Bellamy Blake appreciation week 2025
Day 2: Bellamy + Octavia/ Favorite sibling scene: Bellamy and Octavia talking about their childhood;
Headcanon moment: after Octavia cut herself, he went to medical a few days later asking for antibiotics because her cut had gotten infected but so had his. He let her have the medicine while his hand got swollen and hurt more. Aurora changed his bandage several times a day while O who had gotten better, hugged herself in his trembling body and begged for him 'not to die' because she couldn't imagine her life without him there. Eventually, Aurora figured out he won't get better without actual meds himself and found a woman in farm station who gave her an antiseptic paste which cost her all her ration points for the next two weeks. He got better but they had no food and he forced himself to go back to school, so he'd be able to get free lunch, hide it in his back pack and bring it home to Octavia. Bellamy lost so much weight in that month that at night when Octavia wrapped herself around him, she could read his ribs and close her arms on his back, something she never could before. He has always been her big brother and back then he seemed as small as her which scared her.

HISTORY / tw parental death, cancer
when the grim-faced soldiers standing at the doorstep of their house presented her a neatly folded flag while her mother fell onto the door-jam riley thought she should have expected this. before his death her father had been a tersely loving man, strict in his expectations and not readily giving out his affection under his deep-rooted sense of tradition. parks didn't talk about their feelings, they didn't break down or let the world get the best of them. they folded their hands and prayed at the dinner table and kept a stiff upper lip. the aftermath of his death was no different for the children (they repressed the hell out of it) but their mother, falling apart in her grief packed them up and moved to red creek to be closer to family. riley usurped the role of mother in the house as her mother further deteriorated. in those few moments of freedom she ran wild around town tugging a rebellious streak along with her. this aimlessness nearly found her in prison when she was twenty. after she realized she was going nowhere fast, maybe in some misguided attempt to please her father she enlisted. she spent eight years serving as an eod specialist and when she returned home for good she found her siblings had grown up without her. they didn't need her anymore and the fracture of their repressed feelings sent them each their separate ways. a year ago their mother was diagnosed with breast cancer bringing all of the siblings back to red creek. as riley cares for her ailing mother she's also desperately trying to find the evil lurking in her town and protect the people she swore to.
WANTED CONNECTIONS
ex-fiancée: fem muses only please! when riley came home from the army she found that most her siblings were either old enough to not need her or resent her for her involvement in their lives. for the first time in her life she couldn't concern herself with them all the time. she met this woman in red creek and found herself head over heels in love. their relationship was and sometimes mired by riley's unwillingness to communicate her feelings. eventually things began to fall apart as riley's reticence and her over-dedication to her family began to pick apart at the relationship. her fiancée left and it's one of the great regrets of her life though riley feels it's impossible to repair. specifics of the relationship can be discussed as well as you want this to be a second chance romance or just an angsty yearning and healing situation. childhood friends: riley moved to red creek along with her family when she was thirteen and spent those first few years after her father's death sneaking into abandoned houses, climbing up gates and generally being a teenage menace. while they've all grown up now they'd still have rebellious streaks to them. they look back fondly on those days and riley remains friends with many of them today. though it would be interesting if maybe one of her friends was in trouble with the law pretty often and that's caused a divide between them in the later years. she keeps her people close and for a long time so she'd be incredibly dedicated to her friends. supects: riley's been obsessively pursuing the investigation into the disappearance and she's ruffled a few feathers along the way. this is someone who she suspected of being the killer and interviewed. however they reacted to that is up to you but she was probably very insistent on getting answers for any sort inconsistency in the story. she feels personally responsible for the town and for those who have been hurt, killed, or gone missing. flings: fem muses only please! after her engagement fell apart riley focused all of her energy on work though she's had few short-term relationships and casual flings here and there. this is someone she met or meets casually for sex or drinks or general company. she's remained noncommittal so any attempts at something long-term would be rebuffed but she certainly does enjoy the company of beautiful women. the park siblings: will be sent to the main! after their father's death their mother tried their best but her grief and depression consumed more often than not leaving the siblings to fend for themselves. riley stepped on taking on the role of a barely effective pseudo-mother. she did the best she could to make sure that everyone went to school, had their dinner and did their homework but it involved her in her sibling's life to a degree some of them resented. she acted more like a mother than a sister and in a family where talking about your feelings openly wasn't practiced it causes fissures in the foundation of those relationships. in adulthood riley still has the bad habit of checking up too much on her siblings and as her mother's breast cancer diagnosis brings them back together (maybe even from out of state!) they must contend with the wounds that have never healed.

9 - Where’s the Fun in That?

Holding the edge of my hood over my head I shielded my face from the rain that was pouring down onto the prisoners camp. Rushing inside the nearest tent I could find open I shrieked covering my eyes with my hands seeing two girls laying naked in Bellamy’s bed with the man laying in between them. “Bellamy - oh god!”
“Ever hear of knocking bitch.” One of the girls with dark brown hair snapped at me.
