honestly my main issue is my inability to see things beyond a first and second draft. i need someone to put my shit through the wringer.
#texts.#'i need to make some big changes to DHTM..... but what if i don't?' and then i just. don't. i start working on something new.#orz#i think it's because the unbinding went through 9 revisions and then went nowhere.#so now i'm just. meh. about the rewrite and revisions process.#god knows the wiles got done because my mentor had me jumping on zoom calls every two weeks to do full readthroughs#and the magic of theater usually means i can annotate and change things in real time as people are on stage.#which makes it so much more enjoyable than just sitting in a quiet lonely room and yelling at a computer screen to make prose work.#honestly my writerly issues would be ironed out if i had a designated beta reader i think.

Hi! I like Elhokar too. His death was sad and in another world if he'd had a few more minutes maybe he could have become the person he dreamed of being.
hi!! yeah the worst part is the lost potential... he might have still been ethically dubious, but he was trying, and yet he barely got started on his redemption arc.
the hints of him almost just barely becoming a radiant are just brand sand being mean to me personally

WELL i did watch a playthrough that had like detailed discussion and analysis of the whole thing throughout so its been a good like. 4-5 months??? on and off. its jokronos on youtube... i think if id done it myself id have missed a lot of the Mystery stuff cos im not used to engaging with stories on that level so having someone who IS used to trying to figure out the puzzles was very nice. also its a 2 person playthrough with one new and one rereader so thats also very nice

Hi Babs! I would LOVE to!
So I was going through my drafts a few weeks back and found this silly idea I had years ago for that scene in My Girl where Thomas Jay and Vada are practicing kissing on their arms that I wrote for another fandom. I really liked the idea but wanted it Tedmort, so I wrote it….
And somehow it went from two shy eleven year olds to 17 year olds spending their last summer together before senior year. This really jump started a lot of my headcanons and ideas for a full-blown high school au (which is kind of in the works, in a variety of ways!) in which Teddy and Mort grew up together and went to school with Bob and Linda. Had to fiddle with ages a little for that one but eh, I don’t really mind!
So this is just a little oneshot, where Teddy asks Mort with help with his budding relationship with Denise by giving him some very platonic, not at all weird kissing lessons. Where he gets the idea that Mort, the weird goth kid who’s never had a girlfriend in his life, who plans pretend funerals for fun, would have any sort of experience with this, nobody knows. But it kind of turns into a whole thing; Teddy sharing a bit about his home life and how he’d like to go into the Navy after school and Mort having a hard time articulating how much he’ll actually miss Teddy if he does. Plus, there’s a bit of a coming out scene (Mort) and it’s very sweet.
The thing is, this au sort of contradicts with a few of my previous headcanons for the characters and their lives but to tell an interesting story, I think it’s alright. It’s an AU after all. I could probably ramble on all day (and I have rambled on for…probably 17 minutes in a voice memo?) on my version of Teddy in this AU and his relationship to his parents, specifically his dad. It’s not necessarily how I think his childhood went in canon, but it’s been fun!
Here’s a teaser because I have no self-control with not sharing things I’m excited about writing:
Teddy didn’t know what else to say, so he cracked a joke, “So what I’m hearing is…I’ve kissed more girls than you.”
Mort rolled his eyes, reaching over to shove Teddy’s shoulder, “You kissed the Genarro sisters.”
“You kissed Gordon Bosco!” Teddy exclaimed and Mort wrapped his arms protectively around his knees, looking very small.
“So?” He mumbled, finally catching Teddy’s eyes. He held his gaze for a long time, before asking quietly, “Does that bother you?”
“No, of course not,” Teddy said honestly, shaking his head. “Why would it bother me?”
“Because…”
“Come on, Mort, you know me better than that. So what, you kissed Gordy. Was he any good?”
“I dunno, I guess.” Mort shrugged, looking a little uncomfortable. Teddy nodded, unsure what to say now. He wanted to ask when, how it happened…why. Had Mort started it or did Bosco? Was Mort…like that or was he just messing around.
He couldn’t help his curiosity, though he didn’t want to offend Mort. Touching a hand to Mort’s arm, he flashed Mort a small grin. “You kissed more boys than me.”
“What?” Mort said incredulously, leaning away from Teddy. “What is wrong with you?”
Teddy could tell he was holding back a grin and he chuckled, “It’s true! I’ve never kissed any boys. And you’ve kissed one…I mean, just one, right?”
“Uh…” Mort blushed and Teddy’s eyes went wide.
“You’re holding out on me, Mort! Guess I really did pick the right guy for kissing practice.”

