I lift weights because it's my antidepressant. I exercise because I love it, I love the results I'm seeing. I never knew that I would get this far!!! I was constantly bullied because I had broad shoulders and because I'm flat chested (I looked like a boy) so I took advantage of my genetics and manly looks and I made myself look better, stronger and bigger! Not giving a fuck of what people thought of me. I love myself, and I can't believe that I would get this far!! #Repost @negharfonooni with @repostapp ・・・ I was in a yoga class once, rolling up my mat after practice, and the girl next to me said, "Wow, you're so muscular! You don't have a yoga body." I'm sure she meant it as a compliment, but honestly ALL BODIES ARE YOGA BODIES. This idea that yoga is only for certain people who look and live a certain way is keeping so many folks from experiencing the magic of yoga. # I'll admit, when I first started practicing yoga I was intimidated. I wasn't "skinny." I wasn't bendy. I didn't wear mala beads and eat at vegan cafes. I didn't know all the Sanskrit terms. I was scared to try something so out of my comfort zone and feel as if I didn't belong. # Thankfully, after 16 years of practice, I can tell you that's all total bullshit. Yoga is for EVERYONE, just not in the exact same way. Some styles might not be your jam and that's totally fine. You don't have to practice for 90 minutes and you don't have to wear lululemon. The "stand on your hands and head and make wild shapes" aspect of it can be cool but it can also be inaccessible. # Yoga can be done in 5, 10, or 15 minutes. You can do it in your living room, on your patio, in your underwear (that's my favorite). There are no "standards" that you have to adhere to--the only requirement is that you show up on your mat willing to meet your body where it is. # In my 16 years of yoga exploration, I've learned so much about myself as a woman and an athlete, and I've created a practice that is uniquely MINE. Yoga makes me feel centered, grounded, and alive--and I almost never make it to those 90 minute yoga studio classes. I step on my mat with the intention to move and listen to gangster rap as I do so. # I have a yoga body and so do you--because yoga is for everyone. If you're not sure, give this super simple and effective flow a try. All you need is 5 minutes, and if you can commit to that time on a regular basis, I guarantee you'll find so much freedom and connection in your body that you didn't even know was available to you. #wildfireflow #wildfireyoga #bodylove #meatheadyogi #becausemuscles

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeah, it's #day1 of my habit cultivation #mindfullythenmindlessly challenge. Over the next 7 days, we're going behind the scenes to set ourselves up for keeping consistent with our workouts. . We know it's good for us. We know we feel better when we move. We know it improves our overall health and mood. Yet we keep getting stuck swinging hard between this cycle of "I am an Olympic athlete" to "omg I haven't worked out in like 14 years and taking the stairs felt like a freaking jazzersize class" . 💥So today's homework💥: write down 3 reasons *why* you want to cultivate this habit. This habit being regular movement/exercise in your daily life. Yes, actually write them down 📝. Think about how your life would be better if you had regular movement in your daily life. . Mine personally? 1️⃣Because my energy levels are significantly better compared to the days I don't move. As a girl about to make a pretty big life change, I need all the energy I can get to keep making moves on doing the shit I love. 2️⃣Because even if that meeting didn't go well, or that guy was a real jerk, or whatever didn't go quite as planned today, at least I can say I lifted some heavy shit, and that makes me feel accomplished af 💅🏼 3️⃣Because it helps me sleep better and sleep is bae 👵🏻 .