Keeping my eyes covered I nervously responded. “Sorry, sorry. I was just - sorry.”
“Get out of here, grounder. He’d never want to sleep with someone who wants to kill us all.” The other girl that had auburn hair glared at me.
Clearing my throat I attempted to back out of the tent but stumbled into his hunting pack on the ground, falling down on my butt hearing the two girls burst out into laughter. “I’m really sorry. I just need to talk with him about the hunting- offf ow!” Rubbing my lower back I glared at the two girls before Bellamy climbed out of the bed.
Shutting my eyes quickly I was taken back by the fact that he was completely naked so I had to hear him shrugging his jeans on. “I’ll be outside in a minute, grounder girl.”
“Okay. I'll- I'll just be outside.” Getting to my feet I slipped outside the tent, throwing my hood up to cover my face from the rain and wind. The flap opened revealing Bellamy to step outside shrugging a black jacket on looking over at me. “I'm sorry for barging in like that. I - I didn’t expect you to have company.”
He throws his axe onto the belt of his jeans. “It's alright. You're supposed to report to me all the time. Don't listen to what they say, they're not the ones in charge.”
“I'm aware of who's in charge here.” I nodded in understanding hearing someone walking up to us for me to realize it was my sister coming past us. “Now about the hunting parties. You need to make sure everyone is back before dark. It'll lower the chances of unexpected grounder attacks. My other note is that -”
My sister with her blonde hair tied back quickly walked past us. Parting my lips I sucked in a breath feeling uneasy around her now. I wasn’t entirely sure if she had heard what Bellamy had said a few days ago. If she had I figured she didn’t want to see me or even know what to say to me. The only thing I did know was that I hated my mother for the rest of my life.
“Are you going to talk to her or avoid her for the rest of your life?” Bellamy spoke up pulling me from the trance I was in once seeing my sister.
“That’s none of your business.”
He shoved his hands inside the pockets of his jacket. “It is my business when I’m the only one who knows your little secret.”
“I know yours too, Blake. Shooting the Chancellor doesn’t exactly have the same weight as “hey I’m your secret twin sister our parents never told you about”.” I snapped back at him.
Bellamy sent me a scowl. “How about you switch that attitude of yours, Cassio.”
“Don’t call me that!” Whipping my head around I stomped forward, grabbing the fabric of his shirt. Baring my teeth I pressed my nose against his. “Call me that nickname again and I’ll rip out those curls of yours!”
“Dang girl. That would be a turn-on if this conversation was different.” He chuckled with a smirk that was short lived seeing that I was still pissed at him. “Why can’t I call you, Cassio. Huh?”
“Because only my best friend gets to call me that. Glass is the first person to ever give me a nickname and I have cherished it everyday since then.” Shifting my gaze to focus on his brown eyes I didn’t loosen my grip on his clothing. “If you ever call me that again I can promise you that your punishment shall be your worst nightmare.”
The older man drew his head back so he could wipe away a tear I wasn’t aware of falling down my cheek. “I’m sorry, Cassie. We - you and I need to find a better way to communicate than fighting.”
“Nah.” Stepping away I flipped my hair in his face swaying my hips as I walked away. “Where’s the fun in that?”
To my surprise I watched a childish grin appear on the man’s face for the first time since I have ever met him. “Ohh you little minx.”
“What are you gonna do, Blake? Take away my communication with the outside world forever.”
He stepped up to me, tugging me against his chest by the belt loop of my jeans. “Possibly. Or I could rock your world.”
“Pffft as if you can spark real desire in every girl you come across.”
He leans down closer to me, nearly brushing his lips against mine. “Is that a challenge, Cassie? Cause I’ll spark something in you you’ve never seen.”
“How can you be so certain - wait spark. A transmission spark back to the Ark.” Gasping an idea immediately came to my mind recalling how Glass would complain about Luke talking for hours about the ship communications mainframe. Pushing his hands off my waist I spun on my feet causing the hood of my jacket to fall off my head letting my hair get wet as I ran towards the dropship.
Bellamy hollered as I ran away. “Where are you going, grounder girl!”
“I think I know a way we can contact the Ark!’ I called back before running again and entering the dropship to see the girl wearing a red jacket working on something at the metal table. “Oh hi. You're the radio girl right?”
“Yeah, I'm Raven. And you're that grounder that Bellamy lets stroll around camp on a leash.”
Biting my lip I didn't fire back a snarky remark like I desired to and instead spoke softly. “I need your help with something. I - I think I might have a way for you to get a signal to your ship. A better one than that radio.”
The girl eyed me up and down with curiosity. “How would you know anything about how to contact the Ark?”
“Because the 100 weren't the first people to be sent down here to die.” I declared to her with a heavy sigh. “I was.”
The Ark
Glass was sitting in her quarters taking a nap while her mother was off at work until she heard someone knocking on the door. She exited the bedroom and went over opening the door to see her boyfriend Luke quietly rush inside and lock the door behind him. “I can’t stop thinking about what we know about the council. We have to do something about it.”
