I'm usedtobeguest123 (...because I ghosted around as guest123 on A03 before creating an account for myself 😁). You can call me Tooby.

I love writing and am dabbling with art (newbie). Feel free to shoot me Encanto writing or art prompts--family fluff is my jam. I have tiny little humans I care for and sometimes go on long hiatuses, but I'm still around. Sometimes I also post for Malevolent.

A probably maybe [not] updated masterlist of my stuff below the cut. My tag system is chaotic and unorganized, but you can try searching #my art and #my writing too.

Writing

Current fic: La Traes - This is the sequel to my first fic, Bruno from Before, but you could probably read it on its own. La Traes is the spanish name for the childhood game of tag, but it literally means "You carry it." This fic follows the (fluffy) relationship between Bruno, Mirabel, and Antonio, and is an experiment where I work through how trauma can rob us of childhood, and how we might possibly heal and get a little bit of it back.

Bruno from Before - My first fic! It takes place about 7 months after the movie. An exploration of Mirabel and Bruno's relationship post movie. Mirabel begins to learn more about Bruno from before the walls and is determined to help him find his way back.

Alma, After - I love Alma's character. This is a little dabble I wrote about her grief, and it ended up being a bit of a epilogue to Bruno from Before. Chronologically, it hits somewhere in the middle of La Traes.

Quiet - A collection of Encanto one-shots. They started out having the theme of "quiet," but it's really just a place for me to put my little snippets of writing :)

A Little Wasted Time - A one-shot where Mirabel and Camilo talk it out. It's a bit of a deleted scene from Bruno from Before.

How Are You Feeling, Hermano? - A one-shot I wrote after seeing this AMAZING art by @junosaccount. Bruno is sick and Julieta is there to do what she does best.

The Time You Give Me - Bruno - A super fun collab I did with the lovely @breannasfluff 💚 The pairing is a fun look into the mind of an introvert (Bruno) and an extrovert (Mirabel) who care about each other. This is the introvert side. Make sure to read Breanna's, too!

El Milagro de la Bebé - My fic for the @encantobigbang! Dolores is worried about her Mamá, and to help her she seeks out the most okayest man for the job - Tío Bruno. Pranks and family fluff ensue. Check out @lunaencantada's AMAZING art that goes with it!

Some Bruno hcs that live rent free in my head:

Has these little green reading glasses that he uses to read (obviously)

They have a chain attached to them that Mirabel made when she was like 3 or 4 (yknow like the little glasses chain that loops around so you can take the glasses off and have them hang around your neck)

Can hear his visions sometimes—like if it's a vision of someone talking to someone else he can hear the conversation (though it's very rare; when it does happen though, it takes a lot out of him)

Can feel most of his involuntary visions coming up to an hour before they happen

It starts as a fuzzy pressure behind his eyes like a tension headache and the intensity increases until it finally shows itself

His involuntary visions can also be very sudden; one second he's talking to his sisters or making coffee and the next his eyes go wide and start glowing as green images flash in his sight and when he comes back he's lightheaded and a bit confused but ultimately unfazed (albeit annoyed)

It scares the shit out of most, but Pepa and Julieta are pretty much used to it by now and they make sure he doesn't faint on the spot when he comes to

Speaking of—when they happen, Bruno can't see anything other than the vision; so from the outside, they can see his eyes glowing as he looks around frantically, but he's still aware of his surroundings so he can still hear and feel them outside of his vision, but it's somewhat difficult to respond when he's not doing a prophecy and it's just an inv. one

Is emotionally attached to his ruana and if he loses it he loses his shit and is very anxious and upset until he finds it again

Is probably aro/ace (I understand that some people are going a bit too far with the lgbt hcs, I just wanna say that is not what I am doing here; I know the movie is about family relationships, Colombia, generational trauma and finding self-worth!! I promise I'm not trying to take away from the main theme, it's just a lil idea in my head, that's all <'3)

Definitely a sneezes-in-threes guy (they used to be super loud but now he sneezes like a mouse (or a rat hahsgdakgjgd))

When Bruno is sick/very VERY tired, his powers get wack (as does the other Madrigal's)

Constant visions, left and right, about things that will either happen the second he stops seeing it or things that won't happen until like 100 years later; his eyes won't stop glowing even when he's not seeing the future; one sneeze causes either a plethora of sudden visions or fastforwards time by like a couple seconds, leaving everyone in the Encanto confused as to how they were just getting up to go get a snack to already looking in the pantry

