BROZONES BACK- new positions

Okay so I’ve seen the movie 9 times in theaters(as of like 20 minutes ago lol) and since the band is back together I was thinking about what roles the boys would have now that they’ve grown up and are completely different from when they were kids!

(These are my opinions don’t be mean to me I’ve been thinking of this movie nonstop the past month and a half)

JOHN DORY - the fun boy(man)!

Hear me out! That man is goofy. From the ways he tried to break Floyd’s diamond prison to the way he runs up to branch during the wedding(seriously why did he hop towards him?). Even his expressions are silly! Plus being the old sibling IS really difficult. I think he deserves to shut his brain off and run around for a bit. As a treat!

BRUCE- the baby(daddy)!

LISTEN I KNOW THAT SOUNDS WEIRD. But like Bruce has so much responsibilities outside of the band, I think he’d love a position without any responsibilities or rules(i.e. heartthrob 💔)

CLAY- the sensitive/serious one!

This is not surprising at all, but Clay thrives when people respect him and he’s helping people. He literally was co-running an entire town of trolls. Also his sad book club where he cries and hugs the whole time!?!? If he was in a Kpop group, his fans would go WILD. (also he gives me Wonwoo vibes cuz he’s funny, but serious Yanno?)

FLOYD- the heartthrob!

I’m not gonna say it, but y’all get what I mean. Actually I will say it he’s literally emo with pink hair and leather shorts… if he were a person and I saw him irl I’d combust. Plus he’s genuinely such a sweetheart, he’d knock everyone off their feet!

BRANCH- the leader!

Also not surprising I think! Branch has already stepped up in leadership roles in the past movies(got poppy her colors back in first movie, standing up to the clown in tbt, standing up to poppy in twt to protect the pop trolls). Leaders have to be understanding and branch was the first one to start accepting the other trolls music and grooving with it in trolls world tour. He also recognizes that being different isn’t a bad thing and his talk was the reason him and his brothers were able to sing the perfect family harmony! He’s also basically the king of the pop trolls(just waiting on the wedding<3). Also ALSO he’s always in the middle. Like when they’re performing they give the others a spotlight for a second but the main choreo has branch front and center.

👻 - OOH OKAY. Now, I could get REALLY into this with a multitude of different things but the main one has got to be not having control. It’s why he hates being “sick” and hates the aspect of having a service dog for a while. He can’t control when he’ll have a P.O.T.S flare up, he can’t control when he’ll have a bad high or low, he can’t control his tolerance to taking food by mouth nor can he control if it’ll trigger a flashback of some sorts. Mainly, he can’t control where he is on the dependency scale. Kyle needs someone to be there for extra supervision, as much as Noble has benefited him. But at the same time, Kyle is a very stubborn, independent person. He doesn’t want some constant dependency on someone. He has no control over his physical or mental health so he craves control over other factors in life so he doesn’t feel like such an unstable mess.

🫂 - Picking someone for this one was tricky but I think I’m gonna talk about Kyle and Tweek’s relationship while I have this. I see Tweek and Kyle as staying kind of close after Tweek was in their group. They help each other out, especially after Tweek is placed with the Broflovski’s during their senior year. Kyle shows Tweek some distraction techniques he’s picked up on and Tweek works with Kyle to find innovative ways to help him slowly regain some of his independence.

💔 - Such bad emetophobia. It’s not really bad when he’s not the one vomiting though. The ARFID really fucks him over. There was a short period of time where he went on and off the nasal tube, I wanna say like every now and then from 11-13. He really thought he was getting better…he wasn’t. The summer of freshman year is when he really started going downhill at a rapid pace. Just the thought of eating could send him vomiting. Sometimes it’s only for a few minutes, sometimes it's an hour plus.  It hurts, it makes him feel horrible and it happens so often. More often than not he’s shaking, hunched over the toilet bowl either fighting back or in tears. And the poor thing is left exhausted and feeling absolutely disgusting afterwards.

🌟 - This one’s a fun one too. He wants to travel, see the world you know? He’s been so coddled most of his life that he never got the proper chance to but he’s determined to make it happen.