“Luke, we can’t do anything. We’re going to get floated if we reveal their secrets.” She spun around on her feet grabbing his shoulders with horror in her eyes.
He gently spoke back to her with a heavy sigh. “We have to do something. We can’t let them keep killing more people. What would Cassiopeia want you to do?”
“Fine, you’re right.” Closing my eyes I knew he was right so I intertwined my hands with his own. “We have to tell everyone that the Ark is dying.”

A Day In The Life Of Bellamy Blake
Day 3: Bellamy + Favorite Outfit
Season 3 canon-divergence AU (I just love the curls with the guard’s jacket, sue me) This is a fic all about Bellamy being in the guard in season three, or between seasons two and three, whichever you like.
Bellamy pulls on his guard’s jacket with a look around the closet he’s been calling his room since getting back from Mouth Weather. It’s empty with just a blanket on the floor, and a shirt balled up for a pillow. They’re already struggling to house all of the people from the Ark, and the kids from the dropship that survived. So, he’s just been packing himself in here away from everyone else. His shoulders touch each wall as he turns to leave. Bellamy steps out of the room, closing the door behind himself. He runs a hand through his hair, pushing it away from his eyes. Then he heads to sign-in, and let the night shift off duty.
He finds Murphy standing with Miller, talking with smiles on their faces. It makes Bellamy smile too since it took them a while to start to settle in. At least they’re feeling more comfortable now even though they’re still struggling with how others are treating them. It’s a two steps forward one step back kind of process. A lot of people still look at them like they’re criminals, someone to be looked down upon. Luckily people are slowly coming around. Miller and Bellamy have had to talk Murphy into being patient, but it’s totally worth it seeing them talking and laughing.
“Hey, Bellamy, you on shift today too?” Murphy asks as soon as he notices Bellamy walking up.
“Yeah, I am. Miller?”
“I’m getting off shift right now. I’ll stay here till you check in.”
Bellamy nods, heading to login his check-in time. Miller logs his check-out time as soon as he’s done, obviously exhausted. That leaves Murphy and Bellamy at the gate.
“How you been?” Bellamy asks.
“Well, it hasn’t been that long since we had a shift together.”
“It’s been a week.”
“Shit, seriously? Well, this week has been pretty good. Seriously, it’s a lot better.”
“That’s good, I’m glad.”
Monty runs up before they can continue their conversation.
“Hey, Bellamy, can you come help me?”
This is fairly common. In fact, Bellamy spends most of his shifts running around helping anyone that asks for it.
“You alright here?”
Murphy nods, grinning. “Go play Prince Charming. It’s like this place can’t run without you.”
Bellamy laughs. “It can, it just doesn’t have to. Whatcha need, Monty?”
“We have to run inspections on everything in the hangar, and Jasper is busy. He said he’d come help when he gets a chance, but I need some help now.”
“Yeah, I can do that. I’m pretty good with cars.”
Bellamy follows Monty to the hangar, rolling up his sleeves. He heads over to the Rover while Monty splits off to the other side. He opens the hood, beginning his inspection. Once he’s done under the hood, he slides underneath the car.
Fifteen minutes after he first started, Octavia’s voice floats through the air, “Hey, Monty. Have you seen Bell?”
“Yeah, he’s under that car over there.”
“Ok, thanks.”
Octavia kneels down, lowering her head to the ground so she can see him.
“Hey, Bell. What’re you doing?”
“I’m inspecting this car. Let me finish up here, and then we can talk.”
“Jasper is here. You can stop after that car!” Monty yells, and Bellamy can see Octavia give him a thumbs up.
Bellamy finishes up his inspection, then slides out. He grabs the keys before getting into the car.
“So, what’s up?”
“Lincoln was wondering if you could lead another training session with him at five-thirty.”
“Yeah, I can do that.”
“Oh, also, Kane and Abby want to see you now if you have time. They just said to drop by as soon as you could.”
“Alright, I can do that. This started, and is running just fine. So I’ll check this off, and then I’ll head over there. I’ll see you later, O.”
Octavia nods, then walks back out. Bellamy turns the car off, puts the keys back, then checks off the inspection papers for the Rover that Monty has gathered on his desk. He cleans his hands and arms, then rolls his sleeves back down. After that he heads to Abby’s office. His boots clang off of the metal floors, echoing in the quiet hallways. Kane is the one to answer when he knocks, motioning for him to come in.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Bellamy asks, glancing between Kane, and Abby, who is sitting on the couch nearby.
“We just wanted a full update on the guard, and how the kids are settling in. What issues you’ve had, and what we can help with,” Abby says, smiling softly at Bellamy.
Bellamy nods. “Ok, I should have time for that, but I’ll need to check in with Murphy as soon as I’m done.”
Abby nods, and Kane pulls him over to sit down by her. Bellamy complies, sitting down, and watching as Kane sits down across from them. Bellamy launches into a detailed explanation of how the kids have been settling into their separate roles, and how they’ve been dealing with everything. He includes how they’ve been treated though he does understand that they’re not capable of changing that. He tells them how the guard shifts have been going, and how everything is running smoothly by now. Everyone has gotten into a groove, and it’s all working out really well.
