I don’t know if you know what The Magnus Archives is (it’s a horror podcast, it’s really good I absolutely recommend it! It has gay people and an asexual protagonist (who is also very autistic-coded!)) but I feel like since Jack K listens to podcasts that he’d be quite a big fan of it. If he manages to get others into it, I think that Natalie might also be into it? If you ever start listening to it, let me know what you think.

Well, my first obvious answer would be Ciero - but that's a bit too easy...

...so, I'm gonna say Bentley.

Bentley isn't Patrick's kid by blood. Hell, he didn't know they existed for the first decade and a bit of his life, but...

...as soon as Bentley came into Ciero's custody, he just...

...he saw a bit of himself in this kid, a scared, broken kid that just needed some help.

And he was willing to give them that.

I’ve been thinking about a vampire AU, so here are my current ideas/notes about it. Let me know what you think. (Thsi may be multiple parts, so apologies if it turns out to be.)

General vampirism rules in the EHA universe: (a) Vampires can age, however age very very slowly. A born-vampire, or youth-turned, will age normally until age 21, then begin the very slowed aging process (eg. A 50 yr old will look around 30, or so). (b) Vampires are not too common, but they also aren’t rare. Those that are vampires have to keep their state-of-being under wraps, as not to alert scientists, who tend to get grabby and very experimental. (c) Vampires are very tough beings. They can go through a lot, and not a single scratch will appear on their body. Octavian used to take advantage of this a lot and jump off high buildings (late at night) for the adrenaline, especially during manic episodes.

The (biological/born) Windroe family are vampires. They are generational vampires, with the vampirism going down decades/centuries, and the general tradition was for two vampires to marry, and have kids.

When Elspeth wanted to marry River, a human; it follows normal EHA canon and she is forced to marry Richard, a vampire, from a very wealthy family.

Elspeth and Richard then had four kids, Zephyr, Octavian, Ciero, and Favio, made only to prolong the vampirism in the Windroe family line.

Richard died from an unknown assailant shooting him with a silver bullet. To this day, his murderer is unknown.

Those married into the Windroe family, who are not vampires, are a very new development, and only one (so far) has been changed into a vampire since.

Patrick was turned when Ciero found him after his attempt. He was almost certainly going to die unless he got medical treatment immediately, and since that was not available, Ciero did what she thought was the next best thing, and changed him into a vampire.

Everyone found out what Ciero did as Patrick started going through the initial “feral” stages of turning. She got into quite a lot of trouble because of it.

Jack G is not a vampire, his sister, Jill, is, though (she got turned when they both lived in London, they were both 18 and close to their departure date to go to America). Zephyr has taken a very strong liking to Jack, and has actively talked about turning him.

Frankie is not a vampire, and isn’t too sure if he believes Elspeth when she says she is one. He’s unsure if he wants to get turned, though.

I’m not too sure if Mira would be, I don’t think so, but I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Jack K was born a half-vampire; his mother was a vampire and his father was a human. Jack was fully-turned by his mother a year before his enucleation, it’s unclear why she did it, but his turning did save him from almost dying. He really enjoys hunting, it’s oddly calming for him.

Olly is a half-human half-vampire, like Natalie. She knows what she is and has no current plans to fully turn.

Bentley is a vampire, both of his parents were vampires. He knows what he is, and is… okay with the fact. He can’t really change it now, can he? At least he can talk to Jane about it and get some tips for better dealing with it.

Jane is a born vampire to two, now dead, vampire parents. She isn’t too sure whether to like or hate her state of being, but at least her new parents have some good tips!

Natalie is a dhampir; a half-human, half-vampire. She isn’t aware of this, however. If she were to become aware of it, I think she’d want to stay as she is, not too sure, though. Any thoughts you have are appreciated.

Toby and Cody are probably vampires? They may’ve been turned after the car crash? I genuinely have no idea.

Jay is a vampire. He was forcefully turned against his will. It was one of the most painful and traumatic moment of his life. He hates being a vampire, and has tried to starve himself multiple times. It’s also really sucky because it means he can’t practice Islam with Naveedah (spelling?).

Brian is a vampire. He uses his immortality for evil, he loves setting fire to shit and walking out mainly unharmed. He also very much enjoys the hunt.

Doby might be human? Again, I don’t know. Kate smells like a human, but it’s hard to definitively tell.

And, everyone else is human.

Ooh, Mira would probably be some kind of lycanthrope, I feel...

I also feel like Natalie would be a werewolf too, however... purely bc her uncle James is very werewolf coded to me.

I love this idea, anon. And I'm actually half convinced to start a blog with this concept tbh...

Probably either movie marathons or game nights.

Movie marathons consist of Back to the Future, the Bill and Ted quadrology, Breakfast Club, and the original and prequel Star Wars trilogies.

