Before this chapter (278), I knew that he is the World's Best Striker, but after this chapter (278), I can see why he is the World's Best Striker. He is literally him. The curveball he just threw at me, hurled me outta this universe. And just like in Loki's case, I feel like a fool once again since I have misunderstood Noa's whole character.

Firstly:

You know how some things just stand out for no reasons at all? Like, it's a trivial thing, but it just keeps on silently scratching the back of your head—the above panel happened to be that exact thing for me. My dumb ahh was really thinking, "Tf they talking about?" when I first saw this panel.

Before this small exchange, Noa was taking about how there are two philosophies in BM—and it depicted Kaiser and Isagi in the opposite of eachother—and this is exactly when, according to me, the whole Kaiser Vs Isagi rivalry's roots got firmly cemented. Yes, I do understand this rivalry started when Kaiser grabbed Isagi by his chin, but hear me out, okay?

We were told that BM's basic principle is Logic and Rationality, and considering Noa's personality, one can assume that Blue Lock-ers in this team would've been coerced into following this motto too, but Noa didn't do remotely anything like that. In fact, in all the other NEL teams, the coaches low-key molded the Blue Lock-ers to their respective mottos whereas Noa remained hands-off throughout everything—one of the main reasons why the majority of the Fandom considered him the worst coach in NEL.

But, well, I used to use this (above) reason to defend him—that he isn't tampering with Blue Lockers' originalities by letting them do things on their own accords just like Ego used to do.

And if this philosophy won, then Kaiser (not in a literal sense) would be wiped off of the team! Further, it also seems like a small jab of, "You think you are the shit? I highly admired Noa for never stepping in the field until and unless the opposite team's coach had stepped in. It used to be my favourite argument for defending Noa's coaching ability. And just like my previous point, I can't look at this the same way anymore.

Of course, he isn't wrong—the coaches stepping in definitely throws off the balance in the field. But, well, if the power dynamics shift too abruptly and too much, it would tip off Kaiser and that'd ruin Noa's plan for the NEL—it would also tip off Isagi which would also ruin Noa's plan for the NEL.

So, in short and straightforward words, he always stepped in the field for the sake of himself and not for the sake of younger players in his team.

Thirdly:

This convo happened after Shidou's goal—PxG's first goal in their match with BM.

Right after these words left Loki's mouth, Noa went out to make changes in the positions of BM—he went out to suggest things and all just like an actual coach would do. And though this panel stood out to me in an odd way, I also remember finding it so damn hilarious for him, seemingly, being threatened by a mere 17 year old—I was actually going to make fun of him for this when this chapter (253) came out, but then I guess I chose to do otherwise.

I think it's because before this chapter (253) dropped, I was going to make a wholesome post about the possible relation between Noa and Loki since they are from the same national team—some kind of Father-Son relation. But then the I saw their convo and felt embarrassed, and probably decided to not talk about them till more of their story got revealed.

Now their convo makes a lot of sense in a different way.

And lastly:

I remember being caught so off guard by this. Like, till that point, Noa had never ever talked regarding Kaiser in such a way—it nearly felt as if he were rooting for him, and I found it so sweet that I even included it here.

But now that we have a bigger picture, it doesn't seem that much sweet to me anymore.

I can't understand how I dismissed his poker face in the (above) panel as simply his usual emotionless self when it clearly looks like he isn't surprised at all—like he knew what was unfolding in front of him beforehand, like he was expecting it and.. he was quite literally expecting it, didn't he?

See it was all fine, nothing to worry about!! Joel couldn't bring himself to kill Jimmy, he barely even harmed him. I'm pretty sure he shot him just once (after Jimmy trampled their crops so. fair)? The way they addressed Chloe not knowing the kwamis names gave her a Disapproving Mother vibe, so I went with them being a nurturer. I picture them wanting to watch over their holder, particularly children ones, and watch them grow into full grown Oxes.

Roarr - So this one was easy cuz they've been very consistent in the show, and since the kwamis default to loud and bratty when they're in Mob Mode (ie, when all the kwamis act in sync instead of in line with their personalities), Roarr was simply a too rambunctious child. An extrovert to the extreme. Their name is very appropriate.

Fluff - This one is pretty established in canon, so I guess I'll just extend my headcanon. Fluff is easily confused and babbles a lot, and I think it's because they're being constantly bombarded with information from so many timelines. Existence is a prison and Fluff just comes across as dumb because all their brain power is overheating from a massive influx of information, so they have nothing else to offer in the Present.

Longg - "Ikari Gozen" makes them out to be a Long Winded Old Man/Woman (depending on the dub lol), but aside from them being pretty polite later, they don't hold on to it. I am. Longg is old as shit and just wants these damn kids to hear out their long ass stories, but they just don't know how to edit because it's been forever since they've been out of the box (a nod to how Dragons are now "mythical"). Sass - Okay, c'mon, we all know Sass. Sass is the only one we know definitively. They're the leader and being level headed and calm is the thing that distinguishes him from the rest. He is mildly cursed like Fluff to recall every remade time line, remembering what happened the other times that needed a second chance, but it's less of a burden than it is for Fluff.