Once he’s done, Abby asks him, “So, is there anything we can help with that will make you guys' lives easier?”
“Not that I can think of.”
“Alright, well you can go.”
Bellamy nods, standing back up. He heads back to the gate to finish the rest of his shift. Once five rolls around, he turns to Murphy.
“I gotta lead training once the night shift comes. So I’ll let you do handover with them while I coordinate with Lincoln.”
Murphy nods, and Bellamy leaves as soon as the night shift arrives. It’s five twenty by the time he reaches the area they normally hold training in. They’re doing more hand to hand combat, which lasts for about an hour. Bellamy skips out on dinner altogether, and heads straight to his room once they’re done cleaning up from training. He collapses onto his blankets with a content smile. It was a long day, but definitely worth it.

Masterlist
Raven's voice was faint, repeating the same exact thing over and over again on the bottom level of the dropship. She begged for the Ark to hear her, pleading for their help. All we had gotten so far was static.
Octavia winced, grabbing my attention. "Can you please not space out while you're stitching my forehead? I'd really like to avoid a scar."
I smiled slightly. "Trust me, a scar is the least of your worries these days."
She frowned, her eyes shifting to the floor. "Do you think Finn will be alright?"
"I hope so." I responded, tying off the stitch and cutting the end with the small scissors that came in the pack. "Clarke will figure it out. She always does."
"You know her better than I do."
I noticed Octavia shift in place as I reached over to grab some gauze. Placing it over the wound on her head, I used the little bit of tape Clarke had offered up to stick it on. "You're good to go."
Octavia sighed, running her fingers along the bandage. "Thank you."
"No sleeping for another few hours, alright? Just in case." I said, as thunder grumbled outside.
"I don't think anyone is sleeping anytime soon."
"Probably not." I sighed.
"Athena!" Clarke's voice boomed through the dropship.
Octavia stiffened. "You should go, I'll be alright."
"Athena!"
I stood from my spot on the floor, grabbing the suture kit before looking down at Octavia. "If you need me at all, call for me, alright? If you feel dizzy or anything-"
"I'll call for you, I promise."
I gave her one last smile before opening the hatch and climbing down to the bottom floor. Clarke quickly spotted me across the room, waving me over with her free hand.
"How's Finn doing?" I asked, placing the suture kit at Finn's feet.
Clarke averted her eyes. "He's still alive, for now."
I noticed Raven's eyes shift towards us, before focusing back in on the radio. "Calling Ark Station. Please come in. The hundred are alive."
Suddenly, the radio crackled, a voice coming through. "This is a restricted station. Who is this? Please identify yourself."
Everyone fell silent, staring at Raven. Her face was pale, her eyes wider than usual. Finally, she responded. "This is Raven Reyes. I'm from Mecha Station. I'm transmitting from the ground. The hundred are alive. Please, you need to get Doctor Abby Griffin, now."
"Hang on, Raven. We're trying to boost your signal."
I blinked. "You did it? That's really the Ark?"
Raven turned her head, smiling, though her eyes were still laced with tears. "It's really the Ark."
"Raven? Are you there?" I recognized Abby's voice instantly.
Clarke's eyes darted back the radio, a frown forming across her face. After a few moments she took a deep breath, heading over and taking the radio from Raven.
"Mom? Mom, it's me."
"Clarke?"
Clarke smiled for just a moment, though it quickly faded. "Mom, I need your help. One of our people was stabbed by a Grounder."
A new voice emerged. "Clarke, this is the Chancellor. Are you saying there are survivors on the ground?"
"Yes, the Earth is survivable. We're not alone." Clarke said. "Mom, he's dying. The knife is still in his chest."
"Okay, just give us two minutes."
"Clarke," Jaha's voice emerged again. "Is my son with you?"
Clarke looked at me, her eyes swelling with tears. I gave her a reassuring look and she turned her attention back to the radio. "I'm so sorry. W-Wells is dead."
Everything fell silent once more, only the static of the radio coming through. Finally, Abby's voice came through once again. "Okay, Clarke... I'm going to talk you through this step-by-step. Just find-"
The radio cut out for a moment, coming back through in mumbles.
"Raven, what's going on?" I asked.
She shook her head. "It's not the radio, it's the storm."
"Clarke, we need to hurry." Abby's voice was clear again.
"Clarke!" I turned around, noticing Octavia rushing into the dropship. I hadn't even noticed her climb down after me. "Here, this should help."
Clarke headed over, grabbing one of the canisters from Octavia. She screwed open the lid, breathing it in. "Monty's moonshine?"
"Pretty sure no germ could survive this."
The dropship began to shake, lightning striking off in the distance.
"The storm is getting worse. Monroe, close the doors." Clarke commanded.
"We still have people out there."
Octavia nodded. "Monty and Jasper still aren't back. Neither is Bellamy."
"It's okay, they'll find somewhere to hide out."