Game nights are full of Mario kart, animal crossing, scrabble, trivial pursuit, and Cluedo.

Jack K helps Jack G make Christmas cakes every year. Xe pours the fruit and almonds into the bowl. Jack G handles the brandy.

Sometimes, Jack sits with Bentley and listens to them type up some HTML. The kid has a sort of rhythm that comes through when clicking away.

Jack has dog shamed Seed before for getting herself locked in a pantry and eating all the snacks.

Does Bentley get along well with his parent? Oooo~! And are they supportive of Ciero’s gender identity? Is Ciero supportive of their (B) gender identity?

They get along.

While it is a little rocky at first, the two bond over a shared love of chickens and sci fi.

Ciero and Bentley are incredibly supportive of each others gender identities.

Would Jack K ever dress Bentley or Olly (or Kit if he ever meets his piblings and cousins) up in the way that he does? How would both Olly/Bentley react and the parents?

Bentley and Jack already have a lot of overlap in their fashion choices, so there isn't much that can cause a reaction in parents.

Kit also shares some stylistic simarities.

Olly, however, has a lot of rambunctious scallywag outfits, so her dressing like Jack would be a real shock to her fsmily. But it would be welcomed.

I’ve been thinking about my endometriosis headcanon, lately so here. Sorry for the length! - Activist Jack K anon

It took until Favio’s total hysterectomy to find out he had endometriosis. His Grandma and Nana always told him that periods were meant to be painful (they both had endometriosis, too, so painful periods were normal to them), so he never sought medical advice and dealt with the pain as it came. Luckily, Favio’s endometriosis pain came only when he was menstruating or ovulating, it wasn’t constant.

When his uterus, ovaries, and such were removed, it was found that Favio had stage two endometriosis—it had initially started as stage one but progressed to stage two, and fortunately stayed that way. (Not all cases of endometriosis go through all stages. Some stay at one stage forever, some are at one stage and move up, and others may move down. Everyone’s bodies are different.) Luckily, Favio’s endometriosis has been in remission since he had his hysterectomy (Yes, you heard me correct! No, a hysterectomy is not a cure for Endo, there isn’t one, but most people who have had their uteruses removed noticed their Endo went, too. It can come back, though.)

Favio’s symptoms:

Painful menstrual cramps, and back pain

Abnormal/heavy flow, it was common for Favio to bleed through clothes

Had some degree of infertility, he got “lucky” with his pregnancy with Kit

Painful urination during menstrual periods

Nausea during menstrual periods

During menstrual periods

Favio was usually able to get by, of course, it hurt and sometimes he’d be rendered immobile by his cramps, but once he had dealt with it for a while (years), you can just tune out the pain. There have been a few times where Favio has actually fainted because of his menstrual pain, but it wasn’t common.

It took five years of doctors brushing Jack off before he actually got diagnosed—he had to go private purely for a diagnosis.

Because of how long it took to actually be listened to and actually diagnosed, his endometriosis had developed into stage four (It’s my headcanon, therefore I make the rules /hj). It affects xyr uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries— xe has no (known, at least) endometriomas (ovarian cysts). (Playing with the idea of making his endometriosis pain persistent/chronic. He’s already going through a lot, so probably not.)

It took a good while (months at the least, years at most) for any treatment. Xe currently has a pain management doctor, endocrinologist, and some PRN pain medications that xe takes during flares.

Jack’s symptoms:

Painful menstrual cramps and back pain

Abnormal/heavy menstrual flow

Painful urination and bowel movements during menstrual periods

Nausea and vomiting during menstrual periods

Fatigue

Bloating

During menstrual periods

Jack actually struggles a lot. He is usually rendered immobile and has to curl up in the fetal position for minutes on end. Xe has fainted; vomited; been unable to move; spent minutes, even hours, crying and screaming into his father’s shoulder, and more whilst on xyr menstrual period. Has bled through clothes a few times.

Bentley currently has stage one endometriosis, he got his menstrual period around the same age as Jack (ten) and was quite lucky with his early diagnosis. They got their diagnosis when they were with Ciero and Patrick because whenever they complained of painful menstrual pains, Alice would brush them off, as said before, she was not the best mother.

Their endometriosis affects their uterus and plans to go on birth control as a way to alleviate symptoms. As for now, they only have PRN pain medications.

Bentley’s symptoms:

Painful menstrual cramps

Bloating

Abnormal/heavy menstrual flow

Nausea/vomiting during menstrual periods

Lower back pain

Fatigue

During menstrual period

Much like Favio, he can usually soldier through, but does have his down moments where he is unable to move due to immense amounts of pain. They have fainted and vomited due to period pain before, as well as bleed through clothes due to their flow.