And no one suspected that he dances until the kids are like thirteen when Stan was bored out of his mind while the gang was at Starks Pond and started doing a bunch of fun tricks to entertain himself. The rest of the groups standing there, jaws on the floor, minds blown because since when did Stanley fucking Marsh know how to do this.

👻 - Losing a loved one, whether it’s a family or friends. Kenny is immortal, he’s gonna keep coming back, but the others? Any health scare, accident, or attempt of someone worries him a lot. It’s why he always has his bag of shit, he’s so worried about losing someone.

He’s ever curious and loves to see what happens. He ends up hanging in Hell with Damien for a while before being sent back and before he knows it he’s wondering “hm, wonder if that’ll happen again-“

Clyde: 

💤 - Clyde has a rocky sleep schedule. His health issues aren’t the reason for it though, it’s Fable. As mentioned in a previous post, she’s a little demon shit and has an ungodly amount of energy. Clyde finds this hysterical until it’s time to get up for school and he’s only slept like three hours.

🦾 - Clyde’s disability for the au is still being debated! Suggestions are currently open!

🥇 - I have a general headcanon that Clyde is really good at videography! Which, for all my Tyde girlies, falls into one of my general headcanons for Tolkien which is script writing. They make short films together and his biggest accomplishment is that one of their films won first place in their school's film contest.

😶 - He’ll play outside in the snow for HOURS. Even more now than when he was a kid since he’s got Fable. Clyde will just take her out for hours and they’ll have the time of their lives.

Butters:

👽 - Yet another personality quirk: Butters always has a ridiculous amount of enthusiasm for someone who’s been through so much shit in his life. He’s an optimist, it’s what draws people in.

💔 - Okay I just really love antagonizing his parents so so much. Haven is owner trained, Butters bought her himself when he was thirteen. When she was still a puppy something minor happens and Steven isn’t very happy about it so he fucking SELLS her. And Butters is so heartbroken. He only had this dog for a week and suddenly she’s just ripped away. It’s actually Cartman (for the most part) who helps him get her back. 

💄 - I know this one’s really basic but I adore giving Butters his eye scar from ‘Fun With Weapons”. It’s very intimidating but Butters is just a silly, goofy guy. 

😶 - Y’know those Instagram and Etsy shops that sell custom service dog gear? Butters is really into sewing and he runs one! Giving gifts has never been easier, he just makes them a new piece of gear.

Cartman: 

��� - As much as I love antagonizing Cartman, I love when he has a soft spot for the main four (+Butters) a lot more. So if anyone’s acting out of character it lowkey has him shook. And with good reason, the gang has trauma from finding Stan post suicide attempt. It baffled Cartman since Stan had been acting more than okay for the past week. The bastard cares for his friends although he’ll never fucking tell them so he’s been paying attention to behavior changes ever since, even if they’re minor.

👽 - I’m actually gonna go dive a little deeper into the heterochromia thing. So if my memory is serving me correctly, the eye comes from Kenny so it’s blue. But every so often it has a purplish hue to it for a short period of time. Oh so conveniently, our favorite little poor boy is freshly back from Hell and his eye color has shifted from blue to a freakishly violet shade.

😺 - Oooooh y’all really want me to yap about Dolly. Firstly, she’s so soft. Like her fur was already soft but being that Cartman takes such good care of her, her fur is probably as good as it can get. He’s so gentle with her and she absolutely adores him. As for the rest of the kids: she’s not overly eager to go up to them but she likes them. Except for Kyle she fucking HATES him. 

😶 - Unfortunately Cartman is severely underdeveloped at the moment due to him being the most recent addition to the au so I literally don’t have anything else to say about him.

Craig: 

👻 - I feel like all of these fears have been really angsty but Craig’s is just spiders. They creep him the fuck out. Also high school musical-

🌟 - It’s really a matter of what he wants to do first. He doesn’t act like it but Craig is really ambitious. Working in something with space is always something he’s wished to do. But he’s also into music (a mix of Tweek and Stan’s fault) and wants to learn violin. 