Kaalki - I opted to lean in to her being a Diva, obviously thanks to her attitude in "Startrain". You'd think that'd clash with Max, so the struggle was more about making them work together despite that, so I also gave her a fascination with innovation. She's not very technologically literate, but she's interested in what humans have been able to do, especially when it comes to exploration. But in the end, she's still pretty vain lol.

Ziggy - since they were very upset at how mean Chloe was in "Miracle Queen" as opposed to angry like Stompp and Roarr, I felt Ziggy was probably younger and a bit sensitive. I also leaned into some goat traits, having them eat paper and headbutt Nathaniel.

Xuppu - Xuppu can easily become very annoying, especially in "Destruction" where they're trying to be helpful, but uhhhh...they aren't. So I just stuck with how they were portrayed in their canon debut episode. Like Roarr, Xuppu is very much like A Child, so even in Mob Mode they feel in character - getting into stuff and making a mess.

Orikko - I made them very patient, which you gotta be when your powers are bullshit and you constantly have to give a tutorial on how they work. They could talk all day with their holder trying to find loopholes.

Barkk - So they have two standout moments where they're allowed individuality - in "Furious Fu" and "Risk". In the former, they are stubbornly staying behind to guard the house and the Miracle Box, and in the latter, they're super excited at getting a new holder and getting to "play". So both a guard dog and a puppy. I met in the middle where they DO really want to play, but also want everyone to be as excited as them which takes a little coaxing. Like an Extrovery adopting Introverts.

Daizzi - They're just very sweet. Almost just like Rose but soft spoken. They feel very much but like to focus on the things they like, no matter how simple they are.

Leon says that he had a code of honor that he kept to, and the game outright says that he used to be a good guy

none of that

literally NONE OF IT

even hints that Krauser was an abuser. in fact, it paints a total opposite picture.

Krauser is a dark omen of what Leon could become under the right conditions, because he was also someone who believed wholeheartedly in the institutions that were supposed to support him, in the rule of authority and law, and in the chain of command -- all things that Leon believed in in RE2.

and just like Leon in RE2, he had all of that ripped out from under him in the harshest way possible.

but unlike Leon, Krauser didn't have a Sherry Birkin to protect. he was left completely and utterly alone. abandoned. and born from that trauma was a desperation to never have that happen to him again, which is why he goes out seeking power to protect himself with.

if Leon had had everything stripped away from him the way that Krauser had, who's to say that he wouldn't have become a villain himself? he certainly had justification for it, after all that'd happened to him.

and the game harps on this a few different times. Krauser says to Leon that they're two sides of the same coin. he also has a line: "I know your every move. you learned them from me." the implication here is that Leon is still walking down that path. he's not out of those woods yet. if he doesn't save Ashley... then what?

so go back and rewind now.

rewind to Leon being fresh out of RE2 and all of the horrible shit that happened to him and being placed under command of this man who's at least ten years his senior but still believes in all of the things that betrayed Leon in Raccoon City. that was probably a pretty powerful revelation for him, and -- knowing what we know about Leon -- it was something that he would've wanted to emulate. Krauser was a strong man who took no bullshit from anyone, but he still had things that he believed in. that's exactly the kind of person that Leon would want to be.

and like. Krauser couldn't have trained Leon with the efficacy that he did if Leon didn't trust him completely. like yeah, Leon ran missions with his unit, but their trainings were one-on-one affairs. if Leon didn't trust him, he wouldn't have been able to learn shit from him. and since Leon went into this relationship not being able to trust himself, even, after RE2, to be able to trust someone else to that extent is a Big Fucking Deal, actually.

Leon doesn't want to fight Krauser in RE4make. and he certainly doesn't want to kill him. even after Krauser kills Luis, Leon's still trying to talk it out with him. because he loves this man. By the time I'm posting this, it will be January 26th, commonly known as Australia Day where I'm from. A country known for its sweeping plains, unique fauna and the PM fucking off during a nationwide crisis.

I think, despite all Australia's long-standing issues, there are some things about it worth celebrating the culture. Specifically, the music!

Here are some of (what I think) to be some of the most quintessential Australian albums to listen to:

Midnight Oil - Diesel and Dust (1987): Quite possibly the most Aussie album from quite possibly the most Aussie band. The biggest song off of this album, Beds are Burning, is about Aboriginal Australians being forcibly removed from their land, and the lead singer Peter Garrett is really outspoken about justice towards Australia's native peoples, even being in Parliament at one point. Listen if you want to hear what Rage Against the Machine would be like if they were a new wave band and regularly consumed Oak chocolate milk.

INXS - Kick (1987): If the UK had new wave, Australia had pub rock. Artists defined by their songs being so infectious you can remember while you're smashed on seven bottles of Tooheys Extra Dry (kidding. it's called pub rock because that's where they'd play their sets. in pubs). INXS is quite possibly the pub rock band, the genuine article, and this album is a nice gateway into their music; Punchy, upbeat, and memorable riffs for days. (Songs like Need You Tonight and New Sensation for a good idea). Listen if you like Duran Duran or The Cars.