Has visions in his sleep but usually can't remember them until they happen

If he manages to sleep at all that is

He's a very light sleeper, the smallest creak leaves him wide awake

Doesn't snore. Like at all. Unlike Pepa who sounds like a friggin freight train

Has very quiet footsteps, sneaks up on everyone unintentionally (one time Pepa was reading a book and she looked up and he was just standing there in the doorway staring at her and she was like "HOW TF DID I NOT HEAR YOU"

The last 3 above are all probably either just how he is or because of him hiding in the walls

Has surprisingly great hygiene

Cares a LOT about the rats and was overjoyed to be able to communicate with them when Antonio offered to translate

Bruno doesn't consider the rats his rats; "they just kinda adopted me, I guess" he told Mirabel and Camilo when they asked about it

Used to be mistaken for a little girl sometimes when he was a kid once his hair started growing out

This prompted Julieta and Pepa to dress him up like a sister all the time, and he honestly didn't mind it; his "sister name" was "brunilda"

Sometimes his visions give him nosebleeds or sore eyes (his sight gets kinda fuzzy for a few days but it's nothing terrible)

When he's not nervous or stressed, Bruno is a pretty laid-back chill kind of guy, might have been a little troublemaker in his early years

Is really good with kids; Hernando and Jorge used to be his imaginary friends but he brought them back for his sister's kids

Basically he's That One Uncle That Everyone Thinks Is On Drugs Or Has Done Drugs But He's Really Just Naturally Like That™

How I imagine the Encanto series to go (if there is one)

Production:

Same/similar art style to Tangled: the series

Will probably be confirmed in mid 2022

First season will come out in early 2023, consist of at least 10 episodes

Will probably have about four or five seasons (hopefully more)

Could also go like BH6TS, only having about two and a half seasons (which was very disappointing and d*sney could've done better)

Basic info:

Mirabel remains as the main protag (obvi)

There will be songs. So many songs.

The show will most likely be about how things are going post-canon; it will follow the Madrigals as they navigate their way through becoming a more stable/healthy family

Episode plot

There will most likely be the occasional flashback episode, probably about Alma and the triplets

But it will mainly be about current events

Some new characters may be introduced, a lot like TTS

Characters

Mirabel will be in all the episodes (because she's the main) (except for maybe the flashback eps idk)

Camilo will be present a lot of the time as well; a good bit of episodes will be centered around him too

Julieta will be seen more than Pepa or Bruno because she's the main protag's mom ofc, she'll get a few episodes

Agustín will appear less, most likely used as a comedic relief character; might get one or two episodes

Luisa and Isabela would get more screen time as well, being Mirabel's sisters; will get a handful of episodes

Bruno will appear at random times, definitely used as a comedic relief character (which is a shame); we'll be lucky if we even get one Bruno-centric ep in the entire show

Pepa will be somewhat the same with appearances, but will probably be more like Julieta with importance; might get two or three eps

Félix will definitely be a comedic relief character, rarely taken seriously, will probably only get one ep

Dolores will be more common like Luisa and Isabela, will get four to five eps

Antonio will either be barely present or be in almost every single episode there's no telling

Alma will be present for most eps (sadly) (or not) (I dunno I have mixed feelings about her)

Possible series plot ideas

The Encanto is discovered by some kind of army who plans on breaking in to take over or something

Something is happening to the magic again and it's not just up to Mirabel to fix it this time

They decide to venture outside of the Encanto; they meet new people and find new villages and make friends (but some of them aren't as they seem)

More tba when I think of something lmao

How I draw Bruno Madrigal: A tutorial!

Before you say it, yes, I know I draw him way too much. Maybe this’ll come in handy for someone here djhhfjgjg- (plus it’s an excuse to draw him for the millionth time today soooo)

Disclaimer: This post is NOT meant to bash ANYONE for how they draw. It’s just a tutorial on how I draw Bruno, everyone’s style is different!!

Step one: Face shape

I always make sure I have the right face shape down, or else it won’t really look like the character I’m tryna draw (in my eyes at least). Bruno’s face shape is somewhat almond/diamond shaped, just upside down. His cheekbones make little points at the sides 👀

Step two: Nose

I see a lot of people drawing Encanto characters with the wrong nose shape/size (don’t worry, I struggled with this for years lmao), so I tried to make it a bit more simple.

His nose is like an upside down kite shape, like his face except the points are a little lower/closer to the tip!

Step 3: Eyes

Bruno’s eyes are very round, and there isn’t a whole lot of space in between them; I see a lot of fan art with his eyes spaced pretty far apart, so try keeping them closer to the bridge of the nose (I also did this too at first, so don’t fret!!)

