Happy New Year, y'all! I've spent this morning editing up "Under the Influence," which was a little Matty fic from Tuna-Tober that hadn't been posted months ago like it was supposed to be, so I am going to try to get it posted today. I still have one for Frank I need to get posted from that event, too.

But hey, I am partially back! Though Jax Teller still has a pretty good vice grip on my brain, but Matty is making his comeback. I'm hoping to ease back into and focus a little more on FFTD, The Devil at Your Window, and A Favor from the Devil. TDAYW actually has one and a half drafts written from before my mental health derailed a bit, so there might be more for that soon. It's been months since I've written though, so bare with me while I work through the muck and cobwebs in my tired brain that is recovering from 2 weeks of influenza.

Chapter 7 — Bella

There was something special about this place, Bella mused, gazing out at the ocean and the distant silhouette of a volcanic island. She didn’t know exactly what it was, but Bella could feel it. It was something… magical.

since a lot of y’all are extremely stupid and dense, this is not about sexualizing anyone especially a goddamn fourteen year old, most of the whole casting thing is shit to the point where they can’t even cast a single muscular woman that is literally in the story to be huge. tlou is a game that’s known to enhance women and their physical appearance without caring about the male gaze (which didn’t happen in the series), plus I’m not complaining about bella looking young for the role since ellie is fourteen in part one, however I find it weird that most of the cast for season two looks like an old disney show cast. it’s the entire acting industry sexualizing young looking actresses with sexual scenes not me!

it’s not that hard to find people who are talented, looks like the character and doesn’t look like a fourteen year old (literally look at what the fans chose), another thing, I’m not hating on bella I think her acting is good and I enjoyed it. at some scenes it was even better than the game and it was great for season one, I just hoped someone else would get the role for season two. thats my fucking personal opinion and I’m allowed to say it and u r allowed to fuck off my blog if u don’t like it.

i actually didn’t think people would make such a big deal out of it since it’s literally a tumblr post, like frankly get a damn life.

“Now you’re not laughing as much as you did huh?” You teased as Pedro was sitting in front of you, being settled with wires and such.

“Ha ha” he fake laughed, which made you laugh.

“Is he ready?” You asked to the lady as she was sitting back to her place.

“Yes”

“Okay mister Pascal, is your full name Jose Pedro Balmaceda Pascal?”

“Yes it is” he said, relaxed, smiling at you

“Are you from Chile?”

“Yes”

“Okay I think we’re good” you smirked “now let’s get started”

“Don’t enjoy this too much”

“Oh like you didn’t” you read the first question. “You said in a previous interview that you weren’t watching yourself, like the shows or movies you were in, anymore.” You said, insisting on the “anymore”. “But did you used to do it before?”

“Yeah I did it a little, to kind of see my performance you know, not in an egocentric way” he laughed

“Did you ever watch the sex scenes to see what you actually looked like?” Pedro wheezed at the question

“Oh this is a hundred percent not a real question” he tried to grab the paper, but you moved away.

“Don’t doubt the questions. Just answer”

“No I did not” he immediately looked at the lady. She hesitated for a few seconds.

“Inconclusive” you bursted out laughing

“No wait no! That’s not why I watched!”

“You don’t have to justify yourself you know”

“Oh but I think I really do right now” you both couldn’t stop laughing

“At some point those scenes were coming up anyway!”

“Yeah sure, if it helps you sleep at night” you said still laughing

“Oh man”

“Not that confident anymore are you?”

“Shut up” he laughed, looking on his side.

“Okay next question” you got a little more serious reading the question “What do you think about people making remarks about the age gap between you and Bella?”

“They can f-” he looked at the camera but didn’t finish his sentence. you chuckled. “There’s no such thing, like I understand why it can be shocking like especially in romantic relationships, that’s why we-” Pedro stopped, wide eyes looking at you. You were making the same face. “As I want to say, there will always be unhappy people criticizing what you do, so love your life, do what you want” Pedro started to blush a little, avoiding eye contact and not looking at the camera. He grabbed his sweatshirt a little, he was getting hot.

“I completely agree” you said smiling. “Do you think I’m a good actress?”

