Wanna do the roleplay about nane and sed’s relationship? The first time they get married.

(Yeah.)

(The Royal Palace was filled with laughter and chatting. Today is the day that Prince Sed is getting married. Everyone on the planet is excited since this a royal wedding after all. The only ones who aren't excited are the royal bride and groom, who were getting ready.)

Sed: I can't believe I agreed to this.

Ra: Well, you only agreed so Father will stop bugging you, little brother.

Is there a better source of drama than watching a character be pushed to their breaking point?

Like, I joke about it but it really does feel like the secret to make a good story is just "Make a character -> Throw challenge after challenge at them -> See how they react."

There is something...

...just fascinating about knowing how to challenge your character without making it feel like a misery fest and actually making an exploration of how people respond when they reach their limits. How do they reach it? Why do they reach it? Can they make it back? How do they respond? Where do we draw the limit?

This is why the conflict is such a crucial part of a narrative. The walls that you make for your character to face and hopefully overcome is what will test your skill as a writer.

You can't make it too easy because then it becomes anti-climatic, and you can't make it too hard either because then it will feel like you're just torturing your character, and if the breaking point doesn't feel earned it will be like the writer is just trying to force the drama instead of journeying through it.

I've seen a few cases where a character will snap for very mundane reasons and it makes me go "You just wanted to have your cool 'I'm going Super Sayan' moment, you don't really care about this character's emotional struggle." 😑

You gotta find that right balance of what you're gonna throw at your hero and how you're going to explore it for your story.

It's tricky, but if you manage to pull it off, it can lead to some really great storytelling, character study, and theme exploration.

Apparently today is the day MLP: Friendship is Magic premiered 14 years ago

Now I never watched the show before I ended up sitting down with my little cousin and doing so, but it's wild to me the longevity of the show, it transcended eras

When MLP: FIM premiered its contemporaries were Star Wars The Clone Wars, Young Justice, Transformers Prime, Regular Show, Adventure Time, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien, Avengers Eearth's Mightiest Heroes, Scooby-Doo Mystery Incorporated, Phineas and Ferb, Batman the Brave and the Bold, etc

And when it ended, it's contemporaries were Amphibia, Gen: Lock, Harley Quinn, Infinity Train, Rick and Morty, Rise of the TMNT, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Star Wars Resistance, Transformers Cyberverse, Ducktales (2017), RWBY, Ninjago, The Amazing World of Gumball, Ben 10 (2016), etc

Not only that, but it also outlived a number of shows that released after it premiered, like Steven Universe, Ben 10 Omniverse, Voltron Legendary Defender, Gravity Falls, TMNT (2012), The Legend of Korra, Transformers Robots in Disguise (2015), Star Wars Rebels, etc some of which being successors/sequels to shows it was originally airing alongside (Star Wars The Clone Wars-Star Wars Rebels, Transformers Prime-Transformers RID2015, Ben 10 Ultimate Alien-Ben 10 Omniverse)

ben 10 she ra au HAD to be made once i thought of it. rook and ben were so hard to pick which role they'd take- both adora and catra were good fits in my eyes. i ended up choosing ben as catra tho, and rook as adora. at least for now. might do art swapping them, who knows :3c

In married sed au: aside from the siblings and in law who disliked and bullied nane, who are the ones who gets along with her and treat her with respect?

For my take, I am gonna assume taweret and Amun. And for sed’s siblings, it would be ra, shu, and possibly hedeter.

They could be the ones who immediately noticed the mistreatment, and would scold their siblings and in laws for being disrespectful towards nane.

You're right about that. Taweret and Amun would dote on her like she was their own. Ra and Shu are protective of Nane since she basically brought back what's left of their little brother. I absolutely love the idea of Hedeter defending Nane from her family despite being classiest.

I imagine Hedeter telling her siblings and in-laws "Oh, leave the poor girl alone. Don't you all have something better to do than acting like Father owns you something. Really. This house is big enough not to see each other for weeks and you came to her like a pack of ugly vultures."

After saying that, Hedeter offers Nane to have a few drinks with her.
