Things I didn’t expect as a single woman…

I’m 46 and have been single basically my entire life. Despite being a romantic no men are romantically inclined towards me. I don’t love it but dwelling on it is not going to make it better.

As I get older I realize that women are just fine staying single was probably written by someone who was not.

I have a good job but others make more. As you get older you will probably end up living alone - which I actually quite love. It costs more to live alone, you pay all the bills alone. Which leads to things, like paying off student loans take longer. I will never be able to buy property. I will rent for the rest of my life. I will probably have to delay retirement. I have no person if I’m sick or need any form of help.

I’m fortunate to have family and friends. They will tell me I’m not alone. They mean well but it’s simply not true.

I am alone. I make it work. I don’t hate it. It wasn’t my plan but it is my life.

As more and more people live their lives alone I hope there is more support from the community and maybe in tax relief.

I am happy and I enjoy my life but being single, as I’m sure being coupled, has its drawbacks that should not be overlooked.

So no, I’m not in love with a man. But at least I will know how to love when he comes along.

My fellow men, it's a big fucking LIE and it's made up by men with a patriarchal sight. It's an immature BOY's consolation.

The world is a different place now, and believe me it doesn't work like this👆🏻(anymore, at least) Even unemployed women in their late 30's and even 40's are not dying for marriage. They still have standards and money is not even one of them. (We LOVE to think the opposite but, sorry...) They want to see some character and more importantly, "maturity" in you. I was so immature and stupid. Now I am paying for it.

Listen to women and try to understand them. Learn women from women, not from losers in your neighborhoods.

The other thing that i was thinking about in my week of having the flu is how lonely it is.

I saw my dad for a bit because he came to give me some groceries but of course I didn't want him to stay long so he wouldn't get sick also. (He has been sick a week before that so yeah, not risking it.)

But yeah, no texts from co workers. And I don't really have friends in real life anymore.

It made me think that, when I die, it will probably take a few days for people to realise something is wrong and that is kinda sad.

Then again, that is the result of wanting to be single and not have a relationship. When I'm sick, I'm sick alone.