“Of course, I think you’re an excellent actress” you blushed at his response.

“I don’t even need to have confirmation” you said smiling at Pedro. He had this little spark in his eye, making it hard for you to focus. “Do you regret anything that you did?”

“Like some roles I did or in general?”

“Roles”

“Oh thank god” he joked, “hm, I don’t really think so. Looking back at it yeah some of them I think it’s a little too much, but it’s part of my career, I don’t regret doing them” you looked at the lady.

“It’s true”

“That’s beautiful” you said “always finding the positive side of everything” you added, looking intensely at him. He smiled.

“I got to, life’s hard enough”

“True”

“But if I might add” he laughed “If I was asked today to do some of the roles, I think I would say no for some, but I don’t regret doing them, if that makes any sense.”

“Yeah I see, like you grew up, matured in a way that it doesn’t correspond to you anymore”

“Yes! She understands me so well” he said at the camera, you couldn’t help but blush, hiding behind the paper

“Next question! How did we first meet?”

“Oh shit” you both laughed “I can’t say it”

“Oh you have to” Pedro stared at you, hesitating for a while. Seeing you were not giving it up, he gave in.

“Okay.. well- Oscar threw a party at his house, I was there, y/n was there too, and I went to the bathroom to, well relieve myself, I don't remember much I was very drunk”

“Yeah you were” you chuckled

“You were too”

“Please keep going” you said before he could add anything embarrassing about you

“And you can probably guess where it's going but she entered as I was on the.. toilet” you laughed

“What a great way to introduce himself” you joked, looking at the camera. “And that’s not the worst part”

“You’re making me say the entire story?”

“Oh yes I am”

“You know it's actually more embarrassing for you after that right?”

“It’s bad for both of us. But whatever, they should know the truth” he rolled his eyes “It was so funny” you couldn't stop laughing

“Don’t laugh too much, because when you tried to leave, you knocked yourself out with the door. I don't even know you could hit yourself with the door” you suddenly stopped laughing.

“At least I wasn't half naked” now he was the one who stopped laughing “in my defense I was drunk and shocked. There was Pedro pascal in front of me! I panicked” Pedro couldn’t stop laughing

“But she really did knock herself, like she fell onto the floor, and I think you blacked out for a few minutes” he said looking at the camera, laughing a little

“I didn’t black out but I was also pretty drunk and I just didn’t.. move” you laughed. you both shook your head, laughing

“Moral of the story, don’t drink alcohol” Pedro joked, pointing at the camera. You both laughed.

“Yeah we were really drunk. I don’t even know how we remember that actually. I do remember that you tried to touch me without washing your hands first” Pedro’s eyes widened

“What?”

“Yeah you tried to “woke me up” or something, but you didn’t wash your hands!”

“Well sorry I your health was more important. I was drunk but not dumb” they laughed “wait! I remember you said something about it! Your voice was low and you said “wash you hands first”

“Oh my god yes!” You laughed even harder

“This has to be the worst way of meeting people possible” Pedro admitted

“Yeah, it was embarrassing” you laughed. “Alcohol..” you sighed “it makes you do weird things” you chuckled

“But well, look at where it got us. Years of friendship and now months of dating, it didn’t stop us” you were shocked at what he just had said. Your smiled dropped.

“Did you just reveal that we were dating?” Pedro realized what he did. You were both looking around you, at the crew, very surprised by the bomb that just dropped.

“I guess.. I did?”

“Oh well, cannot be worst than the story we just explained” you joked.

“It had to be done at some point since you teased it during one of your interviews a while ago” you nodded and rolled your eyes. You were shaking a little as you didn’t expect that to happen, and starting to think about what would come next once the interview was out.

“Okay last question, to end this torture. Did you lie at any point during this interview but we didn’t catch you?”

