i think something people forget about pink diamond is that she had compassion for life long before she went to earth

the pebbles assume steven is pink not because of his gem or aura but just because he says ‘hello’ and ‘thank you’ to them, a basic common courtesy that nobody else has given them in thousands of years

in steven’s pink visions, blue is yelling at pink about the little bugs she let loose on homeworld. when one of them is found in her cell, she is quick to check it’s okay before helping it out of the room. even before encountering humans she valued organic life.

even the garden, the setting of pink’s cruellest moment, is proof of her care for organic life. Unlike every other part of homeworld, the garden is teeming with plant-life, which was kept healthy enough that it continued to grow even after pink abandoned it. the only other homeworld structure that tends to organic life is the human zoo. who’s to say the garden wasn’t another attempt by the other diamonds to placate pink after she expressed concern for the life on one of their colonies? or maybe pink picked the plants herself from the many different colonies she visited and grew them there.

pink wasn’t perfect. she had a bad habit of acting on her emotions and impulses without considering the consequences of her actions, and she hurt a lot of people because of it. but she considered all life precious and worth protecting, it just wasn’t until she had a colony of her own that she fully understood that the expansion of homeworld was intrinsically linked to the destruction of life, and the moment she realised that is the moment she stood against it.

#steven universe #su pink diamond #this post is almost 5 years too late lol #like padparadscha by the time my thoughts have found their way from my brain to my mouth the moment is long gone #but a hot take is a hot take even if it’s been in a slow cooker #i just think people are sleeping on the pebbles and the scene with the little rainbow catipillar #there always seemed to be a sentiment that pink was an inherently cruel person and that she didn’t care about anything before earth?#and that her care for life was either superficial or out of left field #but something my brain keeps rotating round is that she was always like this she always cared for other life forms but never took them #seriously. she always cared about them but never really paid close attention to how they were. and it was something she learnt off of the #other diamonds who treated her exactly the same as she treated everybody else. they loved her but they didn’t understand her and they #never made an effort to change that. and they never thought about how their actions made her feel or whether she was responding to their #own outbursts and emotions. and she never considered how her actions would make other people feel.#she didn’t think how her screaming would hurt volleyball until it happened. she didn’t consider how all-encompassing her orders to spinel #and pearl and potentially garnet were. she didn’t think about how spinel would be hurt by being left behind and quite frankly i do think #she completely forgot spinel existed once she became preoccupied with saving earth which is horrible but also makes total sense for her #character who from creation was taught that other gems were worth less than her and that they existed only to serve her or her fellow #diamonds; and as somebody who was used to the concept of being left behind and abandoned whenever the people she cared about got bored #or annoyed with her. it hurts but it’s a part of life to her. what she didn’t consider js that her words are law and she left spinel with #no free-will. she left pearl physically unable to share important information and solve the problems she left behind.#and she doesn’t consider how her death will make others feel - she doesn’t think the diamonds will care that she dies but they do and they #murder all of her friends except for two. she thinks the crystal gems will be fine without her if she says goodbye to become steven but #they aren’t and a good portion of the show is about the gems grief and how it creates an unstable environment for steven to grow up in #consistently pink diamond was taught her feelings didn’t matter and was made to feel nobody cared about her if they weren’t compelled to #and that compiled with the privileged position she was formed into made her an insecure spoiled brat who had no comprehension that her #choices could hurt people around her #did she ever even consider that the diamonds were grieving her? or did she think it was just another action of violence to exert control?#i don’t think i’ll ever be over pink diamond #funnily enough steven has a similar problem e.g. sadie’s talent show and when connie was upset he gave himself up to homeworld #but that’s a discussion for when i’m not at tag limit lol

I'll never understand why out of all robins Tim is the one made into a victim the most in fandom. People really think that being rich is the worst thing that can happen to you?? "Oh no my parents didn't hug me enough" it's always the same bullshit. Dick saw his parents being murdered right in front of him, Damian was raised in an assassin cult, made into a killer, never actually had a normal childhood and Jason... *checks notes* right, Jason's mother died from drug overdose, he lived on the streets, got nothing to eat and no roof over his head, then he was tortured and killed by Joker, then his father figure beat him to a pulp and people still think Tim deserves pity the most??? Not to mention Dick and Damian are minority and poc, romani and arabian respectively. I just want to throw my phone out of the window when I'm reading a fic and batfam has to once again comfort this rich white privileged little shit bc his life was sooo horrible. Jesus christ.

