all jokes aside, lestat and louis' last embrace in ep. of season 2 was one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful final point of a character's arch that i have seen in a while.
all the previous times in which the two have looked at each other, they alway put up a sort of sheen, a tailoring of the self in order to either appeal, scare, impress or hurt the other. It was the rich Lestat de Lioncourt or the powerful ancient vampire, it was the tough, charming street smart Louis de Pointe du Lac or the loving and appeasing partner. Both, i believe, were partially scared of the other and the limb numbing, will shattering emotions that their love made them feel. They alway had to shield the real self with a masquerade of some sort.
But in that last embrace it was simply lestat and louis, two broken men who shattered each other and yet could still find respite in the known shape of the other's arms. To me it felt like they were meeting the truest manifestation of the other for the first time, they exposed the carnage each made to the other and forgave every speck of blood because ultimately they realized they realized all this. That they had to become something else until they had broken every bone of the fears that commanded them, they had to in order to see the other in his entire emotional self.
this cinematic warmed my heart so much. i love wise and belle. their bond and relationship as siblings is so sweet and warm and real and the way they encourage each other, look out for each other... they love each other so dearly... ah!! best siblings! love them both!!!