Before Octavia could argue, Clarke turned back to me. "The suture kit?"
I nodded my head towards Finn's feet. "Right there."
Clarke grabbed the kit, pulling out the needle. She then poured the moonshine over it, rotating it to cover every inch of the needle.
"Tell me you can do this." Raven spoke, moving closer to Clarke.
Clarke looked up at me. "We can do this."
"We?" I asked.
She nodded. "I need your help. Our mothers work together, you and I used to spend hours together in medical reading those journals."
"Clarke, I've had zero training. Sewing Octavia's head was hard enough."
"My mother will give us instructions. I just need your extra set of hands, alright?" I averted my eyes, hoping she'd give up. "Athena, please. I need you."
I looked back up, noticing her pleading eyes. "Alright."
"Hey, they're back!" Monroe called out.
Octavia turned to the door, rushing over. "Bellamy!"
Bellamy entered the dropship first, Monty and Jasper lagging behind, carrying the Grounder from the cave. They dropped his unconscious body to the floor, him handing at Octavia's feet.
She looked up at her brother, her face red. "What the hell are you doing?"
"It's time to get some answers."
"You mean revenge?"
"I mean intel," Bellamy responded, turning back to the boys. "Get him upstairs."
I marched over to Bellamy, a frown across my face. "Bellamy, you know she's right."
"Clarke, we're ready." Abby's voice came through again. "Can you hear me?"
"Athena, I need you."
Bellamy's eyes landed on the radio, his face going pale. I placed my hand on his shoulder, my eyes fixed on his. "Bellamy, this is not who we are."
I watched as his eyes shifted back to the radio, before landing on me once more. "It is now." He said, pulling himself away from me and headed up the ladder after Monty and Jasper.
Shaking my head, I turned to Octavia. "Please, just sit down somewhere, alright? I can't worry about Finn, the Grounder and you all at the same time." Octavia nodded, heading up to the second level of the dropship.
I walked over to Clarke, standing next to her. "The blade is at a sharp, upward angle. Between the sixth and seventh rib."
"How deep?" Abby asked.
"I can't tell."
"That's alright, just don't remove the knife yet."
Clarke grabbed the canister of moonshine, pouring some into her right hand. She then handed it to me, rubbing her hands together. I did the same, and then Raven.
Abby's voice came through again, though we were distracted by the fighting of two delinquents behind us.
"Damn it!" Clarke yelled. "Raven, clear the room."
Raven nodded. "Everyone upstairs. Now! Let's go!"
Clarke placed her hand on Finn's body. "He feels warm."
Raven spun around, rushing back to his side.
"That's alright, fever sometimes accompanies a trauma." Abby responded. "Clarke, I need you to tell me if there's any fluid leaking from the wound."
Clarke examined the wound. "No."
"That's good! That's really good. You got lucky."
Raven crouched down, her face close to Finn's. "Do you hear that? You're lucky." She smiled.
"Okay, Clarke... You need to have a firm grip on the knife." Abby started. "You're gonna need to angle it upward to the left, very slightly to the left, as it exits the ribcage."
"How very slightly?" Clarke asked, her voice now shaking.
"Three millimeters. Any more would be bad, any less too."
"Okay, three milimeters. Got it."
"You can do this, Clarke." Abby encouraged her. "You've assisted me on trickier procedures than this. Once that knife is out, the hard part is over."
Clarke nodded, taking a deep breath. "Extracting now."
Placing her hands around the knife, Clarke began to pull slowly.
"Clarke, he's waking up!"
My eyes landed on Finn's face, his body beginning to move.
"Finn, I'm going to get the knife out of you, okay?" Clarke spoke before looking between Raven and I. "I need you two to hold him still."
While Raven and I held Finn down, Finn strained, trying to keep his body from moving. As Clarke neared the end of the knife, the dropship began to shake again, throwing us all across the room. I watched as the knife tore out of Finn, him falling to the floor in the other direction.
"Clarke! Clarke, what's going on?"
I lifted my head, noticing Clarke standing with the knife in her hand, her eyes fixated on Finn. He was awake, staring right back at her.
"She did it," Raven mumbled, looking between the two. "She did it."
...
The three of us had managed to get Finn back on the cot and Clarke was now finishing up her stitches. "Okay, I'm done."
"Good," Abby responded. "Do you have anything to cover the wound?"
"We still have one bandage left," I spoke up, handing it to Clarke.
"Athena?"
My eyes darted to the radio, my shaky legs rushing over. "Mom? Is that you?"
"Oh, thank God." My mother cried. "When your wristband went black I-"
"I'm okay, I promise." I smiled through teary eyes. "I miss you."
"I miss you too, sweetheart."
"Guys," Raven spoke, grabbing my attention. "Should he be this pale?"
"He's lost a lot of blood, Raven." Abby spoke. "If he's anywhere near as tough as you though, I'm sure he'll be fine."
Clarke placed her hand on his forehead. "Mom, she's right. He's feverish and his breathing is uneven."
"You need to give him some time to recover. Let me know if he gets any worse, but I think he might just be out of the woods."