Here's the thing bc I've asked about this multiple times before and the answer I keep getting back is "I can't relate to being raised by assassins or a drug addict mum but I can relate to Tim" which if true is totally valid Tim's parents loved him but they weren't the best parents which is a pretty common experience for a lot of people bc parenting is hard, but then some people will turn around in the same breath and villainise Tim's parents to a cartoonish extent making out like his parents were the worst people alive never loved him and didn't care about him in the slightest and like you said act like he had the absolute worst childhood with Cassandra Cain standing right there with her actual childhood of her mother abandoning her her father only seeing her as a weapon not even bothering to teach her how to speak and being forced to kill someone when she was 8 and after living on her own with no one to look after her but sure Tim's parents left him at a boarding school bc they had jobs to do so he's definitely the worst off poor Tim

#like. i fully knew this would happen #but the moment is just. so disheartening #'what if we lose the best of our generation' girl so i wasnt the best... cause you just sent me out with low expectations....#<- ngl this fits my character... but at what cost #the way i characterize lori (my vault dweller) is that shes jokey and shes fun and she doesnt take things too seriously #shes had sort of an 'adventuring spirit' and was mostly skilled with weapons and thats why she was sent out #and like. everything was silly to her in the wasteland until her companion (katya) died under the cathedral. then it became too real #and the master conversation traumatized her a bit cause like. here is the creature that caused suffering. and now its real and its so much #more horrible than she was taking it as #also the masters body horror freaked her OUT. cause supermutants etc seemed like just... altered humans. just enemies or just a person #but the master (even tho technically posthuman) was something else entirely #and it became so real and she got a huge reality check and she cant look at anything the same #if not for the master shed probably get back to the vault and keep going in and out. but after the cathedral? she just wanted to go home #safe underground with normal people. maybe nobody would understand her but at least she wouldn't be in that horrible world out there #maybe shed even go with ian and tycho and maybe even dogmeat. and they could be safe from freaks and zealots. but no #when she finally did want to go home - she got locked out. reminded that she was never the best of the generation #and when she finally became that and saved everyone - shes still wrong. not good enough -> too good and too much #shed be a bad influence. she was meant to do the job she was given and shut up and be thrown away when she fulfilled her duty #which ties into her never really doing a job - she doublecrosses gizmo and that maltese falcon guy and the adytum guy etc etc #even when she gets tandi back she goes back to murder everyone there (raiders) though she said she wouldn't #but before it was silly. she was being smart and having fun adventuring even if it got difficult sometimes #but the master was real. katyas death was real. ian almost died. everyone who ever agreed to help her either died or almost died (followers #and bos paladins #)#like shit. lori was NOT meant to be that deep........#also i have thoughts on aria (vault dweller i played before the save got corrupted and i had to abandon him) but there less formed #because when i had to stop playing him and make lori he was only at necropolis for the 1st time #oh my god.... this too ties into lori being always secondary #my poor girl.... i think she died young #young as in like. 30-40

#my previous doc diagnosed me with adhd and chronic depression and i used medication for those #the new one i went gave me antidepressants and moved on so I refused to take them #and she was a horrible experience overall #and it was before The Grief and sensory issues got this bad #and I developed this very obsession with cleanliness and routine #and also on top of everything I developed insomnia again #fuck man #i don’t think I like this little life #oh yeah i also developed this weird ticks and movements when my brain is being extra mean to help me snap out of it #and it became such a pavlovian response I can’t Snap Out Of It without making those movements anymore

i am experiencing emotions rn and idk what they are :)