Kylie Minogue - Fever (2001): GOD, how do I introduce Kylie. This country's shining grace. The superstar in our backyard. Our very own Princess of Pop. This album just extrudes that gleam and optimism that'd you find in a lot of Y2K dance-pop music, and I absolutely love it. Listen if you like Discovery-era Daft Punk or Grace Jones.

The Avalanches - Since I Left You (2000): My personal favourite off this list. It might not be the most "Aussie", but I think it makes up for it in its ethereal tone and sampling techniques. One song might just be made up of just one sample, while another might be made up of 50, (Frontier Psychiatrist was originally made up of 28 samples), but it's all tied together by this collective lofi sound. Listen if you like DJ Shadow, Portishead, or The Chemical Brothers.

Regurgitator - Unit (1997): There was this period in the 90's where Australian alt-rock went fucking berzerk, and Regurgitator was one of those bands. Everyday Formula opens with "Everyday I shit into the sea" and ! (Song Formerly Known As) is about not going out to parties and staying at home. Listen if you'd like Gary Numan mixed with the subject matter of early Weezer.

Spiderbait - Grand Slam (1999): Spiderbait was another one of the alt-rock outlets that got really popular despite being really vocal about the hypocrisy of the industry at large. This album contains a wide variety of influences, like 60's bubblegum on Glockenpop (song about the needless commodification of music. their most popular song and highest-earning single of that year. lol), pop punk on Dinner Time and hard rock on Shazam! A pretty good all-rounder made brilliant by vocalist Kram. Listen if you like Green Day or No Doubt.

Empire of the Sun - Walking on a Dream (2008): I put this one on because the cover is really funny, but then I listened to the album and I got a sense of bittersweet nostalgia listening to it. A mix of disco, dance-rock and funk (We Are The People is a good example) make for something that made me wish I was 7 again. Listen if you like Prince or Let's Dance-era Bowie.

TISM - Machiavelli and the Four Seasons (1995): TISM (short for This Is Serious Mum) are a fucking disgrace to this country. They are such a bunch of yobbo cunts that I can't believe they managed to get anywhere past 90 on the charts. Wankers like them deserve to be dragged out on stage and beat to a pulp viciously, to the ravenous delight of the crowd. Don't listen to this album and don't listen to Greg! The Stop Sign!! Listen if you're a masochist, maybe.

AC/DC - Let There Be Rock (1977): Ah yes, good ol Acca. The ultimate dad band. You could put any of their albums on this list because they all sound the exact same, but I put this one on because I prefer Bon Scott's vocals. The title track feels like it goes forever, but in a way where you wish it didn't end. Some nice fashioned high voltage rock'n'roll. Listen if you like Black Sabbath.

There are way more that I could have put on here (Gurrumul, Frenzal Rhomb, Powderfinger, Silverchair, The Presets, The Chats, Men At Work, Tame Impala etc.) but I think you could probably discover them in your own time. In the meantime, here is the very culmination of Australian music. Nearly 50 years has led up to this being made.

Natsu x Gajeel x Laxus, Part 1 of ?

So, a preliminary statement:

We would all like to hope for the ideal throuple i.e. everyone gets together because they're all similarly attracted and into each other, and there's no drama. And we'd also like to imagine that we're above stories of love triangles and envy. But that's not the way this one happens, nor would it be as interesting. We're gonna go at this one mostly from Gajeel's POV.

Gajeel and his attraction to Laxus has been rough enough on its own, okay? My personal headcanon is that Gajeel thought he was straight as recently as when he joined Fairy Tail. Finding out you like men, ideally, shouldn't be so threatening...but Gajeel is a rough-looking hypermasculine punk whose ego is very prominent. And Laxus is an even more rough-looking hypermasculine punk with uhhh rage issues and their first meeting was basically Laxus beating the living shit out of him.

Yeah, that's how we're going with it--Gajeel had to go through the same 'oh god the guy who beat me up is hot' thing that Levy went through, except with added internalized homophobia. Couldn't he like someone less threatening? Have awkward dreams about, I dunno, Gray, or Freed, or Nats--nope, not that one, that'd be awful too.

And luckily for him, Laxus is a loner and also an asshole and also not good at making friends, so at least they're in the same boat. He doesn't have to worry about anyone else having the guts to actually approach his crush. Fuck you mean 'Gajeel doesn't either'? Mind your business.

You get it, it's a source of a lot of stress for him. He feels very awkward and weird about his crush on Laxus and it clashes a lot with who he presents himself as and who he wants to be, and so there's a lot of stress associated with it for him.

It's looking up for him right around the time Laxus rejoins the guild and has to actually interact with people and he's much calmer, which means if he can stop choking over it, Gajeel might can actually make a move.

