I’m gonna ramble abt the diff beetlejuices rq.

I really like the differences between all the musical beetlejuices and i kinda wanna point out my thoughts on them. just some brain vomit.

(i haven’t seen much of koberjuice so i won’t speak abt him much.)

Alexjuice IS beetlejucie. He’s perfectly made for the role. He’s what i think abt when i think abt bjtm, yknow? No one really talks abt how his beetlejuice IS SCARY LOOKING. he’s the scariest of them all. Like all the others look like a dead guy. sure. but alexjuice is acc scary looking- he has the creepy faces nailed. he has creepy mannerisms and gestures. iykwim.

Justinjuice is my fav. I think he’s charming- but not in the same way as Alexjuice. He’s not as scary, but he pulls off angry beetlejuice really REALLY well. Justinjucie is like,,, more broody?? He broods. His voice is deeper and i think his acting is very satisfying to watch. Exaggerated but not overly flamboyant? if that makes sense.

Blumjuice is cuter. No one really talks about him. He focuses more on singing than the voice which is kinda refreshing. He’s cartoon like alex but not scary. His facial expressions are smooth and i really like how he jumps around. I feel the chemistry between him and the rest of the cast more. It feels like he’s full of more energy than the others. (not like the others have no energy but like blum is a very active beetlejuice. like.. he’s silly.)

Koberjuice, i know nearly nothing about. I kinda just like how the costume looks on him- he embodies demon grunkle. i love that. (again sorry. idk much about kober. i gotta find a show of his to watch.)

ANYWAYS. this is just a little ramble to myself. Ik that this is probably sooo grammatically incorrect. IM JUST SPILLING MY THOUGHTS. this prolly makes no sense to anyone reading it, sos!!!

I originally mentioned taking a break from digital art, but I really quickly wanted to make this sketch of Lawrence, Beetlejuice's human form! His design is primarily inspired by @outer-andromeda's and maddcelestial's design for their Lawrence AU!

One of the differences that I've made to my design is to make Lawrence Polynesian (more specifically, Hawaiian), rather than Latino-Caucasian. This is a reference to the original concept for the sequel - Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. I also wanted to create a distinction from my versions of Lydia and Emily, who are Mexican, and my version of Dewey Finn, whose design is based on Alex Brightman.

My Lawrence design is more intended to reflect the canonical events of the musical, rather than an alternate storyline. This means that I wanted Lawrence to be a bit more on the uncanny side... someone who hasn't wholly adjusted to being alive and human just yet.

I gave him a pinstriped sweater and a gray top (tank top?), but that could definitely change in the future! I just wanted to quickly sketch him out so I can settle on a design for Lawrence-

not too many solid horndog mad scientist outfit ideas but i think these are staples. for me personally. knee length black boots and elbow length black gloves. gotta have em. maybe this and lingerie under a lab coat and thats the whole outfit

I very much appreciate the suggestion and as much as lingerie under lab coat is Such an iconic look im absolutely going to have to save it, a big personality inspiration for this character is musical beetlejucie and I don't really think it fits him unfortunately-

Bra and pj pants under labcoat are my current idea unless I find something better lol

Beetlejuice, El Musical ~ North-American Tour

La mayoría de mis outfits en realidad se ven así: algo tan casual que pasarías a mi lado como si nada. Pero son los detalles los que más amo cuando hago mini-bounds en el día a día.

Beetlejucie es de mis películas favoritas y había escuchado que el musical no era una mala adaptación. Cuando anunciaron que el tour oficial iba a venir a México, no sabía que esperar.

Un mes antes la primera parada de un tour en México había tenido mala recepción: Mean Girls. La popularidad -buena o mala- de la nueva película (que está basada en el musical, que a su vez está basado en la película de 2004) había dado altas expectativas a la productora mexicana.

Dos días después de que empezó su temporada (sus cortas 2 semanas) los boletos tenían un 20% de descuento, dos días después 40% y para el inicio de la segunda semana estaban con 60%. No era una buena señal para nadie.