😶 - I love headcanoning that Craig has piercings so let’s jazz this up for the au a bit. In his late teen years he was (illegally) denied service at various piercing parlors because of Saturn. So he self teaches himself how to (semi) safely do piercings without being a professional and does them for his friends if they want.

Tweek: 

👽 - Second physical quick of the ask but it’s freckles! I love giving Tweek freckles but the ones that are barely visible at any time that’s not summer. That’s when they come out. 

🫂 - I already talked about his relationship with Kyle so let’s talk about Tweek and Clyde. I only just started playing around with their dynamic a few weeks ago while writing a bunch of Staig drabbles. It’s always really funny to me because you’ve got paranoid sarcasm meets hyperactive sensitivity.

🍫 - What a little stress baker! He can’t cook for shit but the boy sure can bake. And he like over bakes too. He doubles the recipe almost every time. It used to be easy to get rid of the extras, he’d just take them to the shop so they could be sold. But after the meth bust he’d basically ding-dong-ditch his friends and leave baskets of baked goods on their doorsteps. 

😶 - Him, Kenny, Kyle, and Bebe all drove out of Colorado for the weekend when they were seventeen because they all needed a break. They stayed at an inn for the weekend and no one knew where they went. So yeah, they were having the time of their lives while everyone back home was losing their shit.

Billy Butcher's "dominating persona" is 2000000000% fake.

He's so painfully obviously masking everything about himself it's actually really sad people don't notice or care about this. What makes it obvious is how he defaults on being a natural sweetie pie sub with the people he genuinely loves. Becca was his gentle Dom and that's a canon confirmed fact in the comic and show❣️A main point of him in the series is actually how good and sweet he is as a sub vs. how horrible and evil he is as a fake Dom and he even knows this.

The masking is a defense mechanism too for how unsafe and insecure he constantly feels. It's a way to protect himself and hate himself. He is forcing himself to be everything his dad and the world would expect and want from him. It's a performance and addiction but it's also the thing that's killing him and that doesn't mean it's what he really wants or needs. It's not even that he's fearless. His fear response has just been beaten into a fight response. He's not afraid of dying because he is afraid of living especially without the people he loves. Living is something he's been made to feel is threatening and painful so he masks with that fake persona and does what he can to hate himself.

It was Becca that helped unwind him and make that persona go away. Becca who became a light in his life and helped him relax and feel safe enough to be who he really wanted to be. Hughie and Lenny and his mom helped too but his dad messed him up real bad. The saddest part about it is how much he hates himself for it and how much everyone around him believes it because it enables him and reinforces his fear and this idea that he has to be dad. Becca gave him a choice and even wanted him to get help for his issues but Billy was too scared to face the self hate and way he projected his dad on himself and so sure he'd always have Becca to avoid those issues. It gets to the point where his reliance on her becomes a bad for her too💔

Butcher is an amazing character but he's purposefully made as a good example of a "fake Dom" and performative masculinity and I really wish more people would notice the mask. He doesn't "Dom" or keep up the performance with the people he loves and values who could see through the masking. He reserves this persona for the strangers he doesn't know well enough to trust and the people he doesn't care about at all. He can't help himself with the people who enable it so he takes advantage of the moments to abuse any trust they give him but he'd much rather lazily be on his back as the partner he trusts does all the work and cares for him.

any variation of 'Shadowheart is a pillow princess' (you're failing to see her range!). also: she listens to gothic metal, she's too cool and purposefully emotionally detached for the raw intensity of emo music.

💔: If you had to remove one major character from the series, who would you choose?

If we're including antagonists: I'd remove Raphael and have Mizora subsume his role and all his characteristics. It feels weirdly 'small world' to have TWO devils obsessed with the party, and the patron of the warlock actually NOT being the one causing trouble for the party, most of the time. Also, I think Mizora as a high flying lawyer closet pathetic theatre gay with a chip on her shoulder because she has an important daddy is hilarious and also just makes her character much more than the bare bones, one-note cartoon villain it currently is.