Which means that by the time he figures out that Natsu is trying to put the moves on his crush, he...basically detonates. Like, he does not handle it well, at all. You've just started to think he might be getting over his vicious rivalry with Salamander and might be calming down when he gets wind of the fact he and Salamander like the same guy. Nope, fuck that, fuck all of that, every last bit of it, Salamander can go suck some other dick.

Of course it's fucking Natsu, right? Dude blew his old guild to smithereens, knocked him unconscious, basically re-homed him to his own guild, consistently outshines and out-competes him for attention, and now he can't even let Gajeel thirst for another man in peace.

So it's a lot of toxic behavior and outward hostility and hair-trigger temper while Gajeel basically tries to simultaneously keep Natsu from pursuing and also deny that he has any sort of feelings for Laxus whatsoever, because that'd be weak as hell, no thank you. Everybody notices and it kinda freaks out onlookers in the guild, who thought Gajeel was over his hyper-aggressive early days.

Of course, poor Laxus, having not one but two machismo-driven idiots who don't know a thing about romance both crushing on him, because you can guarantee Natsu, while he might be more forward with pursuing a crush, is just as clueless as Gajeel. So Laxus, unawares while this is all starting to brew, is basically watching two guys he's actually rather fond of damn near beating each other to death whenever they're in the same room.

It gets bad enough that Laxus has to basically separate them and pin Gajeel to the ground when he starts a fight and Natsu is getting pretty badly hurt. Like he has to pull Gajeel off of Natsu and tells him to his face he's gonna lay down the law himself if he does it again, and demands to know what the fuck is up. Gajeel stays silent.

Of course, Laxus doesn't let that slide. Corners him and drags him off to some isolated location later, so he can wheedle the answers out of Gajeel. It's not like they don't have an understanding between each other, they can trust each other, right? So why's Gajeel being all silent and clammed up. Finally, Gajeel almost spits it:

"Salamander wants you."

I wouldn't say Remus is an abuser - but he does have toxic, harmful habits that could lead to being abusive if he isn't careful and doesn't have support.

He does unhealthy things out of fear, trauma and trying to protect himself and others... but they are almost always mistakes.

This can very easily lead to being an abuser. He does HURT Tonks. It isn't fair to her. But I don't think it crosses over into abusing her (yet), because he is struggling to do the right thing in difficult times.

There is a war, they are being hunted, he is a werewolf, she has an unplanned pregnancy only weeks after he married her... that's all very difficult, and he has always tried to solve problems by removing himself from them. He knows he can be irresponsible, he knows he is dangerous - and he is doing his best not to cause more problems for people he loves. He isn't being 'unreasonable' by leaving - just mistaken and hurtful.

Abuse can be repeated toxic behaviour with no attempt to fix it... but generally it has a goal, you know? Leaving when you get scared or overwhelmed is different to trying to make someone act a certain way by leaving/threatening to leave.

Remus doesn't want Tonks to change - other than maybe give up on him. He isn't trying to control her. He's just struggling mentally.

If he continued this pattern and never tried to change - yes that would be abusive, hurting her over and over for his own comfort. But we see him trying to change in the last book when he went back. He is already healing, thanks to their friends supporting him.

Was Remus abusive to Severus? Yeah.

As a kid AND as an adult. As a kid he was more 'a willing bystander' - but at least TRIED to defend Severus a little by telling his friends to stop. It isn't good enough, he was still being bad, but he was a kid. He was more of a bully as an adult: he liked putting Severus in tough positions where he couldn't talk or act freely - and had to do what Remus said. He lied to him, embarrassed him - and had fun with it.

In a relationship... I don't think he would want to do that. I don't think he COULD do it. Severus wouldn't let him. Severus was a dog on a leash as a teacher, he had rules to follow. As a boyfriend? He would stand up for himself more. Severus is a very strong man, and Remus is very weak.

However, Severus is weak to feeling unlovable and having his trust broken. Remus leaving, over and over... that'd hurt Severus deeply.

Severus finally opening his heart to someone who seems to understand him, who loves him despite his 'flaws'... only to have them constantly want to leave him alone whenever there's an issue? Severus has to solve all the problems by himself because Remus only wants to be around when things are good and easy and nice...?

It might bring out Severus' own toxic behaviour - being controlling, angry, cruel, unreasonable. They might BOTH become abusive.

Severus tries to control Remus with anger, demands and threats - and Remus tries to stop him by threatening to pull out his love. But pulling away his love is what scares Severus the most, once he is used to having it... which makes him more angry.

In a world without Voldemort/War...

Hm... this would be a world where his friends survived. Where James and Lily raised Harry, where Sirius was a godfather, where Peter wasn't a piece of shit... It's just so different. Remus would have money, safety, love... At the same time, his friends encouraged his bad habits: taking risks, ignoring responsibilities, treating his condition lightly... But he had support. He had many people he trusted that showed him 'It isn't so bad, being a werewolf. We love you as you are.'

