imagine you're Maedhros, you're at least thousand years old, have survived (and took part in) several kinslayings, survived the Horrors™ and are trying to recruit a reclusive elven people to join your fight only to end up being violently humbled by said elven people's princess who happens the elven equivalent of a 13 year old at the time.
anyway i was thinking about the one time Narien meets Maedhros while he was still alive and how much of a menace she was about it (she absolutely had a crush on him but you'd have to pry that info from her cold dead hands). i did write a short story about their meeting but idk if it will ever see the light of day

Hi! I love your art!
Is there anything non-spoilery you can say about Choso in the atla au? 🥺
WAAAhh thank u !!! tbh as fond as I am of the design I came up with for him in this au there's.....really not much to say abt him either....he's a pretty minor character but because of the nature of the role he /does/ play there's not much non-spoiler material involving him that isn't just . the same as canon :'<
however in the interest of not leaving u high and dry here is a rare excerpt from the Lore Scroll and a quick draws of him looking menacing for u ! i hope that will suffice in lieu of Actual Information <3

He is furious.
Volga storms into Cia’s lair, shoving monsters and minions out of his way as his gut burns with rage. His mind is focused on only one thing, and nobody dares try and stop him as he approaches the sorceress. Cia is reclining idly on a chair as he enters, but Volga is unconcerned with whatever she’s doing, striding to her side as his chest heaves with anger.
“Oh Volga, I didn’t expect you back yet,” Cia hums, sounding only mildly interested. “Was your mission a success?”
Volga glares at her.
“You knew he was my son.”
Cia slowly blinks, and she flicks her gaze up, red eyes unreadable.
“Who?”
Volga slams his spear into the floor, a snarl escaping his lips. “The Hero. He is my son. And you did not see fit to divulge this information to me.”
“Oh that,” Cia hums, resting a hand on her staff, almost casually. “It never came up.”
“He claims you told him,” Volga hisses, feeling the urge to shift into his dragon form and demand answers. “Weeks ago. You saw it fit to inform him, and yet kept this information a secret from me?”
Cia has the audacity to laugh.
“It changes nothing,” she says with a wave of her hand, meeting his gaze. “I knew it would serve only as a distraction to our goals. That is why I informed him, and not you— it now consumes his thoughts, and the Sheikah leader’s as well. Their minds are filled with distractions, which makes them more susceptible to mistakes.”
She strokes a hand along the length of her staff, and her eyes flash.
“And Link is the Hero, and therefore mine. His relation to you is of no concern.”
She waves her hand in a clear dismissal, and turns back to whatever it was she was doing before.
Volga narrows his eyes, smoke trailing from his nose as he stares at her. He had not concerned himself much with Cia’s infatuation, focused only on the goals which she set before him. But now, learning his son is the object of such lust...
There is a different sort of fire in Volga’s chest now, one that he has not felt in nigh over eighteen years. Something that burns not only for himself, but for the hatchling he did not know existed until mere hours ago.
They may be enemies, but the boy is his kin.
And Cia seeks to chain him to her side, without any choice on his part.
“He is not yours,” Volga growls finally, the fire growing in his chest. “I am his kin, and therefore if he is anyone’s, he is mine. I reject your false claim on him.”
Cia’s hand tightens on her staff, and the fire in his heart stalls, a creeping fog overtaking it.
“Make no mistake, dragon,” she says in a low, cold voice. “You are only here by merit of your usefulness. And I do not tolerate meddling with what is rightfully mine.”
The fog creeps deeper, soft and inviting as it spills in. It beckons him to sink into it, but Volga resists, glaring at Cia.
“Witch,” he spits, starting the transformation into his dragon form, “you have no honor, using magic to persuade me. Curse you—”
Volga’s grip on his spear loosens, and he grunts, his transformation stopped as pain ripples up his chest and through his head. The fog follows it, dark and thick as it spills through, and the conversation and reason he had stormed in sink away into it, lost in the mists of his mind.
Cia smiles.
“Leave me, dragon. I have work to do. I will call you when I have another mission that requires your skill.”
Volga grunts again, a distant buzz of pain in his head. His anger is gone now, the fire nothing but embers whisked away by Cia’s magic, and he nods, giving the sorceress a small bow.
Then he turns and leaves the room, Cia watching him go with that same small smile.

an important piece of scoundrel lore is that everyone's OCs in their entirety are all somehow in various ways canon to their personal continuity. yes even if some major OC events directly contradict each other. your character also won the marvellous? what a coincidence, they just so happened to win it as well. killed the vake? suddenly we've jumped ahead to when that happens in the scoundrel's timeline. the last constable is alive? you sent mr transport to the avid horizon? you're also a holder of the robe of mr cards? that's all just firmament-style schrodinger's reality baby

