Ahhh the beautiful cliche photo of a honeymoon suite viewing the Eiffel tower in the evening...if you ever wondered where they take those, its the Hotel Regina Louvre! Beautiful views of the Effiel tower, a close walk to the Palais Garnier for a lovely evening at the opera, the Louvre, Jardin du Palais Royal....and then? Dinner alongside the Seine! Shockingly affordable if booked far enough out...

Ooh this so is your niche, and I'm here for it😄 So, got any headcanons about travelling/vacations? Town line is gone, Swan-Mills family can do what their hearts desire...😊
ooooohhh this is a good one!!! thank you my dude! as always, i got very carried away, but y'all know this about me by now ;)
i think at first, after everything settles down, they would be kind of tentative to leave storybrooke, because it finally feels safe there. but with some encouraging (*cough* whining) from their son, emma and regina would definitely be up for some trips!
i can see henry suggesting the idea of a family vacation, and though at first emma and regina are unsure and super over-protective, it becomes swan-mills family tradition to go away at least once a year, and they take turns to choose where they go (as long as the others do agree of course)
i think regina, once she gets over the initial anxiety of leaving storybrooke, would really want to travel and see the world! not only is she a huge nerd, she went straight from being very sheltered by an oppressive mother to locked up by her husband to being a queen with constant duties and a war to fight - she has never had the time or agency to just explore and adventure before, and it gives her a sense of freedom she's always wanted
so regina's choices of location are more cultural/historic, or else just natural wonders. she wants to go to historic cities in europe, barcelona and rome and so on.
she drags emma and henry to all the ruins and galleries and museums and they goof around while regina reads all the guides and info. sometimes emma is abandoned because henry has inherited regina's nerd traits and starts rattling off facts too
(emma is secretly very okay with this, because seeing regina so enthralled is adorable, and henry is also super cute when he's being a nerd. she loves watching them discuss stuff and get excited together, running around all the sites)
regina's ultimate destination though? PARIS. regina mills is the paris of people.
she gets emma to go with her for a weekend, just the two of them, and drags her around the louvre and they have lil romantic walks by the seine and emma gets super bored when regina drags her around all the designer boutiques and perfume stores, but it's worth it to be able to take her out to fancy dinners and see how happy she is
regina is also the admin queen. she books flights, reviews hotels and places to eat, and most importantly pACKS. she makes many lists and packs everything they could possibly need very neatly.
meanwhile, emma shoves some clothes and a phone charger into a suitcase the night before. this gives regina untold stress and anxiety, but somehow it always works out okay.
when it's emma's turn to pick locations, she's pretty easygoing but prefers fun, adventure and activity-packed things. (i can imagine any days outs foster homes took her on as a kid were pretty boring, low budget stuff) so she wants to go hiking and snorkelling and tasting weird food!
henry pretends not to be enthusiastic bc he is a moody teenager, but the minute he gets out there and emma takes him to the events, he's a little kid again
this is where it's regina's turn to get dragged along and put up with them. she is often reluctant to try stuff and will suggest she just stay on the beach or read by the pool while emma and henry go trekking or scuba diving or whatever, and sometimes she will, but occasionally emma and henry will both be giving her the puppy face and she's like fine whatever and actually ends up enjoying herself
between these proper holidays abroad, they often will do little road trips to new york or to the national parks for a few days! emma is roadtrip playlist maker extraordinaire, henry makes up increasingly ridiculous driving games that become classic traditions, and regina rations out the snacks because she knows if she didn't they'd be gone in the first hour
i also want the three of them to get invited on holiday with snow and david just bc i think it would be cute and funny. imagine! and imagine the weird lie about how they're related they'd have to tell the people at the hotel - one time, henry yells 'grandpa!' in the pool when david splashes him and emma is like 'oh yes. a fun cool inside joke between my son and his... uncle? yeah, that's my brother!'
bonus: not sure how in character this one actually is, but imagine how funny a storybrooke-gang girls trip to vegas would be (i mean emma, regina, snow, ruby, belle, zelena etc all just checking into a showy hotel and having a weekend away to blow off some steam! emma would get super competitive, the living legend that is drunk snow would return, zelena would probably book them in to see magic mike without telling anyone lmao)
#thanks for this one my good dude!!!#so much fun!!#and feels good to be back on my niche again#swan queen headcanon queen is back in business bitches ;)))#swan mills family#swan queen headcanons#swan mills charming family#emma swan#regina mills#henry swan mills#snowing

european holiday

Jeanne d’Arc
Visitors to the Louvre and the Tuileries Gardens are often surprised to stumble across a glittering gold statue of a soldier on horseback, seemingly guarding the posh Hotel Regina that overlooks the area. And many snap pics of the equestrian sculpture without ever really knowing that they’ve captured the likeness of one of France’s most celebrated heroines and a saint of the Roman Catholic Church.
