oh so color is home decor is just literally dead. it's not a matter of fashion you just straight up cannot purchase an item above 20% saturation

when we moved into our current apartment, the current residents left two loveseats & a recliner, which was convenient because they're p good quality & it saved us having to buy living room furniture right away, but also they're all beige and the carpet is beige and the walls are white and our ikea bookshelves are white and the blinds are white and this week my brain has chosen to flail and thrash in protest at the lack of color in our living room, but guess what, brain!! we just got a puppy & keep spending money on her, so we don't get to redecorate the entire living room right now! you'll just have to live with it!!!!!
#also colin's taste in interior design is much more staid than mine#he wouldn't want the walls painted emerald even if now was an opportune time to paint them :(#an eggplant purple velvet couch? forget it#colin thinks a colorful throw pillow dominates the whole room#colin thinks that navy blue is garishly bright#colin agrees that the beige is bad but what if everything was a nice light grey?#colin says he doesn't like scandinavian minimalism but winces at medium-toned wood#colin says he doesn't hate saturated color but then gives sage green as an example#colin has texture aversions and I respect that but he doesn't even like looking at satin#colin says he likes mid century modern but what he means is ikea showroom#I'm just making fun of him now to shame him into letting me paint the living room crimson

do you ever not dream for extended amounts of time then the one time you do dream it’s really fucking vivid
#bc i barely dream but i just had the most fucking vivid dream of my life dude#so i was in this old woman i don’t knows house and it was modernly decorated she had carpet beige walls etc#she also had white and pink tulle hang drying from her ceiling like halfway down on the whole second floor#i couldn’t get to her top floor either i was literally restricted to the first and second floor#anyways so i go really slowly to her room since i couldn’t move fast and her room is normal it has a bed; typical grandmother stuff#i go to leave and i notice she has this closet where it’s like a reading nook?#it’s insanely dark inside the closet; you could tell it was shallow but no light was getting in at all. in front of the entrance there was#a curtain of green plush bats hung upside down instead of a door; in the style of those baby plushes. in front of them also was a sign that#read “your child is reading upside down!” at taht point i could make out small details and a lot of things like a wood chair were hung upsi#upside down.#she was also communicating with me through tumblr but not directly to me; vaguely about me with her two teenage daughters#it was odd and really vivid and the second dream i’ve had like that except last time there was no pink and white tulle drying everywhere#sodaramblestoomuch#if you read all that thank you i feel sorry for you

ripped up the gross 25 y/o carpet in my bedroom at my parents house over the weekend bc I just wanted it gone but this has become A Project

Jade had a tier 1 tiny home, later a tier 2 and then a tier 3. Now we are officially upgrading to a full house and instead of just expanding the original one or picking one already made, im decided to build one myself and IM IN LOVE
#its a very beige eco house#but something about that white and cream house with green accents just speaks to me#its full of windows cuz i love windows#the kitchen was a problem cuz i made the bedrooms doors in the way#and didnt want to change it#but them i made a thing with half walls that i loved so much#is a compact kitchen#very cozy#im still building so it doesn't have any clutter yet#just the younger baby has a full room cuz i spent so much time in that nursery that i just keep it as it is#some things will be replaced bc jade still has some more fabrication to do#but we have table chairs beds lamps bookshelfs#alien talks
