I've seen mixed thoughts on Belos' death but I think a lot of people are forgetting the absolute build up of suffering for him. Like first of all, he gets punched in the face once and literally has a scar there for 400 years. He has to carve glyphs inside of him which god knows how he knew how to do that. Then he gets addicted to palisman drugs which destroys his insides, making him need more. He can't even keep his human form anymore. So yeah he's basically a drug addict for a good 350 years or so, maybe even longer.
Then he gets given a magic seal which essentially gets rid of the majority of his human form. He has to shed his skin relying on magic and gooy palisman slime. Which probably hurt ngl. Then whatever bones or structure he had left got smashed into a wall by the collector. First he loses his flesh, then the majority of his bones break. BRUH MOMENT. He's a pile of wet goo now and I'm guessing but correct me if I'm wrong, he possessed a deer only to get hit by a car. SECOND BRUH moment.
He's defeated by a bunch of children. He's haunted by Caleb and the many golden guards he killed. He's quite literally dragging his rotten corpse against the ground. We can even see the palisman flesh decay so much, his bones are visible. His face is malnourished and you can visibly see his remaining jaw and bones after the majority getting smashed. Now he possesses Raine and realizes He's a moron. Raine fights back. He acts fucking feral and then merges with the heart. He gets defeated by a teen who has the power of the titan. Now with the last bit of magic he pretends He's "back to normal" only to get his skin burnt through and back to his palisman state but he's literally almost dead. Then he gets disrespectfully curb stomped. The last part may have seemed tame but he literally went through so much and then died. That's satisfying karma. And what's even better is that he was already dying when they stomped on him. He would've died anyway but they went the extra bit to just say a massive fuck you to him.

Remember how they pointed out that Palistrom wood was becoming rarer? Because Belos kept over harvesting it and not giving it time to grow back?
The University’s tree is blue. Its a big ass Palistrom tree

thinking about the possibility of belos ending up in the inbetween realm after being stomped and finally getting what he deserves...
[ ID: A digitally illustrated comic mainly featuring Philip Wittebane from The Owl House. The first panel on the first page is a birds eye view of the inbetween realm, with cubes floating everywhere and a slight disturbance in the water below. The second panel is a close up of that disturbance, which looks to be a whirlpool of some sorts. The third panel follows that, and Philip’s hand is shown forming on the water, with a ““splat” beside it. The fourth panel is a behind view of Philip kneeled over, head to the ground and face obscured. He is in his human form, like how he is seen in Elsewhere and Elsewhen, and is breathing heavily. The fifth panel is still of Philip kneeling, except he has popped up his head and is looking around. He asks, “What is this” but is then promptly cut off by the next panel, which shows a grimwalker hand rising out from the water with a splash. He looks at this with a confused look.
The first panel on the second page is a close up of Philip’s face, a concerned and fearful expression on his face. He blurts out the word “No”. The second panel is spliced into three pieces, and each shows more dead grimwalkers rising from the water. The first shows another hand, the second a fully formed grimwalker with a broken mask crawling towards and reaching out to Philip, and the third yet another hand. The third panel is of Philip trying to back away by crawling while more grimwalker hands shoot up around him. He shouts at them, “G-Get Away!” The fourth panel is a view of Philip crawling back from behind, and a head of a grimwalker can be seen behind him. He yells again, saying, “I said-” but is cut off by the fifth panel where the grimwalker behind him suddenly grabs his arm. The sixth panel is of him looking over his shoulder, surprised. The seventh panel is an above shot of Philip sitting on the water, grinwalkers surrounding him and grabbing each of his limbs. The water swirls below him in a whirlpool motion. He shouts, “Get off me!! Go!!” The eighth panel is a closeup shot of an arm grabbing his shoe and pulling him down, the ninth panel showing the fear in his eyes.
The first panel on the third page is a wide shot of Philip being dragged down under the water, his arm straight up desperately trying to grab something. The water cascades around him, pushing him down even more. The second panel is a closeup of Caleb’s eyes, which are glaring with anger. The third panel is a below view of Philip being dragged down, with Caleb’s hand still tightly grasped around his foot. The fourth panel is a closeup of Philip’s eyes, which are staring in fear. The fifth panel is from Philip’s POV, where Caleb is seen still pulling him down by his ankle, glaring at him. Other grimwalkers are beside him, hands reaching up towards Philip to also help drag him down.
The first panel on the fourth and last page is of Philip being dragged down, a fearful and almost angry expression on his face. He screams, “Caleb! Let-” but does not finish his sentence. The second panel is of Caleb still glaring at him, not saying a word. The third panel is Philip looking at his brother with an unreadable expression on his face, as though he just realized something. The fourth panel is an above shot of Philip finally being dragged down into the depths Dr. Falcilier style, arm out stretched and he sinks. Broken masks of grimwalkers can be seen below him, pulling him down too. The last panel shows the surface of the water in the inbetweens realm, the surface still and finally tranquil. The word “Fin” is written at the bottom of the page. End ID. ]