The statue honors teenager Jeanne d’Arc (Joan of Arc), a peasant from northeast France who became a commander in the French military and led several victories over the invading English forces during the Hundred Years’ War. Jeanne d’Arc claimed that she had received visions from the Archangel Michael, Saint Margaret and Saint Catherine directing her to battle and to help defeat the English.
The equestrian statue of Joan of Arc, located on the Place des Pyramides in the 1st arrondissement, is one of the most famous in Paris.
It’s a statue that since its creation in the 19th century has always been a political symbol, but whose history is unknown. Indeed, it is no longer the original statue that we can see today, secretly replaced ten years after its creation.
In 1870, after the defeat of the country in the 1870 Franco-Prussian War, the Third Republic wanted to restore pride and hope, and commissioned a statue of Joan of Arc, national heroine.?
The decision is made to raise an equestrian statue a few meters from the place where she was wounded in 1429. The statue was inaugurated in 1874.
But very quickly, the realization is criticized. The sculptor, Emmanuel Frémiet, who was working on the second version he has to deliver to the city of Nancy, decided to modify the horse for this other statue. And, secretly, made a new equestrian statue for the place des Pyramides. But how to replace it without being seen?
In 1898, during the construction of the metro, the statue had to be removed. A unique opportunity for Frémiet who, without saying anything to anyone, replaced the old sculpture with the new one. And cover it with a golden patina to hide the substitution.
This is how the statue you can see today is not the same one that was originally placed in the center of the square…

Update!! 6 months!
So this update is very late and needed! I have been very busy seeing my exchange friends as over the past month my oldies have been going home. A lot has happened recently but the biggest would be Eurotour.
Eurotour was 18 of the best days of my life. I’m not going to cover every aspect of it because this post would be very long, however, you can have some of my favorite memories. We began the trip on the 18th of May and we drove to Berlin. After a few stops picking up the last few exchange students and getting lunch, we finally made it to Berlin. Everyone was very excited and ready to get to the hostel. By the time we had got our rooms sorted, we were taken to dinner in a restaurant that was decorated in a very old typical German way with wooden ceilings and wooden furniture and animal heads hung on the walls. For dinner, we had chicken and some potatoes and a strange salad. After dinner, we were given free time to walk around and explore the city. A group of us headed to visit a park that some of the boys wanted to go to. By the time we had been there had a look around, gotten a few photos it was time to walk back to the hostel. We spent the next day seeing the Berlin wall, which was absolutely beautiful and a memorial to the Jews. We then had free time to go explore the city for ourselves. Later our councilors surprised us with a trip up the Berlin T.V tower. The tower is 250m tall and we went to the top. At the top, you have a 360º view of Berlin. Afterward, we had more free time which we spent exploring the city again.
The next day we drove to Czech where we stopped and looked in a concentration camp. It was a very strange experience but it was very good to hear about what happened there and the type of prisoners they had. this camp held a lot of political prisoners of war as well as Jewish. from the camp tour we continued our drive to our hotel which was just outside of Prague. The hotel was huge and consisted of two main areas, one where the rooms were and another which held activities and the dining area. We stayed for two nights in this hotel and spent a day exploring Prague. We visited the Old Castle which was a beautiful huge Gothic-style building. After spending an hour there to walk around, see the view and take some photos (unfortunately the line was way too long to get into the castle so we didn’t go inside) we headed down to the see more of the city. It was so beautiful and full of life and many small streets and gorgeous buildings. We spent a few hours exploring different sections of the city and then spent some time relaxing before meeting with the group again.
Over the next day, we drove to Vienna. We didn’t do anything else that day apart from having a small look around and eating dinner. The next day we spent driving around Vienna seeing the beautiful buildings and making a few stops to see the Schönbrunn Palace and the Hundertwasserhus. The Hundertwasserhus was a unique building that looked like it had been patchworked together because it was so miss-matched however it was absolutely gorgeous. The Schönbrunn Palace was still as magnificent as I had thought when we visited in 2016 and we explored some parts of the garden that I hadn’t seen at the last visit. From here we went and ate lunch. Alanna, Zara, Emily and I had some pasta and afterwards, I met up with Agnes. We went and had a coffee and talked and caught each other up about what we were doing and how our families were. It was really great to see her again. We were together for a few hours before she helped me find Alanna and Zara. Once I had said goodbye to Agnes we had more free time to just look around the section of the city near our hostel and shop.
