#before the storm theory
I'm sure half of the fandom will be in flames at the reveal or subtle nod to who the chapter 2 killer actually is this episode.
But don't expect me NOT to celebrate when we find out for sure it's not Eden.

hey so you know how devin kelley said she and oliver have a scene as kim and buck this season??
...yeah i DEFINITELY think we're going to get an uno reverse of the crashed date from 7x05, where buck and tommy are going to be out and about and run into eddie and kim, which leads to some...Awkward Conversations 👀👀
(bonus points if we see eddie ask buck to babysit chris cause he's going on a date with marisol, only for buck to say no caues he has his own plans, and then they run into eddie with kim. the DRAMA)
((double bonus points if we get an 📢📢 EDDIE 📢📢 thats even louder than the buck heard round the world))
y'all this is gonna be MESSY and i cannot WAIT

Before the Storm not only confirmed my belief that the storm was Rachel's revenge, but also sparked the flame in my belief that both Rachel and Chloe have powers. Rachel having some kind of power over the elements and Chloe having some sort of reoccurring prophetic dreams.
During the dinner scene in episode 2, Chloe and James get into an argument about him meeting and kissing the mysterious woman the day prior. During the big confrontation where everyone but Rachel is standing up arguing with each other, the camera zooms in on Rachel, framing her dissociating face alongside the candles in the centre of the table. The voices of the three other characters are drowned out and muffled while we see the flames on the candles lengthen as the ringing in her ear gets louder. I believe that this is giving us extra insight into how Rachel jumpstarted the forest fire in the previous episode.
Chloe's second dream sequence shows her Rachel engulfed in flames. I believe this could be a reference to Icarus. Rachel got involved with many dangerous people; Frank, Nathan, and Jefferson. Even in BtS she faced off against Damon Marrick and almost died because of it. She eventually flys too close to Nathan and Jefferson and gets burned.
There are other things that I feel I could say but with the release of double exposure coming out I don't think my theory of Max's death being foretold by one of Chloe's dreams would be appreciated lol

So uh. With Faulkner's followers either dead or abandoning him, leaving him alone in the Grand Aquifer, I'm reminded of a problem Elgin bought up to Paige in Chapter 35:
ELGIN:
We’re in a difficult position. We all know that.
Hiding out here at the Grace was the right thing to do - for a time. It’s kept us safe from the law.
But it’s not sustainable. This isn’t a place for the living.
And the Lingers are going to keep shelling up and down the length of the coast.
They might not be aiming for us, but we’re still exposed out here.
PAIGE speaks up.
PAIGE:
We’ve been excavating, Elgin. You know that. We’ve made good progress.
If we can get underground, we’ll be protected.
ELGIN:
(Scornfully)
Yes, we’ve been excavating. Digging into poisoned soil, breathing in haunted air
Do you really think we can go on like this, Widow?
That shuts up PAIGE - who of course does not believe that they can go on like this.
ELGIN:
(Taking a breath)
North is the sea-channel, west is the polluted lands.
So the proposal is that we send the scouts back south. Through the hills, sticking close to the border.
See if we can find a place of refuge.
PAIGE:
(Growing frustrated)
But there’s nowhere, Elgin.
We already tried this.
Nowhere that’s safe, and hidden, and undiscovered, and big enough for sixty people or more.
Every inch of this country is claimed by people or it’s been broken by gods.
ELGIN:
(Protesting)
We know that, Widow.
We don’t want to find an undiscovered place.
The proposal is that we find a hidden sanctuary close to the water’s edge. Somewhere that’s still active, still lived-in.
Some sects of the Trawler-man are out this way, we know, but there are gods of stone and earth lurking in the hills. Entire false-faith communities in the deep caves.
Once we find somewhere suitable - we empty it out, then we occupy it.
The implication back then was wiping out an illegal community, which later we find out the attempts to do so don't succeed and backfire on them but it's still a very real problem for them that they can't keep living in the polluted lands. Faulkner *could* give them the Grand Aquifer. I mean the Grace, the first home of the Woundtree's people was Bellwethers after it had been wiped out by Faulkner summoning a tide, so it would feel fitting.
Something something Paige creating and growing her movement in a place Faulkner has destroyed. Creation follows destruction, life after death. Can life grow from poisoned soil, can you break free of what you've become and the weight you've accumulated, does life owe you the chance to be someone better, will Faulkner give instead of take. What's the opposite of a sacrifice.