I come back to the circles under his eyes later 👁👁

Step 4: Mouth/teeth

Bruno has tooth gaps!! (Teeth gaps? Grammar no exist) the most noticeable one is right up front, but there’s also one round near the back jshsgdjhd

Step 5: Brows

Bruno’s eyebrows have that little crease at the top most of the time, unless his expression is relaxed. In case you can’t read my handwriting: they’re thicker at the beginning, curve up just a bit, and then they taper at the end.

Step 6: Hair

His hair is type 2c I believe (it might be 3a, there’s posts on here about that as well if I’m wrong!!) You can also either go on google or Pinterest to get reference pictures.

Bruno has these two distinct strands that hang into his eyes (I’ve colored them in to point them out) that I absolutely adore drawing! Fun fact: I have the exact same two strands (my hair is either 2b or 2c, I can’t quite remember hfhfhfhgh) that do the exact same thing!!

Step 7. Facial hair

Bruno’s beard (goatee?? It’s kinda both I think???) isn’t exactly a full beard, it’s basically just long stubble lmao

I have a bit of trouble with this for the sole reason that I’m just bad at facial hair hahahaa-

Step 8. Colors

The color palette in the second image is more accurate than the first! I color picked the skin tone to the best of my ability, along with the hair and other parts. For his eyes, I use the shade of purple on a multiply layer, along with the blush. His freckles are just the small light brown next to the white and green for his eyes (in the second image)

Bruno’s hair looks pretty brown right there as well, but thats only because of the highlights (I used a golden yellow, you’ll see in the next image) the colors I used for his hair are the two grays; the lighter one is used for the silver strands, and I always color the two front strands with it. For the rest, I just add random streaks into the darker shade.

With his ruana and undershirt, I kinda just eyeballed the colors (I color picked at first, but altered them just a bit afterwards)

Step 9: Shading/lighting (this is optional!)

This is the finished product! I tweaked the line art just a bit, fixed his nose since I forgot how physics work and forgot that the nose turns up with the smile oops hahaha

I changed the line color to a warm brown for a softer look, and I shaded his eyes with a darker/more saturated green on a multiply layer and then put neon yellow highlights at the bottom on an add layer. I used a dark maroon/brown on a multiply layer as well for the shading and a golden yellow-orange for the highlights on an add layer (I feel Ike I’ve typed “layer” so many times so I’mma just say this rq: I always put shading on multiply and highlights on add!!)

I also put a little shade for his lips since I forgot them too ahahaa,,,

ANYWAYS there you have it!! I’ll post some extras that could also be good examples soon (because sadly I’ve reached the image limit dammit)

Since closing the book on the case of your father, you’d begun to spend more time with your family. Still, you're the quietest Madrigal family member.

Reading with your tía Pepa, playing with Antonio, gossiping with Dolores, cooking with your tía Julieta, gardening with Isa, and racing against Luisa were just some of the activities that brought a smile to your face. You love your familia.

Eventually, you had to continue using your gift to help the community. However, you now approached it differently.

You were Encanto’s therapist. A heavy burden for a child to bear; but with your gift, you could dig to find the core moment that triggered one’s issues. You couldn’t fix everything to be clear. Tapping into their past allowed you some ease in helping them heal their present.

“Sra. Valdovinos, I understand that you’re worried about your son. It’s hard when a child loses a parent, especially when they're so young. However, do you think you might be focusing on them to distract yourself from the pain you yourself are feeling?”

Finally ten; They say with age comes wisdom. Not your case. Instead, wisdom came with reflection. In looking back on people's lives, you learned from their failures and achievements.

No longer were you Encanto’s darling. You were the community's saint, though you kindly requested they not call you that. (Y/N) was fine.

You brought together broken families, facilitated healing in home taken over by grief, you brought joy to the elderly allowing them reminisce about their younger days, you built up other's confidence pushing them to pursue their true dreams.

You, you’re a good kid.

Antonio’s gifting ceremony was tomorrow. You hoped for his sake he’d at the very least get a gift, though it would be nice if he received one he would actually enjoy.

You spent the morning with Antonio. Hiding with him from Abuela and the onslaught of well-wishers. You did your best to ease his nerves, describing to him the past gift ceremonies of his siblings and mama. All of those went well. You assured him his ceremony would go well too.

When the time came, you stood in the courtyard with the rest of the family. You anxiously watched as Antonio appeared at the front of the room. All eyes on him. You remembered how isolating it felt standing where he now stood for your ceremony.

You smile, seeing Mirabel appear at his side, letting him latch onto her arm. The crowd gasped at first, then you began to clap in approval. It wasn't long before the crowd followed you, their saint’s lead.

Antonio was granted the ability to talk to animals, which you knew was perfect for him.

Abuela was overjoyed. While you two had come to a mutual understanding since your outburst, you couldn’t help but feel a bit jealous. She openly celebrated Antonio’s gift. She still somewhat mistrusted yours.

