I’ve been getting into shape recently vague building up to the idea joining a pole dancing class. Does anyone have any advice on how fit I’d actually need to be to get started?

*MINI-TUTORIAL IN CAPTION* The is one of the classic #BeginnerPoleSpins known as Martini 🍸 or Fire Lady 🔥💃🏽
Once you feel safe and comfortable lifting your feet off the floor, it's a great one to start building that upper body strength 💪🏽 You might not get many revolutions, or you may sink immediately, but that's okay! It takes time to build up that strength and make things look effortless. Just enjoy the journey and have fun with it 🩷
MINI-TUTORIAL
1) Reach high with the inside arm, bringing the outside arm across your chest.
2) Turn your chest towards the pole, hooking your outside leg in front of the pole.
3) Pick up your inside leg bringing it to the pole so the pole is sandwiched between your legs.
4) Pull down with your top arm, push into the pole with your bottom arm, and lean into the hip of the bent leg.
5) The momentum will come from how high and how fast you swing that outside leg around before you hook it.
TIP! You can build up momentum by walking into the spin like I'm doing 😘

AHH SORRY COULDN'T RESIST ASKING FOR MORE!! I just love this whole idea of a casino setting frfr
What if MC wanted to try what OCs do? Following OCs around like a puppy lmao🧎
Amias: they pester him trying to get him to teach them the da way of winning (and pool game. Pool games are hot, you can get quite handsy with someone while teaching lmao)
Edge: they follow him and clumsily try to shuffle the cards and do tricks. Ain't it adorable? Look, Edge, it's a new focus!!
DD: MC wearing clothes to match him and begging to get their hands on DD's scythe to try to scare away problematic players like a bouncer (they don't. The one scaring folks is behind MC l can sense it 😭)
Jackpot: dancing. Pole. Pole dancing 😳 shy MC wanna try it, but oh my would you look at that, such snuggly fitted outfit may reveal too much (and everyone can see it? Scandalous!)
Gambit: MC follows them with a masterfully crafted pout, trying to copy them and their stoic posture. Someone giving trouble to Gambit? MC is here to save the day! (apparently, the poor naivety doesn't realise Gambit can scare everyone in this room by only a stare)
- stargazer who is set on knowing the lore!! 😭
Well well well, stargazer. Ask and ye shall receive!
Yandere!OCs x GN Reader
Teaching MC to be like them!
Amias
You're right. Pool games are hot. Amias is definitely enjoying his chest pressed against your back as he leans over you to teach you how to hold the pool cue. You seem thrilled when you so much as hit a ball. It's cute.
You wanna learn to gamble like a pro? Sure, just sit on his lap and he'll teach you the ways of the cards. He'll tell you all the values of every hand, he'll teach you to spot a liar, and he'll teach you how to get past Edge's tricky dealing.
Edge
Did you know you only have to shuffle a 52 card deck seven times in order for it to be as shuffled as it can be? Well you will. Edge will literally lecture you on cards and dealing and drunk customers. Hell, Gambit will practically hire you after he's done.
He's happy to teach you all he knows, especially if it means you're giving him your undivided attention. EXTRA especially if it means he can punish you when you get something wrong. Nothing too bad, dear. It's a beginners mistake. You still need to learn somehow, though.
Double Down
'Oh my god couples outfits' is probably his first thought. God, you look so cute. He's not even sure where you got clothes that match his, but he's living for it. As for his scythe... Sure, use it. He doesn't care if you wreak havoc on those around you, it just means you're a quick learner. Even the adorable you is more threatening with a giant human-sized weapon.
He still thinks you're cute though. Of course you can't stomach his job, that's why he has to do it. It's okay though, you can pretend like you're scaring off drunkards with your silly scowl and he'll threaten to throw them into the fountain if they try to tell you you're not scary.
Jackpot
No. Never. Not in a thousand years. You're too divine to be seen in that outfit, please change. He's a hypocrite in this situation, but does he care? Absolutely not. He'll steal Gambit's jacket to cover you up and sneak you off to probably go cry.
He'll sob into your confused, barely covered arms in the back room, whining all the while about how unfair it is. You're for his eyes only! Don't you even care? Why are you laughing?!
Gambit
Gambit doesn't understand why you want to be like him. He'll teach you how to handle finances if you want, but he doesn't think you'll like it. It is enjoyable to watch you glare at disrespectful customers like you're his own personal bodyguard, and it's nice to have you hang around, too.
If anyone gives you trouble, though, they're banned for life. You're the new co-owner, and he will not tolerate any disrespect toward you. Besides, you'll have to get used to it anyways when you eventually become his sweet little spouse.