so the 'Qimir/the Stranger is actually [ insert high republic character here ]' theories have started to escalate, Imri was one thing, today I saw someone suggest the Stranger is Cohmac and I laughed out loud.
But also sure. The Stranger is Cohmac. XD Why tf not. Except for all the, you know, 'humans don't live that long' and 'their descriptions and official character art do not match Manny Jacinto at all' 'it doesn't actually make sense' but people keep countering that with 'energy transfer' so I guess Qimir really could be anybody.
Wouldn't it be fucking hilarious if it was Azlin Rell. Fucking Azlin. That would be SO funny if he energy-transferred himself into Qimir to live another hundred extra years, to continue being the worst. It would be so funny. Absolutely no one else would find it funny but I would personally find it absolutely hilarious if 'scenic route guy' is Qimir
#this is a very serious theory obviously#no jk but also qimir is azlin he's just taking the ultimate scenic route to whatever goal he has#star wars#the acolyte#the high republic#path of deceit#this fucking guy#(spoilers for phase 2 stop reading)#for non-book readers: i call him scenic route guy because basically the plot of the flashback happens#but long horrible story short ends poorly for the Jedi instead of the cult#*horrible as in for the characters the book itself is a banger#and he is tasked with investigating their disappearances - finds the bodies....and then takes three full more books to tell anybody about i#so you're just reading like 'wtf where is this guy why has no one accused the path of fucking murder yet'#anyway justice for kevmo and zallah sorry it took five business months to report your murders#fucking azlin#and he was freaking out my boy reath at the end of defy the storm!#i'm clearly not serious but also this would be funny and is the only 'X high republic character is Qimir' theory i will accept#evidence has already used the dark side to extend his life clearly wants freedom (kind of a loner) uhh thats it#(ok and i know that part of it is the whole theme of a lack of communication in that early part of thr#still it takes a bananas amount of time when he seems to find their bodies fairly quickly after they go missing)#he regains his mind and figures out energy transfer and ??? idk decides to head off the cult this time#before they can unleash horrifying monsters to drive him mad?#no this obviously is just silly but so is 'the stranger is cohmac' i don't even like cohmac but WHAT are you talking about XD deceased

Heyyyy! How are you? Just wanted to say that I totally agree with you! Chuuya is way too badass to be transformed into a vampire against his will, and if Asagiri forgot how strong his character is that will be the biggest disappointment in my whole life, and will make me really sad, because Chuuya deserves better, he is better. Also, i got curious, what is this "storm" Verlaine is waiting for Chuuya to bring?
Hi there! I'm doing rather well and hope the same goes for you.
The "storm" isn't exactly specified in Stormbringer. However, it is implied that something major will happen in the future/current timeline.
So basically; In stormbringer, specifically after Verlaine was forced into corruption and defeated by Chuuya. The news of Paul Verlaine being dead were spread everywhere, rendering him dead to everyone except the Port Mafia.
Verlaine decided to stay in the PM basement and train new assassins for the mafia as he was one of, if not the best, assassin out there. However, other than training new recruits, he has done nothing but wait.
When anyone asked what exactly is he waiting for, his answer would always be "The storm". Now, what is the storm?
Judging by the title of the light novel alone; the storm is either Chuuya himself or something brought by Chuuya. Hence the name "Storm-bringer".
It is very unlikely for the storm to be corruption as we know it. Since it was used more than once by Chuuya, yet Verlaine never showed up.
Which leads me to believe; Chuuya will have an important role in the future/current timeline. He'll cause something major to happen, something worthy of being called a storm by Verlaine.
So it's probably safe to say that Chuuya won't die (that's assuming that he'll ever die) untill he fullfils his role. (Aka bringing a storm)

So due to my AmberPrice hyperfixation acting up again & the lack of new content I clicked open the EARLIEST AP fanfic on AO3 --- She was My Angel
It was posted on Feb 2015. That's right, Before the Storm wasn't even written & decided yet. The original Life is Strange wasn't even fully released yet!!
So how well did they write Amberprice?
My comment went like this. And they replied after 9 years!!
Tumblr media
Hella amazing. Her Rachel is so much better than a some of the Rachels even after BTS had came out. I'd say it's even a good AU Rachel on par with the BTS game Rach.
I also read another early 2015 AP, was pretty good until drunk Chloe shot Rachel and killed her ☠️ based on a fan theory.
This would've been a Hella plot twist in the original... Amberprice could've been forever changed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“人生若只如初见” -- "If only life was like that first meeting"
“一千个人眼中有一千个哈姆雷特” -- "There're a thousand Hamlets in a thousands' eyes"
I have a semi translated Chinese AP ficlet somewhere and one day hopefully I'll finish that. AP really inspires me to create but I'm just too occupied at the moment to take more steps.
One day.