Esto hizo crecer mi escepticismo hacia la calidad de la adaptación en suelo mexicano (no del cast o el show) y los recursos proporcionados por parte de la productora. Días antes de que su parada en la ciudad terminara escuché de una amiga que un conocido había ido y, efectivamente, no le había gustado. El show no le gustó. Y todos sus acompañantes estaban de acuerdo en que el musical no tenía la misma esencia que la película original.

Ahí estaba, mi fe en ver el musical de Beetlejuice estaba de vuelta. Viendo el efecto que se había dado en la venta de boletos para Mean Girls, supuse que también habría grandes descuentos. Lo que no había contemplado era que este show si le gustó al público mexicano, además de que el estreno de la secuela con Keaton ya estaba teniendo campañas de publicidad en México.

Y esperaba, y esperaba. Y el gran descuento del 60% que quería no llegaba. El segundo lunes (de la temporada de dos semanas, o sea el último lunes) estaba en camino a la oficina cuando vi una publicación de la productora del mismo 30% que habían tenido desde la primera semana. Algo me dijo que el descuento ya no iba a mejorar y no me quería perder ver este musical. Envíe mensaje a las tres personas que sabía estaban interesadas en ir.

"No me quiero perder Beetlejuice, voy a comprar boletos para el jueves en la tarde. Los boletos están en 539, quieres ir?"

- Este jueves? Si! Me uno

- Va, si jalo

- Claro! En dónde es? A qué hora nos vemos?

Y así nos embarcamos a ver un show de Broadway en la Ciudad de México y salimos más que extasiadas. Puedes leer más del show y mi reseña en el post de Instagram. Claro que para la gran ocasión, tenía que ponerme un gran outfit.

Odd confession: I'm terrified of going back to school and facing bullying once again.

Like, I had an anxiety attack this morning thinking of how now I'm wearing glasses and someone could break them just to be mean?

I know they are college kids but you don't get it. I actually had a convo with my brother the other day explaining a lot of these 18-20 year olds are emotionally stunted since they didn't get to go through normal High School during Covid so now they are living their "High School phase" in college?

Like, for example, I went to see the Beetlejucie tour the other day right? And as per traiditon I bough myself some merch like I do every time I've seen it. I have ADHD and as y'all know Beetlejuice is my hyperfixiation and comfort media.

And then I realized I am gonna get relentlessly bullied for liking Beetlejuice so much? And having a shit ton of Beetlejuice shit. A backpack, shirts, hoodie, pants, plushies, pins and now thermo & socks too.

I remember this one autistic kid in my major getting relentlessly made fun of and excluded for "liking Hadestown too much" and he did his best to graduate early to get away from them bc he got sick of all the childish bullying. So idk why the same wouldn't happen with me.

On the one hand I want to ignore them and keep around my Beetlejuice stuff because it brings my little ND brain JOY!!!

And like, we are ALL THEATRE KIDS so idk why liking musical theatre this much makes me a creep in their eyes? Or having hyperfixiations I can't help bc I'm ND.

But also I don't want to go through hell again and get excluded and called a rapist r*etarded freak :/

Also since I'm latinx I have an accent which means I sound "funny" and some have bullied me by calling me iliterate and r*tarded :c

I also remember being made fun of on my birthday last year bc I was "too old" to be in college (hence a loser and creep) and a "self centered narcissist" for even daring to mention it was my birthday when the professor asked what was new with me (a couple of classmates did get pissed off on my behalf for the mockery but the majority of them joined in)... and my birthday is this semester so I am afraid of what kinda BS i'mma have to face that day.

I also fear I'm not gonna get invited to any Halloween parties once again, and am planning to dress as either Star Lord (I want his leather coat so bad lol), Fizzarolli or Blitzø on the day to at least celebrate in my own little way (also an excuse to cosplay)... so maybe I am not helping in keeping them from thiking of me as a pathetic freak?

i saw the lion king a couple of years back and it was really beautiful, i started crying the second the opening song started playing jshsh (music has the tendency to make me cry on its own already but even more so in movies or musicals, just like happy endings, friends and family can attest)