David x (fem) reader on a Disney cruise (Disney dream) ily
a/n: uh side note... I've never been on a cruise so I'm gonna go off of every commercial and youtube video I've seen. sorry if it's inaccurate lol.
(david kawena x reader)
summary: cruise antics with a side of sunburn
Masterlist
---
"Can I back out?" You asked, inching away from the decreasing line of people. Coming into contact with skin, you looked up to meet David's gaze. However, he was focused on the view below you. Following his eyes, you saw all the bodies splashing in the pool. Looking back at you he smiled lightly.
"It's not so bad. I swear. Scout's honor," he stated, bringing up a hand to place it on his heart. With a rather unamused look you tilted your head at him. "Really, it's not that fast," he insisted.
"I'm not worried about that. What if I like, rip my swimsuit while we’re in there and everyone will-" You glanced around to make sure no one was paying attention to you, leaning closer to David you whispered to him, "What if my ba hoobs fall out."
Instantly a snort left David's lips as he went to try and hide his laughter behind his arm.
"Why did you pronounce it like that?" He giggled rather childishly. You furrowed your brows at him.
"Do you see how many kids are around? What if I flash them, David? I will never forgive myself."
Calming down from his fit, the boy placed a hand on your back, reassuringly.
"I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. It's not like anything can tear it away. You're gonna be on the tube the whole time. The tubes not gonna hurt you."
Biting your lip you hesitantly took another step forward.
"If you're wrong you so owe me. For giving me false hope." David chuckled again.
"It'll be fine," he stated, placing the tube down onto the starting pad
--
"I've never even played golf let alone the mini version of it," You informed taking a golf club from David as he handed it to you.
"Really? I swear we did on a date once," David said, snagging a ball and maneuvering around running children to hole 1.
"Maybe we did. I don't know but I can already tell this is not my forte." You mumbled watching as David placed the tee into the ground and stepped back to line his shot and do practice swing. Looking back at you he smiled with a shrug.
"Hey, don't knock it till you try it." Looking back at the course, he leaned over and went for the hit. Smoothly the ball rolled across the mats before entering a windmill that was slowly moving and exiting back out onto the grass. Watching, it stopped just before flag.
"You are so going to win," you stated. "How am I even supposed to get it through the fan thing?"
"You'll do great. Just go for it," David insisted, walking backwards, his pole on his shoulder.
Looking rather helpless you fixed yourself into a stance that you guessed resembled David's and attempted a swing. The ball took off faster than his but still made it's way up the ramp and through the windmill, effortlessly falling on to the hole.
Jaw dropping you looked over at David who was cheering.
"See I told you. Look at that you're a natural." Laughing you waved your hand, jogging to catch up to him.
"Beginners luck."
--
“Ow ow ow ow- be gentle,” David whined as you smoothed aloe over his shoulders. Whispering a quiet ‘Sorry,’ you eased up on your actions.
The boy sat on the edge of the hotel rooms bed facing the TV as you kneeled behind him.
“I don’t get it. I’m in the sun literally all the time. Why am I getting burnt now?” He asked eyes fixed on the screen which was playing the The Little Mermaid.
“You didn’t drink a lot of water today. That’s probably a factor,” you hummed, capping the container. David sighed, carefully turning to fall onto his stomach, head plopping onto the sheets causing his bangs to fall in front of his eyes.
Laughing lightly at his miserable state, you joined him, resting onto you side. With your head in one hand you tucked the misplaces strands of hair behind his ear with the other.
“Thanks,” he mumbled. Responding with a small smile you continued to card through his hair with your fingers. Eyes falling shut the atmosphere became quite despite the tune of ‘Kiss The Girl’ playing in the background.
“You still want to go to our reservation?” You questioned softly as the song ended. Letting out another huff of breath David picked his head up, neck craning to look at you.
“If you want to,” he responded. Furrowing your brows you scanned across the boys features, taking in his tired eyes from the busy day, before sitting up and reaching for the remote.
“I think Finding Nemo’s next. We can watch that and order room service instead. We have all of this week still to check the restaurants out,” you offered. Placing his chin in his palm, elbow sinking into the mattress David looked over his shoulder back at the TV.
“I do like a good Merlin and Dory moment,” he mumbled.
“Sounds like a plan then,” you agreed crawling over to place a quick kiss to David’s cheek. The corner of his mouth quirked up as he turned back to you. Pushing himself up slightly, he cupped the side of your face and pulled you back to him. A small smiled edged its way onto you lips before they connected to his.
His presence disappeared as soon as it came but you followed him as he pulled back. Putting his cheeks in your palms you brought him back close to you. As you did so David shifted forward, making you fall onto the pillows. Giggling softly you placed your hands onto his shoulder to draw him closer just as you fell into another kiss.
However the sudden lurch from the man above you made you do so otherwise.
“Woah- watch the skin man. Making me feel like I’m being stung by a jellyfish,” he hissed. You winced at his reaction.
“Sorry,” you said placing your hold onto the sides of his neck to slowly pull him back in.