"There's nothing but woods down here." Clarke rolled her eyes. "I need a break."
"Clarke, wait!" Abby pleaded. "Raven, Athena... Can you please give us a few minutes?"
"Of course-"
"No, no. Raven, stay with Finn." Clarke responded, rubbing her temples. "Athena, come with me."
I followed Clarke up the dropship ladder, reaching the top level. Bellamy stared at the Grounder, who was tied up using seat belts we'd salvaged. Clarke pulled herself through the opening, a boy I didn't recognize stepping in front of her.
"Get hell hell out of my way."
Bellamy sighed. "It's alright. Let them through."
The boy stepped aside, allowing us to pass. I stood next to Bellamy, Clarke approaching the Grounder, who left out a hardy groan.
"Well," Clarke turned back to look at Bellamy. "If he didn't hate us before, he sure as hell does now."
"Who cares?" Bellamy asked. "How is Finn?"
"Alive," Clarke responded, glaring. "His people will care. How long until they find out where we're keeping him? What happens when they do? I mean, when they come looking for him."
"Relax, Princess. No one saw us take him. Thanks to the storm, you couldn't see a soul out there." He reached out, Miller handing him a journal. "In case you missed it, his people are already killing us. How many more of our people need to die before you realize we're fighting a war?"
"We're not soldiers, Bellamy." I spoke up. "There's no way we can win."
"You're right. If we don't fight."
Clarke went to speak, being cut off by Raven's cries. "Clarke! He's seizing!"
"I'm on my way!" Clarke called out, rushing back down the ladder.
I ran down after her, rushing to Finn's side.
"Get my mom on the radio." Clarke said.
"The radio is dead. Interference from the storm." Raven responded, staring at Clarke. "Please don't let him die."
...
Finn soon stopped seizing, his body settling in Raven's arms.
"It's stopped." Clarke spoke. "Quick, help me get him on his side."
I moved into position, noticing Raven remained holding Finn, staring off into the distance. "Raven? Raven, please."
"There's fluid in his lungs, he could choke." Clarke added. Raven snapped back into focus, nodding as she stepped away. Clarke and I then rolled him over, fluids spilling out of his mouth. "He's burning up!"
"Fluid in his lungs? Does that mean the knife-
"No, this isn't blood. It's something else." I responded, looking at Clarke.
Clarke stared at Finn. "I-I did everything she told me to."
"Wait, we've seen this before." I said. "Shortness of breath, fever, seizing."
"Poison." Clarke spoke, her eyes lighting up.
Raven shook her head. "You sterilized everything, I watched you do it."
"Not everything."
Clarke reached over, grabbing the knife. "Raven, stay here."
I followed Clarke back up the ladder. "They locked the damn door!" Clarke hissed, banging on the hatch. "Open the door, now! Bellamy!"
Finally, Miller opened the hatch, allowing Clarke to pull herself through. I followed close behind, watching as she marched over to the Grounder.
"What's on this?" She waved the knife in the air. "Answer me!"
Bellamy looked at me. "What is she talking about?"
"He poisoned the blade!" Clarke snapped her head back. "All this time he knew Finn was going to die no matter what we did."
"What is it?" I asked, moving closer. "Is there an antidote?"
"Athena, he doesn't understand you." Octavia spoke, poking her head through the hatch.
"The vials." Bellamy mumbled, turning around and picking up a small pack. "It's gotta be here." He laid them all out on the floor in front of the Grounder.
"You'd have to be stupid to have a poison around for this long without an antidote." Clarke mumbled, getting on her knees. "Which one is it?"
The Grounder just stared at Clarke, his face never changing.
"Answer the question!" Bellamy yelled.
Octavia pushed her way through the small crowd. "Please, just tell us."
"Which one?" Clarke asked again. "Our friend is dying down there, and you can stop it!"
My eyes shot to Bellamy, silently pleading for him to do something. He rubbed the back of his neck, moving closer to the Grounder. "I'll get him to talk."
He lifted his fist, Octavia jumping in front of him. "Bellamy, no!"
"He wants Finn to die! Why can't you see that?" His eyes drifted to Clarke. "Do you want Finn to live or not?"
"Athena, please!" Octavia begged. "You said it yourself, this is not who we are. He was protecting me, he saved my life!"
Bellamy shook his head. "We're talking about Finn's life!"
"Do it."
I looked at Clarke, shame written all over her face.
"Clarke, please..." Octavia begged before turning back to the Grounder. "Please, just tell us which one it is."
Bellamy picked up a knife, using it to rip open the Grounder's shirt. "Tell us which one it is, or you'll wish you had."
"Bellamy," Octavia pleaded. "Please don't do this."
Bellamy grabbed a seat belt, taking a deep breath before swinging it. As it hit the Grounder's skin, he let out a small yelp, causing me to turn away.
"Please!" Clarke begged, still on her knees. "Which one is it?"
"Just tell them." Octavia begged again.