I think part of his toxic 'leaving' behaviour is from childhood: he grew up without friends, and every time anyone suspected he was a werewolf his family had to move house. But it was made worse when all his friends 'died'. Overnight he lost everyone, and his sick self-hating brain said 'None of this would have happened if I wasn't a werewolf. It's MY fault.'

If that never happened...? I think he would have been a healthier man. A more confident man, one that just had a 'furry little problem.' If he got in a relationship with someone - his friends would NEVER let him just 'run away' when he got scared.

I think if he went off on his own, tried to have a relationship in secret without any friends to help... he would eventually become abusive. He is a very broken person who hates himself, but is desperate to feel love and acceptance. That isn't easy to heal, especially by yourself. One person can't heal it for him, either - Tonks alone isn't enough.

He needs many people patting him and telling him he is a good boy. He needs to know he isn't just loved, but he belongs - he doesn't need to run.

One of the first scenarios that popped into my head when I first read TIITTV (I found this series around the time part 5 was posted), was a Drista vs Krang kind of fight. And then I realized Drista may be invincible by default, but that doesn’t mean she’s all that dangerous. (There’s a difference between dangerous and deadly, Dris is definitely a little deadly) So I let the thought go pretty quickly. But I fell down the rabbit hole again and was like, ‘hey, what if we put the deadliest characters from each world in the same room and see who was more dangerous?’ Then I thought: XD as dsmp’s most deadly/powerful. But when considering XD’s powers, it made me realize how little he actually uses them. And that’s when I went back to Drista. Because listen, XD may be more knowledgeable about his powers(and therefore is more able to restrain them in power), but, what is essentially a ‘baby’ god… Drista is the personification of Chaos for a reason. She’s as trigger happy as a 14 y/o logging onto her older brother’s Minecraft server through his account and going crazy with operator commands. (See what I did there ;>)

I thought about this a bit too much and I honestly have no idea anymore. There is an unexpected amount of stuff to consider about the SMP gods, and also a bit about Krang too. Thoughts :D?

Oh, dude, that'd be kinda sick actually. Buncha flashy weapon and potion summoning shots. But yeah, not that she'd know how to actually use them effectively, lmao, she'd have no need to ordinarily.

Hm, I could see an AU where Drista decided to go along with Tommy to check out where she was sending him- but we slide back the timeline a little bit to take place during the Krang invasion. We place some slightly arbitrary limitations on Dris where she can't make another portal right away, but it's too dangerous for them to just sit around doing nothing, hence, joining the fight.

Hm... I'm not sure how much I'd want to take away the main fights from the original rottmnt cast, pretty big part of Leo's character arc in particular, but I could also see Tom and Drista clocking that the big alien flesh ship up in the sky as the probable source of their problems. Drista could hypothetically fly up and help with some portion of the fight, even if that's just by throwing down splash potions to help Leo and hinder the Krang.

I mostly like the thought of her and Tommy tearing up, like, krangified busses and shit. Both because it's badass, and because it doesn't interfere too heavily with how the original storyline plays out.

Alternatively- Krang 2 (the sister Krang) is still on earth in government confinement or something. If she were to break out, she'd likely want revenge on the Hamatos, and especially April, no doubt. I... Have some things that haven't happened yet that would technically make contacting the members of the dsmp possible, but I can't say anything about it yet because it's a pretty big spoiler.

But when things go sideways, Tommy could hypothetically use this unspecified method to contact some godly assistance from the dsmp. So that's a pretty feasible way of setting up a hypothetical fight between one of the Krang and Drista. I doubt she actually has much genuine combat experience, so I could more so see her acting in a supporting role for the others- ooh, she could have a cool scene where she summons a thunderstorm and starts fighting by summoning lightning.

It'd be hard to hit such a fast moving target though, so it's not a completely overpowered ability. Possibly have to get the Krang to stay still for a few seconds to land a shot on her?

Anyway, that's about the extent of my ideas for this concept. Although I'm fairly certain I'm not going to be involving the Krang at all in this series (outside of being mentioned), it was fun to think through the hypotheticals :D

Y/N L/N (lead singer of, "Silver Springs"): Talent isn't always something that comes naturally. Lots of times there's years of hard work that's put into it- but not for me. I was born talented. Everyone knew it too.

This isn't just me having a big head, either. I could fucking sing. Why do you think I was as successful as I was?

Jessie Biles (biographer, author of "Y/N L/N: Wildflower"): You've got a rich, beautiful, teenage girl living in LA in the 70's. She's gorgeous- even as a child, and once you get to know her, you find out she's talented too.

She's born with all the money in the world and access to whatever she wants- artists, drugs, clubs- anything and everything at the tips of her fingers.

But she's alone. She's got no siblings, no extended family. Her parents are so focused on whatever bullshit they've got going on that they hardly notice she exists.

So, she acts out. She starts going to clubs, getting high with older men, starts doing some real illegal shit.

We love broken, beautiful people. And it doesn't get much more obviously broken and classically beautiful as Y/N L/N.

Y/N: I think the first time i went to a club I was thirteen. My parents were having some bullshit business party and locked me in my room.