out of all the annoyances of Nutdealer misgenderings, applying he/him to Chara and Kris is wild? Not only are both names, like feminine, but also they have both only been identified as they/them very clearly.
Both Dreemurr humans were around the societies that used they/them for them for years. If Frisk’s pronouns were any/any, then that might make sense, who knows. But the bizarre pattern of making the Dreemurr humans boys while having Frisk be female is really weird! Again, “Kris” and “Chara” are both girl names irl, while Frisk straight up isn’t a name.
The only fanwork I’ve encountered that decided that “yeah Frisk should be a guy and Chara should be a girl” (neither of which are canon (actually Frisk might be a he/they, who knows)!) was a Deltarune character swap AU thing where it turned out that they were Kris’s parents but Frisk murdered Chara and so the Dreemurs adopted Kris. They still made Kris a guy, though.
Anyways this just lead me to think that the infamous Deltarune fanfic Umriss should have bent Kris’ gender femwards rather than malewards, especially since the author didn’t even have the decency to let Kriselle spawn horrific abominations. They kept Noelle attracted to Susie, and I feel like she seems like a Predatory Lesbian™️ instead of some cringy doe who maybe wants a threesome or to be a swinger or something, but is too much of a loser to actually ask and so is either waiting on her crush or her wife to discuss it.
(Anyways, if Kris≠Chara then probably humans in the Nutdealer multiverse are hermaphrodites or something (we know that ghosts are dxab (designated nonbinary(X-gender at birth) based on Mad Mew Mew being referred to as they/them when they were Mad Dummy). If they are then it’d just be weird coincidence, or maybe split reincarnation or Chara somehow managing to convince the underground that all humans are nonbinary because they got a 20 on the associated persuasion check). This could also play into the theory that Ralsei exists as Kris’ ideal self, including gender, if humans are nonbinary by default. This has the bonus of upsetting everyone)

having hishari thoughts. inchresting that 1) the lyth-priest's -- possibly ashton’s dad’s -- helmet, (once again could be a coincidence, but i keep thinking about "lith" being derived from "lithos," which means stone), is designed so that the leather "curls up like a living flame" 2) this passage:
[Thordak's] presence not only incinerated his enemies — it wounded the land itself. After the Cinder King’s defeat, the Tal’Dorei Council beseeched the Fire Ashari to travel from the distant lands of Issylra to Emon and lend their wisdom. The frightful Scar of the Cinder King and Thordak’s Crater, both twisted by the red dragon’s cancerous, fiery magic, were healed by the druids of the Fire Ashari over the course of about fifteen years, an act that the brightest minds of the Arcana Pansophical thought would take an epoch to achieve… Nevertheless, the Fire Ashari left behind a group of four druids, led by a female half-orc named Lorkathar. They dwell in a small stone fortress known as Flamereach Outpost — a defensive fortification used when the scar was still spawning beings of flame and hatred. They vehemently warn all who enter to avoid using elemental magic of any sort — especially fire magic — as these evocations could cause the still tender division between the Material Plane and the Elemental Plane of Fire to resonate and tear.
3) so far, the only artifacts we have from hishari are pieces of ceremonial, leather armor that appeared slightly worn, but cleaned. leather doesn't really burn.
#basil.ramblings#idk ashton definitely saw all of the elements but it's just the question of. where that actually happened#either they entered the gateway as part of the ritual or they fled to the gateway which both leads into them popping out in hellcatch#bc thin barriers / calamity also wounded the valley / leylines#but i'm still wondering if the town itself burned bc the elemental ritual they attempted kinda re-opened that wound; plus this happened#two decades ago / presumably before the fire ashari even finished doing what they could.#also the descriptions of the destruction caused by the town (in either plane) kinda matches imogen’s storms (esp in this most recent dream)#i really really wouldn't be surprised if there were other survivors & they went on to join or lead the rogue faction in issylra#can you imagine if ashton's parents lived. the DRAMA#there’s also the ultimate tinfoil theory which is that the cult disbanded & left the town to the elementals or burned it themselves after#the ritual backfired / ppl presumably didn’t come back from the elemental plane#also there is a resting molten titan in tal'dorei and like primordial seeds & shit which doesn't pertain to issylra but i'm still eyes#also it's interesting that we so far only have the ashari perspective on the town. i am curious about how it's a cautionary tale not only#against trying to presumably control/mess with raw elemental chaos but the reference to 'traditional wisdom' from cities such as vasselheim#i am now very eyes about that meeting between the fire ashari & the tal’dorei council

so my brother just asked me how many millimetres are in a centimetres, and yesterday he asked me what 5½ inches is in centimetres, and i just want to know what about me made him think id know conversions.
yes, i have a lot of eclectic information in my brain, but its never useful stuff like conversions. theres a reason my friends labelled me the resident mormon expert, and not the one you go to for useful stuff.