I'm usually horrible at these things because I never know what to ask, so thank you for the nifty list. XD My question because I love seeing your pole videos -> What made you decide to get into pole fitness?
that is why I made the list, bc I'm also horrible at coming up with questions 😂
anyway. for anyone who is unaware, I post a weekly pole video on Instagram after my pole fitness class. like honestly I do that more predictably than I post about my books lmao.
[I'll add a link to my latest reel when I'm back on desktop, since on mobile the phone's menu blocks the link button when I highlight the text.]
okay so how I got into it:
I had a work friend who does aerial silks (among other things), who invited me to the showcase at the studio she teaches at. something I loved about their showcase was the body diversity, especially in the pole, burlesque, and chair routines. like!! you've got all these plus-sized women looking sexy and confident as hell, and I was like, I want to feel that way.
so after the second showcase I went to, I stopped by my friend's office like "I'm thinking of trying a pole class," and she INSTANTLY grabbed her phone, texted the beginner pole instructor, signed me up for a drop-in class, and said "no more thinking, now you just have to try it :)"
which btw was very effective, like I'm convinced I would've tried it eventually but it probably would've taken another six months of careful consideration bc that's how I generally am.
instead, I went, and I've gone every week since. it's been like 10 months now, and I've also tried a Lyra (aerial hoop) workshop and a pole choreography class, plus helped out with pole demos at Pride, plus go to a free monthly Latin dance night my instructor hosts downtown with a friend from the local ballroom company.
it's the most in tune I've ever been with my own body (ever a work in progress, but we're getting there), plus the best I've ever felt about my body.
on that note, have a thirst trap that a different platform marked as "suggestive content," which is the first time that's ever happened to me lmao
I said my thirties would be my hot girl era, and so they are 😤

Grace’s Coffee Stand
Grace Thomas is full of big ideas, and she’s always coming up with new and exciting ways to grow her business skills. This weekend, she’s taking a shot at opening a coffee stand serving guests at Fable Mountain Ski Resort. Winter isn’t over yet--and there’s still lots of snow up here!
Grace has brought along as much as she can fit onto the countertop of her custom-made recycled-wood kiosk. She’s got hot cocoa, whipped cream, hot coffee, warm cookies, candy canes, and cinnamon sticks! She sets up her stand right outside the gift shop and close to the trailheads, so that guests can either warm up before they head out, or can refuel after they’ve had their fun for the day.
Let’s see who’s stopping by today......
Rose is at Fable Mountain today with her toboggan. The resort has some of the best sledding hills around, and she has the time of her life running up the hill and then zooming back down.
Even with all the running, Rose’s hands and toes have become very cold. She’s glad to warm up with a cup of hot cocoa topped with marshmallows.
Over on the steeper slopes, Fernanda is learning to snowboard!
It’s not easy the first few times she tries, and she falls down a lot. While she rests her tired knees, she needs a nice, hot drink to melt the snow inside her boots and her mittens...
Grace offers her a cup of fresh-brewed coffee, in a mug!
Paper cups are available for customers who don’t want to stick around while they drink, but Fernanda needs something to warm her hands while she drinks.
Ellen is at Fable Mountain today to go cross-country skiing. This is a great activity for beginners--if you can walk, you can cross-country ski! You don’t need lessons, unlike the more challenging downhill skiing. Ellen got into the swing of it really quickly. She glides across the flat terrain, propelling herself forward with her poles as she moves her legs.
It’s strenuous exercise, but it appears that Ellen is still cold!
She gets her hot cocoa in a mug, too, with a big dollop of whipped cream and a candy cane!
Willa and her little sister Evelyn have already been sledding with their parents and older sisters, but they got bored and scampered off to build a snowman while the rest of their family continued sledding. But that becomes far less exciting when they see Grace handing out cups to customers.
They run over to see what’s good. They don’t have any money, but Grace lets them each take a cookie anyway, because they’re so cute and plucky.
These are chocolate cookies sprinkled with a bit of “snow”, actually powdered sugar.
The snacks give them just enough energy for the best activity of all--snowball fights!!!