Next, it was onto Lido di Jesolo. We drove over the border of Austria and Italy and the view was just amazing. The mountains were stunning and very picturesque. The drive was long and we got to Lido di Jesolo in the evening. We found our rooms (we were very lucky getting a room on the top floor) and then decided to go to the beach. It was really nice to go to a beach again that wasn’t super muddy or super rocky. We spent a few hours there before heading back to the hotel and turning in for the night. The next day we went to Venice! We drove over to where we would catch the ferry to Venice. Once we had arrived in Venice we had a small tour and then our guides and councilors surprised us with Gondal rides. The rides lasted about half an hour but they were beautiful. Venice was so amazing and being able to see part of it from the small trip on the canals was truly special. Once our Gondola ride was over we had free time to explore the city. First, we went and bought huge ice-creams in waffle which were really delicious. We also bought some fresh fruit and found a small street with steps at the end that we sat on and were able to enjoy the sun, not have tourists crowding it and just enjoy the canals. From there we went and had a look at some souvenir shops and more of the small streets and buildings. Eventually, we found our way back to our meeting place and met up with the others and then we headed back to the hostel. Once we were back at the hotel and had had dinner we went down to the beach for the rest of the evening. That night Alanna, Zara, Emily and I decided to sleep on our balcony because it was a beautiful night and we had the top floor and a huge balcony. Surprisingly our sleep wasn’t that bad however we were awoken by church bells that rang for about 20 minutes. That day was reserved for us all to spend it at the beach. So after breakfast, we headed down and set up for the day. We spent the day lying in the sun and swimming. For lunch we had pizza and it was delicious! I think we ate about one pizza each. That evening we went and did karaoke at a restaurant near the hotel. It was a lot of fun.
Day 10 we drove through Italy stopping in Verona, which is famously known for Romeo and Juliet. We saw the Arena in Verona which was great although it was under construction so there was a lot of fences and building supplies sitting near. We were also taken to Juliet's balcony which was in a small courtyard and was very sweet. We then had two hours free time in which we went and had lunch, (pasta that was so delicious), and saw a little more of the town. Then it was time to continue driving to our hotel for the night.
The next day we continued driving to reach Avignon. We drove through the Alps which were magnificent and truly mesmerizing. Our day stop was in Nice which is such a beautiful city. Here we were given free time to see the city and possibly go swimming if we wanted. First, we headed up to the Castle Hill to see the view from the top. It was so beautiful seeing how vibrant blue the ocean was and how full of life it made the city seem. From here we headed down to get lunch and sit on the beach. We lost track of how long we were lying on the beach because we all fell asleep slightly because the sun was so warm and the ocean sound was very calming. When we all decided it would be best for us to get up we went for a small walk around and found some macarons to try. They were very delicious. I bought an ice-cream macaron and a normal one. The ice-cream macaron was a giant macaron with ice-cream as the filling. By the time we had finished here and had seen a little more of the city, it was time to continue our drive to Avignon.
Day 12 we were taken to Pont Du Gard which is an old Roman aqua bridge. We walked down across the bridge and down to the river which runs underneath it. We went swimming down part of the river and, although the water was very cold, it was very refreshing and nice. We only had half an hour before we had to head to the bus for a picnic lunch. From there we headed back to the town of Avignon to see the city. Inside the city is the Palace of the popes which was huge and sat just higher than the rest of the city. Here we were given free time so I went into the Cathedral next to the Palace with Sofia, Regina, and Marianna. Sofia and I then went together to see some of the city and found a very cute merry-go-round which we went on. Soon we meet up with a few of the others and walked back to our hostel where a few of us went in the pool.