Just as the party was in full swing, stress flared up in your head. The headache was the kind that throbbed, a billion bees buzzing in the brain, suddenly demanding to be let out. You whined, moving your hands to the sides of your temple.

In an instant, you were alone. The party and people around you disappear in a blur. As the world took shape around you, you found yourself in the nursery.

“Hola estrella durmiente.” You were startled by the soft voice behind you. There, on the windowsill, a young girl kneeled. One you knew all too well. “Tomorrow I turn five. Everyone’s saying I should be excited but… they’re worried, I can tell. I am too.” You remembered this moment. “I just, I want to be helpful.” A five-year-old, you admitted, staring up at the brightest star in the warm summer night sky.

From outside you heard tía Pepa calling your name. “Coming tía,” the small you responded. As soon as they disappeared, your headache returned. In an instant, you were back, surrounded by music and celebrating. No one appeared to have noticed your moment.

At that time, Mirabel came through the door in an obvious state of panic. “The house is in danger!”

You spent the night tossing and turning in your bed, picking at your cuticles. You traveled into your own past. You shouldn’t be able to do that. You do fall asleep, eventually.

By breakfast the next morning, your worries had subsided. You decided it was a one time thing. The headache must have been, so you lost focus and somehow fell in on yourself.

Besides, you had more important things to do today. You had people to check in on and your favourite client, Sra. Valdovinos, the town’s baker, had asked you to stop by. They always give you fresh polvorosas.

After breakfast, you went straight to the first house on your list. You spent your day helping others work through their issues and resolve problems created by their past. Few were one day fix-its. You promised those who continued to struggle you’d be there to help until they no longer needed you.

Finally, you arrived at Sra. Valdovinos. As per tradition, she gave you three polvorosas, fresh from the oven. Then shared her news; she was engaged to be remarried. While they would never forget their first husband, she and her son were both happy. Additionally, her new partner had two children of their own to add to the mix.

Around two in the afternoon, Mirabel found you at the center of town. She begged you for any information you had on your father and the meaning of his visions. She told you everything she’d heard thus far.

“You talked to Camilo, didn’t you?”

You tried to convince Mirabel not to dig into the past too much. You’d charted this path and there was nothing at the end.

“Mira, the past is a nice place to visit, but it’s not where we’re meant to stay,” you lectured. “I have some stuff in my room,” you conceded.

Mirabel had never been in your room. No one had. The day of your gift ceremony, everyone celebrated in the courtyard. It was the nature of the room itself that told you it was more for your eyes only. People needed your blessing to be allowed inside.

Your room is a labyrinth of book shelves, spanning as far as the eye can see. The library is walls upon walls of leather-bound volumes. Though some shine signaling their youth, most are ancient.

Your library is one of a kind; The Library of Remembrance. Each book living on your shelves catalogued an event from the past. Your room held the complete series of history. Most everything that had been could be found in a book somewhere in your vast library.

You lived in the center of the Encanto section. The small square formation of the section of shelves allowed you to create a cozy nook in which to rest and relax.

As you pulled the chests out from under your bed, a book flashed, appearing in a previously empty spot on a shelf beside Mirabel. It startled her, drawing your attention.

“What was that?” Mirabel called. You rush to her side and take the book that’d just appeared on the shelf.

“It’s back! They really are okay.” You beamed, it was the kind of smile you rarely used, so wide your cheeks dimpled.

“Back? What’s going on?” - M.

“Like treasure, sometimes people are lost, and with them, their history. But again, like treasure, people have the ability to find themselves again. Looks like Iria isn’t so lost anymore.” You explained, wiping your hand across the cover. In reaction to your touch, the name ‘Iria Valdovinos’ etched itself in gold on the front cover.

Mirabel noticed then that no bookshelf was complete. There were missing books, gaps in the shelves. It made her wonder. “(Y/N), does tío Bruno have a book?”

You crinkle your nose, in that way you do when you’re thinking about something hard. “Everyone has a story, Mirabel. Even Bruno. It’s just a matter if it’s lost or not.”

You gestured with your head over to the chests you’d pulled out. “Everything about my Pa is in there. Hope you find what you’re looking for.”

You left Mirabel alone in your room, trusting her not to disturb the library. Even if she did, the only book she’d be able to read is her own. Without you, all the other histories would appear blank.

You head down to the dining table to prepare the table cloth and help Julieta with the cooking. You make a mean cholado and brazo de reina.

You’ve always loved cooking with Julieta. She has such a calming aura and lets you lick the leftover dolce de leche from the alfajores off the spoon.

Isabela's boyfriend, Mariano, was coming over. Everything had to be perfect tonight.
