rehome any smaller prey pokemon. The most you can do is train them to not attack immediately but one sudden or twitchy move and there will be tragedy.
Battling partners have an easier time as it spends longer with them, and has slightly stronger instincts for "this is my clan mate we fight together" but even so I wouldn't put a houdoom next to a prey pokemon in a doubles tournament. Even raising a houdour with a prey pokemon is potentially dangerous. It's all fun and games until your pachirisu is startled by a loud noise and triggers an instinctive lunge.
Houndour are less aggressive but may try and push their luck against you. Make sure you don't let them push you around.
Moving on from that serious warning, when it comes to young houndour, it is essential to make sure you know the difference between deliberately lighting a fire, and a fire started by an accidental sneeze. These are very smart pokemon, and punishing it for "nothing" will cause grudges. In the case of accidental fires, the houndour is likely as startled and frightened as you. Take care of the fire then provide comfort. If it was deliberately lit, pokeball it. If done well, a houndour pup will feel comfortable running to fetch you if it accidently starts a fire, which is a VERY good thing for it to learn.
This pokemon line requires a lot of care and effort to train. You cannot ever allow it to slip into bad habits. No matter how much you love and trust your houndoom, you must always be mentally present when dealing with it. Failure to maintain control can lead to tragedy. A particularly dangerous pokemon might wind up euthanized
Training rating: Red
Safety:
The houndoom is technically venomous. Though not classed as a poison type, glands in its jaws produces a nasty, highly flammable toxin. This substance, when applied through flames or through a bite, causes severe, long lasting pain. Though the claim it "lasts forever" is perhaps an exaggeration, people have reported it taking years for the issues caused by the venom to fully subside. There are a number of support groups for people who've wound up on the wrong side of a houndoom, as well as groups swapping care tips for their injured pokemon.
As well, fire types require a lot of care and alertness.
Safety rating: Red
Overall ranking.
Though they have their moments and can be as cuddly and loving as any pokemon, their aggressive tendencies and high prey drive means houndour and houndoom aren't exactly beginner pokemon. When well trained and controlled, they are excellent pokemon, whether battling, securing buildings or playing, but when allowed to run rampant, they're an accident waiting to happen.