[Image description: screenshot from The Owl House of King saying: "No one wants to think they've wasted their life following the wrong person." End description.]
The thing about rewatching Hollow Mind, after the finale, is realizing this sentiment isn't just about Belos's followers, or about Luz initially looking up to Philip. In fact, it's just as much about Belos himself.
No one wants to admit you spent years chasing a brother who didn't want to go home. Who wasn't the witch hunter he once claimed to be. Who, in every reincarnation, still won't become the person you wanted him to be.
No one wants to admit that — for the centuries you saw yourself as following your God, doing what He required of you to save humanity's souls, and wipe out the Devil's witchcraft — that you were the only one doing evil. That your devout faith and countless sacrifices were misplaced, and that your former home has moved on from witch hunts anyway.
No one would want to admit any of that, and in combination with Belos's personal obsession with being a hero, it becomes clear he was never going to admit it. Not even on his deathbed. Because that would be nearly four hundred wasted years on his conscience, four hundred years of following the wrong people, and how could he possibly let himself believe that?

the Guards have never met Evelyn because ghost reasons but I know in my heart that any time they see one of the living grimwalkers get a crush they just do a peace sign to the heavens like "still living on, Evelyn!" and Caleb always looks like some mix of confused, offended, and mildly touched. 1, 2, 4, 5, 6

re: worst timeline princess au. i am envisioning belos dragging a shell-shocked luz thru the new england woods in the dead of night. the first sign of civilization they come to is a set of train tracks. belos is not actually 100% clear on the difference between cars and trains, and thinks you can flag down a train like it’s a taxicab. luz is in no position to correct him.
so belos steps forward confidently onto the tracks. raises his arm to hail the train. and just gets fucking bodied. fully wile e. coyote’d. the man is GONE.
luz doesn’t even understand what just happened until the entire train has passed her by. someday she will tell hunter and they will both laugh in a way that is deeply concerning to everyone in earshot. just now though, the evil 400 year old emperor has been vaporized by a passing train, and luz staggers off into the woods again.

The Child of The Titian
Tumblr media
More commonly known as “Empress Hecate”
Tumblr media
Or “Luz”
Child of The Titan AU
that’s literally what it’s called, sue me.
Okay, so this is the part where I talk about this AU. If you wanna know more, keep reading! If you don’t, well uh, leave?
This won’t be long cause I’m not going over the whole story. Lol.
Background:
If you’re too lazy to read, allow me to summarize it. Luz is captured by Belos, and she believes that Eda and the others will come to save her.
But in COTT (Child of the Titan AUGH I like this name), Luz is not saved. A year later, a rebellion forms, and it’s led by the Clawthrone sisters and they’re ready to end Belos’ tyranny. But they’re also consistently looking for Luz. Eda searches for three more years until she forces herself to stop as it’s becoming unhealthy. Then, the rebellion organizes an attack on the throne. They fight, yada yada, Belos dies. They search for Luz a little while before they’re swarmed by scouts, and they’re tired from fighting Belos, so they leave. Thinking that they won.
I won’t talk about what happened to Luz in that span of time, as you might find out when I write the fic.
I will say five things;
1. Hecate can use magic like a witch, but it’s unstable and requires a lot of energy.
2. Palismen. BUT! Stringbean!!!
3. Hecate hates everyone, and everything expect for Hunter. Hunter’s okay. 👍
4. She wants to make the Isles better.
5. She wants to go home, and won’t hesitate if she has to fight anybody in the Rebellion.
Speaking of the Rebellion, let’s go over who’s all in it, shall we?
The Rebellion
(Raine couldn’t come up with a better name, and neither can I)
Founders/Leaders: Eda & Lilith Clawthorne.
Members: Amity Blight, Willow Park, Augustus Porter, Raine Whispers, Derwin, Ember, Katya, Principal Bump & all his students, Edric & Emira Blight, Alador Blight (eventually), Glandus High students, Dell & Gwen Clawthorne, Gilbert & Harvey Park, Perry Porter, Malphas, Morton, Puddles (Viney’s Griffin), Salty (recently), and Vee (when she realizes that something’s wrong with Luz, and after they find out Hecate is Luz.) Darius Deamonne & Eberwolf (eventually), other Wild Witches and Demons.
The Inquisition
Previously the Emperor’s Coven
Leader: Empress Hecate
Members: Hunter “The Golden Guard” (Head of Inquisition), Kikimora, Darius Deamonne (Abomination for now), Eberwolf (Beast for now), Scooter Crane (Bard), Terra Snapdragon (Plants), Adrian Graye Vernworth (Illusion), Mason (Construction), Vitimir (Potions), Hettie Cutburn (Healing), Osran (Oracle), Coven Scouts, The Warden, Coven Guards, Vee (for a while, other witches and demons.