If we're restricting ourselves to companions: ... okay extremely hot take but I'd remove Karlach, as much as I like Karlach, and the reason I'd do that is because I think each companion brings in a different aspect of d&d lore and different villains (Astarion has vampires, Lae'zel has githyanki, Shadowheart has Shar & shadow-cursed creatures, Gale has Mystra & much of 5e's magic lore), but Karlach and Wyll have to share devils as a big bad - neither of which, actually, are their final villain, which is a miss of itself, but I would like to see that really honed in. In any case, I would sacrifice Karlach so that devils, devil pacts, and devil manipulation could be explored in more depth in Wyll's storyline. Ideally we'd do a 2-for-1 and we'd replace Raphael with Mizora in this timeline for maximum impact. IMO, Wyll is too plot-important to consider removing. I also think Wyll's particular interpretation of 'neutral good', and how that actually veers into dangerous self-sacrifice and undermining of self-value, is more interesting than Karlach's, which is usually fairly uncomplicated (though there are moments e.g. soul coins where this could be complex, but aren't explored). The main thing we'd lose, asides from Samantha Beart's fucking spectacular performance, is someone with a close personal connection to Gortash, but I think that's a loss I could bear.

In return for Karlach being sacrificed we need to make Lae'zel 7ft as a matter of balance and equity. At least one character additionally needs to come from a solidly working class background, even if it's something they actively hide or don't know (I vote Shadowheart or Astarion). Someone also needs an ax to grind with Gortash. Those are the rules.

💕: What is an unpopular ship that you like?

Wyll/Lae'zel and Jaheira/Astarion are probably my favourite rare-r pairs. I've talked about Jaheira/Astarion at length before but I really think Wyll can absolutely take (& be drawn in by) Lae'zel's intensity but she also has a soft, romantic heart that pairs perfectly with his. I love the idea of her giving him swordfighting lessons as his are all noble fencing/scrappy fighting from the road, and I love him giving her dancing lessons in return. Lae'zel's arc involves seeing the beauty in the world beyond battle, in this soft world of Faerun, and Wyll is the perfect person to show her that.

I hope you remember what you talked about or can find that ask again alskdfgjfkd I'm so sorry-) First of all, OLIVE IS SUCH A GREAT FAVORITE CHARACTER YOU HAVE IMMACULATE TASTE!!! I felt SO bad for her oh my god, the moment where she tried to poison herself... holy shit it hit. it hit so hard, it's probably one of the darkest and most depressing moments in the game (and lord knows there's so much heavy shit in this game). 💔 TGAA does a lot of subversions from the main AA series, but I loved how she was an (attempted) culprit but also her "victim" was a culprit as well... it's utterly fascinating, I loved what they did with her character and 2-2 in general. She's one of the most realistic and grounded and subtle characters in the game imo, like she feels so normal: she's depressed, and she's bitter, and hateful, but not too hateful, and still sweet despite all of that... I loved her a lot, I want to give her a hug 😭🥹💔 the scene where she thanks Ryuu for helping her get closure was so touching, it made me cry. 💚 I was also really fascinated by her relationship with Shamspeare, or at least his reaction to her, considering that he didn't have any idea of her existence until the trial (I love him too, he's SUCH an interesting character)?? Barok is wonderful, by far my favorite of the main characters and imo has the best written arc of them. He needs a damn HUG and we were robbed of seeing him smile at the end 😭💔 he makes my heart ache godddddd. Van Zieks brothers make me weep. Barok and Iris make me weep *sobs*