#so i got laid off in march and i have not shut up about it since bc it was a horrible experience and i’m still upset about it #and quite literally the only place i wanted to work after that wasn’t hiring at the time but they said to check back in the summer #so i just started picking up extra shifts at my second job bc i’d rather wait on this place than apply to places i have no interest in #then end of april i get a call from this girl i met at my old job saying she got fired #we were super close last year and then our friendship got super weird and tense when she suddenly became my boss #and tbh i’m not at all surprised she got fired bc as much as i like her as a person she was not at all qualified to be running that business #but anyway we’ve been talking more lately than we have in the past couple months #and i was thinking our friendship could maybe go back to normal now that neither of us works there anymore #BUT now i’m feeling super weird like idk if i’m uncomfortable or annoyed or what i’m just feeling put off #bc the place i wanted to work finally started hiring a couple weeks ago and i applied and interviewed last week #and yesterday i got the job which i’m super excited about #and this friend just sent me a screenshot of her rejection letter for the exact same job at the same location #like am i crazy or is it justified to be weirded out by that??#why would you apply for the same exact job as me and not even tell me until after you get rejected #and i know she knows i applied bc i’ve been talking about it nonstop with all my friends #like i’m so confused #it’s not even about the fact that she could’ve potentially gotten chosen over me it’s just weird that she didn’t tell me she was applying #i’ve literally been talking about this job since before they were even hiring like as soon as i got laid off i said i wanted to work here #she didn’t get fired until almost 2 months after that so she wasn’t looking for a job until a couple weeks ago #so i can’t think of any scenario where it would make sense for her to just not mention this to me #idk someone please tell me if this is weird or not bc idk how to respond to her rn #lj.txt

I'm thinking about getting my ears re-pierced, so I'm doing some research on it and I found this really funny thing.

An article from a jewelry store (it's the first thing that pops up when I googled surgical steel alergy, which I am pretty sure I have) says, in the same sentence that nickel allergies (which are typically the cause of bad reactions to iron-based alloys) are very rare and then they say 10% of the population has some form of it. That's not very rare. That's 1 in 10 people. In medication side effects lists, 1 in 10 is considered common.

So, yeah, fucking stupid ass jewelry website trying to sell their stupid ass jewelry by misleading their readers/customers.

#irl stuff #jewelry #piercings #earrings #I say re-pierced because I got my ears pierced when I was like 4 #with a piercing gun and surgical steel earrings #which is actually pretty late for a girl to get her ears pierced here #most parents have their babies ears pierced before they're 1 #especially when in the early 2000s #millenial parents may have a bit more sense and respect for their literal infants bodily autonomy than gen x did #apparently people assumed I was a boy a lot because I had very short hair and no earrings #the phrase 'oh she's a girl? but she doesn't have earrings' was something mom heard more than once #so anyway at 4 the peer pressure and gender norms got to me and I got my ears pierced #queue 3 years of battling horrible eczema behind my ears because of an allergic reaction #and my parents not wanting the holes to close so I had to keep wearing earrings #I got golden ones after that which irritaded my skin much less #and then when I was in first grade I lost one earring and stopped wearing them all together #lo and behold the eczema stopped being an issue #I tried qearing earrings occassionally as a teenager #but I could never get more than a few days before the skin behind my ears became irritated again #by now I'm pretty sure the holes did close #but I'd like to give earrings another shot #I will need to do a lot more research and probably get allergy testing before I get there

The more I read Exlibrium, the more I hate the Bookwizard Circle...

#especially the Leska family. those bitches committed literal crimes against humanity.#Tamara was not kidding when she called her parents fascistic assholes #she and her sister Varvara are the only ones who were able to break the cycle #EVEN THOUGH Varvara was one of the human heads of the Circle (and she liked to experiment on sentient shadows)#she got better of course (mostly because of her little sister) but lets just say that she was as creepily cruel as her parents once #but speaking of the Circle itself...#just... how many lives they ruined?#they abused Angelina and Nightingale to the point they were so traumatized that they decided to set the events of Exlibrium in motion #which resulted in so many problems (basically the Circle created its own monster)#the Circle also did something very fucked up before that - with Kai and Kira.#NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT THE ORIGIN OF CIRCLE ITSELF IS JUST AS HORRIBLE.#the most recent fucked up thing the Circle did (Leska family specifically) was Sasha and Inga situation #Leskas experimented on them. they blamed them for not being what they wanted them to be.#Inga was considered a failure but a failure that could be potentially experimented and abused on again.#Sasha was 'an almost success' and for that they broke him to the point he wanted to kill himself.#this was the reason he did what he did in 'Salt in the wound' arc (which is the cause of so many deaths and present events)#HE BECAME THE SOCIAL PARIAH. EVERYONE HATED HIM SO MUCH.#except for Inga of course because unlike everyone else she knew exactly how much he was traumatized. because she was there to witness it.