Now it was time to go to Paris! We spent the day driving, only stopping for lunch. Once we had made it to our hotel and had our rooms sorted we went to go on a river tour around Paris. The boat tour took us around to see a few of the attractions such as what was left of the Notre Dame, and of course the Eiffel tower. The tour was really nice and due to the time of day (evening), it was very beautiful. Once the tour was over it was time to head back to the hostel. The next day we went to the Louvre Museum. We spent two hours there walking around. Firstly, of course, we went and saw the Mona Lisa. Us exchange students took over and pushed our way to the front to get some good photos. From there we went to another part of the museum and Alanna, Owen and I got separated from the other group so we just went off looking at other parts. Zara was unfortunately very sick so she stayed at the hotel. Alanna, Owen and I walked around looking at the paintings. We spent two hours there and then went to meet up with the rest of the exchange students. From here we went to the Eiffel tower and were given free time. We went to get lunch, first, we had Chipotle and then we got a savory crepe (I had ham and cheese) and it was delicious! Next, we went back to the group and were given the opportunity to go see the Square Nadar. It was quite warm so we went and got some cold drinks and then begun our walk to the top. Once we got there we had a look down some of the streets and got ice cream. Soon it was time to go back to the Eiffel tower. There we waited to go up but we had problems with the tickets so unfortunately, we didn’t get to go up the tower. However, we went and found a nice patch on the grass and watched the light show. We then walked back to the hotel, so that we could get enough sleep for the next day. The next day it was time for Disney Land! Whilst we waited for our councilors to get our tickets we went and had lunch at a sandwich place inside the Disney park. fro there we went and got our tickets and went inside. Alanna, Emily, Jom and I went on Space Mountain as soon as we got it. We had to leave Zara out in some shade because she was very sick, she ended up going back to the hotel. After Space Mountain and deciding what we were going to do (Emily went back with Zara) Alanna and I went on to the next rides. We spent a while in lines and going on rides whilst also seeing the park. Eventually, we found some others and walked around with them. After a while, in Disneyland Park, we went over to look at the Studio park. Alanna and I went on two rides, the Aerosmith rollercoaster and the Tower of Terror. Both were really great although I think the tower of terror would’ve been better if we could understand what it was saying. By this time we were pretty exhausted and headed back to Disneyland park and met with the others. By this time everyone was super tired and we went back to the hotel.
From Paris, it was onto Holland. To get there we went through Belgium, stopping in Brussels for a few hours. In Brussels, our main sight to see was Manneken Pis. This is a tiny little statue of a naked little boy peeing. One story behind the legend of it is that a fathers son went missing and the father found him peeing on the street corner and so in gratefulness of finding his son decided to build a statue on the corner he was found. Of course, there are several other stories behind it but this was the one we were told. After a few hours of free time, we then had to continue our trip to the Nederlands and get to our hotel in Doorwerth.
Our 17th day of the trip was spent in Amsterdam. To start our day we went on a canal tour through Amsterdam, passing several sights such as parts of Jordaan, and Anne Franks house. Once the tour was over our councilors and guides surprised us with tickets to Madame Tussauds. We were given free time to go in there and then see what we wanted in Amsterdam. Madame Tussauds was really cool, my favorite was probably the Avengers. Once we had seen all of Madame Tussauds we went to get lunch and then had a look around at some of the canals and went and did some shopping. After doing some more walking around we had to head back to the guides so we could go back to the hotel. Once we got back to the hotel we had some free time and then we had a final night party and flag signing. It was really great and a lot of fun.
The final day was spent driving back to Denmark. It was a sad trip because over 18 days we had all become very close and considering a lot of them were leaving shortly after. Once we had said our goodbyes it was time to head home.
After Eurotour I spent a lot of time seeing my oldies and spending as much time with them as I could before they left. I also moved host families to the Schwartzs during this time. My new family is very welcoming and I have adjusted great. Due to some host family complications, I moved to what was supposed to be my third family so they had planned their summer holidays and couldn’t fit me in their plans last minute so right now I am back with Birgitte, Lars, and Zofie, no longer Victor who left to Mexico yesterday for his exchange. Tomorrow we will go to Møn for a few days, which will be nice.
Tusind tak for reading it all 😁

Picture of Beauty (Ch 5/?)
Summary: Fashion house Jefferson-Mills needs inspiration. Photographer Gold believes a librarian he photographed by accident has what it takes. Now it’s up to Gold to turn Belle into a model worthy of Paris Fashion Week. Based on the movie Funny Face.
AO3
A couple hours later the pilot once again came over the speaker, signaling their decent. Gold heard bursts of laughter, indicating that Belle, Jefferson and Grace had finally emerged from the back bedroom. He could pinpoint Belle’s melodoldic laughter among the others. To his disappointment, they took seats behind him. He’d been so preoccupied with Grace and their annual tournament of cards that he’d barely been able to talk to Belle on the flight. He craned his neck to try to catch of glimpse of them but the high backed seats obscured the group.
Once they were safely on the ground, the chance to stretch his knee properly was too great so he departed the plane with Regena first. He should have brought his cane. But when he was packing he had seen it propped next to his suitcase and, while it wasn’t an age-related injury, for the first time the walking aid had made him feel old. And so he’d left it behind. As long as he didn’t walk long distances and had an assistant set up any low shots, he’d be fine. He and Regina crossed the tarmac to stand by the two cars ready to whisk them to their hotel and waited for Jefferson, Grace and Belle to emerge.