“No I did not” you both turned to the lady

“It is true”

“I wished I did though, especially for our meeting”

“It would have been less embarrassing indeed” you both laughed. You looked at the camera. “Okay well I guess that’s it. We hope you enjoyed the video”

“You can obviously tell that we did” Pedro joked, looking at the camera

“I can’t believe we actually revealed the first time we saw each other” you said putting the paper on the table. “Now we have to live with the fact that the entire world knows how we met”

“Well, you didn’t have to ask me you know, we could have avoided that”

“Had to get my revenge. And it’s more embarrassing for you than for me” you laughed, before standing up. “And also, you could have just lied, tell a fake story”

“But I would have been caught, and I would have had to tell the true story at some point”

“True true”

“But we just don’t care” Pedro added, you laughed, as the lady started to remove the wires from him. "And it was actually more embarrassing for her" he whispered to the camera, before it stopped rolling.

You might have heard that last night, Israelis and Jews were attacked by Muslims across Amsterdam, the capital city of the Netherlands, after a soccer match between a Dutch and an Israeli team.

So far, multiple reports state that people have been stabbed, beaten, ran over, thrown into a river, 10 Israelis have not been located since the pogrom and 3 are considered missing, several of the injured have been located in hospitals, the total number of wounded is still being investigated, all Israelis and Jews in Amsterdam have been advised to conceal any signs of their Israeli or Jewish identity, many Dutch officials have remarked on this failure to protect Jews and Israelis from their attackers (so fuck everyone trying to victim blame the attacked... this was fully one-sided and the Dutch have admitted that), and the State of Israel has been working to evacuate its citizens from the Netherlands as quickly as possible, including with flights during Shabbat, which is allowed for religious Jews due to the risk posed to the lives of the evacuees.

I've read some accounts from attacked victims, and some of their stories are reminiscent of what was done to Jews during (and right before) the Holocaust. Europe 2024 is not much safer for Jews than Europe 1934.

It is ironic that the Israeli team whose fans were attacked is Macabbi Tel Aviv. Maccabi's uniform used to be blue and white, and their nickname was "The Blue Ones." As the first confirmed information about the Holocaust reached the Land of Israel (then under British rule and referred to as Mandatory Palestine), one of its players suggested adding yellow to the team's uniform, in honor of the Jews in Europe forced to wear the yellow star. Maccabi has since been known as "The Yellow Ones." Even more ironic is the fact that this is the same all-Jewish Maccabi Tel Aviv team that Palestinians, including Bella Hadid, have repeatedly appropriated, and misrepresented it as "proof" of the existence of an independent Arab state called Palestine.

Meanwhile, the State of Israel has announced that it will recognize the pogrom in Amsterdam last night as a terrorist attack (source in Hebrew), a move which will enable the victims to receive social aid and support from the state. Israel has also opened special national hotlines that have been opened for the victims. They are available in several languages: Hebrew, English, Russian and Arabic (source in Hebrew). That's right. The only Jewish state in the world, whose citizens are targeted for the supposed discriminatory policies of their government, is offering any possible Arabic speaking fans who have also been victimized by this antisemitic attack their own hotline. So apartheid, much genocide. /eyeroll

2024, MARCH

YOUR ALARM went off at half past five, and you grunted, smacking it with your right hand, trying to make it stop yelling.

After you turned it off, you laid your bed on your pillow again, sighing. Turning your head to the side, you watched as Bella snored like she paid all of your bills and worked a nine to five everyday. You smiled, happy to see her so relaxed.

You got up, put on your slippers and walked to your bathroom, turning on the lights and regretting immediately after, because your eyes took a long time to adjust to the bright, white light.

You opened the tap, putting in warm water and gently wetting your face, before closing it and grabbing your cleanser and starting your morning skincare routine.

Even though you loved to stay in bed, there was something about the early hours of the day. You could go on with your morning with no one bothering you, just working on the steps of completing your morning routine with ease, while the world was still asleep outside— even though Los Angeles never got entirely asleep.

You can wash your face and apply your moisturizer, before stepping in the shower after letting your skin absorb the products. Then, you can scrub your body and exfoliate it, humming to this week’s top song on Spotify charts. You can dry yourself with your fluffiest towel, smear your skin with your favorite vanilla scented body lotion and perfume.

Then, you can wake Bella up, and force her to leave your bed so you can make it. She’ll growl and bark at you, but in the end she’ll be too eager to go outside to do anything else.