i love my story. i genuinely do so, so much, but MAN am i tired of reading it over and over and over and over lmao

#now that I’ve begun reading through the Avengers properly for the sake of being thorough in my Iron Man readings#I’ll admit that I’ve actually been toying with the idea of quickly rereading through the Hulk’s Tales to Astonish run#because it’s been a little bit since I had read it all I don’t remember it as well#and because I was not posting panels so much while I read back when I was reading it#right now I’m my Hulk readthrough I’m right at the end of 1979 and about to begin 1980#and I think that it could be a helpful approach#to read through the 60s then 70s then when the 70s are done to reread the 60s quickly#then read through the 80s and when the 80s are done reread through the 70s quickly#and not reading every single appearance like I did in the first go#but just the main stuff#because I do see some people on here who are very specific character focused#but it’s been years since the read through all of the comics of that character and are going off of faulty memory#which isn’t great#I take this stuff maybe too seriously but oh well that’s just how I am#it’s not like there’s a deadline to read through all of the Hulk’s appearances too#also maybe I miss that Hulk era a little bit and want to revisit it#anyway note here in these panels how Rick is asked by the Avengers to look for the Hulk#but he doesn’t actually contact the Avengers when he finds him and only does so after he loses control of the Hulk#marvel#bruce banner#rick jones#my posts#comic panels

I normally really like Tynion comics but I truly hated DC Vs. Vampires past issue 6. And yet I am eagerly awaiting Volume 2
#I liked his run on Batman and Detective Comics (at least for that the parts that had Tim for my readthrough)#but good god DC Vs. #i wasn't taking notes per se in this readthrough but i was like. /making note/ of all the things that mo and fenoglio#said were in the in-book inkheart novel#and first of all what the fuck even went on in that book fr#how is capricorn the main character but we know all about these side characters he would absolutely have never have paid attention to#or all the places mentioned?? why would capricorn go to the castle of salt wtf#why does capricorn's book describe dustfinger and roxane meeting for the first time lmao#but second of all mo says the book mentions brianna only briefly and says her name once so unfortunately#i headcanon that's because either 1) when the fire raisers are trying to torture (?) info out of dustfinger in the scene mo reads them out#he begs them not to kill him for bri's and rosie's sakes#or 2) when he dies at the end his last thoughts are either apologies to them or grief at never seeing them again#all of which are Bad#the second would kinda work better bc fenoglio won't fking shut up about how dramatic and touching dustfinger's death scene is#and fenoglio doesn't like animals but he DOES have kids so i would imagine he'd write a better death involving children#than one simply being sad over a wild ferret yk#inkheart#says kenna

runaways starts with a pretty good instruction to its new set of characters in the already very crowded marvel world
the art is pretty and the writing flows introducing us to these characters that have the very specific type of relationship. they are a very dysfunctional family overall, a loving one
the ideas are very nice, the story goes smoothly and its interesting to follow these kids around in their adventures. the plot is great, but the characterization is the best part, as the kids are the most interesting part of the book
i love how the connections to the marvel universe are done, in a way that we see its set in the marvel universe but by the eyes of common people in it
all in all, 4 stars out of 5, would recommend, just didn't read the other books yet because i'm full of things to do and want to take my time to read it