I was done with their bullshit, so I opened up my window, pushed out the screen, and left.

I was barefoot, cold, and the only place I could think to go was downtown.

Johnny Marcum (owner of 'The Golden Fleece'): The first time that girl walked into my bar, I thought she was the most beautiful thing i'd ever seen.

Now, I didn't know she was thirteen when she walked in there! On my life, I thought she was at least 23. She just had this mature aura about her.

Y/N: The first thing I hear when I step into that dingy bar, is, "Hey, where are your shoes?" *laughs*, like, that's your biggest concern? Everyone can say that I looked so much older than i really was, but they knew.

Anyway, so I sit down at this booth with a couple older men. They're all strung out, and they're buying me drinks, and at some point, one of the men pulls out a baggy full of pills.

I don't remember which one of them offered, but i was in such a bad place that I- I took it, and it just exploded from there. I mean, that was just the start. I started going out at least six times a week after that, and if my parents noticed they sure as hell didn't care.

     

Johnny: Y/N was at The Golden Fleece pretty much from sunrise to sundown. She'd be singing, dancing, talking, hell some days she'd just come and sit in silence.

      A lot of the girls who came walking around town back then were always trying to be something they weren't. skinny, pretty, funny- you name it, they wanted to be it.

      Y/N was never like that though. She was never anything except for herself, and I imagine that's why people were drawn to her like they were.

Y/N: Being involved in that kind of life like I was, and at the age that I was, well it taught me about sex and love the hard way.

      I remember there was this one night, there was this older guy there. I don't even remember his name but... he took my virginity. We were at the golden fleece and he led me across the street to some random motel to do some lines. Said I was, "The girl of his dreams."

      I was drawn to him because he was interested in me. I wanted someone to actually look at me, y'know? I had just wanted someone to see me, and I thought he did.

      When he was done he got up, told me to get dressed, and did another line. Then he says, "If you wanna go back down to The Golden Fleece, that'd be fine." I knew he meant he wanted me to leave, and so I did.

      I never even saw him again.

Shyla Rode (R&B star): The first time me and Y/N met, we were at a party that some rich old guy was hosting at his house.

Y/N: These men, they'd invite me to these random parties they were having and of course i'd say yes. most the time I just went for the drugs.

Shyla: Y/N was just a baby. She's a baby at a grown up party, and she's got herself involved in some shit she shouldn't even know exists. The men that I saw her with when we met? They were pigs.

Y/N: When I met Shyla, she practically rescued me from this dude who was trying to get me in bed. He was practically dragging me away and I was so high I just let him.

Shyla: The guy had to be at least twenty years older than her. So I walk up to them and i'm like, "Hey, babes, you ready to go?" and she stares at me and her eyes... it was like they were staring through you. Like- like she couldn't even actually see you.

Y/N: I was confused, but I was high, so I shook my head and I said I wasn't ready to leave, but Shyla was having none of it.

Shyla: I grabbed her hand and I said, "I think you are." But she kept trying to push me off her while we were walking and she just kept saying, "No i'm fine! I don't wanna go!"

Y/N: I know I was being difficult.

Shyla: The guy she was with was following us, trying to get me to let her go, and get this- he says, "You can't make her do anything she doesn't wanna do!"

      Like, what!? He was literally about to have sex with a minor who was high out of her mind! What does he know about consent? Like, come on. It's laughable.

Y/N: Shyla forced me to leave, and once we got in her car she asked me for my address, but I refused. I said, "Why should I tell you?"

Shyla: When she said that, it took everything in me to not kick her out of my car. But, no matter how hot headed she made me, she needed help.

Y/N: Since I wouldn't tell her where I lived, she just took me back to her place.

Shyla: What else was i supposed to do? She was high, she was barefoot, and she was refusing to let me take her back to her house.

Y/N: The next morning when I woke up, I was sober. I hated being sober. So I get up off the couch and start looking around the apartment for... well anything I could get my hands on. Pills, alcohol, weed- anything.

Shyla: I woke up because someone kept slamming my cabinets, and I walk out and of my room, and there's Y/N, walking around my place like she owned it.

Y/N: I didn't even notice she was up until she yelled, "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

      My first instinct was to run, but I didn't. I closed the cabinet, cleared my throat, and said, "I'm hungry."

     

Shyla: I knew she was lying, but I went with it anyway.

Y/N: She made me some of best pancakes i've ever had. After that I knew this woman was about to be my best friend.

Shyla: I think I became like, almost her mother. I was basically her guardian. She stayed the night at my house for like, weeks at a time.

Y/N: My parents never even noticed I was gone. I mean i'd come back to get some clothes or for whatever I needed, they'd glance at me, watch me leave, and never say anything.

Shyla: During the week, I would be at the studio working on my debut album, so I couldn't watch her, and a lot of the times when i'd get home she'd be higher than a kite.

Y/N: I don't know if I remember a time where I wasn't either high or thinking about getting high. Whenever shyla was gone, i'd go up to The Golden Fleece, do some pills, maybe do some weed or do some coke if anyone had any, and then i'd go back home.