Grace, the only one who didn’t seem like she’d been on a plane for 7 hours, bounded off the stairs, “Wait ‘til you see her,” she told them, “She’s sooooo pretty.”
She was already pretty, Gold thought automatically at he looked to the forms emerging from the plane. From what he’d gathered of Belle’s kindness, she’d probably let Grace paint her face every shade of pastel.
The first thing to emerged were her legs. Her very bare legs made all the more shapely by the towering red heels they’d put her in. Despite probably not having much practice, she didn’t stumble or trip. In fact she looked perfectly poised as she carefully navigated the plane stairs. Compared to the long skirts she’d favored before, in the sleeveless blue lace dress she wore now she looked practically naked, even though the new frock was perfectly chaste. The new outfit brightened her more, if that was possible. She reminded him of a Scots bluebell. Her hair, which was usually pulled off her face in some way, had been let down and curled so it tumbled down around her shoulders. Presented with the whole picture, his mouth went dry. ‘Pretty’ didn’t begin to describe her.
Jefferson reached out and nudged Gold’s chin shut, though he hadn’t realized it had fell open. The designer looked very satisfied with himself, which made Gold nervous for what kind of clothes he’d be putting her in going forward. Jefferson shoved Belle towards him, “Take her to the Eiffel Tower,” he demanded.
Belle wasn’t ready for the jostle, especially on her new heels, and Gold reached out to steady her. He was forced to grip the soft, perfumed skin of her arms. “Me?” he questioned, “I have work.” It made him so unnerved to have her in his arms he had to tamp down the urge to push her back at Jefferson.
Jefferson was unperturbed. “The girl’s never been to Paris, Gold. She’s all dressed up with nowhere to go.”
“I want to g…” Grace exclaimed and Jefferson clamped a hand down on her mouth.
“We,” he stressed, “have to finish the clothes. No clothes, nothing to photograph. There’s no darkrooms to hide in here, Gold. Have fun,” he sauntered off, wrestling Grace into the first car. “We’ll get everything to the hotel.”
Gold looked to Regina, who finally glanced up from her phone, “I’m too busy to care what any of are talking about,” she said bluntly, but pointed at Belle, “Just don’t get bags under your eyes, we have a photoshoot tomorrow.”
Belle took a step away from Gold and out from under his hands that lingered on her skin. The last thing she wanted was to be thrust onto an unwilling sightseer, “You don’t have to…” she began.
But Gold had managed to compose himself, reverting to his usual formality. “Nonsense, Miss French. I’m partly to blame for you being here. The least I could do is show you around.” He opened the door to the second car, “Miss French, may I escort you to the Eiffel Tower?” he asked properly, bowing dramatically.
She smiled and curtsied, “Why thank you,” she played along. She slid into the spacious backseat behind the partition that separated them from the driver.
“Have fun, kids!” Jefferson waved out the window as the car that held him, Grace and Regina pulled away.
Belle settled in the plush seat. The driver informed them it would be a 45 minute car ride. Beside her, Gold stiffened at the announcement and rubbed at his knee nervously. Belle remembered speculating on the plane whether they’d be able to connect on this trip like they had bonded in the library. It had felt so nice to talk to someone who didn’t think her strange. At least, he hadn’t acted as though he found her ramblings about books and travel bizarre. Maybe that had been just a ruse to gain her trust and cooperation and now that she was in Paris he could ignore her. Belle turned to the man she hoped to get to know better, “Is the view from the top amazing?” she ventured.
Gold shrugged, “I wouldn’t know. I’ve never been.”
She gasped, slapping her palms down on the white leather, making him jump, “You’ve been to Paris how many times and you’ve never gone to the top of the Eiffel Tower before?”
He was baffled by her disbelief, “I come here for work.”
Belle rolled her eyes. If she was given an all-expenses paid trip anywhere, especially Paris, she sure wouldn’t spend all of it working. “You work too much,” she scolded, shaking her head and looking out the window, her eyes devouring the French scenery.
Something about her disapproving tone made him smile. It reminded him of similar admonishments from Bae. “Maybe,” he conceded. His phone pinged and he pulled it out of his jacket. It was a text. Rarely anyone texted him because they knew they wouldn’t get a response back but his son liked to send him pictures from New York sometimes. Gold frowned at the screen.
Belle peered across the seat, “What is it?”
“Jefferson. He called ahead and said we should just go to the front of the line and give our names.”