Replaying the original Warcraft campaigns cause nostalgia and WOW IS ARTHUS WORSE THAN I REMEMBER

#i always knew he was a bad guy #but w o w is it worse than i remember it being #i completely forgot about the whole boat thing #like okay you could argue that while horrible and tragic he was right to destroy that one plagued city before they all became undead #like fucked up but you can see the reasoning there (and truth be told i think he was right to do that)#they were already dead and anyone who he didnt kill would just bolster enemy ranks #BUT THEN #man walks headlong into a trap (despite being warned by his best friend and some weird prophet guy)#which kind of works out cause some people were cornered and dying and he's able to save them via being there #but then his general is like hey your teacher talked to the king and they called off this whole mission time to go home and he BURNS DOWN #THEIR SHIPS AND THEN BLAMES THE MERCENARIES WHO HE HIRED TO DO IT (they're also trolls and ogres who he calls monsters which feels worse)#anyways i only vaguely remember other parts of the story but im 99% sure its arthus who fucks sylvanas up and she doesnt deserve that #also like going from thrall to arthus is wild thrall is just a guy trying to do best by his people. he listens to warnings he receives he #fights to keep his people free and alive. he helps out the trolls he finds. he has a giant wolf mount which means you can always trust him #he's just the best guy. and then arthus is over here in the cornee fucking shit up because he's messed up and stubborn about it #xndndnndjdjdjsjsjsnsns i have thoughts

In my last personal post I told a story in the tags about a friend I've made in the past several months who used to be friends with a bunch of casually racist cishet white guys and whatnot. I mentioned how she sent me a message the other night about how she really feels like she trusts me and can be herself around me and how good that feels. But that post was about casual racism more than friendship so here's a positive post about friendship. God I just love meeting people and hanging out with them and doing cool things and introducing each other to cool new places. I love emotionally bonding through the gradual reveal of different layers of the self. I love having my set of interests, while they also have their own, but there's a good amount of thematic overlap and exchange and lending each other books and recommending movies and talking about them and stuff. I love when you haven't even known someone long but you can just feel a strong common sympathy there and like you're going to be friends for a long time. Like sometimes it comes out of nowhere when you really don't expect it and aren't looking for it but you're just speaking to someone you just met and shortly into it you're like "!!!!" inside your head because it's like. Wow. I could talk to this person forever. We could just shoot the shit on whatever topic and it would be a good time. Love that all so much.

#the tags i wrote about this friend didn't really show we were close for any other reason than me not being racist to her like the guys #she's just letting go of. but while that's certainly a reason we became closer (me sympathizing w her & finding their behavior disgusting)#obviously that's not like. the sole basis of a lasting friendship. lol. like. there's plenty of white ppl who won't use her to excuse #themselves when they want to be racist for an edgy joke. im not special im just Not Horrible for that.#even if it is new to her i always remind her that there's better out there than them and im not SO exceptional for treating her w respect.#which we all need to be reminded of sometimes if we have a history of toxic friendships/relationships but still.#we're actually bonded much more by our interests and worldviews. like. she LOVES philosophy and is somewhat into poetry #i on the other hand LOVE poetry and am somewhat into philosophy.#we have really interesting conversations and recommendations to each other. i like exchanging thoughts abt what we're reading or watching #we also like to go to secondhand stores and buy old books. and knickknacks and whatnot.#that's been a fun way to bond #and she's taken me to some open mic poetry events in her neighborhood that are AMAZING #i never read my stuff onstage since i was like 15 before her. and ive seen her grow as a performer as she's started doing it.#it's such a cool evolution. i love her. i love spending time w her she's such a cool friend.#tales from diana

( becoming increasingly ill the more i think about it ) her no good very bad dynamic with megatron mostly and the toxic cycle it keeps repeating .. to me, her and megatron used to be a thing and it went south very, very quickly as the war really started in earnest. and even when they stopped being in a relationship, the dynamic continued to devolve and just progressively gets more and more abusive. and also the ending half of it can either continue to be from megatrons pov for me or it can be reflective how starscream also devolves and gets worse as a person due to this. it can sorta morph into one horrible soup about both of them and i think that sucks ass for her. and i think this song reflects the fucking awful dynamic and mentality happening with all that shit.