Shyla: Honestly, it was starting to get... exhausting.

Y/N: So, one day shyla comes home and i'm obviously high out of my mind, and she'd obviously had enough of my bullshit.

Shyla: I said to her, "You need to get your fucking act together. If you wanna live here, you're gonna get your ass in school."

Y/N: I was never... good at school, and my parents never paid enough attention to me to know if I was going or not, so when shyla started making me go, I almost moved out.

Shyla: Her grades were always right on the cusp of failing and passing, but I did my best to help her out whenever i could.

      It wasn't like she didn't try, either. There were a lot of nights she would be sitting at the kitchen table until the late hours of the night, doing her homework or studying for exams.

Y/N: When I graduated, the only person who showed up was shyla. She was the only person who cheered for me, yet she was louder than all the other families.

Shyla: After Y/N graduated I released my first album and... it was a flop. The record label dropped me, and since that was our only source of income, Y/N was forced to get a job at some roundabout diner.

Y/N: The job at the diner didn't pay enough to keep paying for the apartment we were at though, so we were forced to downsize.

Shyla: Sometimes, when Y/N did the dishes or she was showering, she'd sing this little tune to herself. Sometimes they were songs i'd heard, but usually they were songs she'd made up

on her own.

Y/N: I started to really get into writing my own music. Usually it just a chorus or a bridge. I never really finished a song start to finish.

Shyla: I was determined to get Y/N to do something with that voice of hers, but one thing about Y/N, you can't force her to do something she doesn't wanna do.

      She'd really come into herself back then too. s

Stopped letting these men do whatever they wanted with her.

Y/N: I was seeing this guy named Aiden Bower. He was some upcoming solo singer or some shit. But, he definitely loved me more than I loved him.

      This one night we're lying in bed and he says, "I don't understand why you don't love me as much as I love you." And I just layed there in silence. I mean, what the fuck do you say to that?

      So, once he finally falls asleep, I get this idea for a song. I take out my journal and I write down some lyrics for a few hours, and then I finally fall asleep.

      When I wake up he's got the journal in front of him and his guitar in his lap, and he's reading over my songs. More specifically, the one I had written the night before.

      He says to me, "You know, you can go professional with a lot of this shit." But I just shrugged him off. 

      A couple weeks later, I hear my song on the radio. But get this, it's not me singing it.

Shyla: That bastard took her song and never even fucking credited her for it.

Aiden Bower: Look, that never fucking happened. this is why i cant stand Y/N L/N. She spreads all these lies about me. I wrote that song, end of story.

Y/N: It was starting to become a pattern. This one time, i'm having breakfast at this little rundown diner with this director guy. Now, back then I would always order a glass of champagne with my breakfast. But, I was also always tired because i didn't get enough sleep. So I needed coffee, but obviously I couldn't just order coffee cause I was already amped up from the pills I was taking. And drinking the champagne would put me to sleep- you see my problem? So I used to order champagne and coffee together, and at the places servers knew me, i'd just call it an 'Up and Down.' And this guy i was with thought it was hilarious. He says, "I'm gonna use that in something some day." and he wrote it down on a napkin and put it in his pocket.

      That's how it was back then. I was always gonna be the inspiration for some man's great idea. But you know what? Fuck that.

      That's why I decided to start putting my own shit out there.

Shyla: I was the only one who wanted her to do something with herself- do something with her talent. Everyone else would just make something of themselves with what she had.

Y/N: I had absolutely no interest in being anybody else's muse.

      I am not the muse.

      I am the somebody.

      End of fucking story.

Shyla: Next thing we know and it's 1982 and       Y/N's started wearing these big hoop earrings. She never wore shoes either.

      Y/N started seeing this guy, he was just like everyone else in LA- trying to make a name for himself, and he drags me and Y/N down to this karaoke bar.

Y/N: He practically begged me that entire night to get up on stage with him. Eventually, I gave in.

      It's pretty nerve-wracking. The first time you get on stage in front of all those people, and they're all looking at you like they're expecting you to amaze them.

      And it feels so good when you do.

Shyla: She was a fucking natural on that stage. took all the attention away from whatever shit head she was seeing at the time. Around the second chorus, she just let it rip.

Marcus Jennings (lead singer of Amor): When I went up there with Y/N, I had no idea that her voice was that powerful. I’d heard her in the shower before but- on that stage? she was fucking amazing.

She had this incredible voice. Gritty, but never scratchy. It made everything she sang complex and a little unpredictable. You know, i’ve never had much of a voice myself, but you don’t need a voice to be a singer if your songs are good enough- but Y/N? She had the whole fucking thing.

She had the talent of someone who had been practicing for years- decades even- and it was just natural. I was always trying to get her to sing with me, and that was the first night she actually agreed.

I told Y/N, “The biggest thing your songs have going for them is that you might sing them.” But she always hated when people tried to help her.