As for Graydon...... ahaha how do I even describe it. To be honest my thoughts on him could fill an entire essay; I'm actually responsible for a lot of posts and content about him on tumblr prior to the release of the localization a;lsdfjgkfdls (though under his Japanese name, Rupert Chrogray, which I prefer because I'm a snob lol), he occupied my brain for at least a year after I played the first game, and I still love him to death. He's just a really, really beautiful and complex character to me despite only being in one case... his story is so incredibly tragic, but realistic, and relatable, and so sympathetic to me, not to excuse his actions but he really does break my heart so, so much. I love the hints of characterization we get with him and his father, with him and the brothers, and I also ADORE thinking about his potential relationship with Gina, because they're foils to each other. I think he has SO MUCH POTENTIAL for a redemption arc after the first game, because imo he really is not a bad person deep down, and could change for the better if he's just given the chance to. I just love him sooooo much, I've written a few fics about him lol and I've delved into the Japanese fan content for him because I just need so much more alsdjfgkfld, he's such a beautiful character to me; he's so human, and flawed, and contradictory, but contradictory in a way that makes so much sense and is so well executed. Honestly he could have his own game/media all on his own imo, that's how powerfully well-written he is in such a short amount of time.

I totally agree that one of the things that makes Chronicles so fun is the way you only get a little of most of the trial-only characters, and yet there's so much there as a foundation to play around with! Olive is a great example of that! I love that you wrote about Nikomina and Graydon! I checked out the Nikomina one but still need to go through your Chrogray stories; I'm sure they're just as good a read :)

I really love it when people enjoy the minor or one-off characters. Nikomina really should get to know that Kazuma lived... that'd be a world of guilt off her shoulders, poor girl. It was an accident... I stick to my headcanon that Sholmes told her at some point.

I do agree that the second game kind of was a whirlwind. I imagined a lot of stuff was happening off-screen that we didn't see, especially with regards to the lingering grief concerning Kazuma. I do kind of wish we'd gotten a little less mystery over Yuujin and a little more just getting to be around the man and getting to know him. His story was just really impactful to me. I adore him so much.

I also have some mixed feelings regarding leaving Kazuma somewhat alone in London without his friends at the end of the game... while I don't really see how else it could've ended (it's more realistic; they can't stay in London forever; Kazuma was the one actually supposed to be on exchange), I can't help but feel concerned over him having very little support after a major breakdown/situation that exposed nearly all of his trauma, and still pretty much on that single-minded drive, just in a different, slightly healthier direction (so he can find himself/challenge Naruhodou). I'll be honest, it's now been awhile since I've played the game and I played it late at night so I don't actually recall the ending in detail - it's possible there's something I forgot about here that changes the context a little. I mean, at least we know Sholmes and Iris are going to look out for him...

Also I am a firm believer in post-canon Kazuma and Van Zieks worsties. They can't forgive each other, they begrudgingly understand each other, they can trust the other with pursuing justice, they are petty little shits to each other...

I also like the idea of Sholmes looking out for Kazuma in his own annoying way, and just coming across as... annoying, lol, while Iris keeps finding reasons to "mysteriously" cross paths with Van Zieks, so he cannot shake this weird, genius little pink child. The doors to the prosecutor's office open and the both of them just go "oh no", and then glare at each other because how dare they have the same thought at the same time ahjsbfvsjdfh

Anyways. They're funny to me. Part of me is happy where the story leaves off, and part of me wants a Kazuma Asougi Investigations game, with Van Zieks, Gina, Sholmes, and Iris. (...I actually came up with a rough outline for that very concept... it's a bit self-indulgent though and I have enough projects started... maybe I'll get to it someday... it's actually more like parallel Kazuma-Susato investigations lol)

Alright, so. I heard about them earlier this year when The Summoning came out. I had seen their name pop-up a few times before (when they toured with Issues back in 2019) but knew absolutely nothing about them and payed no mind (still beating myself up for it).

There is this one account on Instagram (also TT but I don't use/have) that kept popping up on my discover page. I never interacted with his content, nor had any interest, but every few weeks his reels would show up and he often used the Sexy Funky Part™ on them. The comments were always crazy over it, but again, I payed no attention.