You’ll change into your outfit of the day, something cozy, and grab your keys before leaving the house with Bella by your side, taking her to the dog park your apartment complex has, and let her enjoy the synthetic grass while you stare at her, smiling from ear to ear.

You’ll both stay there for ten minutes, with you talking to her about everything and anything, while she sniffs around the place and answers your yapping with occasional barks.

Then, you’ll call her name and go back to your place, starving for food. You’ll make your breakfast, nothing too heavy— a cup of green tea and a yogurt bowl.

You’ll leave your house at sometime around seven a.m., after grabbing everything you’ll need for the day and saying goodbye to Bella, telling her that her dog sitter, Carly, will be there in just a few hours. You’ll get into the car your agency sent to you, greeting the driver and sitting in the back, checking the texts on your phone. And then, you will feel your heart stop inside your chest, because—

What the hell does she want? You thought, squeezing your phone so hard between your hands that, for a second, you thought you’d actually break it.

You haven’t seen your mom in a year. Or your family, for that matter. Your parents, your brother and Canada felt just like a distant, hurtful memory that you wanted to keep away from yourself, buried deep inside your heart.

After making your teenage years feel like hell, and after making you hate yourself in more ways you’d ever think possible, your mom got you signed at the most prestigious modeling agency in all LA, IMG Models. Some people online talked about how you were only the cover of last year’s VOGUE because you’re basically a Nepo Baby, and even though your social media team did their best to debunk those comments, you knew— everyone did— that they were right: you only reached the top that fast because you are the daughter of the editor-in-chief of Fashion and retired model, Jessica Carter.

Not that you weren’t pretty, no, you were. But your last name opened more doors for you than your face and body ever would.

But at the end, you were grateful to be living a normal life— as normal as it could get— away from Canada. That country held painful memories and people that you would much rather watch from afar.

You didn’t reply to her text, you didn’t need to. She made it very clear that your attendance wasn’t an option. Even at twenty-two years old, your mom would always have the final word.

You arrived on set ten minutes after reading that text, sad to have your good mood ruined. But you still had a long day of work ahead of you, so you should just do what you’re best at: pretending you’re fine.

You spent your entire morning at a photoshoot for Elle, posing for infinite pictures and changing as fast as you could, while trying your hardest not to focus on your mom’s text.

Glad to be working with people who were actually nice, you slipped into your work headspace and when you checked your phone again, it was lunch time.

Grabbing the biggest salad from the agency’s restaurant, you ate with no hunger or pleasure. Thinking of your life back in Canada made you sick.

“ARE YOU leaving already, darlin’?”

Nicholas’ voice echoed as you bend over to grab your purse.

Looking at him, you smiled, tiredly. “Yes, hum. Actually, I need to talk to you about something,” you took a step further, stopping in front of the man you've known as your boss the past four years.

“Yeah, go ahead.” He leaned against the wall, waiting.

“I need to have Friday off,” you started, biting your lip. “It’s a family thing. Promise I’ll be back on Monday.”

“Madison, you’re literally the only model here who hasn’t missed a work day for an entire year, maybe even more than that,” he laughs, blond hair moving as his head turns around. “If you want to take the entire week off, you’re allowed to.”

A week in Toronto? No, thank you.

“No, I just need Friday.” You replied, adjusting your bag on your shoulder.

“You’re free to go, my love. Send kisses to your mom, okay? Tell her to visit us sometime.”

“Of course, thank you.” You kissed his cheek quickly before heading back to the elevator.

On your way home, you thought about all of the things your mom might want of you. Sure, she said that she wanted the family to get together and all of that, but you’re sure there’s more to that. She wouldn’t make you fly to Canada just because she wants to have dinner with you. She’s just not that kind of person.

Entering your apartment, the first thing you did after removing your shoes was go looking for Bella, who had somehow managed to lock herself inside the guest's bathroom, and was whining loudly.

“Naughty, naughty girl,” you kissed her, petting her fur gently. “How did you even do that?”

She just licked you and you sighed, the long hours of work finally hitting you completely. You just needed to shower, drink your daily glass of warm milk and play with Bella for a while before going to bed.
