#before the snow melts

“Watch it not snow at all,” Steve says with a cackle.

“I don’t know they said 6-9 inches-“ Robin shakes her head when she sees the look on his face. “Quit it.”

“You just want another snow day.”

“Of course I do,” she scoffs.

“Oh, look,” Steve is looking up. They’re at a stoplight and there are indeed flurries slowly coming down.

Robin giggles, “You were saying?”

As they drive (slowly) towards the diner it starts coming down harder and harder until Steve pulls over.

“You don’t think we’ll be trapped here?” Robin says anxiously.

“We can just walk to-“

“Who is that?” Robin stops him.

Steve turns. He has to squint a little but there’s a figure coming out of the snow. They’re limping, and then as the person gets closer they stumble and fall into a dirty snowbank.

“Hello?” Robin calls out.

There’s no reply.

Steve slowly reaches into the car and grabs the hard ice scraper, just in case.

They approach together slowly.

The person isn’t wearing enough clothes at all, and they’re just a peach heap. Steve looks down and sees that there’s a trail of blood in the snow.

Robin gasps. “Hargrove?”

They dash over awkwardly through the snow drifts. He’s breathing lightly, wearing a now wet undershirt and jeans without shoes.

Old blood is dripping down his face from his nose which looks broken. There's bruising in a sickening ring around his neck and purpling bruises under both eyes. Steve reaches down without thinking about it and brushes his cheek gently. Billy flinches hard, eyes opening.

Ignoring his weak protests, they manage between the two of them to get him up and out of the dirty snow and up onto Steve's shoulder so they can begin hobbling back towards the car at a snail's pace. The wind and falling snow cuts at Steve's face but he ignores that too.

"Robin, drive," Steve tosses her the keys and she squacks, fumbling as the keys almost slip out of her grip.

"He found out, baby," Billy whispers weakly into Steve's ear.

"We'll figure it out at home, Billy, just hang on."

Billy's making slight wheezing noises as Steve helps him into the backseat, climbing in with him.

Robin hops in the front and pulls a very illegal U-turn, which luckily no one is on the road to witness.

"You're ok, baby," Steve pulls Billy close, forcing himself to believe it's true. "We're going home."

With all the attention K2 got this episode it made me think back on the reduced Simulacrum of Gorgug from Dawn of Justice. Obviously that was just a throwaway line and not taken fully seriously but I personally like to think that ‘Reduced Gorgug’ died from the pure intensity of the rock energy when they recorded Dawn of Justice. Either that or he died from the sheer strain of making a drum solo so insane they had the other Bad Kids on standby to reload parts as they shattered.