I’m so obsessed with the idea of Avatar Mako (not because I hate women, stfu Korra is still kicking ass, but just water-bending style in this AU) because the idea of an orphaned kid living on the streets, working with gangs, and fighting in underground bending rings while trying to raise his younger brother, not giving a shit about who the Avatar is or where they are, being the Avatar without knowing is so good.
Maybe his parents knew because when he was a kid, they did some little rituals or something to see if he was an earth or fire bender or if he even was one at all. But they never told him (or anyone else) because they were going to wait until he was sixteen, like traditional. So, they just went with fire-bending because of his appearance and because fire is probably more dangerous untrained, and more likely to be done on accident. (I choose to believe fire sneezing is a very real risk)
Anyway, I just.. I love this AU so much.

in my idealized version of the books (the Good timeline), jericho and constantine’s relationship is not the one aaron and calls relationship parallels — it’s constantine and joseph. in this essay i will *gets taken out by cassandra clare’s snipers*
#maybe i’m biased because i like that freak so much. but like.#it is implied joseph did become constantine’s counterweight after jerichos death (or just the only logical reasoning)#there is no way that freak went THAT crazy post constantine’s death without having his soul tied to him at least a little bit#anyway. whatever#calron#magisterium#the magisterium#and idk unpopular opinion. in the way i characterize constantine (with several implications that he has bipolar two and the entirety of the#third mage war was him in a extreme manic state as his entire goal shifted from necromancy to living forever) his relationship with joseph#is absolutely bonkers#allow me to do an insane semi canon half headcanon lore drop in the tags#with my previous hc in mind i think his relationship with joseph often flips from a friend(who admittedly indulges his worst habits#whether subconsciously or not at first) to a lover (REMINDER HES 22.)to a father to a worshipper. all in like the span of a week. FOR YEARS#joseph was likely the only person constantine trusted despite having an army of followers and vice versa#i don’t personally think constantine ever blamed joseph for jerichos death (even if in some ways it was his fault). in his mental state he#physically couldn’t.#also i never said this relationship was healthy#yall ever seen hannibal nbc. where hannibal is high key in love with will and is absolutely devoted to him above all else (even his romanti#relationships)? yeah that. and hannibal is DEVOTED to will regardless of circumstance#hey wait was does that describe. joseph and constantine in my eyes#but WAIT there’s more. who else does that describe? call and aaron. call bending the laws of physics and choosing aaron over tamara at ever#possible moment#OBVIOUSLY. before someone brings it up. yes aaron and call are written to parallel jericho and constantine so they do. they do the whole#necromancy schtick. i’m just saying in my ideal world there would be greater emphasis on constantine and joseph’s relationships that’s only#between the lines in canon#like please can we get an actual reasoning as to why joseph is Like That. WAS IT BC THEY WERE COUNTERWEI#joseph posting#constantine madden#oh wait. the necromancy is paralleled between joseph wanting constantine back (and basically going to great length to do so cough cough#stalking a child)

Ya'know what I just realized? Oh uh spoilers for Natlan's archon quest!
Narratively Natlan makes more sense after beginning of the game. Because it follows the Traveler's weird ability to cleanse the abyss. Like that's a weird ability to have and to long time players? It's been like years for any trace of that to appear again. But if you do Natlan's quest first thing you can, it will be explored and expanded upon pretty soon after it first happens.
Yeah i know. If people went from mondstadt/liyue immediately to natlan then even the writing quality makes sense but canonically we all know its supposed to be fontaine before natlan.
And even if they do expand the cleansing properly, they wont see it for 4 nations so uh...