Bellamy placed his hand on Clarke's shoulder, a tear falling from her eye as she eventually stood up. As Clarke moved away, Bellamy hit the Grounder with the seatbelt once again.
Each time he'd hit the Grounder, we would plead for answers. Finally, Octavia had had enough.
"Stop it! He's not going to tell us anything." She yelled.
"Clarke!" Raven yelled. "He's getting worse!"
"We're running out of time," I spoke, kneeling in front of the vials. "If you tell us, they'll stop. Please. We just want to save our friend."
The Grounder simply stared back at me, and I knew reasoning was never going to work. Bellamy sighed, kneeling down next to me.
"Hey, you don't have to be here for this, alright?" He whispered.
I shook my head, looking him in the eyes. "I'm not leaving until we get that antidote."
Bellamy stared back for a moment before finally nodding. "Alright." He stood up. "Maybe this will work."
I watched as he retrieved a metal pick from the makeshift table. He adjusted it in his hand, looking back at Clarke who nodded. Bellamy took a deep breath, driving the pick into the Grounder's right hand, causing him to groan once more.
"What's taking so long?" Raven asked, poking her head through the hatch. "He stopped breathing."
"What?" Clarke asked, getting ready to run downstairs.
Raven grabbed her hand. "He started again, but next time he might not."
"He won't tell us anything." I said, standing up. "We've tried."
"Wanna bet?" Raven asked, marching over the cables next to Grounder.
Bellamy eyed her. "What are you doing?"
Raven ripped the cables out of the wall, touching them to each other, causing sparks to shoot off of them. "Showing him something new."
The Grounder began to panic, attempting to move himself away as much as he could while tied up. Raven took the cables, placing the ends of them against the Grounder's chest as he screamed out in pain.
"Which one is it?" She yelled, shocking him again. "He's all I have!"
"Stop it!" Octavia yelled.
Raven turned back to look at her. "He's letting Finn die!"
Octavia looked to Clarke's hand, grabbing the knife from her. Without hesitating, she placed the knife against her wrist, pulling it back along her arm.
"Octavia!" Bellamy called out.
I watched as the Grounder's unwavering calmness turned to panic, him attempting to lunge forward. Octavia stared at him, her eyes filled with tears. "He won't let me die."
Bellamy attempted to grab Octavia, her shoving him off before falling to her knees.
"Which one is it?" She asked, using the knife to point at each one. The Grounder nodded his head towards the last one. "This one?" She asked, earning a final nod.
Clarke reached down, grabbing the antidote. "Thank you." she said before running back downstairs, Raven and I following close behind.
...
After giving Finn the antidote, I went back upstairs to check on the Grounder, a bucket of water in my hand. I placed my hand on his, grabbing the handle of the pick. I looked back up at him, his head turned away from me.
"I'm so sorry." I mumbled, yanking the pick from his hand.
He hardly made a sound, nothing probably compared to Raven shocking him. I tossed the pick on the floor, grabbing the wet rag from the bucket and attempting to clean his hand, him shutting his fist.
"I need to clean your hand, please." I begged, trying to pry it open.
Footsteps came from behind me, Octavia appearing in my peripheral. "Here, let me try."
I nodded, handing her the cloth and watching as he opened his hand again. Taking a deep breath, I spoke again. "I'm so sorry, Octavia. We had to save Finn."
Octavia turned her head, looking me in the eyes. "For the record, I saved Finn. Nobody else."
I nodded, stepping back slightly. "You're right. We should've listened to you."
"Nobody ever does."
Not knowing what else I could say to possibly make things any better, I grabbed the pick from the floor, heading back down the ladder and out of the dropship. Looking around, I noticed everyone setting up camp again, repairing any damage from the storm. It was as if Finn almost dying and the Grounder never happened.
"We'll get it cleaned up." Bellamy spoke, standing next to me.
I scoffed, walking past him. "I wish this was the only mess we had to deal with."
"Athena," Bellamy spoke, grabbing my hand with the pick in it. I spun back around, our eyes meeting. "Who we are and who we need to be to survive are very different things."
We remained staring at each other for a few more moments. I noticed Clarke approaching, slowly, her eyes falling to our still touching hands. I pulled mine away, clearing my throat.
"What are we going to do about him?" Clarke asked, nodding to the dropship. "We can't keep him locked up in there forever."
"If we let him go, he'll come back. Not alone next time." Bellamy sighed. "Not easy being in charge, is it?"
Clarke sighed, looking away.
Bellamy gave me one last look before heading off to help the others. I placed my free hand on Clarke's shoulder. "Hey, everything is going to be alright. Our people will be here soon."
"Not soon enough."