GRIM! I saw on your pole you ply dnd, i recently got accepted to join a party, do you have any general tips? Mostly for making a character, esoecially as a begginer
I have the starter set btw
SO! Bad news! This is actually my very first character and party lol! I've been very lucky to have a great party of experienced players and a great dm! They've all been very patient with me! Take everything I say with a grain of salt! First and most importantly! Make sure you're with a party and a dm who respects you! DND is a collaboration but your character is still your character and your autonomy matters! There's nuance to this! But make sure you feel respected! A good example of this and why I feel lucky is 1. when I first built my character I knew I really wanted to be a little kitty of some sort and I knew that some DMs didn't really like to go past the baseline ethnicities of whatever edition or set or whatever they are playing! Mine was all like: "Hell yeah! Do you want to be a tabaxi or an awakened cat?" and its like! That's so cool of him! But also if he didn't, because remember I am a very beginner player so it would be a lot on the dm to help me keep my shit together and be playing an ethnicity who may need extra attention for stats and stuff I could get my little sulk in but I would probably like pick a tiefling or something lol! The other one was 2. he is very very strict that nothing can happen to your character while you are not there to witness it. Your character cannot die in a session you are not in. I've heard a lot of horror stories, its a mutual respect thing! just look for green flags and watch out for red ones! Secondly! LITERALLY just pick what calls to you and worry about the logistics later. It may be that you don't know enough to know what calls to you like I did, in that case maybe find a trusted friend who has experience in dnd to help guide you along to what would be a good fun fit or do some research beforehand! And don't be afraid to ask questions of your party members and dm! If you play video games you're already off to a better start than I am! Dnd is a lot like a video game, especially a video game in multiplayer mode. Don't worry too much about like characterization or anything up front, pick some basics and the rest will come to you! Its not like writing a story where you have to know everything up front! The story is already written for you lol, its out of your hands, your character will flesh themselves out as time goes on! Also if you've got literally any equipment you're already doing better than me! (Also love the Frankie!)

Well, it still needs knobs, but this module is up and running!
For anyone coming in late, this is PM Foundations' 3320-VCF. It's a 4-pole, 24dB voltage-controlled low pass filter based around the AS3320, a clone of the classic CEM3320 filter chip used in such classic synths as the Sequential Pro-One and Prophet 5, the Oberheim OB-Xa, the Elka Synthex, and the Fairlight CMI.
(I always feel compelled to present a description of the function of these modules that's accessible to the beginner, and I probably fail. But to oversimplify, all audio is made up of/can be decomposed into a mix of pure sine waves; a filter's job is to let some of those pass and block others. A low-pass filter only lets through the ones whose frequency is below a given "cutoff point". And I say "only", but we live in a fallen world, so we have to describe how well a given filter does this; 4-pole and 24dB means that there are four "basic" low-pass filters in a row, and that those filters combined drop the level of the waves above the cutoff point by 24 decibels. The overall effect is to block high pitches entirely and to make the tone of lower pitched notes darker. An audio LPF usually has control — manual or electronic — over both that cutoff frequency and the resonance; as resonance increases, there's an emphasis put back in of the part of the signal right at the cutoff point.)
At any rate, this was a pretty straightforward build. There's largely room for all the components, the board is clearly labeled, and the build instructions are nice and clear. Once I got the last parts in today, I was able to finish the assembly relatively quickly. The only slowdown was due to the design; because the board is mounted to the panel edge-on, there's a bit of back and forth where you tack the jacks and pots on by one pin, then fit the panel on so you can adjust their angles, then take the panel back off so you can reach the pins with the soldering iron, and repeat this a few times.
Function is likewise straightforward. A signal goes into the input. The F knob adjusts the cutoff frequency, the level knob adjusts the input volume, and the Q knob adjusts the resonance; turn up the resonance enough and drive the thing into proper self-oscillation, for a nice round sine tone. (I suspect it won't track a volt/octave signal so it works as an additional tunable oscillator, but I haven't checked yet, and it will certainly function as a drone.) Controlling the frequency with voltage uses one of the two inputs for that; the second is attenuated by the corresponding pot. Likewise, the Q can be controlled via its attenuated input.
At any rate it works! I now have a much more functional filter module than the old vactrol-controlled passive filter that I built several years ago. I'm very happy with it so far, though I'm going to keep working on that Wasp filter.
(The local electronics store didn't have knobs narrow enough, so I'm going to wait and order a proper set soon. I have considered 3d printing them, but holding printed knobs onto a round shaft is tricky, and it'll look cleaner with professional knobs. I'm thinking of Davies 1900H-style knobs, in three colors: black for the frequency pots, cream or white for the resonance ones, and a dark red/oxblood for the level. While I'm at it, I might redo the knobs on my VCO and Sigmas to match. Hmm.)