Summary of Tonia's Fun Happy-Go-Lucky Wholesome Adventure in the Universe of the Honkies:
Tumblr media
Tonia's verse for HI3/HSR interactions is based on three ideas:
Technically, there are multiple worlds named Teyvat, each existing as essentially parallel universes/timelines on the Imaginary Tree.
The dead world "Tevyat" discovered by the IPC is one of those many versions of Teyvat - specifically, the Teyvat that so happens to exist in the same galaxy/universe as the setting for HSR.
The Irminsul in Teyvat is the local physical (somehow) manifestation of the Imaginary Tree itself.
As for Tonia herself, she follows the same premise as her default verse aka she is the lone Eleventh Harbinger, Tartaglia - and a one-of-a-kind hybrid human fused with Irminsul.
Combined with the above ideas, her HI3/HSR verse is as follows:
Typically, her verse takes place an indefinite time after the Tsaritsa's unsuccessful war against the so-called Heavenly Principles, resulting in Teyvat's annihilation. Due to her connection to Irminsul, Tonia is not permitted her final rest in death, and must fulfill the terms of the contract that bound her to the Irminsul in the first place - to be its dutiful servant. To act as an agent of the Imaginary Tree itself.
Understandably, she is not happy with this arrangement that she had no say in at all to begin with, and has essentially fucked off to sulk for eternity.
As such, currently and in conclusion - Tonia is more or less on an indefinite vacation of sorts. With the implicit hope and unsaid expectation that she will eventually pull her shit together and pick up her duties in earnest, someday. Probably.
At least, the Imaginary Tree is patiently content to wait for her, allowing Tonia to do whatever she wants - within reason, and certainly in a way that doesn't interfere too much or too grandly with the great trials of the universe or the narrative conflicts meant to drive survival and evolution of life in its branches.
Other Specifics
Despite the theories mentioned, I'll leave it to speculation/discussion on whether this Tonia's Teyvat is the one discovered by the IPC, or belongs to a whole other universe/timeline altogether. After all, ruined Teyvats are a dime a dozen really. At the very least, she is absolutely not from a "canon" version of Teyvat.
She has 100% died during the final battles against the Heavenly Principles, or otherwise when they undoubtedly pressed their emergency nuke button or some such. All of which is to say she is technically a ghost - intangible, all-soul and no body. However, due to her connections and its authorities, she can create a physical vessel or manifest in a tangible form anywhere she wants; she usually ends up appearing on the physical plane in a physical form regardless.
Due to the indefinite passing of time, she has somewhat mellowed out (read: become an expert in not thinking about it) regarding the literal end of her world and everything she loved as she knew it - making her behave in a somewhat carefree and frivolous way these days, aka how she's always acted back on Teyvat. But that doesn't mean it's not an upsetting matter anymore. After all, if it stopped being so terrible to her, she wouldn't still be on vacation, would she?
Due to technically not being a Harbinger anymore and not having any specific plans or goals whatsoever, Tonia has taken to the timeless hobby of bothering random people at a whim and trying to scam people for their credits or candy or treats or whatever. It's not like she's earning a paycheck anymore from her cushy position in the military after all!
(This verse is open to discussion on some of the finer details - mainly, she doesn't have to be a tonitoni from after the end of the world or anything lol. She could just be super regular bratty tonitoni who took a much more simple, literal vacation in the middle of her Harbinger duties during the events of Genshin's story, for example. Always feel free to reach out to me if you have thoughts!)

phosphor rewatches voltz (the only episode he remembers is 'the bomb') and collects little lore/headcanons/other bits, the post (with links):
warnings for: my taking their silly bits far too seriously, past members who were in voltz, too much focus on xephos, citing reference material supporting my headcanons (i am sorry)
Episodes 1 -5 under the cut
claustrophobic xephos is just cannon, apparently
lalna with no proprioception bashing his way through doors is as well
the sphax battery texture is just a duracell and xephos and lalna know who the soviets are, all lore is canceled everyone go home (its the "pokedex entries reference elephants and india" problem all over again)
these two goofs are just smashing stuff together until something works. it must be hellish to work in a lab with xeph and lalna, honestly. one of them is furiously trying to read the paper for the first time while handling explosives while the other is trying to smash enriched uranium into powder with a hammer.
no specific timestamps, but lalna and xeph never remembering to eat during a science binge is also canon supported, lewis and duncan have spent the multiple episodes nearly starving, feat.: "I am starving to death, ever so slightly."
the simultaneous awkward 'no idea what's going on here' laugh
in this house we baby talk our machines
have we ever had "xeph just canonically has magic" headcanons before? because i almost feel like we should. adds a little spice.
xeph's planet might have had startreck style food creation machines. he certainlly shouldn't be allowed to cook.
the faintly pouty "well you don't feed me!" - i love the idea of xeph who is more comfortable with his friends feeling secure enough to whine about silly things.
another clip to add to the 'xeph is afraid of the dark' pile
the line from lalna like "im used to being invincible, frankly. Um - so I'm not really - y'know - used to having to worry about dying." - working that into my 'reasons lalna put a nuke under rythian's base' personal canon (dont think about the timeline too hard)
xeph tries to smelt uranium which i think gave lalna a heart attack
xeph and lal both with echolalia repeating the same word back and forth across the lab
for your consideration: xephos being scared of bugs. honestly xeph being kind of useless when he's scared is very cute.
lewis considering jumping off a building because he's on low health and hunger and he can just regen to full vs xeph the character considering that action are so different, tonally. we love a horror comedy.
lalna - voted world's worst scientist at lab safety 11 years running
has the shade of xephs eyes changed or am i loosing it a little? they look more royal blue here, where i'd have said they were pale blue in recent content? maybe it's just the lighting engine having updated somewhat over 11 years.
xeph and lalna realise they aren't alone on the server (also xephos proceeds to refer to sips/sjin collectively as spacemen, lorewise - xephos, at the very least, doesn't believe he's the only extraterrestrial on minecraftia, but do they ever call themselves spacemen?)
whats the lore behind this lot feeling the need to murder each other with explosives? did we get a lore reason?
xeph: "if they're not talking to us, they are definitely our enemies" this says a lot about him, as a person i think.