the first few days felt crucial to stay with grant. no matter what had happened between the two of them recently, she would never wish him dead. she couldn't. hunter had shown her which wounds were important to watch, and how to help change the dressing because at the time...grant had barely been conscious. but once it felt safe to leave grant alone in his apartment, octavia retreated back to hers in desperate need of new clothes and some essentials. she waited until the middle of the day, hoping bellamy was anywhere but their apartment however, as she walked the lengthy hallway...she forgot to account for nick. bellamy too loud in her mind as he continued to blow up her phone.
emerald hues locked with nick's as he came out of the apartment just down from hers, teeth tugging at her bottom lip, waiting for his reaction. he looked like hell. like he's spent the past few days wallowing in all the dark emotions that gloss his gaze.
after sunday night, octavia's one of the last people nicklas wants to see. not the last...but she's pretty fuckin' close. so when he notices her just by her apartment, no doubt trying to sneak in while blake is not there, half of him screams to turn right around. go back inside. let her do her thing and not engage because despite what she's done, she's still the little kid he's taken care of. but he's been listening less and less to that side lately. instead, nicklas shakes his head, heading down the hallway, but paying octavia no attention.
as nicklas comes near her, all octavia can smell is whiskey. whiskey and stale cigarettes that make her head swim. he doesn't look at her. doesn't speak to her. he doesn't even acknowledge that she's there, sparking annoyance in her gaze. how dare he be mad at her. she is not the one who did anything wrong. if anything, she's the only one, save hunter, out of those men that did anything right. but when he goes to walk past her, octavia's hand darts out to stop him. " what? you're just going to pretend i don't exist? "
every muscle in nick's body tenses as octavia wraps her hand around his arm, but he makes no attempt to pull from her. his head shakes, eyes still forward. " yeah, i'm tryin', wanna help me out with that? " he asked dryly, his free hand plucking her fingers off his jacket before he readjusted himself.
" so it's like that? " she asked, head tilting with an exasperated look on her face. blue eyes snapped toward her, glaring down at her. " yeah, it's like that, octavia. " nick said harshly.
" let me get this straight, you abandon your brother, no, sorry you beat the living hell out of him, let my brother nearly kill him, your supposed friend....i save him from dying so that you don't spend the rest of your life with his blood on your hands and what? that hurt your feelings? pissed you off a bit, made you feel bad about yourself and so you're done with me? " octavia scoffed, shoving her key in the lock before throwing open the door. " screw you, nick. " she tossed over her shoulder.
each response sits on the tip of his tongue, waiting to strike as she tries to cut him with every word she spits. it's only the comment about grant being his brother that he sinks his teeth into. unwilling now to leave the conversation be as he followed into the blake apartment right on her heels. " that's your problem right there! you just say shit without having a fucking clue what you're talking about. just act when no one asks you to. how about you stop tryin' to fix everybody else's shit and you start fixing yours? the trainwreck is going to sit here and judge me? you don't know shit about me and him. " nicklas ranted, following her every step of the way while she refused to stop moving, and packing, irritating him further.
" oh please, " octavia laughed stiffly, " don't, don't try and tell me i don't see what i see. " octavia said, shoving more clothes into a bag of hers. nick could lie to a lot of people. he did as far as she was aware, and much like grant, he didn't talk about his life before this place. but while nick might have constantly been watching them all while he served drinks behind the comfort of his bar, octavia was watching him. had been since he swooped in like some hero out of one of bell's books. he might've got on her nerves and pushed all the worst trigger points but...it was only because she had missed her own brother so deeply. she's been watching him with hopeful eyes since he became her brother.
green eyes watched nicklas try to deny it, could see the anger and hurt that warred with each other in his eyes before octavia bent down, looking for something beneath her bed. " what're you doing? " nick asked, head shaking as he watched her.
as octavia stood up and turned towards nicklas, she held up a sketchbook from the dollar store, " lie to me all you want, lie to yourself, but i know you care about him. you care about all of us. " she said, opening the book wide as she set it on her bed. inside were dozens of photos in different media. some printed photos, some polaroids. octavia had meant to get a proper album for them all. to sort through them properly instead of having a few sketchbooks beneath her bed but, it worked. she flipped through a few pages until finally she came across the one she was searching for. her finger pointed to the photo of grant and nicklas' side profiles. grant sitting at the bar top while nicklas was in mid-pour of a drink. it's simple. ordinary. but they both have genuine smiles and when octavia looks at the photo, she can hear nick's laugh.
nicklas reached forward to take the book from her but instead she laid it out on her bed, his mouth snapping shut. eyes widened as octavia flipped through the book, feet slowly taking steps forward as he peered over her shoulder. her life was inside this book. everyone. sure, he knew that she was always snapping photos but this...he squinted to look at them as they passed quickly. although, his mouth instantly ran dry as she pointed out the photo of him and grant. instead of arguments, and rebuttals, nicklas fell quiet, studying the photo.
" you may hate him right now...but, " octavia shrugged as she pulled her backpack on, leaving the sketchbook exposed on the bed. " you know what they say about that, such a thin line between love and hate, " she said, staring at the way nicklas moved towards the album, finger reaching out to trace the image. if anyone understood that, especially with grant, it was her. nicklas couldn't lie to her, because she knew what that look in his eye meant. he loved grant, so much that the love itself and all the choices grant makes hurt. " you all are wrong. now fix it. " with that, octavia left nicklas alone in her room.