Belle beamed, “That was kind of him.”
“Mmhm,” he agreed dubiously. He believed Jefferson had other motives. Jefferson, who rarely let things develop at their own pace, whether that be clothes or people. Now Jefferson had purposefully placed him in very close proximity to a very pretty girl and was trying to...what, tempt him? It was ridiculous. He and Belle had a professional relationship, one. Two….well, look at her. And look at him. He was putting her in front of the camera for a reason, and not just for her looks. She radiated light and everything that was good in the world. He was behind the camera for a reason.
When they arrived, they strolled through the Esplanade on their way to the entrance. Looking up at the structure, they lingered on the intricacies of the wrought iron lattice that are lost in photographs. It was difficult to appreciate the majesty of the tower until you were under it. Gold watched Belle as she spun on her heels, never looking down and the soft smile never leaving her lips. He was surprised to think of how enjoyable it was going to be to see Paris and the circus that was Fashion Week though her eyes instead of his tired, jaded ones.
She bypassed the gift shop completely. After giving their names she didn’t even ask him before forgoing the stairs, which he knew he wouldn’t be able to manage, and leading the way to the elevator. They stopped at the first floor to see the transparent bottom, peeking down at where they had just stood minutes before. They exchanged queasy looks and scurried back to the opaque flooring. They rambled through the interactive displays on the history of the tower, which Belle of course had to read thoroughly instead of scanning and feigning interest like everyone else. If he was going to visit the Eiffel Tower with anyone, he was glad it was her. Not to compare them, but he couldn’t picture his ex-wife lingering over flipping blocks of historical photos or looking thrilled instead of terrified when they found out that the machines that operate the Tower’s lift they road in were more than a century old.
The second floor offered views of the Louvre and Notre Dame. Belle was tickled to see the Eiffel Tower’s Michelin-starred restaurant was named after Jules Verne. They pressed their faces up against the glass of the macaroon bar, admiring the dazzling rainbow display of biscuits of every flavor. Gold pulled out his card and bought them a small box of chocolate, coffee, lemon, and strawberry to share.
“You didn’t have to do that,” Belle smiled as she nibbled on the strawberry.
“Wasn’t for you. I’m going to need something to settle my stomach after the ascent.”
She giggled, “Ready to go to the top?”
He steeled himself. “We’ve come this far together.”
Packed inside the glass-walled lift, Gold kept his eyes on the signs warning them of pickpockets instead of the structure zooming by them. To distract himself from the motion, he was forced to focus on the closeness of Belle. Their hips bushed against each other as the other people in the carriage jockeyed for position. She didn’t seem to have the same reservations as he about looking out the windows. Her curls tickled his nose and he breathed in. Lavender and vanilla. Two calming scents he zeroed in on until the lift blessedly came to their final destination.
They shuffled out to the open air deck. Suddenly, Paris was at their feet. He had to admit, the view was stunning.
“Isn’t it amazing?” she whispered beside him. Other than the voices of the other tourists and the wind, it was quiet at the top. You could see Paris but couldn’t hear it. The breeze whipped her hair gently around her and, despite the surge of people, she was completely serene.
He drew the Fujifilm X100F he always kept on him out of his jacket. She hear the snap and whirled around. “Practice,” he explained smoothly, sliding the camera back into his pocket. “You must get used to the camera.”
Belle’s hunger for the sights and sounds of Paris were hardly satiated. They were barely back in the car and pulling away from the Eiffel Tower when she had her window rolled down and was leaning hard on the door. He was afraid he was going to have to catch her as she fell out. He watched her head oscillate for a while before he leaned forward and rapt on the glass partition. They’d only been in the car ten minutes.
“Are we at the hotel already?” It was hard not to hear the disappointment in her voice.
“I thought we could walk for a bit,” he suggested. She perked up immediately.
He led them confidently down the street towards Le Grand Pigalle. She kept craning her neck up at the storefronts, wondering how he know where they were when they were surrounded by tall identical tan buildings. No longer watching her step, she teetered on her heels, tipped and almost fell. Gold caught her and, without comment, looped her arm snuggly through his.
They walked like that for a few blocks until she was forced to extricate herself to rub at her forearms, “Jefferson didn’t think to give me a coat.”
“No, I’m sure he did,” he mumbled, effortlessly shucking his coat and settling it over her narrow shoulders. She tried to parse his words but they didn’t make any sense to her.
Soon after he stopped her at the corner, holding a door open for her and ushered her through the hotel lobby. “Gold and French, checking in. Our luggage arrived ahead of us,” he announced to the attendant.