She yelled at me for a while, and then eventually, she asked me where she should try and play some gigs.

Y/N: I wanted- no I needed to get my songs heard. So I started going around to different karaoke bars, I even did some backup vocals on Shyla’s album that she was working on.

Suddenly, it was like there was so many people trying to convince me to do a demo. All these men wanted to be my manager but I knew what they really wanted. All they saw was this naïve girl that would believe anything they said- but I wasn’t that girl anymore.

There was this dude named Martin Brenner, and he was the only one I could tolerate. Mostly because he was the only one actually interested in my music.

Shyla: Something Martin hadn’t put into account though, was that Y/N couldn’t stand when people tried to tell her what to do.

Y/N: Brenner gave me this song by some song writer I had never even heard of, and he asked me to record a demo of it.

I show up to the studio, I read over the song, I sing it how I wanna sing it, Brenner asks me, “Can you sing it a little smoother?” I said, “Nope.” And I left.

Shyla: She got signed to Upside-Down Records right after that.

Y/N: I didn’t care about the singing. It was the songwriting that I loved. So when Brenner started to try and dictate what I sang and what I didn’t sing- it made me mad.

So, Brenner shows up to my house and he asks for a compromise. I say, “I either sing my own songs- or i’m not signing your contract.”

Shyla: I wish I could’ve seen Brenner face when she said that.

Y/N: He barely even argued with me. I told him what I wanted, and I wasn’t letting up. So eventually, he told me I needed to write some real songs. Not just the half-assed songs I was writing at the time.

So that’s what i did.

ppl should honestly write more books in this format. it’s easy to write and easy to read.

basically, we know exactly three things about Krauser's past:

he trained Leon

he loved his men but couldn't protect them, and then couldn't even die alongside them, and he feels incredible guilt over that

Leon says that he had a code of honor that he kept to, and the game outright says that he used to be a good guy

none of that

literally NONE OF IT

even hints that Krauser was an abuser. in fact, it paints a total opposite picture.

Krauser is a dark omen of what Leon could become under the right conditions, because he was also someone who believed wholeheartedly in the institutions that were supposed to support him, in the rule of authority and law, and in the chain of command -- all things that Leon believed in in RE2.

and just like Leon in RE2, he had all of that ripped out from under him in the harshest way possible.

but unlike Leon, Krauser didn't have a Sherry Birkin to protect. he was left completely and utterly alone. abandoned. and born from that trauma was a desperation to never have that happen to him again, which is why he goes out seeking power to protect himself with.

if Leon had had everything stripped away from him the way that Krauser had, who's to say that he wouldn't have become a villain himself? he certainly had justification for it, after all that'd happened to him.

and the game harps on this a few different times. Krauser says to Leon that they're two sides of the same coin. he also has a line: "I know your every move. you learned them from me." the implication here is that Leon is still walking down that path. he's not out of those woods yet. if he doesn't save Ashley... then what?

so go back and rewind now.

rewind to Leon being fresh out of RE2 and all of the horrible shit that happened to him and being placed under command of this man who's at least ten years his senior but still believes in all of the things that betrayed Leon in Raccoon City. that was probably a pretty powerful revelation for him, and -- knowing what we know about Leon -- it was something that he would've wanted to emulate. Krauser was a strong man who took no bullshit from anyone, but he still had things that he believed in. that's exactly the kind of person that Leon would want to be.

and like. Krauser couldn't have trained Leon with the efficacy that he did if Leon didn't trust him completely. like yeah, Leon ran missions with his unit, but their trainings were one-on-one affairs. if Leon didn't trust him, he wouldn't have been able to learn shit from him. and since Leon went into this relationship not being able to trust himself, even, after RE2, to be able to trust someone else to that extent is a Big Fucking Deal, actually.

like.

Leon doesn't want to fight Krauser in RE4make. and he certainly doesn't want to kill him. even after Krauser kills Luis, Leon's still trying to talk it out with him. because he loves this man. Krauser believed in him when he didn't even believe in himself, and Krauser's teachings are what kept him going this long.

and on the flipside of things, Krauser looked at Leon and saw nigh-limitless potential stuck inside of a man who was too broken to see it. the one thing that held Leon back was his own distrust of himself, and so it became Krauser's goal to build that confidence in him back up in order to unlock that potential. and to be a part of something like that -- to have that kind of effect on another human being's life -- that's some really powerful shit, too.

but then Operation Javier happens. and Leon lives, when all of Krauser's other men die. how do you cope with something like that? unfortunately, Krauser didn't.

so metaltango is like... at least for me...

it's a mentor/student relationship that's far more personal than that. Leon looks up to Krauser, sure, and Krauser has a vested interest in helping Leon become the best version of himself that he can, but... it's more than that. both of them saw pieces of themselves in each other. both of them drew hope from one another. but then that hope in both of them died, leaving them with nowhere else to go but spiraling towards certain destruction. the story between Leon and Krauser is a tragedy, but that tragedy wasn't born from abuse. it was born from the trust and hope and love that was lost between them.