Until the 3rd of June (I have the date on my journal). That day I woke up with that section on my head, and I finally decided to look it up. And oh. My. God. I heard it once, twice, three times. Then I listened to TMBTE (the song). Then Chokehold. CHOKEHOLD. Listened to The Summoning again. Decided that, okay, I need to listen to this album, who are these guys?? Listened once, twice. Looked them up. Oh, they're anonymous? Oh, there's lore?? Oh, there's masks??? Oh, oh, oh-

And so it began. About a week later I posted here, saying that I needed someone to talk to me about them, not really expecting to see any replies - I was mostly venting since I had no one else irl to talk about them. To my surprise, so, so many wonder people actually reached out to me. It was so heart warming. For the first time in a very long time, I felt genuinely part of a community. Not just as a spectator, but as someone actively in it. Everybody was (and still are!) so welcoming and friendly, it's great.

Now, for context. I have been in the metal/emo/alt scene since I was around 11/12. It's always been my main music, and the reason why I'm still alive and standing today. About 7 years ago, when I moved away for uni, I coincidently started to get super into kpop, which then led me to embrace many other genres, like r&b and hip-hop (my 14yo self would call me a normie if she knew I was obsessed with Tyler the Creator).

For several reasons, I stepped back a little on the heavier side of music. I had a really bad depressive episode in 2018, and I was scared I'd go back to old habits. I needed to break my usual "listens to sad music to cope" cycle, because during that particular time, I was in very real danger of hurting myself again. Things got better, and I still listened to my old stuff, but with a much broader range added. I shifted my focus, and what was once an overwhelming presence in my life, became just one more thing. I changed and silenced many parts of myself. Some for the better, some because they were necessary to survive.

Fast forward to late 2021. I moved back home after graduation, as I needed some time to heal. My mental health had been wrecked beyond recognition during the pandemic, and as an art student, I was experiencing extreme burn-out. In a way, I still am. I went to painting and being in a studio everyday, to completely stop creating. Even just simple sketches were a huge task for me. I stopped writing my poetry, my stories. In the last year, I may have picked up a paintbrush twice.

I was glad to be back, but started to feel so left behind, as if time had moved a much slower pace to me than to everyone else. Somehow, three of my closest friends got married within months of each other. Others were finishing degrees, getting Big Jobs, moving in with partners. Me? I was back to living with my parents. I was taking driving lessons - something most of them had been doing for years. I had left 5 years ago, with plans and hopes and expectations, and came back absolutely broken, nothing but a shell of a person that no longer existed.

I was lost. I spent so much time not knowing what to do, or where to go. I had plans post-grad, but everything seemed impossible to achieve. I had 0 motivation, 0 energy. Somehow, somewhere along the way, I had forgotten about who I was.

But when I got into Sleep Token, something inside me clicked. It was as if their music took all the scattered fragments of me and glued them back together. For the first time in a very, very long time, I was so excited for something. The music was so unlike anything I had ever heard. Every cell of my being glowed and vibrated with each new song, each element. The lore was so interesting to study, the people here were wonderful to interact with. The words, his voice, everything - it was like I had woken up from a very long, hazy dream.

Thanks to them, I began writing again. Lore and lyric analysis, fanfiction, my own personal things, you name it. I have just picked up painting and I'm so happy to be creating again. Thanks to them, I've connected and met so many wonderful people here. It may sound silly, but I'm genuinely having so much fun these days in here.

Also thanks to them, I've re-kindled my love for my older music/bands, and I feel like myself again. I can't say I'm 100% okay, as I'm very much not, but I at least have the strength to face and accept that things are not okay, instead of bottling it up. I spent so long trying to adapt and survive the next thing, and the next thing, and the next thing, that I ended up abandoning who I was.

I don't know if this will make much sense or not but, yeah. Listening to Sleep Token has allowed me to connect with parts of me I thought were gone, while still allowing me to confront and make piece with my struggles. I think Euclid is a very fitting description of all the changes ST has brought in me. It's accepting reality for what it is, and knowing that, even though there are still things that linger, there is more to life. To myself. There is more than wallowing in grief or staying stagnant - and I am deserving and capable of that.

Like Vessel once said, "We are here to remember. We are here to forget. We are here to worship". Above all, I think Sleep Token's music is defined by connection, by shared experiences. Be it through the music, the lyrics, the band/Vessel, something about it allows us to connect with ourselves and with each other. And I think that's what I was missing - the ability to make a meaningful connection to something/myself.