The desk manager handed them their tasseled keys and Gold thanked him in French. They walked silently through the carpeted hallways before they were forced to split, her room on the right, his on the left.
While she thought the ice had been effectively broken with their adventure to the Eiffel Tower, he’d been oddly distant with her since giving her his jacket. Just when she’d thought they’d made progress and become friends, he slipped back into his stiff, polite manner. “Thank you,” she told him, “for taking me.”
He bowed his head slightly “It was my pleasure, Miss French. Goodnight.” He disappeared behind his door.
“Night,” she replied, and slipped into her own room. It wasn’t until she leaned against the door, the excitement of the day finally catching up to her, she realized she hadn’t given him his jacket back.

Regina smiled wide. "I knew... You'd be a wonderful mother. Not so strict one but still wonderful." She tolted her head one side to press a sweet peck on Emma's lips. "You are a wonderful mother and a child. I don't know how I can want one more kid when I have three already." She touched Emma's cheek softly. "Hold me close mama bear, hold me tight all night." She fully rested her back over email front tilting her head back on her shoulder as she stared in the sky.
Day 2
The next was very much eventful, with Regina dragging Emma anywhere and everywhere. First she made them walk all the way to the Notre Dame. The island was beautiful and Emma staring at the huge architecture, Regina couldn't think any better time to take her photo. She made them walk all over to Eiffel and then up to Champs-Élysées. Somehow she even tricked her wife to do shopping after some lunch. It was almost 5 when they were back to the hotel and at night Regina ler them to the basilica with the most beautiful view on earth. Place du Tertre. They had a small lunch there, took lots of picturrs and she bought them a bittle of wine so they could share it on the stairs just dtaring at the view of Paris. Once they were back to their room late at night, Regina didn't have any more energy left to make love.
Day 3
Regina had bought them tixkets earlier that month so they had visited Louvre Museum, to show Emma bits of the art why could see in their busy program. They saw Mona Lisa and oh so many other things such as Winged Victory of Samothrace, Venus de Milo and Lamussu. And of coursr make out at the palace gardens but it was just perks of the visit. They had taken tons of photos as they walked from Louvre to the ferris wheel. It was the day for the gallery opening, so with a quick lunch in the museum and walking along the halls to see as much of the things as possible, they went back to the hotel.

SQW Day 4 - Operation Sparkle [Family Vacation]
My entry for day 4 of the Swan Queen Week, prompt “Family Vacation”. Usual disclaimer applies. Thanks for reading!
“Are you sure about this, Ma? So many things could go wrong! I mean, there’s a 95% probability Mom will catch on before you’re even halfway through with the plan. She’ll notice something’s up and the surprise is going to be ruined. Maybe you should go with something less over the top? Like dinner in a nice restaurant or a moonlit picnic, or even just a weekend in Vermont next Valentine’s day?”
Henry and Emma are sitting in Emma’s bug, speaking hurriedly to finish their talk before pulling up in their garage lane.
“No, Henry. It has to be huge. I want to do something nice for your mother, and I want it to be perfect. She deserves it. We just need to be better at hiding it than she is at sleuthing. That’s why I absolutely need your help. It’s essential that she thinks this vacation is your idea, okay? This way she shouldn’t be too suspicious and Operation Sparkle should be a success.”
Henry makes an uncertain pout but agrees nonetheless. That evening, over dinner, he pleads for a family vacation in Paris (“But Mom, none of us has ever been! It would be so great! And it would help me with my French!”), and he does his best to convince her. After a couple days of discussing it with Emma, Regina eventually agrees and the Swan-Mills family makes their reservations for the following spring.
As soon as they land in Paris, their vacation takes a magical turn. Regina has been slightly afraid of flying, but she’s thankfully gotten quickly over it. The three of them are immediately taken with everything they are seeing. Henry is snapping pictures like a madman, Emma is pointing at pretty much everything she sees and Regina’s eyes are glistening madly. As they get in the cab that’s driving them to their hotel, Regina leans over to Henry and thanks him for suggesting the trip. Henry smiles brightly and discretely winks at Emma, who stifles a laugh in a cough. The first step of the plan is completed: they’ve gotten Regina to Paris. They can now start the hardest part of their plan, which they only have a few days to complete.