Reminder to self when I've done some more writing: Remind people that I'm canon-strict, what that means, and how I guess it means that I'm reclaiming yet another term that has been rendered as being something akin to negative by the masses. Better known as, a... 'lore purist'. Hi, yes, that's me! Hi, hello, my name is Sae, how do you do?
#[ out of character. ] don't bend or water it down. don't try to make it logical. rather: follow your most intense obsessions mercilessly.#[ honestly-- i love the muses i have /because/ they're wonderful within their canon from pretty much start to finish. ]#[ i don't fall in love with concepts; i fall in love with actual characters. ]#[ i don't love the idea of dorian. i love /dorian/ as he is. everything about him. ]#[ okay so i don't like how they didn't allow us to see him in full glory tevinter robes but there's logic to that choice. i know. i know. ]#[ but i mean it. can there be small things that i dislike? certainly. but they're rarely choices that play into the grand scheme... ]#[ of things. things that weren't included because they don't HAVE to be (ie: his attire). or idle animations. ]#[ they can't spend time on everything. same with solas. and my genshin/hsr muses. ]#[ it usually pertains to little things and never anything big. i don't... remember when i last went 'divergent'. ]#[ because i haven't had a muse where i think the writers/creators lost their way or made sacrifices. ]#[ any way-- all of this to say what i want to say more thoroughly later: leave fanon at the door when you knock on the door of my blog. ]#[ i /elaborate/ on canon. i don't change it. and yes-- i like the lore of DA. i love it even. ]#[ why would i change it? ]#[ i can 'explain away' most accusations of retcons with relative ease with use of canon. the moment that i can't? well. ]#[ then you can make me eat my own words. but until then. here we are. ]#[ my name is sae-- and i'm a proud lore purist. it's what i've always been. and how i've always functioned on my blogs. ]#[ ... since ezio in 2016. and it won't change. i'll adhere to some changes people make for the sake of their characters of course but-- ]#[ if it changes things that adhere to things that pertain to my muses inherently? not really. unless we /really/ talk. ]

im very new to fl so i might be missing some lore things, but why is the vake yearner so desperate to obtain hearts? from my understanding, when you die, the psychopomp there is chill to let you go so long as you show him your sick chess skills. is there something else im missing?
there's one thing you're missing, yes- the vake yearner is a noman!!
Tumblr media
in-game/in fallen london canon, nomen are a christmas-exclusive companion with a special decaying mechanic. they're always made in the image of your FLPC (essentially being a clone of them) and they will almost always die, no matter what, come the end of winter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when your "noman's friend" quality hits zero, the noman melts, and is removed from your inventory forever. there is no way to save it. there is no way to keep it. you can only watch and wait.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there are special challenges to keep the noman alive for an unusually long time (the longest and most difficult of these being the memories of a doubled spring achievement, which requires keeping it alive until early may) but beyond easter, sustaining the noman is pretty much mathematically impossible. it requires an absurd amount of expensive items that will take multiple years of grinding to accumulate, and overall it's just not worth it in the long run.
all nomen die. that's just what they do.
...............except, well, the vake yearner is a special case. she can sustain herself- for the most part- completely independently, with no assistance required from her original self (the scoundrel) nor her makers (the scientist and the academic). additionally, and probably far more importantly, she does not melt. unlike all other nomen, she can last forever provided she has a steady supply of sorrow and blood. she was even created in the middle of summer!
...but she can last forever only if she has a steady supply of sorrow and blood. because if she does melt, well...
that's it. she's done. she's a noman. she's never going to come back. once she dies, she dies for good.
it's just how nomen are.