The week they spend in Paris is wonderful by all aspects. They marvel at what they are seeing and they enjoy each other’s company even more than they do at home; Emma even jokes Parisians must put something in the water to make teenage boys less moody and small-town mayors less strict, and Regina and Henry both laugh at it happily. Henry takes his role in Operation Sparkle extremely seriously: whenever Emma gives him his designated and subtle signal, he distracts Regina by showing her yet another pigeon or asking for yet another delicious treat he’s just spotted in a shop. Regina doesn’t seem to notice Henry’s sometimes ridiculous attempts at getting her attention nor Emma’s odd lingering a couple of steps behind them; she looks so enamored with Paris absolutely nothing could phase her.
They go sightseeing, and they walk so much they drill a hole in the sole of their shoes and need to buy new ones; they find relatively cheap sneakers for the whole family in a chain store and throw their old shoes in the nearest trashcan, laughing madly at their misadventure. They go to Versailles and nearly get lost in the public transportation of the way there, and then they nearly get lost in the park and they end up having to ask a gardener for directions so they don’t get locked in the park. They go for a boat ride on the Seine, and it’s so wonderfully cliché but none of them could care less. They eat crêpes and croissants – Henry swears he’s become intolerant to any food that doesn’t come from a bakery – and any kind of pastry or cheese they can find. Regina insists to try a different wine every night, and Emma is all too happy to oblige; they even let Henry try cider one evening. They go to Montmartre and on the Grands Boulevards; they walk up and down the Champs-Elysées too many times to count; they wander around the Louvre for an entire day and Regina has tear in her eyes when she looks at Michelangelo’s statues of slaves because “Emma, they look so real! Someone made these, and it pretty much looks like they’re breathing”. They go up the Eiffel tower, and they come back later when the sun has set and the tower is lit, and Emma spins Regina around, dips her and kisses her deeply before grabbing Henry and hugging her girlfriend and her son with all her strength. They get their picture taken pretty much everywhere, and they buy the most ridiculous souvenirs (including a beret, an apron and a baguette-shaped bread knife for Snow). They even go to Disneyland, despite Regina’s reticence that they have exactly the same park at home, but when Emma and Henry put on their identical pouts and puppy eyes, she can’t deny them anything, and so they go to Disneyland and laugh at each other’s pretty miserable attempts to pronounce the French titles of the Disney movies, even though Regina and Emma are proud to notice Henry’s French accent has greatly improved since the beginning of the school year. They spend a week out of time, when all that matters is the fun they’ll have that day and the fascinating new things they’ll see.
Sadly, they have to leave Paris. They all get slightly teary-eyed (Henry included) when they leave their hotel and later on, when they have to board their plane, and they try to comfort each other by promising they’ll come back together someday. They return home and, even though they’re all happy to be back in their house and see their friends and family again, they can’t help but feel slightly nostalgic.
Emma, however, doesn’t have too much time to feel sorry: the second part of Operation Sparkle was a success, but she has to get to work and get part three done quickly.
The last part of her plan arrives in the mail on the last week of April. Emma gets the last details ready and tells Henry that they’ll get into the last phase of Operation Sparkle on the weekend. Henry high fives her, and he’s ridiculously chirpy the rest of the week.
When the day arrives, Emma makes sure the three of them won’t be disturbed. Right after breakfast, she hands Regina the photo album of their trip to Paris that she’s had printed and sent home over the week and, right as Regina starts flipping through the pages, Henry calls her from the other room to ask for her help over homework. Emma and Henry wait in the kitchen, nudging each other gently and stifling giggles, even though Emma is so nervous she might drop unconscious at any moment. Once Regina is edging the end of the album, they both discretely come back into the living room. Regina’s back is to them but that doesn’t change a thing, she’s so focused on the pictures she wouldn’t have noticed them anyway. When she turns the last page, she furrows her eyebrows for a second before gasping and covering her mouth with her hand. She turns around to find Emma on one knee, brandishing an engagement ring, and Henry beaming.
On the last double page of the album, Emma’s had special photos printed: during their whole trip in Paris, she’d taken pictures of letters wherever she could find them, on shop windows, on street signs, on banners or book covers, and she’d positioned them to spell “Regina, will you marry me?”. The gesture was outrageously romantic, but somehow it was so Emma: thoughtful, clever and incredibly loving.
Regina didn’t have to think for a second before saying yes and diving into Emma’s arms, with Henry cheering both of them on.

Elis Regina - Atras da Porta - ao vivo
Banda Devassa - Rio de Janeiro. (Cultura, Esporte e Lazer). (No ato). As três moças apareceram bem machucadas. No tamanho e no talento. Cantava e dançava à frente do grupo. >>> "Vamos ouvir o Miele". >>> "Vai ver, é engraçado mesmo". E riu, e aplaudiu, e me salvou...
